I used a method from https://askubuntu.com/questions/147800/ripping-dvd-to-iso-accurately — on my system, it came out ” dd if=/dev/cdrom bs=2048 count=2943698 of=/mnt/dvdtest/CADDYSHACK.iso “. Unfortunately, I forgot to include “status=progress”, so it’s just spinning happily away and I won’t know what it did until it’s done.
I do not want to use the dd command on a usual basis, because it is dangerous as all get-out. But we’ll see.
OK, I tried that twice and got read errors on the dvd both times. Hmmmm…..
OTOH, transferring across the network seems to be working fine.
I got two to work and then another fail. It may have to do with region. Hmmmm….

The dd command is used to make image copies between storage units. The name came from the Data Definition statement of IBM’s Job Control Language, and was initially used to convert text from one encoding to another. Back in the mid-1970s, before everything used ASCII, this was important.
Present-day use is mostly to copy images of storage units to and from image files. Such as from a DVD to a disk file. Another common use case is to put downloaded operating system image files onto USB sticks or SD cards, in order to start up a computer (PC or something like a Raspberry Pi).
Like some of the other ancient commands, dd has much of the same safety and utility issues as a sharp knife. Like the knife, which does not know nor care about the different meat in a steak or a finger, dd can copy image data or file contents from anywhere to anywhere else. Including to where there might be something valuable that should not be over-written. For example, if the operating system lives on /dev/sda and the USB stick is /dev/sdb, then telling dd to write to the wrong one of these will be a serious show-stopper.

A couple of further points about dd beyond slowcreekno’s excellent comment.
If you’re trying to really, truly wipe a disk (as in, it used to contain your emails but the Feds are about to seize it), you can overwrite the entire disk with random data several times using dd. That’s effectively what those “wipe, like with a cloth” programs do. This works with data blocks on physical devices at a level below filesystems. It cannot be stated enough, however, that dd will do whatever you tell it to wherever you point it.
One way of telling whether something is an “ancient command” is the length of its name. UNIX (the precursor to Linux) originally started using classic teletype machines (my first school computer used these) —
The blazing speed of this device shows why contemporaneous parts of the operating system use as few letters as possible. That’s why Linux has directories such as “/usr”, “/bin”, “/dev”, “/tmp”, and “/lib” instead of “user”, “/binaries”, “/devices”, “/temporary”, and “/libraries”. You can also guess that “/home” and “/media” were later additions to the structure.
Commands such as “dd”, “ls”, “rm”, “sh”, “cp”, “mv”, “cd”, and “df” are clearly from that era. While “cd”, “ls”, and “df” are relatively harmless, the others tend to have fewer guardrails than expected.

In fact, the abbreviation for the teletype itself is “tty”, and that remains as a general abbreviation (or even synonym) for some kind of console or terminal, throughout. Looking at the output of “ps” (process status, another of the oldies), it shows the processes’ TTY in one of the columns. This is the “controlling terminal” for a process (where its standard input and output go).
And /dev/tty(something) are the device-nodes for various real and virtual serial ports.
The real, wired, serial ports are where the mechanical teletype shown would have been connected. Later terminals with CRTs (cathode-ray tubes, like old TV sets) got the nickname “glass-tty”. We had a mix of these at the college back in the day — most of the regular glass ones ran at 1200 Baud, except for the fancy Tektronix graphical one that ran at 9600 Baud. That was >>> FAST >>> back then.
Device-nodes look a lot like, and is generally treated much the same as, files, except that when we write to them, what is written makes it to the outside, into a disk or onto a terminal, or some such. Likewise, they can be read and will capture whatever is found or coming in on the wires from the outside.
I have to confess that my private nickname for it is “Data Dump” rather than IBM JCL “Data Definition”. You can tell it to dump a million copies of “EIEIO” into a file called “OldMcDonald” and it will just do it. If you give it a device name, it will drop whatever you specify into that device regardless of file system, probably trashing the file system already on that device. You can probably find some insecure NASA.gov node and blast a billion copies of “GFY” into space.
It is famous for hosing people who make typos.

Hey guys, I’d appreciate prayer for 3 situations in my family.
My mom, who turned 84 last month, took a fall earlier this week & broke her upper arm. Thankfully she’s not in much pain w/ the arm in a sling before surgery scheduled tomorrow morning to pin/plate the bone where a part broke off. Hopefully it will be out-patient & if all goes well she might only need a splint/cast for 2 weeks. Dad’s really stepped up to care for her in different ways as both of them deal w/ various aging issues.
Also my cousin’s son Matt is scheduled to receive a live-donor kidney transplant on June 10. He’s been dealing with a debilitating genetic condition for more than a decade & been on dialysis for a while now. He’s kind of an odd duck (as is that whole side of the family) but he loves the Lord & has some musical gifts which he contributes in worship leadership at his small Chicago area church. Please pray for him, his donor, their healing process, & that God would heal some breaches in that family. Matt’s sister is very unwell & has been caught up in those tranny delusions & other evils for like 20 years now.
Finally, my latest granddaughter Finley, about 2 1/2 months old, is being evaluated for possible eye issues. She definitely has vision but has responded atypically to some testing so they are having a referral to a specialist to see if what’s happening can be identified & addressed. Her dad, my oldest son, is taking a wait & see approach about everything…but as a mom of a super complicated special needs child, my heart goes out to my kiddos as they navigate even just the shallows of possible medical complexity.
Thank you for years of prayer ministry for many of my family members. Blessings!

