This MAKE PREPARATIONS MONDAY open thread is VERY OPEN – a place for everybody to post whatever they feel they would like to tell the White Hats, and the rest of the MAGA world.
You can say what you want, comment on what other people said, and so on.
Free Speech is practiced here. ENJOY IT. Use it or lose it.
Keep it civil. They tried to FORCE fake Orwellian civility on us. In response, we CHOOSE true civility to defend our precious FREEDOM from THEM.
Our rules began with the civility of the Old Treehouse, later to become the Wolverinian Empire, and one might say that we have RESTORED THE OLD REPUBLIC – the early high-interaction model of the Treehouse – except of course that Q discussion is not only allowed but encouraged, and speech is considerably freer in other ways. Please feel free to argue and disagree with the board owner, as nicely as possible.
Please also consider the Important Guidelines, outlined here in the January 1st open thread. Let’s not give the odious Internet Censors a reason to shut down this precious haven.
Remember – your greatest gift to President Trump is FIVE WORDS:
I AM PRAYING FOR YOU.
Also consider the amended Wheatie’s Rules:
- No food fights.
- No running with scissors.
- If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.
- No shooting at the nuclear warheads.
Which is to neither confirm nor deny that we have nuclear warheads.

May be stormy. With a small S.

So we shall.
I hope you both chuckle and recoil just a little…I know…pretty disturbing this one…
I have a mischievous little grin on my face for building this particular monster…
Yikes! LOL!!!
Don’t need no E-gyptian goddess worship round here! Besides, ain’t it s’posed to have a human body and an animal head?
That thing is just – YIKES!!! SO WRONG!!!
LMAO!
Don’t care what anybody says, now that is funny.
Perfect opening post.
I hope this posts correctly….it’s a new interview with Mark Taylor. It’s longer than some I have watched, an hour or so, but there’s some good info in it.
He incorporates Q into this one, and notice what is on the shelf behind him, just over his left shoulder.
New interview with Rick at Blessed to Teach. Enjoy.https://t.co/XlsiqgUK1h

Thanks Wheatie!
You’re very welcome, Volgarian.
😀
I always look forward to a MT interview, so thank you for posting this!
I like him too, this one is a little long but it’s the first time I’ve heard him talk about Q
Nice Monday Reflections…
Love it!!!

New Q posts, #3019 – 3025.
BOOM!
Q is a night owl. Posts 3021-2025 up, about Snowden.
Post up in a second…
Q+ (President Trump) is a night owl:-)
Should we keep the gab thread going or comment here since it is a new day?
I hope I can write this clearly enough for you to understand … for those of you who got signed up on gab & feel comfortable enough with a ‘next step’ … .. if you want a relatively easy way to find some people to follow (Qtreepers & other prolific tweeters), go to Wolfm00n’s gab page (by typing wolfm00n in the search box) & click on HIS FOLLOW link to see the list of folks he follows. If you want to follow a name on his list, just click the green follow button & gab will add it to YOUR follow list.
Here’s the tricky part, when you are looking at Wolfie’s list of folks he follows, Gab already knows if YOU are following a name on that list. If you ARE already following a name on Wolfie’s list, you won’t see a green FOLLOW box, you will see an UNFOLLOW box. Do NOT click it or you are deleting that name as someone you follow.
You can do the same thing with anyone else’s list. For instance, many of us tweeters follow Brian Cates (Draw and Strike). On Gab, he is DrawandStrike. You can either put that in the search box OR follow him from Wolfie’s list. Then you can click on Brian’s list to find some other well-known tweeters if you want to follow them on gab.
I hope this makes sense. Probably tweeters will ‘get’ this, but others might not 😒
No need to wrack your brain trying to find people through the search box, if you can “force multiply” by following using the lists of names that other people already follow.
Ok Brian only follows two people on gab 🤓 But PrayingMedic is another one to check his follow list and grab some good accts to follow.
Shit, Wolfie. Now I’m hooked on gab. When I vowed I wouldn’t join till POTUS did ! You rascal 🤨🧐🤪
LOL! BE PREPARED!!! 😉
Wolfie had hundreds. I cheated and used Miss Wheatie’s list, caught em as she added🤓 TYSM, Miss Wheatie!!😎😎
LOL!!!
Bfly, you were … Sneaky? Cheeky?
No, you just took a peeky 😍
Work smarter, not harder Baby!!😜
Thank you Alison!!
Dear Q-T-Pies,
“Let the devil know NOT TODAY!!”

Testing something here…not sure if this Gab ‘tweet’ will post here:
https://gab.com/SurvivorMed/posts/51014126
Yeah – there is no Gab plugin for WordPress, whereas the Twitter plugin expands tweets, and the NYT plugin renders nice Times blurbs.
Drat.
I think I tried posting a Gab ‘tweet’ over at CTh…but I was hoping that perhaps something had changed and it would post now.
BTW…what do we call the Gab ‘tweets’?
Has anyone come up with a name for them, other than “messages”?
Gabbers would be the people? Are they posting gabs? As in “I tried posting a gab”
Or are they gabbing, as in “I tried gabbing at CTH”
Might require additional dictionary meaning to gabbers & gabbing !
Who is the gab founder? Andrew Torba? Perhaps we look at his acct for clues.
I thought about a few possibles for what to call a Gab message:
A ‘gabbage’…as in Gab + message.
A ‘ribbit’…since the Gab logo is a frog.
A ‘gabbit’…as in Gab + ribbit.
Personally, I kinda like ‘gabbit’ the best.
EWheatie, those are Good, really amusing. I’m not on Gab, though.
Zoe–Please get on Gab!! THat’s where we will all meet up if this site goes down!!! It’s not too hard–
Scroll through the Gab Post to see how to…
Hugs!!!
And as for what to call us people who are posting on Gab…I kinda like ‘gabsters’ better than ‘gabbers’.
😀
But that’s just me.
I got it, Wheatie! 😉😂

