DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20240209

Attitude Adjustment

Ingredients

Makes 1

½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)

¼ oz. Green Chartreuse

¾ oz. lime juice

1½ oz. Matusalem Clasico Rum

Miller High Life to bottom (and as a side sipper)

Lime wheel, to garnish

  1. Step 1Build in the shaker tin—first the simple syrup, then the lime, Chartreuse, and rum. Taste. Miller High Life is deceptively sweet, so before the cocktail gets strained into your glass, it needs to be on the dry side.
  2. Step 2Grab your Collins glass and add 4 ice cubes, then bottom with some of the beer; set aside. Add 3 ice cubes to the shaking tin and Collins shake. Taste again. Does it feel a little too hot and boozy right now? That’s okay! It’s going to mingle with the beer, which will stretch out the dilution. Strain into the prepared Collins glass. We serve the beer remaining in the pony bottle alongside the cocktail. Garnish with the lime wheel.

9There shall be no strange god among you; you shall not bow down to a foreign god. 10I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. 11“But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would have none of me. 12So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels. 13O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! 14I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their foes.

cthulhu

Thank you, De Pat, for another week of superb content.

cthulhu

Oh, and a quick visit to The Huntington….

This first video purports to show the Rose Garden, Herb Garden, and Japanese Garden. Oddly, you only catch a glimpse of the Japanese Garden (the brown building way off behind the wisteria is the tea pavilion)…..but spend considerable time in the Chinese Garden (which is comparatively new). You catch a bit of a glimpse of the Shakespeare Garden (plants mentioned in Shakespeare) with the pomegranate.

This second video shows off some of the Desert Garden — at one time, the world’s largest.

You catch glimpses of the adjacent Palm Garden from the Desert Garden, and then there is the Bamboo Garden behind that, then the Jungle Garden (which shows up in a lot of TV and movies). Beyond the “normal” Japanese Garden, there is a raked-gravel Zen Garden and bonsai collection. In addition to these, there is a Camellia Garden, an Australian Garden, and a Conservatory.

cthulhu

I hope to meet you there one day and have you show me around.

GA/FL

Another garden you might want to feature sometime, Coothie, is Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. “It was founded by Archer Milton Huntington, stepson of railroad magnate Collis Potter Huntington, and Anna Hyatt Huntington, his wife, to feature sculptures by Anna and her sister Harriet Randolph Hyatt Mayor, along with other American sculptors.” – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookgreen_Gardens

I’m listening to the Putin interview and I can say that he is so far above the level of our leaders that it makes me want to cry. Only DJT has what it takes to deal with him.

smiley2

but does he ever actually answer a question.

he’s definitely mentally fit, no doubt about it.

and polite, poised, engaging…informative…like a history professor.

but he’s KGB.

cageyboy

GA/FL

My feelings exactly – and I haven’t watched it yet.

I’m reticent to do so until I can really concentrate and discern what is propaganda and what is truth.

Right now, I’m overloaded because Sally Q being immediately post surgery.

Valerie Curren

Hope you & Sally will be doing well & getting some much needed rest soon.

WSB

Slick.

smiley2

very.

the word wily also comes to mind.

rather enigmatic, that sly Putin smirk.

Putin’s nobody’s fool.

and he’s loyal….to Russia.

maybe that’s why PDJT admires him…and maybe Putin admires Trump for the very same reasons.

in a world of lies deception and compromised fools on parade, loyalty is scarce.

Putin knows full well why Tucker is there.

WSB

Not certain why Tucker is there yet pretty much certain why PDT and Putin got together. IMHO.

Charlie

Catch the tid bit of Tucker’s CI.a connection?

kalbokalbs

AND…?

Charlie

Interesting in today’s climate. Is TC who we want him to be?
TC’s facial expression had an element of surprise.

Last edited 2 months ago by Charlie
Gail Combs

Yes, however Tucker (supposedly) did not join the CIA.

kalbokalbs

Uh, yea… Wonder if CIA contacted Tucker before he went to Russia. Or DoS…

  • I think so. My comment to Smiley, slightly up. (I think.)
WSB

TC’s father has a wild bio. Have posted before. Even Wikipoo cannot hide it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Carlson

smiley2

I took it as Putin trolling him (cryptic remark ?) or trying to be cute, actually referring to USA when he said “you” to Tucker…

I’m not enjoying Tucker’s clueless expressions, BTW…he comes off as confused, bewildered.

not a good look.

kalbokalbs

Yea.

All too often, I felt Tucker appeared lost, confused, frustrated, even an occasional smart ass smirk.

The interview had no time limits, that we know of. So, Putin can engage with long answers if he wished to do so. Americans, at least this one, benefited from Putins long answers AND how he answers with facts. The listener is required to, listen. Connect dots.

  • Tucker ended the interview.

The interviewee has the prerogative to answer as he pleases. Not required to answer, as Americans are accustomed.

Tucker never expected the history lesson, nor answers, that required listening AND comprehension ,of what was stated.

Putin numerous times restated what he’d said. Which DID answer questions, over and over.

I thought it Cheap, when Tucker asked Putin to release some goof. Then Tucker doubled down. Tripled down. Putin was clear, with each answer. NO. The charges are serious. Deception was involved.

  • ^^^ Smacks of CIA or USG putting Tucker up to this nonsense.
Robert Baker

I agree I thought that last question attempting to instigate some prisoner exchange was an odd ending to an otherwise good interview. Tucker may have wanted a little more credit for his bravery than was strictly needed. Tucker was a little self indulgent at that point. It is very difficult to stay humble when you are on top of your world. He will have to continue to work on that.

Gail Combs

It may have been strategic. By getting into prisoner exchange he looks less like a Putin puppet.

pgroup2

Totally agree that it was highly inappropriate to ask Putin about the prisoner. But doubling down was insulting to Putin but VP maintained his cool and simply restated the official Russian position.

For a short time period, Tucker seemed to forget he was in Russia not America.

kalbokalbs

The answers are there.

Putin didn’t play gotcha games, the West favors.

smiley2

way too pedantic, imo.

we don’t need to be lectured to.

we were expecting all sorts of truth bombs with this interview and, frankly, it was more like Putin was interviewing Tucker and, while endlessly talking about Russian history, evading a few questions.

kalbokalbs

Never-the-less, questions were answered.

—–

The US, AND West need to understand why Russia Special Military Operation is happening in Ukraine.

