And now for the obligatory message from our sponsors:

Here at the Q tree we believe in the concept of CIVIL open free speech and the discussion that fleshes out ideas. When commenting and participating in the OPEN discussion on this thread all comments MUST NOT CONTAIN personal threats, baiting, name calling, or other anti-social words fomenting hate, violence or destruction. Our host Wolfm00n has strict rules about that.

Fellow tree dweller, the late Wheatie, gave us some good reminders on the basics of civility in political discourse:

  1. No food fights.
  2. No running with scissors.
  3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone

Please, stock up on blanks for celebratory gunfire, be ready to swing from the chandeliers…and no messing with the nuclear weapons.

Please remember to remain locked and loaded and ready for trouble should the insurrectionists try to invade your space.

Those who have things to say that do not fit the generally accepted limits of “civil” discussion, Wolf has provided a venue known as the UTree. You’re welcome to visit over there and say hi to anyone hanging out over there. The “Rescue Thread” is also over there. In the event a rendezvous of the tree is needed, please check it out, as well as the newest rescue venue.

Auntie DePat’s requests:

Thank you so much for any and all attention to such details. It is GREATLY appreciated by more than one party here.

One other vital note:

Please, review these rules that our host Wolfm00n outlined toward the beginning of the growth of the tree itself. it won’t take long.

JOHN 6:35-40

35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. 36But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. 38For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; 39and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. 40For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Ahh, yes. The passage that gave Sr. Suzanne Toolin the text for the most easily lampooned (by the pros) song we use. Seriously, there’s no meter involved.

As always, prayers for the fight against that which seeks to enslave us are welcome.

Please include: President Donald Trump, the Q team, our soldiers in the field, special forces, tactical units, first responders and those working behind the scenes…and any and all people with family members in the hospital, COVID or not.

And…members of the QTree who no longer participate for one reason or another.

It is quite clear, as per Wolf’s message from July, that we are under spiritual attack. Building up a robust arsenal of prayer and discipline is a must in fighting the enemy and his minions.

In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.

Bringing a RAC post forward.

(Ukraine CF aside, which is discussed early in the interview.)

Israel / Iran wise…S U P E R B listen. >>> Sobering assessment. <<<Macgregor’s take is NOT the approved narrative. Including many here QTree.Pretty much mirrors what I have come to believe the past couple days. Some I had not really pondered, but should have.Iran delivered an advance warning. Delivered a solid measured response, using low tech weapons. Iran’s best weapons not deployed. Announced military operations would end, unless Israel (ignorantly) takes new military action against Iran.

According to couple of Intel Salva posts, the US is trying to convince Iran to accept a moderate attack from Israel so that Israel can save face… 😮

Iran does not seem too taken with the idea…
If Israel responds, Iran threatens ‘severe, extensive and painful’ response – IRANIANS ISSUE NEW THREAT Fernando de Castro Apr. 16, 2024 9:40 pm 833 Comments

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Iran doesn’t care whether Israel “saves face” or not.

That sort of rationale might work where “face” is a cultural imperative, so much so that people will allow their enemies to save face as part of a settlement or even a surrender.

As far as I know neither Arab/Muslim or Persian culture cares that much about it.

pgroup2

I am a little annoyed with using Persian as a synonym for islamist dictatorship located in Iran. Persia has a much longer and deeper history than the islamist terror govt has.

Bannon is most annoying in this regard and he can’t claim ignorance.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Point understood, but in this case I believe my usage is correct; I’m talking about their long-standing culture here…it doesn’t value “face” like they do in east Asia.

pgroup2

Gotcha.

kalbokalbs

Israel unfortunately is losing. Lost momentum pursuing Hamas. Withdrawing. Needed help stopping Iran, after Iran advertised they were going to launch an attack AND chose to not use their top of the line weapons. Learned a lot about Israeli defense set-up, capability.

Thank you, De Pat, for a lovely Wednesday post.

A couple X’s….

cthulhu

Here’s a longer-form video about model engines, just to waste pgroup’s time.

pgroup2

Twelve minutes is a bit less than three hours. So no waste of time. 😐

Valerie Curren

Is this Your club Cthulhu?

cthulhu

Yep, those are the guys. I dropped by that booth for a bit, but didn’t do a lot because I was just up for the day (and it wasn’t the day this was filmed).