daylight savings time is here to stay folks – president trump tweeted he would be fine getting rid of it so you know what that means…
double down by the progs and soon we’ll have it 4 times a year… sad.
Actually he tweeted he’d be fine with going to it year round. Yuck.
Media Matters is after Tucker Carlson.
They unearthed clips of his appearances on Bubba The Love Sponge show (no, me neither) that date back well over 10 years, with some more comments in 2010.
They must have had to search really hard for this:
https://twitter.com/RyanHillMI/status/1104933854467493889
Tucker’s Wikipedia entry makes it sound as if he made the Bubba remarks recently:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucker_Carlson#Misogynist_remarks
‘In March 2019, audio recordings of Carlson were released in which Carlson made remarks degrading women. In comments made on the call-in show Bubba The Love Sponge Show, Carlson said that women were “extremely primitive” and compared them to dogs, called Rape shield laws “unfair”, referred to several prominent women as “pig” and “cunty”, defended polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs who’s been convicted on charges of child sexual assault, and stated that women “just need to be quiet and kind of do what (they’re) told”.’
N.B.: He did not make these comments on either MSNBC or FOX.
https://twitter.com/JesseKellyDC/status/1104918009376899074
Yeah, this blew up last night as we were all going to bed.
Media Matters – typical behavior for them. Comments are crude but I like the way he is handling it.
Me, too. Hope Tucker will be okay.
He must be over the target.
Yep, it definitely looks like they are out to bring down Tucker.
Tucker even said once that he would nominate Sarah Palin to be ‘President of Milfistan”…or something like that.
The Dems and GOPe loved that.
And yes…it was crude and vulgar.
But Tucker fights.
That’s why the Left wants to take him down.
He understands them…and he fights them with their own methods.
Tucker should just shrug and say that he is “a product of the Bill Clinton years”.
It is the Left that has worked hard to bring every possible crudity and vulgarity into our vernacular and our daily exposure.
They are being total hypocrites to try to use this against Tucker.
Agree 110%, wheatie.
They should go after a couple of their freshmen congresswomen instead. Talk about unmitigated, unapologetic hate.
Fox issued a Statement disavowing and chastising Judge Jeanine Piro for the things she said about little Jihad Girl Omar, in her opening dialogue for Saturday night.
Judge Jeanine was spot on, as usual!
But ooooh, she dared to speak out about ‘sacred Jihad Girl’…so all the usual suspects started screaming about it.
Pffft!
Madness.
“They hit you you hit back harder” President Trump .. 🤨👍❤️
I would almost bet money that they’d deny this–that we are the real hypocrites. After all, we have standards and they love finding instances when we don’t live up to them.
Since they profess no standards, they can’t be violating them while preaching them.
Hmm. Chinese uranium mines in the US:
https://twitter.com/Avery1776/status/1035006934087286784
https://twitter.com/Avery1776/status/1104894539045765120
So the Chinese are mining our uranium, to build their bombs to shoot at us?
Wow, just wow. The chutzpah.
During the Slick Willie administration, they used Buddhist monks to launder illegal foreign money to into Willie’s and Algore’s and the DNC’s campaign coffers.
In return, we let them have all our surplus military equipment as “scrap”, so that they could haul it back to China on scrap ships, and reverse engineer. Then they built up their military, to where they now make knockoffs of our fighter planes, and their navy has more ships than ours.
We also let them put Chicom “exchange” scientists in places like Los Alamos, and wouldn’t even let the security guys there issue them a different color ID badge. So if you were a patriot scientist working there, you wouldn’t even know if the new guy sitting across the lunch table from you was a fellow American, or a Chicom.
And the kicker, in the chutzpah department, is that Clinton gave an order to destroy all the geological records from all the billions of dollars of prospecting wells that Uncle Sam had drilled since WWII to find uranium all across the western US.
They even had to destroy the indices that told what plots on the map had already been explored.
So now we have huge uranium deposits available in this country, but we don’t have know where they are. All the years to find them will have to be duplicated. This is probably why we are a net importer of uranium now.
But with all the environmental regulations that have gone into effect since the 70s, those wells are going to be a whole hell of a lot more expensive to drill this time around. Maybe tens of billions then, maybe trillions now.
Cloward-Piven applied to geology.
I bet Peking had their guys over here secretly photocopy those records before they were put down the chipper.
Bastards.
This x1000!
Sarah Isgur Flores reassigned at CNN after uproar.
The Hill article doesn’t mention that a number of high profile people at CNN also objected.
Is she that desperate for a job?
From the article:
https://thehill.com/homenews/media/433284-ex-trump-doj-official-to-serve-as-cnn-analyst-not-editor-after-backlash
‘Former Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores, who was hired last month as a political editor by CNN, will instead serve as a political analyst for the network, she announced Friday.
‘The role change for Flores, who previously served under former Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the Trump administration, comes after CNN faced considerable backlash from some members of the media as well as the Democratic National Committee after she was hired to help coordinate the network’s 2020 political coverage.’
More duplicity. George Stephanopoulos, Clinton Chieftain, and mega donor to the Clinton Foundation, is head of Politics at ABC.
UGH!
Nick Sandmann (Covington) latest:
Good idea young Sandman.
I’m thrilled, too.
This case will teach him a lot.
I hope he becomes so rich he doesn’t have to work.
Interesting 2017 timeline about Sessions and McCabe:
Sad:
Democracy Integrity Project’s ‘dark money’:
https://dailycaller.com/2019/03/10/dark-money-fusion-steele-soros/
‘A dark money group with links to several high-profile liberal activists contributed $2 million to The Democracy Integrity Project, an organization founded by a former Dianne Feinstein staffer that has contracted with Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele to investigate President Donald Trump.
‘Fund for a Better Future (FBF) donated $2,065,000 to The Democracy Integrity Project (TDIP) in 2017, according to IRS filings reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
‘TDIP was founded on Jan. 31, 2017, by Daniel Jones, a consultant who worked for Feinstein, a California Democrat, when she controlled the Senate Intelligence Committee. Jones has disclosed to the FBI that he hired Fusion GPS and Steele, the author of the anti-Trump dossier, to continue an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
‘He also told an associate that TDIP operated as a “shadow media organization helping the government.” Jones suggested to the associate, Adam Waldman, that his TDIP team planted several anti-Trump articles …’
it was said at an earlier time (months and months ago when this guys ploy was coming forth that he had a warchest of something like $50 million dollars to work with.
Diana West just released a major new book Friday.
The Red Thread: A Search for Ideological Drivers Inside the Anti-Trump Conspiracy
It’s published by the Center for Security Policy (Frank Gaffney’s group) and available for order immediately on Amazon.
She is a journalist (a real one!) and researcher who has done stellar work on exposing the Communist conspiracy in our government, and has been a vocal and eloquent rider on the Trump Train since he came down the escalator.
You can hear her talk about it here on Wednesday’s episode of Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio podcast:
Secure Freedom Radio. Frank Gaffney interviews Diana West
Here is her blog, where you can read more about her new book, as well as all the Communist stuff she has discovered in the backgrounds of all our favorite people (to despise): Brennan, Cardinal Jim Comey, Crooked, Bruce, his lovely wife Nelson, and more.
Diana West: The Death of the Grown-Up
Thanks, Covadonga. Her blog is a great source. Just ordered the book.
She did a very in-depth analysis of the Seth Rich murder as well.

