Wait for the Lord

No matter that it seems like we’re waiting on President Trump, or Sidney Powell or Lin Wood or AG Barr or the Federal and Supreme Courts . . . or whoever . . . we’re really waiting for God, the LORD, to show his power in righting the wrong that has become or Presidential election.

So far, I have a good deal of confidence in President Trump, a fair amount in Attorneys Powell and Wood, but less in AG Barr.

But, I must, we must, hold total confidence in God in this matter. We know God put President Trump and others in positions of authority for His purposes. We know God is omniscient and omnipotent and that His plan is perfect, ultimately working for the good of those who love Him.

Now, here’s the rub. We also know that God’s ways are not our ways and that we have no hope of understanding His specific plans for our future. We must, however, hold our faith in God and wait for Him . . . and pray.

We have no other choice.

Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.

If You, Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I do hope.
My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

Psalm 27

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Never Be Discouraged
There is really nothing we need to know
or even try to understand.
If we refuse to be discouraged
and trust God’s guiding hand.
So take heart and meet each minute
with faith in God’s great love,
Aware that every day of life
is controlled by God above…
And never dread tomorrow
or what the future brings,
Just pray for strength and courage
and trust God in all things.
And never grow discouraged
be patient and just wait
for “God never comes too early
and He never comes too late!”
Helen Steiner Rice

Patience
Most of the battles of life are won
By looking beyond the clouds to the sun
And having the patience to wait for the day
When the sun comes out and the clouds float away

fear gets the best of them…they panic…and, in their panic, they turn to whoever promises “order” .

it’s that mindset that I find very very worrisome.

I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. Thank you.

It’s usually difficult to absorb as fact the very reality of, with God, all things happen essentially in the present.
Not only are His ways different than ours, but His time is also quite different than ours.
While we are constrained by the shortness of our lives, events and circumstances which occur in our lives are necessarily viewed by a rather short-sighted perspective. But God is from Everlasting to Everlasting. When the Bible tells us to Wait upon the Lord, it seems to me that it’s imperative to realize we are waiting on a God who views time decidedly different than do we.

It has been useful to me to view God’s doings as an array of gears nestled into what I see as a drawer. Think of all the innards of an older watch: some small gears, some tall, some flat, some thick…all the gears contributing to the movement of clock hands. I like to think this, admittedly simplified, is the manner in which God views all the many activities in which He is involved, i.e. everything. All working towards a future we cannot see except in Scriptural terms.
The thing here is, He knows how all the gears fitly move and address the present; we do not. And if we further imagine a miniaturized version of this gear drawer, we may imagine how complex the goings on are in our individual lives. Our individual lives over which he watches.

So, waiting on the Lord becomes a matter of faith, faith that He controls all of the gears when we clearly do not…be they other people, untoward circumstances, planned or unplanned activity, and so forth….on a Global, National, Community, and personal level.
My Mother used to remind me not to get ahead of the Lord, else I was in danger of missing a blessing, and, you know, she was right.
We can proceed w our plans if we so choose, but I know very few people who believe God knows less ab what we require than do we.
Thank you carl for this wonderful post.

I had a realization tonight watching this clip:

https://twitter.com/JoanOfArc1920/status/1334365852108529667

What we are talking about here isn’t just some opposition.

This is really political persecution.

Actually we should just drop the word “political” and call it what it is: PERSECUTION.

to persecute: : to harass or punish in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict
specifically : to cause to suffer because of belief

We’te talking about people who will seek you out in job/workplace and get you fired, or prevent you from being rehired. Or engage in egregious cases of workplace bullying.

Or using the guild systems and professional networks against you, to shun and ostracize you.

Or destroying your reputation within the community.

Or within the community of faith – within a church, or an entire regional denominational structure, or with other area churches – destroying your reputation b/c of your political and moral stands. Even if you try to join another church they just follow you and make sure the word’s been put out on you.

Losing family. Losing friends. Ripping up relationships. Even turning your own kids or spouse against you.

Spiritual Warfare.