Paul Denham, the club president, gets a bit of a speaking part. For his own engines, he basically CNC’s everything — so people give him a hard time about “oh, you whipped up another engine last week”. On the other hand, he frequently is called upon to refurb or spice-up other people’s engines because he is an expert on spark and ignition timing (and also microcontrollers).

There is a smaller, older guy in a plaid shirt lurking around in the booth. That would be Dwight Giles, who is completely amazing. He can make all sorts of materials into any shape, and have them sing and dance the macarena — he made a lot of the fancy wooden boxes that people mount their engines on, and can talk about which metals are brittle or sticky like he knew them when they were in diapers. He can give Paul’s CNC a run for its money because he can make a part by hand faster than someone can clamp the billet into the CNC and touch-off the sides. There is discussion of casting kits — Dwight has done castings of molten metal on his front driveway. At one point, he built his own airplane. One running gag in the club is, “first, I did it the way I thought it should go; then, I tried it the way all the experts seemed to think would work; finally, I just asked Dwight how to do it.”

Valerie Curren

Fascinating stuff. You are blessed AND a blessing to hang w/ such interesting & talented people. Thanks for sharing!

cthulhu

I think so. It’s a group that you can’t help but learn a lot from if you only show up and listen. Besides everything else, they take great joy and pride in what they do, are very generous, and can be extremely funny.

Valerie Curren

& very few wives in view Might just be a bonus!

cthulhu

The only two I saw in the video were Paul’s wife and Mike (publishes a magazine on the subject and expert on 3D printing) Rehmus’ wife. There may have been a couple more, but they didn’t get filmed.

It does seem true that making things, forcing materials to conform to your design, is primarily a male occupation.

Valerie Curren

forcing materials People to conform to your design” could be considered a female one, in certain quarters 😂

kalbokalbs

^^^ Commonly so. Persistent. (I’ll quit now.)

Valerie Curren

I was wondering if that was going to be an untouchable statement here 😉 😉

kalbokalbs

Wives left at home for a good reason.

Valerie Curren

No doubt! Some might even Prefer to stay home 🙂

 😘

cthulhu

It’s a small group. Here’s a Christmas party from a couple of years back…..and, yes, I’m in the video.

Valerie Curren

I kept looking for that “sundial” clue LOL no such luck 🙂

cthulhu

I watched the video before I posted it, just to make sure I had nothing too identifiable in it. Sadly, although it wasn’t that long ago, some of the members in the video are no longer with us.

Valerie Curren

I missed my edit above LOL

I kept looking for that “sundial” clue LOL no such luck 🙂

Looks like you guys need to figure out some hooks to draw in the younger guys so this won’t become a completely lost art/skill set.

I would guess my son Brandon, who worked as a hydraulics tech at that industrial electronics repair company before becoming a firefighter/EMT, would have some degree of the necessary aptitude. Taking things apart, cleaning up, & repairing many complicated machines has helped him have a pretty good working knowledge of a lot of mechanical stuff.

Being able to build functioning engines at home seems like a necessary “surviving & thriving” after the apocalypse skill set 😉

Valerie Curren

I’m sorry you’ve lost some of your irreplaceable compatriots 🙁 AND glad that you can maintain your anon(ymity) status 😉

Valerie Curren

I recall you mentioning an old timer who could tell just by touch the purity/type of metal, iirc. Was he in that group you showed?

cthulhu

That would be Dwight. In the front picture for the YouSchmoob video of the Xmas party, Larry is on the left and Dwight is on the right. He is also talking at 1:34 saying “race cars”.

Valerie Curren

TY What a wealth of knowledge & ingenuity (no pun intended) is represented by your club!

cthulhu

The US is full of associations of skilled people who freely share specialized knowledge, and this has been an American characteristic for some time — Alexis de Tocqueville commented on it in his 1835/1840 work, “Democracy in America”.

cthulhu

By contrast, the guilds in Europe tended to be more secretive. Sort of the “I’d tell you, but then I’d have to kill you” mindset.

