[They] are really desperate to shut down Q and the Anons.
Large attacks on 8kun + coordinated media hitjob on Q this past weekend. Something big must be coming down the pipeline in the near future (probably after the NH primary is over) for them to be this spooked.
The problem is that if there is active mitigation in place – which is to say, human intervention – they are at risk of expending their DDOS ammo and making the entire 8kun network more resilient and bulletproof in the process. The other thing is that the engineers involved in mitigating the attack are getting smarter and faster at responding and deploying the necessary countermeasures.
IMO the longer it goes on, in human clock and calendar time, the stronger 8kun becomes.
Something big must be coming down the pipeline in the near future….

IIRC, one of the long pauses between Q drops was due to 8kun being fortified against DDoS and other sorts of censorship. Even after it first came online, it went down again for further fortification.
Now, it seems to be under attack again. How is that possible? I thought Ron had the puter smarts, plus his team was equally smart. Yet all their efforts are unable to secure the website from successful attack.
What might we conclude from this? I don’t now about y’all but my conclusion is the attacks are coming from the same slimeballs who having been trying to take out DJT.
IOW, some intel agency inside the govt is using govt resources to attack 8kun. They are the only people who have access to state-of-the-art hacking tools and techniques.

Lots of possibilities, including some billionaires who are NOT governments.
DDOS activity is particularly hard to circumvent.
There are methods to do it, but most commercial grade anti-DDOS technology simply blocks the DDOS activity so that the underlying networks and infrastructure remain operational.
This causes havoc for small web sites, for instance. If a website is put under DDOS mitigation, it means that any adjacent servers/hosts/networks/IP/equipment is protected from the effects of the DDOS, but the site under mitigation remains offline.
For most sites, the recommended course of action is to simply ride out the attack.
This isn’t an option for sites that demand high availability, so commercial off-the-shelf DDOS solutions aren’t a good answer.
What you have to do is architect the entire web front end around the DDOS threat.
The most popular way of doing this is to use a huge content delivery network, or CDN. They have dozens/hundreds of servers worldwide that can all serve as front end connection points from web clients, that then forward connections on to the origin server.
The beauty of this method is that the CDN can offload a LOT of the nasty traffic and prevent it from reaching the origin website. It does the process of “scrubbing” so the server is only responding to legitimate (and hopefully well-formed) requests.
For example, one extremely popular CDN service is Cloudflare.
OH CRAP. Cloudflare! The people that basically run the entire internet, but not a household name like Google.
Yep, that’s right. Cloudflare dropped 8chan as a client – probably due to dirty behind the scenes dealings. Social engineering (criminal engineering) of Cloudflare by poltiical + nation-state actors.
That’s what necessitated 8chan’s redesign to 8kun, and the stacks and stacks of network gear loaded in the back of cars.
Basically, what they had to do was a MAJOR rearchitecture of the entire 8chan system to enable the entire system to have CDN capabilities.
They had to build their own CDN at dozens of POPs (points of presence) to get the network redundancy they needed.
To get the level of resilience they needed.
Even still, a dedicated threat actor can easily generate incredible DDOS loads that drive even the best sites offline.
Friends, this is cyberwarfare, plain and simple. The intent is to destroy a critical and highly effective strategic COINT point. This is exactly the same strategy an enemy might use to degrade operations of a C&C operations system during a military operation.
The reason the strategy is the same is that the motives and necessities behind the attack are the same.
Just like in real life, when the fighting is fiercest, expect the enemy to do everything possible to degrade operations.

Ron pretty much confirmed what you said in this tweet made on Sunday. Keep in mind the attack he’s referring to here was timed with the big NYT smear piece on Q, so whoever set up the attack was coordinating with the Mockingbirds. Must be a big player.
Back when Ron/CodeMonkey was working on the new site…he posted something as part of a test.
It was some long numbers, routing numbers or site numbers, something like that.
The Anons, eager for anything to delve into while waiting for the new site…started tweeting about those long numbers.
And I remember some of them saying that those numbers were “DOD numbers” or routing numbers for the DOD’s system.
I remember thinking at the time…”Cool. That must mean that Q has offered some sort of DOD protection for the new site.”

IP addresses don’t mean much. Kind of like how phone numbers don’t mean much – if you are a large enough or important enough organization you can get any particular phone number you need, in any area code. Heck you can even get custom numbers and dialing codes, like “311” in NYC.
IMO running a site like this I would be careful with the ARIN record and keep it sparse of information. Maintain the information required but avoid giving out intel on the organization’s identity or the operators.
A small IP subnet or single IP can be rerouted from whoever the ARIN record says owns it, just by assigning a different BGP route. Behind that IP address you can do whatever private routing scheme (“dark” routing, if you want to make it sound scary-like) that you like.
The only real constraint is the latency introduced by every hop and the geographical distance. Messages may travel at the speed of light but it takes NOTICABLE HUMAN TIME the longer the distances are.
If the IPs genuinely are ARIN assigned to a certain organization of interest, the only reason we would know that, frankly, is because someone wants us to know.

