PSALMS 106:1-5

1Praise the LORD! O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures for ever! 2Who can utter the mighty doings of the LORD, or show forth all his praise? 3Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times! 4Remember me, O LORD, when thou showest favor to thy people; help me when thou deliverest them; 5that I may see the prosperity of thy chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thy heritage.

MATTHEW 9:9-13

9As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. 10And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. 11And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13Go and learn what this means, `I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Regarding this headline from the open…

Politico Says What We’re All Thinking: What If Biden ‘Just Dies One Evening?’
…here’s what would happen. People would immediately assume it was not a natural death. They would speculate about who decided on this timing and why, and how Newsom or Michelle or Pelosi or someone can get past Kamala to be POTUS. Some would say that it was predicted according to numerology/gematria. Those who think that an imposter was filling in for JB would say the ruse had finally outlasted its usefulness and had been halted, and reasons would be put forth. Every conservative influencer/podcaster/blogosphere-er would have his/her own theory. Some would say, “I told you so.” Others would declare the death and state funeral to be faked for the express purpose of distracting us from other issues. Along those lines, one theory would be that JB didn’t really die; he was just unable to fulfill his duties and this saved Kamala and other executive officers from having to use the 25th Amendment. Only .00001% would believe the death to be natural. The Left would blame Trump for being mean. 😅

kalbokalbs

All of the above, quite likely true.

And, I would yawn. Glance at the timing.

Freedom Caucus members voted to oust Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. It’s unclear if it worked.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/freedom-caucus-members-voted-oust-rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-unclear-w-rcna92960

Nearly two weeks ago, members of the House Freedom Caucus took a vote to oust Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., from the ultraconservative group. It’s still unclear whether that vote was successful.

Since the June 23 Freedom Caucus meeting, Chairman Scott Perry, R-Pa., and Greene have had multiple conversations. But a Republican source familiar with the conversations said Perry has not directly notified Greene that she has been kicked out of the caucus.

Another Republican source, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said Perry has not brought up the subject because he wants to sit down and talk to Greene about it in person, which is likely to happen next week.

Perry and the Freedom Caucus have not publicly commented on the matter since the meeting…

But in an interview Thursday night, an HFC board member said that Perry had made numerous attempts to reach Greene and her staff before and after the vote to oust her.

There were “multiple efforts to text, email, leave voicemail messages to her and her staff, which were not responded to,” the board member said. “

…The caucus voted on Greene, who goes by the nickname MTG, after some of her conservative colleagues had grown furious over her support for the successful bid by Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., for speaker and his debt ceiling deal with President Joe Biden

But the final straw may have been her clash last month with Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., whom she called a “little b—-” on the House floor.

A Freedom Caucus meeting was hastily called for 8 a.m. two days later, on the final day before the two-week Fourth of July recess, and a vote to remove Greene from the caucus occurred, two sources familiar with the incident said. A third source familiar with the deliberations said the vote was overwhelming in favor of ousting her…

But several Freedom Caucus members said they had not been told the agenda of the meeting beforehand and did not attend. The early morning meeting occurred on a Friday before recess, and it is unclear whether enough members were present for a quorum.

Several sources have described the confusing situation as “a mess,” and the group will almost certainly have to revisit Greene’s membership when lawmakers return from the recess next week…

In a defiant statement, Greene suggested she was not beholden to the Freedom Caucus, but she also gave no indication whether she was in or out of the group.

“In Congress, I serve Northwest Georgia first, and serve no group in Washington,” she said. “My America First credentials, guided by my Christian faith, are forged in steel, seared into my character, and will never change. … I will work with ANYONE who wants to secure our border, protect our children inside the womb and after they are born, end the forever foreign wars, and do the work to save this country.

“The GOP has less than two years to show America what a strong, unified Republican-led congress will do when President Trump wins the White House in 2024,” she continued. “This is my focus, nothing else.”