Valerie Curren

Or perhaps you’d have to pay your dues (time, money, etc.) in some type of guild to have the “right” to certain knowledge…

Valerie Curren

 😍

cthulhu

It’s not just associations, either. I’d driven by http://www.batgundrilling.com/ a bunch of times just running around. One day, I decided to stop off and ask them what that was.

You have to understand, in my normal driving-around Santa Clara configuration, I don’t look like the handsome tentacled eminence you see in fantasy artwork……I look like a bum.

I don’t sound like a bum, and can ask intelligent questions on a wide variety of topics, but there is no initial reason to take me seriously.

But I dropped in and was given the tour, explanations, and allowed to examine examples of their work. I could have set up a competitive shop the next week — and they might still have told me “trade secrets” over dinner the week after. America is very weird that way.

Valerie Curren

America is very weird that way.”

Well maybe it’s just a bit of potentially friendly competition, like I Dare You to Do It Better! 😎

cthulhu

Pretty much, actually.

Valerie Curren

 😍

kalbokalbs

Cool stuff.

cthulhu

The Gifts of Knowledge, perhaps.

kalbokalbs

Very cool stuff. Is this the same video posted a few months back?

cthulhu

I didn’t think it’s a repeat, but I could be wrong.

Valerie Curren

I think I’ve seen it before but it’s been a while…

kalbokalbs

Either way, a great video.

Why are potential jurors not PROSECUTED for lying about their bias?

What could be a more fundamental miscarriage of justice, then to be a potential juror who has a hate-grudge against a defendant, and lies about it under oath during voir dire?

Why is that not a crime punishable by at least a year in prison, and a $100K fine?

It’s not like TPTB don’t know how use fear of punishment to compel compliance.

It’s the only thing they actually do.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Not saying it will actually happen, but I doubt they could have been prosecuted today even if someone wanted to do it.

pat frederick

i think this only allows the other potential jurors to scrub their social media accts and let someone even worse in

TheseTruths

Right. I also am not sure that this was a “huge win” for Trump, given headlines I’ve seen about the jurors already chosen.

I’ll be looking for the moment when VSGPOTUSDJT flies Michael Cohen’s brother in from Sicily and puts him in the audience while Pentangeli Cohen is supposed to testify.

Valerie Curren

What is the brother connection here? I must have missed that before…

cthulhu

In Godfather II, Frank Pentangeli (“Frankie Five Angels”) is going to go state’s evidence against the Corleone family. Michael flies Frank’s brother over from Sicily to watch his testimony. When Frank realizes that his family name would be mud in Sicily, he recants all his prior testimony.

Valerie Curren

Ah thank you. I haven’t seen the Godfather in decades so most of the plot points are quite murky, beside the horse’s head & the priest absolving the one brother for the murder of the other…

Tonawanda

That made me laugh!

Looks like maybe 500 alien invaders.

So there are what, 8+ million native New Yorkers in NYC?

This should be a very teachable moment.

I would be watching very closely to see how effective this 500-invader protest is.

If it works, if the alien invaders get what they want, then the people of NYC might consider calling for a 4-million native New Yorker protest.

See how city hall likes them apples.

Right Wing Media see traffic plummet…(From yesterday)

Apparently this site thinks that to be properly right wing, you must be anti-Israel.

cthulhu

Speaking of which, it’s probably a safe bet that nuking the centrifuges would really mess with your isotope separation…..but what would it do to your previously separated stockpiles?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Those previously separated stockpiles must not amount to much, since they’ve yet to build a bomb (at least we think they haven’t).

No tests. And I’m sure Israel would know if there were.

ON THE OTHER HAND, a U-235 bomb is so ridiculously simple to construct (once you have the separated isotopes, which is hard to do) we didn’t even bother testing one before using it on Hiroshima. Maybe Iran has them but never tested them.

cthulhu

Over at Sylvia’s, they talk about the pair of nuclear bombs that accidentally got dropped on North Carolina in 1961. The one that is still there would probably qualify as “used”.

https://bourbonstreet506745279.wordpress.com/2024/04/15/cold-war-nc-broken-arrow-part-1/

Valerie Curren

Anywhere near where you’re allegedly moving? Yikes!

cthulhu

Well, near as being in the same state, yes….

