FG&C was an early contributor to the Q tree. While smart, well spoken and liked, on rare occasion he did not try to control his temper and would lash out. Personally I put this down as actual cabin pressure having an effect since he was an over worked pilot for a major airline. The instances were not many but were epic and he did drive a few people away for a time. Overall the choice to leave was his and I’m sure he’d be welcome back any time he chooses.
It was reaction, usually, to something else going on in the background. That I figured out a number of years ago. It was usually family related.
He’s not so much overworked as you might think. He has been maxing out his time, though.

I required a “no first or retaliatory strike” agreement from both Scott and FG&C, to get out of moderation. No comments about each other. If the other attacked, don’t respond – wait and allow me to put the antagonist back into moderation. That’s it. Scott agreed, and then demonstrated that he would not attack or respond, so he got out of moderation. FG&C preferred not to post any more, which may have been a smart move anyway, if he knew he could not resist attacking Scott.

I can think of several possibilities, one of which is the most probable. And I wish I didn’t know anything since he does not choose to talk with us about it.

I do actually appreciate ALL the comments here. I have tried to maintain a certain amount of privacy and let wounds heal, but I really should speak about this a bit.
The bottom line is that when two people get into a “they can’t stop fighting” groove, I have a solution which requires the two to ignore each other or get “moderated” until that happens.
Nobody gets banned. Just pair moderation until mutual ignore takes hold. More often than not, the party or parties that can exercise restraint and ignore the other person stay.
If I thought it would have caused all this vitriol, I never would have asked for prayers.

Probably best to just ask for “prayers for a friend”, and let people think it’s a neighbor or old classmate.
I have learned over time that there’s no way to talk about formerly active members here, where there was any kind of conflict or bad feelings, without resurrecting those bad feelings with at least some people. Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
NO ONE was asking fthat she justify herself. Why you seem to think that, and seem to be speaking on her behalf, is curious. It wasn’t about her personally or about her giving an explanation. None was needed, at all. And none was demanded. Her first statement of something like “sorry for the delay; a friend is in need” was sufficient. And IMO we didn’t even need the part about the friend.
She is the one who chose to share information that she knows, that the rest of us can’t know. Maybe FG&C said, “Please tell the QTree people that I’m having issues,” but I seriously doubt it. If that had been the case, it would have been customary to say, “FG&C asked me to share this and asks for your prayers,” or something to that effect. But that didn’t happen.
Maybe he didn’t say anything like that but is fine with her sharing the info. That’s up to him. But if it were me, I would feel royally betrayed that someone I had been confiding in had told the world I’m having problems, to the point that people are now discussing “me” while, unbelievably, more info keeps trickling out.
I’ve counted at least 9 facts about the FG&C situation that DPat has chosen to “allow” us to know, when FG&C is completely out of the picture.
IMO, we shouldn’t be bringing up his name or his situation unless he has asked that that be done. I feel so bad for him.
The only person who is served by this situation is the one who holds the information and controls how much of it gets out.

Can we not just agree to let this issue waft softly and gently into the past?
And talking about others here as “grumps” in the process. I didn’t see any grumps or anyone putting her down or asking her for explanations. That was what my issue was with that.

1.I didn’t see pressure to give a reason.
2.The fact that it’s someone whose name we know, who does not come here anymore, was not necessary to share at all.
3.I’ve presented what I consider a solution to this kind of situation several times, and every time the varied reactions are to take offense, to think I’m just griping about an author, or to misconstrue what I’m saying.
I’m going to state it again, clearly, for the record. I consider there to be two elements.
1.People post a lot less on the daily thread about an hour before time for the next day’s post because fewer people will see and respond to those comments. So they wait until the next day’s daily is up. This explains the so-called midnight deadline.
2.My opinion: If an author sees they are going to be late, I would be in favor of their posting a blank page with the date on it so we can comment. Maybe a sentence stating they’re not being held hostage and will see us later. And no editing of the post or adding to it would be expected later, either. I would have no problem with that, and I can’t imagine anyone else having a problem with it either. Things come up, and I think everyone would understand.
What I’m proposing would, I hope, take pressure off of an author in that situation. It would also allow people here to continue the commenting schedule we are on now. It seems like a win-win to me.

I’ve been thinking about what happened yesterday, and I’m thinking the first people who should be charged with crimes in this travesty of a trial are the two attorneys who violated their oath of office by ignoring the obvious deficiencies of the judge’s instructions to the jury, and voted for conviction without a predicate crime even being agreed upon.
They should be, at minimum, disbarred.
Two sharp tongued lawyers sitting in the jury ready to sway the vote. That’s stacking the deck.
In WA state, anybody can file a bar grievance against an attorney. There does not need to be a history with the attorney or any interaction between the grievant and the attorney.

