On this day and every day –

God is in Control
. . . and His Grace is Sufficient, so . . .
Keep Looking Up

Hopefully, every Sunday, we can find something here that will build us up a little . . . give us a smile . . . and add some joy or peace, very much needed in all our lives.

“This day is holy to the Lord your God;
do not mourn nor weep.” . . .
“Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet,
and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared;
for this day is holy to our Lord.
Do not sorrow,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Eternity: For Ever and Ever . . .

When the Bible speaks of eternal life, it refers to a gift of God that comes only “through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). This gift is in contrast to the “death” that is the natural result of sin.

The gift of eternal life comes to those who believe in Jesus Christ, who is Himself “the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). The fact that this life is “eternal” indicates that it is perpetual life—it goes on and on and on, with no end.

It is a mistake, however, to view eternal life as simply an unending progression of years. A common New Testament word for “eternal” is aiónios, which carries the idea of quality as well as quantity. In fact, eternal life is not really associated with “years” at all, as it is independent of time. Eternal life can function outside of and beyond time, as well as within time.

For this reason, eternal life can be thought of as something that Christians experience now. Believers don’t have to “wait” for eternal life, because it’s not something that starts when they die. Rather, eternal life begins the moment a person exercises faith in Christ. It is our current possession. John 3:36 says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.” Note that the believer “has” (present tense) this life (the verb is present tense in the Greek, too). We find similar present-tense constructions in John 5:24 and John 6:47. The focus of eternal life is not on our future, but on our current standing in Christ.

The Bible inextricably links eternal life with the Person of Jesus Christ. John 17:3 is an important passage in this regard, as Jesus prays, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Here, Jesus equates “eternal life” with a knowledge of God and of the Son. There is no knowledge of God without the Son, for it is through the Son that the Father reveals Himself to the elect (John 17:6; 14:9).

This life-giving knowledge of the Father and the Son is a true, personal knowledge, not just an academic awareness. There will be some on Judgment Day who had claimed to be followers of Christ but never really had a relationship with Him. To those false professors, Jesus will say, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Matthew 7:23). The apostle Paul made it his goal to know the Lord, and he linked that knowledge to resurrection from the dead: “I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:10–11).

In the New Jerusalem, the apostle John sees a river flowing from “the throne of God and of the Lamb,” and “on each side of the river stood the tree of life. . . . And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:1–2). In Eden, we rebelled against God and were banished from the tree of life (Genesis 3:24). In the end, God graciously restores our access to the tree of life. This access is provided through Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

Right now, every sinner is invited to know Christ and to receive eternal life: “Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life” (Revelation 22:17).

How can you know that you have eternal life? First of all, confess your sin before our holy God. Then accept God’s provision of a Savior on your behalf. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins, and He rose again the third day. Believe this good news; trust the Lord Jesus as your Savior, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9 –10).

John puts it so simply: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:11–12).

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Beautiful!

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Very helpful! The idea of having eternal life NOW – that’s very profound, and really changes my perception of things!

Aubergine

I think we are never really “alive” until we have Jesus. This is one of my favorite praise songs that expresses it perfectly:

TradeBait2

Amen.

Aubergine

🙂

We even sang it in church this morning.

I LOVE this song!! On my playlist 🩷

Great song!!! 😍

Aubergine

It’s one of my very favorites.

Carl first mentioned this in an earlier Sunday sermon, and it struck me the same way, Wolfie. Today’s sermon is even more enlightening and comforting. We are rich beyond measure in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

TradeBait2

Amen.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

It really cleans out an invisible but sticky film of “doubting days” that remains behind, waiting in “low time dimensions” for “proof” – like we have to die to be certain of what we believe now.

Alison

Exactly!! If we choose to invite God and Jesus to be present all day, every day, we are already in their eternal realm. What a joyous realization that has been, and Carl led me to it. 🙏

TradeBait2

Amen.

Here is the rest of the verbiage from those tweets:

This is so important. Stunningly so.

Because of COVID-19, we know who among us is the Gestapo now. We know who and how the media will advocate for extermination. We know which members of the local and state police will arrest citizens for noncompliance. We know who among our neighbors was willing to support internment camps. We know what extremes government will do.

We know these things.

We will not pretend that we do not know!