Again, the southeast has a geological story that drives human stories. There is the Atlantic Coastal Plain, which is flat-as-a-pancake and generally mud and can swallow damaged nuclear bombs; then there is the piedmont, at the foot of the mountains, where the hills rivers and streams provided water power to drive textile mills and furniture factories; and finally the mountains with mining and trade.

I’m looking to move to the piedmont.

Valerie Curren

Were you the one who expounded on this concept a while back about how typical transportation was driving the expansion into the interior of the country & how those demarcations of that geological story had a significant impact on when & where major population centers arose? It’s a fascinating thought process such that if the streamlined version could be found would potentially make a nice addition to certain family history tales, helping explain when, where, & why our ancestors chose to be in a specific place. For instance, some of my forebears travelled a day’s journey by oxcart from the town to set up their homestead, or so my dad said…& I speculate that they were there in Michigan, having come from NY sometime after the Erie Canal opened up, facilitating such travel…

cthulhu

Possibly. It’s not that complicated once you see it.

Every time you change transportation, you need warehouses and insurance agents, accountants and lawyers, shipping facilities and logistics managers. This has been true throughout history. So you get cities.

In the South, only certain places have deepwater ports — Charleston, SC; Norfolk, VA; and Wilmington, NC are examples. They all have cities.

You can paddle around the Atlantic Coastal Plain on rafts and barges — it’s very flat and the waters move slow.

When you get to the “Fall Line” where the Piedmont meets the Plain, you have waterfalls — even if the first one is five inches tall, a barge cannot cross it. So you have a row of cities where things are exchanged between barges and wagons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_Seaboard_Fall_Line

There is a more subtle line of cities where horse-drawn wagons switch cargoes with mule trains to traverse narrow mountain paths.

When railroads and interstates were built, the cities were already there — so, even when there are no barges or wagons, the effects of geography remain.

Valerie Curren

Yes, this is the line of thinking that I recall, so if you didn’t share it before you clearly understand & can articulate the concepts quite well. It’s a really good “big picture” view that I cannot always necessarily see for being lost in the weeds with a magnifying glass, a book, or a boy 😉 😉

kalbokalbs

~Twenty like incidents dropped / lost nukes on land and sea.

As the unexpected too commonly happens, the USG quit flying real nukes. (My understanding.)

Valerie Curren

cthulhu

When pirate movies talk about “pieces of eight”, they had a similar thing going on.

Valerie Curren

Easily divided into 8 parts…I hope?

cthulhu

Yup. even the coins you picture have guide marks at 1/8 points.

Valerie Curren

Yes but they don’t look like it’s as clean of a potential split as the 1/4 marks would yield. I guess “honest” scales would still be in order…

cthulhu

If you were buying something for 9-7/8 pieces of silver, you’d likely pay over 10 and get 1/8 back in change…..and if it were a “fat” 1/8 or a “skinny” 1/8, it wouldn’t be that much of a big deal.

Valerie Curren

“Me like fat one!” quoting the cannibal chick enamored with Curley on a 3 Stooges short 😉

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It’s still possible to buy slices of an 8 real coin. Or for that matter regular coins of the lower values (4 reales, 2 reales, 1 real, and even 1/2 real).

The 8 reales was the immediate predecessor to our dollar; we called them dollars in colonial times (the word descended from “thaler” a silver coin of the same size from central Europe) and that’s what people meant by “dollars” until we started minting them ourselves…with a standard based on an average 8 reales coin.

Our constitution explicitly mentions “dollars” in the Bill of Rights (7th amendment), which was passed and ratified before we had even written the basic law for United States coinage.

The Spanish milled dollar (as collectors call it today) was divisilbe into eight pieces, and it took decades before people in some parts of America (e.g. New York) actually thought in dimes instead of eighths.

And if you remember as a kid when stock prices were quoted in fractions of a dollar…the minimum increment was an eighth of a dollar.

