Free speech, and the open exchange and hashing out of ideas is not only allowed, but encouraged. If we all don’t use it, we’re going to lose it. A little incivility goes a long way, though. Seriously, they want us divided, and fighting amongst ourselves is helpful to that cause.

Today’s Lectionary brings us the OTHER story of Jonah, Chapter 4:
Jonah was greatly displeased
and became angry that God did not carry out the evil

and the sun beat upon Jonah’s head till he became faint.
Then Jonah asked for death, saying,
“I would be better off dead than alive.”

“Have you reason to be angry over the plant?”
“I have reason to be angry,” Jonah answered, “angry enough to die.”
Then the LORD said,
“You are concerned over the plant which cost you no labor
and which you did not raise;
it came up in one night and in one night it perished.
And should I not be concerned over Nineveh, the great city,
in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons
who cannot distinguish their right hand from their left,
not to mention the many cattle?”

Btw, I’ve always found that scripture passage interesting, in that the first time God asked Jonah “Have you reason to be angry?” Jonah seems not to have answered. I doubt that he didn’t, and likely his response not worth recording, but if he didn’t….whew!

I could be mistaken, but I thought it was just within the past day that I read that Durham’s report will be out soon. Now they say he is expanding the scope of his investigation. Either he has already done that expansion and is almost ready to release the report, or there will be more delays. I’m just glad he is being thorough!
I came across someone noting that Rep Ratcliff had said the IG report was going finalized and going to be released very soon.
Looks like the difficulty Barr and Durham have had was having to hold up some of their investigating until the Mueller dog and pony show was done – to avoid squeals of obstruction.

Have you ever heard someone describe a terrible situation and say, “There was nothing left to do but pray”? Talking like that, prayer seems like a weapon of last resort. But prayer is far more powerful than that.
Read 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5 Pray for Us
3 Finally, brothers,1 pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,2 as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.3 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
As Paul peered into the future, he told the Thessalonians how the spirit of lawlessness will be unleashed globally (see 2:3-10). 3 Let no one deceive you in any way. Paul beseeched the Thessalonians, “[P]ray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you” (v. 1). Paul is asking his friends to pray that the Word of God—the same Gospel Truth that transformed them, gave them peace with God, and granted them eternal life—would reach the ends of the earth and be accepted by those who hear it.
When I read these words from the apostle Paul as he declares his dependence on the Thessalonians’ prayers for him and for his ministry, I am more convinced of the power of prayer and the priority it must have.
For, if the Lord Jesus Christ regarded prayer and fellowship with the Father as essential to life and ministry, how much more should we? For Jesus, intimacy with the Father was like the air He breathed and the food He ate. In fact, in John 4:34, Jesus said, “My food . . . is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” No one ever says, “I ate last week, so I’m not going to eat today.” Until seeking the glory of Jesus becomes like the air we breathe and the food we eat, we will not experience the fullness of what God has for us in prayer.
If you are a believer in Christ, you have been called to be a prayer warrior in His army and a laborer in His field until He returns or calls you home. Your prayers are desperately needed today, especially as the end of history draws near. Even now, God longs to empower your prayers so that His Word might spread around the world. So seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and just watch what He will do!
Prayer: Father, forgive me for taking this precious gift of fellowship with You for granted. I pray now for the lost in need of Your Gospel. Grant people the ears to hear and eyes to see Your goodness and their need for salvation. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

My daughter was learning how to ride, my Dad was instructing her. House up on a hill, bike in garage, Grandpa told her NOT to ride bike to the street, but instead to WALK it down. She disobeyed, could not stop at street, instead went flying across right into an auto. End of story, she ended up in hospital and had to have surgery. Thank the Lord she survived.

Yes, the problem with this is the little kid is too young to be zooming out across the street on his bike. He could very likely decide to do it on his own when his parents were in the house and not watching.
That’s a very steep driveway and he picked up a lot of speed quickly. Even if the bike had the best brakes, he likely couldn’t have stopped if a car came down the street.
A 10 year old boy on a bicycle rode out in front of a large pickup in Vancouver, just across the river from Portland, yesterday and died. He ran a stop sign. The truck driver was not speeding and couldn’t avoid the accident. They say he is heartsick.
Kids do foolish things with bicycles and shouldn’t be encourage to ride dangerously. The kid in this video could have easily broken his neck.

