Dear KMAG: 20200127 Open Topic

This Merry Warrior Monday Open Thread is VERY OPEN – a place for everybody to post whatever they feel they would like to tell the White Hats, and the rest of the MAGA/KMAG/KAG world (with KMAG being a bit of both).

Yes, it’s Monday…again.

But it’s okay! We’ll get through it.

Free Speech is practiced here at the Q Tree. But please keep it civil.
Discussion of Q is not only allowed but encouraged. Imagine that! We can talk about Q here and not get banned.

Please also consider the Important Guidelines, outlined here. Let’s not give the odious Internet Censors a reason to shut down this precious haven that Wolf has created for us.

Wheatie’s Word of the Day:

Falderal

Falderal means “nonsense or foolish talk”. It can also refer to “a knickknack or gew-gaw”.

Alternate spellings: folderol, folderal and falderol.

The term originated as a nonsense word in the refrain of songs, dating back to Old English ballads and plays.

Used in a sentence: The Dirty Dems continue to spew forth their malicious falderal in their attempts to frame our President for things he didn’t do.

“Adam Falderal can yo-ho-ho to gell!”
Hey, English can be fun! 😀

Kiddo is a excellent reader and speller but his speech is still developing. I cant get him to do a “th” yet, its still a “fw”. This is a good word to teach him.

GA/FL

When I was a kid in the South, old folks used to say, “That’s a lot falderal and bally hoo!”
That’s what the Democrat Impeachment amounts to – falderal and bally hoo – a heap of palaver.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Ha! I heard “poppycock”, “balderdash”, and “malarkey”!

CO2 concentrations up to 95,000 ppm bubbling out of the ocean floor
January 26, 2020 by Robert
More than 200 times the concentration of manmade CO2 in the atmosphere (just over 400 ppm) … and we’re worried about the puny amount that humans emit?
__________
Science Alert’s headline reads “Divers Discover a Magical Bubbling Underwater Spring on The Ocean Floor.”
Really? Magical Bubbling Underwater Spring? I don’t know much about Science Alert, so I don’t know whether they’re trying to downplay this finding or not.
However, a press release from the University of Texas used a much more honest headline: “Deep Diving Scientists Discover Bubbling CO2 Hotspot.”
The amazing bubbling location, which geoscientist Bayani Cardenas captured on video, is not a climate change nightmare. It is linked to a nearby volcano that vents out the gases through cracks in the ocean floor, and has probably been doing so for decades or even millennia.comment image
When Cardenas, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin Jackson School of Geosciences, went diving off the coastline of the Calumpan Peninsula in the Philippines, he and his coauthors found the ocean floor bubbling like champagne, pumping out vast amounts of carbon dioxide.
They dove about 60 meters (200 feet) down in “Soda Springs”, a high CO2 hotspot, where they measured CO2 concentrations from 60,000 ppm to as high as 95,000 ppm, more than 200 times the concentration of manmade CO2 in the atmosphere. The scientists traced the CO2 back to cracks in the ocean floor venting gasses from an underwater volcano.
The CO2 levels fall quickly away from the seeps as the gas is diluted in the ocean, but the gas still creates an elevated CO2 environment along the rest of the coastline of the Calumpan Peninsula, with levels in the 400 to 600 ppm range.
These high CO2 environments are actually close to thriving reefs, said Cardenas. “How does it work?”
Let me say it again: More than 200 times the concentration of manmade CO2 in the atmosphere (just over 400 ppm) … and we’re worried about the puny amount that humans emit?
And when your remember that there are more than three million underwater volcanoes, and that they could all be pumping out similar amounts of CO2, well, you get my drift…

daughnworks247

What a cool place to dive.

ozzytrumpster

E like swimming in champagne

cthulhu

I’d be concerned about having to do an ESA, hitting the surface, and getting a hit of CO2. It’d be almost like an overhead environment.