  • My guesstimate is history IS the foundation.
  • Recent piss poor actions by the US, the West over the past thirty or forty years, have pushed Russia into Action.
  • The history lesson was mostly new to me. AND, appreciated.
  • Much of the past thirty or forty years, has been posted numerous times QTree.
  • BUT, Most of America WAS clueless. May STILL be clueless. Minsk I. Minsk II… Coup in Ukraine. Nuland… CIA…

Is there a corollary of sorts in America? (Rhetorical.)

pgroup2

Ben Hardwell [from warroom] calls Nuland the Angel of Death.

Gail Combs

She is, where she goes a Color Revolution follows.

Robert Baker

I don’t see it as pedantic at all. Putin knew he was talking to an American audience who had no historical context at all for the Ukraine-Russia conflict. I will make two observations: 1) Putin was trying to be diplomatic and, at the same time, seriously address the questions. Such answers require context for an audience that does not pay attention to international relations. 2) The fact that Putin would pause after questions to organize his answers indicated that he was thoughtful but also indicated that he did not know the questions before hand as is common in some town hall events with American politicians. That told me the guy has a sharp and logical mind.

pgroup2

Very perceptive of you to notice the pauses, and good on you to describe why they were significant.

kalbokalbs

B I N G O.

pgroup2

Actually, a lot of us DO need lectures. The Ugly American is still alive and well. Putin knows this — hence the lectures on history.

Barb Meier

To me, Putin sharing Russian history wasn’t a lecture as much as it was sharing the perspective of Russians with Americans (including me) who have too little knowledge about Russia. I was interested in the context of what he was explaining. Putin was telling us Russia’s story.

Barb Meier

When they talked about genetics, I took that as referring to biolabs. Tucker asked about Elon’s brain chip implant and Putin did respond to that saying the world needs to define rules about what should be allowed. We have agreements on biological weapons and it is the US and China ignoring those.

pgroup2

Nothing says this has to be the only interview of TC and VP.

Gail Combs

True.
Putin nicely set-up his position starting with the historical background. He knows most Americans would be completely ignorant of that history. Witness those college students who are incapable of naming three other countries outside if the USA. (Yesterday’s open thread)

Without the historic background you can not actually understand the situation.

It is one reason I like Breaking History even though I do not always agree.

i wonder if there is a warning in the instructions to indemnify themselves in case idiots use their products.
for instance on every curling iron i have bought in the last 10 years–there is a warning to NOT use the device INTERNALLY while plugged in.
it boggles the mind that such a warning was necessary.

Gail Combs

That is there to prevent lawsuits.

pgroup2

But not to prevent using it as a sex toy.

That’s fine as long as you don’t plug it in.

RIght up there with the peanuts or mixed nut packages with the label:

“Warning: might contain nuts”….

Well, that’s reassuring. Nuts is what I’m paying for in that package…. and the “two-foot toaster cord” rule caused a lot of house fires when it was enacted, as people rushed to use lamp extension (No. 18) extension cords for their bright, shiny, line-cord-impaired 1200-watt toasters… funny how hot those little wires get when overloaded…

[I just took the thing apart and soldered in a longer “heater” cord… that’s probably illegal to do now…]…..

Hey you gotta have a warning for the dumb Sheeple who can’t even read now don’t you?

…According to a Gallup analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Education, there are about 130 million adults in the U.S. who have low literacy skills. This indicates that 54% of Americans between the ages of 16 and 74 read at a level below that of the sixth grade.

Surroundings. Always remain aware of your environment and body posture during use. Apple Vision Pro is designed for use in controlled areas that are safe, on a level surface. Do not use it around stairs, balconies, railings, glass, mirrors, sharp objects, sources of excessive heat, windows, or other hazards. Never use Apple Vision Pro while operating a moving vehicle, bicycle, heavy machinery, or in any other situations requiring attention to safety. Using the device in low light conditions may increase the risk of collision with objects in your environment.

This is the full text of the Dr. David Cartland X post from the open:

STAFF ARE LITERALLY PETRIFIED!!

Sent anonymously shared with permission:

I’m private messaging you from a friends phone! With her permission of course.

I work in a NHS hospital. It’s evident we are seeing patients presenting with turbo cancers, strokes, Guillian Barre ! They are all

So young with aggressive stage 4 ovarian/lung/liver metastasis and although Dr’s are passing comment nobody is really raising concern!

We were pushed to take the vaccine and declined! Our jobs threatened and all colleagues turned their back on us !

We were moments from loosing our jobs until the mandatory vaccines withdrawn !

They are still moving around the hospital trying to give the vaccine !

Everyone so frightened to discuss it because most have had the jab ! Others don’t want to start the conversation and are scared of the consequences!

So frightened for the future

This does not bode well for the state of the medical profession in the coming years. That they are still pushing the vax is a crime. Those who took the vax are afraid for their health now, and those who didn’t are afraid to talk.

GA/FL

It’s not just the doctors – it’s the hospital corporations, health agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and everything medical, scientific and all their sponsors (Bill Gates et al) and politicians too.

TradeBait2

When people choose (yes, choose) to stay employed in death factories in the medical industry I have difficulty finding sympathy. Leave. Walk out the door and never go back. Take a job in a grocery store or driving a truck or picking up garbage or whatever. Take bankruptcy if you must. Just don’t work in a death factory. Quit letting fear and death control your life.

Then tell everybody you know and love the truth about what you have experienced. Remove the guilt and confess. Be happy you made it out and encourage others to do likewise.

Gail Combs

If you wish to stay employed in the medical field QUIT and take a pay cut to work with a real doctor. AAPS has a listing of doctors. As others are saying, if we wish to survive as a country we must form a parallel economy. These guys are part of that.

Gail Combs

We are talking about quitting BEFORE taking the Clot Shot. It does no one any good if you are forced to take the Clot Shot and boosters and then become very ill or die.

pgroup2

My point is that quitting means the patients have lesser care.

I probably should have added that a group walkout would have been more likely to achieve a repeal of the mandate.

Barb Meier

That logic is how I decided not to risk taking an emergency use authorization shot. What good could I do dead?

IMO, the time is coming closer and closer that “un-vaccinated” persons who have “vaccinated” medical professionals in their family will have to cast off all fear of “being shunned”, “being ostracized”, “not being invited to their house” — and tell them the brutal facts about the COVID-19 “vaccine” poisons they allowed into their bodies.
God help them if “vaccinated” medical professionals don’t wise up NOW and do what they need to do to save themselves (and their “vaccinated” family and friends.)

