As I listened, I thought Jennings was saying what he thought had to be said in order for the rest of his comments to be heard. If he hadn’t done that, the panel would have erupted and talked over each other and him, and he could not have gotten his point across.

While I agree that slavery was not a mistake, I find it (like, for instance, cannibalism and human sacrifice) to be part of the nature of man — found the world around among all peoples, and not nearly as far in the past as is generally supposed.
That said, it was the Anglosphere that took the lead in eradicating these practices worldwide…..which seems to have left everyone else with a certain degree of resentment.
I find it particularly troubling that the industrial North lays all the blame for slavery on the agricultural South after the Civil War. Massachusetts abolished slavery in 1783. Vermont abolished it in 1777. In 1787, it was abolished in the Northwest Territory (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin). In each of these cases, there was some forewarning, and slaveholders (who had a significant portion of their wealth in their slave holdings) could hurriedly sell their slaves into regions where abolition had not yet taken hold [being “sold down the river”].
For the North to then say, “you eeeeevvvviiiilllll Southerners, you have slaves!” could be immediately countered by, “yes, you sold them to us.”
I have not always stated in the stories, but the vast majority of our founding fathers and their associates had slaves even in New England. Many did not release them before they personally died as they were concerned with the individuals bing able to survive in society without their assistance. Some did, but it was well into the 1790’s and beyond in some cases.
Slave trading was on its way out in the middle of the Revolutionary War. Few ask how it was established in the first place because they do not seek the answer that it was mercantilism of primarily the northerners. Yeah, that is the inconvenient truth. Most of the slaves entered the colonies through the port of Charleston, SC. From there many went to work on the plantations to produce cotton and other farm products for who? Yup, mercantilists living in the north who were trading with Europe. The more polished or preferred were shipped north to those same mercantilists and communities to work as slaves in their homes and on their farms. Others worked in the sweatshops of those same mercantilists.
I am so sick of the holier than thou BS. They were all in on it and profiting from it. They built great fortunes using them.
They leave out the much larger number who were not African who would sell themselves into servitude for periods of time to be able to leave the oppression and squalor of their ugly existence in Europe to have a shot at living free here in America. There were far, far more of them.
It is way past time for Americans to move on. We are all the same regardless of skin color or background. That was then, this is now.

Often people who came from Europe were engendered servants. They came here to the US and had to work off they ship fair. They got very little often they got food left overs. My mother in law was that person worked long hours very little pay often was hungry and only got once a month half day off. She had a group of friends girls who came here at the same time who became her family here. All were 19. The life was miserable until she met my father in law at age 34. Some girls had horror stories were abused did not get the salary promise even though it was $25 after they paid their ship fair. I call it slavery and accommodations were not clean or livable to today standards. Still she loved this country.

No no, someone said they wanted to see some DNA information and I had already put that into a spoiler but like always it wasn’t read. Additionally the Hannibal Directive was issued that instructed military to disregard civilian causalities while striking at Hamas, accounting for at least 40 deaths and likely many more. Additionally Israel knew they were paying for tunnels and appox 50,000 truck loads of supplies were sent in to Gaza years before. Additionally 1.4 Billion was paid to Qatar to be smuggled into Gaza to pay for Hamas and fend off the West Bank Palestinians from involving themselves in Gaza’s elections.
None of these allegations have received a fair and formal look and such is not expected to happen until Bibi is out of power.
That’s one small aspect concerning my posting. There’s obviously many others to include how Arabs have been treated since settlers first arrived in the 40’s. 1,500 BC mentality vs 700 AD mentality and the two opposing forces look very similar in almost all aspects from violence to perversions.

Around here it started first with timbering and became the coal mines.
My Scots Irish ancestors did the indentured servant thing to get here. Timbering and saw mill stuff. Then coal mines began opening. The company camps were set up. Workers were paid with company minted coinage that was used to buy company provided goods in the camps, which grew into small communities. Some of those old remnant mining camp communities still exist throughout Appalachia.
My paternal great grandfather left a saw mill to go into the mines. It was all my grandfather and his siblings ever knew – that was a decade or so before 1900. My grandfather went to the company school through third grade before he started working in the mines as a water boy at age 10.
The owners of the companies for some reason were usually from the northeast and had iron and steel mill ownership. The first start ups of the mines were people who moved down from the north and built the camps, towns and communities. Later they would sell out to the wealthy industrialists.
Imagine that. Living high off the backs of indentured, children and other poverty stricken people.
Who were the people who owned slaves? Where they immigrants were they natives or were they first generation from where? who were the rich landowners who owned slaves?
Some of the slave owners were black. I’ve seen them on early censuses, especially in Louisiana. But other states, too.

Reminds me of a woman I saw in a video about a week ago. She was telling a story about a recent wedding she attended, and how she got into a fight with her husband (again) because when the two of them were married, she didn’t get the wedding she wanted.
She says her husband was afraid to stand up to his Mom, and as a result, their wedding was at the wrong time of year, at the wrong place, and her family couldn’t attend.
And they have fought about it ever since, for 30+ years, because she brings it up every time they go to a wedding.