Camus, quoting Neil Oliver:

@newstart_2024

Neil Oliver: “The Covid experience showed so many people that actually when the single choice of their generation came down the line at them, they were Gestapo. The were ready to don the uniform and kick the doors in. And I think that’s an incredibly difficult realization for people. When the choice was finally there, when we were being sorted, when that sorting of people was going on, so many people went the wrong way. And there’s an enormous reckoning that has to be lived up to and lived through and accepted. And unless and until that happens you people like me are going to keep on banging on and banging on and saying: No. It’s all on record what you did, what you said. And to extent to which Covid was simply used as a tool to open a door to bring in this technological revolution which leads to a digital archipelago, we can see it. It’s plain. It’s evident and clear….

I wonder if he is responding to someone else here, so will post his tweet, just in case.

Gail Combs

The Cabal is well aware of what Neil is saying. THAT is why they are pushing the “Let bygones be bygones and let’s just move on…” Schiff. They want their Sheeple to feel it is OK to say to the people they hurt and insulted “APOLOGIZE??? I am NOT going to apologize…”

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

They know that if society has a collective reckoning of what happened, it will take that much longer until they can try it again.

HA! Sorry, Cabal.

Gail Combs

This is why the Cabal TWISTS the Christian idea of forgiveness BY LEAVING OUT REPENTANCE!

If I punch you in the face and then ask you to ‘forgive me’ KNOWING I am going to punch you in the face AGAIN, I am NOT repentant. AND YOU are an idiot if you fall for the same trick over and over.

This is especially nasty when it happens within families.

It is ALSO why it was so necessary for the Commies/Fabians/oligarchs to infiltrate religions and not just Christianity either.

Religion has been used to control humans for centuries. For example,  ancient Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was also a living god on Earth or the divine intermediary between the gods and Egyptians.

kalbokalbs

No apologies. Never forget. Never forgive.

pgroup2

Forgive we must but that has nothing to do with forgetting [a noxious idea] or justice [which is not revenge].

We’re on a mission and our Messiah says we must forgive our enemies. If forgive means forget, then what is the purpose of Judgment Day?

We are special. We do things ordinary humans cannot do. 😇

TradeBait2

He’s right. Say “no” to all of the deceivers and manipulators. Then live your life in opposition to their efforts and under the Lord’s authority.

Valerie Curren

Amen!

Gail Combs

We can see the awakening happening all over the world. Remember it does not take a MAJORITY, all it takes is a determined minority. Up until now the Cabal had the money and the power and the VOICE. The critical point is the Enemy has LOST COMPLETE CONTROL of communication. AND that has them fighting back viciously.

United Nations Penalizes Criticisms Against Elitist Takeover

[QUOTE]

Story at-a-glance

Coordinated censorship is occurring globallyIn response to the growing truth movement that warns against a totalitarian, tyrannical takeover, the United Nations has now declared war on “conspiracy theories” that suggest world governments are anything but honest and ethical, and have published a comprehensive guide on how to debunk and strike down claims to the contrary. According to the U.N., world events are “not secretly manipulated behind the scenes by powerful forces with negative intent”According to the U.N., a story only qualifies as truthful if “The sources are backed by fact-checking sites” — which we now know are all bought and paid for by the cabal that is conspiring to create a One World Government through a “Great Reset”To stop the spread of “conspiracy theories” about a global technocratic cabal hell-bent on stealing all private wealth and centralizing world governance, UNESCO, the European Commission and the World Jewish Congress have launched a joint Twitter campaign with the hashtag, #ThinkBeforeSharingDocuments obtained by America First Legal (AFL) show the U.S. government colluded with Big Tech to censor on its behalfThe Attorneys General of Missouri and Louisiana have filed a lawsuit against the federal government and have been granted discovery. Several officials from the Biden administration are being subpoenaed, as are several social media companies. The documents obtained by AFL are also being used in this lawsuit. Subsequent to the AFL’s document release, several scientists who were censored by Big Tech at the behest of the federal government have joined the AG’s lawsuit

There’s clear coordination, globally, of censorship. With few exceptions, countries have taken action to criminalize free speech, and they have done so in lockstep with each other. It began in earnest with censorship of theories about the origins of SARS-CoV-2, and grew from there to include anything COVID related.

Still, the truth could not be contained. People started abandoning mainstream media in droves — which have clearly been lying to us on behalf of the globalist cabal — flocking instead to alternative news sources.

In response to the growing truth movement that warns against a technocratic, anti-human takeover, the United Nations has now declared war on “conspiracy theories” that suggest world governments are anything but honest and ethical, and have published a comprehensive guide1 on how to debunk and strike down claims to the contrary….