Greenies take note: between volcanoes and termites that have been on earth for millions of years we would have never flourished as a species.
Scientists have calculated that termites alone produce ten times as much carbon dioxide as all the fossil fuels burned in the whole world in a year.
Side note, plants and trees love CO2

Gail Combs

The Earth is at CO2 STARVATION LEVELS!!!
It is CO2 STARVATION that is the real problem according to peer-reviewed papers:
Carbon starvation in glacial trees recovered from the La Brea tar pits, southern California
*http://www.pnas.org/content/102/3/690.full
Most food crops are C3. C4 plants evolved more recently because of CO2 starvation.
Royal Society: Carbon dioxide starvation, the development of C4 ecosystems
http://rstb.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/353/1365/159
Impact of lower atmospheric carbon dioxide on tropical mountain ecosystems

Abstract
Carbon-isotope values of bulk organic matter from high-altitude lakes on Mount Kenya and Mount Elgon, East Africa, were 10 to 14 per mil higher during glacial times than they are today. Compound-specific isotope analyses of leaf waxes and algal biomarkers show that organisms possessing CO2-concentrating mechanisms, including C4 grasses and freshwater algae, were primarily responsible for this large increase. Carbon limitation due to lower ambient CO2 partial pressures had a significant impact on the distribution of forest on the tropical mountains, in addition to climate. Hence, tree line elevation should not be used to infer palaeotemperatures.

TRANSLATION:
“Compound-specific isotope analyses of leaf waxes and algal biomarkers show that organisms possessing CO2-concentrating mechanisms, including C4 grasses and freshwater algae” means plants using C4 pathway and not the older C3 pathway used by trees. Most of our food is C3 pathway.
As you go up a mountain, low CO2 partial pressure, and not temperature limits trees.
Plant responses to low [CO2] of the past

The authors compared gas exchange rates of two populations of Oxyria digyna – one from high altitude (Logan Pass, MT, USA) and the other from sea level (mouth of the Pitmegea River, AL, USA). Seeds from these populations were grown under common conditions and photosynthetic rates were measured across a wide range of [CO2]. The authors found that photosynthetic rates were higher and CO2 compensation points were lower in offspring that originated from alpine populations, and suggested that this may reflect adaptations to lower CO2 partial pressure at high altitude. The authors also concluded that low CO2 partial pressure, and not temperature, limited the upward distribution of the Oxyria populations in this case.

………….
I want 1500 ppm of CO2.
………….
When we head into the coming cold dry period either as a new glaciation or as the cold period between to precession-cycle peaks, I want that 500 ppm cushion as the oceans become colder and suck down more CO2. And who knows maybe the extra CO2 will add that tiny bit of extra energy necessary to keep the earth out of a full blown glaciation.
This is based on Lisiecki and Raymo’s conclusion in A Pliocene-Pleistocene stack of 57 globally distributed benthic D18O records.
Lisiecki and Raymo produced an exhaustive analysis of 57 globally distributed deep ocean cores reaching back about 5 million years that refutes the MODEL used by NASA.

…the June 21 insolation minimum at 65N during MIS 11 is only 489 W/m2, much less pronounced than the present minimum of 474 W/m2. In addition, current insolation values are not predicted to return to the high values of late MIS 11 for another 65 kyr. We propose that this effectively precludes a ‘double precession-cycle’ interglacial [e.g., Raymo, 1997] in the Holocene without human influence….
http://large.stanford.edu/publications/coal/references/docs/Lisiecki_Raymo_2005_Pal.pdf

The paper Can we predict the duration of an interglacial? agrees and gives the calculated solar insolation values @ 65N on June 22 for several glacial inceptions. The current solar insolation sits in the middle of that cluster.
……….
Too bad the Warmists are unable to read and comprehend what these papers are telling them.
……….
A couple more points:
“The optimum CO2 level for most plants is about 1600 parts per million, four times higher than the level today. This is why greenhouse growers purposely inject the CO2-rich exhaust from their gas and wood-fired heaters into the greenhouse, resulting in a 40-80 per cent increase in growth.” – Patrick Moore Greenpeace founder.
Human blood must contain 5% CO2 or you suffer from hypo/hypercapnia. Medical Oxygen (the green bottle stuff) must contain 5% CO2, which is 130 TIMES the atmospheric level or you cannot balance your blood pH. CO2, in levels below 80,000 PPM, is NOT a toxin.
The IPCC actually said in the Science Report in TAR:
“In climate research and modeling, we should recognize that we are dealing with a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore that the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.’ – I 2001 section 4.2.2.2 page 774

