20191007: Situation in Turkey/Syria

We’ve heard rumblings of something going on in Turkey for several days. For months, we’ve heard President Trump complain about European Nations who refuse to take responsibility for their citizens who became ISIS fighters. The USA has been stuck with them. And yes, we’ve heard Citizen/Candidate/President Trump complain about endless foreign wars.

We recall President Trump trying to withdraw from Syria and the GOPe and Dems had a fit. How odd. Almost open defiance from Sec Mattis. Well, today we see further action.

From the President himself: He did this in a tweet thread. Below is the first tweet in the thread, and below that is the compiled message for ease of reading.

The United States was supposed to be in Syria for 30 days, that was many years ago. We stayed and got deeper and deeper into battle with no aim in sight. When I arrived in Washington, ISIS was running rampant in the area. We quickly defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate,…..

….including capturing thousands of ISIS fighters, mostly from Europe. But Europe did not want them back, they said you keep them USA! I said “NO, we did you a great favor and now you want us to hold them in U.S. prisons at tremendous cost. They are yours for trials.” They…..

….again said “NO,” thinking, as usual, that the U.S. is always the “sucker,” on NATO, on Trade, on everything. The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so. They have been fighting Turkey for decades. I held off this fight for….

….almost 3 years, but it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home. WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS TO OUR BENEFIT, AND ONLY FIGHT TO WIN. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will now have to…..

…figure the situation out, and what they want to do with the captured ISIS fighters in their “neighborhood.” They all hate ISIS, have been enemies for years. We are 7000 miles away and will crush ISIS again if they come anywhere near us!

Thoughts?

Imagine this will be updated throughout the day.

End.

Update #1, 8:15AM Eastern time: Within 30 Minutes, here comes Lindsey Graham, bemoaning our abandonment of the the Kurds, and advocating for the USA staying in Syria with no end in sight. Lindsey claims ISIS is not destroyed and “it is the biggest lie being told by the administration”. “I will do everything I can to destroy Turkey and their economy if they step one foot in Turkey”. “The administration is short-sited in my opinion.” “To say that ISIS is destroyed in Syria is not true.” “We just set the motive for the continuation of ISIS.” and it makes the military sad to leave.

Update #2 8:22AM Eastern Time: Just as predicted, here come the NeoCons.

https://twitter.com/TrueEyeTheSpy/status/1181179565676195840

And MORE from Lindsey Graham:

Update at 11:20AM Eastern Time, from the President:

….down, watching over a quagmire, & spending big dollars to do so. When I took over, our Military was totally depleted. Now it is stronger than ever before. The endless and ridiculous wars are ENDING! We will be focused on the big picture, knowing we can always go back & BLAST!

President Donald Trump

And MORE from our President: 11:38AM Eastern Time

….the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!

President Donald Trump, October 7, 2019.

Update, about 1:00pm, from the Dept of Defense: (Looks like they were not “blindsided” at all, were they?)

About 2:00pm, we hear from Mitch McConnell, who released a statement:

McConnell Statement on Turkey and U.S. Partners in Syria

‘Major new conflict between Turkey and our partners in Syria would seriously risk damaging Turkey’s ties to the United States and causing greater isolation for Turkey on the world stage. As we learned the hard way during the Obama Administration, American interests are best served by American leadership, not by retreat or withdrawal.’

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released the following statement today regarding Turkey and U.S. partners in Syria: “In January, a supermajority of the U.S. Senate voted for an amendment that expressed bipartisan concern about the continuing threat posed by ISIS and Al Qaeda in Syria, appreciation of the long-term American security interests in Syria and the region, and support for a continued military presence in northeastern Syria.

“The conditions that produced that bipartisan vote still exist today. While the physical caliphate has been removed, ISIS and al Qaeda remain dangerous forces in Syria and the ongoing Syrian civil war poses significant security and humanitarian risks.

“A precipitous withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria would only benefit Russia, Iran, and the Assad regime. And it would increase the risk that ISIS and other terrorist groups regroup.

“I urge the President to exercise American leadership to keep together our multinational coalition to defeat ISIS and prevent significant conflict between our NATO ally Turkey and our local Syrian counterterrorism partners. Major new conflict between Turkey and our partners in Syria would seriously risk damaging Turkey’s ties to the United States and causing greater isolation for Turkey on the world stage.

“As we learned the hard way during the Obama Administration, American interests are best served by American leadership, not by retreat or withdrawal.”

Our VSG is starting the week off with a Bang!
Hah.
It will be interesting to see which guilty dogs bark first.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Oh, I love it!
Trump has turned European globalism’s little ISIS musical chair operation, where AMERICA is always the one left standing, into THEIR PROBLEM, NOT OURS.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

No, I need to fire it up. I came here first and saw what you had posted. I was just immediately seeing that the VSG has been up to VSG-ing the heck out of his enemies!!! 😀

TRUMP DOCTRINE ON STEROIDS!!!

Brave and Free

PDJT said we weren’t going to keep fighting endless wars, so I think it’s about time. Let NATO / EU figure it out the balls in there court. Rather harsh for the Kurds but it’s been more so for our young man over there fighting a endless war. The Rinos and war mongers are going to go crazy I am sure.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

The Globo-Nazis have a great game figured out. They MAGNIFY small crises into big ones using super-power arms and money. They AMPLIFY small crises into WORLD CRISES and make MONEY on it.
THE GAME IS OVER.

Alison

Magnify…Amplify….
That’s the least of it. They PURPOSELY CREATE each small crisis before they magnify & amplify.
Our domestic False Flags are a pittance to the global ones created by Obama, McCain, Hillary and the Bushes. I am sick inside that I blindly accepted their manufactured wars at the price of so many traumatically wounded (mentally & physically) and dead. We are our own great betrayers if we don’t stop this madness.
Mideast tribal wars – centuries long – cannot be ours to solve by endlessly sacrificing our wealth and troops.
Our fossil fuel independence and strong borders to stop incoming drugs go a long way to being able to say. #NoMoreNeoconWars

Suspect that POTUS’ visit to Walter Reed and seeing the broken bodies and minds of our young military was just the resolve he needed to go ahead with this. Too bad Graham and other neo-cons are required to make personal visits there, as well.

On Judas goats.
Somebody asked me to summarize so that they could tell people on Twitter.
Just copy and paste these toots and writer your own thread on Twitter.

A Judas goat is trained to lead sheep to slaughter.
A Judas goat walks at the front of the herd, and the sheep follow into the slaughterhouse.
As part of its training, the Judas is shown a secret escape route.
So the Judas goat leads the herd to its doom but exits through a hidden doorway, so the herd never knows that they were being led by an enemy agent.

Donald Trump began planning his presidency in about 1980 at the latest.
You can see that in the interviews he gave.
“One man could turn this country around.”

1+
4h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
As part of his 40-year preparation for the presidency, Trump did two things:
One, he befriended REAL Democrats who were unhappy with the increasing leftism of the party.
And two, he planted his own agents who POSED as Democrats and climbed the political ladder.
These were Trump’s sleeper agents.
Those people are the Judas goats.
1
4h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
Here’s what people don’t understand:
A Judas goat will never be perceived as one.
For example, I’m quite sure that Michael Moore is a Judas goat.
Many of Trump’s Judas goats are used only once.
After Trump was elected, Soros met with Democratic donors, and they hatched a plan to stop Trump.
Jill Stein demanded a recount. The plan was to delay the certification of the electoral votes.
1+
3h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
If the electoral votes were delayed, the election would’ve gone to the House of Representatives.
They would’ve elected Hillary. Don’t kid yourself. Paul Ryan would’ve forced the GOP to go for Hillary.
But someone in the Soros meeting was a mole who told Trump about the plan.
So Trump defeated the plan in multiple brilliant ways.
1
3h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
For one, Stein filed for a recount ONE WEEK PAST THE PENNSYLVANIA DEADLINE.
All the big cheeses in the room left it to their minions to work out the details, so they were given the wrong deadline, which means that the Pennsylvania recount was a waste of time.
When the Stein people went to court over Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump’s lawyers revealed that Michigan’s votes had already been certified and sent to Washington.
1
3h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
The Michigan votes put Trump over 270, so the ENTIRE RECOUNT was an exercise in futility.
A Judas goat told Soros and Company to go for the recount.
So they did, and they had their butts handed to them.
This has been happening since Trump won the election.
The Judas goats mislead the Democrats, and Trump comes out on top.
Take impeachment. Biggest backfire in American political history. But the Democrats are positive that if they JUST PUSH HARDER, it’ll work.
1+
3h
Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
The reason the Democrats are no longer skilled at politics is that they are getting terrible advice.
Judas goats are convincing them to commit political suicide.
Someone told Hillary to stagger out of her hospital bed and accuse Trump of DOING WHAT SHE DID.
What we’ll happen?
All her own corruption will be exposed. First came Biden, and next comes Hillary.
1+

Thomas Wictor @ThomasWic
It was Judas goats who gave us that hideous Swedish girl.
I actually didn’t watch this at the time.
It’s disgusting. She’s the worst possible choice to do this.
All I see is Hitler. Her face is contorted with hate.