Here’s the thing with MacGregor and a number of others speaking up today. MacGregor said that Israel would be stopped from its retaliation against Gaza. I disagree with that. I consider what Isreal is doing now is self-defense. Later, MacGregor said that after WWII the US was the only nation not decimated. I thought: remember Pearl Harbor. I know it is far from our mainland, but we lost a lot that day.

cthulhu

We lost over 6,800 over several days just at Iwo Jima. We lost over 20,000 in Normandy. The United States may not have been decimated, but we were bloodied.

RedLegLeader68

Guys!!! He’s talking about the devastation of the country’s infrastructure.

I’m just going with what I see. You decimate populations; you don’t decimate infrastructure….you devastate infrastructure.

Comes from Latin “deci / mate” — “one-tenth / kill”.

Gail Combs

Beat me to it.

Both the EU and the middle east have been BOMBED back into the middle ages.

There Are Still Thousands of Tons of Unexploded Bombs in Germany, Left Over From World War II

More than 70 years after being dropped in Europe, the ordnance is still inflicting harm and mayhem

….Between 1940 and 1945, U.S. and British air forces dropped 2.7 million tons of bombs on Europe, half of that amount on Germany. By the time the Nazi government surrendered, in May 1945, the industrial infrastructure of the Third Reich—railheads, arms factories and oil refineries—had been crippled, and dozens of cities across Germany had been reduced to moonscapes of cinder and ash.

Under Allied occupation, reconstruction began almost immediately. Yet as many as 10 percent of the bombs dropped by Allied aircraft had failed to explode, and as East and West Germany rose from the ruins of the Reich, thousands of tons of unexploded airborne ordnance lay beneath them….

The same has been done in the middle east more recently. This is part of the reason for the migration into the EU.

NBC — U.S. Bombed Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia in 2016

The U.S. dropped 26,171 bombs on seven countries in 2016, according to an analysis by the Council of Foreign Relations.

kalbokalbs

Loss of life, life long injuries, wounds that healed…USA paid a HUGE price.

Was any of the 48 States decimated. Nope. But, USA paid dearly in WWII.

Alaska was actually invaded. But it wasn’t a state back then so your “Nope” answer is correct in fact.

Valerie Curren

My mom’s birthmother was stationed in Alaska during the War, & for some months further after it was “over”. I wonder if she encountered the invasion situation…

pgroup2

Yeah … I heard his comments about Israel and thought … WHOA??? He makes lots of sense except on Israel.

As a comparison, nobody criticized President Shrub when he attacked Afghanistan after 9/11, except he took too long.

Percentagewise, we lost less on 9/11 than Israel did on 10/7. We have no business finding fault with Israel or Bibi. Frankly, we should just shut up.

I’ve laid this out before. Dump everything in their offices (except, of course, actual CP) onto the intertubez. Tell ’em to report to their new offices in Thule.

Somethings not mentioned in the video. Of the two libraries one was Greek the other Latin. Two of the exterior buildings were gymnasiums. There were extensive underground facilities mostly to stoke the furnaces that heated the water.

This was not the largest bath in Rome, but likely the newest. These baths would make great locations to retreat during civil unrest which happened often enough though it’s uncertain if they were ever used in that capacity.

cthulhu

The larger Roman bath was also newer — the Baths of Diocletian. The old Penn Station in New York was inspired by the design of the frigidarium portion.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

If you watched all of that and saw a reference to a dome slightly smaller than the Pantheon’s…well the Pantheon (not to be confused with the Parthenon, in Athens) still exists and it’s an architectural marvel, a 140-foot wide dome set so the top is 140 feet above the floor. It was cast of one piece of concrete and the engineering it took to deal with the stresses of a dome is…impressive. Almost 1850 years old and not in the least ruined. It was saved from the ravages of medieval times by being converted into a church.

Last edited 1 month ago by SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA
Valerie Curren

I watched it all. That info about the Pantheon dome is remarkable. I’m guessing they don’t have any solid idea of how these ancients set such a huge piece of concrete 140 feet above the floor.

Like ancient Roman roads that outlast our crappy roads clearly ancient Roman architecture will outlast many modern edifices

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Actually we have a very good idea how the Pantheon was built. I’ve seen it analyzed from an engineering standpoint.