What an interesting little nugget from Mark Simone.
Mitt Romney has 6 hotels in Moscow?
Wow.
Maybe Marriott/Romney cooked it up so there would not be any Trump competition in Russia.
Maybe Marriott/Romney wanted the Old Post Office building that Trump got to renovate….
Maybe Marriott/Romney planned to smear Trump so Romney could run again.
Dead Dirty Dog McCain’s fingerprints are all over this too. Spit.
Hoofprints, as far as I’m concerned. Half human half beast.
I mean Marriott/Romney helped cook it up – of course Ø and H> were ringleaders.
O and H are IDIOTS…… look farther up the chain for the ringleaders
I’m not a Romney fan, but this tweet is quite a stretch.
Romney is one of twelve directors, and the company is still run by a member of the founding Marriott family. Moreover, Marriott had over $20 billion in revenue last year, operates just over 6,900 hotels worldwide. Given this, it is quite a stretch to say that Romney’s position on the board makes Marriott “his company.”
Moreover, those hotels may not even be owned by Marriott. Of the various hotels that have the name of a Marriott owned franchise on them (including, for example, Ritz Carlton or St. Regis or Renaissance) about 2/3 of the hotels are franchises. This means Marriott does not own the hotel, it merely operates the hotel for the owners.
I understood it was Romney’s company who built the hotels, as opposed to Romney merely sitting on a board for Marriott.
In other words, I understood Romney’s company was benefiting from Romney being on the board, as well as, building in Russia.
Got it. In that case, the reference to Marriott is confusing (to me at least). Whereas he may have violated a fiduciary duty he owes to Marriott shareholders by entering into competition with Marriott hotels, a stand-alone “Hey why isn’t anyone excited about Romney owning six hotels in Russia” story would have more clearly raised the double standard issue relative to PDJT.
I’ll be…dipped, or something.
There actually is a Hilton in Hanoi now.
I would have thought the Vietnam War nickname might have scotched that idea.
Terrible:
‘Delaware Senate Approves Compact Giving State’s Electoral College Votes to Winner of Nation’s Popular Vote
http://www.wboc.com/story/40089642/delaware-senate-approves-compact-giving-states-electoral-college-votes-to-winner-of-nations-popular-vote
‘The compact does not go into e[ffect] until enough states sign onto the agreement and pool together an aggregate of at least 270 votes in the electoral college — a majority needed to elect a president. Legislatures in eleven Democratic-leaning states and the District of Columbia have signed onto the agreement, representing 181 votes …
‘The measure offers supporters of deciding presidential elections through the national popular vote a way to circumvent the lengthy and difficult process of seeking an amendment to the United States Constitution.
‘Sen. Dave Lawson voted against joining the compact and said the agreement turns Delaware’s “precious votes” over to mob rule.
‘”That is absolutely neutering our electoral college. They can say they’re not doing it — but it’s one in the same,” he said …’
How will this be challenged??? 😮😞😡😡😡
I do not know, but, somehow, it must be challenged.
This is VERY WRONG.
I follow Legal Insurrection, I keep hoping that this will be addressed by them… :/
Family in CO (where Dims just voted to join) told me last week that there is a grassroots challenge against this. Apparently, at least, a petition effort to put it to the vote of the people in next election.
That is somewhat scary because the people just elected this Dim majority, trifecta government. But at least there is some push back.
Every state needs to get a group together to fight back. It just waltzed through in CO.
Doesn’t the Compact Clause of the Constitution prevent compacts like this without the consent of Congress.
I bet they will have a hard time getting it through the US Senate, where all the little states each have one vote, and are more like to lean Republican than the coastal behemoths like California and New York.
That’s what I thought, but I haven’t a clue anymore.
Too few people are questioning this.
I mean 2 votes for each state, of course.
That brings up an interesting question.
Is it a “Compact of the States” if states simply announce that under certain circumstances, they will enact a law? Delaware hasn’t signed anything with another state; they’ve simply announced that if some number of states (a variable number since they don’t all have the same number of EVs) does something, they’ll do the same thing.
I would be very surprised if these laws aren’t phrased in that way specifically to get around the no compacts clause.
In fact, a lot of states set up their concealed carry reciprocity in a similar manner–I’ll recognize your permits, if you’ll recognize mine. If this EV movement is struck down, then a lot of concealed carry reciprocity will go, too.
Don’t get me wrong: I think this is an awful idea. But I don’t think it’s unconstitutional or that the courts will find it so.
Then again, maybe Mr. Trump will knock the guts out of this movement in 2020…
If he can build the wall, get as many states as possible to get the dead people off the voter rolls, and issue different colored drivers licenses to their non-citizen residents, then he can win the popular vote himself, like he did in 2016 before I went to bed, before the cheating to get Crooked the popular vote began in earnest.
Wouldn’t you love to see the snowflakes melt, if their Commies pink electors had to vote for Trump, because their state voted the Dim, but the nation overall was MAGA, and this monstrosity was in effect?
Trump would kick it like Reagan in 84, and we would never hear about state electors voting according to the national popular vote again.
Fully agree!
IF it ever happens, and IF the results of the election are changed as a result, my guess is that we will have another Bush v Gore case before the Supreme Court.
I don’t think the SC (or any other court) could declare the compact invalid before anyone is actually affected by the compact.
But as usual, the Demokkkrats will “win” regardless of what happens. Even if the SC overturns the illegal result, these lousy creeps will once again have brought chaos and hatred our country.
And also as usual, they will have done so by coercion, forcing Republican electors to vote for the Demokkkrat.
Maybe some scholar will suggest a procedural way to avoid this malicious nonsense before it does any harm.
I certainly hope so.
I can easily see the rest of your scenario, sadly.
i am not going to give my thoughts on this AGAIN as it’s been talked about on this site many times already.
it WILL happen. it is GOING to happen. there is no doubt in my mind.
maine will be joining soon also i have on pretty good info…
when all the non-citizens can vote, when all the fraud we refuse to fight against and stop is spread to every county in america, then that’s how our elections will be decided.
get ready for it. i know it’s just monday, but i do not see a flip back to sanity in this country coming guys. anyone that wants to keep being upbeat and cheerful and thinking good thoughts will help – keep that up, i am not discouraging that – but if there is any surprise in a six or seven months (unless there’s a huge move to take down evil soon) that more states are in on this and that all hoping for a turn around is pretty much lost.
here’s the facts: the OTHER side has people WORLDWIDE working and financing and planning and organizing and raising their awareness and protesting.
the side of freedom and truth is sitting back hoping things will happen, we are reacting to situations after they occur, we are repulsed day after day by NEW things that we couldn’t imagine would even ever happen.
at some point the clock runs out. and even with the hope that q gives some folks – think about this: let’s say it’s all true, and the truth is going to come out. well, first, the other side is going to fight to the death because that’s what they have coming to them. they will also frame this (especially if it’s close to an election) as a dictatorial take down and call for revolution, and on the face of it that would even seem reasonable (think of what you would do if right before an election they took down all your network and groups you support). IF we ever had to get to a point where there is violence and some kind of martial law is enacted that is NOT a good thing. it’s a bridge once you cross we may never come back from. this is the type of thing that maybe fixes something possibly in the near term but will only hasten more censorship, more control, more things like “you have to have this in order to buy food or items” type of society.
i know this sounds weird, but sit back and ponder for a moment. tell me why i am wrong on all of this as i really do spend a lot of time thinking through scenarios as devil’s advocate in my own mind – and without thinking both ways, about both sides desires and plans, you cannot truly begin to see what might happen.
we are in a closing spiral right now, and just like this electoral congress thing – some of us have been following this for literally years and even on this site we have talked about it a half dozen or more times and still people are just hearing about it each time it’s posted. and still people think it’s a slam dunk that it will be immediately overturned and no harm done.
these are your states folks. the extreme evil has control in many many states right now. live birth abortion, giving away electoral votes, etc, NONE of this is on ballots. it’s just the extreme evil sides shoving this legislation down the throats of the people of the state.
and the jokes about HR1 – another evil plan that fits hand in hand with this – to not take that seriously because some dufus named Mitch said he won’t let it on the senate floor…well, i’d get serious about it. and get serious about knowing what it is about.
You’re wrong because Almighty God did not authorize it.
No way would God have put DJT in the WH only to let it be a waste of time (according to your scenario.
I have more faith than that.
I’m with you, andrew.
As I was reading your comment, I was listening to Monday’s edition of the Howie Carr Show (afternoons in Boston, but online):
https://howiecarrshow.com/howiecam/
His regular Monday guest is Bruce Mittman, who is not only in advertising but also owns a group of radio stations.
Bruce is MAGA (as is Howie) but says that the Dems have their rhetoric and anti-Trump push ‘in a death grip’. In other words, the Dems are fighting this to the very end, as andrew says.
Mittman says that the GOP, by and large, does not support Trump.
He also pointed out that no one — GOP or Dem — has done anything close to what President Trump has accomplished: ‘They’ve won elections, that’s it.’
So, yes, I agree with andrew in that we can be as effing positive as we like, but that’s not going to change the doggone reality of today’s Dems.
This IS SERIOUS.
At the very least, consider it a war of rhetoric.
This was OT, but I wanted to mention this here too… re supreme court case that may be in the news..
I was watching Life Liberty and Levin, and he had Lin Wood on as a guest. This is the attorney who has sued WAPO on behalf of Nicholas Sandman, and he will be going after CNN, maybe today or tomorrow. Very interesting interview, btw, but he mentioned a supreme court case that upholds the right of a person to sue the press over defamation etc… Milkovich v. Lorain Journal Co. Obviously you can look it up, but here is a summary: http://www.4lawschool.com/case-briefs/milkovich-v-lorain-journal/
The first amendment does not protect fake news… No it does not…
Be safe peeps…
The SCt held in NYT v. Sullivan that the press can publish slanderous material about a public figure unless the public figure can prove that the press acted with actual malice toward the public official. PDJT has criticized this standard several times in the past, and recently SCt Justice Thomas has questioned its wisdom as well.
The thing that makes the Sandman case so interesting is that this kid was not a public figure, and it is highly unlikely that the law can be stretched to say that a random high school kid from Cincinnati was a public figure because he came to DC and wore a MAGA hat. So you have here a straight up case of the press seeking to argue that they can slander a citizen, and a minor at that, in such a way as to potentially ruin his life before he even gets started, without consequence because of the first amendment.
Personally, I think the Sullivan standard needs to change. As with many of our laws, customs and norms, Sullivan works when dealing with honorable people, but it does not work when traitors pretend to be journalists and hide behind it.
The Sullivan decision deprives public figures of their due rights and enables slander and propaganda.
I agree and I think your point about propaganda is an important one.
I agree the current standard is unfair when someone like Mr. Trump is attacked and libeled in the media by traitors, or even by his political enemies who aren’t working for an actual hostile government or conspiracy.
The flip side is this:
It Sullivan is struck down, every time you go on Twitter or Gab and say something true about Crooked or Bezos or Zucker or Zuckerberg or Jack that they don’t like, you’re going to have to be prepared for a process server to hand you paperwork saying the lawyers of the person you criticized will see you in court.
So except for MAGA people who are well-informed, wealthy, and have a lot of time on their hands, no one will be able to get the truth out about the evil people at the top of the conspiracy to take over our society.
The lawfare will kill it.
Complicated business, folks.