Judas goats have convinced Democrats to make terrible decisions AND put utterly loathsome people up front.
Name a single high-profile leftist who is likable.

In the past, leftists always said that they lost because they didn’t go far enough.
The Judas goats have convinced them that they finally need to go all in.
That’s why we have the demented Green New Deal.

And that’s why the Democrats are saying openly that they will raise taxes on the middle class, eliminate our borders, and give free EVERYTHING to illegal aliens.
Here’s a term that Democrats no longer understand:
“Subtext.”
An idea not announced explicitly.
NOW, they say exactly the right thing to drive away voters.
Democrats are promising lawlessness, poverty, and classism that elevates illegals over citizens.
It’s madness that can’t win elections.

Well, drive away the voters that don’t live in California, anyway.
“Hey, I know we just had a gas tax to purportedly fix the roads and we promised not to do anymore without voter approval, but here’s another gas tax.”
And then we approved the second gas tax anyway and the roads are still shit.
(And don’t tell me it’s because the proposition was worded badly – voters being retarded and unable to look up the ballot propositions isn’t any more comforting).

Wictor would say the GCC (plus Israel special ops) will take care of it and deal with Iran. He seems to think the Saudis with all their unlimited $$$ (or gold or whatever currency they use) have serious advanced weapons and training and tactics to handle the Islamist nasties.
However, I don’t trust Islam in any form or fashion – its texts and purpose are conquest and human rights abusive.
Saudis have held slaves and abused women and children and perpetrated jihad and terrorism for centuries.
Who says they have changed?
Crown Prince Bin Salman seems to be moderate and yet, he’s still an Islamist.

NebraskaFilly

WADR, those who expect perfection are doomed to disappointment. SA has been Wahhabist Islam since pretty much it’s inception thanks to an agreement between the King and the Bedouins. The Crown Prince is making progress on moving towards a more moderate Islam and, IMO, he should be supported 100% in that effort. He removed thousands of REAL “Islamist” Wahhabist Imams and is allowing women more freedom and modernizing the country. This is NOT going to happen overnight. It will take years.
The Kurds are also primarily Islamic – are they “Islamists” as well? The Kurds are spread out over 5 or 6 different countries. They want their OWN country? How can that happen? They are simply one of the many “tribes” within Islam. Allegiances between countries change over time – this is just reality – and it is time for them to take care of themselves now.
From Wiki: “Regarding religion, although the majority of Kurds belong to the Shafi‘i school of Sunni Islam, significant numbers practise Shia Islam and Alevism while some are adherents of Yarsanism, Yazidism, Zoroastrianism and Christianity.”

para59r

IMO the tribalism of the Kurds is a stronger binding force than Islam itself. Those who have converted to Islam have done so for the sake of the other Kurds who would not bend the knee and their commitment to Islam is on a sliding scale of being real to mere trappings. This is not at all uncommon with nations that have fallen under the Islamic yoke through out the world and allows for some autonomy to be maintained in masking themselves in the face of this tyrannic cult that is Islamic Fundamentalism.
It’s not just Islam either these people have had to hide themselves from to maintain their identity as a truly ancient peoples. They’ve essentially taken on the trappings of every major religion and or dominant extinguishing force through out the ages for survival purposes and it wouldn’t be a far stretch to suggest they’re the remnants from the ancient Sumer Akkad time period.

This is an outcome of ENERGY DOMINANCE! Our President has allowed our country to become independent of Middle Eastern oil. Within the next 4 years as more and more pipelines are built and LNG terminals are completed, we will never ever have to depend of anyone for our energy needs. 5-eyes workaround = The Orb Network
I am so gratified that I’m not the only person who knows this. I guess it’s one of the drawbacks of moving at Trumpspeed – important events that don’t involve fireworks tend to get lost in the mists of the mind. I will never forget the laying of hands onto the Orb; to me it was the opening act of the DJT New Era.
I have been in favor of recognizing the Kurds as a sovereign country since GWB appointed Paul Bremer as viceroy of Iraq. He was the Father of the Sunni uprising (later ISIS) with his idiotic policy of making Hussain govt employees persona non grata in the interim govt.
IMO, the Kurds should be covertly told that the US is prepared to recognize their sovereignty if they ask for it.

GA/FL

I’m for protecting the Kurds.
No more Islamic genocides like the Armenian Genocide by the Ottomans, Bosnian genocide and Rwandan genocide and the ISIS genocide of Christians in Syria, the genocide of whites in South Africa and others..

Thought popped into my head (probably because of the daily “clan” wars between various “Arab” and “Lebanese-” factions in Berlin and Hamburg)…
Have to be careful walking down the “Sunni” side of the street, as you might end up covered in Shi-ite…
Getting involved in ANY of those conflicts is a losing situation, as no matter how much they hate each other, they hate US, the West, more than anything. People often conflate alliances with friendships. One can be an ally without being a friend; one could hardly be a friend without being an ally (even if occasionally some corrective criticism is needed)…

Cuppa Covfefe

History has shown that Islamists do not keep their treaties and agreements…and they do not intend to recognize Israel whose validity/legality is as legitimate as the formation of Pakistan and other nations formed at the same time by international agreement.
They are currently in violation of 11 of 15 treaties signed: http://freebeacon.com/national-security/report-palestinians-in-violation-of-at-least-11-of-15-treaties-abbas-signed/
An Islamist forging a treaty with Israel is usually assassinated…such as Sadat.
Israel has given up land for years to try to appease the Islamists and history has shown this does not work.
This is all due to the nature of Islam itself. Islam is a hate-based supremacist system that conditions its adherents to basest inhumanity as the recent events and 22,700+ jihad attacks since 9/11/01 have shown. (This does not mean the corrupt politicians in Washington, DC are not at fault in their wheeling dealings – pas du tout!)
Here is Israel before they gave up 70% of their land for peace.

Why do they need their own country?
We do not need to PROTECT the Kurds…
America FIRST…………………
I don’t want to see anymore legless young American men…

Covadonga

“Why do they need their own country?”
It has been theorized that an independent Kurdistan (and also maybe an independent state in North Africa for the non-Arab natives there) could undermine Islam worldwide by highlighting:
-the extent to which Islam has largely served as an Arab colonial enterprise,
-the extent to which Arab Muslims still treat themselves as 1st-class members of the ummah (worldwide community of Muslim believers), and non-Arab Muslims as lesser beings, and
-the extent to which the current generation of Muslims are descendants of non-Muslims who were converted unwillingly at sword point.
I’m not completely invested in this idea, and think there are pros and cons either way. But I wanted to point out that there are non-Muslim counter-jihadist thinkers in the West who are applying strategy to the question of how to handle Islam long-term, and these are some of the options they are coming up with.
The Kurds and the non-Arab North Africans are currently the 2 largest ethnic groups in the world who, respectively, don’t have countries of their own. In contrast to this, the very cantankerous, non-productive, and unloveable Arab Muslims have more sovereign nations under their rule than does any other ethnic group.
In any case, I want our troops out.

