– Six counts of assorted kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape, assault, assault on a minor, destruction of personal property…all with a deadly weapon (gun).
– Amazing how many times witnesses couldn’t recall details. When showed pictures, evidence, etc., and wallah…witnesses magically recalled so many details. DA in this hick area did a masterful job proving facts and stringing them together.
– Guilty on all counts, with a deadly weapon.

I saw this yesterday, and while lying in the dark came up with a few leftover traumas from that time:
Cliques
Not being what popular people want you to be
Not being what parents want you to be
Trying to please parents, friends, and teachers all at the same time
Not being a super athlete
Not understanding that failure is how you learn
I could go on, but the rest of the story is not learning that self-sacrifice is necessary, and that tends to come from the steady practice of religion, which has been dropped like third period French in many parts of society.
Being two year old’s in teenage bodies and STILL expecting your parents to hand you everything you want and put no restrictions on you.
Too much time and not enough responsibility.
Religion. The best adjusted kids I have seen are from two parent religious homes.

With horses I put that halter on the baby when he is a few hours old. I run my hands all over his body, have a friend hold him steady while I pick up his feet. By 24 hours he has had his first lesson in leading. I am part of his world from the get go and I am his leader and ALPHA.
When he hits two years (Teenager) I toss him out with adult horses who are NOT mom and he gets socialized. While mares are generally careful of babies, all bets are off when they hit two and start getting pushy. At that point they get put in their place… the bottom of the hierarchy.
Foals and young horses have a special signal they use with adult horses. Even adult horses will sometimes use this submissive signal. They lower the head, turn it sideways and chew.

I have a 25 year old. He is always talking about how dependence on social media is destroying real interactions among his peers. He believes in phone calls (yay) not text messages.
I’m wondering if Voris’s point here about young people searching to make a difference and be part of manliness isn’t part of it. Not just going into priesthood or not, and politics, but looking for leadership that is lacking. Same with young ladies who are not interested in being feminists.

Well that is why that interaction might have helped Bloomberg. Notice he took the opportunity to riff about what he thought were common sense protections in gun control. It allowed him to sound reasonable. I thought it could turn out to be a net win for Bloomberg.
Now, he lied about it all. So it won’t survive scrutiny but for the casual voter he might have made a positive impression. Again, Bloomberg was not being honest about his goals but he doesn’t seem to value telling the truth.

This gives you the “Swiss Army Knife” of internet security for almost nothing. It can do so many things that “knowing what to do” is far more of an issue than actually doing it.
As a trivial example, you can set it up to observe (but not participate in) all WiFi traffic in its vicinity. Does your neighbor have a Nest thermostat? You can get its MAC address just by watching it transmit. How many wireless laptops do your neighbors use? Just listen. What brand of cellphone do your neighbors use? They all go “peep” regularly and let anyone know who is listening.

Actually, there are three middle classes in the U.S, levels 4-6 out of nine. To be general and overly simple about it, since the leveling involves a lot of details that aren’t always appreciated:
Level 4: Work with the hands tradesmen and women
Level 5: College degreed, white collar “grunt professionals”
Level 6: Professional degreed white collar professionals
As one person who comes out of level 7 put it to us, class is determined by education, money, and culture. Money doesn’t buy education or culture, and education will make money, but it depends on how much and what kind. Culture…there’s plenty of cultured people who don’t have money, but have nothing lifestyle wise or world view wise in common with tradesmen. There is NOTHING wrong with being in a trade. It’s just different.
And then there are those who live well beyond their means, and there are always those who live well below them, with no outside indication that there’s more there than meets the eye.
At any rate, this is the group that makes things happen. It’s also, regardless of the billionaire class, where the bulk of a nation’s wealth is, which is why it gets raided all the time.

The position to which Cuccinelli was appointed, as a matter of constitutional law, is that of a superior officer – and therefore the appointment to be lawful must — must — be approved by the Senate. Because the Senate did not approve the appointment, the judge (rightly) concludes, then the appointment is unlawful.
The judge rightly concludes that such agency actions are to be set aside as either void from the beginning or voidable by a judge. [p. 50-53]
But this is exactly the same argument that two law professors — Steven G. Calabresi and Gary Lawson — make in their law review article titled “Why Robert Mueller’s Appointment as Special Counsel was Unlawful.”
Lest we forget, Mueller, at the time of his appointment, had no position in government. The power he wielded was greater and wider in scope than, or at the very least as great as, any U.S. Attorney. (Indeed, the law professors describe the power of a Mueller-style special counsel as being “supercharged.” ) [p. 55] U.S. Attorneys are superior officers, and in order for their appointments to be lawful they need Senate approval. Which did not happen in Mueller’s case.
Similarly, the professors correctly point out, Mueller was not an inferior officer. They write,
Under the Appointments Clause, inferior officers can be appointed by department heads only if Congress so directs by statute — and so directs specifically enough to overcome a clear-statement presumption in favor of presidential appointment and senatorial confirmation. No such statute exists for the Special Counsel.