I’m sorry, but I call them like I see them, and Lauren Boebert IS a little bitch. She’s a prissy, passive-aggressive backstabber, too.

Senator Tom Cotton Demands Secret Service Release ALL Info Related to Cocaine Found in White House
From the article:
Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas is demanding that the Secret Service turn over all information regarding the cocaine recently discovered in the White House.
The story about where the drugs were found keeps changing and Tom Cotton rightly calls this a national security issue. If someone can sneak illegal drugs into the White House, what is to stop someone from sneaking a much more dangerous substance into the building?
The media is preparing to drop the story and move on because they want to protect Biden. Cotton is not letting it go away.

The Daily Mail reports:

…Cotton, the top Republican on the Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism Subcommittee, wrote a letter to U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Director Kimberly Cheatle on Wednesday with six questions he wants answered.

He demanded that Cheatle schedule a briefing with his staff.

‘Congress and the American people deserve to know how cocaine got into the White House,’ he said in a tweet along with an image of the letter…

‘According to public reports, the Secret Service has not yet confirmed where in the West Wing the cocaine was found,’ Cotton wrote in his Wednesday letter. ‘I urge you to release that information quickly, as the American people deserve to know whether illicit drugs were found in an area where confidential information is exchanged.’

‘If the White House complex is not secure, Congress needs to know the details, as well as your plan to correct any security flaws,’ the Arkansas senator added.

That’s not the point.

The point is that the reader is being misled by the use of the word ‘demand’. Tom Cotton didn’t use the word ‘demand’, the Gateway Pundit did.

Either the Gateway Pundit doesn’t understand what the word ‘demand’ means, or they do know what it means, and they are intentionally misleading their readers.

Words matter.

They shape what people think. If they didn’t, people wouldn’t use them.

To ‘demand’ something is to have the authority and power to compel performance.

……………………
1 a : an act of demanding or asking especially with authority: a demand for obedience

Black’s Law Dictionary, 4th Edition

DEMAND, n. A peremptory claim to thing of right, differing from claim, in that it presupposes that there is no defense or doubt upon question of right, Golden V. Golden, 155 Okl. 10, 8 P.2d 42, 45; Anderson V. Commercial Credit Co., 110 Mont. 333, 101 P.2d 367, 369; National Life & Accident Ins. Co. v. Dove, 141 Tex. 464, 174 S.W.2d 245, 247.

The assertion of a legal right; a legal obligation asserted in the courts; a word of art of an extent greater in its signification than any other word except “claim.” Nunn V. Titche-Goettinger Co., Tex.Civ.App., 196 S.W. 890, 892. Demand for payment. Peterson v. Rodgers, 51 Ariz. 502, 78 P.2d 480, 482; assessment upon corporate stock of deceased. Smith v. Fechheimer, 124 Fla. 757, 169 So. 395, 398; presentment of statement, Davison v. Klaess, 280 N.Y. 252, 20 N.E.2d 744, 746.

An imperative request preferred by one person to another, under a claim of right, requiring the latter to do or yield something or to abstain from some act. Zimmerman V. Hicks, C.C.A., 7 F.2d . 443, 445; Norwood Nat. Bank v. Piedmont Pub. Co., 106 S.C. 472, 91 S.E. 866, 867; school district’s request that depositary honor checks for salaries. School District of City of Lansing V. Fidelity & Casualty Co. of New York, 266 Mich. 189, 253 N.W. 263; demand for extradition, Ex parte King, 139 Me. 203, 28 A.2d 562, 564.
……………………

Cotton doesn’t have that authority, or if he does, he made a conscious choice not to use it here.

If he did, we wouldn’t be having this discussion, because the FIB would have turned over the information immediately, or suffer the consequences someone in a position of power and authority to make a ‘demand’ can impose.

What Cotton is doing is roughly equivalent to begging.

That’s why the FIB can and will ignore him with impunity.

So the article makes it sound like Cotton is a tough guy who is going to force the FIB to comply with his ‘demand’.

