@CarloMVigano

The “mass deportation” of illegal immigrants is a decision that the State can legitimately take, and this is a principle dictated by Natural Law even before positive civil law or Canon Law. Conversely, the “mass deportation” of illegal immigrants is certainly and indisputably incompatible with the network of pseudo-charitable organizations in the hands of the Bergoglian Hierarchy, the Democratic Party and the NGOs attributable to George Soros, and with the system of complicity between the deep state and the deep church, both of which are actively engaged in the dissolution of the social, economic, cultural, and religious fabric of the Nations in which they have taken control of the institutions. Stopping illegal immigration would make them lose an inexhaustible source of profit, paid for by citizens’ taxes. The “mass deportation” of illegal immigrants is certainly and unquestionably incompatible with the subversive plan of ethnic substitution shared by the globalist elite, because it thwarts it and prevents the creation of the premises for social revolt that are intended lead to a further restriction of fundamental freedoms. When we hear representatives of the deep church (i.e. the Bergoglian “church”) or the deep state speak, we ought to realize that these people are emissaries of the subversive globalist lobby, and that every word they say is false, because behind an apparently acceptable excuse they actually hide unmentionable criminal purposes. Let us not be surprised then if “Cardinal” McElroy – appointed by Bergoglio as “Archbishop” of Washington, heir of the serial abuser and right-hand man of the Argentine Jesuit, Theodore McCarrick – is so busy with immigrants, LGBTQ+, the environment and vaccines: these are the points of the Agenda 2030, which the Bergoglian “church” has been promoting since the Mafia of St. Gallen managed to have a puppet of the World Economic Forum elected “pope”. And let us not be surprised if what the exponents of the deep state and the deep church have in common is corruption, vice, and perversion.

MEMES and FUN STUFF

True story.

1 John 4:19–5:4

4 19We love, because he first loved us. 20If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should love his brother also. 5 1Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and every one who loves the parent loves the child. 2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.

All that wood could have been air-conditioning those same homes in the summer, and heating them in the winter, if only Gavin Newsom would have listened to me!

Wood reactors. Net Zero compliant. It’s time!

cthulhu

Blow that — there’s more potential energy in the thorium in coal than can be realized by burning the coal, so we should build power plants that “burn” the thorium to convert the hydrocarbons to gasoline.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Ah, “more” may be true, but the energy needed to remove and concentrate the thorium is such that, I suspect most of that thorium energy would be used to get the thorium, because the concentration is still extremely low. IOW, you have to mine and remove the coal anyway – might as well burn it.

Or just burn the wood that’s going to burn down your house otherwise, since the coal and the thorium aren’t going to do THAT either way.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/coal-ash-is-more-radioactive-than-nuclear-waste/

The real truth is, nuclear waste isn’t all that radioactive, and while coal is even less so, if you burn it, the ash that’s left is slightly more radioactive.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Which is not to say that SciAm isn’t lying, because I still don’t trust them.

https://lhsfna.org/hundreds-of-workers-sickened-or-killed-following-coal-ash-cleanup/

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

What’s interesting is that if you have enough energy, that waste turns into an ore for all those elements!

barkerjim

Could it be because all the “radiation” was condensed into a smaller pile?

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Yes! In fact, concentrating sea water quickly would presumably do the same thing. This seems to be a recurring theme in natural processes, to create concentrated whatever.

Stuff from geologically “concentrated” deposits (ores are barely concentrated, TBH) gets released by some process or processes, and must then be reconcentrated by us, somehow, for our use.

Note similar situations with rare earths in beach sands – except that there may be good (energy efficient) ways to separate the rare earths (though still requiring some energy).

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0045653523025249

All of this is relevant to the error of “green energy” which, even when nuclear, must pay to get the nuclear fuel, and can’t pay its costs otherwise. Note also that deuterium in the water here is a kind of ore, and water on this planet is a kind of ore, too. Costs of concentrating fuel most always be paid.

