I realize that until recently the diagnosed cases of WuFlu were:
1) someone who had traveled to suspect areas recently
2) someone who live with a diagnosed case
3) someone already presenting with illness/symptoms that warranted a test
This smaller scale testing gave us diagnosed cases that were skewed toward those with symptoms v. a broad spectrum that included mild cases.
However, this ratio is Not good: 452 deaths in the US/178 recovered
(we also have ~34,000 known cases that are yet to be resolved one way or the other … do not divide deaths into current unresolved cases as the 34,000 are not yet ended)
Why do have this ver high death rate of the resolved cases? Are “resolved” cases inaccurate and only represent the cases with complications/hospitalizations that have been discharged v. those who were diagnosed and tested positive but have gone through the illness at home due to no complications? Do we have more resolved cases than are reported?
Even if this is only hospital cases resolved and we have many more who tested positive but have stayed home and are unreported as over it/recovered – this is Still a Very high rate of hospital cases resolving/ending in death than recoveries/discharges.
I know we will have more of those hospitalizations recovering as the new med recommendations are applied but still…this ratio is very lopsided and alarming and surely it is inaccurate.
Thoughts?

It’d be interesting to know that, sure…but I don’t think it really matters (unless you’re a perfectly healthy person who’s worried about “what if”). There are plenty of people running around with one foot in the grave, true, and ChiComVirus does a good job of putting the other foot in for them–but it’s still an alive person turning into a dead one, immediate cause ChiComVirus. It still kills its victims.
I agree that “number of cases” is essentially meaningless without saturation testing of everyone, at this point. It’s clear that CCV has broken out and there’s no “containing” it any more; the only thing we can do is each isolate ourselves. If we have it, we have it and at least won’t give it to someone else; if we don’t, we’ve effectively contained it in the pool of everyone else in the world, by doing that. Hence these two weeks of massive inconvenience and severe economic impact (which Trump is trying to alleviate, so people have jobs to go back to).

MAGA Mom

If we only counted deaths from WuFlu that had no other health issues then would we begin to do the same with the seasonal flu? Flu kills but vast majority who the flu kills already are ill, older, immune system compromised, underlying health conditions etc. It is Normal/Usual to count them as Flu deaths if that is what was the illness that caused them to pass away when they did. Same with WuFlu. If this is what causes a person to pass away then that is what they died of despite other health issues.
Seems that people keep focusing on the phrase “underlying health issues” as a way to comfort themselves that it really wasn’t the WuFlu but that they were already sickly. They seem more focused on the “underlying health issues” than on the WuFlu itself. Kind of like pilots during war time (or other military probably too) dismissing certain deaths as “their time was up” as a way to distract themselves…?? But a Huge majority of Americans have “underlying health issues” so really doesn’t narrow it down. Health + age increase/decrease chances but other factors at work.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Exactly, exactly, exactly!!
We don’t say, “Job Lowe died of a heart attack, but he was way overweight so instead we’ll blame it on his being fat.” We write “heart attack” down for cause of death.
This distinction may be a good one to make BEFORE the person gets sick. “If you get it, it probably won’t kill you,” versus “If you get it, it will likely kill you.” But whoever it does kill–we shouldn’t let it (and the people who concocted it, released it or were so unsanitary as to let the natural event happen (pick your favorite theory as to where this crap came from)) escape blame.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

But again, you’re holding this to a different standard than other people holds, say, the flu to.
We hear over and over again how many thousands of people the flu kills, but no one ever asks, how many of them were healthy?
Why the double standard, done to minimize ChiComVirus?

GA/FL

Strangely though, CCV has only ‘broken out’ and created ‘hot spots’ of infection:
A. in areas where sanctuary laws and leftist leaders allow accumulation of illegals.
B. in areas with airports and cruise ship ports or industries that employ illegals.
Note the delicate language describing non-residents of the states included in the statistics – these non-residents just might be illegals who have dared to present themselves for testing and treatment. There may be many more infected and hiding out. (Remember the question about illegals in yesterday’s press briefing?
I’ve been closely following FL and GA – and have not seen signs of virulent spread outside of hot spots…so far.
Most of the cases in counties with few cases are travelers….so far.