The truth is nothing of the sort.

The truth is the opposite.

The truth is the FIB will laugh at Tom Cotton and tell him to go pound sand.

Tom certainly and obviously knows this.

So there is a reason Tom did not use the word ‘demand’, and that reason is because he has neither the power nor the authority to ‘demand’ it, or else he certainly would have, instead of wasting his (and everyone else’s) time begging for something which he will not get.

Since Tom knows he will compel no such performance from the FIB with his ‘deserve’, ‘urge’ and ‘needs’ begging, the obvious conclusion is that, as usual, his comments are all hat and no cattle, classic meaningless political blither, intended to play to his base, with zero effect in the real world.

TheseTruths

You are correct that the article used words that Cotton didn’t. I have no argument with that point.

What Cotton is doing is roughly equivalent to begging.

…intended to play to his base, with zero effect in the real world.

This goes beyond your stated point (that the article assigned a different word than Cotton used), and informs my point:

As I said, it wouldn’t matter what words he used, he would still be criticized. No matter what efforts are made, even if they are all that can be done at a particular time in the context in which a person must work, the efforts will be criticized.

scott467

“As I said, it wouldn’t matter what words he used, he would still be criticized.”

______________

Will words solve the problem?

If words could solve the problem(s), would there be any more problems left to solve?

Do our problems exist due to an insufficient number of words to address them?

For certain, there is no shortage of words.

Is it not action which is needed, rather than (more) words?

He could very easily have said “I am as angry about this as the American People are, but as a Senator, I don’t have the power or authority to compel the FIB to turn over those documents.

To compel the FIB to turn over those documents would require ___[fill in the blank, whatever ‘action’ it is]__. That process begins today, and I will provide a progress update in seven days.”

Action, followed by accountability.

If that ‘action’ is something which Tom Cotton can do personally or with the assistance of fellow senators, then he should say so and provide a time estimate to achieve that action, and a date when he will update the public regarding his progress on the matter.

However, if there is no way for Tom Cotton to ever compel the FIB to turn the documents over, then he should say that, in order for the American People to realize and know that Congress is POWERLESS to reign in the rogue, degenerate, renegade and criminal FIB.

But Tom chose “none of the above”. Tom chose self-serving bluster, to make only a show of words.

Which is what we always get, and the only thing we ever get, from the political-class.

Is such not deserving of criticism?

Recall that this is not the 1960s, or the 1980s, or even the 2000s.

It is going on three years since the Republic ended with the unconstitutional transfer of power from a legitimately elected President to an unelected criminal puppet of a former president who is Constitutionally barred from serving a third term, but doing so anyway.

Are we not like Wile E. Coyote, having run a hundred yards past the edge of the cliff, pretending like we don’t know it?

If ever there was a time for criticism of the people who presume to lead this nation, is that time not now?

Last edited 10 months ago by scott467

Will words solve the problem?

I stopped reading after that sentence, since it is a straw man argument. Words, of course, are the vehicles by which anything is reported.

scott467

“No matter what efforts are made, even if they are all that can be done at a particular time in the context in which a person must work, the efforts will be criticized.”

_____________

Is such criticism not valid and deserved?

How might we judge?

Is past performance not a legitimate measure?

When was the last time any posturing member of Congress actually caused truth to be revealed or compelled government agency to provide satisfaction or relief to the People, as opposed to continually pimping us with promises of action which never materialize?

So much so that it is difficult not to conclude that inaction is their primary function?

Are they not the Poster Children of inaction, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing?

Or are they indeed signifying something, just something other than what it appears to be?

Saying one thing for public consumption, to ingratiate themselves with their constituents, while secretly serving some other purpose or master?

Could such be anything other than willful and intentionally deceitful and malicious?

How might we know?

Could we not apply the same test as I used for the Hussein?

Even a blind squirrel sometimes gets a nut. Even the incompetent sometimes get lucky. Even blind luck results in occasional success.