The dome didn’t need to be raised, it was poured in place. Also other tricks were run to make the concrete near the top lighter than towards the base of the dome

Valerie Curren

Very cool. I think the ancients, by & large, were much smarter than we are now. Entropy & all, which argues against macro evolution, imo.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Uh, no, entropy is NOT an argument against macro evolution. That argument is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of entropy, in that it ignores the fact that the Earth is not a closed system.

https://biologos.org/common-questions/does-thermodynamics-disprove-evolution

I have no idea what this site is (though it appears to be at least somewhat Christian), but this article appears to be correct here and I sure as heck don’t have time now to explain it myself!

Valerie Curren

No prob. I might even be misremembering what entropy is (thinking it is the tendency toward chaos vs order). Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

That’s basically the pop-science rendering of it. But it’s potentially misleading.

The argument runs, in essence, that evolution should result in less “chaos” which would represent a decrease in entropy, so it can’t be true. The problem is entropy must not decrease *in a closed system* and Earth is not a closed system; it has vast amounts of energy pouring into it every second from the Sun. So, in pretty much the same way the inside of a refrigerator can be kept cool, by applying LOTS of energy from the outside, things can live on earth (if this argument were valid, things couldn’t even *live* much less evolve).

The refrigerator, plus its source of energy, put together do show an increase of entropy. This is why you can’t cool your house off by opening the refrigerator door. More heat comes out of the coils on the back than is pulled out of the inside of the refrigerator.

Similarly, the Earth *plus the Sun* show a net increase in entropy (a gigantic one), the Earth by itself (including the parts that are alive) does not. The Sun pays for us to decrease entropy locally, by having its own entropy increase much, much more.

Valerie Curren

TY, most interesting

Valerie Curren

I found your link interesting but not persuasive. This one goes into greater logical & mathematical detail but ends in a rather open-ended manner, allowing the debate to continue 🙂 When you might get the chance, let me know what you think of the analysis presented here:

https://answersingenesis.org/physics/second-law-of-thermodynamics/

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

OK, I read this. I actually *did* try AIG the other day; I know they have a page of, in essence, bad arguments for creationism that one shouldn’t use. (The list is not nearly long enough IMHO.) I wanted to see if this was one of them.

I didn’t find this link the other day.

So after a couple of explanations of entropy, we get to a paragraph that starts with: “Evolutionists have offered various theories of how the naturalistic origin and development of life does not violate the second law of thermodynamics.” And this is where they go off the rails.

“However, merely being an open system does not automatically mean that entropy decreases.”

Who claimed that it automatically does mean that?

“However, these inputs are insufficient in themselves to circumvent the second law of thermodynamics.” Mere assertion.

Discussion of Prigogine. It’s important not to conflate two things. One is evolution, which happens to living things *once they are living things* the other is abiogenesis, which is the question of how things became alive in the first place. Scientists are *very* confident that evolution happens, and yes that includes macro-evolution. Biology as a science would literally make no sense at all without it (it’s not a case of “they’d have to rewrite the narrative,” it’s a case of the mass of facts we know about living things would crumble to a list of unconnected trivia rather than a coherent whole). And obviously abiogenesis happened. We just don’t know how. Huge progress has been made in this, apparently, but we don’t have the final answer, and it’s possible we never will because it might end up being a case of “here are three ways it *could* have happened, but we don’t know which one actually *did* happen…and there might be a fourth way we don’t know about” It’s certainly more than Prigogine’s work. Given the professional YECs’ predilection for fastening onto something that turned out to be untrue in the light of later knowledge, while ignoring other things, I have to wonder why they chose Prigogine as an example. (I personally had never heard of him until now.)

“Again, the appeal is made to the magic of open systems. But merely being an open system in not sufficient to contradict the second law of thermodynamics.”

Uh, it wouldn’t be a contradiction; the law specifically allows for it by stating that entropy must not decrease in a closed system. If it’s not closed, then other outcomes are possible, depending on the circumstances. Sometimes in an open system the entropy will increase, sometimes it won’t, sometimes it will decrease.

They seem to be trying to imply (without coming right out and saying so) that someone is claiming that in an open system, entropy *will* decrease. No one is saying that. They bring up the example of a dead organism decaying as if it’s a counter example to such an (alleged) claim.

“The problem for creationists is that we have yet to generate a rigorously formulated entropy-based hypothesis that clearly shows that life cannot arise through natural undirected processes.”

Indeed.

“However, evolutionists generally have failed to produce a reasonable argument which agrees with observation that the second law of thermodynamics does not prohibit evolution.”

