This will be a layman’s explanation. We all have questions, but we need to understand the answers. Know this, amidst all the chaos of this week, something amazing happened in a laboratory in France…..and… a hospital in New York. Yet, the media is mad as hell about it.
Grab a cup of coffee and let’s run through the particulars. First, we have to pierce the veil of the media narrative.
Beginning two days ago, the President began talking about promising results from studies on the drug Chloroquine, and the generic HydroxyChloroquine, when taken with a Azithromycin (which is a Z-Pack). Immediately, the FDA Commissioner, Stephen Hahn, came out to poo-poo the study and assert his bureaucratic control. In perfect lockstep, MSNBC and CNN accused the President of selling false hope to the American people. The separation between what the MEDIA claimed the President said, and what the FDA Commissioner said, is the source of contention, and where the panic-driven media have staked their claim of “the President is not compassionate”. Yes, it was the source of the argument between Peter Alexander of MSNBC and the President during the WH presser on Friday, March 20, 2020.
Stephen Hahn, the FDA Director is a bureaucrat, and this might be the source of the problem. FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said the agency hoped that drugs already approved for other uses might be safe and effective in treating the novel coronavirus, and he encouraged doctors to consider the FDA’s “compassionate use” process to treat patients with experimental products. (President Trump compared “compassionate use” to “Right to Try” to explain it to the public, but Hahn didn’t like the comparison, thus the media assumed the President was ignorant.) Hahn hung his hat on the technical: The key difference between “Right to Try” and FDA’s compassionate use is that doctors, patients and drug companies that participate don’t need to get the FDA to approve the individual course of treatment. (In other words, in one situation Hahn’s FDA would be involved and in another case the FDA would not be involved…… again it’s all about Hahn and makes no difference to the public)
“The FDA didn’t reply to questions about Trump’s comments that potential treatments would be made available “almost immediately” or how data collected in foreign countries might inform the FDA’s decisions.” (Thus the MSM took this as a cue to dismiss the French study, the entire article barely mentions it) (We learned later, from congressman Mark Green, who is a former Army Flight Surgeon, and been briefed in a classified setting on Coronavirus, the medications will be given to those infected in the USA and data collected for further study, according to his interview linked below).
Trump gave an optimistic timeline for … remdesivir, an experimental HIV and antiviral drug that has not yet been approved by the FDA, and hydroxychloroquine, a drug approved to treat malaria and arthritis. Here are Trump’s exact words: “Clinical trials are already underway for many new therapies, and we are working on scaling these to allow many more Americans to access different drugs that have shown good progress,” Trump said.
But Hahn suggested that both products would only be available through some of the FDA’s current protocols until they were formally approved. (In other words, I am the bureaucrat in charge of the process and I own the process). Yes, Hydroxychloroquine is approved in the USA but not for this new disease. Hahn ….hoped clinical trials would be pursued to find out if hydroxychloroquine is effective. (Which does NOT necessarily mean he is ignoring the foreign data) In fact, from Hahn, buried later in the article: “If treatments that are known to be safe in Europe, Japan or other nations are effective against the virus, we’ll use that information to protect the health and safety of the American people,” he said.
Hahn talked about convalescing plasma (taking samples from those recovered to help those afflicted) and …. hoped these tools might provide relief for COVID-19 patients and provide a bridge for three to six months before anything is officially approved. (Again, Hahn exercising his bureaucratic control over the process and running up against a President who works in “Trump Time”.)
Trump said hydroxychloroquine “has shown very encouraging early results” in treating COVID-19 and that his administration would “make that drug available almost immediately.” Trump also talked to the Governors about the drug on Wednesday night. Yet Hahn wouldn’t commit to any timing for when hydroxychloroquine would be approved for treating COVID-19 or made available for that purpose. He said he wanted a clinical trial, which typically takes years. Yet, from Laura Ingraham, we see: Lenox Hill in New York among many hospitals already using Hydroxychloroquine with very promising results. One patient was described as “Lazarus” who was seriously ill from Covid-19, already released.
From FDA Commisioner Hahn again: “We want to be sure this is done well and right ….” Hahn said. Because it’s a drug that has been around for a long time, he said, “We do have a lot of information about the side effects of the drug, …helps in terms of expediting it.” But while he said that “we are working as quickly as we can,” he wouldn’t speculate on a timeline. (Um, we’re already using it in the USA, we’re not waiting on Hahn)
Hyper-Partisan again: Some of the president’s critics said the remarks were confusing and betrayed a lack of knowledge about how medicines come to market. “At the White House press conference today, President Donald Trump continued to spew misleading, overly optimistic and often incoherent statements about potential treatments for the coronavirus that may be on the horizon,” Michael Carome, health research group director at the liberal consumer advocacy group Public Citizen,….. (So glad to have the opinion of a hack – Can we imagine by this time, given a global pandemic and the pressure of an economic disaster, the President understands the process entirely?) Plus…… (Later we learned, Dr Rigano, co-author of the French study claims President Trump “has slashed more red tape at the FDA than any other President in history” – repudiating, with first hand knowledge, the claims of the President’s critics)