MAGA Mom

Your description of a hot spot does not fit Williamson County TN which began with a man traveling to the BioGen conference. It is now being spread around the community.
Davidson County seems to have been partly from conference and partly by traveling students before going “wild” in the community.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Yup. This is the “bad denominator problem” I’ve been harping about since the beginning.
I am now building my own stats for SYMPTOMATIC cases where me and my old scientist friends believe we have identified probable cases among us. Only one death so far (70’s, ex-smoker), and one mild disability (moi). SEVEN cases (50s & 60s) with only sickness, not disability or death.
If the cruise ship is a guide, somebody did a calculation that HALF of all cases of *infection* are totally asymptomatic. So that would mean match those 9 with 9 asymptomatic for 18 total infected.
That is a 5.6% death rate in a group which is skewed strongly toward the upper end. (late 40’s and up). Seems to make sense, but still probably high.

Teagan

My elderly cousin has a serious lung problem and just spent 3 weeks in the hospital with a collapsed lung…on oxygen 24/7. It will be a miracle if she survives all this…any type of flu will be a quick death…then she would be thrown in the pool of Virus-related deaths when in fact any any type bacteria/virus would cause death at this point.
On the other hand, her young, healthy children who are caring for her are asymptomatic, but are around her constantly. Perhaps being infested with the virus , becoming critically ill and dying … it would be a totally different circumstance.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I would expect that the 178 people counted as recovered are almost entirely people who got hospitalized for the ChiCom Virus.
Which indicates to me that you’re more than likely to die–if your case is serious enough to warrant hospitalization in the first place.
It says nothing about the likelihood of your fate if you merely “test positive.”
From what I have seen so far, the number of deaths after positive diagnosis IS on an exponential curve still. See the “Total Coronavirus Deaths in the United States” graph on the page for which you painstaking spelled out the link.
A lot have theorized that this has really been around for quite some time, and any “exponential curve” we are seeing now is simply because more people are being tested and properly diagonosed. I can see that with numbers of cases…but I can’t see my way through to that one for deaths, and I’ll explain why:
Since mid February (about the time the graph starts), we’ve known about this crap, and anyone in the hospital with some sort of severe respiratory crud would have been tested for ChiComVirus (henceforth CCV), as they get top priority. Thus we should have actual accurate numbers of CCV deaths, at least for those in hospitals, since that time. Now if CCV has been going around for months, we should have INSTANTLY seen a significant number of daily deaths when we started testing seriously ill patients, and that number should have continued at a high rate–any exponential growth that happened “way back when” would have to have flattened out by now, or we’d all be dead. Instead, we see a growth curve; NO ONE was dying of CCV for nearly two weeks after the graph began.
Which tells me that whatever was going around earlier, that many here report having had…is either something completely different, a different strain (different enough to fail to be detected by the test?), or perhaps just a first wave. (But how did it completely die out then?)

MAGA Mom

Agreed, Steve. Small percentage need hospitalization but of those that do…wow! Hope to see this change with newly applied existing drug therapies and combos.
Also, perhaps those that die of it pass away faster than those who do recover take to recover so we will see the numbers even back out eventually?
I posted this on the wrong thread…sorry. Will post tomorrow about what I have been learning about the way flu cases and infections are calculated. Huge % of the stats are presumed/assumed/estimated cases. Eventually, our WuFlu #s will reflect the same as the untested, milder & non symptomatic cases are accounted for in the numbers. But for now the numbers are only those who have officially tested positive and the “recovered” are probably only tracking those who were hospitalized. Not a good ratio! Hope to see that stat improve quickly!
I would also like to know the average hospital stay for someone who does have complications/require a respirator

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

According to something or other I read which used to be quoted a lot, if you do recover from a severe case, you’ll still be in the hospital for “weeks” recovering. Taking up a bed someone else might need. This is why there was (and still is) a concern that our hospitals could run out of beds.

MAGA Mom

Did you have a chance to watch the press conference today? many military field hospitals (I guess like MASH units??) deploying to hot spots like NY and CA
Transcript not posted yet on WH.gov and I don’t remember exactly but it is good they are proactively increasing hospital beds before saturation and then scrambling to fix the problem

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yeah, that’s a positive good…however for reasons I explained when I did my thing on exponential growth, we CANNOT keep ahead of the problem with that alone (fortunately, we are doing other things too).
It’s obvious, though, that someone expects serious cases to climb a LOT before things get better.

GA/FL

These are people with SERIOUS UNDERLYING HEALTH CONDITIONS – whose health picture is EXTREMELY FRAGILE.
I had a mother with advanced smoking-related COPD and have a daughter with advanced Friedreich’s Ataxia (FRDA) and any little flu bug or cold or skin/tooth infection or aspirating a food particle can result in – runaway life-threatening SEPSIS with heart/lung responses – that lands these kinds of patients in the hospital and INTENSIVE CARE!
It’s SCARY how fast these patients nose-dive into critical situations!!!

