The drink reminds me of my first introduction to college parties at the University of Casual Sun-Bathing. You know those cafeteria-style stainless three-foot-tall insulated beverage dispenser things? You could get one for your dorm party from the campus food service.
It was then loaded with pretty much the Harry Buffalo recipe — except no fruit chunks*, add one box of brown sugar, and add a bottle of Everclear. Then, being college kids, they clipped the top closed and shook the whole container to mix. When they unclipped the top of the container to see if any more ice would fit, visible fumes lapped over the edge like a Halloween display…..

Are you familiar with the scheduler, and the way it kicks out things during the 15 minutes after you schedule? You pretty much just change the time and date of the post, and it automatically switches from publish mode to schedule mode.

One of the guys on the hall was making out with a girl in his room, when he suddenly realized that the processes of nature were in operation. Politely excusing himself, he went to the door of his room, opened it, and went “BLEEEARRRRGGGGHHHH” out into the packed hall.
Closing the door and wiping his mouth, he unsuccessfully attempted a “now, where were we…..”
Oddly enough, they actually did have a continuing relationship…..just not on that night.

Who are you calling the Dunce Cap Kid? I got the liquor store gig because a guy owned a gas station, a liquor store, and a bar in close proximity. He had my cousin working the gas station, so I had an “in” there — it helped that all three of us shared an Irish last name [“Fhtagn”]. Next thing I knew, I was working in a liquor store at the age of 16 [at the time, you couldn’t work at a liquor store under the age of 18, and only with supervision until you were 21]. I had a key and could open and close the place.
That’s sweet. My mom got conceived because her teen parents got to sneak away into the bottling area of her dad’s dad’s bottling works…liquor & all.
I kind of put myself through grad school working at a gas station convenience store for $4.15/hour w/ my BS in biomedical chemistry pre-med LOL

I think it was kind of sad given that her birth mom got molested by a farm hand after her dad dropped dead when she was sitting on his lap as a little girl. She probably got promiscuous due to that molestation. However she did love my mom’s birthfather, per reports from other birth-family we met after she had died. In God’s economy that baby “conceived in sin” has had a very large impact on the Kingdom of God. All 3 kids, 11 grandkids + 3 step-GK’s, all spouses of the above are following hard after the Lord, w/ a few wide-road detours in some lives. Now the Great-Grand kids that are coming along are being raised in loving Christian homes, many of which plan to homeschool these kids that will be raised in the faith!
The Lord does indeed work in mysterious ways.
Somehow Love and Faith generally tend toward the good.

My first exposure to alcohol was when I was a young teen (probably 14), hanging out with my older brother’s wife for a night. My brother was deployed in Vietnam at the time. She took us to a local party and I remember sitting on the floor of someone’s trailer with my back against a wall and my feet straight out in front of me. Some guy kept asking me, “have you tried this?” I had tried nothing before, so foolishly went through a series of different kinds of alcohol with no idea of the outcome. At the time, it was like a silly game.
We went back to my SIL’s place. I sat on the doorstep and an unknown dog came up to check on me while she unlocked the door and helped me inside. SIL had me take a shower while I was puking until I had dry heaves. SIL was holding me up so I didn’t fall over. Thankfully, I did not have to go home that night. My parents would have been so upset. What I learned: don’t mix different kinds of hard liquor and don’t party with the big kids (SIL was probably just 18).
I can drink socially. There is no risk I would ever become an alcoholic. I’m grateful for those hard lessons, though I had many more things to learn in college 72-76. It is a miracle I’ve made it this far. 🤓

I was 20, living on my own. my friend gave me a bottle of Jack Daniels and dared me to drink it. I said no, but he left the bottle on the table when he left. I remember locking the door, and sitting down to watch tv looking at the bottle and thinking what the heck…
I woke up, naked in my kitchen sink, clutching a jar of peanut butter. my clothes, I later discovered, were folded neatly in the freezer.
I have no memory of anything–not emptying the bottle–which was on the kitchen floor–not being sick–none of it.
i haven’t had a drink of alcohol since.
that was 40 some years ago–but still–don’t tell my mom, okay?

Long ago in a Uni far, far away, my roomies and I were celebrating getting through midterms alive and relatively unscathed 🙂
We went to El Cholo’s on Western Avenue… Ordered our drinks, I ordered a pitcher of Margaritas… for myself (!) 🙂 and through the course of the meal finished it, and went to the necessary (there parting ways with the Margarita and dinner, so to speak).
After getting back to the table, I had a couple of beers…
My roommates were stunned at my, erm, capacity for liquor… little did they know 🙂
But alcho-karma struck, and I spent the rest of the night with dry heaves and the room rotating backwards over me… I was a VERRRY long night… 😖
But, I’ve never gotten drunk since then, so it was a lesson I never forgot, midterms or not… Still like Margaritas, in spite of that.
One of my roomies won a HUUUGE bottle of Southern Comfort, so big it had a tap on the bottom to pour it out (I think it was on a stand of some sort). We were REALLY popular that year…
And I cannot even LOOK at Southern Comfort to this day….

I’m doing fine, These Truths. Thank you for asking. I have an appointment next week to talk to a VA surgeon about lumpectomy surgery. At this point, with all I’ve learned, I don’t think I’ll do it. Surgery, like chemo and radiation, just moves stem cells to a different location in the body where cancer can crop up again at a later date. I’ve seen studies that this happens well over half the time. And when it comes back, it’s even more resistant to treatment. But oncologists are forced into their Standard of Treatment, which is just surgery, chemo, and radiation. It’s barbaric. And chemo and radiation leave your immune system and your gut totally trashed, which makes it really difficult to fight off cancer. But I’m going to keep an open mind at my appointment and see how the doctor addresses my questions and concerns.
I much prefer the more natural path. Right now I’m on Fenben and Ivermectin and a whole bunch of other supplements proven to fight cancer. I actually feel great! The protocol I’m following has helped hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people get NED (no evidence of disease). It’s a whole cocktail of different supplements that fight different aspects of how cancer cells grow and spread. I see posts every day of people who were stage 4 who went in to get a scan and the cancer is completely gone. I’m expecting that to happen to me at some point.
I’m a little bit surprised that I haven’t felt panicked or afraid. But I really believe that God has this. I just need to keep following the protocol and trust in Him. I really, really appreciate all the prayers.

Thank you, TT! I’m really expecting that the surgeon will be pushing the conventional cancer treatment protocol. But my primary care NP said she would support whatever decision I make. So we shall see.

I have been in that same scenario. If not for the halter around my little dog’s chest and neck, he would have been killed. I had him swinging in the air like that.
So many people think their dog is “a good dog” that won’t cause any harm, but under the right circumstances, many dogs will attack. Example: a neighborhood where there are leash laws. A homeowner walks outside to get something out of their car and lets Fido, “the perfect dog who won’t run away,” go with them, unleashed. Meanwhile someone else is walking their little dog on a leash, minding their own business. Then Fido’s prey instincts kick in, and the little dog gets attacked. My dog had to have his wounds cleaned out and a round of antibiotics. It could have been so much worse.