The whole thing is beautiful, just by the fact that it works to sustain life, frankly, and then [more conscious] intelligent life! This planet really is a Garden of Eden.

Don’t forget to vote Democrat, 2026.

They’ve earned your vote. They have delivered on every insanity, every lie, every assault on reality that they ever promised, and so much more.

Right now, as the fires rage and your cities burn, they’re flushing fresh water out into the Pacific ocean, under the ridiculous pretense of saving a ‘smelt’.

Your mayor is in Ghana pretending to get in touch with her African roots. The same mayor that oversaw slashing the fire department budget by nearly $18 million (IIRC), while spending millions on Leftist pet projects.

The only surprise is that it took so long.

Yup.

California is a sovereign state in a sovereign nation. Cali residents need to handle their own issues and leave the rest of the 49 out of it. No more federal funds to bail them out. They are receiving what they wanted with their votes and inattention to state and local government activities.

Collin Rugg:

Donald Trump was mocked for sounding the alarm on the California water/fire crisis during his interview with Joe Rogan.

Turns out, he was right.

Trump spent nearly 7 minutes ranting about the issue, blasting Newsom for doing nothing to fix the problem.

Trump specifically discussed the Californian Delta Smelt controversy, where rainwater is wasted by being directed into the Pacific Ocean to protect a tiny fish species.

“You know in Los Angeles, you can’t get proper amounts of water.”

“In order to protect a tiny little fish, the water up north gets routed into the Pacific Ocean. Millions and millions of gallons of water gets poured [into the Pacific].”

“I got it all done. Nobody could believe it. It was all done. I said, I got it. You got so much water. All you have to do is sign, and [Newsom] didn’t wanna sign.”

“Every time I go to California, I say you have so much water. They don’t know it… I’m telling you, people living in Beverly Hills, they turn off the water. Same thing with the electric.”

It’s time to start calling Democrat policies and their proponents what they really are.

Mentally ill.

It’s mental illness at the top of government and business. The entire power structure is mentally ill, and they call it ‘virtue’.

TheseTruths

IMO mentel illness conveys a degree of excuse for behavior. I don’t think these people are worthy of having excuses. The motivations of the population-control freaks is evil, and those who follow their advice are following evil even when shown that to be the case. They don’t listen and continue their destructive behavior. No excuse.

Cuppa Covfefe

I think it goes back to Hegel (and the Greens [e.g. Habeck and Baerbock], Carly Fiorina and her “perception is reality” mantra, and others) and his solipsistic denial of objective reality… as explained by Oxford Refference:

The belief that only oneself and one’s experience exists. Solipsism is the extreme consequence of believing that knowledge must be founded on inner, personal states of experience, and then failing to find a bridge whereby they can inform us of anything beyond themselves. Solipsism of the present moment extends its scepticism even to one’s own past states, so that all that is left is me, now. Russell reports meeting someone who claimed that she was a solipsist, and was surprised that more people were not so as well.

We are caught in the middle of a war between Good and Evil. When Evil is ascendant (which we have allowed), then we are losing. When Good is winning, the world is better.

In the end, of course, God wins. But until such time as He deems, we are in the struggle.

Wolf Moon | Threat to Demonocracy

Amen!

cthulhu

This is somewhat confusing, particularly for those of us who are of a certain age….

J. Paul Getty built an art museum in 1974. It’s in Malibu and is a copy of a Roman villa from Herculaneum that was buried in the famous Pompeii eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.

After Getty’s death, his estate built an art museum in 1997. It’s in Brentwood, in the hills above the 405 freeway. It’s connected to a seven story underground garage by a private cable-pulled tram. (As a personal note, on one of the previous occasions my car’s battery died, I push-started my car in this garage about four floors down.)

Subsequent to this, the original Getty museum was renamed the Getty Villa, and the new one was to be known as the Getty Center. The old one specialized in antiquities, and other works were moved to the new one.

