One account emphasizes cybersecurity but I also get Dinesh D’Souza for some reason.

Another wholly separate account gets borderline pr0n posts.

MORE IMPORTANTLY:

Amplified Trans accounts with similar photo emphasis – men’s bodies attempting to perform feminine glamor poses

Both are a concern but each for their own reasons

AT LEAST IN PART I think Twatter’s Artificial Stupidity and Machine Lethergy Al Gore Rhythms are tuned to identify photo posts that are feminine and attractive. Based on your account profile, it may be boosting those twats to the inbox of male accounts.

Could be the algorithm is busted and boosting trannies too. Possible, but I don’t believe that’s the full story there. My gut says the trans are boosted by other algorithmic factors.

Boosting is NOT consistent. Some emails have the boosting while others do not.

The cybersec account is connected with a former coworker who is now trans. She/his (sic) posts are trans and are often boosted. Is it b/c trans or b/c connected or b/c high interaction? Can’t say exactly – but it is sad to watch.

Later is NOW – as in finally OFF my tiny batphone.  😉 

Seriously, I used to get extreme boosting of a Muslim chick who posted great “Muslim girl” wallpapers, which are very similar to the kind of wallpapers Christian girls like, but obviously no explicit representations of The Big Guy Prophet, and no crosses, but occasionally crescent moons. But they were nice, and I would drop likes on them.

Twitter went absolutely nuts, trying to “change my ways” by boosting her stuff on my timeline, until I actually had to unfollow her. It was like my timeline turned into hers.

I definitely think Twitter has modules that “build bridges”, and the damn things are sometimes algorithmically fragile.

Living up to his moral philosophical tradition of utilitarianism, with its “greatest good” principle, Australian philosopher Peter Singer’s latest instalment is The Most Good You Can Do.

The book — endorsed by software monopolists and corporate philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates — is based on Singer’s “Castle Lecture” at Yale University in 2013.

The book approaches “the most good” idea in four parts: effective altruism; how to do the most good; motivation and justification; and choosing causes and organisations. Singer, according to a New Yorker quote on the book’s cover, “may be the most controversial philosopher alive; he is certainly among the most influential.”

Singer’s argument follows a three-fold logic: capitalism remains with us for the time being; it creates social, economic, and moral pathologies such as extreme poverty; and as a consequence, we have a moral duty to alleviate the worst impact of capitalism (a word that barely appears in the book) by doing — individually — the most good we can do.

For supporters of utilitarianism, there is a moral duty to donate whatever we can to charities that work for the poor. But Singer also discusses what makes a good charity — for instance, Oxfam. In this sense, his book is quite often political rather than moral in its philosophical character.

The Singer quote is from 89 years ago. They have been working steadily on this since before then. I think in the first decades they focused on moral depravity and abortion and tearing down the family, and having sewn those seeds, now they are out in the open with advocacy of actual murder.

Not sure if this is what spurred the this convo as I don’t recall having seen the story posted but just yesterday, every democrat in the House of Representatives voted for infanticide. Everyone but Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas voted to kill babies outside of the womb.

This debate would depend significantly on how the subject, conscience, is defined. If conscience is meant to mean “moral compass” then its use as a guide to right living would vary significantly by culture, experience, and social factors. In that way it would not be a reliable measure to predict “normal” behavior across a sample population. I have not read the article so I can accept correction but that is just my perspective from a purely mental exercise. Metaphysical debates are prone to the debaters talking right past one another and the conclusions drawn may be due to wrong assumptions about the argument.

Could this “compass” be a matter of training?

If one is trained in youth to listen for God’s voice as one’s conscience, then later, as an adult, religious or not, could they still be hearing God over their own internal voice?

I follow “my conscience” quite a bit, while completely understanding that I am listening to God, not myself.

But if a child has no exposure to religion and the teaching of Judeo-Christian ethics, then they are learning to listen to their internal compass, which is fallible.

I’m just spit-balling. I’m sure everyone has strong opinions about this.

I think a ‘conscience’ is a Judeo-Christian cultural construct. It is ‘created’ by repetition of God’s rules, in word and deed, day after day. Proverbs 22:6

If it was innate, there would be no need to ‘train’ your kids. If it was already there and one was merely re-directing it, surely Scripture would have described such an entity and warned of the consequences connected with ignoring it.

Very much agreed. It is not in our nature to be as good as Jewish law and then Christ teach us that we can and should be.

Load the operating system, and maintain it, or you’re just the smart animal BIOS.