Valerie Curren

& I thought “2 bits” was equal to a quarter. “Shave & a haircut…2 bits” is a ditty/rhythm learned as a child. So if that is correct then 8 bits would equal a dollar…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yeah the single real was often called a “bit”.

Valerie Curren

Oh real-ly 😉

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yes, Cuppa.

Valerie Curren

Hopefully he’s got thicker skin & is just busy IRL & will be back soon.

pgroup2

The problem is small but it’s still a problem: the lack of milling on two edges of each split piece.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Likely overpriced, AND four broken quarters probably won’t be worth as much as an intact coin.

If you go for this or similar things (there are chocolate-bar like bullion ingots too for sale), don’t break it apart until you have to, because the financial apocalypse has hit and dollars are toilet paper no one wants.

As for two edges being smooth after cracking one of these, that’s not a worry; people will be able to tell if the broken edge has been filed, versus left jagged and rough. There will be bevels and probably a ridge that will look like irregular sawteeth under a magnifier.

My son Brandon Finally got his actual firefighter badge yesterday (he earned it a while back but Detroit is well Detroit) after his First official house fire that day, thankfully an abandoned home. Hearing the sirens in the above video makes me think that even approaching that inferno would be Extremely Dangerous for Anyone…

Looks like a minor software glitch, probably nothing to worry about.

Shut it off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on and let the system reboot.

Should be just fine 👍😁

Will a false bird flu pandemic be the end of animal agriculture and usher in food rationing?

The overhyped threat of a human bird flu pandemic is a hoax to “reset” our food system argues Alexis Baden-Mayer. As we’ve mentioned in previous articles if bird flu were to suddenly become transmissible from person to person, we can suspect laboratory research and engineering of a virus as the culprit.

Valerie Curren
Thank you for this. It confirms what Yours Truly presented on the board here a week or so ago.
The goals, IMO, regarding this “new strain of bird flu that can jump to cattle and then to humans”, are:
One: Continued population control of humans (since the COVID-19 disaster didn’t “do the job”), PLUS control of poultry and cattle populations AND farmers, ranchers, etc.
Two: Eventual outlawing of ANY AND ALL ability / freedom for people to own and raise poultry, goats, etc., on their OWN PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Three: More “mandated vaccinations” for humans -p– this time, with “teeth” added in terms of “forced door-to-door vaccinations”, in terms of “isolation camps” for those who refuse to take the jabs, and prohibitions on people using alternative medicine to avoid getting this “new bird flu.”

Valerie Curren

YW PAVACA. Those are some very grim predictions but pretty clearly what the handwriting on the wall wants to be saying. God help us, literally!

i love log homes–we live in one.
what is the middle post for? it doesn’t support the roof (it doesn’t go up past the door frame). and it’s larger than the door framing on the right side of the door. and that dark spot coming from the bottom of the post is too short to be a shadow so what’s that?

Valerie Curren

I wonder if you’ve discovered an AI glitch, similar to how it has a hard time rendering fingers…hmmm

Is your log home w/ peeled logs or more rustically with bark intact? I love the look of log homes too & big stone fireplaces!

peeled which we have stained and treat every 5 years.

we built our own “stone fireplace” using fake cement stones–very real looking–but much simpler for us.

Photography for Photographers

So here’s this…… I have traveled past this property for decades and never really paid much attention to it. I knew what was there and never thought much about it until about a year ago when I noticed a lot of action on the property. Lots of graffiti and the beginnings of a demolition project. Still passing it by so many times and then one day I noticed a bunch of large American flags and a (well established) Patriot demolition company smashing the building into the dust, its all gone except for this beautiful and very striking tree, maybe now a tree of life. Lots of symbolism here and certainly a lot of controversy knowing that I am standing in the middle of what was a former abortion clinic for this picture.

Your metaverse identity will be central to daily life: WEF report (3/2024)

“Virtual voodoo dolls, autonomous avatars & digital doppelgangers will be your behavior-profiling passports in the metaverse: perspective

Your metaverse identity, with its digital ID, biometric data capture, and behavior profiling, will be central to your every day life, according to a World Economic Forum (WEF) report.