Andy I remember my youngest was about 8-9 and riding his bike in light drizzle. I had gone to the store his dad was home and there I saw my son riding down the hill toward the intersection full speed and thank God no car came. I slowly drove behind him because I did not wanted to scare him. When we arrived at home his bike was grounded for a month. Maybe harsh but I was angry. Needless to say since nothing happened we both laugh over it.
Then I find out that he was in college his friends and he drove at night down car garages full speed. He has not fear except one time he broke his collar bone flipping over his bike on a gravel road. He did not tell me until he was almost healed. Some kids even though they are brilliant academically do stupid stuff. He never did drugs he rarely drinks so I am not complaining 🙂

I always get $900,000 consulting fees from businesses and industries in which I have no experience too, so I could see how that might happen.

It depends.
If it’s an ongoing thing like remembering to put the toilet seat down (or to put it up first…), repetition is key. Like getting used to wearing your seat-belt, so it becomes habit.
Whatever the ongoing/repetitive thing is, make them do it at least ten times in a row. That might be enough for it to sink in.
If it’s a one-off kind of thing, threats or crying might work, but those have to be used sparingly, or they lose their effectiveness 😁

The yard is improved, and the dog can be outside without any problem, so the normal/standard repetitive activity (the guys letting the dog in the backyard) doesn’t have to be unlearned.

Those are different problems.
The dog should care where she goes, if by ‘goes’ you mean peeing or pooping. Ideally, she should have (and be trained to use) a designated area in the yard, preferably where there are no flowering weeds to give her a rash. That way the whole yard is not full of doggy landmines for kids to step in, or for whoever has the responsibility for cutting the grass.
If the men aren’t likely to want to pull weeds, that sounds a tool problem, a.k.a. lack of motivation problem. Men like tools, and lawn tools definitely count. If they have the proper tools, they will need an excuse to use them, and taking care of the flowering weeds gets top priority, especially if the flowering weeds are the reason the new tools are acquired for the guys to play with.
If the weeds are throughout the grass, that involves a longer term solution (some kind of yard treatment) that may not produce results until next spring.
If the flowering weeds are in a specific area, i.e., in a garden, along the side of the house, along the length of a fence, etc., that sounds like a job for a cordless weed-eater and maybe a leaf blower.
Weed-eaters and leaf blowers are fun tools to play with, and there are several good cordless models to choose from. If you don’t have one already, I would research Amazon for customer reviews, and pick a company whose cordless products get good reviews across the board, so the battery will be compatible with other cordless lawn tools as you acquire them (leaf blower, weed-eater, edger, hedge clippers, lawn mower, etc.).
“Ego” (using 56 volt lithium ion batteries) is one such company that gets a lot of positive reviews, and so far I have been happy with them 👍

Well, those are different problems.
Those two require assigning accountability, one way or another, otherwise everybody claims it’s not their fault or they didn’t know, etc.
And you can’t assign one guy to do it all the time, because he won’t think it’s fair if the other guys have no responsibility, so they need to alternate.
The next question is how often do you alternate? If it’s every day, that won’t work, because no repetitive pattern of behavior is ever established.
Changing who is responsible every week is usually workable, or the beginning of each month.
The key, or at least one of them, is consistency, so it becomes habit.

Can someone tell me though how a brilliant electrical engineer who also oversaw a department of over 500 engineers and other personnel, cannot fit even half the dirty dishes into a dishwasher that I can fit. Especially, an engineer who helps me by emptying the dishwasher. How can he not see/remember which items I fit where. (The dishwasher is only about 6 years old, so he’s emptied nearly every day for that time period.) And yes, I have to hunt for kitchen items often.

It sounds like the same game I play at my Mom’s house when my youngest nephew comes over for dinner.
I do the dishes, but my Mom has some obsessive-compulsive traits, and one of them is the way the dishes are put in the dishwasher.
She won’t put them in the dish washer herself, she just hovers nearby, scowling disapprovingly at me.
I realized years ago that there was no way to load the dishwasher exactly how she would do it, so I stopped trying. She takes every dish I put in the dishwasher and turns it a different direction, or puts it in a different slot, etc.
The more she does it, the more obviously inappropriate spot I choose for the next dish.
I try not to smile, and she tries not to let me see the smoke coming out of her ears.

FYI, While SD is being doubtful about the pending IG Report – expected to be released 10/18 per Maria Bartiromo, and POTUS’ indication. I was NOT disappointed that they didn’t get Comey on his “leaking” because it wasn’t the strongest charge by any means, and he gave the info to a special FBI asset – that was his cover. POTUS indicated Never Again, and I believe Barr and Durham are on the same page as our President. Wray might have been able to do anything more then appear wishy washy in the earlier days – having to “stand down” while the real unraveling took place – yes, over several years, and maybe more to come. Anyway, that’s my opinion.