You’ll be hearing about March 15th over the next several days. It’s when FISA expires. 13 days.
Congress should not renew FISA authority under any circumstances without major changes first to protect Americans from abuse. Period.

My wife and I are bumping around trying to find a new church home. There was a lot of turnover on staff – we didn’t feel like there was any specific problem, but it felt like after ten years it was time to move on.
We visited a few other churches. A lot of our friends liked one in particular, so we went. And that Sunday was Men’s Retreat Weekend, and the former pastor, one of the elders of the church gave the sermon. And I was shocked at how racial justice it was. I posted on it over on the QTree daily thread.
Turns out they were promoting a conference – my wife recognized it as one that was also being promoted at ANOTHER local church . . .

Sunday night we had some of our old friends over. We got to talking and wouldn’t you know it, their church too is now diving into the racial justice bandwagon, courtesy of the new teaching pastor.
And the things they told me he said from the pulpit preaching about racism were genuinely offensive and I would not want repeated.
We had a very spirited discussion Sunday night. It was spirited because . . . what are we going to do about a church home for our families?
My wife dug into the conference more tonight and we found that it was organized by this group . . .

After thinking, “This is how the Church broke apart in the first place” with people being unhappy or disillusioned with the message they were hearing…and in this case it sounds as if the SJW message is a departure from whatever was taught before…why not put on pilgrim shoes until the right fit is found?
Technically, we Catholics are SUPPOSED to belong to our territorial parish. The Sacraments are the same all over the globe, as is the Lectionary, so every Sunday is the same theme where ever you go, but preaching, and parish life is not. As a result, a whole lot of people technically belong to one parish for parish life with their friends, but will attend Mass at another, especially if the Mass schedule accommodates life issues. My current parish has what we call the “last minute Mass” which is at 5 pm on Sunday evening, and regularly there are people there from a lot of neighboring parishes attending for whatever reason. The Cathedral has a five, and if you’re really desperate, there’s the Newman Center at one of the universities, or the College Church later in the evening. At my home parish, the two pastors previous to the current one sucked as speakers. I used to go elsewhere just for a decent homily. The current guy is alright, but he’s a little loosy goosy for me – and he was my advisor in high school. Plus, I’m in a different choir.
I guess I’m just wondering why it would be a big deal to shop around a bit. I mean, if questioned on why you don’t join congregation, you can always say I didn’t like what I heard. Are the pastors hired as they are in other branches of Christianity? I understand they are not assigned as ours are.
When I was young (10-13)…… My family moved to the Pacific Northwest.
There were zero Baptist churches in the area. We attended an “Evangelical Free Church” for a while as the only other churches were Catholic, 7th day Adventist or Lutheran. Turns out that the EFC was not quite right scripturally…. So my dad organised and started a new “Baptist” mission. So I guess we were “Missionaries” for a while 🙂
All that to say….. gather together with like minded friends and families and have your own “Home Church”?

razor, that’s right, Our church had 35 people who were unable to support the “waywardness” of their mutual church, and they began in a Storefront, those 35 people, to have their Sunday Services.
We are now ab 325 people and growing rapidly.
Attendance was a level 80-90 for many years, but there was no wavering. Suddenly, ab 10 yrs ago, our growth began. God is great!

What about a PCA church? The ones here are healthy, lively, child cherishing, pro-life, evangelical, conservative, reformed theology, Bible teaching-preaching and they would not tolerate stuff like that ‘wear the red’ business.