Therefore, we can see the media attempts to tear apart the President’s efforts, paint the Trump Admin as inept, and question his personal intelligence and judgement. It’s a political effort…. during a global pandemic, and intentionally misleads the public.
So………… what is the real story about a possible prophylactic or therapeutic or cure for the virus plaguing the world? Well, once the media/bureaucrats are out of the way, it looks good. Very good.
We heard about the study in France, with 40/40 positive results: Dr. Gregory Rigano, Advisor to Stanford Medial School and co-author of the study.
“Well controlled, peer-reviewed study” (Dr Fauchi claimed from the podium today this was NOT a peer-reviewed study and the media seized on this point) carried out by eminent infectious disease control expert, Dr. Didier Raoult, MD, PhD, Southern France, in which he enrolled 40 patients with a 100% recovery rate.

When all else fails, use common sense. Notice the patterns and slice through the double-speak of medically-specific definitions. Here is a good explanation – 6 minutes.
We know Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine are malaria drugs. With 3 million Chloroquine tablets coming to the USA from Germany, 6 million Hydroxychloroquine tablets coming from Israel, 130 million donated from Novartis for worldwide use, …. Does anyone really think we are expecting a malaria outbreak in the USA? And would the President of the USA request such an emergency shipment, work 24/7 to gather that much material across the globe, for a potential malaria outbreak, when people are dying from COVID-19?
No, of course not.
All actions indicate the President and his team are trying to stop Americans (and the rest of the world) from dying and pulling every trigger they can find, slashing bureaucratic red tape, to do so. They need to get the media out of the way or the media needs to communicate clearly with the public….. and we sure as heck need to get the bureaucrats up to speed.
Fauchi, from the podium on March 20th, tried to explain to the media, paraphrasing, “We’re trying to make these medications available to the American people, while collecting information for the protocols required/desired by FDA”….. which would be the results of Chloroquine+ZPacks…… given to American patients….. which is already happening. I believe the Univ of Michigan will assemble results of 1500 patients for further analysis, but do not have a hard source. Most of us understand what Fauchi is trying to do here, but the media ignored it, focusing on the argument between Peter Alexander and the President, which was, in context, centered on this very issue….. and the media carried the headline of a US President which did not care about the people into the weekend.
In fact, if this works, we could be going back to work fairly quickly. Dr. OZ, familiar to most Americans, was ecstatic by these studies on Friday, March 20th. By Saturday March 21st, 8:15am Eastern, FOX and Friends, Dr. Chris Martenson, toxicologist, also explained results in these small studies, “Most promising thing we’ve seen thus far” and “pretty dramatic results”. And Dr. Martenson clearly explained what the President, Dr. Fauchi, and FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn should have stated in a more clear way, “We’re going to be holding live trials”. In other words, we will closely monitor patients who receive these medications, but the USA is not waiting around.
It is as though the left would rather NOT have a “cure” or a “therapeutic” for the virus if Trump succeeds. The MSM media blue-check marks were furious and dismissive. The twitter mob was angry today about good news, and threw insults with ZERO knowledge about the study from France, Australia, or China. Sad.