But with Hussein, every action, every policy, every decision led inexorably in one direction, to the manifest detriment of America, always and continuously.

If “Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action“, then what is 8 straight years in office, and all the years since?

Can we not apply the same measure to Mr. Cotton, and most (if not all) of the other ninety and nine criminals in the U.S. Senate?

TheseTruths

Is such criticism not valid and deserved?

Every case should be evaluated on its own merits.

If FIB actually did tell him to pound sand, it would be a compliment in that its normal behavior is to ignore. Responding at all gives value.

👉Not that Ukraine doesn’t already use cluster munitions, but with the most recent aid package, their ability to use cluster munitions will be increased. Ukraine has been shelling both military and (primarily) residential areas since 2014 with such munitions.
❓But, the USA seemingly forgets that Russia has the largest arsenal of cluster, thermobaric, and phosphorus munitions in the world; something which Russia has mercifully used, only on specific targets throughout the SMO. If Russia decides to utilise such arsenals; there will be more significant more death on the Ukrainian side.

About the new corridor from Central Asia to Russia

The Governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, said that now Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will be able to use the new multimodal transport corridor to Russia and back, bypassing Kazakhstan through the Caspian Sea.

From the point of view of logistics, the overland route through the Kazakh territories is faster and cheaper compared to the new corridor through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Caspian Sea — after all, the distance is longer plus transshipment to merchant ships.

However, its appearance is a very reasonable step taken by the authorities of Russia and the post—Soviet countries. Yes, it is more resource-intensive and less profitable than land-based, but it provides an alternative.

The dependence of Russia’s trade relations with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on the mood of the Kazakh leadership is dangerous in the perspective of Western influence on the domestic political situation in Kazakhstan and attempts to destroy interstate relations with the Kremlin.

Diversification of logistics routes reduces this dependence on Kazakhstan, and also demonstrates to a very careless neighbor that in the case of an anti-Russian policy, Kazakhs may be left without a significant share of the profits from transit to and from the Russian Federation.

LOL!!!

If the driver wanted to socially distance, they’re doing it stupid.

Having a line of ten cars on your ass is not what anyone with more than about four brain cells would call social distancing.

An absolute disgrace to the car she/he was driving.

My morning commute is on this two lane highway…and usually I get to drive it “unconstrained” (i.e., where my only constraints are actual safety and cops) until a certain point…where there will ALWAYS be someone leading a parade at 10 MPH under the speed limit (and it’s never the same person either).

This clown was a couple of miles earlier than that, and much slower.

scott467

I used to have to drive a winding, hilly, two lane highway when I would come home from (or go back to) college.

145 miles each way. It was always a race, my record was 97 minutes.

The worst was getting stuck behind a line of cars who were all too afraid to pass the semi in front of them.

I knew the road well, so when we crested a hill and I could see far enough to know whether I could probably beat the oncoming traffic, I would pull out and begin the long march.

In a 5-speed, 4-cylinder 1980 Celica. Downshifted to 4th gear and red-lined, that little squirrel under the hood was going as fast as he could go.

More than a few times I had to pass 7 or more cars, PLUS the semi they were all too afraid to pull out and pass, which is why there was such a long line of traffic backed up behind the semi in the first place.

And every time, as I sailed clear of the pack, hitting max speed of 110mph in 5th gear, and checked my rearview mirror, sure enough… after seeing me pass everybody, from the BACK of the pack, the other drivers got brave, and started passing the semi too 😂

Thanks for the link … my between the lines take is that USG Intel Agencies have increased their ‘data mining’ or as Elon terms it, ‘info scraping’ to the extent that they (Intel) learned the US public views the activities of US/NATO/Ukr gaslighting wrt Russian plans to strike the ZNPP as that … gaslighting/FALSE FLAG ..

