The author of that piece claims Western Civilization has been in decline for a couple hundred years. I would argue it’s more like five hundred and accelerated in the last three hundred. Main takeaways from the Trump/Elon conversation:
-Trump can talk off-script about policy for hours, while Kamala can’t talk without a teleprompter.
-Trump and Elon seem to have a great relationship and mutual respect for one another.
-Trump was authentic and transparent, compared to Kamala and the Dems who are fake and deceitful.
-The reach of this conversation will dip into new demographics Trump is not normally accustomed to reaching, and hopefully will increase his support. He certainly did not lose any support, so we can only view it as a net positive.
-Most of what was discussed was nothing new, but this conversation was targeted at a broader audience that is not already engaged heavily in politics.
-Trump’s promise to delete the Department of Education is a winning policy that is supported by MAGA, Libertarians, RFK Jr. supporters, some Leftists, etc., and should be talked about more.
-Trump has plans to utilize Elon in the upcoming administration, and Elon is willing to contribute, particularly in shrinking Government spending, which is also a winning policy supported by most.
-Trump did interject Elon a bit too often for my liking, but luckily Elon did a great job navigating that, and was able to maintain the flow, which improved as the conversation went on.
Overall, a huge win for Trump, for Elon, for X, and most importantly for The People. It’s not often we get that kind of transparency and access to our leaders. The more of this, the better!
Elon needs to improve his tie knotting skills. Or get longer ties.

A business has to make a profit so the owners are paid for THEIR TIME/INVESTMENT. If the minimum wage is jacked up too high, if the business is burdened with too many regulations, taxes and high energy costs, the business either MOVES OUT OF THE COUNTRY OR CLOSES!

Some people are content with their minimum wage jobs and giving longevity raises are unfortunately not part of the normal practice for mid size and smaller companies. They likely could of avoided all these hikes in minimum wage if they were given with more frequency.

Just as an example of what my small business has done:
Running costs:
Diesel: originally $1.20 per gallon now $3.76
hay: originally $1.50 now ~$15.00
Grain: originally $2 for a 50 lb bag now $24 per bag
Hoof trimming $7 per horse now $44 per horse
Essentially you can add a zero going from 1995 to now. Yet my prices only went up 1/2 that and I had to EAT the difference.

This is what INFLATION has done.
A much simpler example was my hay guy had to pay TRIPLE the amount for fertilizer between 2020 and 2021 but he can not CHARGE triple the amount for his hay. He certainly is not going to raise the wages for the guys who help him.
The Tiger Rescue actually had a MONTH LONG WAITING LIST a couple years ago. Normally I can donate an ill pony that day. People were off loading horses they could not pay to care for and could not sell.
Now add in the COST of regulation for the businesses that are now regulated.

Libertarians know that everything that government touches turns to crap…..which means that all those government schemes to replace organic demand with government spending cannot increase people’s well-being.
To round things out, money flushed into the economy without a corresponding increase in well-being inevitably turns into inflation.
Remember when Obama complained about having fewer “shovel-ready” projects than he expected? That’s a sign that money going to increase “aggregate demand” will not actually provide any economic benefit.
You might as well just call it “malinvestment” before you write the check.
To illustrate: One guy is paid to dig a hole and a second guy is paid to fill it in.
If you are NOT putting a post or a tree in that hole 😆 then it is “malinvestment”

Keynesians love the expenditure approach because they want to justify government expenditures.
ALL government paychecks should be EXCLUDED from GDP because THEY SUCK MONEY out of the economy instead of producing something.
The only exceptions would be those actually building something useful like roads, bridges, damns and maybe the postal service.
here’s a thought…let’s exclude them from GETTING a paycheck. keeping excluding one after another until the budget balances again.

I should point out that I am old enough to remember when various proposals would be sent to upper management to be evaluated against “Internal Rate of Return”. Interest rates would act like a knife to divide good ideas from stupid ones — none of this DEI and woke BS would have survived ten seconds of such scrutiny….not to mention green, net zero, or decarbonization.
So interest rates were artificially depressed some decades back so that these idiotic and inane ideas might seem plausible. I doubt that any accountant under 30 years old has any clue how to even make such an evaluation any more….