The villa, being modeled after an ancient Roman structure, but built to 1974 code, is reasonably fireproof — and its contents are generally pretty rugged. By contrast, the Getty Center is reputed to have every modern safeguard and may be impervious to natural phenomena (some say its collections can be made secure against an adjacent atomic bomb with six hours warning). The new Getty has been threatened by fire before, and it didn’t even muss its gardens.

So far, I’ve been hearing about the grounds of the Villa burning in the Palisades fire. That is not the Getty that has the Van Gogh in it.

cthulhu

Again, the most famous piece at the Villa is an ancient bronze. It would most likely shrug off smoke damage.

I don’t know how this works, but Repubs have a majority in the Senate. I don’t know if there’s some committee that can gum up the works.

scott467

So go around them.

You’re the POTUS. You have a Constitutional obligation to get things done. If the criminal legislative branch seeks to obstruct you in your Constitutional duties and obligations, then go around them.

Use the resources at your command to accomplish the objectives that would otherwise be accomplished by the appointees who are being blocked.

If it is something the military can do, then use the military.

If it is something private industry can do, then use private industry.

If it is something that another agency can be redirected or repurposed to do, then do that.

In the meantime, use Elon Musk to expose every single Republi-con senator and representative who is obstructing. Begin very open and public and very well funded plans to primary these exact Republi-con traitors.

Use fear, intimidation, money, power, every tool of force and coercion at your disposal.

In other words, treat them as they treat everyone else.

Last edited 12 days ago by scott467
Gail Combs

“…she hasn’t provided required vetting Materials…”

Well that is VERY EASY for POTUS to correct on Jan 20th at 12:01

Grant her the HIGHEST CLEARANCE. As POTUS Trump has the right.

Security Clearances and Presidential Authority

Security clearances are not mandated for the President, Vice President, 👉Members of Congress, Supreme Court Justices, or other constitutional officers,” a recent Congressional Research Service report explains. “The criteria for election or appointment to these positions are specified in the U.S. Constitution, and except by constitutional amendment, no additional criteria (e.g., holding a security clearance) may be required.”

:wpds_arrow: In fact, the security clearance system itself is an expression of presidential authority. Its scope and operation are defined in an executive order (EO 12968), and its terms can be modified by the President at will.

And if the President wished to grant access to classified information to a family member, for example, there would be no legal barrier to doing so. See “Trump Will Have Wide Latitude to Let Family Into Government’s Secret Circles” by Mark Landler, New York Times, November 16.

TheseTruths

So go around them.

Yes. I’m sure Trump and his people have plans. Some have menntioned recess appointments, and there is something else that I can’t remember details about. But I’d like to see other means being used to bulldoze through and get it done.

I think the Senate rules say that that would make it a two/thirds vote to pass.

kalbokalbs

Guessing that would apply to Committee voes down, sent to Floor anyway.

Aubergine

I’m going to say right now; I have no patience for the bullshit games.

That means I expect Trump to bulldoze right over whomever and whatever he needs to in order to enact his agenda.

Piss on the Congress, to hell with the Demoncrats. Get the shit done. America has suffered enough.

kalbokalbs

I’d guess that is Trump’s plan. Pedal To The Floor. Fuck All Who get In The Way.

We’, Trump have been obstructed every step of the way, since Trump came down the escalator, ~nine years ago.

The obstruction continues will All of the shit happening. Maggot, hussein, their criminals doing everything they can to derail Trump.

  • Ukraine, deficit, ME, BS fires in CA (engineered by Dumrats), NC Helene catastrophe, oil drilling raod blocks off the coast..
  • The list goes on. A review of any days news, since the election, reveals Deep State, Dumrat sabotage to Trump assuming the WH.
PAVACA

The DemCommunists are playing the “Go along to get along, or we’ll fix it so that no POTUS47 nominee gets approved” game. The so-called Republicans in the Senate, led by Sen. How is he not in so much danger now that his security detail won’t even allow him to remain in the state, because there is no way they can protect him against a population of 39 million people who want his head on a pike?