NebraskaFilly

Very easy, simple solution to Islam, at least here in the US: NO religious law is allowed that conflicts with Constitutional Law – Islam MUST subject itself to civil law or it cannot exist – period!

Covadonga

Yes, but easier said than done.
Those who would like all Muslims in the West to be subject to secular law, let alone those who would like a halt to all further Islamic immigration, have enough trouble just trying to find locations to hold their lectures, conferences, and fundraisers!

NebraskaFilly

Good question – EXACTLY what I was asking!!!!

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The northern portion of Iraq. The eastern part of Syria.
Even doing that would upset Turkey, because they’d be afraid of the Kurds in their own country wanting to split away and join what would presumably be named “Kurdistan.”

NebraskaFilly

There is an autonomous region in Iraq called Kurdistan – let them go there.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

That’s basically what would be taken out of Iraq if there were ever a full-blown country called Kurdistan.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I can’t recall if there are Kurds in Iran. I know there are Azeris, who perhaps might be happier as part of Azerbaijan.
(Note [to anyone who cares]: the j in Azerbaijan is pronounced like in jump, not like the z in azure. Fakenewscasters tend to assume a j in a foreign word has to be pronounced in some exotic way.)

rf121

The West caused this by splitting the middle east up into countries by geography at the end of WWI. This split tribal groups up who do not recognize these boundaries.

Covadonga

Actually, they’ve always been at war. The Crusades, 18th, 19th, and 20th century European colonialism, and 20th century decolonialization just represent different phases in their eternal wars.

NebraskaFilly

Sorry but I cannot agree – the islamic tribes have been fighting each other since LONG before WW1!!!!

rf121

That is true. But the West sticking their nose where it did not belong just gave another reason for conflict between us and them.

Stuff like this is part of what I voted for! The Kurds have been having meetings with the Syrian gov’t for around 2 years or so according to Non US sources. If they are given somewhat of an autonomous status such as the ones in Iraq, while maintaining Syria proper, this could turn out to be good. I do not like or trust the Turks, too many Armenian friends have biased my take a bit. Would have no problem with Syria and Russia putting them through the meat grinder. The best part is that we will no longer have to protect ISIS from liquidation. Too many times we and the Turks have saved ISIS from being wiped out at the last minute.

So nicely put

TheseTruths

Now Dems will have to take a position. If they support the move, that’s supporting the President; can’t do that. If they oppose the move, they look like war mongers who don’t want to bring the troops home, and it will cast doubt on what any Dem would do a president.
Pres. Trump’s statement is succinct and clear and reasonable: “WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS TO OUR BENEFIT, AND ONLY FIGHT TO WIN.”

A Fortiori

Of all the things I hoped I would live to see, an America that “Will…only fight to win” is pretty high on the list.

ozzytrumpster

No silly roe like only fire back not first. Ffs. Just kill em

ozzytrumpster

Wedged them again.

GA/FL

Would not trust Turkey as far as I can spit. Erdogan is likely to treat ISIS terrorists with honor and turn them loose on the USA.

NebraskaFilly

Oh, I agree with THAT 200% – THAT man is exceedingly dangerous!!!! Should be kicked out of NATO….

kalbokalbs

THAT man is exceedingly dangerous!!!!
^^^ First and confirming clue to me, a muzzie.

Steve in Lewes

GA/FL – Is that the same Turkey that’s a NATO ally?
Perhaps PDJT should tell NATO to get their schiff together or else US funding will start to diminish…drastically. Another ponzi scheme by the politicos to skim $$$$$’s for family and friends!
Another source of the ponzi scheme funding is this BS with continuing resolutions.

GA/FL

Most every nation is vulnerable to need to trade with us – or sanctions can be applied.

YES! Somebody GETS IT!!!

A Fortiori

I read somewhere that we are preparing to turn our attention to South America, and that a reduced presence in the Middle East is a part of this change. This fits with that theory.
I have distinctly mixed feelings about the possibility that we may be abandoning the Kurds.

GA/FL

Speaking of South America…..

Coldeadhands

Think about the bright resourceful & motivated members of the greatest military on earth. When we ponder the lives lost and damaged in endless wars, can we really afford the impact over time in the form of lost potential as many of them would move back into the civilian sector? How do we calculate what never has the opportunity to mature to full stature?
I will bet this is part of Potus’ calculus.

GA/FL

Yes – not wasting life in war is part of PDJT’s pro-life position.

GA/FL

Remember when he held back from a bombing because it would have cost 150 civilian lives?

Covadonga

I suspect that was him reading from a script, like in a movie.
—–
Iran bad. Does bad thing.
CIA globalist chorus: 🎶🎵Let’s go to War! 🎵🎵YES! Now let us go to WAR!!‼️🎼🎶🎵
Trump: OK. Prepare for the bombing.
CIA globalist chorus: 🎶🎵Oh! Goody! Now we get to start the WAR!‼️🎼🎶🎵
[Visions of dollar sign$ 💵💲💵💲$, like sugar plum fairies, dance through their heads.]
Trump: Wait a minute. How many civilian casualties will there be?
CIA globalist chorus: 🎵🎶Our best estimates…
🎵🎶 Yes, our best and nicest estimates…
🎵🎶🎶 Yes, our best and loveliest and most esteemed estimates…
🎵🎵🎶 By our best and most esteemed analysts…
🎵🎵🎶🎶 Are no more than one hundred and fifty civilians…
🎵🎶 Yes, no more than a mere one hundred and fifty civilians…
🎵Dead!!‼️🎵
Trump: 150? That’s too many. Call the whole thing off. Send all the planes back to base. I’m going to bed. Wake me in the morning so I can send out a tweet about how I cancelled the whole thing at the last minute. [Exit stage right.]
CIA globalist chorus: [Collapses unconscious from sudden adrenaline withdrawal.]
—–
Yeah, the script must have gone something like that.
And over the summer, as it dawned on Bolton it was all a script, that was what caused his relationship with the president to deteriorate.

GA/FL

Interesting analysis.

ozzytrumpster

It also removes the best men. The bravest, smartest, most loyal, fittest. Leaving the betas holding the reins

A Fortiori

I do indeed get that feeling. And the ability to explain it to us has been radically diminished by the Russia, Russia, Russia fiasco, which basically precludes PDJT from telling us that he and Putin understand one another and communicate pretty well.

NebraskaFilly

Uh-oh! Did the Trump Org. just concede to CAIR by cancelling the ActForAmerica fund-raising gala event at Mar-A-Lago? On OANN: “It was abruptly cancelled.” “CAIR applauded the decision and said the Trump Organization did the right thing.”
This is NOT good!!!!

NebraskaFilly

No, sorry – jumped OT there for a minute. ACT is the activist group founded by Brigitte Gabriel. They had a fundraising gala scheduled at Mar-A-Lago and it was cancelled out of the blue for some unknown reason. I just know CAIR had a hand in that – no doubt whatsoever. And it saddens me deeply if POTUS does not recognize this danger. I can’t imagine that he doesn’t so……this baffles me, TBH.
https://www.actforamerica.org/

ForGodandCountry

Pretty simple, really.
POTUS knows something we don’t and decided this was the right thing to do.
I trust him 100%.
And he’s EARNED every single percentage point.

phoenixrising37

Act for America – national security grassroots ?
I looked and they’re being ‘smeared’ I guess, as anti-Muslim group, even as a hate group.
All POTUS needs is for them to hold a fundraising at Mar-A-Lago and viola’ Potus is attacked.

Covadonga

Yes, but rational, patriotic counter-jihad groups are being deplatformed, especially IRL, and now the Trump Org is complicit in the deplatforming.
A counter-jihad group having its pre-planned event suddenly cancelled by the venue is not a one-off. It’s becoming a steady drumbeat, like with non-Leftist speakers on college campuses.

NebraskaFilly

So, you know NOTHING about them? Seriously? You aren’t familiar with Brigitte Gabriel??!!?? Yes, POTUS SHOULD have them hold a fundraiser at Mar-A-Lago!!!!! Pfffttt…..POTUS is going to be attacked regardless. Better he is attacked for something so blatantly GOOD for our country!!!!!