I’m not at all sure what they think would be adequate here. Recognizing that the Earth as a whole is not a closed system, you add in the Sun. The Sun is 99 percent of the Solar System, and its entropy is steadily increasing. That swamps any decrease in entropy in (parts of) the Earth including you and me. That argument is reasonable enough, honestly. They’re just asserting it’s bullshit and haven’t actually backed that up.

There is a very famous debate (readily findable on youtube) between Bill Nye and Ken Ham (the head honcho of AIG). At one point during the questioning, they are asked, what it would take to change their minds. (At 1:49:44)

Ken Ham says NOTHING could change his mind. Bill Nye says, “one piece of evidence,” and lists examples. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kgvhG3AkI)

The simple fact of the matter is, Ken Ham goes into the topic with a belief what the answer *must* be. He *starts* with the conclusion he wants to reach and he, and his organization, will selectively cherry pick and spin to to support that. He’s as bad as any leftist YSM puke with an agenda. In this case, his organization picked *one* paper that made extravagant claims as to its own significance and use it to condemn the entire argument that the second law of thermodynamics is not violated by evolution (or abiogenesis); again all they have when you boil down that article is their own assertion that “yes it does”

Valerie Curren

I appreciate these insights here–TY. I’m about halfway through that link I sent you on oil, about to begin the section “Abiogenesis” & have noted several times where they assert a “young earth” as a fact instead of a reasonably biblically based theory, & there are other biblically based theories out there too. Such statements of “fact” which are in my mind more assertions of opinion appear to weaken the substance of their arguments.

I’m not a throw the baby out with the bath water person but if one wants to present analyses with the appearance of scientific rigor one should be careful to couch the concepts in honest theoretical language, imo. Many people believe in a Creationist world view but they don’t all agree on just How the Creator came to carry out the many intricate acts of creation. We All, on all sides of any given issue, need to guard against our own hubris. There is Always Way More out there that we Do Not Know than the few things that we Think we Know (& wherein we still might be wrong). Those who purport to speak for certain viewpoints would do well to maintain appropriate humility, alongside Biblical AND scientific rigor!

I read a relevant passage of scripture just yesterday 🙂

Ecclesiastes 3: 10-11

10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I have very little beef with *old* Earth creationists. If you posit that the Earth is old (as it, frankly, actually appears to be, very overwhelmingly so, obfuscations to the contrary notwithstanding) and that evolution happened (again, as it actually appears to have done, again, very overwhelmingly so despite obfuscations to the contrary), but then want to insist that God guided/steered the process, that’s a different level of disagreement, than young earth, flood geology, wham-bam-everything-made-at-once. That, I fear, verges on Flat Earther level of dang-near-certain-to-be-wrong.

Valerie Curren

Very interesting. I haven’t looked into it deeply enough but I think that the “flood geology” may have some validity to it. I believe there are some instances of trees preserved having grown through “millions of years” worth of sediments. If the biblical account of a cataclysmic worldwide flood is referring to an historical event, even though the biblical descriptions are somewhat difficult to understand, the amount of sediment stirred up would surely be monumental.

Also there was apparently some flood that happened in recent history, in Texas perhaps, where a smaller version of the Grand Canyon was created in a few days or weeks. I don’t recall the details & I haven’t looked into it but recall it being mentioned somewhere, possibly on this radio show. There is a local Christian radio personality, Bob Dutko, who promotes a young earth creation viewpoint. He has on his website a “top 10 proofs” for various things including this view, iirc.

I think that there is data out there that supports young earth theories, to some degree. There is also data out there that seems to support a much longer timeframe. I think it’s important for truth seekers on the different sides of the discussion to continue to dialogue (respectfully) with each other & to honestly address the “facts” that seem to support their theories as well as the ones that appear to refute them. It’s quite likely that we’ll never arrive at a unifying theory that explains Everything that we observe but we cannot disregard “facts” that appear to be inconvenient to whatever side we feel the greatest affinity for.

Honestly that was one of the reasons that the abiogenesis oil paper which I shared the link with you was frustrating to me in that the author stated “young earth” as a fact instead of a theory. Even evolution, though clearly widely accepted for more than a century now, is technically a theory, even though many refer to it as a fact & claim “consensus” when there are still many dissenting voices, & not just theologically based ones either…

I tend to look at the Bible as a fully truthful document. I also recognize that it was written by people in other times & other places with different languages & vastly different cultures. I happen to believe that it is “the inspired Word of God” but was written by many individual people & their own voices shine through.