If a Republi-con was responsible for this, he’d already be dead or chased out of the state and his own home burned to the ground. Californians would be lining up to do it, high-fiving and virtue-signalling to each other.

I saw a clip of him being interviewed. There was devastation in the background. He responded to Trump’s criticisms by pointing out that people are losing their homes and even their lives, and something to the effect of “this isn’t the time for playing politics.” Well, when the actions and inactions of politicians caused the devastation, their failures are fair game. And you can bet that if the shoe were on the other foot, the Left would be howling.

“She was just PULLED OUT OF SURGERY”

______________

If you allowed it to happen, that’s on YOU.

If you’re in surgery, it doesn’t matter if the POTUS calls, you tell him you’ll get back to him when the surgery is over and your patient is in recovery.

WTH is wrong with people.

my question exactly!

Brave and Free

She’s just as much of the problem as the insurance company. Why is she just now speaking up?
Everything was okay until it effects her.

TheseTruths

I imagine she is crazy-busy and that she deals with insurance on most days and there is a feeling that protest is useless. It’s really hard for a doctor to become an activist for a lot of reasons. So many of the doctors that speak out and make videos are not in full-time practice anymore.

TheseTruths

It does say that her patient was asleep, but I get your point.

scott467

Any time you are under anesthesia, there is a non-zero chance you never wake up again. There are also recent studies (posted here, IIRC) that show brain damage as a result of being made unconscious during medical procedures (or for any other reason).

So this woman is anesthetized, and laying on an operating table while her surgeon is off playing Chatty Cathy with an insurance agent. Which means the anesthesia specialist is going to have to administer MORE anesthesia, which is going to cost MORE money AND put the patient at greater risk.

Beyond all that, do HIPAA laws not apply to insurance clowns? Why is my surgeon discussing my personal medical situation with some ass-hat at ABC Insurance, Inc.?

What business is it of his? His ONLY job is to pay the bills for treatment deemed necessary by a physician.

The insurance agent isn’t a medical professional, he has zero medical training and is in no position to make any determination about my medical care, under any circumstance. And he sure as *&^% better not be trying to coerce or influence my doctor in any way.

And the only way to make sure that doesn’t happen is to make sure insurance agents are prevented by LAW from EVER speaking to a physician about any individual patient.

Ever.

The appropriate person to make those decisions is the medical professional.

We pay insurance premiums to the insurance company to pay for whatever care is deemed necessary by the MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, not to pay for whatever care is deemed necessary by Joe Dumbass at Insurance ‘Я Us.

Because Joe Dumbass is always going to argue that $0 worth (or as close to it as possible) is the right amount of medical care.

Fix that problem easy.

Pass a law that anyone who works at an insurance agency goes into a national database, and for the rest of his life, that insurance agent receives the exact same level of medical care for himself and his family that he authorized for his policy holders.

Watch what happens then.

Motivation is a powerful thing… 😂

scott467,

I see three deplorable entities here.

1. The insurance company for interfering in the middle of a patient’s medical procedure

2. The hospital for allowing a doctor to take a phone call in the middle of an operation, and,

3. The surgeon for thinking it’s ok to leave the patient on the operating table to go and talk to the insurance company.

Aubergine

When a surgeon leaves a patient on the table to speak to a fucking administrator, HERE’S YOUR SIGN.

What the hell is wrong with so-called doctors now? Seriously. They’re like mindless automaton sheep.

kalbokalbs

Death Of Common Sense, is front and center.

Aubergine

And it’s killing people. For real.

TheseTruths

The patient was asleep. I don’t blame the doctor. I’m glad this happened and she spoke up about it.

prognosticatasaurusrex

The liability of leaving that patient, not to mention potential infection from contamination, ALONE would more than offset the cost of the surgery. I have seen them come and go, I hate to say it, but 1 of 12 is worth a dime, the rest are mindless lemmings. The Hippocratic oath is dead. Now it is ALL about the $$.