Gudthots

My hunch is there was a security risk and he will do something BIGGER in retaliation after the fact.

Covadonga

Hope so!

Lindsey Graham is a worthless McCain BFF POS.
Guess what?
He’s up for re-election in 2020.

“Of all the Republican Senators up for re-election in the 2014 cycle, Graham was considered one of the most vulnerable to a primary challenge, largely due to his low approval ratings and reputation for working with and compromising with Democrats.”

ForGodandCountry

Ms. Lindsey is 100% douchebag and needs to be thrown out of the office he’s squatting in.

I have mixed feelings because of his chairmanship….same with McConnell. plenty of very good arguments on both sides. I tend to be practical on such things because of my own experiences.
But, I also live in SC and I cannot think of any person that could beat him…lots and lots of $$$ in his war chest. I have heard him speak many times, and have chatted with him. He’s the consummate politician and will basically say all the right things to get elected.
Tim Scott says he is retiring…I fully expect Nikki Haley go after his seat. She placed him in Congress when she was Governor.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Hmmm. Maybe the KURDS will send them to their REWARD with “ALLAH”.

Well that wouldn’t be in their best interest. If the Kurds released the ISIS prisoners, they would re-engage and join the Turks.
Just like when Obama traded those scum for Bergdahl, they went right back fighting!

cthulhu

Well, if they’re caged up in some sort of prison, it would be expected that their gaolers might not want to hang around waiting for Turks to show up……and it’s be a darn shame if it took the Turks a couple of weeks to get there…..what with there being nobody to feed ’em…..

ozzytrumpster

Water. Turn off the water. Even if the Turks hurried -in the desert you know.

ForGodandCountry

How interesting is this….?
Amongst so many other things, Trump and his supporters (us) have now taken over the anti-war mantle from the political left, who will now call for continued intervention in Syria because they cannot support anything PDJT does.
And just like THAT (snaps fingers), the political left becomes the war-mongers (along with the usual Neocon suspects).
Say hello to another 500k+ democrat voters who will now vote for Trump next year.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

The term “neolibs” has been trending lately for EXACTLY this reason. I keep an eye on the idea, and it has come back in a big way lately.

Cuppa Covfefe

IIRC, it’s the DEMONicRATs who start the wars, and Republicans end them, mopping up, and then getting blamed for the war(s) that they didn’t start…
Great that VSGPDJT is stopping that, and putting the DEMONicRATs in the corner where they belong: (as FG&C said) Hobson’s choice of supporting VSGPDJT and his position, or being seen as war hawks (which they actually are, as war brings in TONS of money to their globalist Satanic masters)……

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Exactly – THAT is the game. EVIL Dems start the wars under the table, DUMB Republicans CO-SIGN publicly and take the blame.

jamcooker

Wolf, I think its GREEDY Republicans that co-sign. Bushes, Romney, and no name, not to mention a whole host of others.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

I can definitely agree with that. And they are DUMB, TOO, because if anybody should be wary of greed, it should be Republicans!
I still remember when W was in play, before getting elected. An old-school Reaganaut had ONE response when I brought up W’s name:

🦋🦋bflyjesusgrl🦋🦋

Kurds don’t have their own country. They occupy regions in Syria, Iran, Turkey, and Iraq. Different tribes have different priorities, pov’s, and religions. Although they helped defeat ISIS, they’ve also fought against Assad’s forces. Hot Mess Syria wants them out. Turkey calls them terrorists. US made this agreement w/Turkey in August 2019. There was no “blindsiding”.
https://southfront.org/turkey-u-s-reach-agreement-on-northeastern-syrian-peace-corridor/
Turkey and U.S. have concluded their talks on northeastern Syria with an agreement to establish a “peace corridor” in the Kurdish-held region, the two countries announced in a joint statement on August 7.
The statement reads:
“At the end of the talks the delegations have agreed on the following:
1-The rapid implementation of initial measures to address Turkey’s security concerns;
2- to set up as soon as possible a joint operations center in Turkey to coordinate and manage the establishment of the safe zone together;
3- that the safe zone shall become a peace corridor, and that any additional measures shall be taken for our displaced Syrian brothers to return to their country.”
The Turkish Anadolu Agency claimed that the joint “peace corridor” will be 30 to 40 kilometers deep in northeastern Syria.
As for the steps which will be taken to ensure Turkey’s security, the state-run agency said that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) will be moved out of the “peace corridor” and forced to surrender their heavy weapons.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which controls most of the region, have not commented on the new Turkish-U.S. agreement, so far.
Last year, the U.S. and Turkey reached a very similar agreement on the key city of Manbij in northern Aleppo. However, most of the agreement’s terms were never fulfilled by Washington and its allies. This could be the case with the “peace corridor” agreement.
Turkey has decided things aren’t moving fast enough and now want to invade.
POTUS is moving our troops out of harms way.
https://southfront.org/us-troops-are-withdrawing-from-area-of-upcoming-turkish-military-operation-in-northeastern-syria/
I get we want to protect our allies, the Kurds. But to do so would mean going to war against Turkey, and possibly Syria. That’s not in our interest.
This is now Erdogan’s baby, 👀 on him. The world is watching to see if he massacres the Kurds. We have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes. I’m willing to bet Our VSGPOTUS undoubtedly has leverage over him to keep him in line.

I’m trying to find a non-biased source on this. The PKK are only a left-wing faction of the Kurds, so the situation over there is much more complex than the MCM/YSM would have us see (not to mention Aireheadman)…
I rather suspect the PKK are like the International Workers Party (SEIU, anyone?) and might not represent mainstream Kurds.
Then again, when you jump into someone else’s argument, all that happens (usually) is both (all) of them end up being mad at you…

ForGodandCountry

We love our military. Period. Full stop.
As a matter of policy, we should not:
– unnecessarily put any of them in harms way
– pretend we are the world’s police
– make our military fight with one or both hands tied behind its back when it does fight either offensively or defensively
We should:
– use overwhelming force (not proportional) when tasking the military to achieve a mission requiring the use of force
– not be concerned with what a liberal media would/will say, about anything
– use our military in such a way that anyone considering taking on the might of the US military is the very last option they will choose from, ever

To put this in a broader context, the timing of President Trump bringing this action to the forefront is verrrrry interesting.
Would a POTUS fearing an impeachment vote by House and negative trial by Senate throw this anti-neocon bomb at the Lindsey Graham/Nikki Haley/Willard Romney warmongers right now?
Or alternatively, is this another shot across the bow at the massive leverage POTUS holds over Senate GOPe if they open the doors to trial & discovery. Who knows what neocon skullduggery could be exposed during a Senate impeachment trial. Benghazi, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, $$$$ billions missing from Hillary’s State Dept and Pentagon.
Methinks POTUS is indicating he won’t stop with the Bidens. If impeachment war ‘goes hot’, POTUS is showing the ‘6 ways to Sunday’ exposure he can bring to the neocon cabal.
All while protecting our troops from the godawful ravages of wars we should NEVER be fighting militarily when we can achieve results economically, as POTUS has so aptly demonstrated.
As POTUS likes to say … “We’ll see what happens.”

A Fortiori

I’ve never been a big Lindsey fan, but I too linked his negative comments about PDJT’s announcement to the recent golf game. This conflict is likely being staged in order to impel some result; I’m just not smart enough to know what that result may be.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I didn’t think the political situation of NE Syria was a top priority among evangelical Christians. “Losing the mandate of heaven”? Over Syria? Seriously?

ForGodandCountry

Ummmmmmmmm….
No.
You aren’t wrong.

michaelh

There’s a perpetual effort to talk about the Kurdish Christians and how we need to protect the weak and defenseless emanating from some quarters of Evangelicalism. The fringes of the Pat Roberson crowd in CBN is a good place – it’s been a long time since The 700 Club was at its peak of influence. International news about Christian persecution is kept by the MCM at an extreme trickle, which means that it is shockingly easy to manipulation Evangelical opinion by unburying this news story in just this way or that tragic event in just that way.
Trump taking the problem of religious persecution seriously – especially international persecution of Christians – is a big step toward separating Christian compassion from those who want us either 1) in wars or 2) to take lots of “Christian” refugees. (Or both, whenever possible. Refugees are big business, especially for churches.)
The other reason not much talked about is plain old fundraising. IJM is a prime example of this – they tell lots of stories about modern day slavery and it’s primarily about fundraising.