Seriously – how deluded and gullible are people who subscribe to this nonsense ?
Rosco Mac
1. I have a million molecules of ordinary air – how many do you think are CO2 ? (We should all know there are less than 400.)
2. I have a million molecules of ordinary air how many do you think are methane ? (We should all know there are less than 2.)
3. Why do you think that such insignificant amounts of stable gases can cause the temperature of the remaining 999,958 molecules of air to rise by any significant amount?
The alarmists are seriously deluded. The IPCC, established in 1988 was charged with establishing that mankind was causing global warming by emitting tiny amounts of a stable non flammable gas.
32 years and billions of wasted dollars later they best they can come up with is fake data, fake graphs, a child advocate who dropped out of school and the ridiculous claim that today’s children from wealthy countries suffer climate degradation worse than child sex slavery or the equivalent of forced labour in the “salt mines” and the hyping of the misery of those who have lost possessions or, worse, their lives due to completely natural disasters.
All in the name of how many failed attempts to overthrow democracy, introduce a regressive carbon tax, and probably prepare to remove a large proportion of the human race from the planet permanently.
Seriously – how deluded and gullible are people who subscribe to this nonsense ?
Of course it’s a scam !

Many thanks for posting them.

cthulhu

I think I may have spotted some Turtle sleight-of-hand.
You may recall that the original Impeachment Rules said “24 hours of speechifying from each side over two days each, and there’d be motions to include information from the House bushwah (which people thought would reasonably exclude 90% of it as hearsay)”.
This (like EVERYTHING ELSE) resulted in wailing, squealing, and gnashing of teeth…..so a “weakened” Turtle had to concede that each side’s 24 hours of speechifying could take place over three days…..and that ALL of the House’s “evidence” transferred to the Senate.
My question is whether that ALL includes the transcript of the 18th Deposition, the heretofore impounded testimony of ICIG Atkinson, where the whistleblower and Schiff are revealed to be liars and complicit in fraud. If that were made available to the defense when McConnell “caved”, Monday is going to ring like a bell.

sallyal

Iirc, Atkinson’s testimony was termed a “briefing” enabling it to be classified. Meaning it was not testimony. Falderal indeed. Malarkey too!

cthulhu

Is it in the package or not? We’re about to find out.

patfrederick

it’s not part of the impeachment record. that’s been stated already.

bakocarl

It may depend on the definition of “evidence”. If the House Dimms don’t bundle up the 18th Deposition and send it over to the Senate, it’s because those Dimms don’t consider that deposition to be evidence and, voila, it’s not evidence.
All things are only what the Dimms consider them to be. Nothing else matters.

Saying good night and also thank you to kind commenters who responded to something I posted earlier and to everyone else.
I am so sorry I was unable to respond earlier in a timely manner. I was out most of the day but I wanted you to know that when that happens I always try to check back in at the end of the day even if it is too late to comment.
I also save this site for “dessert” at the beginning of the day after I plow through the news. Here there is wholesome, grounded goodness that stays with me through the course of the day and helps sweeten my thoughts.
Thinking of how busy you all are yet still making time to share so much with the rest of us makes me aware of how blessed we are to be here.
You are all heroes to me…steadfast, earnest in striving to do right, valiant through adversity, compassionate, courageous, and honest among other good things.
I have learned so much here, and not just politically. Life lessons have been taken to heart from you good people and I know that it is a privilege and honor to be a part of this.
Blessings all.
Good night.
Thank you so much!

Sorry folks, I couldn’t get the picture to post as it’s buried in the LIFELOG wall. . .
DAN CRENSHAW
U.S. Congress
The Log Cabin Republicans have worked tirelessly for conservative causes and candidates. They were there for me in 2018 when I ran for office, working hard and playing a significant role in our grassroots campaign.
I support the effort for Log Cabin Republicans to be recognized as a coalition organization of the Texas GOP. For our Party to win at the local, state, and national levels, we need to embrace all that support our conservative policy and principles. Disagreements over certain policy issues should not be enough to exclude a group that shares the vast majority of conservative governing principles.
I look forward to continue working with Log Cabin Republicans and I strongly encourage our Party leadership to include them within the Party hierarchy.
Sincerely,
Dan Crenshaw
PAID FOR BY CRENSHAW FOR CONGRESS

pgroup

Well, Dan, be prepared to lose all your conservative Christian supporters once they find out you’re backing queers as an identity group. See, Dan, that is what Democrats do – separate people out. It’s hard to assimilate if you need to primarily identify with a distinct group.
Time to dust off and update your resume.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Actually, you have a point there. The question is, even if one supports gay marriage, decriminalization, etc. as legal principles, does doing so as an identity group help the Republican cause? Almost certainly not, if it furthers identity politics.
Interesting.