GA/FL

Re-stating that – It’s SCARY how fast these patients nose-dive into critical condition and life/death situations!!!

GA/FL

Our son-in-law is a pulmonologist professor in a medical school in IL. He was trained at Johns Hopkins, and good/smart enough that he was asked to stay and teach at JH and did so for a number of years. A FL woman died in their hospital from the CCV. Because of knowing his high background standards and skill, it seems to me that her baseline condition was so bad before contracting the virus – that it just tipped the scale and sent her into an irreversible crisis and the best care in the world could not have saved her.

coosmama

And sepsis will kill you in the blink of an eye. Very underrated condition to most. You cannot use these jumbled up, partial stats, incorrect data, to try to graph anything at this point. The CV may just be a co-morbidity.
Things are moving so fast, not enought time to sort all of it for the beancounters. Treat, and move on to treat the next. Lives before numbers for this particular mess.
Please don’t throw biscuits at me. I am all for data, research, problem solving. But CV has too many variables in real time, and too much false data, to create a competant study of affected ratios.
We also don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. Please don’t quote me on this number as it changes daily, but it is estimated that 311,000 people globally were infected on approx 3/20/20. Not dead, but sick. Why is the global economy taking a hit, with a number like that floating around? Three stadiums of people sick? “These people are sick”.

cthulhu

According to Karl Denninger, the one-year survival rates for anyone on a ventilator are about 5%. It can get you out of the ICU, it can get you out of the hospital, it can pass the crisis……but your best bet is to not be on one in the first place.

🦋🤸‍♀️🦋bflyjesusgrl🦋🤸‍♀️🦋

Not all recovered were hospitalized. There are cruise people and others that were quarantined who have recovered. Recovery can take 2-3 weeks or longer, it is a very slow number to rise.

eilert

I would wait a little bit more. The recovery rate may increase drastically n a few days time.
If one can believe the ChiCom statistics, a large proportion (far more than 50%) have now recovered.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

I think a lot of the recovered people are damaged, if my own case is any indication. I thought I was completely recovered and “good as before” – no – wrong – it’s like this ChiCom virus gave me COPD overnight. I’m thinking there are going to be as many wounded as dead.

Deplorable Patriot

This is my big concern. The after effects. I had a NASTY bug when I was 19 that did something to my lungs. For almost 20 years or more, every time I got anything that had the least chest congestion it took forever to get over it.
I’m now thinking one of MY big problems is lack of vitamin D. I didn’t spend as much time at the pool or in the sun as I usually do over the summer. The couch commando is a lifeguard, so he was tan as can be by September. I’m wondering if that is now a difference for us since our dad is a regular 20 minutes at midday sunbather and rarely gets anything that isn’t REALLY contagious.

GA/FL

Wolfmoon – you may need to get your doctor to send you to a good professional lung rehab program to rebuild breathing and lung capacity.

coosmama

And in some cases, lung tissues do regenerate!

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

I believe my doc’s office is fully compromised by some of Nan’s Nasties in the office. I may have to move on unless the infestation is cleaned up.
Just found out that somebody there falsified my records. My appointment purpose was ALTERED from the actual purpose to “checkup on depression”.
This is the THIRD TIME somebody altered the records toward a “depression narrative”. The first time was an outpatient surgeon’s hospital report, stating that I had mentioned depression as an active symptom (NOPE). Second one was some kind of depression testing that got scheduled surprisingly and out of the blue. And now this. Just shocked the hell out of me.
I don’t think it’s the doc – I think it’s somebody working there, or the ChiComs or dirty feds have an APT on the place.

GA/FL

Do they have another patient with the same name? Or is somebody lining you up for a ‘suicide’

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

It’s creation of a depression narrative. It’s the CREATION OF PLAUSIBILITY. Doesn’t mean they WILL use it, but it creates options – leeway for getting away with crap.
Stories – narrative – “his doctor said….” blah blah blah – it WRAPS UP SUSPICIONS.
I’m not depressed. Have not suffered anything resembling depression for DECADES, and even that was – once I became aware of Gottlieb chemicals and their use – very likely exactly what I thought it was at the time – CHEMICAL.
And, of course, I still have all the names associated with that incident.
So I’m striking back hard. They want to keep their little facility under wraps? BACK THE FUCK OFF.
I noted these narrative manipulations earlier but didn’t say anything until now. This third incident was the final straw. It was too clean – over the line. Desperation.

