It’s curious that SD is calling the AZ revelations into question.
I realize the circumstances sound sketchy, i.e., investigator/attorney (Thaler) discovers his wife is central to statewide corruption involving every level of gov’t and a drug cartel. Thaler is also involved in a child custody battle with (the now ex-wife) Mrs. Kingpin.
HOWEVER:
Criminal organizations don’t associate with a lot of good people, so any insight to the internal machinations is normally going to involve some shady people. If Thaler is for real, it’s hard to believe his wife was involved to the extent claimed, under his nose, until he discovered her role as a result of an investigation on behalf of someone else (if I understood correctly). There is almost certainly more to the story, maybe the background story is contrived in order to protect a source, etc., but if he has the evidence and it holds up under scrutiny, that matters more than the circumstances surrounding how he came across it.
The massive corruption in AZ is undeniable, and whatever the truth is, it has to be something similar in scale and magnitude to what Thaler is alleging.
Because what other credible hypothetical scenario could explain how AZ is practically a rogue state, that doesn’t involve more or less the same people (i.e., gov’t and police and judges), and huge amounts of cash coming from somewhere?
Whatever has gone so wrong in AZ would have to involve a lot of state and local gov’t people at every level, including police and judges.
What is the most obvious source of massive amounts of illicit money, in proximity to AZ?
Proximity to the border provides means, motive and opportunity for massive bribery, which is standard operating procedure on the other side of the border, so it’s not like anyone is having to reinvent the wheel.
It would also explain border policy, both in AZ and 10% Joe.
Granted, I want to believe, but in a scenario like this, that’s always going to be the case. It’s not something out of the blue like an allegation of child molestation by some celebrity, there’s obviously something seriously wrong in AZ.
The crimes alleged by Thaler would answer a whole lot of questions — questions whose answers necessarily involve corruption on a large scale.
It just reminded me of John 7:31, “And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?” (KJV)
The analogy being that whatever the truth about AZ corruption turns out to be, will it (can it?) be substantially different than what Thaler is claiming?
Thaler’s allegations fit the scenario.
If Thaler is a plant, to make allegations which are then proven false in order to provide cover for the real corruption in AZ, that would seem to be getting too cute by half (and half again).
I mean, there’s chutzpah, and then there’s just begging for trouble. Thaler’s allegations, if part of a ruse, are going to bring so much scrutiny to AZ that the criminals would be taking a huge and unnecessary risk that the real corruption would be exposed as a result of the ruse.
There is definitely something rotten in Denmark, and Hobbs is central to it.
If what Thaler is claiming is not what Hobbs (and many, many others) are wrapped up in, then what other hypothetical scenario could explain what Thaler’s claims appear to explain so well?
The other side of the coin is that if Thaler (and what would turn out to be his co-conspirators) has made all of this up, in order to win a child custody case, he and everyone who aided and abetted such an attack on the system that — if he’s just making it up — he and his team would have to be suicidal.
Extraordinary claims, such as Thaler has made, will draw so much scrutiny (from all sides) that if he is making this up, he will absolutely be found out.
And if that’s the case, being ruined professionally and financially will be the least of his concerns.
So it’s a wait-and-see, but there is so much smoke in AZ, it’s hard to imagine the fire Thaler found isn’t the source — because if it isn’t, then the source must be something very similar, yet different.

Agreed, and IMO, it also goes for things like “bread” and “breakfast cereal”, etc., made with “quinoa flour” or “quinoa berries.”
IIRC, the Peru locals and tribes were pretty well adapted to eating it, a substandard grain but it was local and had merit as a multigenerational food source. It was cheap and readily available.
Then when it was discovered it was promoted into this massive health food, which it isn’t, and suddenly quinoa exports were through the roof and it was being grown everywhere.
But the Peruvian locals saw the prices of it skyrocket and it’s no longer a cheap, available grain for them.
A classic example of Leftist colonialism and exploitation of indigenous people at work.

Expands the existing affordable housing programs of the RTC and the FDIC by broadening the potential affordable housing stock of the two agencies. Increases the statute of limitations on RTC civil lawsuits. If your property wasn’t worth much AND there was no CDS on it you got a modification. If there was a CDS then you were strung along with ‘lost paperwork’ for months and then hit with a huge bill due in 30 days. The bill includes all back payments owed, penalties AND Lawyers fees. If you managed to beg, borrow or steal the money, dance #2 started. The bank then claims it can not give you an answer to the question of just how much money was needed to keep the house from being foreclosed on because they did not know what the lawyer fees were. So additional thousands have to be spent on lawyers to get the banks to cough up the answer to the simple question HOW MUCH. This takes months with additional penalties and lawyers fees piling up (From personal experience)

The 2015 paper from Ralph Baric, et al., at UNC, cited in the linked article, have some * very interesting * items, in addition to the main body of the paper.
First: It appears that NIH / NIAID (Anthony Fauci, a friend / mentor of Baric) funded the research for the paper with multiple grants. Some of these grants were apparently “laundered” through EcoHealth Alliance (Peter Daszak.) There were also grants involved from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Second: Zheng-li Shi brought a SARS-CoV type virus with her to Baric’s lab when she went there to work with him on this paper. The virus she brought FROM THE WUHAN INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY LAB was SHC014. It was THIS virus that was experimented with at Baric’s lab in the process of coming up with SARS-CoV-2. IMO, it was this CREATED VARIANT of SHC014 that Shi took BACK with her to the WUHAN lab which then eventually became SARS-CoV-2 (“COVID-19.”)
This raises the following questions: Who funded the experiments at the Wuhan lab that came up with SHC014? Why would Shi go to Baric’s lab at UNC, bringing this virus sample with her, to work with Baric? What did Anthony Fauci know about all this, and when did he know it?
Third: The SHC014 virus experiments and its created variant viruses experiments performed at the Baric lab in 2015 (and beyond) were funded as GAIN-OF-FUNCTION research under a “grandfather-in” arrangement with NIH / NIAID. This arrangement was agreed on BEFORE the U.S. government paused Gain-of-Function research.