One of the encouraging signs from the past number of months is the fear Pelosi has shown in all her public appearances. She has consistently looked like someone who is terrified of something.
Uh, maybe…

– Nitwit Nan knows she has lost control over Socialists in D-Rat party.

‘Is Personal Responsibility Obsolete?: Part II
‘… In both England and the United States, the massive expansion of the welfare state since the 1960s has been accompanied by a vast expansion in the amount of crime, violence, drug addiction, fatherless children and other signs of social degeneration.
‘Maybe that was just coincidence. But there have been too many coincidences in too many very different times and places where people were relieved from the challenge of survival by windfall gains of one sort or another.
‘In 16th and 17th century Spain — its “golden age” — the windfall gain was gold and silver looted by the ton from Spanish colonies in the Western Hemisphere. This enabled Spain to survive without having to develop the skills, the sciences or the work ethic of other countries in Western Europe.
‘Spain could buy what it wanted from other nations with all the gold and silver taken from its colonies. As a Spaniard of that era proudly put it, “Everyone serves Spain and Spain serves no one.”
‘What this meant in practical terms was that other countries developed the skills, the knowledge, the self-discipline and other forms of human capital that Spain did not have to develop, since it could receive the tangible products of this human capital from other countries.
‘But once the windfall gains from its colonies were gone, Spain became, and remained, one of the poorest countries in Western Europe. Worse, the disdainful attitudes toward productive work that developed during the centuries of Spain’s “golden age” became a negative legacy to future generations, in both Spain itself and in its overseas offshoot societies in Latin America …’
…and worse, those attitudes disdainful towards work were truly deep-seated in the culture, because the Muslim masters had displayed, and percolated down to the Spanish masses, the exact same attitudes during the centuries of Arab rule in Iberia.
In the Islamic case, the attitudes were left over from their own “Golden Age”, when their ancestors had acquired the wealth of the wealthiest provinces in the Roman Empire, without having to work for it, or learn how to produce it.
They had overrun those provinces when the adult working population had been wiped out by a virgin-soil bubonic plague epidemic in the previous generation. The plague had spared the Arab population, because their desert was too dry to support the flea that carried the bacterium.
Thank you for the information, Covadonga — especially the last paragraph.
I learned something new today — much appreciated!
There’s a couple of steps I left out, like the Last Great War of Antiquity — the last war between the Romans and the Persians before the coming of Islam.
—–
Throughout the duration of the Roman Empire the population kept falling. (They had an effective oral contraceptive, sylphium, made from a powerful form of North African fennel.)
By the time Emperor Constantine the Great made the Empire officially Christian, and moved its capital to Byzantium, which he renamed Constantinople, after himself, the total population of the Mediterranean Basin and Western Europe was only a fraction of what it had been during the Julius Caesar’s day, at the end of the Roman Republic.
Whole provinces were abandoned because the Empire simply didn’t have enough people to defend that much area — Dacia (Romania), Britain, and Morocco.
There seems to have been some bounce back in population all around the Empire during the Christian Era, after Constantine’s reforms, but prior to the Plague. There also seems to have been some development of new technologies, and a kind of pre-Renaissance rebirth in art, with new techniques and styles pioneered. This was following centuries of technological loss under the heavy-handed economic regulations, monetary inflation, and population loss of the pre-Christian emperors.
The Romans and Persians cooperated to defend themselves from powerful new tribes invading from the east, but sometimes fought each other in wars in which they invaded whole provinces of the other empire. This was not always done to seize the land, but often to seize the people, and to bring them back in chains, to work the land of the invading empire.
Whole ethnic groups living near the border, who came under suspicion of plotting rebellion, were seized and moved deeper within their respective empire, where it was easier to force them to be loyal.
These wars and movements of people seem to be where the Medieval idea of serfs being bonded to the land first started.
Overall, many ideas and customs that we associate with Dark Age and/or Medieval Europe originated in these wars, or in Persia at this time, or were old Persian traditions that were borrowed into the Roman Empire at this time:
Kings wearing crowns — an old Persian custom.
Kings sharing power with powerful hereditary barons, uniting their respective military forces in time of war — based on the Persian Shahanshah (“King of Kings”) sharing power with his individuals hereditary Shahs, each the ruler of his own individual fiefdom.
Knights in armor riding around on giant armored horses — the first breed of horse big enough to carry an adult on its back was developed after the Bronze Age, which had been known for its chariot cavalry. This breeding was accomplished in Persia.
Centuries later, the first breed of horse large enough for heavy cavalry, with an armored man riding an armored horse, was developed, also in Persia.