Aubergine

Sad, but true.

scott467

“She was just PULLED OUT OF SURGERY…”

_______________

That’s a lie. Nobody pulled her out of surgery, she CHOSE to stop the surgery and take the call. Turns out it was even worse than that, she actually called the insurance agent.

If I was the surgeon, I would fire whatever assistant was stupid enough to interrupt my surgical procedure for a freakin’ PHONE CALL, unless it was a phone call from God Himself.

.

“…while her patient was asleep and forced to speak with UnitedHealthcare”

_____________

So her patient is unconscious on the operating table, and this bureaucrat masquerading as a doctor CHOSE to LEAVE the operating room to take a call from United Health Care to call United Healthcare, on the orders of an insurance agent.

Nobody “forced” her to do anything.

Unless someone had a gun to her head, she clearly doesn’t even know the meaning of the word ‘force’.

.

“…who tries to cancel patients inpatient stay after surgery who has CANCER”

____________

That’s a discussion for the patient and her lawyers and the patient’s primary care physician, NOT the surgeon who is about to cut into the patient on the operating table, you &^%$%ing idiots.

.

“It’s 2025 and insurance just keeps getting worse”

_______________

Because people like you keep taking calls in the middle of surgery, and then doing whatever the bureaucrat on the other end of the phone says.

The bureaucrat is fighting for himself and his best interests.

Do you think the person calling in the MIDDLE of a freaking surgery has either YOUR best interests or (more importantly) your PATIENT’S best interests in mind?!?

YOU have to fight for YOU, and you *&^% well better fight for your unconscious PATIENT.

.

“I’ve never had this happen before. But during the second deep, I had a phone call into the operating room saying that UnitedHealthcare wanted me to call them about one of the patients who was having surgery”

______________

Are you a 5-year old child?

Younger?

Because even a 5-year old knows better than to take a phone call from an insurance company in the middle of a medical procedure.

How in the world are you not too embarrassed to even tell this story?

.

“I’ve never had this happen before.”

____________

It didn’t happen TO you, you DID it. It couldn’t have happened without YOU doing it.

For example, you could have left the insurance bureaucrat hanging on the line for the entire length of the surgery, and if he was still on the line when surgery was over, you could have talked to him then.

But no, you didn’t do that, did you Cruella?

No, you dropped everything, left your unconscious patient on the operating table, and RAN to the *&^%ing phone to talk to the money man.

And that’s 100% on YOU.

And nobody else BUT you.

YOU did it. You don’t get to pass the buck to anyone.

.

“But during the second deep, I had a phone call into the operating room saying that UnitedHealthcare wanted me to call them about one of the patients who was having surgery”

____________

How is it even POSSIBLE to call into the operating room?

WTH is going on here?

What possible reason could there be, to have a PHONE in the operating room?!?

Is it sitting right next to the Tik-Tok camera?

Do you do anything that anybody ‘wants’?

How in the world have you not been sued to oblivion by the patient in question?

.

“So I scrubbed outta my case and I called UnitedHealthcare…”

______________

Who scrubbed outta your case?

YOU did.

And who called United Healthcare?

YOU did.

The scumbag vampire wasn’t even waiting on the line, YOU actually called HIM.

.

“…and the gentleman…”

______________

The ‘gentleman‘ ?!?

Is that what they’re calling them these days? The #^%@ing scumbag that INTERRUPTED a surgical procedure to have YOU call HIM about the patient’s post-op care, is a ‘gentleman’?

Seriously?!?

How ‘gentle’ is he?

Is he ‘gentle’ enough to be YOUR insurance agent?

.

“…said he needed some information about her,”

____________

So let me get this straight, honey.

Some bean counter for a insurance agency calls into your operating room, and he ‘needed’ something, and so you, being a half-wit with radically misplaced priorities that only a half-wit could possess, you dropped everything and said “how high” when some clown from the insurance company said he ‘needed something’.

Are you a DOCTOR or a flunky for the insurance industry?

I guess we all know the answer to that question.

.

“…wanna know her diagnosis and whether whether her inpatient stay should be justified.”