Certain passages may be more poetic than others & may best be interpreted figuratively, rather than literally. The biblical account of Creation hovers in that figurative arena, at least to someone like me. As such I take those descriptions with a grain of salt.

One problem I have with a literal interpretation is the continually used phrase, roughly, “and there was evening and there was morning, the (insert sequential number here) day”. I believe this phrase occurs even before the sun was created. If there was yet no sun, what was the basis for evening & morning? Granted “God” would not be bound at all to our terrestrial framework & perspective but since the scriptures were given to Man it would Seem to make sense that they would take into consideration our human perspective…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

“One problem I have with a literal interpretation is the continually used phrase, roughly, “and there was evening and there was morning, the (insert sequential number here) day”. I believe this phrase occurs even before the sun was created.”

There are *old* earth creationists who interpret “yom” (the Hebrew word used here) as some indefinite period of time. Apparently it can be used in the same way as we would say “Back in Washington’s day” where clearly not one sunset-to-sunset day is meant.

Yes, there are people who state that evolution is a “fact” and that is because they believe it to be as likely to be wrong, as for the earth to be flat. Yes, technically one is never exactly 100 percent sure but when you round to the nearest millionth of a percent, *that* turns out to be 100 percent. And similarly for the Earth being old (which it would have to be for evolution to function, but even if evolution were somehow disproved, that wouldn’t mean the Earth is young.

“Theory” is a much stronger word to a scientist than it is in common speech. Scientists talk about the theory of gravitation. the atomic theory, and so on; no one disputes these but they are theories. Actually the fact that it’s pretty solid, is why they call it a theory.

There has in fact been a fair amount of argument in recent decades not about whether evolution happened, but exactly *how* it happens. That should not be confused with doubt over whether it happened at all; again the evidence is simply overwhelming, when not being cherry picked by professional creationists. Who, frankly have turned out to be either grossly stupid/incompetent, or liars every time I’ve looked into a particular individual.

Valerie Curren

This is more food for thought. I’ll get back with you after some sleep & it might not be later Saturday as we’ve got some family stuff going on so I may be too tired…we’ll see. Thx.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

You risk my not noticing notification of the reply in the flood of other things saturday.

So best to wait until Sunday in any case.

Valerie Curren

No problem. If I don’t get to it in the next couple of days then it might be a couple weeks as I plan to head out of town for an extended 4th trip & my internet access will likely be spotty at best…we’ll see 🙂

Valerie Curren

Whoops, I actually had another Ecclesiastes passage I’d meant to share. I’d read it the other day in a Bible upstairs so I Sort Of knew where on the page it was (but was too lazy to actually look before my previous reply), but the one I previously shared with you was found in a different place. This one seems even more apropos to our discussion. Blessings!

Ecclesiastes 8: 16-17

16 When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the labor that is done on earth—people getting no sleep day or night— 17 then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Ecclesiastes is actually my favorite book of the Bible. Of course I am thinking of it as literature rather than Sacred Writ, but it does make some interesting points here and there.

Valerie Curren

It has many universal observations of the human condition that remain quite timeless!

In 1971 Doc Adams had an almost fatal heart attack, things didn’t look good at all, L.A. Doctors said working again was out of the question. But he had two things going for him, Freedom over his body & the Right To Try that President Trump had to give back to Americans & Heart Surgeons that still practiced First Do No Harm over the settled Practice of keeping hospital bed full today.

The Gunsmoke writers burned the midnight oil & Milburn Stone was replaced by Pat Hingle as the town Doctor that was looking more like a permanent replacement.. Milburn Stone was down, but he wasn’t done yet & used his God Given Right to Try a new Experamental Open Heart Surgery where his Doctors got him up out of bed the next day & just 6 weeks latter Pat Hingle was out of a job again. Milburn Stone never missed another Gunsmoke & died 6 years after the Liberals at CBS was finally was able to cancel Gunsmoke in 1975 over Toxic Masculinity that America is in such a desperate need of today..

BOY DOES THAT ROCK IN THE LAST PICTURE LOOK FAMILIAR.

It reminds me of the rock I use to hang out near as a kid in grade school. (In NY)

Valerie Curren

Wow were you so very blessed! That picture makes my heart long for the woods 😍

Gail Combs

Aside from the poison ivy and copperheads… 😋

I can spot poison ivy even in winter now!

….