Sadie Slays

Thank you for explaining this.

GA/FL

No, they don’t speak for all ‘Evangelical’ Protestants.

Somewhere along the way, he lost his mojo.

Covadonga

Maybe in the cabinet meeting where he sat back and let Scooter Libby take the fall in the Valerie Plame affair, when he knew that the leak of the CIA officer’s identity had come from his own Deputy Sec. of State, Richard Armitage?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

BOOM.
GO along to GET along.

Covadonga

Interesting WickedPedia entry on this Armitage fellow.
Under Reagan, he was implicated in Iran-Contra.
Bo Gritz also carried a letter to Washington from the warlord Khun Sa (who had fled China to escape ChiComs) in which Armitage was one of the American government types named as engaging in heroin trafficking out of Southeast Asia.
Apparently, he beat this rap too. But it kind of makes you scratch your head. A former naval officer, in civilian government, with 3 major scandals attached to his name, one for each Republican president he served under, over a 25 year period, from which he only succeeds in failing upward.
Born in Boston. Hmm. Any way he could be part of the Müller/Bulger/Kerry/Biden mafia we have detected recently, sent to dirty up Republican administrations?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Precisely. Based on all of it, with the drug-running being a kind of check-digit, it sounds like he’s a CIA embed. His history sounds a lot like “Stef” Halper in terms of serial dirty inside ops to take down Republicans, while looking like he’s one of the victims.
Iran-Contra always sounded like a way for “them” to weigh down the Reagan administration.
They aren’t going to be able to walk the streets.

Covadonga

From your other reply:
‘it sounds like he’s a CIA embed. His history sounds a lot like “Stef” Halper’
As soon as I saw the year of each scandal, and thought which president that was under, bingo, the parallel with what you’d written about Halper jumped out.
Armitage:
-3 consecutive Republican presidents, Reagan, Bush, Bush.
-A scandal in each, Iran-Contra, SE Asia heroin smuggling accusation, Plame.
Halper:
-3 consecutive Republican presidents with personal anti-Communist background, whether contemporary or past, Nixon (past,) Reagan (past and contemporary,) Trump (at least contemporary.)
-A really major scandal in each, Watergate, Iran-Contra, FISAgate. 3 biggest Republican scandals of my lifetime. Which for the Mockingbird Media, makes them the 3 biggest scandals of my lifetime, if you replace “FISAgate” with “Russiagate”.
Anti-Communist friends I’ve previously mentioned your Halper insights to were immediately fascinated.

STRATEGIC MASTERSTROKE.
Not only is it in America’s interests to pull out of Syria, but what many are missing is that it creates massive new headaches for Assad – and the mullahs, Assad’s only real ally in the region.
With the US gone, Assad will now have to plug the hole with his own troops and he’ll almost certainly need Iranian help, to do it. Problem is, the mullahs have enough trouble at home. Trump’s move weakens both Assad & Tehran.

#UPDATE
Oct 7 – Baghdad, #Iraq
Reports indicate four individuals, including a senior Iraqi MP, died in a fire incident at a hotel.
My take:
Considering the fact that some Iraqi MPs have accused #Iran’s regime of murdering Iraqi protesters, this is quite suspicious.

If you’re still wondering why we don’t just overthrow the Iranian mullahs, take a look at Iraq.
One corrupt, murderous government after another.
They’re shooting at protestors, and they fired the general who defeated the Islamic State.
People blame Iran, but it’s the Iraqis who keep choosing to do stuff like this.

A question for @ThomasWic & my American friends here.
Considering the White House statement saying US forces will no longer be in the “immediate area,” could this be a concession to Erdogan in return for cooperation in pressuring Iran’s regime?
I’ve also attached a map that is circling on social media, claiming to be an official Turkish plan of a “safe zone” or a “buffer zone” on the Syria border.
Your feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Erdogan doesn’t learn.
In January of this year, ALL his jihadists lackeys were killed.
We can expect to see more Turkish tanks going up in flames.
The Turkish armed forces are no longer capable of fighting. There’s no need to make a deal with them.
They aren’t a factor anymore.

I tend to think Thomas is right. Trump will use this to officially pull back the US and then allow GCC to quietly handle things as they see fit. Trump trusts the Saudis, and will give them aid (if needed) quietly.

👍 If asked by the GCC. Trump promised this approach May 2017 in his state visit to Saudi Arabia which included attending a GCC summit. He very candidly, pragmatically, and respectfully stated to the summit attendees that it was time to recognize that the people in the room other than him held the keys to peace and stability in the ME. They call the shots. We would have GCC’s back if and how they asked and how.

It has to be this way.
In the past, we were given a false choice:
Isolationism or interventionism.
There’s a third way:
Nationalist internationalism.
America first, but we’ll help others IF ASKED and if it’s in our interests to do so.

Trump is doing as our allies in the region ask.
Today Iraq is in total chaos. The government is purging the security forces of anyone who has a good relationship with the US.
We still symbolize colonialism, so we have to publicly keep out of the region.
Of course we’re doing things clandestinely, but the days of American flags on statues are over.

A Fortiori

I’d like to think that the concept of nationalist internationalism includes the British notion of the “punitive expedition” (When someone interferes with your national interests, you send in your people to break things and kill people and generally make a huge mess, and immediately thereafter you bring them home). If so, I’m for it.
I have long thought Colin Powell’s notion that “you break it, you own it” was a monumentally stupid idea.

ozzytrumpster

Absolutely. They hit you you punish them so hard they’ll think twice. Carthage? That’s doing it right

ozzytrumpster

Oh and India post rebellion. The brits really hammered them

Covadonga

Brits were in India why?

ozzytrumpster

Age of empires. Of all the European nations with overseas territories Britain left them better than they found them.
The brits recognised that democracy could not stand without rule of law by an independent judiciary, a functional middle class of businesses and govt workers ie infrastructure like trains, roads, sewerage etc. I don’t think there are many ex Brit colonies who didn’t do well and many French/German/Spanish/Portuguese that did

ozzytrumpster

They had a philosophy of nation building. Not just exploitation. They were the best of the colonial nations. Education was one of their key musts. For all. And educated , stable, employed or in business middle class was bedrock to stability of nations

Covadonga

Yes, but their salt tax and policies on rebellion were extremely harsh in India.
At the time the British entered the scene, a native alliance of the Sikhs in Panjab and the Himalayas, the Rajput kingdoms of Rajasthan and central India, the Bundelas of Bundelkhand, and, most importantly, the Marathas of Maharashtra were in the process of dismantling the Mughal (i.e. Islamic invaders from Afghanistan and Central Asia) Empire, which had previously been the overwhelmingly dominant power on the Subcontinent.
The British long-distance conquest was only rendered feasible by the disunion caused by this process, which the British intervention then halted.
Once established in power, the British preserved the remains of the Mughal realm like a fly in amber, (until the rebellion of 1848, that is,) with all actual power vested in themselves.
During the entire colonial era, they took the cheap way out of preserving their Raj, with the principle of “divide to rule”. This involved giving special protection and privileges to Indian minorities (i.e. the Muslims being the largest minority, and hardest to please,) vis-a-vis the native Hindus.
Muslim leaders, being Muslim leaders, would have demanded, first of all, the right to conduct da’wah. This Arabic word, an important term in Islamic law, is loosely translated as “proselytization”. But in the case of Islam, which believes in conversion by the sword, in lying for the faith, in the use of gang rape against infidel women as a legitimate tool of motivation, and which is the only “religion” to have its own war doctrine, the word “proselytization” has a sinister character it does not have for other denominations.
So the demographic gains that had been made under the Maratha Confederacy were eroded during the Raj, and the Indian Subcontinent under the British, like Indonesia under the Dutch, increased the proportion of its population that was Islamic.
Since the Muslim people of the Subcontinent form presently one of the greatest single reserves of Muslim population in the world, this old British demographic policy, never openly stated as such, and forgotten in the West today, in fact contributed mightily to the ticking timebomb of worldwide Islamic growth and resurgence which the human race is facing now.
And, not least, it eventually did its part specifically to advance the current reverse colonization of the British Isles. This is the British analog to the Islamic cultural, demographic, and kinetic threat that, in the context of the francophone Continental polities, I refer to as “la mission décivilitrice“.

