I am not a night person but I get up early most days.

I can relate to what you write, singingsoul. For so much of my adult life I’ve had to be “on”, if you can understand…and now I truly cherish my quiet time. Truthfully, I’ve wondered how people can do it every single day…but I think it just becomes a way of life for them.
You sketch…I lose myself in the kitchen looking out on a beautiful garden area…or I read escapism fiction to decompress.
Although I have been very active and a leader for decades…I could easily become a hermit, too….and perhaps that comes from being raised in an isolated, rural area (many, many years before Internet, etc) and having to entertain myself. Wouldn’t trade that experience for anything!

Brian Cates is one of the most clear-thinking commentators out there today.
The fact that he gives us his opinions on Twitter rather than through an OpEd paywall tells me a lot about his character. He’s not in this for himself or to sell books, but for MAGA and to win.
Note also one other thing about Cates: He’s got an incredibly deep, even keel.
One day, one misstep, one bomb newsstory, one “bad week” doesn’t phase him. Where other commentators bobble back and forth like tiny rafts up and down on the waves, he cuts through the waves.
It reminds me of Wolf’s post about Trump gravity. At some point so many people were spun out and flung into the outer reaches of the Trump solar system b/c they couldn’t understand how he was moving.
Never mind that he was clearly strategically positioning every piece on the economic, military, domestic, and geo-political chessboard for maximum results, simultaneously.
No, to these people what mattered was that Trump wasn’t doing it their way. The B.S. naming of the “trust the plan crowd” just to discredit while drolling that “the wall isn’t getting built” and “Trump isn’t keeping his promises” by the professional never-Trump crowd and their paid shills of Coulter and others tells me what I really need to know: Some people are never happy, locked in their infantile views of Trump, or meanwhile making up their losses abandoning conservative principles with book sales on the back end.
The mercurial up-one day, down the next just based on a completely superficial reading skimming the surface of the choppy news waves totally misses that the Trump Naval Battle Group has completely decimated the enemies offensive at the Battle of Midway, and is strategically positioning for their next action.
It’s like someone questioning the orders to proceed west past Hawaii: “Why are they steaming deep into the ocean when we should be engaging the enemy? Oh no we’re doomed!” Meanwhile, Allies stage the Battle of Midway based on scarce intelligence data purchased at great human expense, so sensitive it must be protected as Nat Sec until it is de-classified after the war has been won.
OpSec. Admirals and Generals require operational secrecy in order to outmaneuver opponents. Armchair quarterbacks don’t see the big picture and have an inflated self image of what they know and what objectives need to be accomplished. Ideally, the commander will conceal his final objective so that the enemy does not know what has been conquered until far too late to take corrective action.
Our generals are winning the war. Daily news is just that: Daily novelties that include disinformation that only days and sometimes hours laters prove false. So much so that there’s almost an entire cottage industry around debunking bombshell news stories now. Who are you going to trust? A journalist who could get a job as a fiction writer, or a commander that has taken us into victory after victory, winning in ways that were completely inconceivable just two years ago?
I think you know where I stand on this.

When my husband is home the dogs want to go out 3:30-4 am. I made it clear I am not getting up.

My little Yorkie is 12 and has health issues. When I put him to bed at 8PM, I always sing him a song and tell him gently that he needs to sleep and I’ll see him in the morning.
He uses the piddle pad during the night if he wakes up and needs to go. Then he goes back to his bed. He’s up for the day between 6:30AM – 7AM.
Mind you, this routine didn’t come easy. Took me months but so far it’s working. I guess every situation is unique.

Too many times I’ve wasted 30+ minutes watching these things and been disappointed when their click-bait title is not backed up with facts and credible sources.

The translucency of the fruit is lovely and the grapes are almost on fire with the bright light effects.
Warm underpainting also contributes to sense of warm light and unifies the color theme of blue and orange.
Love how the shapes and deepest colors in the grapes are interestingly repeated on the right edge of the plate.
The width of the brush strokes becomes a repeated motif in the edges of the plate, cup, width of the silverware.
The composition is one of straight and round, diagonal and vertical contrast.