Would you happen to know a good way to introduce astronomy to kids? Beyond painting a solar system I want to teach(and relearn myself) stars, planets, et al, but a simple starter version.
Yikes, I’m not sure where I personally would start on such a thing. I could give you some resources aimed at adults but that’s only partial help to you.
I’d wait for the kid to ask a question about something specific, and take it from there, BUT I’d have to know something about it myself for that to work (which I do, but many don’t).
Mine needs to start recognizing planets and a few constellations. Maybe I can find a really simple book with a current star chart.
Add in the mythology. Orion the Hunter and such. The stories will help in memorizing the names.
Thats good. I was planning to start that soon. The couple stories I have are a bit too advanced in language for him to follow. I was just finishing a pretty good collection of Aesop with the morals at the end. He liked it but was starting to get a pinch bored. The dual mythos and constellation discovery will be neat.
Children’s section of library or large book store should have lots of materials. One of the best explanations of how the great pyramids were built came from a children’s books with excellent illustrations.

Actually, if you can get out from under city lights (or are out from under them to begin with) Orion and its surroundings are a gold mine. Betelgeuse, Rigel, Sirius, Procyon, Pollux, Castor, Capella and Aldebaran are all there, and the Pleiades is plainly visible too, at this time of year. If they have really sharp eyesight they may be able to tell that one of the stars in Orion’s sword is a bit fuzzy, that’s the Orion Nebula, where stars are being born as you read this.
I can’t give a tour like that anywhere else in the sky mind you.
Venus is also up in the western sky after sunset; it’s the really, really bright “star.” I had a teacher once who said you could miss Venus if you were wearing four paper bags over your head and were facing the wrong way.
You really do have to be beyond city lights on the horizon. Here, we have to go about halfway into Illinois to get COMPLETEly away from it. Out there on I-64, you can see the Milky Way on a clear night.

I have wanted, from time to time, find somebody with a telescope and go out past Carlyle. Our neighbors who had an expensive one sold it. 🙁
You’d have to be careful to pick the time of year, and, hopefully a time when at least a couple of the planets are up, unless you want to see lots of small nubulae and galaxies.
If you have access to a telescope there are a lot of nebulae to see in and near Sagittarius, which is not surprising given that’s the direction of the center of the galaxy. Of course the Milky Way itself is most interesting in that area, for the same reasons.
Lots of other galaxies visible in Virgo and Aquarius (the “Virgo Supercluster” of galaxies, which we’re on the outskirts of).
A lot of interesting things are too far south to be seen from our latitude, ever.
This week, when the clouds broke, there was a planet visible in the SSW sky, but without a telescope, I have no idea what it was. Big sucker, though.

Ahh, that would make sense as when we were in the neighbors’ driveway in the summer one year, we were looking at Jupiter.
Jupiter moves through about one constellation of the zodiac every year (12 year long orbit around the sun).
Someone told me a month or so ago that Jupiter and Saturn were going to get VERY close to each other (as seen from earth–not in actual fact!) later this year, potentially both in the same telescope field of view. I need to go check on that.

BTW, now that I think about it on that Windjammer, I was at the latitude where you can see both the Southern Cross and Polaris at the same time. Really kind of cool.
…AND time of year. You had to have been in the northern hemisphere (doubly true: since you were A) in the Caribbean and B) able to see Polaris); so anything fairly far south is only visible for limited amounts of time at limited times of the year.
When I was far, far south I was more excited to see Alpha Centauri than the Southern Cross, actually. Unfortunately I never got to see the Magellanic clouds (clouds, obstructions), but at least I got to set binoculars on Omega Centauri, the best globular cluster.
Holy smokes!!! On December 21, they will be six arc minutes apart.

Oh, I was in the Caribbean…one of a few times, and did see the Southern Cross. It was on its side at the time in March.
I’ve seen it too, from a lot further south. And, by the way, it’s not all that far away from Alpha and Beta Centauri, two prominent bright stars.
It doesn’t really look like a cross to me, though, because there’s no star where the two lines would cross. It looks like a kite shape.
The NORTHERN Cross in Cygnus, on the other hand, is beautifully laid out, and when in the western sky, even oriented right side up, but just disappeared from the evening sky.

Anyone who goes beyond a cell phone camera has access to a setting called “white balance” that will compensate for (most) different forms of lighting. If you’ve ever seen a photo with a blue cast or an orange cast, that’s incorrect white balance. (Though sometimes people deliberately do that for effect.) Our eyes/brains adjust for different temperature light, but our cameras do not, unless told to do so.

The questions to ask is:
1. Why would you bother to work or do your best if the people from the state take everything you make?

3. Doesn’t this sound a lot like the serfdom of the feudal ages dressed up in new clothes?

Not only has Aaron Zelinsky withdrawn from the Roger Stone case, but Jonathan Kravis has resigned as an Assistant United States Attorney entirely.

Little known fact: the original govt sentencing memo remains before the court. The second one does not replace it but supplements it. Judge Berman, a well-known Zero sycophant and Manafort solitary confinement judge (who detests DJT), can choose to sentence Stone to the original range.
I believe that this was designed to trap Berman into hammering Stone with a long prison sentence. Then when DJT pardons him, it’s not friendship but moral outrage that requires the pardon.

In 2018, “gun murders fell by 6.7 percent, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report. But murders committed specifically with rifles fell by an even greater 23.8 percent.”
What we need is a rising tide of gun ownership.
Then we’d see that tide of gun violence recede. DRAMATICALLY.
