Top Union Pacific official blasts far-left policies over ‘spiraling crisis’ of rail theft, threatens to leave Los Angeles
Adrian Guerrero, general director of public affairs, sent a letter to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gasc?n demanding his office stop the “spiraling crisis of organized and opportunistic criminal rail theft.”
Shockingly, Guerrero revealed that “over 90 containers are compromised per day.”
“Since December 2020, UP has experienced an over 160% increase in criminal rail theft in Los Angeles County. In several months during that period, the increase from the previous year surpassed 200%. In October 2021 alone, the increase was 356% over compared to October 2020,” Guerrero explained. “Not only do these dramatic increases represent retail product thefts – they include increased assaults and armed robberies of UP employees performing their duties moving trains.”
However, the actual crimes are not the only issue. Guerrero explained that far-left criminal justice policies have exacerbated the problem and emboldened criminals.Criminals are caught and arrested, turned over to local authorities for booking, arraigned before the local courts, charges are reduced to a misdemeanor or petty offense, and the criminal is released after paying a nominal fine.These individuals are generally caught and released back onto the streets in less than twenty-four hours. Even with all the arrests made, the no-cash bail policy and extended timeframe for suspects to appear in court is causing re-victimization to UP by these same criminals. In fact, criminals boast to our officers that charges will be pled down to simple trespassing – which bears no serious consequence. Without any judicial deterrence or consequence, it is no surprise that over the past year UP has witnessed the significant increase in criminal rail theft described above.
According to Guerrero, UPS and FedEx, which utilize Union Pacific’s rail services, are seeking to divert their business away from Los Angeles County — and Union Pacific may join them.
“Like our customers, UP is now contemplating serious changes to our operating plans to avoid Los Angeles County,” Guerrero wrote, adding that such a “drastic change” would significantly impact the national supply chain.
Guerrero went on to say that Union Pacific understands “the well-intended social justice goals” of Gasc?n, but demanded he “hold these criminals accountable.”
We’ll see if that does any good.

It used to be Pinkerton’s…..then they passed a specific anti-Pinkerton law and gave the responsibility to…..the FIB!!!
Mistake number one.
One and Two. The reason that there was an anti-Pinkerton law was because the Pinkertons were proving very effective at busting heads. Not realizing that some heads were meant for busting was mistake #1.

Train robberies noted, and I don’t happen to agree those “social justice” goals are laudable in any way. I don’t believe in coddling criminals, and all the plea bargaining has to be stopped somehow.
I think the people who gave a polite nod to the social justice stuff, and are now victimized by it, are actively rethinking their stances.

Doctors all over the country should be talking about this stuff. I’m sure many, many of them have thought the very things these doctors are talking about. And I’m sure some of them are scared to death about rocking the boat and maybe losing what they have. But how do you live with yourself?

I think the numbers of doctors and scientists are increasing enough, that these various boards, membership organizations, and licensing organizations can’t pull all their licenses or denounce them without losing credibility.
They are trained not to talk out of school. I know more cases where physicians and nurses will advocate FOR a specific doctor, but parse their words over others. They keep it all in the family.

Of course, my wife and I can pick up and leave if we had to…we would make it. Just trying to leave as little behind as possible is the trick.

Leave ONLY with Each Other, important documents, financial stuff, whatever clothes can be carried via commercial AC.
Do consider various travel modes AND notional itineraries if this fits.
Interim destination, while final destination sorted out.

#1 Im alive, alert but tired, and home. Was woken up at 3 am and had to get up at 4, so i took a little nap before i posted.
#2 It hurts. Like a lot.
Deep abdominal cramp and “down there” pain front to back. The gave me 800mg ibuprofen and norco to alternate for pain. Zofran for nausea.
It feels like the intubation tube may have scraped inside my throat as if theres a loose something that needs to slough off.
Surgeon said size of parts taken out was normal, so its wait for pathology to say if anything changed.
Definitely will be moving around but no way am I pushing it like getting over covid.

My Norco trick is to take in halves, take 1/2, then other 1/2 in 2hrs if I need, or stretch to 3-4hrs depending on pain level. Keeps me from getting that fuzzy/sleepy feeling all at once with a whole one and enables titrating more to the pain. Zofran should also make you sleepy. Take it easy and get lots of rest. DO NOT LIFT ANYTHING. 🤗😘🥰💖💖

I will say when I took Ying to the vet on Friday, it was the first time in fifteen years she actually walked from the parking lot to the front door, and inside despite shaking all the way out there. The first time we took her, she was about four months old, and she stopped on the threshold and wouldn’t move. Yang…one time he hid under me, but in the last three years, we were at the vet so often it didn’t phase him. I’m just glad he crossed the rainbow bridge before his final appointment.

I had a really funny vet-kitten situation. I took my little Siamese kitten to the vet for his first shots. It took two vets. One to hold him down and one to give the shots. When they let him up, instead of running and hiding, he stalked over to each vet and gave them a swipe with his claws.

Being in the Navy, is one thing, as JAG is something else. It sort of looks like DeSantis went into the Navy to get his degree paid for by the USA.
I dated a couple of chemists/chem engineers who got their PhDs that way. They then had to do a certain number of years as active duty.
Yup. Very common “selling point” for many to join the military. Paid for degree, with four to six years pay back.
Happens with lawyers, pilots, nuclear power, engineers, chemists, doctors…
All quite normal. Essential to staffing the military ranks.

Interesting, and what a perfect resume for a politician.
My trust meter is on high alert for everyone these days, and I’m not going to latch onto people and turn a blind eye when red flags get raised. That kind of blindness is what kept people from seeing who the Bushes and a lot of others really are, and it is what has kept progressives masquerading as conservatives in power. The only politician I trust to truly be working for America and not himself is Donald Trump.
The Left is chomping at the bit for a rift among Repubs, and it would not be a good thing. On the other hand, the truth has to be known, or we will never turn things around. If the truth is that DeSantis didn’t say any of those things and he is working to overturn 2020, then great. If he, like others, has said he would support Trump if Trump runs in 2024, then I’d like to see that. I will look at evidence. But IMO, to NOT pledge support to the man who just got cheated out of office — not to mention the man who has the most popular support of any candidate (possibly ever) — I think is to start a rift among Republicans. It would indicate that DeSantis doesn’t want the rightful winner of 2020 back in office. That doesn’t sit well with me.