I think in the past people took care of people like that. I know when I grew up we were told to avoid this and that house or people. Some had taken care of the person and people shun them.
Today we embrace not we but some people embrace depravity.

But the word/philosophy/concept/reality made so much immediate sense (IMO), the use of the word “communist” has since exploded in response.
There was a psychological barrier to using the word, but the barrier was effortlessly destroyed here.
Communist are super aware (and quite brilliant) when it comes to what manipulates, but totally lacking in self-awareness.
They understand that normal human beings reject the idea of no classes: no economic classes, no sexual classes, no intellectual classes, no psychological classes, no moral classes, no nothing. They understand that normal human beings reject the idea that everyone is just “human,” and has a right to themselves without distinction. They get that part.
They just think that they are superior in understanding the concept of a classless society, and that their violence, intimidation, bullying, sadism, cruelty and mental terror will get others to finally see and accept their “superior” understanding.
What they do not get, what is their total lack of self-awareness, is that they are in it for the violence, the intimidation, the bullying, the sadism, the cruelty, the mental terror, and above all the sense that they constitute a separate class, a superior class, a class which sees what the masses do not see, a “superiority” which permits all the rest.
They see themselves as very big, when they are very small. You will never find a communist who has the profound humanity of a Catholic saint. Or of Jesus.

You’re right about that. I use a co.forter as a couch cover because boys and husbands are messy. What I notice in the announcement is that this is much more than a simple report release. There is a roll out, pointed language, Ivanka’s involvement which helps increase the profile of the event and they plan to follow up the release with a series of events highlighting work being done to combat human trafficking around the world and within the US.

There are many reasons why banning single-use plastic bags in Western nations is wrong. Let’s look at a few:
The multi-use bags that have replaced single-use plastic bags have been found to carry nasty bugs that can be fatal.
Washing fabric bags carries enormous costs.
Thicker plastic bags need to be used at least 11 times before the sought-after environmental improvements are realized, which is far longer than their typical lifespans.
Consumers are stripped of private choices, and are forced to buy bigger, heavier bags, which are less environmentally friendly, to do the work of single-use bags which are actually multi-use bags, because consumers use them to carry other items, line their trash cans at home, and pick up after pets.
Only about 1% of the plastic in the ocean comes directly from the U.S.
Less than 1% of visible litter, in other words just about zero, is made up of plastic bags.
Now let’s add another: A consumer would have to use an organic cotton shopping bag 20,000 times before it inflicts less environmental damage than a single-use plastic bag. So says the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food. To put that 20,000 figure in perspective, a bag would have to be put through nearly 55 years of daily use to reach an even tradeoff.

The only thing I have against single use plastic shopping bags is one of them blew out of a neighbor’s garbage can that was out in the street for garbage pickup one very windy day and ended up in the top branches of my 25′ tall street tree. It’s the kind of tree that has very then and numerous branches, so it cannot be climbed. This happened five years ago and the damned bag has stayed put through wind, rain, snow, summer heat and all other conditions.
There’s no way to get it down unless I rent an expensive man-lift and that ain’t gonna happen. It’s finally starting to decompose a bit, but still looks ugly up there. Every summer the leaves cover it up, but every fall when the leaves drop, there it is.
Other than that, I like plastic bags. They’re great for picking up dog droppings when walking the dogs.
I don’t know if it is permissible in your area but a 12 gauge shotgun may reduce the bag to less noticeable ribbons. When I was a kid that is how we harvested mistletoe during the Christmas season .

Since I live in a residential neighborhood within city limits with single family homes on the street, there’s no way I could get away with that other than maybe on New Years Eve. Even then the lead pellets would still come down who-knows-where? Not worth the risk of a very expensive citation and the wrath of my neighbors, especially if someone’s car was damaged.
Harvesting mistletoe….and here I thought they only did that in Oregon! The boys loved it because it was great target practice for hunting season…not sure they used shotguns, though.

I stand with Steve. The disposable plastic bag is a menace, and they have a tendency to move us out of the house.
We use the stackable reusables to the point that several that were years old had to be replaced in the last few weeks. They fold nicely and stack in a bigger bag and don’t clutter up the back end of the SUV. We use them for EVERYTHING. I even have one for Petsmart. The disposables get recycled into planks, I guess, via the grocery stores.
Yard waste goes in big lawn refuse bags that go to the city compost heap.
Dog dropping bags come in rolls that stack nicely in a drawer.
Trash has it’s own bags. (I just live there. If it was my choice we would use paper.)
To each their own.

