DEAR MAGA: Open Thread 20220324

This go around for a new Supreme Court justice is getting a lot of attention…and ridicule. After Tuesday’s “I can’t decide on who is a woman” from a woman, even Tucker got into it.

Just in case anyone missed this on yesterday’s daily.

More Tucker on this theme.

Most Congress Critters don’t have critical thinking skills like this.

This came up on the daily yesterday. Why not.

One of the obstacles to full understanding of just what the enemy is all about revolves around the concept of symbolism.

Once upon a time, when a liberal couple I know were really friendly before they found out I was a conservative – okay, we’re still friends – we went to see a college production of Shakespeare’s Othello. Shakespeare’s symbolism is a completely different topic, but one of the characters is a prostitute, and the girl playing her walked on stage in a bright red dress. Hence:

Red is an extreme color. It is a symbol of power, passionate love, passion, adventure, and energy; but can also symbolize anger, seduction, violence, and danger.

In this case, red is the color of passion, and that is utilized in many ways throughout western civilization.

And now for the business portion.

All opinions here are valued for the diversity they bring to the issues, and the shaping of understanding regarding topics for which many of us do not have all information. Correcting the record on any one topic is appreciated.

Be careful in expressing thoughts as we would all like to think well of the rest of the group, and ill-thought out comments have a way of wrecking that for everyone.

Fellow tree dweller Wheatie gave us some good reminders on the basics of civility in political discourse:

  1. No food fights
  2. No running with scissors
  3. If you bring snacks, be sure they are made with bacon

Auntie DePat’s requests as we are all supposedly adults and don’t just play them on TV like the body doubles pretending to be the squatter in chief:

If you see something has not been posted, do us all a favor, and post it. Please, do not complain that it has not been done yet.

Thank you so much for any and all attention to such details. It is GREATLY appreciated by more than one party here.

JEREMIAH 7:23-28

23But this command I gave them, `Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’ 24But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward. 25From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day; 26yet they did not listen to me, or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers. 27“So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you. 28And you shall say to them, `This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.

Oh, my, JP is so on with this one.

More good news.

Attorney General Knudsen Wins Nationwide Order To Halt Biden Immigration PolicyFollowing a lawsuit filed by Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, a federal judge has blocked parts of President Biden’s immigration policy that drastically tied the hands of immigration officers and coincided with a drastic decrease in the number of deportations.
The nationwide preliminary injunction issued yesterday requires the Department of Homeland Security to resume deporting dangerous convicted criminals and those whom federal immigration courts have already ordered removal from the United States.
“This is a great victory for the rule of law, border security, and public safety across the country. President Biden’s open border policies encourage illegal immigration and make it easier for the Mexican cartels to smuggle drugs into our country — drugs that eventually end up in Montana communities,” Attorney General Knudsen said. “I hope the Biden administration will abide by the court order and start following the law when it comes to deportations, particularly for illegal aliens who have prior criminal convictions.”
In federal fiscal year 2021, the number of deportations fell to only 59,011, a 68 percent decrease from the previous fiscal year, according to a report recently released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

I really do like this guy. He has been in on almost all the good lawsuits against Buy-Done and Co.

I feel the syntax of the sentence highlighted, particularly the underlined, very interesting…

…to say nothing of the statutes cited there.

Bringing this over from the previous page as well, for clarity:

I see what you’re saying, but impede is part of the infinitive verb “to impede,” so impeded wouldn’t work grammatically.

…engaged in, and continues to engage in, a coordinated effort to destroy the Plaintiff’s political career and impede his ability to effectively govern as President of the United States.

“effort to destroy…and (to) impede…”

It’s referring to the fact that they did impede his ability to govern as POTUS. It doesn’t preclude his continuing to serve now or to serve again, but this, by itself, is not evidence that they’re saying he continues to be POTUS.

Those damned infinitive verbs!

“Because you’d be in jail.”

It’s a nice start.

my sentiments exactly. 🙂

Now, if only Durham will come through.

Speaking of coming to conclusions soon…PDJT doesn’t settle lawsuits because it encourages more attacks from people. And of course he wouldn’t settle this one. But the wheels of justice do grind too slowly.

At the end of the style of the case 10 unknown people and 10 unknown entities are named. Those could cover some of the other culprits. Journalists and media corporations should be very nervous, IMO.

I saw 2 placeholders titled ABC1-10. This leaves room to add more defendants.

Hoping the R-Cons can ALL vote against Kenji. Along with Manchin and perhaps a couple more D-Rats.

JUST IN: McConnell Says He Will Vote Against Confirming Ketanji Brown Jackson to Supreme Court (VIDEO)

Get off my lawn!!

I have such a sense of satisfaction in knowing that a lot of people are consulting attorneys now, the media is laboring to come up with spin and strategy, and there is nothing any of them can do to stop this. Finally, we’re on offense in this war.

Will they lose sleep tonight? Will they talk amongst themselves? Enquiring minds want to know.

The end of the court filing requests a jury trial. There is not enough popcorn 🍿…

GWP: The turtle will vote no.

“I went into the Senate’s consideration of Judge Jackson’s nomination with an open mind,” McConnell said from the Senate floor. “But after studying the nominee’s record and watching her performance this week, I cannot and will not support Judge Jackson for a lifetime appointment to our highest Court.”

Motive? He must have a self-serving reason.

Someone who lines his pockets with Judas silver doesn’t like this judge nomination so ixnay on this urdtay … money 💰 talks … and this non-patriot slime-o listens