“Metaverse identity” is a relatively new concept that the WEF and Accenture describe in great detail in a new 48-page report entitled “Metaverse Identity: Defining the Self in a Blended Reality.”

According to the report:

“As people spend more time exploring, playing and socializing in digital experiences, a person’s metaverse identity will be central to their day-to-day life as well as to the way they express their personal identity.”

But what exactly do the unelected globalists mean by “metaverse identity?”

“A person’s metaverse identity will be central to their day-to-day life”
METAVERSE IDENTITY: DEFINING THE SELF IN A BLENDED REALITY, WEF, MARCH 2024
____
Metaverse identity encompasses three components:

Representation: including personal, social and role identity, be it through avatars, pseudonyms or other digital expressions

Data: capturing the intricate web of knowledge about individuals generated by metaverse supporting hardware and software
Identification (ID): be it through driver’s licenses, government-issued IDs, passports, birth certificates, attestations, labels, or usernames and passwords

According to the report, “Metaverse identity broadens ‘identity’ as it is known today and combines it with the digital underpinnings of the internet. It is a multi-layered construct of an individual or entity, including everything from representation to data and identification.”

With these three components, identity in the metaverse “connects and anchors a person to the physical and virtual world.”

rest of article & images

___
Let’s break them down, starting with representation.

“The notion of ‘representation’ is not just about pixels and graphics; it’s a reflection of societal values, inclusivity and the human desire for authenticity […] Representational design choices extend to the design of digital entities – from embodied virtual agents to non-embodied virtual assistants”
METAVERSE IDENTITY: DEFINING THE SELF IN A BLENDED REALITY, WEF, MARCH 2024

Representation has to do with how you present and express yourself in the metaverse, whether it’s a realistic likeness of yourself or an abstract, creative, or artistic version.

The authors say that, “These expressions may extend to include words, actions, behaviors and mannerisms,” so there is an element of behavior profiling going on in the representation category, which we will also see in the data capture and identification categories.

Representation in the metaverse will also take on a new meaning with the introduction of digital entities that act on your behalf.

According to the report, “Digital entities may represent humans, objects, systems or abstract concepts, and are capable of varying degrees of interaction, autonomy and behavior within digital experiences […] They are capable of mimicking human communication and may be used as sales assistants, corporate trainers, social media influencers and more.”

Like non-player characters (NPCs) in videogames, these digital doppelgangers attempt to mimic human behavior.

And like a virtual voodoo doll, if something goes wrong with your digital entity, it could spill over into your personal life in the real world.

“While digital entities can offer innovative interactions and functionalities within the metaverse, they may commit real-world harms,” the report cautions, adding, “The ability to manipulate or create misinformation through digital entities – such as chatbots and photoreal avatars – raises ethical and security concerns.”
____
Now let’s dig into the data category.

“Identity goes beyond ID, like a passport or driver’s license. Metaverse identity includes data points”
METAVERSE IDENTITY: DEFINING THE SELF IN A BLENDED REALITY, WEF, MARCH 2024

The data category of metaverse identity is aimed at gathering and analyzing data to make inferences about you, and it will be used to predict your behavior, thanks to AI and Machine Learning.

“Paired with artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) models that can analyze a person’s interactions, movements and preferences further generates identity,” the report reads.

“Whether these (inferred) data points are capturing a person’s current activities, predicting their next action or future preferences, these data-based breadcrumbs provide information into one’s identity.

“These attributes may influence the way the virtual environment responds to an individual, and outsiders perceive an individual or entity.”

This data aspect of metaverse identity is important to unelected globalists who are obsessed with manipulating human behavior and controlling what people think and do.

“There is a risk that governments could use aggregated inferred data for surveillance, monitoring dissidents, or suppressing certain groups without their active consent”
METAVERSE IDENTITY: DEFINING THE SELF IN A BLENDED REALITY, WEF, MARCH 2024
____
Inferred data, “now aided by AI/ML, can examine seemingly unrelated behaviors, actions and choices to draw meaningful conclusions about a person’s preferences, background and intentions,” according to the report.