Michael – I cannot advise you on whether to STAND AND FIGHT or FLEE AND COMPETE – and sometimes the best course of action is BOTH. This is what I did with MAGA – I fled shallow state – joined up with people to help elect TRUMP, and then FOUGHT BACK.
First, let me state what I think is happening here. I’m going to be blunt about race, because this is all about race and racial guilt-mongering as a way to advance socialism. Nothing more. Dupey Christians need to wake the hell up. Thanks to my more interfaith (and other things) background, I can see this very, very clearly.
The atheistic communists know they are losing influence. They see that the MAGA movement is touching on something that they FEAR and will try to POISON – something which others have called “RACIAL AMITY”. The communists are going to try to piggyback on emergent racial amity in conservative America and pull it back to THEIR politically charged, human-controlling version, which ultimately creates SECULAR GUILT and OBLIGATIONS which they control.
Remember – conservatives in America are ALREADY more likely to marry inter-racially. It’s a startling FACT. And it is because of racial amity – people who care about character more than color.
The racial amity movement – however it appears – and it has appeared many times throughout America history – is the opposite approach to what the Democrats do, which is “guilt tripping” one group and “anger-stirring” the other. Note that the Democrat segregationists stirred up whites against blacks, and Democrat communists stirred up blacks against whites. They may come in saying that they want racial amity, but they are NOT really bringing that. They will sneak in the socialist division and control at the soonest opportunity.
In contrast, racial amity says “lay down your swords and just get along”. No blame – no blame-casting – no guilt. It makes no demands on who owes who – it makes no demands on intermarriage or not – in short – it makes no demands. It is pure good will and a failure to let race matter.
Different groups come around to racial amity in different ways. Not all these groups may be compatible with Baptist thinking, but studying them is very useful, because you will see the dangers they have faced.
– Unification Church (“Moonies”) actively encourages interracial marriage. It’s just doctrinal. They’re a weird bunch – more Mormon than Mormons, IMO, but they’re nice people. I won’t argue for their doctrines – just how they present. They are highly resistant to communist infiltration because of where they started, although they themselves are very communal like Mormons, and that says something right there.
– Baha’i Faith – has always been “religiously globalist” and practitioners of racial amity. However, I would say that the communist SJWs would love to infiltrate them and turn them left. Note that from the very beginning, the Baha’is were a “social justice” religion, but at the same time, they were VERY WARY of socialism from the beginning, and because they are so “God-centric”, they keep their distance. They believe GOD is the answer – and that social justice FAILS without God.
– Judaism – many American blacks converted to Judaism during the civil rights era, and this is no different from the long history of Judaism’s journey in the Middle East and north of Africa. There is a strong racial amity support base in Judaism, and always will be. Not just on the left – on the right, too.
I see socialism CONSTANTLY working to get into all of these religious groups to CONTROL their thinking, and I see no difference here, with conservative American Christianity in general, or Baptists in particular.
Thus, I think that within Baptists there needs to be a CHALLENGE to adhere to the principles of RACIAL AMITY and to reject ALL blame-casting as counterproductive and SOCIALIST. Likewise, to reject even the LANGUAGE of the SJWs, which is LOADED with guilt, blame-casting, and hidden secular anger. Challenge it and state that secular leftist language is damaging to the cause of racial amity.
Don’t bring in the dirty bathwater – bring in the baby. KEEP IT CHRISTIAN. Just like I would argue to any religion which wants to engage in a an internal racial amity movement. Use your own language – use your own concepts – use your own thinking, and this will keep the devil out.

The British civil service is at war with our Home Secretary, Priti Patel. One longstanding civil servant resigned last weekend. Another one, who barely worked with her in a previous post, blamed an overdose on her. Alleged ‘bullying’ in both cases.
Under normal circumstances, one would think that our Home Secretary would be defended because she is a woman and is a Hindu. (Her parents were immigrants, but she was born in England.)
Instead of denouncing sexism and racism on the part of civil servants, however, Labour have gone on the attack, pressing for Priti Patel’s resignation.
She is trying to get access to various ‘reviews’, e.g. grooming gangs, but civil servants won’t give them to her. Naturally, she is vexed. It is alleged she said ‘sh*t’ and ‘f**king useless’ in a couple of her conversations with them. They were traumatised.
Civil servants are supposed to be apolitical. I tell my friends that stopped in the late 1990s with Tony Blair. They’re all lefties now.
They are supposed to SERVE whatever minister they work for, regardless of political party. By extension, by serving that minister — e.g. the Home Secretary — they are serving the British people.
But, no. Priti Patel is seen as the baddie.
The woman is trying to drain the swamp and they will not let her.
So, we have our own swamp draining op in progress with the civil servants fighting back (media very much on their side, naturally). This is no different to what has been going on in the US with people like the Vindmans and Sondland trying to make policy, resenting when PDJT exercises his powers in the Executive.
Sad, but not unexpected, situation.

Britons are hoping that Boris stands by Priti. If he doesn’t, then, no minister (regardless of department) will escape the grip of civil servants.

My sister-in-law models for lingerie companies. Her photos are beautiful and I am proud of her, as is my entire extended family. We don’t consider her a slut.
And, the market for such apparel is in the $billions. I doubt that the women who purchase them think they are being slutty.

1. There was a technical problem with test kits they first sent out – but it was resolved.
2. During the Obama administration FDA took control of lab tests – so individual lab groups like Qwest and hospitals could not do testing on their own, they had to get approval from the FDA. Under the emergency act, labs and hospitals have been given permission to go ahead and test, then submit their procedures for approval. That will make millions of tests available right away.
Government oversight of a beach would assure a shortage of sand.
