Regarding “Go Bags”, you have to assess which types of emergency you are likely to be facing. Your Go-Bag for widespread social unrest is likely to be quite different from your Go-Bag for wildfires, or your Go-Bag for earthquake.
The last two are virtually certain to morph into the first.
Just remember – it all slides downhill.
They haven’t for the last 30+ years…..but each new year can bring forth the new and unforeseen….
The second thing about “Go Bags” is who is going? Remember wife, kids, pets, and other kin within the area. Hopefully, some bring their own resources, but you may have a “Go Convoy”.

You really need a destination where you are certain of welcome. You can then work out with that destination possible supply issues even going as far as buying them a shed to store can goods et al.

I mention that for those living in cities. I ALWAYS had a place in the country I could ‘bug-out’ to and be welcome.
Helping build fences, paint barns, muckout stalls, feed, hold mares for breeding… And being an extra pair of hands as needed – guarantees a warm welcome.
For me, it would be to get home, presumably from downtown or somewhere else within a fifteen mile radius assuming the light rail system is not running. It’s doable on foot. I don’t venture too far usually.

That’s at least 5 hours of continuous walking, and even if you were accustomed to walking 10 miles a day, an extra 5 would be a considerable strain.
I wouldn’t have tried to walk 15 miles even when I was a teenager, and I was in great shape! 😁
As I recall DP says she walks nearly daily either outside or on a treadmill. When I trained to walk the Hawaii Marathon (26.2 mi) the longest walk we did was 20 miles and we only did it once. Other training walks were less. I am by no means a race walker either. It was my only marathon but I completed it in a little over 9 hours when I was 45 years old and obese!
Singapore marathon when 39. Jogged first eighteen miles. Last 8.2 jog /walk. 5 hours 45 minutes. Glad I did it. Never again.
At least an hour every day, for more than three miles. If I’m outside, there’s three different routes with grades/hills.
I actually did 28 miles at a jog at 6,000 feet.– a trail in the Tetons. Wish I could do the same now. I used to walk @ 4 minute mile pace but 3 minute mile is the more usual for a fast walk for most people.
When doing a trail in the German mountains, my Ex, the Army guys who were with us and I left the poor German tour-guide in the dust. 😋
Oh did I mention, my first horse was a race horse and would drag me if I didn’t keep up with his walk? He was a major incentive in developing that 4 mile an hour walk!

First off when I bought him, under saddle he had one gait, full on GALLOP.
Second he HATED MEN so you could not get near him.
Oh I forgot to mention he tossed me the first 200 days I rode him. I quit counting when I reached 200 it was just too depressing to continue keeping count.
And yeah I did finally learn how to stay on him and after five years had him trained well enough to take second at a three day event (Olympic trials)
Where you can go often depends on what is wrong with where you are. As an example, you are probably safe from the effects of an earthquake in the San Francisco area if you can just make it to Sacramento (100 miles).

SHTF.
Walking is a last resort. If possible convoy out. Likely load the ATV (4 person) on the trailer and drag it with us. Stash more stuff on the trailer, including fuel.
Have identified several “less travel routes heading east, north and south. ZERO chance this fool will head west.

IF a US trucker strike is called for. The Ram and Jeep will be topped off and NOT used. We’ll very sparingly use vehicles with high MPG. Latter tanks kept at 3/4+, as long as fuel is available. We have decent bicycles.

My neighbor, Art, passed away a few days ago. 92 years old. Used to take his min-pin Zoey out for runs — he’d use his mobility scooter to take her out to the end of the block and race her home.
Just tonight, I found out he was boostered. Two days later, he called his son and said his skin was burning, next day his son discovered him dead.
I wasn’t all that close, but he was a neighborhood fixture — everyone knew him. He received a Catholic burial.
That’s sad. I’m so sorry.

Well, i made mr gil get gas x bc of the severe pain from them putting so much air in. It has helped, so now im getting down to the “real” pain. Still bloated with some pain, esp positional. Cant sit totally upright esp on a firm seat. One wierd thing bothering me is my uvula must’ve been scraped bc its flapping around like loose tissue. Even causing some coughing and slight obstruction. I hope that stops in a day or 2. Mr gil here for 3 more days then i have to do more on my own again. Im sticking to light housekeeping. Going to nap, do crossword puzzles, and watch youtube movies.