BTW, I am cutting down brush/small trees in a poison ivy area. I wear overalls, heavy denim shirt & use gloves.

I found washing with straight dawn dish soap (no water added) — scrub good, then add a little 90% Isopropyl alcohol scrub again and finally rinse with COLD water — as soon as I quit works wonders for keeping me from getting a rash.

If I do get a rash, I scrub the area with Technu and then apply 1% hydrocortisone cream.

Back in the day, there was a fark meme about poison ivy.

I don’t know how true it was, and I don’t intend to investigate further, but part of the setup was that urushiol — the oil in poison ivy — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urushiol — was supposedly not actually poisonous. Furthermore, the classic rash/itch reaction was on contact with skin but not mucous membranes. Again, I cannot stress enough that this was setup for the meme and not medical advice.

Anyway, the deal was that you could drink urushiol straight without letting it touch your lips, it wouldn’t be digested, and you’d be fine for a while…..but these moments of calm would soon be over “when the oil reached the anus.”

Valerie Curren

  :wpds_shock:

Gail Combs

IIRC some idiot who was not allergic took a dare and ATE the leaves. He had a rash all the way down to his stomach!

BTW you need to wash the oil off within an hour, so going in washing and taking a drink to keep hydrated is a VERY GOOD IDEA when working in a poison ivy infested area.

mollypitcher5

Dumb dumb

Valerie Curren

That’s amazing! Our son Brandon has gotten into poison ivy several times, each time successively worse. The last time the youth group from church went on some type of missions trip to the Saint Lewis area. They were doing a community outreach project of clearing brush in an historically black cemetery & boy did he get it bad. He must have been wearing shorts for it was up & down both legs, with open weeping sores for a couple weeks. We tried all sorts of stuff but nothing worked well 🙁

Gail Combs

I am VERY allergic and actually had it go systemic where I had a rash over my entire body! I had to be put on steroids to clear it up.

Poison Ivy has an oil that will literally bond to the skin. Since Dawn is great for cutting oil it will work well on FRESH poison ivy oil. Once it has been on the skin for a while and has time to bond to the skin, it takes something like Tecnu to remove the oil. Unfortunately tecnuc is VERY expensive so I only use it once a rash starts to develop.

mollypitcher5

How do you clean the clothes..regular wash in the machine?

Gail Combs

Yes, the oil is soluble in soap and water. I generally put them thru the wash twice before drying.

mollypitcher5

Thanks. I’m really careful around it and definitely don’t have the amount that you do!
Had many a case of it as a kid

Hope it’s not This kind of day for any Q-Treepers 😶

A Weird Encounter
The photographer wrote – “I took this a couple of years ago and was wondering if anyone has seen something similar. I was sitting on the edge of a stream, waiting to photograph water voles, and in the opposite field a pheasant was strutting around, calling and flapping it’s wings (it is late winter when the males start declaring their availability to the ladies!). A barn owl came into the field and started quartering it, hunting for voles. All was well until it flew over the top of the pheasant when it leapt up a brought the barn owl down! The owl wriggled itself free, leaving the pheasant with a beakful of feathers. Probably the most unexpected wildlife encounter I’ve ever had.”

The oldest place on planet Earth is in Venezuela https://gab.com/emoji/1f1fb-1f1ea.svg and it is called Mount Roraima Mount Roraima, in Venezuela https://gab.com/emoji/1f1fb-1f1ea.svghttps://gab.com/emoji/1f92f.svg One of the most beautiful and impressive natural wonders in the worldhttps://gab.com/emoji/1f30e.svghttps://gab.com/emoji/1f49a.svg For more than 500 years, scientists around the world have attempted to decipher the unique geological origin of Mount Roraima, southern Venezuela. In addition to rising almost 3,000 meters above sea level, the mountain has an unnatural morphology, which seems to have been cut with knives due to the precision of its million-year-old angles. This rock formation is the largest of its kind in all of South America and is part of the Pakaraima mountain range. For more than 5 centuries, it has intrigued historians, geologists, and other scientists because it is a mountain without a point. The top of Mount Roraima is completely horizontal and occupies an area of more than 30 square kilometers, surrounded by waterfalls, cliffs, and other rare geographical features in the world. Seen this way, it could be considered an island in the heights. Mount Roraima is home to a great diversity of endemic plant and animal species. Geologists and biologists from around the world estimate that it hides some of the species that science has no record of since there are spaces in the mountain that still remain unexplored. 𝙎𝙪 𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣 𝙚𝙨 𝙪𝙣 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤. It is thought that Mount Roraima was the product of a large earthquake in the past. However, its origin is not certain, since geological features that were created in similar ways do not have that shape. This has led scientists to think that it may be the oldest rock formation on Earth.