The Thinker believes US/NATO will con’t to gaslight in this regard as a cover when needed for Ukr’s “offensive” failures …

The Thinker’s article linked affirms Elon’s disclosure of ‘info scraping’ and ought to concern Americans as to the depth of spying the USG engages in … instead, they complain about not being able to view tweets…

Larry’s latest:

REGARDING THE UPCOMING NATO SUMMIT, I COULDN’T WRITE IT BETTER
6 July 2023 by Larry Johnson 56 Comments

“I have cited articles by my new friend, Stephen Bryen, in previous posts. Steve and I do not always agree. But I know him to be a man of integrity. You don’t always have to agree with someone in order to like and respect them. Unlike the disgraceful Bill Burns, Steve does not put a finger to the wind to figure out what he should say. He looks at the current situation based on his life experience and gives you an unvarnished account. I encourage you to read his latest on Substack — What to Expect from the Vilnius NATO Summit.
I was planning a similar piece but, in light of what he has posted, I decided not to plow the same ground twice. Steve carves some very straight, powerful furrows.

Part of the Western foundation for Ukraine’s offensive was the introduction of modern technology on the battlefield, represented especially by the appearance of the Leopard tank. Unfortunately for NATO, the Leopard tanks have not saved the day for Ukraine. So far, between 16 and 20 Leopards have been knocked out on the battlefield along with lots of other NATO-supplied armor including infantry fighting vehicles such as the US Bradley and mine clearing systems like the Finnish Leopard 2R HMBV and the German Wisent 1.

Leopard, along with the US Abrams main battle tank, form the armor backbone of NATO’s land defense. While the US and its allies have superior airpower, they have sparse and inadequate air defenses compared to what Russia can bring forward. That means that a land defense needs to stand up to Russian artillery, attack helicopters armed with missiles, lethal drones and air launched mines.

The failure of the Leopard in Ukraine represents a huge challenge for NATO and signals that the current NATO “tripwire” strategy may not work. Under the tripwire paradigm, the idea is that an initial Russian attack (most likely in the Baltic states because Russian forces are very close to Estonia and Latvia) can be held for some days while the US ships heavy forces into Europe. But if the tripwire is illusory, then NATO is exposed to rapid Russian advances in Europe should an attack be launched. The bottom line is that NATO’s strategy needs revision or, alternatively, that the Europeans and Russians work out a mutually acceptable security arrangement. It is exactly such an arrangement that Russia proposed to NATO in December, 2021 and which was rejected without discussion.

Now the ammunition cupboard is bare, even in the United States. The Russians are learning how to counter advanced western systems, a negative development for NATO’s security. It could not be a worse time to risk Europe’s security on the basis of being able to stop a Russian attack. It may be easy for British politicians to scream they want NATO to fight in Ukraine, but it isn’t London that is likely the first target of Russia’s missiles. Cracks in the alliance are emerging more quickly than anticipated, and Europe’s weak governments are in trouble.

TradeBait2

If you wanted to undermine America’s security and standing in the world, how might you go about it as a strong enemy?

You might try to fight a proxy war cage match that your citizens strongly support for all of the honest, objective professionals to observe and record the results. Which is then reported to the leaders of nations as they make choices to align or not with the winning side (you). The cost/benefit analysis of alignment with one or the other would be at stake. You don’t need to win all over to your side. You need to win some strategically located over and put others on notice they better stay neutral in the future or be destroyed.

Check. Russia’s full onslaught of Ukraine along with BRICS and its worldwide expanding alliance.

Meanwhile you continue the infiltration and disruption of society in America such that it crumbles from within using perverts, cartels, traitors and seditionists. Some of these are brainwashed into believing they are the good guys. They take over key federal and willing state functions along with society’s institutions such as schools, media, money supply, etc.

Check. Mission is well on its way to accomplishment. All that stands between mission accomplished in the rear view mirror is MAGA. Us.

We see you, Satan. 🔥 is your final destination.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

If you were weaponizing a bioweapon against a large swath of world population, what would you do?