After 2 centuries of Christian rule that had started with Constantine, Emperor Justinian came to the throne. He was to be the last powerful Roman emperor of a more-or-less united Empire.
He was known for making himself popular in the capital with bread and circuses for the urban masses.
He also built the Hagia Sophia, the largest and most beautiful church in the world, now a museum and ex-mosque, possibly scheduled to be reconsecrated as a mosque again. He also built many other beautiful churches and religious and government buildings throughout the Empire.
Also, he built major military fortifications throughout the Empire, especially near the Persian border.
He asked a large number of attorneys to convene and standardize the legal framework, which led to the famous Justiniac Code. This is the basis of the Roman Catholic Church’s and the Orthodox Churchs’ Canon Law today, as well as the Code Civil used in France and in many European countries. By way of the French Code Civil, it is the basis for Louisiana’s state legal code.
He fought a major, very damaging and hard-fought war against the Germanic Vandal kingdom, finally kicking the Vandals out of North Africa, and restoring North Africa to the Empire, including Carthage, which had been the wealthiest western province. Then he launched two major wars, extremely damaging, against the Germanic Ostrogoth tribe in Italy, restoring Italy to the Empire, also.
And he started a major war in the East, the second-to-last against the pre-Islamic Persian Empire.
Well, needless to say, all these bread and circuses, religious, civilian, and military construction projects, legal reforms, and, especially, wars, were extremely costly.
Worse, North Africa and Italy, formerly the wealthiest areas of the Western Empire, before being invaded by Germans in the previous century, were temporarily wrecked by the wars to recapture them. So they contributed nothing to the tax base during Justinian’s reign. And there is a hypothesis that in 2 of the 3 wealthiest and most populous parts of the Eastern Empire, Egypt and Syria, (the 3rd being the capital city itself,) the corruption was so bad that is was difficult to get tax revenue to flow onward to Constantinople.
So Justinian financed all this spending by borrowing and by debasing the currency. So much borrowing and debasing, in fact, that he invited financial catastrophe.
In the last few years of Justinian’s reign, just as the monetary chickens were coming home to roost, and inflation and credit collapse were about to destroy the economy totally, ships trading from Egypt around the Horn of Africa inadvertently carried rats, afflicted with African fleas, into the Empire. These fleas in turn were infected with the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which had come from the original Yersinia pestis reservoir in East Africa.
—-
The Black Death was a pandemic that killed from 30% to 60% of Europe’s population in the 14th century, as well as millions in Asia and Africa. The deaths were concentrated in coastal areas vs. inland, in river valleys vs. uplands or dry areas, in urban vs. rural communities, and among active working adults vs. children or the elderly.
It was believed by previous generations of historians, biologists, and medical researchers that the tremendous human cost of the Black Death in Medieval Europe was due to it being a “virgin soil” epidemic. In other words, that it killed so many because neither anyone there at the time, nor their ancestors, had been exposed to the disease before. Therefore, they had developed no biological immunity to it, neither acquired immunity nor inherited immunity.
Research carried out in our day at an ancient mass grave outside Marseille, France, and confirmed in similar ancient mass graves in Germany and elsewhere, has shown that this view is, alas, incorrect. Archeologists discovered there human remains from various times, but a large number of disordered remains from one particular time span. This time proved to be consistent with Late Antiquity i.e. the Christian Era of Antiquity. This discovery indicated that many bodies had been disposed of hastily in the gravesite within a short time span, as in a severe epidemic.
Modern DNA testing of bacterial traces found in the bone marrow of the human skeletons resulted in the unexpected finding that the organism that had afflicted these people was in fact Yersinia pestis, the Black Death killer, but hundreds of years before the Black Death itself. The true Yersinia pestis virgin soil pandemic was finally identified, and it was none other than Justinian’s Plague.
The Black Death of the 14th century had struck a European population that consisted of descendants of survivors of the same bug who had lived in the 6th century. So, theoretically, they had inherited some resistance from those survivors.
—–
The catastrophic pandemic caused by these East African germs nearly destroyed the Empire.
And the terrific effort to recover from the disaster during the generation that followed Justinian was accompanied by a struggle for political leadership of the Empire.
This in turn led to fresh conflict with Persia, then undergoing its own internal struggles, though today only poorly documented.
And from the final war between these two badly damaged empires, was born the Saracenic crisis that, during the crucial century after Justinian, brought about the basic shape of the Mediterranean world that has lasted until today, so utterly different from the Mare Nostrum (lit. “our sea”) known to the Romans in Antiquity.
But those accounts must wait for future chapters…
If you’re already not a history lecturer or teacher, Covadonga, you should be.
You have an amazing way of encapsulating a long ago era and making it come alive.
I know from my visits there that the French Riviera was invaded and/or controlled by various entities including the Saracens, Spain and the Vatican. (Ditto Corsica.) Tourists think the fortresses are quaint or interesting. No, they actually provided an active defence against invaders, mostly the Saracens. The other entities normally won spoils of war or settlements of treaties, but you can explain that much better than I.
Thank you for this information, particularly the parts that deal with the plague.
I hope you have young family members to whom you can convey this important information.
World History, especially Western Civ, is a huge subject, but you have done a superb job of explaining this mostly (sadly) forgotten era.
Thank you again for your time — and for such an informative comment.
Oh, I’m flattered,
Regarding the fortifications, particularly along the European Mediterranean coast, and the islands like Corsica, the Italians speak of, I think it’s spelled ‘encastelmiento’. Lit. ‘encastling’.
This occurred during the period of the Saracenic threat, and had not been necessary during the long period of peaceful Roman rule. And apparently it wasn’t the norm even during the period of barbarian invasions.
But once things literally “went south”, with Saracens sailing up from the south regularly on slave raids, everyone who could moved to high ground, away from the water, and built a castle around himself, to avoid getting snatched. (English ‘raid’ from Arabic غارة, meaning the same thing.)