I use plastic bags of all sizes for many things – lining trash cans, pulling weeds, picking up litter on the street and I recycle unused ones at the grocery store. I love plastic bags in the grocery store to keep meat from leaking on everything before I get it home. We also wash and reuse plastic straws, then recycle them. If plastic bags and other plastic items are disposed of and recycled properly, they are no more of a hazard and waste than any other material. Also use those non-woven fiber bags for most of my shopping – because they don’t slip, slide and spill stuff all over the minivan like plastic bags do.
Problem is – many countries and individuals – including many Americans don’t recycle or properly dispose of garbage, excrement and hazardous toxic chemicals. They are despoiling and polluting the world, the oceans, land and air with their reckless, selfish and careless practices.
Almost all of the plastic waste in the oceans come from 10 rivers.

One year my husband wanted to keep all the plastic bags. He put up a fuss if he saw plastic bags in the trash and it wasn’t for “green” reasons. More like, hoarding tendencies. Yeah. Anyway, I was going nuts with a lot of bags and I remembered seeing projects using a yarn made from plastic bags. So I looked it up, and it’s called plarn. I got rid of a whole lot of plastic bags making sturdy plarn bags that were used to tote groceries and other things, and made some shower bags for toiletries as well. People have even made hats and rugs out of plarn.
I put all my thrift shop donations in plastic bags (usually larger ones from stores, not grocery) and then they can turn around to use them for thrift store purchases.
My grandma used to weave hanging baskets and rugs out of bread bags. She would have had a field day with all these single use bags!
The reuseable bags in CA, when the supposed single use were first banned, were thicker and nicer. They had nice graphics and held together better. They actually printed on them washi g instructions. Can you imagine the kind of people who dress slovenly or dont care washing a plastic bag?
Anyway, the bags are not anywhere as nice as they first were. They now are more like heavy restaurant bags. Ive always used cloth bags and insulated bags, but I launder them regularly.
Now that we have to bring our own bags, most places wont bag for us anymore either. If they do, its a bit begrudgingly.
TBH, I would prefer to bag myself. I have to coach the kids doing it to not put glass jars on top of eggs, and all that. And then, they seem to think it’s a challenge to get everything in the biggest bag. No, I handed three bags over, I want the groceries spread out over the three.
At one point, I was putting groceries on the belt as I wanted them bagged, and whoever was bagging would make a friggin’ mess. One layer of heavy stuff in the bottom, chips and bread in the top.
Honestly, I’d rather do it myself.
I pur things on the belt too and they all still make a mess. Its 1 thing a store could do to go a long way to help busy moms.
When I was a kid we did not have plastic bags or any bags going shopping. We used nets they were practical. Some people used baskets. We used to go grocery shopping every two days that way you got fresh meats and fresh vegetables of the day.
I was shocked coming to the US seeing the waist of plastic use and all kind of paper products . You know how much money a person can save ?
I don’t have the sauce right now, will have to get and post later, but along the lines of the bag issue; just the production of an electric car creates a larger “carbon footprint” than the life time use of a SUV. The changes to the CAFE standards have killed more people in car accidents than in previous years when cars were big and heavy. This green agenda is a farce and has done more harm to the environment than all other measures put together.

I have never, ever wasted a single use plastic bag. Sometimes, raw meat will leak and they have to be thrown away. Yet, for the vast majority, we save them in and old English pajama armoire across from the bar. We even insulate the north wall of the cabana with plastic bags. We use them over and over again.
Daughn…several years ago, we had an outdoor dog house…created insulation in it using the styrofoam trays so much produce, meats, fish, chicken, etc are packaged in…just stapled it to the walls. Had to wash the trays very well otherwise the dogs smelled the contents and thought it was a special snack. I’ve known people use the styrofoam in places like root cellars, as well.

When my reader is open, I have used the left hand menus to check settings and log out and sign in also. I don’t know, It is probably one simple setting in either Brave or WP that I am missing to change or adjust. I don’t use the blogs in IE or Edge.