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

The US helped screw up El Salvador and all of Central America by ousting dozens of governments when it suited our interests. These gangs terrorized the small nation for more than a decade. They use torture and dismemberment and even human sacrifice as a matter of course. His inaugural address celebrated the victory and committed to focus on rebuilding the economy now that the multi decade crime problem has been fixed. His is the only solution offered to date that could actually help fix the immigration system of the US. Other countries are flying in to learn what he did and try to replicate it.

Last year, there were two businesses left that went all in for the demons in June. But they were the only two.
Today, I took a stroll around downtown. Despite an influx of new people and new businesses since last year, I saw NO rainbow bullshit whatsoever! Not even on the two from last year.
We are WINNING. It is slow going, but it is happening. People are FED UP, and voting with their wallets. Businesses are noticing.

Yours Truly found more information regarding H5N1 and posted it to Gail’s “Animal Depop” post. Among the items found was the official DHS (yes, DHS) “guidelines” about Avian Influenza. This document, if one is reading correctly, states, that while it is possible to vaccinate bird populations against H5N1, it likely doesn’t work — and, that the recommended method of dealing with infected (or potentially infected) bird populations (for example, at a chicken farm) is simply to kill them all and dispose of the carcasses.
Otherwise know as Depopulation or Stamping Out.

The guy glosses over plastic surgery twice in an attempt to debunk it, when it actually explains a great deal. “This is not plastic surgery, this is not aging.” Really? How do you know, dude?
He doesn’t mention how photos differ in location, lighting, and other characteristics, and how unreliable they are for picking up the kinds of differences he discusses. Also, how people alter them to fool people.

I debunked the left-handed/right-handed idea some time ago. And not just me; you can find evidence all over the internet that JB has always been right-handed, and evidence that the supposed left-handed photo has been reversed. That is even evident in the photo used in the video. Lapel pins and the like are worn on the left side whether one is right- or left-handed. Another strike against this guy’s credibility.

Then he brings up that JB might have a mask on. So which is it: has a different person who resembles JB taken his place, or were all the pics this guy showed at the beginning of the video masks as well? Because he didn’t say anything about masks at that point.
Then he goes into the technology for silicon masks and shows a clip from an Angelina Jolie movie. (Dude, that’s a MOVIE.) Even if the mask looks every bit as real as it does in the movie, she wasn’t impersonating someone those guys knew well, up close and personal, and with conversation, in REAL LIFE.
The guy doesn’t mention any of the things I have brought up a million times.
On the part about Emma Watson, it doesn’t show the person underneath the mask (who looks like Sofia Vergara) presenting herself as Emma. The only thing that shows is that it’s a good mask. Did she BECOME Emma, to people that Emma knows? No, of course not. Did the guy even think of that? No, of course not. It doesn’t fit his narrative.
The guy asks:
Is JB dead? Was he executed, as some people say? (Executed by whom is not mentioned, of course.)
“You’ve already established, if you have discernment, that this is not the same person.” Actually, no. Then, according to him, you have to ask whether it’s a doppelganger or maybe a younger person with a mask on.
Then he asks, “What is the reason? Who’s behind this? The good guys who brought this guy in and he’s being a bad president on the world stage?” (If anyone can think of even one way that benefits our country, our political side, please reveal it. And “the people had to be shown” is not a reasonable answer for the death and destruction that have resulted.)
“Or,” the guy asks, “is it the bad guys who made this switch to trick the world into thinking we still have a real president?” 🚨Why would they make him a dementia patient? No one EVER has an answer for that.
“These are critical questions you have to ask yourself when you discern the world.” But you should never go even one step further and ask the other pertinent questions that this guy is ignoring and that those who are fans of these theories ignore because they aren’t convenient.
Then he brings in religion. “If you have a prayer life….later on, when the antichrist comes, people will get caught up in this, they will take the mark of the beast, they won’t know what to do because they don’t have discernment.”
He says, again, “You have to “elevate yourself to the next level of ‘awakenness’ and discernment.” IOW, you have to see things just as he does, or you’re not aware or discerning. ⬇️
Maybe he is a sincere Christian who thinks he is doing a service, but he is a poster boy for the article I posted the other day on the psychology of people who push these theories.
Wolf has said several times that the other side wants us to get caught up in these things and that these theories and bending of reality could very well be coming from them. Do those who believe this stuff ever consider that you are likely being played? And that it’s not helping, but likely harming the cause?
And once again people will talk about this. It’s probably posted around by the left to make the right look like those damm conspiracy theroist again.
Yes. And I don’t know why people on our side don’t spread known truths:
• The photo supposedly showing a left-handed JB has been reversed and is therefore fake.
• The tattoo photo is fake.
• JB has had quite a bit of plastic surgery.
• There is no documented case of someone wearing a lifelike mask and fooling people into thinking he/she is someone well known to them.
This is what I meant the other day when I said more people don’t speak up. We could fight this disinformation very effectively, but it’s as if people become frozen in place.