Perhaps Dr. Cartland needs to read this:
http://www.theqtree.com/2024/01/04/the-deagel-report-u-s-population-reduction-of-68-5-by-2025/

In fact, every country on Earth that has any COVID-19 “vaccinated” people needs to be truly concerned.

Because the illnesses, injuries, disabilities, and deaths induced by the COVID-19 “vaccines” are just now starting to show up everywhere.

Because, IMO, this entire scenario was planned years ago. It was a plan crafted to, first, “cull the herd” in terms of world population; then, second, to dominate / enslave the remaining population. IMO, COVID-19 was created years ago, then unleashed in the late fall of 2019 in order to, first, “hobble”, then, second, to stop, the efforts of then-U.S. President Donald Trump in standing in the way of this plan.

The non-funny ones from the Babylon Bee illustrates how hard it is to make good satire. With time, satire decays, sometimes through conspiracy theory to spoiler warning, other times direct to spoiler warning, then after that, mainstream news that everybody knows.

The cracks in the various narratives are ever widening. All one can do is stand aside, stand behind the yellow line on the platform, and watch them fall apart.

Jonathan Turley:

The argument is now over. The disqualification advocates may have expected a cold reception, but this was perfectly glacial. Notably, some of the toughest and most skeptical questions came from the left of the Court.

All of his tweets X posts from Thursday are at this link. (I notice that it contains “nitter” in the URL.)

https://nitter.1d4.us/jonathanturley

Here are a few of them:

…Kagan just asked “why a single state could decide who is president of the United States… if you were not from Colorado … that seems quite extraordinary, doesn’t it.”

…Kavanaugh just agreed with Roberts that there is “no historical evidence” to support this interpretation of Section 3 in terms of state power.

…Chief Justice Roberts asked a deadly question of why the 14th Amendment (which is designed to limit the power of states) would be used to enhance this power of the states. He suggested that Murray’s arguments are “ahistorical.

Gail Combs

First, you do not want to go after Bidden while he is president.

Second the evidence that he was CONTINUOUSLY REMOVING CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS for 40 years = RICO.

The question then becomes WHO was Bidden’s handler all that time. Because Biden did not do this in a vacuum.

….

RICO

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) is a federal law (codified at 18 U.S.C. §§ 1961-68) targeting organized criminal activity and racketeering. RICO enhances existing criminal punishments and creates new causes of action for acts done as a part of an organized criminal enterprise

The law was originally passed in 1970 as a part of a larger movement to curb organized crime and to allow victims of organized crime to recover….

RICO imposes a maximum criminal penalty of 20 years in prison for violations of the statute. If sentenced the defendant must also forfeit all proceeds obtained while engaging in racketeering activity to the government. To be convicted under RICO, a pattern of racketeering activity is necessary. This means that at least 2 separate activities that can be classified as racketeering must have occurred within 10 years of each other…

Interesting that “…federal law (codified at 18 U.S.C. §§ 1961-68)…” Is NOT FOUND and the Wayback does not have it archived…

Going to Yandex:
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1961

As used in this chapter—

(1)racketeering activity” means (A) any act or threat involving murder, kidnapping, gambling, arson, robbery, bribery, extortion…

(B) any act which is indictable under any of the following provisions of title 18, United States Code: Section 201 (relating to bribery),…  and 1832 (relating to economic espionage and theft of trade secrets)…  sections 175–178 (relating to biological weapons)…

There is a whole page of various crimes listed, that is just a few.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1962

This is where it gets good. Think of the BIDEN CRIME FAMILY…

👉(a)It shall be unlawful for any person who has received any income derived, directly or indirectly, from a pattern of racketeering activity or through collection of an unlawful debt in which such person has participated as a principal within the meaning of section 2, title 18, United States Code, to use or invest, directly or indirectly, any part of such income, or the proceeds of such income, in acquisition of any interest in, or the establishment or operation of, any enterprise which is engaged in, or the activities of which affect, interstate or foreign commerce.

A purchase of securities on the open market for purposes of investment, and without the intention of controlling or participating in the control of the issuer, or of assisting another to do so, shall not be unlawful under this subsection if the securities of the issuer held by the purchaser, the members of his immediate family, and his or their accomplices in any pattern or racketeering activity or the collection of an unlawful debt after such purchase do not amount in the aggregate to one percent of the outstanding securities of any one class, and do not confer, either in law or in fact, the power to elect one or more directors of the issuer….

If you are interested, under the title towards the right are tabs for previous and next that let you step thru 1961 to 1968.

Gail Combs

And then there is the statue of limitations problem. All the old references I used to cite VANISHED… Imagine that.

Seeing the Forest: A Holistic View of the Rico Statute of Limitations — Notre Dame Review

1. The Last Predicate Act Rule and Klehr v. A. 0. Smith Corp.

Initially, some district courts adopted the last predicate act rule a rule unique to RICO that takes into account the continuing nature of a RICO violation. This rule was borrowed from criminal RICO 👉48 and under it a claim accrues when the last predicate act of racketeering occurs. 4 9 Thus, so long as the defendant commits a predicate act within the four-year limitations period, the plaintiff can recover for all injuries he sustained due to the defendant’s pattern of racketeering regardless of when the injuries occurred or when the plaintiff discovered his injuries…

FOOTNOTE:

48 A criminal violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1962(c) (operating an enterprise through a pattern of racketeering activity) is a continuing offense,👉 so the statute of limitations runs from the last act of racketeering in the pattern. 18 U.S.C. § 1962(c); see United States v. Yashar, 166 F.3d 873, 879 (7th Cir. 1999).

Gail Combs

UNITED STATES v. YASHAR (1999)

Michael Yashar was indicted for a violation of 18 U.S.C. § 666, which makes it a federal crime for an agent of a local government or agency to embezzle, steal, obtain by fraud, or otherwise misapply property of that government or agency that is valued at more than $5,000…

An offense is deemed “continuing” for statute of limitations purposes only when (a) “the explicit language of the substantive criminal statute compels such a conclusion,” or (b) “the nature of the crime involved is such that Congress must assuredly have intended that it be treated as a continuing one.” Toussie, 397 U.S. at 115, 90 S.Ct. 858. The classic example of a continuing offense is a conspiracy, but other offenses such as escape or kidnapping also may fall within those definitions. See, e.g., McGoff, 831 F.2d at 1078; United States v. Garcia, 854 F.2d 340, 343-44 (9th Cir.1988); see also Toussie, 397 U.S. at 134-35, 90 S.Ct. 858 (White, J., dissenting) (listing offenses traditionally considered continuing offenses). 👉The hallmark of the continuing offense is that it perdures beyond the initial illegal act, and that “𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁” even after the elements necessary to establish the crime have occurred. 397 U.S. at 122, 90 S.Ct. 858. For those crimes, the statute of limitations does not begin to run when all elements are first present, but rather begins when the offense expires. Therefore, for a conspiracy offense, the statute of limitations would not run from the time of the first overt acts, but instead would run from the occurrence of the last act in furtherance.1  Because the continuing offense doctrine extends the statute of limitations, we are admonished to construe that term narrowly. See Toussie, 397 U.S. at 115, 90 S.Ct. 858…..