michaelh

Back in the Tea Party days there were a lot of fresh new faces working to become involved in the GOP party apparatus. As this influx was growing there were platform fights at the various district meetings. An inordinate amount of time and attention was burned up because certain parties were opposed to certain language in the platform that at the time was widely supported against redefining marriage. I saw one meeting where what should have been 90 minutes tops spread into a four and a half hour hot mess with all kinds of parliamentary problems. It was very discouraging across the board, lots of the new tea party attendees were disgusted. Many gave up, others kept fighting, going to the state convention, only to watch the social conservative for the state party chair get defeated to a guy who wanted only pure economic issues. Well, he was effective with the party for economic issues, and he did balance the party’s budget and get the party debt paid off. But the net effect was the Tea Party voices were squelched at precisely the time of peak Tea Party.

pgroup

What you describe as a waste of time is what I describe as a refusal to allow moderates and Libertarians to pollute the nascent tea party. I don’t think any such oral fights are unnecessary. There are a bunch of “Christian” churches that thought getting along was a good thing.
Now, those churches are a stain upon our society equal to Sodom & Gomorrah. The tea parties wanted to be a refuge from the overt sins of the world, despite the driving force being excess taxes and govt over-reach.
I’d rather avoid getting sick than get cured once I am sick, if I had a choice. Sometimes, one has to fight for the freedom to say principles matter. IMO, it is not a waste of time to fight such a battle. It is sad that some people think they have a duty to infect differing-thinking groups with their bullshit instead of forming their own groups.

para59r

Agrees, one of the small joys in life was first hearing a one Stacy Washington on radio. A conservative smart talker in the DC circuit that I listened to for at least two hours before I figured out she might be, might be, black cause she never said.

MysticRose80

Agreed. You also have folks who exited the Democrat party because of identity politics (among other things, of course)….crossed over to the Republican side….only to be met with the SAME identity politics they ran away from in the first place.
Do better, Dan Crenshaw.

for only $3, you can buy a chance to win one of the Lost Corvettes!!!

Imagine winning 36 Corvettes – one each from the first 36 years of the iconic sports car’s history, beginning in 1953.
That’s exactly what happened to Dennis Amodeo in 1989, when he won cable TV network VH1’s contest to give away all of the ‘Vettes to one person. Two million people entered the contest, and the Long Island carpenter was the winner.
Soon after, he sold the vehicles to German-American artist Peter Max, and the cars ended up store in New York City garages for the next few decades.
Now, the cars, which came to be known as the “lost Corvettes” since they were hidden from public view for so long, will be given away again – this time to 36 different winners – in a sweepstakes to benefit the National Guard Education Fund.comment image

“A person who aids, abets, or encourages another to commit a crime but who is not present at the scene. An accessory before the fact, like an accomplice, may be held criminally liable to the same extent as the principal. Many jurisdictions refer to an accessory before the fact as an accomplice.”
21-year-old Reeaz Khan ALREADY HAD a history of violence.

January 19, 2020
…Khan is a Guyanese national who was in the country illegally. Additionally, Khan had a violent criminal record. He was arrested in November after stabbing his own father [with a broken coffee cup.] While he was detained, immigration enforcement ordered Khan to be detained. Had the NYPD followed the detainer order, Khan would have been turned over to ICE. Instead, pursuant to de Blasio’s “sanctuary city” policy, the alleged violent criminal was released back into the streets….

So he was arrested and then released instead of held without bail or being turned over to ICE.

Remembering Kobe Bryant: Formed and saved by his Catholic faith
How a priest changed Kobe Bryant’s life
This article was originally published in April of 2016. Sadly, Kobe Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and the three others, passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. May they rest in eternal peace.

And Vindman’s brother is the one who clears such communications.
Yeah, right…………
Things that Miss Daughn does not believe:
1. Adam Schiff is motivated by honorable intentions.
2. Stormy Daniels slept with the President in 2006, didn’t tell anyone, waited for 10yrs, didn’t go to Gloria Alred or cash in with a Hillary donor……no…… instead waited for Michael Avenatti……… and settle for 130K.
BECAUSE = If it had been me, I wouldn’t take less than 10 million, and sure as heck, Michael Avenatti would have asked for 10 million.
3. The President told John Bolton, in a private conversation with no one else there, that he wanted to hold Ukraine aid to make sure they investigated Biden corruption, as Trump was worried about running against Biden in 2020.
BECAUSE = You don’t tell 9/10 people one thing, and ONE person something completely different. Goes against human nature AND President Trump was rarely alone with Bolton – he was on his way out by then.
BECAUSE = Biden was a joke, especially in the beginning of his campaign, and not expected to go the distance, last person in the world Trump would be worried about running against would be Biden.