ozzytrumpster

The Hindus have had enough of their shit and are becoming more militant. Hell even buddhists hate them

From your comment to Daughn:
“Education was one of their key musts. For all.”
Unfortunately, native British Fabian Socialists and Russian Bolshevik secret agents together put a pincer movement on the British education system throughout at least the first half of the 20th century.
Then Brits and Indians educated in this system, on one hand, and Operation Lion*, otoh, hit the Independence movement in another pincer action throughout the late Raj period, and after.
Meaning newly independent India was ruled by Socialists, Communists, other globalists, and those only influenced by the above. It took at least 46 years, from Independence in 1947, until the budget crisis, and resultant start of deregulation, in 1993, before the socialist/globalist neo-Colonialism of India could even start to be unravelled.
(And that’s just in the Indian Union. In the Muslim-majority parts of the erstwhile Crown Jewel, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Burma’s Rakhine State, by contrast, the cultural and political movement has been universally towards Islam, rather than away from socialism, or towards any sort of freedom or human dignity.)
The only true nationalists encountered in Indian political life during that long 46 year period were the young Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and the other opponents of Indira Gandhi’s pro-Soviet dictatorship around them, who form the kernel of the current BJP party. Or, much earlier, the heroic, but ultimately tragic, figure of India’s 2nd prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shastri Ji died of a Soviet-assisted medical accident at the successful conclusion of a historic 1966 trilateral peace treaty conference with the Pakistanis and Soviets, in Tashkent, Kazakhstan, USSR.
The scientist Shastri Ji had picked to head India’s first atomic bomb project died in a plane crash** in the Alps weeks after the PM’s assassination.
*Operation Lion is the name British novelist James Clavell used for Stalin’s covert project to end British colonialism, which kicked off in a big way no later than the end of WWII.
I don’t recall ever seeing the term outside of Clavell’s fiction (e.g. Noble House, Shogun, Tai Pan, etc.) So I’m not sure if that is the English translation of the real Russian name, or his poetic license. But whatever the correct name, the operation was certainly real, global in scope, and had enormous ramifications we have not begun to see the last of today.
**Per Q, 7 out of 10 plane crashes are targeted assassinations.
In my readings of biographical information over the past several decades, I have found this to be particularly true of planes in which the passenger manifest included persons who had made themselves obnoxious to the Moscow regime. My independent study has made Q’s otherwise unbelievable statistic seem quite plausible.

Have you seen this Woolf
Joe Rogan talks for 2 hours to one of the Navy Pilots who made one of the UFO videos released recently here:
If you don’t have 2 hours, here are the gems he gave up condensed into two minutes of reading or so. He saw the 40 foot long Tic Tac off the west coast in 2004, meeting it as it zipped back and forth over a cross-shaped area of roiling sea water in the middle of a calm ocean. As he approached it, it zoomed off to his CAP/rendezvous point for his exercise by instantaneously disappearing right in front of him and reappearing 60 miles away in a few seconds, traveling at about 7200 mph, which indicates it knew his operational plans for the exercise (and his CAP point) and was screwing with him. When first seen, the Tic Tac was above a 737-sized cross submerged in the water, zipping short distances with instantaneous jumps back and forth and left and right over it. The cross disappeared while they were screwing around with the Tic Tac. The gimbal video, where a disk rotates on its axis so it flies broad-on sideways into the air, making it less aerodynamic than it would have been flying flat and cutting through the air, was shot in 2015 off the east coast by his friend, as was the Go-fast video of a Tic Tac zooming over the water at high speed. In addition to the disk, pilots in 2015 on that float also saw what appeared to be solid cubes encased in a clear beach-ball-like sphere, which could have been a force field. They sound like sensor drones which were deployed stationary, not moving even in high winds, though one appears to have been moving when it almost hit one of their planes. The UFOs rise to 80,000 feet and descend to sea level in moments, and do it all day without refueling. They were seeing hundreds of them on the radar. They also flew in formations of five or six, and actively jammed their radars, which is technically an act of war. The Navy has just said near misses with these objects have begun to increase in frequency lately. There is a Mexican FLIR video of UFOs which could not be seen, except on FLIR, which he thinks are the Tic Tacs, and it was filmed in the same area as his sighting. He was later called by a woman who told him in the 1950’s, that her father was a Navy Liaison to the CIA on the west coast, and he showed her a telegram when she was a child, which noted a sighting of some kind of objects rising out of the sea and descending into the water off the coast at a specific Latitude and Longitude. He told her that they got those reports constantly, and it was always in the same place, implying a base the CIA and Navy might have been aware of back then. One of the pilot’s friends was a helicopter pilot near a bombing range in Puerto Rico. His job involved recovering test torpedoes that were launched full of sensors to test the torpedoes’ functioning, before they popped ballast and floated to the surface for recovery with all the data. On one recovery, he flew the helo out and was looking through the glass bottom as he hovered and a diver was lowered to hook the floating torpedo so it could be lifted and flown back. A large mass, not a submarine, came up under them in the crystal clear Caribbean water, just as he lifted the diver and the torpedo clear. Once they were clear it immediately descended into the deep and was gone. He thought it weird, but filed it away. A few months later, same operation, he was lowering the diver when the mass appeared and rose up under them in the water to just below the surface, and before the diver hit the water, the floating torpedo was suddenly sucked under and then the mass dropped and disappeared. He doesn’t think it is US, Russia, or China, but doesn’t really know. His friend who researches it thinks they have been here going back though time, they called up an old Renaissance painting of Christ being crucified and above him are two craft flying the way the gimbal craft flew, with little men inside them. There are hundreds of different types of crafts, maybe from different entities. Oddly enough the flight of the gimble craft exactly mimicked what Bob Lazar had described decades back as the flight method used by an alien craft the government recovered and was having him try to reverse engineer. Bob Lazar also described a one-piece formation back then with no wires or anything separate, which he thought was injection molding, but now that he has seen 3D printing, he assumes that is how they are made. The government has at least two programs examining this that we know of, and we will probably find out about more in the future.
The most interesting part of this is that there is a release of this information, and confirmation of it by the Military. You could not get an article printed in the New York Times if (((They))) did not want it printed. The release of this is part of a plan, though where it leads is unknown at present. Even more interesting is we appear to be seeing some sort of global change of guard which relates to an unseen power that has ruled the world for thousands of years, and as that is going on, this is being released. No guarantee they are related, but they could be.

Shooting illustrated notes that anyone who owns firearms for self defense should be very careful about policing all of their recorded communications at all times, like texts, emails, and web posting, as he cites a case where prosecutors subpoenaed a defensive shooter’s electronic communications and dug up quotes in his texts and emails which made it look like he would be prone to not use legally required restraint in matters of deadly force.
Lawmaker wants to make gun-free zones liable if someone is hurt. Be even better if it was extended to governmental firearms restrictions too. Would be great in cities too, as everyone who was a victim of a crime could sue the city then, so it should get even more support in high crime areas from those who are likely to be victimized.