One of Pirenne’s insights was that the Vikings were smacking northern Europe with slave raids at the same time as the Saracens were doing likewise in southern Europe. And he was aware of archaeological finds in Sweden of lost Viking treasure that included Persian gold coins. So he knew the Vikings were selling northern European slaves to the Saracens.
What he didn’t know was that, in the 80+ years since his death, Middle Eastern coins have continued to turn up in Scandinavia as lost Viking treasure, and there was at least one find with coins dating from 300 years earlier than any of the other coins.
The dating of Persian coins has its own problems, some so severe that they may call into question the accepted timeline for the whole era.
But assuming the professors basically know what they’re doing with the dates, and that the Middle Easterners in question didn’t pay for their slaves with a cache of antique, 300 year old coins, the raids went on a long time, and Emmet Scott suspects were instigated deliberately to keep the northern European Christians off balance, so that they would focus on self defense from Vikings, rather than go to the aid of their southern European coreligionists.
Fascinating. I did not know about the interactions between the Saracens and the Vikings.
Thank you.
He did no such thing. What he did was he legalized Christianity, stopping the persecutions. From that point forward, Christianity was on the same footing as the pagan cults. Constantine favored and promoted Christianity was himself Christian (although he didn’t actually get baptized until shortly before his death), but none of that made the Empire “officially Christian.” (It’s also debated by scholars just how much he actually understood Christianity; he issued coins with pagan deities on them, for instance.)
Theodosius (379-392) made the Roman Empire Christian, even to the extent of banning other religions; it became the only religion approved by the state–at that point, Christianity became the state religion.
Steve,
Thanks for your corrections. I unfortunately glossed over that history inaccurately as I was hurrying on to make other points.
NP. I looked up Justinian’s Plague just to learn some more because it was an aspect of Justinian’s reign I was unfamiliar with.
Stuff I *had* heard: He almost essentially abdicated after riots in Constantinople that killed 30,000; this would have been *before* he reconquered large parts of the west (as you noted).
Pretty amazing individual, actually.
After him I tend to think of the East as the “Byzantine” empire as it was Roman only in name–Latin pretty much dropped out of existence. But that was inevitable; the (old) Roman empire had been split at least twice along the line between “Latin predominant” and “Greek predominant” and of course the half that didn’t fall to the barbarians in the 400s was the “Greek predominant” half. With the West gone, there was no reason to continue using Latin–and they didn’t.
This explains something–it sure seemed like the Byzantine Empire had lost all that territory much too easily.
“They had overrun those provinces when the adult working population had been wiped out by a virgin-soil bubonic plague epidemic in the previous generation. The plague had spared the Arab population, because their desert was too dry to support the flea that carried the bacterium.”
May I ask where this info originated? I tried to find Part 1 of that writing and got seriously sidetracked into literal ancient history!
I’ve got a couple of books just on the Great Plague of the 5th century. The more impressionistic, autodidactic one is called Justinian’s Flea. The other one was more authoritative, by professional specialists in the field. Both are great reads if you’re interested in the topic. Justinian’s Flea is shorter and for a more general audience.
I had all my books on these topics arranged nicely in stacks on the living room floor, by subject and by whether I had read them yet or not. Then my lady recently wanted me to be organized, so she shoved them into boxes based only on their shape, to use the smallest total volume of boxes.
So, in my freshly organized state, I’m afraid I can’t find anything right now. But I’ll look again later for you.
I’ve read a bunch of books on late Roman/”Byzantine” history and culture in the last decade. And I had a solid foundation in regular classical Greco-Roman history for years before that.
I’ve read several books on pre-Islamic Persian history, and some on culture and religion. And a few on the Islamic conquest, and early Islamic period.
Obviously a bunch on the Arabs and Islam of that period. I have to use a forklift for moving the salt whenever I read anything by Muslim historians, especially those covering the early period.
I’ve got 3 books by Emmet Scott that are great, and the first one is probably what you want to start with for anything other than details of the Plague itself. Muhammad and Charlemagne Revisited.
For understanding early Islamic history and culture, Robert Spencer’s Did Muhammad Exist? is invaluable. It is an even more momentous red pill than his other books.
Spencer’s book above came out after his normal-level red pill books on Islam, and after Scott’s MaCR. Scott’s 2nd book, The Impact of Islam, came out after Did Muhammad Exist?
Scott’s 2nd book is about the generations and couple of centuries after the initial conquest by the Saracens. Excellent book, no one could put his books down, and major red pills all around. But it shows the impact of Spencer’s book, because he was forced to change some of his conclusions from his 1st book, based on research in Did Muhammad Exist?
Scott’s 3rd book is closely related, but a red pill in a different direction, presenting evidence that our AD timescale was tampered with for various reasons when it was adopted in the year 1000, to make the time since the fall of the Western Empire, the Plague, and the early Saracenic conquests seem farther back in time than they actually were.
I haven’t accepted this hypothesis yet (called the Phantom Time Hypothesis, or Fantomzeit, I think, in the original German.) Anyway a German computer systems expert who is an amateur art and architecture expert discovered it, but Scott did major new work in it, explaining the motivations for the people in 1000AD who, if the theory is true, screwed with us in a really strange way. There are various other Europeans you can find on the net who accept Fantomzeit, and have found additional evidence for it, aside from what the original German guy found, and what Scott found.
Like I said, I haven’t accepted it yet. Like it took me 6 or 7 months before I accepted Q last month. I’ve studied Fantomzeit for 6 or 7 years and haven’t gotten there yet.
But if Fantomzeit is true, it makes a lot of other things easier to understand, and gives added reasons for Scott’s neo-Pirennist theories. Pirenne being the genius European historian, loved by everyone, who discovered back in the 1920s and 1930s that the destruction of Roman culture was caused by the rise of Islam. His theory was rejected by the universities since at least the 1970s, but Scott and others have revived a new version of it (which I do accept, along with Dr. Bill Warner and others.)
UPDATE: I added more details in a fresh long reply above to churchmouse.