Use COVID 19 or equivalent respiratory oriented disease. Create fake vaccines and fake therapeutic meds and procedures to do the dirty work after enough fear porn is disseminated by media and controlled medical community sources. Said vaccines, which are actually experimental gene therapies, would need to lower immunity to allow natural health weaknesses within the targeted population to activate. Cardiac, cancer, blood disorders, infertility, etc. all strongly on the upswing with excess mortality.

What does being one of the most obese, least personal health conscious nations on earth add to this?

DoD Invokes Defense Production Act To Boost Metals Mining After China Export Controls

FTA

“As a refresher to our early reporting, gallium is most common in semiconductors, transistors, and small electronic devices. It’s also used to make LEDs. As for military-grade Gallium Nitride, it’s found in cutting-edge weapon technology that US defense companies produce. Three of the most common uses for germanium are rectifiers, transistors, and weapons-sighting systems.

What’s most alarming is China controls the world’s processing and refining of rare earth metals.”

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/dod-invokes-defense-production-act-boost-metals-mining-after-china-export-controls

———————————————-

I thought invoking the DPA was an Executive Branch decision.  Apparently, the DoD is now exposed as to who is running the show? So we’ll start to see more production 5-10 years later after mining is able to ramp up? They will be running those mining operations with all battery powered equipment correct? Go green…

Lots of nations have the raw materials. The trick is the industrial magic after the raw materials get delivered… the production of the actual product from that raw material. China is one of the few nations to do that step.

But no one is concerned about the Strategic Petroleum Reserve because the Biden Team/Neocons think we can wait on Electric Tanks and Electric Planes if this country is attacked?

This situation looks very similar to the cheap NatGas problem in Europe. Lets blowup the NS1&2 first, then look for expensive NatGas to power the European industry. Similar, with rare earths. Lets piss-off China first, which has a near worldwide monopoly on rare earths, then look for alternative for our (defense) industry. And I assume we are dealing with the same ‘planners’ in both cases. Selling off Uranium One was a bad idea after all?

Cuppa Covfefe

Since we invented most of those processing techniques and the equipment that goes with them, it shouldn’t be much trouble to bring them back. The fact that the DOD is invoking DPA to get things running again is only a disappointment with regard to the fact that they waited so long.

ZeroHedge is hyperventilating here. They should take a look at some of the mining industry journals and sites to see what actually IS out there. Steve McIntyre probably has something up on it by now…

phoenixrising

How does that work exactly?

Do high tech machines just drop from sky?

Does it magically create skilled workers?

Does it shield from environmental wackos?

Does it protect from insane unions?

According to a Pentagon spokesperson cited by Reuters, the US Defense Department announced on Friday it is invoking the Defense Production Act to boost the domestic mining and processing capacity of two rare earth metals, gallium and germanium, critical for high-tech chip-making for the US defense industry.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

The article either is written on the misunderstanding that gallium is a rare earth metal, or it just seems that way because of an abrupt subject change between the two paragraphs quoted.

There are plenty of elements that have limited sources, but that doesn’t make them one of the rare earth metals. The ones that actually are rare earth metals are the ones in the top of the two rows that look like a footnote in most presentations of the periodic table (lanthanum through lutetium). The elements in the footnote are called the “lanthanides”, these are usally combined with yttrium and scandium (the two elements above the “hole” left in the periodic table by pulling the “footnote” out) to create the category of rare earth metals/rare earth elements. (Lithium is also often misidentified as a rare earth metal in one article that keeps returning (and getting posted) like a bad penny.)

Gallium is nowhere near this place on the periodic table, it’s over under aluminum. Lithium is way up in the upper left corner directly under hydrogen (it’s one of the alkali metals). They’re very different, chemically from the lanthanides (and the rare earth elements). The only similarity is that their commercially viable ores are rare enough you have to go to certain parts of the world to get them. (They’re not actually all that rare in the cosmic sense; cerium for instance is at least as common, atom for atom, as copper, and you probably have some in the lining of your self-cleaning oven.)

phoenixrising

Of course “rare earth” is a misnomer … one coined by usual suspect…

“gold” is probably the only “rare earth” /s

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Well…It’s complicated, and my response would depend on how I interpret your comment. In one way it’s actually dead on, though you did mean it sarcastically. But it would take a long time to untangle.