The idea that “God sees all” is roughly equivalent to the idea that what we do when nobody is looking matters, which is roughly equivalent to the idea of rule of law. OT in a nutshell.

Beyond this, and more generally, the idea that “you need Jesus, and you can’t do it yourself” is recognition of the Christian idea that beyond the law, we can and should adopt a “lifestyle of truth, love, and love of truth” – basically, welcoming in the teachings of Christ and the Holy Spirit – and trusting that the self-consistency of that life will answer questions not specified already. That, IMO, is key to understanding Peter and Paul and the ongoing nature of the Body of Christ / Church.

But that also sheds light on why the individual or group internal compass, not rooted in Christ and Christ’s teachings, is fallible. There is no guarantee that a group compass is infallible, and in any case, such a compass is likely unprovable as infallible. In believing in Christ, we assert that there can exist such a compass, that there is such a compass, and that it is demonstrated in Christ.

Hope that makes some sense. Long way of saying Aubergine is right that the internal compass can be wrong, and you’re right in pinning the working one – an actual functioning and non-contradictory conscience – on Judaeo-Christian ethics.

Whatever. My comment was specifically in the context of Stalin and control of elections (“you can’t vote your way out of communism”), but I will admit that fascists and others do the same thing. Cheating is a thing for all manners of nasty groups and types.

And yeah, at the top is bankers, but nobody has seemed to take the fight directly to them, oddly. As I like to say, the winner of the first two world wars was….. SWITZERLAND.

As for classifications…..

I see fascism and communism as almost the same thing in reality.

Why?

Fascism take existing corporations and government and merges them toward each other, so that the corporations become monopolies that take direct orders from the state.

Communism (as practiced in the Soviet Union) nationalizes the same corporations and industries FIRST, and then sets up monopolies controlled by the state.

You end up in the same place, IMO.

Chinese Communism took the Soviet model and deregulated it back toward a more pre-fascist structure, but maintains strict and classic communist control. They seem to think of themselves as communists, but they’re certainly more like fascists (“ChiNazis”) by many measures.

What we have in the US resembles the occasional early alliance of the Nazis and communists in pre-Hitler Germany.

I call the more communist side the Bidenistas, and the more fascist side the Bidenazis, but together they succeeded in getting rid of Trump, and maintaining a joint authoritarian government.

So if people want to quibble, I just say “Yeah, true” and keep believing what I know to be true. Which is a complicated business!  😉

The shirt could have been slit up the back and put on from the front, because of the way the shirt is “wrinkled”. I can’t imagine that the hospital would allow him to wear that shirt as wrinkled as it is against his back. Sheets and clothing must be extremely smooth to keep from causing creases on the skin. I agree it is a photo op.

It appears that the only piece of medical equipment attached to him is oxygen and that is easy to remove for a short time so the shirt could go over his head. The shirt probably appears “wrinkled” not because it is wrinkled but rather it is not completely pulled down in the back. Probably only had it on for a short moment. Agree—photo-op.

The final slide in his 4-pic post shows a quote doctors told him when he was finally awake and talking on his own. It’s the “you won” line, which resonated with him.

My thoughts on Hamlin have been consistent throughout. I said yesterday that the jab was the real conspiracy. There are multiple layers of theories that require multi-dimensional thinking, and some of them I reject outright. That doesn’t mean I don’t think info about the vax is being covered up.

There is a theory that people in that photo are imposters. I reject that out of hand. Other theories have been presented that I don’t think are probable as well. That doesn’t mean the NFL isn’t trying to cover its tracks.

I don’t think that every unexplained detail is a reason for these kinds of theories:
— that the photo in the hospital isn’t real
— that Hamlin isn’t really recovering and they’re covering that up
— that our not seeing Hamlin leave the hospital is reason for suspicion
— and more.

I also don’t see what the benefit would be in covering up a theoretical death or brain injury. It could be attributed to a chest blow and that would be the end of it. But with Hamlin recovering, it’s, “See, it wasn’t so bad. All is well.”

Whether Hamlin and/or his family are cooperating in a coverup is another matter that I’ll not get into here.

It goes without saying that these are my opinions about ideas, not personal statements about anyone.

I went in to get labs done today, and only now is the Xanax wearing off.

The phlebotomist was a repeat. Last time, she mentioned that she isn’t comfortable having blood drawn from her own arm, and I suggested the Xanax method. She took my recommendation, but said that it goofed up her ability to get to sleep that night, but might try it again at a different time of day.