IMO Keeping the Air Base at Incirlik should be rethought. While it is a tremendous asset for us in region it is also a tremendous stone about our neck when dealing with anything Turkey since Erdogan came into power and embraced the Islamic hardliners in his own country. The President’s hands would not be so bound had we not 5000 potential hostages (not counting the camp followers) and billions in equipment laying in Turkey’s back yard.
It might be wise at this point to incrementally start to turn the base over to the EU so we can exit it faster. Perhaps Erdogan will get the idea that we’ll only be returning to drop ordinance atop his head and might give the Turkish electorate pause in choosing their next leader.
All this, Erdogan’s rise to power, loosing Qaddafi in Lybia, goading Syria into becoming an international pariah, troubles in Egypt , capitulation toward Iran and the rise of ISIS can all be traced back to Obama and his Arab Spring. Most notably through the hench work of Clinton, Kerry, and Brennan among others.

https://publicpool.kinja.com/subject-background-press-call-on-developments-in-north-1838860081/amp?__twitter_impression=true
The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 7, 2019
BACKGROUND PRESS CALL
BY SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS
ON DEVELOPMENTS IN NORTHERN SYRIA
Via Teleconference
5:01 P.M. EDT
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Hi, this is [senior administration official]. I hope everyone is doing well today. There have been — there’s been a lot of news regarding the call with President Erdoğan yesterday, and U.S. plans for Syria.
What I thought I would do is just make a couple of quick comments and then open up for questions.
Number one, Turkey appears to be set on undertaking an operation in Northern Syria. That’s something that the U.S. has been able to dissuade the Turks from doing for the past two years, but it appears that the Turks are intent on some sort of military operation, possibly combined with an effort to resettle refugees.
The President has made it very clear, publicly and privately, that the United States does not endorse or support any Turkish operation in Northern Syria. There will be no U.S. Armed Forces involvement or support of any operation that the Turks undertake. We also made it clear that if Turkey undertakes such an operation, that U.S. troops cannot be put into any danger.
The President, after learning of the intended Turkish operation — although we have not seen any operation taking place as of now — made it clear, and rightly made it clear as Commander-in-Chief, that our small number of troops in the relatively small 20- to 30-mile safety zone or border region in Northern Syria should not be danger. We have a small number — you know, 50 to 100 special operators — in the region, and they should not be put at risk of injury, death, or capture in the event that the Turks do come over the border and engage in a — in combat with the local Kurdish forces.
So, as Commander-in-Chief, it was his obligation to remove that small number of troops who are there. There has been no announcement at present, and this does not constitute a withdraw from Syria. We’re talking about a small number of troops that will move to other bases within Syria.
That orderly withdrawal is taking place now, again, based on the information we have that the Turks are seriously considering or intend on a military operation in the region. And again, we’re not going to put our soldiers, sailors, airmen, or Marines at risk. But it’s a relatively small number of our troops, and they will be moving to more secure areas over the next several days.
There is certainly a concern — and it’s a concern that the President has made clear to the Turks — that such an operation could result in ISIS fighters, that were captured as a result of the United States defeat of the physical or territorial caliphate, being at risk of escape or somehow obtaining their freedom from those camps that are within the safety zone.
The President has made it very clear the United States position is, is that if Turkey does undertake an operation across the border, that it will become responsible for maintaining the captivity of those ISIS fighters. The United States also made it clear that if there’s any sort of a reconstitution of ISIS or any sort of ISIS activity in the zone of operations, that the Turks would bear full responsibility for dealing with that — you know, the potential for such a reoccurrence of violence on the part of ISIS.
Also, Turkey would bear full responsibility for any humanitarian issues or injuries to the civilians in the region and would be — as a military power engaged in offensive activities, would need to make sure that they did everything they could to protect the local populations.
With respect to the ISIS fighters, many of them are foreign fighters who are currently captive or prisoners, whether in the safety zone or in other camps around Syria. Some of those — or many of those foreign fighters originated in Europe. The President has made it very clear in his conversations with European leaders and with — and we’ve made it clear in our conversations with European capitals, that they — the Turks, the Syrians, the Iraqis — are responsible for the continued captivity of these ISIS terrorist fighters.
These fighters and their families are, under no circumstances, coming to the United States of America. And it’s been suggested by various players that we should make room for them at Guantanamo or some other place, but the President has said absolutely not. The U.S. taxpayer is not going to be responsible for the incarceration or detention of these ISIS fighters in the U.S. or on any U.S. base.
So with those thoughts, I’m going to open up to some questions.
There was a headline in the New York Times today that the President endorsed the Turkish operation in Northern Syria. There’s nothing — that could not be farther from the truth. That headline — and the headline may have been written by somebody who did not write the article, but we made it very clear that we, in fact, did not endorse and do not endorse any Turkish operation in Northern Syria.
And at least at this time, there is not — removal of the 50 to 100 U.S. soldiers from the safety zone where the Turks may incur is not the beginning of a formal pullout of Syria. Although — look, the President has said this on numerous occasions, and the American people want American troops as soon as possible. And that remains our ultimate goal, is to get American troops from the Middle East and to let the parties in the region determine their own future. But this is not the time for any such move right now. We’re moving 50 troops within Syria.
With that, I’ll open up to any questions. And again, thank you all for being on the line.
Q Hi, it’s Steve Herman from the Voice of America. As you’ve seen, there’s been widespread concern and alarm from leading Republicans, as well as key Democratic lawmakers, about this essentially giving a green light to Turkey to massacre the Kurds, allies of the United States in the fight against ISIS.
We heard what you said about the assurances of what would happen to Turkey if they step over the line, but can you tell us how the United States is in a position to actually prevent a wholesale massacre of the Kurds from happening?
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Well, listen, we have 50 special operators and Special Forces troops in the zone of operation. So, you know, the fact that we’re removing them is, number one, not a green light. In fact, we’ve made it very clear to the Turks that we do not endorse the operation, we don’t support the operation, and we’re not going to be involved in the operation.
So, for anyone to characterize the fact that the President is taking care to make sure that our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines are safe as somehow being a green light for a massacre is irresponsible and doesn’t comport with the reality of the situation.
So, look, Turkey is a large country. It’s got a big military. And if the Turks are going to — and they’re a NATO ally. So, you know, the United States is not in a position to — and will not be in a position to fight Turkey over, you know, any actions that it takes with respect to Syria. So there’s no green light. We’re protecting our troops. And we’ve made it very clear, and the President has made it very clear, that, you know, there should be no untoward action with respect to the Kurds or anyone else. I mean, he also sent out a tweet today saying that if there is some sort of attack or massacre of the Kurdish people, that he is prepared, I think in his words he said, to “obliterate the Economy of Turkey.”
So, you know, I think the United States has made its position on this issue clear. But the President’s first priority and first obligation, if the Turks are going to move in, is to ensure the safety of our troops in the area. And those 50 troops will be redeployed within Syria to a place where they’re not in danger of being caught in a crossfire.
Q This is Andrew Feinberg with Breakfast Media. Thanks for doing the call. I have two questions. The first is: Did the President ask for anything in return for us moving our troops away from this area? Or was he promised anything in return?
And the second question is: What happens when — if and when Turkish forces come in and massacre our former allies, as the previous question suggested? We have obligations under the U.N. Convention to Prevent Genocide. Are we going to fulfill those obligations, or are we not going to if it happens because Turkey is a NATO ally?
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Okay. Well, I’ve already answered the second question. And so, I guess you’re presuming that Turkey is going to commit genocide against the Kurds. I mean, I don’t have any information that would suggest that. But the President has made it very clear. Again, I’ll say it again, and, you know, the President made this clear in a tweet that he would “obliterate the economy of Turkey” if something of that nature occurs. So I think we’ve been very clear on that issue.
And with respect to the first question, I’m not going to get into the details of the call, but we were not asked to remove our troops. The President, when he learned of the potential Turkish invasion — knowing that we have 50 special operations troops in the region and in the zone of operations — made the decision to protect those troops and keep them out of a crossfire between, you know, look, heavily armed Kurdish forces, as well as heavily armed Turkish forces.
The last place we need is for light infantry special operators to be caught in between the engagements that could potentially occur in the region. So he made the decision. We weren’t asked to remove troops. The President made the decision on his own to remove the troops for their own safety from that zone of operations.
Q Hi, it’s Demetri Sevastopulo of the Financial Times. I have two questions. Did President Trump specifically tell President Erdoğan not to go ahead with the incursion? And did he also personally tell him that Turkey would face economic obliteration if the Kurds were hurt?
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: So the President’s tweet speaks for itself. So, you can take a look at that on your Twitter feed and on the —
With respect to the first question: The President made it very clear that this is not an action that the United States endorses or would any way be involved with. And I think there was a Defense Department statement out, as well, today that made it clear that our senior defense leaders explain to their Turkish counterparts what a very bad idea this was.
Q Hello, this is Toby Capion calling from EWTN. What protection remains for Christians and other vulnerable people in the area?
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Well, I don’t think there has been a President, certainly in my lifetime, that has been more attuned to the issue of religious freedom, especially religious freedom in the Middle East, than President Trump has been.
President Trump and Ambassador Brownback and Vice President Pence hosted a ministerial, at the recent U.N. General Assembly, on religious freedom, specifically focusing on, among other persecuted — people persecuted for their religious beliefs, Christians in the Middle East. And so, it’s an area of strong concern to us and it’s an issue that we continue to track and monitor extraordinarily carefully.
The mission of the 50 Special Forces soldiers in the zone — the 20-some-mile zone along the Turkish border — was not to protect religious minorities or religious facilities; it was to create a zone of safety to satisfy the Turks with respect to their concerns regarding the PKK. So those soldiers were not there protecting any sort of Christian village or Christian minority.
Having said that, the United States has made it very clear its position on religious freedom in the Middle East — in Syria, in Iraq, and other places. We’ve spent a lot of money. We’ve spent a lot of diplomatic efforts to ensure the protection of Christians there. Secretary Pompeo was just at the Vatican and there was an issue that was raised where — the issue of religious freedom by Christians in the Middle East was something that was raised with the Pope as well. So it’s an area where, I think, this administration has a tremendous record of support for religious freedom for Christians in the Middle East.
Q Hi, thanks so much for doing this. You said earlier that President Trump, quote, “made the decision on his own.” We’re receiving reports from Fox News that top leaders at the Pentagon were blindsided by this decision. So I’m wondering who did the President consult and who agreed with them that this was the right move? Thanks very much.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: And who asked that question? I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name.
Q Oh, sorry, my name is Hunter Walker with Yahoo! News. Sorry about that.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: All right. Thanks, Hunter. So I don’t know who would be blindsided at the Pentagon. That surprises me that anyone would say that because this is something that was, you know, discussed among senior leadership here at the White House, the State Department, and the Pentagon. Do I don’t know how anyone could have been blindsided. So I don’t know how to respond to that. That’s just a surprising question.
I’m not going to get into each and every one of the people that the President discussed these issues with, but he discussed them with his senior advisors in the defense, diplomatic, and folks here and staff here at the White House. So I’m surprised that anyone would be blindsided.
Now, it’s certainly an issue that there are folks that may not have a need to know what is going on with their senior leadership and the President, and decisions that are going to be made for national security. And so sometimes people that don’t have a need to know or that aren’t part of the decision chain may be a little disappointed because they weren’t part of it, and may call up friends in the press and tell them that they’re blindsided or that they should have been involved. But those are — look, I can’t — that’s not something I can help those folks (inaudible).
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: All right, thanks again everyone for joining the call today. As a reminder, this was on background, attributed to a senior administration official. Thanks.
END 5:20 P.M. EDT