Bolton’s book is due out March 17. The title is “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir.” Publisher is Simon & Schuster, one of the big five.
This is Bolton’s third book. The first two are:

Gail Combs

Simple answer YES!!!
We HAD the methods back in the 1970s to help people help themselves. To ‘Teach Them To FISH’
Fifty years later nothing much has changed so WHY toss good money after bad? LEAVE CHARITY TO THE CHURCHES!
From Chiefio: A story about reversing desertification, description of a legume tree that helps, and of an Agronomy System that can change poor rural lives. Leucaena leucocephala collection of links

Back in the ’70s or so I saw an article…. It was an Indian (as in India) name, and they tend to ‘runtogetherforme’ … I think the article might have been in Mother Earth News, or perhaps something more technical….
The basic thrust of the article was about a place in India where there was a lot of “Desertification” happening.
….What “stuck in my brain” were the method, and a strong visual of the location. They had “before” and “after” pictures of the same location with The Good Doctor seated in the same place. Just “night and day”….

I also remember seeing this information in the late 1960s early 1970s. HOWEVER it does not help the DE-POPULATION goals of the Elite.

duchess01

The de-population goals of the elite – are for their own benefit – they could care less if you prove them wrong – their goal is to have enough ‘slaves’ to serve them – it is easier to control a small group of people than to control millions around the world –
So many things have come to light – that will astonish the masses – but, they will not allow them to be released – perhaps PT will release them one by one – dunno

I saw it local. Gruesome is having conniption fits over it. Everyone hates the guy. This helps us, now to elect Rs in this state would be great.

ladypenquin

When my greatgrandparents/grandparents immigrated they had to have a sponsor, job prospects, etc. None of this coming in and getting free welfare. They went to work.

gil00

Thats fair and they just wanted to work anyways. All of these now got the gimmes. It started in CA decades ago and with the COC helping Rs and Ds in their corruption since. Im grateful the SC has had enough.

singingsoul1

ladypenquin I had to have a sponsor also and that was 1964. They were responsible for me and for any cost I endured healthcare and upkeep. My husbands parents at first were my sponsor and then my husband took over and I have been a kept women ever since 🙂 🙂 🙂

https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/doj-hires-antitrust-staff-broad-investigation-big-tech-firms-accelerate
The US Department of Justice Antitrust Division has been on a hiring spree amid investigations into Silicon Valley tech giants, according to Reuters, citing two DOJ officials with knowledge of the matter.
The department is scheduled to post an advertisement for positions, potentially on Monday, for additional attorneys, paralegals with an interest in tech and others to work in San Francisco to focus on the tech industry, one of the sources said.
A job posting for five people for two-year Washington positions that dates from November specifies that the attorneys hired will work on a broad investigation of major digital technology firms into whether they engage in anticompetitive practices. The posting includes a link to the agency’s press release announcing the probes. -Reuters
Companies such as Amazon, Facebook and Google are facing a litany of antitrust probes by the US government, along with Congressional investigators and state attorneys general.
“We have capacity to take on a good number of folks,” said the source, who added that the number of new hires in the antitrust division will depend on the caliber of applicants.
The division works in conjunction with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to analyze mergers to ensure they are legal, as well as accusations of price-fixing

Have we heard anything from Bolton today?
I’m stuck on NYT surprise this morning is a “good guy” snare that has caught a NSC leaker, AND gave D-Rats and MCM false narrative they’ll eat when debunked.
While Bolton IS a snake, Bolton stating that President Trump told him to hold up aids until investigations started in Ukraine is, IMO, ignorant for Bolton to do. Increased books sales simply can’t vaildate such a stoopid decision by Bolton.
thinking this is a trap the D-Rats AND MCM fell for. Very close hold the folks that would know trap details.