Once you know intent, whether of an individual or an unelected globalist think tank, then it becomes a lot easier to predict what they’ll do or say next, even if they deceptively try to mask their true intentions.

And, “While this data is collected to enhance the person’s experience, it could also be analyzed to make inferences as to their real-world identity or preferences and used for targeted advertising or other purposes without their consent.”

Making inferences for “other purposes” without the user’s consent is what defense and intelligence agencies are after in the metaverse.

A recent RAND Corporation report suggests as much with respect to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) looking to spy on users in the metaverse, stating, https://gab.com/emoji/1f449-1f3fb.svg“As DHS grapples with emerging challenges by monitoring and analyzing users’ activity in metaverses, it should undertake legal and ethical reviews of what information is collected and how it is managed.”
_____
Now, we shall move on to the identification category.

“The concept of identity is contextual, flexible, complex and fluid […] Identity extends into the intricacies of an individual’s behaviors, actions and choices”
METAVERSE IDENTITY: DEFINING THE SELF IN A BLENDED REALITY, WEF, MARCH 2024

Perhaps the most confusing part of metaverse identity is the identification or ID aspect because digital ID and digital identity are terms that are often used interchangeably, including by yours truly, but they are quite different.

Identification is about identifying, verifying, and authenticating who someone is.

Identity on the other hand, “consists of layered aspects of cultural heritage, ethnicity, age, professional and social roles, hobbies, gender identification, sexual orientation and much more,” according to the report.

Now that we’ve taken care of the distinction between the two, your digital ID will be your passport to the metaverse, and like with a passport, there will be certain areas that you will not be able to access.

According to the report, “Similar to today’s traditional identification systems – like passports and driver’s licenses – IDs may evolve to include unique avatar designs, new body-based attestations or unique virtual signatures that validate one’s existence and grant access to specific realms or activities.”

To illustrate how digital ID plays into digital identity, the authors say, “Forms of ID – such as passports and government IDs – formalize an individual’s identity; additionally, these can serve as credentials or means of authenticating and verifying individuals across physical and digital spaces.”

“Metaverse identity is integral to future internet interactions”
Metaverse Identity: Defining the Self in a Blended Reality, WEF, March 2024
____
Now that we’ve gone through the three components that make up metaverse identity, what are some of the potential drawbacks?

For starters, the report says, “There is a risk that governments could use aggregated inferred data for surveillance, monitoring dissidents or suppressing certain groups without their active consent.”

Your metaverse identity can include your real-time biometrics, such as pupil dilation, heart rate, and brainwaves, so that companies and governments can infer how you are feeling and reacting to their goods, services, or policies.

Historian Yuval Noah Harari spoke of this same technology falling into the hands of dictators at the 2020 WEF Annual Meeting in Davos. There, he said:

“Just imagine North Korea in 20 years where everybody has to wear a biometric bracelet, which constantly monitors your blood pressure, your heart rate, your brain activity 24 hours a day.

“You listen to a speech on the radio by the ‘Great Leader,’ and they know what you actually feel — you can clap your hands and smile, but if you’re angry, they know you’ll be in the gulag tomorrow morning.”

Having a biometric data capturing device attached to your body that knows what you’ll do before you do it raises serious ethical questions about how the data is collected, where that data goes, and who has access to some of the most intimate details of your life.

For the past few years, Meta has been working on Project Aria, which combines augmented reality with artificial intelligence to create realistic 3D renderings of people, places, and things, including living spaces.

When Mark Zuckerberg explained his vision for the metaverse at Connect 2021, he highlighted how Project Aria could map a person’s apartment, including everything in it (see video below).

(1 hour, 17 min)

____
Imagine how valuable that information would be to companies — knowing which products you use, which ones they think you’ll want, and how you organize your living space, so they can manufacture extremely personalized ads.

What could insurance companies do with that data? How would landlords react?

Now, think about how governments, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement would love to get their hands on that type of data.

With the data collected from someone wearing a pair of AR glasses, who needs facial recognition, geolocation tracking, or contact tracing when governments and corporations can see what you see, hear what you hear, and know where you and what you are doing in real-time?”