The SARS virus, Coronavirus is SARS-2, could have been eradicated back in 2005. I would post links but I don’t think I am allowed to. It is a story that will eventually come out. The proof exists on the National Institute of Health website. Just search for “Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread.” The government knew, and did nothing. The CDC could have had a cure ready to go.

Everyone should be able to cut or braid hair — people should want to be certified beauticians to be able to advertise this.
For those of us of a certain age, we remember seeing a little sticker on the back of a toaster saying that Underwriters’ Laboratories had examined it and it met their standards — the chassis was grounded, the plug was polarized, there was a fuse that didn’t allow 15A of 110V to go through anyone messing with the unit…..somebody else could sell a toaster that didn’t have the sticker, but you assumed some risk in buying one. And, BTW, if the toaster without a sticker fried someone, they’d probably be cleaned-out and closed by the product liability lawsuit.
That the FDA can stand athwart a pandemic response and shout, “STOP!” is an out-and-out abomination. People will die because they are bureaucrats. And they’re insisting on being bureaucrats even now.
And, BTW, if they merely provided a sticker on a box of drugs to show it had been inspected and tested….why would they have to be Federal? Why would they even have to be State? If their inspection and testing were worth more than a bucket of warm p**s, drug manufacturers would be clamoring to have the inspecting done ON THEIR OWN NICKEL. There might be two different agencies — one that certifies the drug is safe, and the other that tests its effectiveness. Why allow it to be at the whim of Congress, who can obviously be bought off by the Chinese?

1. with hotter climates – The least prevalent cases are in the Tropical and Sub-tropical regions of the World – this includes India, which up to yesterday or the day before, only had 340 cases in a population of 1.2billion
2. with the prevalence of many tropical infectious diseases effecting people, who live in these regions, resulting in a high rate of natural immunity.
Anti-malaria drugs are administered a lot, but a large group never or very occasionally use it, firstly because the medical infrastructure is often very poor and secondly many regions, especially sub-tropical regions, very rarely are effected by malaria.

Great post, Daughn. The FDA guy pissed me off on Thursday with his “we need to determine right drug(s) with right dosage given at the right time,” That is pure BS!!! Other countries are already using it and there are already known prolphylactic dosages for malaria as well as the dosages in treatments they are using in other countries.
Time is of the essence. Just start with the minimum known dosage and go from there! See what works. It is proven safe (with side effects), so just try different doses – I’m sure there are plenty of willing patients to be guinea pigs.
The FDA is mischaracterizing their testing requirements. Once a drug has successfully been through Phase 1 trials (the safety trial) and a Phase Two trial (efficacy for a specific treatment), it is NOT required to go through additional Phase Two trials to be used for what are known as off-label treatments. That is bureaucratic horse-pucky.
I know this because there is a drug called Avastin, which was approved (both phases) as a treatment for prostate cancer. Some researchers/doctors discovered that it can also be used effectively (in some patients) to treat macular degeneration. The use pertaining to Mac Degeneration has never been through a Phase Two efficacy
trial; it is merely deemed an off-label use of the drug, not officially approved by the FDA., but wholeheartedly recommended by retina specialists.
I have several other examples besides that one of medicines I take that are off-label for the purpose I use them, but they work.
That is exactly what the hydrochloroquine (sp) would be for treatment of China Virus – it would be considered an off-label treatment not requiring the blessing of the FDA. The doctors, researchers & insurance companies would make the decisions about dosage, use, etc.
I hope Trump and his trusted team (not FDA or CDC) will demand this be put into practice as soon as possible. They can start at one hospital and chart effectiveness or even several hospitals in different locations. We are NOT starting from scratch, and this really should be ready to roll out with little delay, and heavy input from proper experts.