Former President Donald Trump thanked Nevada Republicans at his campaign’s watch party in Las Vegas after he was projected the winner of the Nevada caucuses.

His brief remarks did not weigh in on special counsel Robert Hur’s decision to not recommend charges against President Joe Biden over the leader’s handling of classified documents.

Trump described watching Supreme Court arguments after the nation’s highest court signaled it was poised to back Trump and fend off a challenge to his eligibility to appear on Colorado’s ballot.

“The Supreme Court hopefully will be doing something in terms of helping our country and preserving democracy. We have to preserve our democracy and I think they had a very, very interesting day and a very beautiful day, perhaps I think it was really a beautiful sight to watch,” Trump said.

A word of encouragement from Transfigurations

Excerpt:
Do you question that God’s hand is sculpting the challenges we face today? If so, it is never too late to “awaken” to God’s truth and, through His truth, to find implacable strength. As one of the most popular Christian hymns ever written ebulliently declares: “Amazing grace! How sweet the sound / That saved a wretch like me! / I once was lost, but now am found; / Was blind, but now I see.” John Newton, an English slave-trader turned evangelical cleric and abolitionist, wrote that stanza, coincidentally enough, around the same time that Americans were declaring their independence from Great Britain. Throughout history, spiritual awakenings have consistently provided the timely foundations for every great struggle for human liberty. Ours is not at all different.

Enlightenments are messy. Social and political revolutions are fraught with unpleasant moments. Every quest for human emancipation is filled with heartaches, setbacks, and miseries. Yet it is what we do with the obstacles before us that changes the course of history. We are not expected to pick up the weight of history, heave it over our shoulders, and carry it to the place it belongs. We are nudgers. We push and pull at the current and help shape its path. You feel that impulse in your soul, don’t you? That’s because God is nudging each one of us, too.  Read it all!

Here’s a great performance of that concerto by Paco De Lucia. He caused a bit of a stir performing this, as he was a noted Flamenco guitarist, straying over into the classical realm, yet Rodrigo was really impressed by his performance…

The second movement is really moving, one could say battling almost insurmountable problems/opposition, yet succeeding… (hope I have it queued up correctly, it starts at 6:19, if not). The whole piece is well worth a listen…

Justice Jackson Shuts Down After Trump Lawyer Explains Why ‘Insurrection’ Mania Is A Stupid Talking Point

“…. Mitchell concluded. “The events were shameful criminal violence, all of those things, but did not qualify as insurrection as that term is used in Section Three.”….”

I wish these lawyers would DO THERE HOMEWORK!!!

Gail Combs

I was listening to other sound bites by the ‘Conservative’ Justices.

It seems to me they were leading that Colorado lawyer into a trap. They kept bringing up Article 14 sec 3. which as I have shown is DOA and even cited laws and cases. BUT they completely skipped over the 1898 law negating Sec 3.

IF that lawyer is using Article 14 sec 3 as the legal reason for disqualifying POTUS Trump AND the article has been rendered moot by the Act of June 6, 1898, THEN THE ASSHOLE HAS NO CASE! Esp since Trump was never tried and convicted under 18 U.S. Code § 2383 – Rebellion or insurrection

slowcreekno

It is so thoroughly moot that the Colorado lawyer should be sanctioned for wasting the Court’s time.

You have made the same point a number of times over the last few days so how does a STATUTE overrule or change an AMENDMENT?

Article V of the Constitution REQUIRES a 2/3 vote of both the House and Senate PLUS 3/4 of the state legislatures to ratify before an Amendment can be changed. The only other method is via a constitutional convention. Neither of these happened with regard to the Act of 1898.

Any part of a statute that is in conflict with an Amendment is null and void because it is unconstitutional.

Maybe the Supreme Court Justices kept bring up Article 14 sec. 3 is because it IS NOT moot or at least not for that reason.

Gail Combs

I bring it up because I can actually READ!

So here it is again.

The Amendment says point blank that
:wpds_arrow: Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

AND

Act of June 6, 1898, ch. 389, 30 Stat. 432 does exactly that in one simple sentence.

:wpds_arrow: An Act To remove the disability imposed by section three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States .

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Here is the research I presented several times already:

Amdt14.S3.1 Overview of Disqualification Clause

Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. 👉But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

👉The right to remove disabilities imposed by this Section was exercised by Congress at different times on behalf of enumerated individuals.1 In 1872, the disabilities were removed, by a blanket act, from all persons “except Senators and Representatives of the Thirty-sixth and Thirty-seventh Congresses, officers in the judicial, military and naval service of the United States, heads of departments, and foreign ministers of the United States.” 2 Twenty-six years later, Congress enacted that “the disability imposed by section 3 . . . incurred heretofore, is hereby removed.” 3

I had to use Yandex to actually find the law referenced!

 Act of June 6, 1898, ch. 389, 30 Stat. 432

Thank you [again!] for your efforts to educate the readers of this blog. 😍

Gail Combs

You are very welcome. Cornell law is a really good source.

pgroup2

Technically, the justices are limited to the issues/arguments presented by the parties. However when the opinion comes out, Gail’s [and my] view may well be determinative of the issue.

An example of a hidden but determinative issue was in the opinion discussed at https://firstamendment.mtsu.edu/article/elk-grove-unified-school-district-v-newdow/

Most striking of this case is the assumption by all parties [and all the judges as well] during all the phases of litigation that Newdow had Article 3 standing. SCOTUS ruled that the entire case was worthless.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Or to put it more briefly than Gail, the Amendment actually allows Congress to undo section 3…and Congress did.

So yes the amendment is supreme. And it gave congress the power to overrule it.

Valerie Curren

I haven’t been around the Q-Tree much in the last few days, but I don’t recognize your name/avatar, so welcome!

Actually, most Americans are clued in on Election Fraud.