I managed to stammer through a conversation about the weather while she was doing the draw, which is stunningly different from my usual behavior.

After I got home, however, I had a tendency to zone out while alternately feeling cold and warm for several hours.

Boy did he get that wrong. Those regulations were NEVER about ‘Safety’ they were ALWAYS ABOUT CONTROL.

Those regulations were meant to convince people the government HAD THE RIGHT TO DICTATE HOW WE LIVE OUR LIVES. They were conditioning us to accept Lock Downs, the deprivation of our right to worship in the church of our choice and to accept a MANDATING ALL MUST TAKE AN EXPERIMENTAL DRUG to be ‘SAFE’.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Clearly, despite generally rising temperatures and “more energy in the system”, the variations in rainfall in Sacramento have been getting less extreme, not more extreme … go figure.

Look at that graph and then look at this especially the 1930s when the USA had high temps and major drought. Also over that time period the temperature WAS NOT RISING! This is the boundaries for PLANTS AND PLANTS DO NOT LIE! You can’t grow oranges in North Carolina. Actually you can no longer grow oranges in northern Florida where once there were orchards.

Overview

The sun continues to be very quiet and it has been without sunspots this year 62% of the time as we approach what is likely to be one of the deepest solar minimums in a long, long time. In fact, all indications are that the upcoming solar minimum may be even quieter than the last one which was the deepest in nearly a century.  In addition, there are now forecasts that the next solar cycle, #25, will be the weakest in more than 200 years.  The current solar cycle, #24, has been the weakest with the fewest sunspots since solar cycle 14 peaked in February 1906. Solar cycle 24 continues a recent trend of weakening solar cycles which began with solar cycle 21 that peaked around 1980 and if the latest forecasts are correct, that trend will continue for at least another decade or so..

Although TSI (Total Solar Insolation) may not vary much the composition of the TSI does vary especially in the UV and EUV wavelengths and that effect ozone formation/destruction and the “puffyness’ of the atmosphere.

…Greg Kopp of the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado, pointed out that while the variations in luminosity over the 11-year solar cycle amount to only a tenth of a percent of the sun’s total output, such a small fraction is still important. “Even typical short term variations of 0.1% in incident irradiance exceed all other energy sources (such as natural radioactivity in Earth’s core) combined,” he says. 

Of particular importance is the sun’s extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation, which peaks during the years around solar maximum. Within the relatively narrow band of EUV wavelengths, the sun’s output varies not by a minuscule 0.1%, but by whopping factors of 10 or more. This can strongly affect the chemistry and thermal structure of the upper atmosphere. 

Several researchers discussed how changes in the upper atmosphere can trickle down to Earth’s surface. There are many “top-down” pathways for the sun’s influence. For instance, Charles Jackman of the Goddard Space Flight Center described how nitrogen oxides (NOx) created by solar energetic particles and cosmic rays in the stratosphere could reduce ozone levels by a few percent. Because ozone absorbs UV radiation, less ozone means that more UV rays from the sun would reach Earth’s surface. 

 Isaac Held of NOAA took this one step further. He described how loss of ozone in the stratosphere could alter the dynamics of the atmosphere below it. “The cooling of the polar stratosphere associated with loss of ozone increases the horizontal temperature gradient near the tropopause,” he explains. “This alters the flux of angular momentum by mid-latitude eddies. [Angular momentum is important because] the angular momentum budget of the troposphere controls the surface westerlies.” In other words, solar activity felt in the upper atmosphere can, through a complicated series of influences, push surface storm tracks off course….. 

That is the short term variation in energy from the sun.

The extra energy elevated early Holocene summer temperatures throughout the Arctic 1-3° C above 20th century averages, enough to completely melt many small glaciers throughout the Arctic, although the Greenland Ice Sheet was only slightly smaller than at present… As summer solar energy decreased in the second half of the Holocene, glaciers reestablished or advanced, sea ice expanded, and the flow of warm Atlantic water into the Arctic Ocean diminished. Late Holocene cooling reached its nadir during the Little Ice Age (about 1250-1850 AD), when sun-blocking volcanic eruptions and perhaps other causes added to the orbital cooling, allowing most Arctic glaciers to reach their maximum Holocene extent…

That’s the original choral version of the hymn – we always used this version for congregational singing. We were fortunate to have a decent flute player in the choir (sub for oboe) and my niece was a horn major. So the price was right. 😄 Thanks for the reply, this hymn is dear to me.