_____________

Why are you even having that conversation?

Oh, that’s right, because YOU chose to INTERRUPT a medical procedure in an operating room, to go CALL an insurance agent.

How did you think that was going to go?

Did you think you were in the girl-power position, after being TOLD to stop your surgery and go call an insurance company agent, because he wants to know things?

Is there anyone who doesn’t own you?

Do you have any self-respect, at all?

You claim to be a doctor, a surgeon even, so you ought to have at least a little bit of self-esteem — enough to tell ANYBODY who interrupts your operating room to GFY — and whoever did it, and all their stuff better be gone by the time you’re done with the surgery.

But instead, here you are, taking phone calls and playing Stepin Fetchit to some stranger at an insurance company, while your patient lies unconscious on the operating table.

Do you do surgical procedures in blackface too, or are you a melanin lotto winning DEI hire?

.

” — I was like, do you understand that she’s asleep right now and she has breast cancer?”

______________

Love the valley-girl lingo, that’s very professional. Why are you even having that conversation, with anyone, at that moment in time?!?

Because you dropped everything, literally, to go MAKE a phone call to an insurance company. Because he ‘needed’ and ‘wanted’ something.

How do you think that looks? Who do you think has power in that scenario?

And who do you think OUGHT to have the upper hand in that scenario?

Where’s your girl-boss power?

Do you suppose the insurance agent went to college and then did 3+ years of medical school plus however many years in residency you went through? Is the insurance agent YOUR superior, either professionally OR transactionally?

Or is he a dime a dozen, replaceable by anyone who answers a want ad in the newspaper and walks in off the street?

And you’re interrupting a surgical procedure and saying ‘how high’ to this clown?

Were you born yesterday, or do you fall off the turnip truck every day?

.

“It’s out of control. It insurance is out of control. I have no other words.”

_______________

Somebody is out of control — or more accurately, doesn’t have any control in the first place, not control over herself or control of her operating room.

And she’s passing the buck like it’s a hot coal at a snowman making contest.

If I was the surgeon, I would have standing orders that I was NOT to be disturbed unless there was an actual fire or the building was being evacuated because they found a bomb.

I would certainly be chew on some ones ASS for forwarding that call to me.

Unfortunately hospitals are now like universities and run by WOKE money grubbing asses so the sureon is just a lowly employee.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) warned that this would happen if OH!Bummercare was passed.

To serve the state? Or to serve our patients?

That is the question we will increasingly face as government forces its power into every nook and cranny of our professional lives. I once belonged to all the standard societies—my specialty society, my state and local medical society and—dare I admit this—even the AMA. But I discovered that none of these societies stood on the principles I hold dear—individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, and the ability to freely practice medicine according to time honored Hippocratic principles.

AAPS Fights to Preserve Medical Freedom!

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, AAPS, has been fighting the good fight to preserve the practice of private medicine since 1943. When the Clinton health plan was proposed, we fought for open meetings. And when the details came to light, the plan was halted. In the current battle over health care “reform,” the AAPS helped organize numerous physician rallys and has a pending lawsuit suit in the DC Federal District Court challenging the constitutionality of the ObamaCare insurance mandate.

Conservation Alert

IS ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DEAD?

Trump Administration and Conservation

comment image

“Climate change is a hoax”. The president-elect has promised to practically wipe out federal climate, clean air, and clean water regulations. His administration’s plans aim at rules applying to everything from auto emissions to power plant pollution to drinking water standards. To those of us who care deeply for the natural world, these and similar statements and proposals by the president-elect are disheartening. But despair not.

Most Blue states have been ardent fighters in the battle against climate change deniers and air and water polluters. Their attorneys general and lawmakers are preparing to fight back by filing lawsuits, enacting their own regulations, and staffing up state environmental agencies.

In the first Trump administration, his agencies tried to roll back more than 100 environmental rules. The courts struck down many of those rollbacks after legal challenges.