December 12, 2023 Heartland/Rasmussen Poll: One-in-Five Mail-In Voters Admit to Committing at Least One Kind of Voter Fraud During 2020 Election Yahoo News

The results of these survey questions appear to show that voter fraud was widespread in the 2020 election, especially among those who cast mail-in ballots.

When asked, “During the 2020 election, did you fill out a ballot, in part or in full, on behalf of a friend or family member, such as a spouse or child?”, 21% of respondents who said they voted by mail answered “yes.” (Filling out a ballot for someone else is illegal in all states, although many states allow people to assist others with voting.)

Additionally, 17% of mail-in voters said they voted “in a state where you were no longer a permanent resident.” Seventeen percent of mail-in voters also admitted to signing a “ballot or ballot envelope on behalf of a friend or family member.” (Both voting in a state where you are no longer a permanent resident and forging a signature on a ballot or ballot envelope are fraudulent activities that invalidate votes, when caught by election officials.)….

Taken together, the results of these survey questions appear to show that voter fraud was widespread in the 2020 election, especially among those who cast mail-in ballots.

The poll of 1,085 likely voters was conducted from November 30 to December 6, 2023. Among those surveyed in the poll, 33% were Republicans, 36% were Democrats, and 31% were “other”; 32% were 18-39 years old, 46% were 40-64 years old, and 22% were 65 or older….

June 14, 2023 Rasmussen: 54 Percent Expect Cheating, Voter Fraud in 2024 Election Red State

…The pollster’s most recent survey, published on Wednesday, found that 56 percent of respondents believe officials have dismissed allegations of cheating and voter fraud that could have influenced electoral outcomes. This sentiment was shared by 44 percent of Democrats and 74 percent of Republicans.

The survey also found that 52 percent of likely voters think that fraudulent activities influenced the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections, which resulted in a far less successful night for Republicans than most pollsters had anticipated. Notably, this view was also shared by 41 percent of self-identified Democrats.

Meanwhile, many fear that the problem is likely to persist,  particularly as the country’s focus shifts to the 2024 elections and the Democratic Party’s attempts to block and overturn election integrity reforms implemented by Republican state legislatures….

Tucker Carlson met Edward Snowden in Moscow
https://www.semafor.com/article/02/08/2024/tucker-carlson-edward-snowden-tara-reade-moscow
Tucker Carlson has kept a busy agenda in Moscow, meeting with two key American figures living in exile there.
The former Fox News host met for hours Thursday with the NSA leaker Edward Snowden, Semafor has learned. While the former NSA whistleblower was a regular figure in the press in the years after he fled to Russia, he has largely receded from public appearances in recent years, citing the desire for wanted greater privacy for his family.
The Snowden interview was not for Carlson’s video program, but he did tape an interview with Tara Reade, a former junior Senate aide who decades later accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault (an allegation he denied). Reade moved to Russia last year after several years of increasingly speaking out in support of pro-Russian policies. In 2022, the Russian delegation to the United Nations called her to speak in 2022 on “weapons diversion,” and hosted Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations on her YouTube channel. When she made her allegations in 2020, Carlson stood out on the right for his skepticism.

This is as far as I got in the “Catturd vs. Taylor Swift” article linked up above:

“Choosing Catturd as your avatar signals you stand for crudeness and downward mobility. Taylor Swift as your poster girl says something different. Swift is clean-cut, relatively wholesome, and aspirational. It’s a far cry from a MAGA turd who talks shit.”

Time for some of my own crudeness, so pardon me.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Yeah, totally, as she wears her skin-tight, slutty, half-costume atop her Saturn-worship cube. A perfect role model.

Relatively wholesome?

She’s had TWELVE public relationships, none of which have gone anywhere at all. Who wants that for their daughter?

Aspirational?

Yeah, who doesn’t want to be the public punch for twelve guys, enticing young women to devil worship, while singing about the misery of being single yet again?

If we can’t make the case that this is not clean-cut, wholesome, or God-forbid, something to aspire to, we deserve to lose.

Taylor Swift accused of promoting WITCHCRAFT and SATANISM on “The Eras Tour”

comment image

…In a video circulating online, a conservative woman is seen providing detailed commentary during Swift’s live performance of “Willow,” a song from the Evermore album. The woman accused Swift of performing dark rituals while wearing a witch costume during the entire song.

According to the woman, a fan captured a moment at the concert where one of the audience can be heard encouraging Swift to “summon the demons.” Swift allegedly replied that the phrase “summon the demons” is the new crowd chant in her alleged witchcraft rituals.

The woman goes on to claim that demons react negatively to mentions of God and Jesus….

…Social media platforms, particularly X and TikTok, have become hotbeds for discussions surrounding the live performance of Swift allegedly doing rituals and summoning demons in her concert….

Swift herself associated “Willow” to witchcraft during a YouTube Q&A in 2020. “‘Willow’ is about intrigue, desire and the complexity that goes into wanting someone. I think it sounds like casting a spell to make somebody fall in love with you,” she said….

I’m detecting a theme :wpds_shock:
Eros – Wikipedia
In Greek mythology, Eros ( UK: / ˈɪərɒs, ˈɛrɒs /, US: / ˈɛrɒs, ˈɛroʊs /; [3] Ancient Greek: Ἔρως, lit. ‘Love, Desire’) is the Greek god of love and sex. His Roman counterpart was Cupid (‘desire’). [4]

Eris (mythology) – WikipediaEris ( / ˈɪərɪs, ˈɛrɪs /; Greek: Ἔρις Éris, “Strife”) is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Her Roman equivalent is Discordia, which means the same. Eris’s Greek opposite is Harmonia, whose Roman counterpart is Concordia, [3] though she is also described as opposing Nike, counterpart of the Roman Victoria.

Erra (god) – WikipediaErra (sometimes called Irra) is an Akkadian plague god known from an ‘epos’ [1] of the eighth century BCE. Erra is the god of mayhem and pestilence who is responsible for periods of political confusion. He was assimilated to Nergal at some point. [2] Epic of Erra

Maybe they could call it the Error Tour… or 404 for short…

Remember, the Devil presents himself as an angel of light…

Not-so-Swift’s constant bitching about bad men is just another misandrous attack on men, manhood, and, in point of fact, GOD HIMSELF… but it’s candy-coated (poisonous, no less) so the sheeple don’t see…

The snake outfit fits her to a “T”… as in Teufel…

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Hey, it’s the classic Egyptian folk band, the Taco Mohamads!

I’d recognize them anywhere!