🦋🤸‍♀️🦋bflyjesusgrl🦋🤸‍♀️🦋

Fred Fleiss on with Laura said he recently talked to him, wouldn’t discuss details. But believes Bolton’s team did not leak. Laura pushed back saying Bolton knows how DC works and should/would know that it would leak. Fleiss said multiple times that he thinks it was a mistake, definitely shouldn’t have been released during the impeachment and Bolton should withdraw his book. It should not be released until after the election.
Another good segment with Nunes, Gaetz, and BIggs about the need to get rid of Schifty, especially from Go8, as well as the need to gut the NSC.

daughnworks247

Media evening broadcast = “well, Bolton hasn’t denied the news”

Of course there was coordination

kalbokalbs

Yea, it all smells.
Grateful Derch addressed the Bolton NYT rumor mill.
AND totally obliterated NYT, D-Rat and MCM talking points. true or not, Bolton rumors do not rise to impeachment level OR abuse of office.
Many key Rs also onboard. Gotta get mittens, Collins, Murkowski, Lamar to see Bolton rumors are simply another distraction.
Guessing a Friday vote to dispense with witnesses. Then to acquit. Latter Friday or Saturday.
Betting we win on it all.

Tomorrow, along with Daily thread, there will be several posts.
First and foremost is the FLEP Good News thread. (don’t miss out on the good news while we are distracted with Shampeachment or other things).
Other stuff if you get a chance:
A. The Tuesday Shampeachment Thread (starts at 1:00PM Eastern Time)
B. The Trump women are killing it for shampeachment, which includes the videos of Jane Raskin and Pam Bondi. Isolated video, easy to share from Golden State Times.
C. The background on Middle East Peace Plan, photos and videos from today + transcript, and the links for tomorrow’s big announcement. ((Announcement at NOON, Eastern time, White House)
D. THE BIG RALLY THREAD
No sense in working tomorrow, won’t get anything done.

Iowa caucus is February 3rd! A week from today.
Team Trump is sending 80 people to canvas the state.
“For the Feb. 3 caucuses, the Trump campaign is planning an ambitious show of force around the state, with over 80 surrogates expected to campaign at caucus locations. The push will be led by campaign manager Brad Parscale, the president’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, as well as Eric Trump’s wife Lara Trump, who works for the campaign and Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, also a campaign adviser.
The group heading to Iowa includes White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and a number of cabinet members, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson. Also attending are members of Congress, among them House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) , Rep. Elise Stefanik, (R., N.Y.) and Rep. Mark Meadows (R., N.C.), as well as Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and governors from surrounding states”

OK I’m going to post this now, rather than waiting for the new thread to pop…
It is instructive, every so often, to read some unvarnished raw opinion and fake history that haunts the left.
Coming from “Rolling Stone” – well, you really can’t expect much.
We need to remember how blind these people are, and why. This article claims to be about the “Christian Right” but like so many pieces from the left, it says more about them and their projection than anything else.