Yes. I’d like to know the mechanism of reparations if it were to happen. Would it be a law passed by Congress? If so, they KNOW it’s going nowhere. It probably wouldn’t even be brought up in the Senate, and would be vetoed without question.
So if it would go through the normal law-making process, the Dems are just wasting our time and dollars on something that will never happen, to gin up their base for elections to come. They are using us, both with this reparations hearing and the idiotic Mueller review hearing today.

Backing down on Moore was how they were going to kill Kavanaugh, once the Dems had that Senate seat. Remember – Democrat Jones voted NO on Kavanaugh. We had to fight back hard on that. Would have been better to have that seat.
I STILL BELIEVE that it is ONLY because we fought tooth and nail on Roy Moore, and did NOT back down, that we had the GUTS to win on Kavanuagh. #MeToo was all about that seat on SCOTUS.
However, if we would have gone with Luther, and held the seat with certainty, there might not have BEEN a Kavanaugh fight. Dems would not have been able to make it close.
I was very big in that forensic fight that took down Gloria Allred, but even the TRUTH of their FRAUD against Moore was not enough to win.
I know that from Trump’s position, knowing the actual evidence, he knew Kavanaugh was pure, and could be stood behind until he won. But the fact is, Trump has a real sense of battle, and he knows we will lose the seat with Moore, even though Moore is likewise a good man and innocent.

In this economy – with the business incentives and tax cuts – Boeing could very well make a comeback – if this is any indication Boeing has grown a backbone – then, I say all they need is some grit and leadership – our airplanes have been plagued with inferior foreign parts – these systems must be rebuilt and replaced – and Boeing must rely on American ingenuity to regain its place in the marketplace – if PT can turn the economy around – so can Boeing turn its fortunes around – I am certain PT has spoken with Boeing CEOs and read them the riot act – think positive – I say.

These tests have a significant legal impact when it comes to establishing child custody and support.

Paternity Blood Tests
Paternity blood tests were first performed in the middle half of the twentieth century, by comparing blood types of tested parties. This involved isolation of blood sera from antigen-challenged individuals that did not possess certain red blood cell antigens….
In the ABO blood typing system, humans can possess the A antigen (A blood type), the B antigen (B blood type), both the A and B antigen (AB blood type), or neither of these antigens (O blood type). Red blood cell antigen systems of this sort can be used for paternity blood testing because there are genes that code for the antigens and these are inherited genes.
A mother who has Type B blood and a father who has Type O blood could not have a child who has type AB blood. The true father of the child must have the gene for the A antigen. Using RBC antigen systems for paternity blood testing did not provide for a very powerful test because the frequencies of the genes that coded for the antigens are not very low.
In the 1970s a more powerful test was developed using white blood cell antigens or Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA), resulting in a test that was able to exclude about 95 percent of falsely accused fathers. Several milliliters of blood are required to perform the test.
Blood types alone cannot be used to determine who the father is, but they can be used to determine the biological possibility of fatherhood.
DNA Paternity Tests
….DNA paternity testing is the most accurate form of paternity testing possible. If DNA patterns between the child and the alleged father do not match on two or more DNA probes, then the alleged father can be totally ruled out. If the DNA patterns between mother, child, and the alleged father match on every DNA probe, the likelihood of paternity is 99.9 percent.
To conduct DNA testing, either a blood test known as Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) or a procedure called a Buccal scrap is used. A swab is rubbed vigorously against the inside of the subject’s cheek. This provides a DNA sample for testing. Children can be tested at any age. Paternity DNA testing can even be done on an umbilical cord blood specimen at birth. Since DNA is the same in every cell of the human body, the accuracy of testing performed on cheek cells utilizing the Buccal Swab is the same as an actual blood sample….

I can’t even get a landline anymore where I live. I did however switch over to a VoIP phone. Mostly I get calls from state GOP asking for $MONEY$.
I use DSL for internet because I had such a problem with cable. That requires a land line. (And, to tell you the truth, I hate cell phones).
The people who pay the bills in my house opted to cancel the landline rather than just changing the number. Robocalls were disturbing the peace.