In other words, if I can’t explain why somebody else’s “wrongness is right”, I haven’t really explained it.
I have to explain WHY it looked to THEM like something was true. And it has to be a believable, compelling explanation.

Even if my memory is sketchy and I don’t remember everything I was doing and how it all worked together, my internal hunch is a very important part of the puzzle. When I come alongside someone to help them work out a mystery in their lives, they nearly always already know where they need to go. They just haven’t figured out the details of how to get there.

They may not have the scientific background, they may not have the right words but they KNOW their lines and they are keen observers. All I did was take their observations and add the scientific background to it. But it ALWAYS started with the observations of the guys on the floor.
Often their theories were incorrect but their OBSERVATIONS were spot on.
The ability to listen is a priceless gift.

hydroxychloroquine and the other quinine drugs work in part by raising the endosomal pH. This C19 requires a low endosomal pH and I’d guess that there are other viruses that also require a low, acid, pH.
We’ve been taking, also, about baking soda, how that’s also antiviral, and raises blood pH.
I’m looking at those links, there are a lot of them, and maybe someone else would want to look at them, find something that I don’t find.

Here is a possible partial explanation for the synergistic effect of azithromycin. It is based on my experiences post-ChiCom-19, and became apparent to me today by the SARS (respiratory) shortness of breath symptom.
Note that this is “anecdotal”, as they say.
This symptom seemed to slowly go away after I “recovered” in early February, having contracted “coronavirus X” in mid-January, with a 5 day incubation period until symptomatic. The shortness of breath lingered after recovery (clinically determined), but it lessened quite a bit. I was, about a week ago, thinking it was almost GONE. I was even so joyous as to start questioning whether I had any residual effects – whether I might have even recovered completely. It made me think that maybe I never even had “it”. Yeah, the mind plays tricks.
I had been pretty well quarantined lately. I would get up in the morning with 100% clear sinuses – no sniffles – nothing – because my wife and I were basically on 100% lockdown. No stores, not public except dog walking – very strong social distancing. It’s very weird when viruses are GONE from one’s respiratory life. It felt GREAT.
But then I went to the store a couple of times. Got gas without gloves. Did some things, maybe a couple of days ago. I had a sniffle. A brief soreness in my throat that disappeared. Very likely just another rhinovirus, which I typically kick in HOURS, as I did this time.
The thing is, this kicked up some mucus and sinus drainage, some of which settled in my lungs.
SHORTNESS OF BREATH CAME BACK. Enough to be noticeable. So, in essence, ChiCom-19, now gone, was interacting with another organism.
That was when I thought about what azithromycin might be doing.
I suspect that ChiCom-19 itself is synergistic with other organisms – that their different kinds of infection and sputum support each other. This explains why pathologists have stated that the damage of ChiCom-19 resembles the damage of both coronaviruses AND HIV. The functional hydridization of the spike proteins of the coronavirus has added not only HIV-like molecular mechanisms of cell entry, but likewise HIV-like molecular damage, appearing at a larger scale in HIV-like physical properties of the infection – including the ability to environmentally synergize with other agents. ChiCom-19 now has the immunocompromising and “multitude of infections” properties of HIV.
Thus, ANY kind of broad-spectrum killers or combinations of killers which work against OTHER AGENTS will synergize with whatever works against ChiCom-19 itself. Indeed, it may be that this is starting to explain everything – including why anti-HIV agents works so well against ChiCom-19.
STERILIZE THE LUNG – all species, viral and otherwise – so they can’t help each other.
So back to my case. What I have is DAMAGE that can now become significant due to sputum from other organisms, bringing back the SARS issue. ChiCom-19 has fled the scene, but its damage still “synergizes” with other organisms, later in time.