…False Idol — Why the Christian Right Worships Donald Trump …

* An outstanding amount of bad history, particularly on “fundamentalism”. Heavy cherry picking. Clearly this not a person acquainted with George Marsden or Mark Noll.
* Talks about “Christian dominionists” – a favorite leftist bugaboo is to get all afraid about a group of people with less political influence than the Shelby County Little League Club. I’ve seen this trope over and over for at least fifteen years – I even posted about it over a decade ago and made “The Yurica Report” (no longer online) mad at me.
* It’s hard to believe that a million woman marchers wearing pink you-know-what hats are really offended by a Trump video tape but aren’t bothered at all that “50 Shades” sold 80 million copies in the U.S.
* Says “I was raised a child of the Christian right. I know what they believe because the tenets of their faith are mine too.” I’m sorry that this person was traumatized by their childhood, and I hope that they are able to recover. But seriously, what this person describes is pretty doggon alien, like it beamed down from the mothership.
* “Before the Civil War, Christian abolitionists fought not just for the end of slavery but also for prison reform” As has Trump – see the First Step Act, which was BI-PARTISAN, incidentally, unlike this hit piece.
* Standard set of “Christians are anti-science” tropes. Yes, I know how to use Maxwell’s equations, thank you.
* He complains about Trump calling out fake news, but never mentions H. L. Mencken’s false reporting of the Scopes trail. (He probably also doesn’t know that H. L. Mencken greatly respected J.Gresham Machen and wrote a favorable obituary of him.)
* There is no mention that the early fundamentalist movement was a Northern and urban phenomena. There is no explanation provided on how it became associated with the rural South. Most pop history of Fundamentalism is full of astonishing gaps. It’s similar to the left’s conspiracy theory of the GOP’s “Southern Strategy” which neglects the radical socio-economic changes in the South in the 1970s. Something that Daughn has talked about on more than one occasion 😉
* The author wrongly believes that Russell Moore’s “wings were clipped”. This is – unsurprisingly – wildly ignorant of the current leftist insurgency in the SBC of which Russell Moore is a key player. He also shows very little care of the dark money being funneled into Moore’s ERLC to promote “immigration”, which has been outlined here.
* “I returned to America to discover a rich tradition of progressive Christianity, with thinkers like Rob Bell and Rachel Held Evans” In itself, that’s rich. Bell and Evans are like bar tenders that give thirsty men alcohol to quench their thirst, a shallow faux Christianity. I was surprised when I learned one of my co-workers at another job had Bell as a close family relative.
* An outstanding example of projection: “These faith leaders helped me see that no one political party had a monopoly on God; that Jesus himself was revolutionary, upsetting hierarchies wherever he went; and that a form of Christianity that could be co-opted by a political agenda was suspect at its core.”
* “What is Christian about what’s happening at the border right now?” I dunno, what is Christian about allowing drugs, human trafficking, and violence against the weak and powerless in society to continue? How is that justice?
* “What is Christian about the economic policies since Trump took office?” I dunno, what’s wrong with caring for the poor by ensuring that they have jobs? He complains about “income inequality” – while Trump has raised the MEDIAN U.S. worker wage to the highest level in U.S. history, with the greatest wage growth occurring in the lowest wage groups. I’d say that’s caring “for the least of these”.
* “Parts of the Old and New Testaments imply very strongly that there’s not just a judgment of individuals, but there’s a judgment of nations,” and America is a net blessing – for its own people and the world. Only one other nation exists that could be said is better, and the left wants to boycott divest and sanction it.
* Complains about “Ideology” – as if the left isn’t an ideology, and everyone else is ideological. A favorite trope since Napoleon deployed it in the French Revolution against his enemies.
* Follows uncritically every media pundit that conflates economic nationalism and ethnonationalism, which is the basis for saying that a man who has received many awards from African American organizations for his support of inner city initiatives and for his work with race reconciliation is a… well, you know.
* Stunning projection, an shockingly honest NeoMarxist definition: “‘religious liberty’ is code for protection of white, Western cultural heritage.” Most people know better than to state these kinds of falsehoods out loud, because it exposes too much. Like most antifa fascists, the goal is to enforce conformity to the doctrines of NeoMarxism, individual conscience be damned. Even atheists and pagans won’t be safe with this kind of thinking. If you have no right of conscience, what rights DO you have? Even the author of this article is going to end up sent to a re-education camp by his comrades.
* “‘It’s all about money,’ one Christian critic of Trump says about the support.” Dammit where’s my weekly pay check from the GOP??? Meanwhile Soros dark money floods everywhere. Willful blindness.
* “In a journalism career that has spanned 15 years, I have never struggled with an article so much as I have with this one, and it’s because I know my beliefs could hurt my family.” Yes I’m sure you stayed up all night tossing and turning over it 😉
* I didn’t read the Dr. David Jeremiah book, sorry.
* “Do you understand why someone could be called by their faith to vote against a party that separates families?” Oh, you mean that policy that the OBAMA administration put in place? 😉 The same left that for eight years made a big deal about “human trafficking” now suddenly thinks the problem doesn’t exist. Because THAT is a loving expression of your faith – leaving children at the border to be exposed to exploitation. Sounds oh so HOSPITABLE.
* “Alex, the Earth is going to be all burned up anyway” NO. IT. ISN’T. Good grief man, where did you go to Sunday School? Were you awake? 😉
* “All we can do is love them.” “No, we can cut back on carbon emissions. There are a lot of things we can do.” The U.S. is leading the WORLD in cutting back its carbon emissions! Under the Trump Administration the private sector in America has cut more carbon emissions than ANY, and I mean, ANY of the Paris Agreement nations, none of which have met their own emission cut targets.
* “I try to think of how to reframe the conversation.” There’s that Lakhoff again! 😉 I told you about this.
* “You cannot base national policy about what is happening to the environment on one group of people’s religion, I answer.” YES!!! THANK YOU!!! We don’t have to listen to the Leftists loony ECO-RELIGION ANY MORE!!! HOORAY!!! I’m so glad that Steve Mnuchin is running the U.S. Treasury and not Greta.
If this is the best the left can provide against Trump, we’re going to win easily in 2020 😂 😂 😂