Where and what will the anti-environmentalists attack first? Environmental advocates say the likeliest might be the EPA’s waivers that allow California to set its own limits, stricter than federal rules, for automotive emissions. Many other states, comprising 40% of the light-duty vehicle market, follow the California standards.

“[California] needs federal support on reducing transportation emissions, really centered on our waivers from the EPA,” said Ethan Elkind, director of the climate program at the Center for Law, Energy & the Environment at the UC Berkeley School of Law.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta, a Democrat, said in an interview, “There’s a way for regulations to be created, and a way for them to be changed. If the law isn’t followed, as it often was not during the first Trump administration, we will sue, and as in the past, we will win.”

Of the roughly 120 lawsuits brought by California against the first Trump administration, 70 were environmental cases, Bonta said. The state won a majority of those cases.

The Wall Street Journal reecetntly wrote that etven some MAGA Republicans are unwilling to roll back significant portions of the Biden-era climate bill where it could negatively affect their constituencies’ economic interests.

I’m reading rock solid about 80% of 12G of RAM, and about 20% of 16G of swap. This is before I changed my swap to a different device and doubled it from 8G — because I’d frequently go 100% of RAM and 100% of swap and my system would semi-hang.

First impression — I gave it more swap, and now it doesn’t need as much as it previously used. WTF?

Second note — both Brave and Firefox pushed updates while I was dorking around. Would it not be ironic if they fixed (in software) the problem I was working to fix (in hardware)?

cthulhu

I’d previously diddled with “swappiness”. Ubuntu standard is 60 — I’d tried 40 and 80 and they both seemed to make my memory management worse. I’m continuing to watch the current setup, but it is not doing the pre-misbehaving I expect.

Just to make this comment interesting, here’s “Ride to Happiness” —

pgroup2

I’m not a code guy but my speculation is that there are lines of code commanding the performance of something and directing the use of a specific size allotment of RAM not located in the swap file. By changing the amount of RAM, you are changing the base address of the RAM which is somehow the root by which all commands are to be used in certain execution sub-schemes.

Or some such similar thing. 😜

[I’m done now]

Valerie Curren

On that “happy” ride I could do without the extra spinning of the cars. Looks like something to get the vertigo & stomach contents going–yikes!

Brave implemented a “feature” where it tells you the memory usage of a tab when you hover over it (e.g. 662MB for youtube.com — lotsa thumbnails). That would be a total of “real memory” and swap, with the allocation between the two done by the kernel.

They seem to know the problem exists.

What they’re doing about it, OTOH……

L.A. Officials Complain There Aren’t Enough Firefighters — After Firing Hundreds Who Refused to Take COVID Vaccine
As fires rage across Los Angeles, city officials are complaining there are not enough firefighters to manage the situation.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said that the department was incapable of managing such a massive natural disaster.
“There are not enough firefighters in all of Los Angeles County to address four separate fires of this magnitude,” he said.
“The LA County Fire Department was prepared for one or two major wildfires, but not the four. This is not a normal red flag alert.”
While their lack of manpower is completely understandable given the incredible ferocity of the fires, it is worth noting that many firefighters were fired for their refusal to take the COVID vaccine.
As pointed out by the popular End Wokeness account X, local news media even ran reports back in 2021 about how firefighters had their employment terminated after refusing to provide proof of vaccination or requesting an exemption.
In fact, a group of hundreds of the city’s firefighters even filed a lawsuit against the city for violating their constitutional rights.

SB 1123 (Caballero) extends SB 684 (2023), a law that facilitates the subdivision of multifamily zoned parcels of five acres or less into up to ten for-sale lots. The law extends subdivision streamlining to single family residential lots within single family zones 👉that are vacant and less than 1.5 acres.👈 The maximum unit count of 10 units is amended to not include ADUs if local governments would like them built, meaning that local discretion could allow 👉up to 20 housing units to be built on these sites...

AB 1893 also decreases the unlimited density standard to state-imposed density standards of up to 35 dwelling units per acre.