Aubergine

This is an avenue of attack from some nefarious actor against the U.S. that I had not considered, but oh boy, would it get scary, and fast:

“FBI Director Christopher Wray recently warned America about a possible Chinese cyberattack on our electric grid, transportation centers, and energy facilities that would almost destroy our economy. The impact of such an attack is hardly hypothetical — countless schools, hospitals and private firms have been hit with such attacks and millions in ransom has been paid to hackers.

Director Wray’s warning singles out our industrial infrastructure such as oil refineries, but left unmentioned in his Armageddon is America’s social service network (the safety nets) that keeps millions afloat financially while meeting their food needs. Critically, few think of all these national and state agencies as part of our vital infrastructure, and so relatively little is invested in protecting them from cyberattack. Nevertheless, measured by both impact and vulnerability, the inflicted damage may far exceed shutting down air travel or disrupting hospitals.

Particularly consequential would be disrupting the government’s program to supply food to those with low incomes. the most important is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly called “food stamps.” The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture with the participation of state agencies. “Food stamps” began in 1964 to help farmers while improving nutrition for low-income Americans.”

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2024/02/the_day_all_the_free_food_vanished.html

This article pretty accurately describes what would happen in this instance, really quickly. I hope this system is hardened against attack like this, but I doubt it.

Gail Combs

42.1 million Americans, on average, participated in the SNAP program at a cost of $113 billion dollars (with some exceptions, families with a gross monthly income of $3000 or less are eligible)…..

That is over 10% of the USA population. HOWEVER…

As of 2020, there were 128.45 million households in the US.

So that is one third of US households.

Aubergine

It’s a lot of poor people. And they would be seven meals away from a murder, as the saying goes.

Gail Combs

Just point them towards the politicians that did this to them and NOT US.

Aubergine

Agreed!

pat frederick

hmmmm…would that affect the illegals?? and all the cash card they get?

Aubergine

Who knows? Probably. Imagine how violent that could get.

pat frederick

maybe that’s the point

mollypitcher5

For an admin that opens the borders to any and all actors ready to disrupt and destroy somehow thinking they care about hardening the system seems like a NO.

They’re too busy making sure trannies and unqualified people are taking positions of qualified candidates. No time for making things safe.

Aubergine

I know. So scary.

Brave and Free

IIRC from one of Tucker’s interviews, the #1 items bought with Snap……
Soda.

Aubergine

So does not surprise me!

kalbokalbs

I see wut ya did there. :wpds_wink:

Gail Combs

Most blacks in the USA are not of pure African ancestry. The Slave owners were a randy bunch.

Aubergine

Most white people in America who have ancestors who arrived here earlier than the mid to late 1800s probably have Native American or black ancestry, too. I have both. There was a lot going on back then that we don’t talk much about.

mollypitcher5

Not only were her ancestors slave owners they were slave traders.

Yeah her ‘great great grandpappy’ was one of the VERY nasty slave owners.

See you’ve avoided admitting that you descended from a plantation owning slave trader, & the Biden campaign tried their damndest to scrub the internet, but the wayback machine got you, here is an article that features an excerpt written by your father explaining it all.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) is the <b>descendant of an Irishman who owned a slave plantation in Jamaica, according to her father’s lengthy ancestral summary of his side of the family.</b>

Donald Harris, a Stanford University economics professor, revealed in 2018 that his grandmother was a descendant of Hamilton Brown, the namesake of Brown’s Town in northern Jamaica.

“My roots go back, within my lifetime, to my paternal grandmother Miss Chrishy (née Christiana Brown, descendant of Hamilton Brown who is on record as plantation and slave owner and founder of Brown’s Town),” he wrote in a post for Jamaica Global….

Hamilton Brown Hamilton Brown (1776 – 18 September 1843) was an Irish sugar planter and slave owner in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, which he represented in the House of Assembly of Jamaica for 22 years. He gave his name to Hamilton Town in Saint Ann Parish, now Brown’s Town, which he founded. Early life Career Death References

Further reading External links Hamilton Brown was born in 1776,[1] in County Antrim, Ireland.[2] Brown began his career as an estate bookkeeper[3] but acquired significant land holdings and agricultural interests in Jamaica. He was a pen-keeper (cattle breeder) and was responsible for a large cattle fair held on Pedro Plains in Saint Elizabeth Parish in 1829.[4] He also grew sugar[5] and owned the Antrim, Colliston, Grier Park, and Minard plantations, all in Saint Ann Parish, as well as having interests in numerous others.[2] He gave his name to Brown’s Town, originally known as Hamilton Town, in Saint Ann Parish, which he founded,[3][6] and in 1805 he paid for the construction of the original St Mark’s Anglican Church in Brown’s Town.[7]

He was a member of the House of Assembly of Jamaica in 1820[8] and represented Saint Ann Parish in that assembly for 22 years.[6] In 1832, he met Henry Whiteley on his trip to Jamaica to whom he argued that Jamaican slaves were better off than the poor of England and therefore the British government should not interfere with the way the Jamaican planters managed their slaves;

Whiteley went on to witness harsh and arbitrary whipping of slaves at the plantations that he visited during his stay.[9]

After the emancipation of slaves throughout the British Empire in 1833 by the Slavery Abolition Act, Brown was active in trying to recruit Irish people to work in Jamaica. In December 1835, 121 people from Ballymoney, Antrim, set off from Belfast for Jamaica on the James Ray, a brig owned by Brown. They settled in Saint Ann Parish. We need more CIA double agents like Michael D. Shellenberger who are arguing broadly and persuasively (with statistics) against the false narratives of: 1) racially biased policing, 2) climate alarmism, 3) violence against transgender people, 4) the harms of nuclear power.

We need more CIA agents from Mennonite parents (like MDS) who have provided primary information broadly via Congressional testimony (and other published work) revealing the multi-pronged, federally-funded network of NGOs and private companies which operate to censor voices which run contrary to the Security State narrative.

We need more like M.D. Shellenberger who are providing supporting research for the Missouri vs. Biden 1A case which is working its way to the US Supreme Court.

We need more CIA agents like Shellenberger, Michael D., who are willing to write best selling books about the hoax that is Climate Change (Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All, 2020) and then his follow-up book, (San Fransicko, 2021) about how Progressives (Democrats) are destroying US cities with their homeless and drug policies.

We need more CIA double agents who are converting former radical progressives (like Shellenberger, MD) by awakening them to the problems of a hugely funded, unaccountable, intelligence community, which is preying on US citizens while using the CIA tools developed to destabilize foreign regimes.