I wrote, Over There, on Monday, January 17 2017 (when I was busy having to fact check people who didn’t know how long it was to inauguration), a bit of a joke that Donald Trump would issue an executive order that Mondays would no longer suck.
They do seem to be better now, but maybe that’s just the fact that I was no longer looking ahead to the Hitlary Klinton Regime. Not having to be worried about that is like NOT having a burning tire around one’s neck.

We have a sense that that is true, which is why good people have restrained themselves. But once that line is crossed…the ultimate destination is rarely a happy one. (1776 was very much an outlier. Think 1789 or 1917 for more usual cases.)

Of course, they weren’t satisfied.

Licentious sexual behavior is their baseline normal in leftist-land NY. Health department people are probably worried about more than the coronavirus spread – quarantine could also mean a concurrent STD outbreak amongst a bored shut in NY decadent leftist contingent.
Always results in disease and frequently death – no matter the age and no matter the income level.
Happened in Conyers, GA – an epidemic outbreak of the major STDs among very young teens left to their own devices and experimenting with sex activity in a wealthy Atlanta bedroom community – set the CDC stats out of whack that year!
Happened among the very-rich seniors in an exclusive FL retirement community – one bisexual got the whole community infected with HIV and quickly passed from person to person in this amoral agnostic freestyling group of over-privileged bored seniors who thought because they could not get pregnant and had lots of money, they were also exempt from STDs. Wrong! That little outbreak also upset the CDC statistics for a year.

As for snow, March is traditionally our snowiest month, followed by April. But it tends to be snow that’s gone in 24 hours or less. (We had one of those just a week ago–morning, I could barely get out, evening it was gone.) The weather pattern continues into June, usually, except as it warms up it becomes rain.
Of course, that’s the pattern 20 years ago; then things got hotter and drier and we had two disastrous fires in less than a year.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Yikes!! SO much for “five cents a cord” later in the season.

patfrederick

ok…throw me a lifeline here…you lost me…
5 cents a cord?

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Oh, after you harvest the zucchini, there’s so much of it you sell it for five cents a cord to get rid of it.

patfrederick

LOL…
the second yea rof our little veggie garden we got 4 zucchini…enough for one stir fry and 4 loaves of zucchini bread…did I mention it’s a LITTLE garden?
we live in a hundred acre woods–on a mountain–flat spaces with adequate sunshine a rare…
when we put in the pond, we had to berm the one side so the water didn’t run out constantly…LOL…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Maybe Colorado is just especially good for growing zucchini. My mom planted eight hills of it the first time…and never did more than two after that; it was coming out of our ears.

patfrederick

LOL…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

…I’ve even heard people say we should call ourselves the zucchini state.

patfrederick

LOL
you’d probably like our woods–it’s a mix of hardwoods, but there’s plenty of Aspens here too

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Have respect for those aspens…the largest organism on earth is an aspen grove, somewhere. (The trees aren’t individuals; they’re all connected underground.)

gil00

We had a very dry feb, shorts days even. Last 2 weeks going into 3 its flipped. Lots of rain, cold, and even having to have the heater on daily. It poured all night last night again. We arent getting as much wildflower bloom but at least things are green.
Hoping fire season stays away this year.

patfrederick

can someone explain this to me SIMPLY?
when discussing the annual flu shot, doc says they guess what strain of flu is gonna come from the East. WHY? Why is it coming from the East? what causes a new flu to mutate there first instead of mutating here first? or are they just creating them there and sending them here?

patfrederick

well that’s comforting at least…
but maybe I should have more coffee anyway…lol
it might come to me—or at least help me understand when someone does explain it…

Deplorable Patriot

I’m starting to believe the bugs coming from the east has been going on for centuries. What do we not know?

coosmama

We don’t know, lol, but God does ! Acts 16:6, the Holy Spirit forbid Paul to preach the word in Asia. 🙂

GA/FL

1. Asians are the ones who eat live bats, mice, birds, snakes, etc.
2. For all the face mask wearing, it is Asia that pollutes and poisons its land, rivers, coasts, people with toxins, excrement and garbage!!

GA/FL

3. It is Asia, particularly the communists – China and NKorea – that silence the news of outbreaks.
4. It is communist and Islamist Asia – both middle and far east – that doesn’t give a rip about the people, the poor – only their bottom line $$$ primarily for the elites!

patfrederick

so the new flu ever year is a crossover disease or caused by someone eating an animal that has a disease that then mutates into something humans catch?