Sounds like you may have been left with a touch of bronchitis, after your bouts with these viruses.
An inhaler can open up those swelled passages in your lungs and give you instant relief from that shortness-of-breath sensation.
After I had a bout of pneumonia…it left me with occasional bronchitis.
And also an allergy to mold spores, which triggers the bronchitis.
If you don’t keep those breathing passages open and clear of mucus, you can develop a lung infection.
So…I hope you’ll try using an inhaler.
The weirdness of this stuff is that my sinuses, my breathing, and my lungs feel GREAT – I mean CLEAR like you would not believe. Absolutely no obstruction. I feel nothing like “clogged up”. I feel the OPPOSITE – like some commercial for fresh air, breathe it in, blah blah blah.
And yet I’m short of breath. It feels EXACTLY like high altitude in the mountains. It feels like I’m at 7000 feet in the Rockies.
Hope to get some professional advice soon. I think an inhaler may be exactly what I need. Top question on my list!
I second Wheatie’s suggestion. I usually get serious bronchitis every winter, and got a prescribed inhaler to relieve the air passages (soreness with so much coughing, in my case) so I started preparing early this year. I still had another refill for the inhaler so went ahead and renewed it…thinking it might be tough to get in for an appointment later.
Fortunately, so far I’ve avoided the bronchitis but I have a chronic deep cough apparently from allergies and/or drainage. So, I have the inhaler on my night stand and it certainly does provide relief.
And, if any of you have a CVS with a Minute Clinic within it…it’s a great way to bypass trying to get a doctor appointment. They are staffed with Nurse Practitioners and can do basic assessments, write prescriptions, and order tests. Your insurance pays for it. You can go online to schedule an appointment and most of the time can get in the same day without any difficulties. Not sure how the current virus situation is effecting it.
Flush your sinuses. After any infection the lungs and sinuses can remain a bit over sensitive. Clean them out. There are bottles to do it
Using a Navage is a great way to go to accomplish that. Highly recommend anytime you need sinuses cleaned.
I’m finding that getting over what I’ve had for the last 17 days, nasal irrigation, 4x a day or more, is what is making the difference. I think what is coming out of my lungs is actually drainage from the head. Get rid of the head snot, and VIOLA! coughing lessens.
You’re on right track, DPat. Your experience and cleansing method is exactly what finally cures us when ill. The drainage starts with sinuses. Cleanse those to keep it from draining into lungs, where it becomes the ugly expectorant.
That is why we also use daily nasal squirts (saline solution) even when we aren’t sick. Especially pollen season and winter indoor allergies.

I’ve been following medications and dosages ever since my son’s first WPW episode and following issues, and normal dosages for most meds is in the 10s to perhaps (max) hundreds of milligrams. Bisoprolol, Enalapril, etc. – 2.5 to 20 MG, as in one ONE-HUNDREDTH of TWO GRAMS…
The YSM/MCM have as little grasp of medical magnitudes as they do of Gore-Bull “warming”.

I’m more worried about the Azith, but for most people it won’t be a problem. Just that some people with only 5-20% residual hearing should be careful (as with everything – there’s always some sort of tradeoff)…

As an example, my son takes 1.25 mg of Bisoprolol per day, and 5 mg (2x 2.5 mg) per day of Enalapril (similar to Captopril).
2 grams of Biso would be 1600 times his daily dosage, and 2 grams of Enalapril would be 400 times his daily dosage.
Other heart, BP, etc. meds are dosed in the same range.

I must beg to differ. Each drug has its own dosage range. Trying to compare one to another is comparing apples and cauliflower. They have NO relationship. In the case of chloroquine 2 grams would be only 4 tablets! See below.

The only things effectively dosed in grams are the horse-pill-sized Mega-Vitamin C tablets, and IIRC, they only were up to 1 gram, i.e. 1000 mg.

I think I need to clarify things a little. Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are NOT the same drug. The chemical structure is very similar–a hydroxy group was added to chloroquine to make hydroxychloroquine. The dosing is also different for both drugs. Chloroquine phosphate comes in 500 mg (=0.5 grams) tablets while hydroxychloroquine comes in 200 mg tablets so it is important to not confuse the two drugs.