If publicly falling for the early 2020 Covid fear porn meant you are a CIA agent, then over half the country works for Langley. If everyone who erroneously pushed for lockdowns was a spook, then Trump and De Santis are both guilty.

Is it possible that MSD is a spy? The last 4 years have taught me anything is possible. But if he is a spy, he’s doing a terrible job of supporting the CIA sponsored Truman Show.

We revolutionaries haven’t even overthrown the elites yet. Don’t you think it’s a little early to pull out the guillotine?

“OUTRAGEOUS! FBI Refuses to Turn Over Seth Rich Laptop – Is Still Hiding Its Contents from American Public Despite Court Order – And Now Makes Up Ridiculous Story to Prevent It’s Release”
Excerpts:
Ty Clevenger tweeted out a string of tweets on the latest tricks by the FBI. They are obviously hiding the truth from the American people
Our FBI is sadly a rogue and lawless agency today.
1. Seth Rich Update: The FBI is playing really dirty. In an attempt to avoid disclosure of Seth’s personal and work laptops, the agency has invented a new story.
2. For the first time, the FBI is claiming that BOTH of Seth Rich’s laptops are relevant to the murder investigation, therefore they need to withhold them ENTIRELY.
3. Also for the first time, the FBI claims that the personal laptop is relevant to the ongoing “Russian hacking” prosecutions (yeah, you just thought the Russian collusion hoax was over!)
And there is more….

3. Also for the first time, the FBI claims that the personal laptop is relevant to the ongoing “Russian hacking” prosecutions (yeah, you just thought the Russian collusion hoax was over!)”

Hey guys. I just want to ask ONE question on the Joe Biden Document case. No one wants to ask this, let alone answer it.

Ready?

Are ANY of the classified documents found in Joe Biden’s houses, Penn Biden center office, or in Chinatown storage, also found in any of Hunter Biden’s emails? On his laptop?

Dare I say the answer to the unasked, is YES. THAT is what is being glossed over. That would be VERIFIABLE and proof positive of not only play for pay, but also espionage, and TREASON.

Gee, that would be an awfully good reason to call the laptop Russian dis info to keep it hidden, and would also explain why they went after Trump AND why Hurr went to the “elderly well meaning gentleman with a bad memory ploy.

They have NO bench. Kamala is as bad or worse than Biden, Newsome is horrible, and Michelle is really MICHAEL. Who they gonna get in a short time to feed to the meat grinder against Trump? Who ever goes against Trump is gonna get steam rolled, and their career will be OVER. That is why they have pushed Biden.

I guess there is always Hillary LMAO. NO ONE will want this turn, it is 2028 that the limited Dem bench wants, a time free of Trump (or so they think, I suspect Junior is about to hit the scene)

Gail Combs

From what Ivan Raiklin has said they have a decent backbench behind Trump. He did not say who though.

kalbokalbs

My guess. Mikki makes it official. D-Rat. Bitch will still lose.

prognosticatasaurusrex

The dems are STUCK. no one on their “bench” wants to come in on short notice and get their clock cleaned by Trump, and IF they replace Biden with anyone, that Is what will happen regardless. After the Senate debacle on Sunday, I think they all know the WH is lost to them, so they will try and use Congress to neuter Trump again. I am not say it will work, in fact they will get CREAMED this time, I just think that is their play.

Think, they KNOW Biden is toast, so to is his VP.
They CAN’T stop Trump legally and they know it.

They CAN’T cheat him this time cause it would be 100% obvious (Trump will get NORTH of 100 million votes, bank on it)

They CAN’T kill him, though they’d prefer to. That would 100% give them a look at President Donald Trump Jr, and they DO NOT want that. One Jr will not be as tolerant as his dad, and two , he will be given a mandate (100 million PLUS)to eradicate the Cabal, and I do not mean legally eradicate, I mean ERADICATE.

Their only play is to try and skim the House and Senate, and box in Trump (which I believe will NOT work) They simply waited too long to make their move whether they were overconfident on the sham cases, or their own hubris. Plus, I get the sense that Jill and Joe will not go gentle.

It is GLORIOUS watching them implode like a slow motion train wreck over an abyss.

I see that in that (now ex-)NASA fellow, Mark Rober (inventor of the glitter bomb, squirrel obstacle course, and all manner of neat sciency things)… also in some concert musicians. When the sense of wonder is gone, so is the appeal to the audience, at least the excitement at the performance…

While infected wounds definitely aren’t a good thing, neither is the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria which may occur due to overuse of the drugs. That’s where a new type of cotton bandage comes in, as it kills microbes without resorting to antibiotics.

That looks very promising. As I read, I kept wondering if they will be able to use it immediately or how long it would take to get it into use. I don’t think the article answers that.

A paper on the research, which was funded by Cotton Incorporated, was recently published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics.

Kansas legislature raking it in…93% pay raise in one year!

FTA
TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas is set to nearly double state legislators’ pay at the start of next year, making their compensation better than it is for their counterparts in a majority of states, including more populous ones like Georgia and Texas.
The increase is nearly $28,000 a year for rank-and-file legislators, boosting their total compensation from $30,000 to nearly $58,000, an increase of 93%. Legislative leaders get additional payments because of their duties, and the House speaker and Senate president are set to make more than $85,000 a year, up from $44,000.

The reason you NEVER turn your back on a ram.

Robert Baker

In my experience, a ram is the most appropriately named animal in the barnyard. I also found it inadvisable to turn my back on geese. Geese are the most predatory animals in the barnyard next to a mother sow with little ones which I always found the most dangerous.

Gail Combs

Geese put my poor Mom on the top of the car. We were getting eggs at a farm and the guard geese went after her.

I found my buck goats a LOT nicer than the rams. If I get a ram very young so I can wrestle him to the ground for Shots & worming from a young age (2-3 months) then they respect me.

We only made the mistake of buying an older ram ONCE. NEVER AGAIN!

Watch the Water, See the Storm: A Deep Dive into the Water Sector of National Security
by ASHE IN AMERICA

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the House Committee on Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee held a very interesting hearing entitled, “Securing Operational Technology: A Deep Dive into the Water Sector.”

[Bio of 4 experts]

These four experts were testifying before the subcommittee chaired by Representative Andrew Garbarino (R-NY,) with ranking member Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA). The subcommittee has four additional Republicans and three additional Democrats…

👉CISA is Still in Charge of US Critical Infrastructure 😫

Throughout the hearing, the experts drew parallels to the energy sector and talked about the sector interdependencies when it came to critical infrastructure. For example, targeting the energy infrastructure would result in cascading impacts to water, natural gas, and more.