California’s 2023 Housing Laws: What You Need to Know
AB 2295 (Assembly Member Richard Bloom) – Educational Employee Housing. This law addresses the dire need for teacher housing. It will allow a qualifying rental housing development project to be an “allowable use,” entitled to certain exemptions…
s entitled to be exempt from any use, density and height limitations that would preclude a residential development of at least 35 feet in height, and a minimum density ranging from 10 to 30 dwelling units per acre depending upon whether the jurisdiction is metropolitan, suburban or unincorporated. A qualifying development is also exempt from various requirements regarding the disposal of surplus land.

So NEW building codes in 2025 JUST IN TIME for rebuilding Californicate according to ‘sustainability strategy.’

Sept 2009 National Multi-Housing Council: Green Practices/Sustainability

Apartments are the core of any sustainability strategy. They are more resource- and energy-efficient than other types of residential development because their concentrated infrastructure conserves materials and community services. As part of an infill or mixed-use development, apartments create communities where people live, work, and play with less dependence on cars. This reduces the consumption of fossil fuels and their carbon emissions.

Through the NMHC Sustainability Committee, the Council is advancing industry best practices; working with lawmakers to adopt voluntary and incentive-based energy policy; and developing and promoting standards to help firms market their sustainability quotient.

This online resource is designed to help apartment developers and managers build and operate more sustainable properties and to help policymakers craft effective energy efficiency goals.

NYC mayor Bloomberg was putting it into effect in New York. He really must have LOVED Sandy since it means they can insist on Smart Growth housing as replacement.

…the city is bidding out the development rights for a city-owned parking lot on East 27th street, between Mount Carmel Place and First Avenue.

Interested developers are being asked to submit proposals to develop a residential tower, at least two-thirds of which must be dedicated to miniature apartments of between 250 and 350 square feet in size.

Because it’s a pilot program, the city says it can waive existing zoning regulations that prevent developers from building new buildings made up of small units. At the present, zoning law is biased toward the construction of buildings with a diversity of apartment sizes, big, small and in-between.

Should this experiment go well, the city will work to amend its zoning laws so as to facilitate similar such developments elsewhere.

But even for some, 400 square feet is a luxury.

Take Zach Motl‘s 178 square foot Clinton Hill studio. The interior designer, a collector since he was a child, fit all of his knick knacks, books, and magazines into his one room apartment by artfully arranging the objects. By using different colors, materials, and grouping his furniture together, he managed to created a bedroom, an office, and a living room — all in less than 200 square feet. The apartment has a very DIY-feel, as Motl did everything himself, from building the counter/front-end table to covering the kitchen walls with planking.

Exactly what I was thinking. However Christchurch NZ was the actual Beta test.

March 2016 The Demise of Christchurch City New Zealand
This blog has LOTS of info.

I came across the above article in the New Zealand Herald of Monday May 2.

I am interested in this subject, especially the Sea Level Rise aspect.

This is because my Local Government is currently is  starting to put pressure on 18,000 private properties which are believed (by the Local Government) to be “in danger of inundation in 100 years time” .

This action is based upon a report commissioned by my City Council which assures us that there will probably/most likely be a 1000mm sea level rise within that 100 years.

I have studied this report as well as a few others produced by the same agency. In all there are three or more reports upon which the Christchurch (NZ) City Council is using to justify their actions.

In New Zealand, each property title has a document called a “Land Information Memorandum” attached to it. This gives details of any possible hazards and town planning obligations etc. that apply to this particular title. This is essential and generally helpful reading for anyone wishing to purchase that particular property.

An brief overview of the Councils intention reads something like this….

Rebuild Christchurch as a Sustainable City. …

Brave and Free

The Republican mayor and Republican city council here voted to change housing regulations. So now homeowners can turn their garage or divide the house into small aprartments. All in the name of offering more opportunities for low income people.
So now we’ll start seeing all these tiny rat holes pop up. To compliment the influx of all the 5-6 story high rent apartment building’s being built.
The writing is on the wall where this will all end.