Bitcoin is outside that system, and it is beyond the control of the psychopath political-class, so to them it is a threat that must be destroyed.
TCTB, in their arrogance, are discovering too late that they are unable to destroy it, so their next instinct is to co-opt it, and take control of it.
They will fail at that too, but not before doing plenty of harm in the form of roiling the markets.
DJT is asking the right question. He asked his Bitcoin advisor (owner or editor of Bitcoin Magazine) whether Bitcoin could be used to help solve the national debt problem.
So he’s thinking in the right direction.
The solution is simple.
Since the U.S. gov’t has (for a little while longer) the world reserve currency, the answer is to print worthless fiat and use it to buy valuable Bitcoin.
Fiat is worthless because it is infinite monopoly money that they can print out of thin air.
Bitcoin is valuable because it is finite, and no one, not any government in the whole world, can debase it or inflate it by creating more of it. That is what makes it a ‘hard’ asset, even harder than gold.
So the U.S. gov’t is in the unique position (due to the U.S. dollar having world reserve currency status) to print worthless paper and exchange it for a hard asset.
If they can do that secretly, and accumulate a significant amount (as other sovereign nations are trying to do right now), it will create an international arms race for Bitcoin, because it is finite, there is only so much available to go around.
The U.S. also has a major advantage in that much of the Bitcoin mining takes place in America. The same mining companies that Brandon/Hussein are trying to drive out of America with their attacks on crypto.
The value of Bitcoin will necessarily skyrocket, as larger percentages of global wealth are invested in Bitcoin. The market cap of Bitcoin is maybe 1/10th the market cap of gold bullion, so there is plenty of room to grow.
If nation states and central banks begin accumulating Bitcoin, the race is on, and they will be competing against the population of the entire world, whose national currencies, like ours, are heading to zero.
Bitcoin could easily do 100x, maybe 1,000x.
At 100x, it would take 5,074,626 Bitcoin (out of roughly 14 million in current circulation) to pay off the $34 trillion dollar debt.
5 million out of 14 million available Bitcoin would be tough to pull off.
At 200x, it would take 2,257,000 Bitcoin. Only Satoshi (the pseudonym of the inventor) has 1 million Bitcoin, which has never moved from his wallet, and is presumed ‘lost’.
Blackrock will be the next to reach a million Bitcoin.
At 300x, it would take 1,691,542 Bitcoin to pay off the nation debt.
Even cutting the national debt in half, to a manageable amount, would save the nation. So at 150x the current price of Bitcoin, that would be $10 million per Bitcoin. $10 million per Bitcoin is a reasonable price projection at current adoption rates, by around 2034 to 2040, based on many different models.
At $10 million per Bitcoin, 1,691,000 Bitcoin would pay off roughly half the national debt.
Any of the largest nation states could reasonably accumulate that much Bitcoin, because they can print fiat to buy it.
The U.S. has a major advantage by having world reserve currency status. Bitcoin is already well past previous all-time highs as measured by most currencies around the world, but measured in U.S. dollars, Bitcoin is still below the all-time high. Comparatively speaking, in U.S. dollars, Bitcoin is still at ‘sale’ prices.
So the U.S. would need to print less fiat (in most cases, far less, thereby doing less damage to their own economies) to acquire Bitcoin.
The U.S. already has a good head start, around 240,000 Bitcoin if I remember correctly, from seizures.
The price of Bitcoin is going to skyrocket the moment it is discovered that any major sovereign nation is stockpiling.
It might as well be us.

Given that there is a lot of rhetoric since yesterday’s legal news, I thought I would give some context to the oft heard phrase, “a nation of laws.” Ancient cultures of the Near East were not governed by laws per se. The real binding force was a common worldview and culture acting as a governor on personal behavior. Israel’s culture was different in that its society was based on a covenant with God. The differences between the types of societies can be striking.
As a parallel with our own society, it can be represented as a mix of law and covenant. The ordinary American citizen has a covenant with the American republic whereby they observe the laws not because of fear of punishment but as a duty to their society. Others like Progressives and their fellow travelers see laws as a mechanism to institute their desired change and have no sense of belonging to a social covenant. When this dynamic gets out of balance things like yesterday happen and the social fabric frays and weakens. If I remember, one of the founding fathers commented that America was only possible for a moral people. We are seeing what happens when that is no longer the case.

The emphasis on the latter was much more prevalent in the Pentateuch than anywhere in the ancient Near East. We have noted that the verdict catalogs do not call for obedience at all. The treaties regularly indicate that there are repercussions to failing to observe or obey the stipulations, namely, that all the curses would come upon them.