But the macro concepts are even more broadly applicable.

Centralized technical control of critical infrastructure has created new complexities, and complexity breeds and hides corruption. Corruption could mean that security protocols are corrupted and the infrastructure is made vulnerable, or it could mean corruption in a more traditional sense, like crony capitalism, sweetheart deals, and non-competitive contracts.

When it comes to water, there was a moment in this hearing that indicated it might be both….

That Time Iran Attacked Pennsylvania’s Water Supply

In late 2023, we saw the latest, the various cyber activity against OT, devices and multiple sectors, including water and wastewater systems, by Iranian affiliated cyber actors,”… The government’s response has been to sanction Iran, and the cyber experts are critical of the response. Mr. Clancy stated that the sanction-focused response, “does not scale to the strategic threat that we face” and that “we must think of these attacks in the same vein as a major natural disaster where the solution is not technology band aids but it’s more about procedures and people.”

Knowing that most people’s eyes glaze over at technical jargon, let’s simplify the topic:

“OT” means “Operational Technology,” and it’s a hot topic because the “Internet of Things,” or IoT, has created entirely new categories of cyber vulnerabilities. [Like tooth brushes 🙄] IoT is the foundation of things like smart cities and highways, and refers broadly to sensors and other technologies that digitize the physical world.

The PA “hack” occurred because of a compromised device in the field, as shown in the AP reporting above.

The substance of the hearing was this OT threat category and the vulnerabilities of the IoT infrastructure that governs modern life. As Mr. Lee said during his testimony, “If you steal from IT, you steal somebody’s data. You target OT, you kill people. You need to treat that differently.” …

There is a lot more.

Brave and Free

Saw a commercial last night about natural disasters. Everyone texted their family and decided where to meet up because of the increased threat.
Sponsored by one of the government three letter agency.

Twice-failed presidential candidate and election denier Hillary Clinton’s address at Columbia University on the prevention of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) was abruptly interrupted by protestors labeling her a “war criminal.”

As Clinton took the stage, a protester’s voice cut through, denouncing her with the words: “You are a war criminal!… The people of Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and the people of America will never forgive you! You will burn!”

The protestor then began to chant, “Free Palestine!”

as effective as if he actually had nukes.

He fooled everyone and it ended his life.

I think that’s not quite right. While POTUS can make the initial decision to launch nukes, at least two of the joint chiefs or one of the chiefs plus the SecDef must agree.

Gail Combs

Yes but it has to start with the POTATUS…. If they can wake him up.

kalbokalbs

I have a slightly different take. “…return nuclear attack…” not part of the statement. US could be responding to conventional attack. It would be an attack, which POTUS determines, requires US nuclear forces respond.

ONLY POTUS can order a launch from or nuclear forces. <<< In defense of United States.

  • I take this to be, first strike, retaliation… 1:05:38.

Jonathan Turley (emphasis mine):

The “Unassailable” Theory Faces a Potential Unanimous Rejection

This week, the argument before the Supreme Court in Trump v. Anderson captivated the nation as the justices considered the disqualification of former President Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot. For some of us, the argument brought back vivid memories of covering Bush v. Gore almost 25 years ago. While one justice (Clarence Thomas) remains on the Court, the last major intervention of the Court into a close presidential election is a matter of distant history.

As someone who covered both cases, much is regrettably familiar: the deep division in the country and rage of many advocates. However, unlike 2000, the Court itself appears virtually unanimous in this case. The biggest difference is not the Court but the coverage.

The Trump case exposed the erosion of legal coverage in the media. For millions of Americans, the cold reception of all of the justices to the novel theory under the 14th Amendment came as a surprise. Networks and newspapers have been featuring experts who assured the public that this theory was well-based and disqualification well-established. The only barrier, they insisted, was the blind partisanship of the six conservative justices on the Court.

Twenty-four years ago, I was covering the Bush v. Gore case for CBS. I had just left NBC as an analyst when the election controversy exploded. While there were the usual partisans and some outlets slanted the merits, the coverage was overall balanced and informative.

This is not a case of the Court changing. We have changed as legal analysts. The Court itself is deeply divided on some issues. However, the justices gave a fair hearing to both sides. That is not the case with the coverage.

Looking back at the coverage, most legacy media called upon the same legal experts who have previously endorsed virtually every claim made against Trump. They predictably declared Trump as clearly disqualified despite the fact that this theory has never been embraced by the federal courts

Many of the media turned to Professor Laurence Tribe despite a long record of constitutional claims rejected by the Court, in some cases unanimously. Tribe assured the public that the theory was “unassailable” and also insisted that the theory (later voiced by Jackson) is “an absurd interpretation.”

It is important that such views are heard in the coverage. The problem is that the media has, once again, pushed this novel (and in my view unfounded) theory to the point that many assumed that it was indeed unassailable.

What was most troubling is the repeated attacks on the Court by legal experts who suggested that the only thing keeping Trump on the ballot was the bias of conservative justices. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D. Md.) declared “This is their opportunity to behave like real Supreme Court justices.” It appears that both Justices Kagan and Jackson did not behave like “real Supreme Court justices” in oral argument by objecting to core aspects of this theory.

We will have to wait for the final opinion but most of us are predicting a reversal of Colorado and the possibility of a unanimous or near unanimous decision. The question is whether such a result will change how media outlets frame these disputes in the future. After weeks of portraying the opposition as only resting with the right of the Court, the coverage had a weird disjointed feel as some of the same commentators reported that the justices appeared uniformly unconvinced by this “unassailable” theory.

pgroup2

We certainly live in interesting times.

___________

BS.

‘Overall balanced and informative’?

That must be some amazing hash he’s smoking.

Turley has always occupied the Left side of the Overton window. Always looks like the middle to him.

TheseTruths

Despite such occasional statements, Turley most often has the bigger picture correct.
The point of this piece is that the media has convinced the public that the 14th Amendment argument is solid and that the “conservative” SCOTUS justices were going to hold the country hostage by going against what pundits and leftie lawyers were saying. Turley is right: “how media outlets frame these disputes” is an issue, and I hope some on the Left will see how wrong their talking heads and lawyers were.

scott467

“and I hope some on the Left will see how wrong their talking heads and lawyers were.”

Why would they?

They’re hearing exactly what they want to hear

I’m not following this. They hear from the media and leftist lawyers that the 14th Amendment case has merit, which is what they want to hear, but then they later hear that even the leftist SCOTUS justices say it DOESN’T have merit. That’s what they DON’T want to hear.