But she’s BROWN and she’s a WOMAN, to it’s OK!
What is so HARD to understand about this? SPECIAL LAWS for SPECIAL PEOPLE!!!
Communist Fake News said so!
I’ve zeroed in on the Orwellian thinking – why Orwell was right about the KEY method of these folks. It is not just possible for them to institute illogical thinking (“war is peace”) – it is NECESSARY. And to get there, they start with “feel-good” lies.
Inequality is equality because “IT FEELS GOOD, MAN!”
You are SPECIAL when you GRANT INEQUALITY!
You are SUPERIOR when you GRANT INEQUALITY!
It is OK to GRANT SUPERIORITY to INFERIORS!

This is the communist logic that was the GOAL of the communists in the 60’s and 70’s, and this is why they KILLED MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
This key breakdown of America COULD NOT HAPPEN as long as minority leaders resisted the idea of special treatment.
when i was a kid i asked repeatedly about why people disliked the homosexual community so much and they just wanted to be left alone to do what they wanted and wanted to work like everyone else, etc, and that they just wanted equal rights like everyone else (always the talking points in the 80’s)
and my mom always used to say “they do not want equal rights – they want special rights”
i never understood it fully until i realized the grand plans behind all these slippery slopes.
And Rep. Ilhan Omar may have married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in order to aid Elmi in obtaining U.S. citizenship. New evidence uncovered by David Steinberg of PJ Media further supports the belief that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was indeed Omar’s brother.