“Thoughts?”

It reminds me of Dracula barring his fangs and hissing when someone inadvertently flashes a cross in his presence.
Like one monolithic unit, the Neo-Cons turn and hiss at President Trump in unison, like snakes on Medusa’s head.
Clearly, and it’s hard to imagine any credible dispute, these RINOs / NeoCons are aligned with SOME entity that is neither the President NOR America.
I mean, if these clowns fought THIS openly and directly for AMERICA, we would have had MAGA 30 years ago.
If Lady Betrayer Grahambo fought HALF as hard for AMERICA as he does for Kurdistan, America would be like Leonardo DiCaprio on the bow of the Titanic, arms spread wide, shouting “I’m King of the World!”
But they NEVER fight like this for America.
N E V E R.
Never, ever, EVER.
Not once in my whole life have these slimeballs fought for our country the way they fight against our President.
So it’s a giant TELL that someone either has their balls in a vice, to the point where they would sacrifice American lives gladly without the slightest care, or someone owns them financially.
It would have to be someone HUGE to own them financially, OR to have Epstein-like blackmail on them.
Someone the size of Soros, or a nation state, like China.
And I hope DJT nails all these traitors to the wall.

I laughed out loud at this part:
“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over…”
_______________
That’s the stuff that drives NeoCons and Trump haters into a frothing rage, lol!
It’s BIG TIME WRESTLING talk!
Who in the world TALKS this way, except when Vince McMahon is announcing “Let’s Get Ready to Ruuuuuuuumble!!!”
It’s so over-the-top that it’s hilarious, but at the same time, it actually cuts through all the noise and gets HEARD, precisely because it is so completely OUT of CHARACTER for any national leader to say, except for DJT.
He can do it, both because he has a history of outrageous statements (so the markets no longer crash every time he does it), and because he has shaken the world so much already, they have to take him seriously, even when his language sounds like it’s out of a cartoon.
And I LOVE it, lol!
There is NO WAY for the bad guys to combat this approach 😁
It’s like the way he’s all over the map in the press availabilities, but if you follow him enough to understand him, you can tell what he means, he’s just not saying anything that anyone can pin him down with in print.
He sounds like this: “Well I think we can make a deal, I know they would like to make a deal, but maybe we won’t, I’ve said I would like to make a deal, and a deal would be good for us, and a deal would certainly be good for them, so we’ll see what happens, I’d like to have a deal and a deal is certainly in their best interest, but I don’t know if they’re ready for a deal and I won’t make any deal unless it’s the best deal for our country.”
It’s hilarious and completely unintelligible, and if you ask him again, he’ll do it again, only longer and even better than before. He could go on like that for half an hour 😁
There is NO WAY to parse that for a soundbite or a newspaper quote. It sounds like total nonsense, unless you have context and understand what he’s doing, and why.
And you can’t explain the context of what he’s doing and why in a sentence or two, which is the attention span of the average Fake News talking head.
It’s an amazing thing to watch DJT absolutely confound his enemies 😂

Cocaine Mitch: “Major new conflict between Turkey and our partners in Syria would seriously risk damaging Turkey’s ties to the United States and causing greater isolation for Turkey on the world stage. ”
______________
The ONLY person risking Turkey’s ties to the United States is one Recep Erdogan.
The ONLY person causing greater isolation for Turkey is, again, Recep Erdogan.
And if he is determined to risk those things, there is nothing WE can do to stop him, and capitulating to his every desire certainly won’t accomplish.
All that will accomplish is lining your own pockets like always, because every time American takes a fall in the 1st round, it’s because our manager(s) made a deal with the Mob.
DJT is the first Manager we’ve had in decades who is not only letting us fight past the 1st round, he’s giving us the green light to fight to win.
And if we win, the Mob is going to go after the old managers.
And that’s what Cocaine Mitch and the NeoCons are actually worried about.
Not about America, but about their own corrupt backsides.

More on Kurd factions from BB article….
Martel also remarked on the news that President Donald Trump is moving 50 troops out of northwestern Syria elsewhere within the country, which sparked near-universal outrage in Washington.
“It’s 50 people, and they’re leaving Syria, they’re not coming home to a hero’s welcome, they’re going to a different part of Syria. The extent to which this is not a major move is incredible to me,” she noted, decrying “career opportunists who have now decided that they are Kurdish separatists” like Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT). Washington insiders condemned Trump for “abandoning” the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG/YPJ) who operate in Syria to the mercy of the Turkish army, which has been planning to invade the region for over a year.
“I remember in the 2016 election, a lot of Republicans who were running would talk about the Kurds as a monolith, that there is just one group of people who are Kurds and we like them. That’s not true,” Martel noted. “The Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units, who are the militias who help the United States, are allies to the PKK [Kurdistan Workers’ Party], who are a Marxist terrorist organization. And those are separate from the Iraqi Kurds, the Kurdistan Regional Government, who want nothing to do with the Syrian Kurds or the PKK. So none of this nuance was found anywhere in mainstream media yesterday.”