GA/FL

Probably a mutation….since it takes off in humans that have no resistance, creating an epidemic in eastern countries…and then goes global.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It’s close contact with farm animals, which are the reservoirs for flu (hence “bird flu” and “swine flu.”) The “hicks” in east asia (not necessarily China) tend to be close (no, not necessarily THAT close, get your minds out of the gutter) to their farm animals, sometimes sleeping in the same building with them for heat during the winter (this was a common practice in Europe a couple of centuries ago).
If a virus manages to “make the jump” from being infectious to animals to being infectious to humans, we have a new flu strain.

patfrederick

thanks Steve!

patfrederick

thanks wheatie for the thread–and your word of the days—I LOVE THEM!!!!

A nice touch – helps to keep us learning, too – Thanks, Wheatie!!!

we got snow…did you?

duchess01

Hi, Pat! * Sigh * Yes, we did – it is just March going out like a lion!
God Bless and Keep You!!! Hugs!!!

patfrederick

in my mind, it’s the onion snow—that last hurrah of winter that signals it’s time to plant the onions…lol

duchess01

I agree – last hurrah of winter – buh, bye!

patfrederick

well it better be…(like i get a vote)

duchess01

LOL – newp – no vote – unless you have one of those ‘seeding’ planes?

patfrederick

IF I had a plane, I would be flying over Pelosi’s house constantly mooning her

duchess01

LOL – she will get her just desserts – have you seen her face lately – it is sagging – like many of the others – lacking a particular ingredient? Just saying…

patfrederick

she should look fresh as a daisy with her recent vacay–not like she was working

Deplorable Patriot

It’s too early to start pulling this crap.

patfrederick

is there a rule that will not allow quarantined Senators from voting from home? working from home as a lot of us are supposed to now?

kalbokalbs

My understanding is Senators must be present. Same for House.

prognosticatasaurusrex

and yet no one questions that it is ONLY 5 republicans that are infected or “self quarantining” NO Dems. Red flag #2. do dems seem at ALL worried about catching this “killer’? Do they seem at ALL concerned about we the people or OUR suffering and health?
WHY? either this is all another scheme using a real virus to the nth degree, OR the dems HAVE the antidote, and used it on themselves. more than HALF of the dem caucus in the House and Senate is not just OLD, they are VERY old like 70’s and 80’s old, yet NONE of them are sequestered. Things to ponder. The evidence is MOUNTING that we have been HAD.

duchess01

No rule of which I am aware, Pat – here is what I found – a desk vote does not require the Senator to be in the Chamber – but he/she probably must be ‘in house’ – maybe, someone will pass a motion – no way they can get 60 if not all of them are present – that stinks – McConnell might try to pass cloture

patfrederick

interesting that only Repub Senators (where we held a majority) are quarantined or testing positive. or is my tinfoil hat on too tight…

duchess01

Romney is not a Republican, Pat! I giggled when PT said – good – lol
Who else is quarantined – Collins is – I know – ???

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Targeting. ChiCom Psy-Op. THEY’RE EVIL.

duchess01

You really think they were targeted, Wolf?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Yes. I believe that ChiComs let their American Fake News create a false timeline of infection, while ChiCom assets and Black Hat CIA began spreading 1-2 levels away from all intended targets. I believe there has been a steady program going on for a while, and the epidemic was intended to wipe out the evidence.
Oh – and I just found out that they falsified my medical records to make it look like I am battling depression.
I kid you not. This is the THIRD TIME in the last couple of years that they’ve tried to create that narrative in my medical records.
I’m not longer putting up with this shit. I’m strongly considering doing a FULL DECLOAKING – real name, address, phone number, pictures – the works. At which point it nukes my old employer and all the federal agencies (including white hats) with a footprint there. Nukes my old universities – nukes the CIA’s best international cover – anybody who reads all my old posts will be able to put it all together.
Their choice. BACK THE FUCK OFF OR I BLOW THE WORKS.
It’s WAR.

duchess01

The Awakening of the American People is unprecedented – they know what is going on – and they do not like it one bit.
You may or may not come clean – however – when it all comes out in the open – people will be angry – right now – they are angry because the Dims are playing politics with their finances – with their ability to care for their family – with their jobs – instead of promoting healing – they are spreading their disease again – the American people are fed up – and they will make their positions known.
It is going to get ugly when those idiots return home – now I know why they will not be able to walk the streets – the blowback will be massive!