Every freakin’ jurisdiction, every insurance policy, every lease, every loan wanted their own number — sometimes based on other numbers, sometimes just pulled from the aether — and they all needed to be rounded-up and reconciled and periodically processed.

Yes, it has been a very long time. I have no idea if the TCS Fixed Assets app was popular as you describe or if that was an entirely different app. TCS was founded by Billy Ladin. He had started ComputerCraft, which was the first Apple retailer. Billy was friends with Steve Jobs and they would go skiing together in Aspen. He was on the Apple board for many years. I remember once Steve made fortune cookies for Billy and his wife Robin. This was all in the good days of micros when one did not need a degree to be a great programmer.

TCS was the company name. Any logo was just the initials when I worked there (1982-1983). CLS (Client Ledger System) was designed by a programmer who was also a CPA. Sorry, I don’t remember his name. We were in Houston TX and TCS was formed by bringing PeachTree Software’s owners, Rich and Barb Stafford, from Atlanta GA. TCS had a database that the Houston company had put the Peachtree software on top of. While I was there, they had a whole line of accounting software. GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, MRP. He later shifted to designing accelerator boards for a little silicon valley startup.I think his database might have even been written in assembly lang and the code for the boards was low-level. Have a way to stay warm. They sell small packs of emergency mylar blankets for under $10 that can easily fit in a backpack without taking up too much space. Those HotHands hand warmers are faily cheap, too, and can be easily tucked into a backpack. They can be used to keep pets warm in an emergency, too.
sadie, true! I kept a very large Iguana functional during a 3-day power outage, with only those HotHands under towels to protect her skin.
While running around, she would lose her charge, and I would just set her back on the towels. v nifty.

Our godkids’ parents had friends who had an iguana named “Fluffy”. It would perch, motionless, on the back of their couch….until people sat down.

A staple for winter driving included extra blankets, candles, matches/lighter, empty coffee can, & smaller can to be able to melt snow for water in an emergency. 🙂

I added plate, cup and utensils without taking up room. A fuel bottle, sleeping bag, wool clothes and food stayed in my car all winter long when I lived in up-state NY along with a 50 lb bag of sand.
That bag of sand got the entire factory out of the parking lot after a semi got stuck in the snow blocking the entire driveway. 😆
Sand or kitty litter AND a good shovel! & perhaps a tow rope 🙂
Tow CHAIN and jumper cables. (a GOOD set… plus knowledge of how to use them. Other wise the battery can explode as it did to Mom & a friend in our driveway.)
I always carry a Chain, Battery Jump Box, Tire inflator and tire plugs/tools

I had a nightmare last night.
In this nightmare, I was at my son’s house in Chapel Hill, talking with him and his wife, my DIL. (Both of them are “fully vaccinated” MD’s. They both got “fully vaccinated” early in 2021. My son already had a bad “breakthrough case” of COVID last August)
In this nightmare, I heard myself saying to my son and DIL the phrase that Dr. Zelenko has used for people who are “vaccinated” — “They are the walking dead.”
I can still, right now, see in my mind’s eye, the look of disbelief on my son’s and DIL’s faces in this nightmare. They “follow the science” and were told to get the shots or be fired.
I can’t say a word to either my son or DIL in real life about the “vaccine” situation and what the SPIKE PROTEIN POISON is very likely, if not undoubtedly, doing to their bodies — I’m already a kind of “pariah” since they know I’m NOT ‘vaccinated”, have no plans to be, and am following FLCCC protocols under the care of an FLCCC doctor.

My husband was an only child no relatives here and I have only my kids. Yes for all of us and I assume many people are in the same situation. I have my weak moments but most of the time it is all in God’s hands.
They made decisions and my kids are adults who have adult children except one is 17. It is a struggle but reality is my husband and I made our choice and the rest of the family made theirs.

How does one let this go? My son is my only child. I have no grandchildren of my own. Yes, I also pray that his life and that of my DIL are spared.
The rest of my birth family are also “fully vaccinated”, from siblings down through great-nephews and great-nieces.
All we can do is rely on God. That’s it. Whether your beautiful son and mine are allowed to live long healthy lives is in God’s hands now, but really, that’s where it always has been.
I think about all the stupid things I did when I was young, all the times MY decisions could have easily resulted in my maiming or death, and realize that I was spared for reasons I don’t fully comprehend.