This whole exercise might be President Trump’s way of neutering the pharmaceuticals and their FDA and CDC all at the same time. It’s sad that people are dying in the process, but this bioweapon, I believe, has been turned to boom-a-rang on the Pharmaceutical companies.

I’m seeing here from the BUREAUCRATS the same sort of thing that happens every time a study from overseas surfaces that indicates prolonged and tight bra wearing causes breast cancer. They don’t analyze the studies, and ask questions on the self-reporting that happens because those specific studies are not drug trials. They SHOUT THEM DOWN.
NO! IT ISN’T POSSIBLE! AND THAT’S THE END OF IT!
And that’s despite multiple studies overseas – just like the malaria drugs papers and studies that are coming out of developed nations right now – that show the EXACT same results a 30-year old anthropological study of tens of thousands of women. Yes, wearing a bra more than 12 hours a day SIGNIFICANTLY compresses the flow of lymph and increases risk of developing some forms of the disease. BUT – and this is a big thing – if women knew that, and could take control of their health with just one simple act, it would cost the pharmas a fortune.
We’re dealing with the same sort of smokescreen cover-up.
Leaving aside the breast cancer thing (for now, because this is a BIG LIE the FDA, CDC and the AMA are complicit in maintaining), notice how Fauci, Hahn, and Dr. B with the fabulous pashmina collection try to sidestep everything. They don’t want to have to admit that if we just accepted results from other parts of the world, we’ll solve the problem in no time.
Frankly, they don’t want to do the studies on the fly and have a cheap solution. They want to drag this out as long as possible.
They want to bury the simple solution just like was done with Multiple Sclerosis and the Italian surgeon who discovered that all MS patients have the exact same group of clogged veins in the brain. He cleaned out the clogs, and the brain lesions disappeared. He was reporting a 90-100% success rate at reversing the disease depending on how far advanced it was, and NO ONE, not one physician in the US, would even attempt to replicate his reported results.
Why?
It will cost the pharmaceutical makers a fortune.
And if there is a simple cure, why would we need a vaccine?
Same thing is happening here with the messaging and the president is turning it on its head with his swift and calculated actions.
And as a bonus, VSGPOTUSDJT is exposing their FDA for the farce it is for anyone who cares to look and pay attention. There’s still a lot of brand loyalty and trust built into the FDA and the CDC. If THAT can be destroyed with this fiasco, it will be a triumph.

1. I noted on one of the replies about “shedding the virus” and the ability of HydroxyCQ and ZPack cost to pharma is about $15 each patient —- which made pharma sad.
2. We ALL know CDC is the screw up on “testing” and organization, not built to handle a big surge, and stacked with bureaucrats. Hence, Dr Nancy Messonnier, Rosey’s sister. Can you imagine the look on Potus’ face when he heard the news? OMH
3. Another sidenote about the FDA from yesterday. It was a comment from a casual observer, paraphrasing, “Damn, President Trump has the FDA working on Trump time”.
4. All the talk about rebuilding a system to handle massive testing, the 3 weeks of failure of the CDC, bringing in Pence to oversee the Task Force. It as a major shift.
5. And most of all, the last block Trump put into place, putting FEMA in charge of the response, bolsters DEP’s observance of the Trump Admin doing an end run around the CDC and FDA to get results much faster.
I only wear the Japanese slingshot when out of the house or if we have company. Someday, I’ll pull out a piece I wrote years ago on the topic. I can’t image BC is the only disease that is being handled this way.

Yes. Those are considered to be worse. The theory that no one will test is that the band blocks the flow of lymph and the drainage that happens under the arms. It makes sense when you think about it.

There’s always a few that will go rogue. Per my breast cancer post above, for other breast issues, physicians have been known to say “take off your bra” to women behind a hand.