Gail Combs

That is why I wanted to spend my retirement touring the US national and state parks.

Now with the illegals camped in those parks it is WAY too dangerous. PLUS we have the farm.

Speaking of the farm. We had the Momma cat show up and have 4 kittens. She disappeared but I heard meowing from under one of the trucks. Hubby and I could not see the cat so we got a young neighbor boy to crawl under and rescue the little black kitten.

Seems Momma cat moved back home to across the street when her owner came home from the hospital. Only she missed taking one of the kittens.

Now they are all united again.

lots of Nazca line images at Wikipoo

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazca_lines

Here’s a quote about the tool mystery you alluded to:

The architectural historians Jean-Pierre and Stella Nair who conducted the first professional field study on the stones of Tiwanaku/Pumapunku conclude:

[…] to obtain the smooth finishes, the perfectly planar faces and exact interior and exterior right angles on the finely dressed stones, they resorted to techniques unknown to the Incas and to us at this time. […] The sharp and precise 90° interior angles observed on various decorative motifs most likely were not made with hammerstones. No matter how fine the hammerstone’s point, it could never produce the crisp right interior angles seen on Tiahuanaco stonework. Comparable cuts in Inca masonry all have rounded interior angles typical of the pounding technique […]. The construction tools of the Tiahuanacans, with perhaps the possible exception of hammerstones, remain essentially unknown and have yet to be discovered.[12]

According to Protzen and Nair, no tools have been excavated or identified that were used in the construction of Tiwanaku.[14] According to the art historian Jessica Joyce Christie, the experiments of Jean-Pierre Protzen and Stella Nair showed that the Tiwanaku artisans may have possessed additional tools which facilitated the creation of exact geometric cuts and forms and of which archeology has no record.[15]

Here is your reminder not to screw around with the French, lol! They are creative, and if they protest, look out!

Need to poop in Paris? You can join Parisians in protesting French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo by defecating in the Seine River before they jump in the water today!

Paris residents are protesting the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and the city’s massive spending on a project to clean the Seine River to make it safe for Olympic swimmers to compete in.

After French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo vowed to take a plunge in the water that has reportedly been unsafe to swim in for a century, Parisians online and on social media formulated a plan to make the politicians “bathe in our sh*t.”

The hashtag #JeChieDansLaSeineLe23Juin, which translates to, “I sh*t in the Seine on June 23,” and a website under the same name have gone viral, with supporters of the protest using it as a rallying cry urging everybody to sh*t in the water.

The website even has a calculator which will tell you what time to poop in the river in order to deliver your package to the capital by noon.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/06/paris-poop-protest-french-president-emmanuel-macron-paris/

The website with the times is totally real:

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

SHOW US HOW

Getting close to God a prolonged process
The first thing we must do is get access
His love letter to us many books long
Holds knowledge that shows how to belong

Instructions are there for daily study
No need for an interpreter or a buddy
Just let the Spirit of God be your guide
He is the counsel that resides inside

Everything you need to know about life
Is detailed and methodical and rife
With history and stories and promises
Situations and sound assurances

What does God expect and want us to do
His commandments will give us a clue
When we have covered and agreed to all
There is one more Jesus gave to recall

The Bible talks about sin and its peril
How we must repent of what is feral
The consequence of sin is surely death
Separation from God for eternity breath

God loves us so much He left us the key
The instructions and protections to be
Holy as He is holy for it we must strive
Each hour of each day we are alive

Show us how, Lord, to be better than best
To be what you need long before we rest
To serve You in any way that You ask
Willingly and ably up to the task

Who confronts legions of demons face to face, who strikes fear into said demons, who commands said demons to leave the tortured, who do the demons obey when told to do something?

Jesus. Mark 5:1-20

The demonically possessed strong man that none could restrain and all feared knew Jesus, fell at his knees, and was healed. He then did what Jesus commanded and witnessed to the people in the Decapolis, an area that contained ten cities comprised primarily of gentiles who lived like the Greeks. It was an area many Christians fled to later during Roman persecution.

Learn more about it here…

https://www.gotquestions.org/Decapolis-in-the-Bible.html

Which leads again to…

II Chronicles 7:14

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