Pity about the typo (‘sytem’).

Most people do.
We’ve got to sharpen up in 2020, though. Otherwise, the Left will say we are morons.

That’s not accurate.

How true, Wolf.
I thought AOC was a barmaid (emph. mine):
The New York Post continues to go after her (good!):
https://nypost.com/2019/03/09/company-founded-by-ocasio-cortez-in-2012-still-owes-1870-in-taxes/
‘ … Brook Avenue Press was set up to “develop and identify stories and literature in urban areas like New York, specifically communities like The Bronx,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a YouTube video posted in October 2011, months before she filed incorporation papers for the company in July 2012.
‘The company relied on cheap office space in a city-subsidized program to help small businesses in The Bronx.
‘Called the Sunshine Bronx Business Incubator, the program was housed in a renovated former printing plant in Hunts Point, where rates for office spaces and tech services in 2012 averaged between $99 for a “virtual office” and $275 per month for local start-ups.
‘Ocasio-Cortez was featured on the city’s website for the incubator, and The National Hispanic Institute named her a social entrepreneur in residence.
‘“You see a huge return on your investment here,” a 22-year-old Ocasio-Cortez told a reporter in July 2012. “People pay $500 an hour for consulting that we get for free by the water cooler.”
‘The tax warrant was issued to Brook Avenue Press at the incubator’s address on Garrison Avenue.
‘But despite her promise to work with “designers, artists and authors that really know the urban story and help develop stories for kids,” The Post could not find any books the publishing house produced.’
I smell $0r0$ – money going to a fake publishing entity to support/enrich our little Anti-American Obstreperous Communist.

You are most welcome, Holley! 🙂
I love this man so much. Thank you POTUS for standing up for me, my family and Jewish friends.
AMEN! Ultimately, he’s standing up for all of us, because he’s standing up for the TRUTH.
The rise of the old SOVIET view of Israel in America, now the official viewpoint of the Dems, is one of the best diagnostics of what has actually happened to us.
IKR??
He is practically the only one stating the blatant truth of the matter.
“dems” did not push back because they want all of this to be memory holed asap… the faster everyone forgets the faster they can get their people back in line.
We cannot let this be memory holed.
It is too important, on multiple levels: historical, social, political.
The NY Post has a short video on what Julius Caesar, Augustus and Nero really looked like, as created by an artist based on busts and presumably written descriptions:
https://nypost.com/3f5a46f4-1817-4b85-b63b-77bc261be16a
Link is a dead end. Let me try this:

Thanks, Tona!
Woah, Nero was really creepy looking, wasn’t he.
And they did a great job on Caesar and Augustus, too!
Very creepy, just as you would expect.
I notice he gave Nero red hair and freckles. Am hoping that such details came from contemporary historians of Nero’s time. (I wouldn’t know.)
Here in the UK, both characteristics are a sore point. Such people really are victims. Talk about minorities? There you go.
In the Twelve Caesars, Suetonius does something I have never seen elsewhere. He describes the lives of each Caesar, and then he describes each one at the closing of his essay on each one.
Here is what he says about Nero. Nero had “spots” and blonde hair (according to this translation):
“He was about the average height, his body marked with spots and malodorous, his hair light blond, his features regular rather than attractive, his eyes blue and somewhat weak, his neck over thick, his belly prominent, and his legs very slender. His health was good, for though indulging in every kind of riotous excess, he was ill but three times in all during the fourteen years of his reign, and even then not enough to give up wine or any of his usual habits. He was utterly shameless in the care of his person and in his dress, always having his hair arranged in tiers of curls, and during the trip to Greece also letting it grow long and hang down behind; and he often appeared in public in a dining-robe with a handkerchief bound about his neck, ungirt and unshod.”
Thank you very much!
My reply was more garbled than usual! I meant to say, Suetonius waits until the closing of each essay on each Caesar before he gives a physical description of their appearance, something I have not seen done elsewhere, but which is oddly quite brilliant. After learning about the details of each man, you finally get to learn what he looked like.
‘something I have not seen done elsewhere, but which is oddly quite brilliant’: Yes, that must be intriguing for the reader.
Hey Tona…did you see that Pres Trump tweeted about DST? He was listening in on our conversation.

“So the Chinese are mining our uranium, to build their bombs to shoot at us?…..
And the kicker, in the chutzpah department, is that Clinton gave an order to destroy all the geological records from all the billions of dollars of prospecting wells that Uncle Sam had drilled since WWII to find uranium all across the western US….
I bet Peking had their guys over here secretly photocopy those records before they were put down the chipper.”
WOW!
I bet that explains the Bundy Ranch fight!!! As well as Harry Reid’s black eye/broken eye socket. Rumor’s were that the Chinese wanted the land for a Solar farm but mining uranium makes a lot more sense.
Also the UN closing down the prospective gold mine near Yellowstone.
There’s probably a WHOLE LOT MORE to the Clinton Chinese/Russian and the Ø/Kerry Iran collusion – Uranium and US Secrets and Favors were dispensed for BIG $$$.
Grrrrrrr.
Hang ’em. If these people helped arm the Chinese communists with nukes, HANG THEM.
Yes.
Early I almost posted the Bundy standoff. Many accounts mention uranium and also gold. Mistrial declared with prejudice.
The same goes for the stand off at Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. Bundy’s son Ammon. Part of what drew that occupation was the Feds constantly harassing the Hammond family (Steven and Dwight). Faced double jeopardy. The latter they completed a sentence and released. Then another judge decided they needed to complete five more years. Corrupt Feds at their finest.
Plenty of reports uranium and gold also on land Hammond’s grazed their cattle.
Levoy Finecum murdered by FBI.
President Trump pardoned the Hammonds. Bundy’s found not guilty resulting from Malheur related trial.