One might have to repeat many times. We only can let go when we love never in anger. Embrace your child and his choices that is the only way I know how and it is truth for me.

It’s not hard to make but it does take some time to assemble and will need several hours in the oven. The spectacular results are more than worth the wait!

Hints – Medium aged cheddar works best because it won’t ‘break’ like an older cheese and release lots of oil. It also has more flavour than a younger cheddar. Kitchen specialty stores carry a French slicing tool known as a mandolin. It’s a fancy chef tool but easily slices the potatoes into even rounds. Its not absolutely necessary though, a sharp knife works well too!

I love casseroles. Made my egg/veggie version w/ham and cheese crust yesterday. Heating up NOW. 😋 😋🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️
It’s so easy, even with crustless quiche. Just butter the heck out of a pie plate, and it comes right out.
I do an omelet.
Butter the heck out of the pan
Pour in 4 eggs scrambled with a dollop of milk, KCl salt & pepper
Cook until the eggs just set
Add layer of cheese (sharp cheddar or whatever)
Add ~3 to 4 tablespoons of cooked filling: sausage (or crumbled bacon), onions, mushrooms, green peppers
Fold in 1/2 and cook until cheese melts and starts flowing.
Makes a nice quick dinner for 2. I freeze the filling in pre-measured packets using saranwrap on top of Al foil. The packets then get folded, squished flat (so they thaw fast) and put into a freezer bag. For low salt I use 50/50 hot sausage & hamburger.
Seems keto friendly–no gratuitous starch balls (potatoes).
It is. Only carbs are in the onions and milk. you can use a bit of whipping cream and water instead. The water makes the omelet fluffy.
The filling can be anything you wish really.
Yeah and of course SOME carbs are OK.

Just thinking, if you’re making waffles at the same time, whip the cream (but don’t add vanilla) and divide it, with half in the eggs, and half in the waffle dough (maybe even whip the egg whites for the waffles, too)…

What makes waffles puff is the buttermilk. And, actually, the family tells me the better option is buttermilk substitute using milk with lemon juice in it. I just make the batter, since I avoid gluten.
Ingredients
2 cups cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
The buttermilk reacts with the baking powder and baking soda to produce CO² (and warm the planet 🙂 ). Some folks add cream of tarter for even more acid. A number of bakers whip the egg whites to add more air/fluff to the mix (for Belgian waffles; for normal waffles that would be a disaster), but they have to be folded in VERY gently… I’ve also seen sparkling water used (same CO² concept) but I don’t think that’s worth the trouble (read: thin dough, or a seriously mangled recipe)…
Now I can just see the greens trying to put out a “non-animal” waffle for Veganuary… soy/almond/oat “milk”, egg substitute, butter substitute, call it “real”, and serve with fake bacon… the propaganda is thick with them now…

I was just kidding… I’ve already scorched a few stores and online places about their wokeness… PennyMarkt, for instance, has a long-running Transi campaign… haven’t shopped there since then, and their “sister” market, Rewe, has a foto service with last week’s ad having three pictures of a female couple, two brides (hard to miss), and the smallest pic, in soft focus, is that “couple” kissing… talk about woke… the greens are pushing this stuff… almost at the point of “kill a baby, save a tree”… and they’ve even mentioned something like that!

The “MSM recolorization games” are getting really outrageous. The last MSM pictures I saw of these two looked almost nothing like this image. She was darker than George Zimmerman and he looked like “something else”.

The March for Life takes place tomorrow in D.C. An organization called Silent No More has scheduled a mass followed by an interdenominational prayer service, and then they will join the march at noon, which goes to the steps of SCOTUS.

So a quick area update down here in the South of Texas around San Antonio.
Temperatures were predicted to dip as low as 35 degrees this morning (with no snow and little chance for ice, sleet or rain) so most schools in the region announced closures.
Truth is many people have been reporting teachers haven’t been showing up for class anyway and students have been spending lots of time in the auditoriums so hey why not close the schools.
And no, this is not usual. This is a Biden mass formation psychosis thing that primarily effects school teachers other liberal idiots down here and I want my tax money back! 😡