You may have just caused me to change tomorrow’s science topic.

phoenixrising

I meant it when expressed (gold) … then added /s because I’m not a rocket scientist and wasn’t sure of my comment …

I’m a political junkie … see the manipulations involved … ignore the minerals (except those trace ones needed for my health, so drink gator ade when I work in the yard)

You and several others are rocket scientists and zero in on that … no offense meant, just trying to explain in my back-to-normal word salad way at this point in my life …

(sigh) yardman cometh … will now go dig in the dirt which I enjoy and know more about.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yeah, it comes down to how things are classified.

Gold is what it is. It’s rare, it’s a metal, it comes out of the earth.

But it’s not a “rare earth element” or a “rare earth metal” even though all three of those words apply. There’s a lot of history involved.

Even though none of the rare earths are actually as rare as gold, the difficulty of finding a halfway decent ore, then extracting them and separating them from each other (we really didn’t know how until the 1950s, and it’s still tough) means that functionally they are rare, as in hard-to-obtain. And that turns them into a political football, though they aren’t the only ones which are political footballs for the same reason. You’ve seen gold, I’m sure; you’ve probably never seen the rare earth metals (I have, but I had to take special efforts to do so).

Now there are elements (but not “rare earth elements”) that are, in actual fact, at least as rare as gold…but (leaving aside radioactive special cases) they’re generally in the platinum group, almost centrally located in the periodic table.

phoenixrising

The ‘rare earths/elements’ are not called ‘rare’ because they are found only in few places on earth. They are everywhere but in small quantities, thus called ‘rare’.

Because they are in small quantities/concentration, you need to go through a large amount of common earth, sometimes full mountains to extract whatever you need. This destruction looks very ugly to the naked eye, and uses large amount of energy (oil and gas). So, Greta here she comes to save the planet.

(everytime I see the word ‘germanium’ my brain starts looking for red flowers, skips right over the ‘m’ as in ‘germ’)

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I sometimes have the opposite difficulty. “Are those flowers germaniums?”

I think germanium was used for the first semiconductors, but silicon turned out to be cheaper to use once we learned how. There are probably other reasons for the change as well. (I wouldn’t be surprised to hear some applications still use germanium.) There are also other elements, and even combinations of elements, that can be used this way…when I was in school aluminum-gallium-arsenide was thought to be the wave of the future. (It wasn’t.)

slowcreekno

An alloy combining silicon and germanium (SiGe), used for certain types of transistors make very low noise devices, useful for receiver first stages, where some weak signal should be amplified and not degraded by noise. Apparently the compound of the two Group IV -materials* is good for this.

Detector diodes may still be germanium, or they might be made of silicon; the Schottky type where one side is aluminium is quite popular at high frequencies.

Unfortunately the REE term has a very specific chemical meaning.

Not that the concept you are putting forward isn’t a legitimate one, but it needs a different name…I’ve often seen “strategic metals” used in a similar context (or when talking about the ores, “strategic minerals”).

Stoltenberg – on the eve of the NATO summit in Lithuania:

✔️Zelensky will take part in the first meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the summit in Vilnius.
✔️NATO as an alliance does not have a position on the convention on cluster munitions, because a number of our members have signed the convention, a number of others have not signed the convention. The decision on the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine is up to individual members, this should be decided by governments, and not by NATO as an alliance.
✔️We have shipped an unprecedented amount of different types of ammunition and continue to announce deliveries. This is properly coordinated. Ukraine needs to use thousands of shells every day. Therefore, you need to send them again. This is exactly what the allies are doing: they are supplying Ukraine with more and more ammunition and spare parts for various artillery systems, armored vehicles, tanks and air defense systems.
✔️NATO is preparing an additional 500 million euro assistance package to Ukraine, including fuel and medicines.
✔️After the summit, we will take further steps to strengthen our deterrence policy with three new defense plans to combat our main threats, Russia and terrorism. One plan is for the North and the Atlantic, another for Central Europe, and a third for the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.
✔️The Alliance will adopt a plan to deploy over 300,000 troops backed by significant air and sea forces.
✔️NATO countries will set 2% of GDP as the minimum amount of military spending. Defense spending by NATO countries in 2023 will be increased by 8.3% – a record increase in decades.

pgroup2

Hmmm … who started that ‘meet-your-duties’ 2% thingy? Could NATO be afraid that DJT is going to win in 2024 and beat up on it some more?

phoenixrising

That’s the Minimum now … Stoltenberg is upping it to 8.3% … a record increase .

“A real turmoil began in Congress against the backdrop of the White House’s proposal to supply Ukraine with cluster munitions . This was simultaneously opposed by both Trump supporters, calling for a truce, and left-wing Democrats – who have long kept quiet on the topic of Ukraine.

But now they were too impatient. Somali Congresswoman Ilhan Omar immediately sent amendments to the upcoming military budget for a complete ban on the export of cluster bombs from the United States. And hawks in both parties have become worried – this decision could finally undermine the already shaky consensus in Washington about further support for Ukraine .

The Biden team appeals to the fact that the stocks of conventional ammunition are already heavily depleted – and Kyiv still cannot advance with a counteroffensive. Opponents also point out that cluster weapons have not been produced for years . Very old ammunition will be sent to Ukraine – in which the share of unexploded shells can reach 15-30% .

In other words, cluster munitions will then continue to kill civilians for years after the end of the conflict . This also met with strong concern from international human rights activists – they already recorded the use of cluster bombs by Ukrainians in Izyum in the summer of 2022, which led to the death of eight civilians.

The United States actively used cluster munitions in Iraq and Afghanistan – the consequences of their use are still felt by the local population. Now it may be the turn of the Ukrainians – if the divided Congress still approves it. If cluster bombs are eventually delivered, but the counteroffensive continues to slip, then agreeing on the next military budget for Ukraine in August-September risks becoming a very difficult task for Biden’s apparatchiks.”

A Kita (basically, daycare) over here was planning to have “body-discovery room” where young (down to three years of age) could explore their and other children’s bodies. The children would decide what was appropriate or not. And, of course, said exploration would be done unclothed.

Fortunately, parents got wind of this, and got the authorities and school and health hierarchy involved. So far the parties involved are not talking about it at all, except for some limited finger pointing (hopefully they washed them first)…..

This “exploration” is being pushed by an institute founded by a paedophile contemporary of Kinsey, who persist in sexualizing the schools and curricula here.

Interesting pair of comments:

My theory is that easy money from Sallie Mae gave people with no business going to college the ability to do so. Colleges, in order to keep these unqualified students from flunking out, created pseudo-intellectual degrees – i.e., the “studies” majors. Since the entire curriculum was fabricated out of whole cloth, it was impossible for anyone to fail Thus, the colleges got the benefit of a full tuition for four, and sometimes five years from students that historically would never set foot on their campuses. And since these “students” were never the sharpest knives in the drawer, there was never any danger of critical thinking, original thinking, or questioning the absurdities of the subject matter. In essence, easily duped and easily manipulated human ATM machines.

and, reply to that

Why blame Sallie Mae?

From ABC News website (March 2010):

To highlight the education reforms in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010, Obama signed it at the Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Va., and focused on the largely overshadowed student loan reforms.

The student lending overhaul ends the current program that subsidizes banks and other financial institutions for issuing loans, instead allowing students to borrow directly from the federal government. Interest rates for some borrowers will also be lowered.

Øbløwhøle strikes again…..