Several observations.
1. MB may or may not be correct about 10/18. Dunno. Rep. Collins wrote on 9/13 that Horowitz had finished and given the completed report to Barr that day. ~5 weeks is unusually long for the final review—typical is 2-3 weeks. Discussed previously. And classification should not be a big delay, since Barr has declass.
2. Exec Sum is likely more accurate this time. The Clinton IG ES was prepared pre Barr. Barr has had Durham working for months now on the likely IG and certain Nunes criminal referrals concerning FISA. At a minimum we already know Comey has committed perjury; he signed the first FISA then told congress in sworn testimony the Steele dossier wasn’t verified. That is not so easily whitewashed, unlike FBI ‘bias’.

As for the rest…can’t speak to it other than pedestal sinks are not the best for spreading out the makeup. Long story.
Here’s how I roll…
If the lid is down (obviously the seat must be as well), then I will put both the seat and lid up to do my business and then put it all back down after.
But if I walk in and see the seat down with the lid up, then I will put the seat up, do my business, then use toilet paper to wipe the rim if necessary (I never fail to do this regardless), then leave it all up.
I give back what I get when it comes to the bathroom. Life is much simpler that way.

The best thing a read was that you must leave the toilet seat down to stop the flushing away of prosperity. Money down the toilet. My man likes money so he complies without a peep.

As far as I can tell, if there is a logic component involved at all, it has to do with approach angle.
Men approach facing forwards, so it’s easy to see if the lid is up or down and react accordingly.
As best as I can gather, women approach facing away from the toilet, backing up toward the toilet, and apparently they’re often in a hurry, so it’s easy to forget to check the for the seat in an emergency, which can result in a kind of reverse bidet effect. 😁
This is (presumably) exponentially worse than touching the toilet seat, especially if she was in a hurry to go, and now has to wait even longer, while she dries herself off, curses under her breath, and plans to murder whoever left the seat up.

My deal is seat and lid are down but mr gil refuses. I had 1.6 gpf toilets put in. Mr gil is like a cat meeting a tp roll, always uses a lot. Needed a stronger flush. On that note, it splashes. Id rather water hit the lid than the wall or floor. Also, things fall in, esp if one misses the trash can with a qtip. Cant flush those.
And, I always close it after everyone bc I dont want to look in the bowl until ive got to clean it.
I have 3 cleaners per bowl. Bowl cleaner, spray for the exterior, then lysol. Plus cleaning the switch, area floor, doorknob, but etc.
And my bathroom never ever looks like that pic.
Mine either – I like stuff put away and the counter clear. When building (or buying) a house, I always make sure I have plenty of storage in bathrooms.

By the way, I’m LIKING this whole argument! Utterly entertaining! I had no idea that the presumption of seat-down-state was a gender differentiator, but it makes sense and explains things. Men are just in the habit of checking the target radius, eyes forward. Women are not. If women are not PAYING ATTENTION then they get the INVERSE equivalent of what happens to really groggy or drunk men – peeing on the LID DOWN. Men are normally protected against that kind of big mistake whether it’s seat up or down, but WOMEN are not. And even drunk men are eyes forward and can usually remember to lift the lid. If a drunk woman sits on the lid, no biggie.
Drunk or sober, when it’s urgent and it’s dark, we sometimes forget to look. It’s the seat raised that offers normal sized women the danger of falling in and sitting on that cold hard porcelain rim which is annoying – but your double wide ladies don’t have that problem. I’ve even heard of one large lady getting stuck due to suction/vacuum created between rear end and rim of toilet. A fire crew had to be called to remove her.
Nope – it’s not emotional, FG&C, it’s a practical, relational etiquette matter. And any man without empathy is in danger of divorce.
I will say, that I’d be about as “puttin’ up with” my wife trying to dictate about the den, garage, or other utility areas, as she is about me with the kitchen or bathroom. 😉

Now they exist with in the borders of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria. All Islamic hard line countries. It’s unreasonable to expect the president can redraw the map. Kurds loose again when all they want is people to respect their customs. The major custom they want people to respect is the equality between the of sexes. A desire we share in common. However being surrounded by hard line Islamist’s makes that very difficult for them.
But wait. Aren’t most Kurds Islamic. Answer yes, but in Islam its their way or death. This then has many Kurds adopting a form of Islam where they can survive and still control their autonomy. Think of it as being passive aggressive. They shake their head yes and then do what they wish. It is normally enough for the leaders of these Islamic countries as they don’t want the headache, however at the local level Islamic hardliners keep pushing their brand of Islam because they know the Kurds are not being faithful to Allah when they are unwilling to treat their woman as chattel.