Immediately after my mom and dad got married, my uncle (dad’s bro) mustered out of the Marines….and he came to live with them for several weeks before he found his own place.
Forever afterwards, it was a sign that a parental disagreement was getting vicious when my mom brought my uncle into it.

He’s a mixed race black man who appears to have only embraced his own black ancestry & identity while marginalizing &/or maligning his white ancestry, similar to how Soetoro came off, at least to me.
Anyway many episodes of Finding Your Roots delve into the slavery issue, based on the specific ancestry of the various guests. What fascinates me is how many times Gates would have to qualify his remarks about a Specific Slave Scenario connected to the ancestry of a guest & the presumed “orthodox” slavery narrative that’s widely accepted, for rarely did the real world example align with the “orthodox” approved view.
I think it was Aubergine, and perhaps others here, who pointed out that their ancestors were in effect “white slaves” via the indentured servanthood route or other processes.
In researching my husband’s genealogy I discovered a prominent line in his background, a Quaker family surnamed Shoemaker, were in fact white slaves in the Caribbean, as they made their way from Europe, where they’d been persecuted for their faith, to the New World. I haven’t dived deeply into this family history but was surprised to learn that Hubby has “slave” blood in his veins, but not necessarily black blood.

I was thinking about this when I woke up today. I saw a video by Anton Daniels recently. Anton is a Christian black man, who does regular commentary on the problems of black culture, both male and female black culture.
He often does group conversations, where he has 5 or 6 women on, frequently (but not always) all black, and he challenges them as to the choices they have made, and how they have become the way they are, and why. And what they think about men. And about white people. It’s all straight from the horse’s mouth, unfiltered.
In the video I watched recently, Anton was talking to another black man who appeared to be a friend of his. And he asked his friend, if a gang-banger rolled up on us, got out of his car and shot me, would you call 911, would you call the police and get me an ambulance and save my life?
And his black friend laughed, hemmed and hawed, and said I ain’t no snitch, Anton.
Anton wasn’t asking him to be a snitch, he was asking are you my friend? Are you my brother? Are you willing to call the authorities to save my life?
His ‘friend’ gets defensive at this point, ‘I ain’t no snitch, do me like that Anton’.
And to his credit, Anton told him if you won’t save my life, while I’m bleeding out on the street, then you aren’t my friend.
And he’s right.
That guy is not his friend, and Anton isn’t going to pretend otherwise. He’s not going to accept that ‘social contract’. He’s not going along with, or enabling, that aspect of ‘black culture’.
‘Snitch’ is prison terminology, and that’s what black culture has become, it’s a prison culture.
It occurred to me that so many black people have done prison time, that black culture has become prison culture.
It explains a lot.
I haven’t spent a lot of time in prisons, mostly because I try to avoid doing things that would get me sent there, but I have seen a number of videos by an ex-con who spent 10 years in a state prison for the armed robbery of a convenience store. He does regular videos on Karmelo Anthony and other high profile people who are likely going to prison, and what they can expect.
And much of what he describes about prison behavior is pretty much how many black people act all the time, outside of prison.
Every encounter is a dominance confrontation that leads to immediate violence if you are in the wrong part of the prison yard, or if you don’t have your posse with you.
Women get rapists, scott. I doubt you’ve had to deal with that particular kind of trauma, but it’s life-changing in a significantly different way than a car-jacking.
Men get raped in prison, it’s homo rape, which is a whole different kind of vile and disgusting.
Many women joke about that and cheer it on whenever some high profile man is going to prison, regardless of whether he’s a sex offender or not.
Prison should be a place where you lose your freedom and do your time, not someplace where you go to get murdered, or to get gang-raped every day unless you join a gang and follow orders to extort, smuggle drugs and kill other people, or die trying.
I don’t think that rehabilitates anyone, but it would probably make them a lot more dangerous when they get out.
If a white man defends his life against a fatiguer attack, his own life is probably over, regardless of the outcome. If he survives the confrontation, he will likely be arrested and prosecuted, and unless there is video of the incident and he lives in a conservative county in Texas, that white man is going on trial for his life.
Even if he is found not guilty, he’ll have to move his whole family, probably have to change his name, and spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.
That’s the best case scenario, for defending his own life against an unprovoked fatiguer attack.
Which is exactly what a white man has to anticipate in the current environment, anytime he encounters a fatiguer.
I understand about prison. My ex-husband was a prison guard for a time. I’ve heard stories. But that’s prison; I’m talking about just walking to your car in a parking garage, or taking a jog through the park.
If you are attacked by a lone male, you have a hell of a lot better chance of fighting him off than I do.
As for your last scenario:

My head is overflowing with research today, so forgive the philosophical mood.
What everyone keeps asking, implicitly, is whether there exists some hidden Leviathan; a single Rockefeller-style manifesto that lays out the master plan for one world order. That’s how people expect ideologies to work: communism gave us its manifestos, its “scientific truths,” its cults of personality. Monolithic systems are easy to trace because they tell us what is the “truth” and demand obedience.
But globalism is of a different species. It is pluralistic by design, self-consciously so. Karl Popper spoke of the “open society” as a Pantheon; no one has a monopoly on truth, everyone contributes their piece. Soros echoed this: nobody holds absolute knowledge, so institutions must be designed to keep multiple truths in circulation.
So if we extend the metaphor: how would such a Pantheon of gods govern?
They would not issue a single manifesto. Instead, they would agree over time to build common institutions: temples, rules of ritual through which their collective will could be enacted. Those temples are the IMF, NATO, the UN, the WTO, the OSCE. Each god retains individuality, but each also consents to empower the Pantheon as sovereign.
The unspoken covenant is: whatever disagreements they might have, every god advances the authority of the Pantheon itself. Bush, reluctant in Bosnia, still upheld the system. Albright, more zealous for intervention, pushed it forward. Soros was a disruptor who accelerated the Pantheon rule.

So, I recently got a Lenovo micro-case computer off of Woot. This is my second attempt, because they previously sent me a tower computer instead (which I elected to keep). It came with Win10P, and I just converted it to Ubuntu MATE, and it works fine. I’ll just need to set it up to run headless and I should be off to the races.
The previous error computer is destined to be a Jellyfin server. I want to make it dual-boot (default Ubuntu MATE) and I got hung up on that. Hopefully, it will go smoothly with the same Ventoy thumbdrive I just used to subvert its cousin.
The Fiancee is ditching a laptop which I am also trying to subvert, but it doesn’t want to shrink the existing Windows partition. Needs some research.
This has left me running a bunch of long computer processes (this computer needs to go from Jammy to Noble), but I’m pleased with the progress.

I think it’s because Vance made the first move in that regard, very recently, in offering an olive branch to Musk. Vance is brilliant. He knows that Musk thrives on hope, and that he (Vance) can offer more of that, while Trump goes into “Patton mode” – like right now.

That has always been my understanding.
It was the whole reason McStain was allowed to run for POTUS, because even though he was born in the Panama Canal zone (Coco Solo Naval Air Station), his father was stationed there as part of the U.S. Navy, with his wife, and so their child John, born there in 1936, was born to Americans serving on a U.S. military base and therefore John was an American.
If it were otherwise, John McStain would have been a Panamanian citizen.
Likewise, if the UK Ambassador to the United States is living in the United States with his wife, and they have a child, their child would be a citizen of the U.K., not a U.S. citizen.

I remember that!

A straight narrative, for a while.
In this older one, I talk to you,
And hope my meanings all come through.

I want God’s message to be heard,

Chosen words to set the right tone,
Deeper meanings, like kings enthroned.
Some short stories went this way, too,
Painting clear scenes for you to view.
Scenes that take you far, far away;
Life scenes in a fairy tale way.
A few of those were fun to write,
I like my heartstrings tugged just right.
I felt good reading my own tale,
A nice reward, when goodness prevails.
So I’ll keep on with both styles now,
With God’s Word first, that must be how.
But, we’ll see, every now and then,
Heart tugging tales may leak from my pen.

When I was a kid, I read “The Diary of Anne Frank,” like pretty much every kid back then did. At church, we heard about Moses, and Egypt, and “let my people go,” and all the Old Testament stuff. When I got older, I learned about WWII, saw pictures from the camps, and read about Auschwitz, Mengele, Hitler, and all the rest.
Later, I saw “Schindler’s List.” The more I read, heard, and saw, the more it puzzled me that this group of people, because of their religion, apparently, generated hatred in so many others. It was very weird to me. No other ethnic group had such a sustained level (or any level, for that matter) of hatred against it. There is nothing like the hate that exists in so many quarters for the Jews anywhere else in history. It made no sense.
Given the events and posts here over the past month or so, I have given this even more thought. And I have to say, I still find it weird. It’s like this mental block that just takes over some people’s minds or something. They just hate.
Oh, they say it’s not hating. They say today’s Jews aren’t really Jews, or they are doing something terrible (they say genocide). Of course, if any other group were doing it, it would be ok. because it isn’t a genocide at all. It’s self-defense. But this time it’s those Joooz. They’re bad, evil, cruel; it’s always something. My son says haters gonna hate, but this hate is really something special.
The only thing that makes sense to me is, it must be that the Jews, being God’s Chosen People, have the temerity to actually claim to be God’s Chosen People. They don’t demure, prevaricate, or evade it. They own it. Their written history precedes Christianity by two thousand years, Islam by twenty-seven hundred. Of the world’s religions, their history with God is the most well-documented, archeologically supported, unbroken timeline of any group. And I think that’s why some people hate them.
God Himself chose the Jews. They have remained, they have persevered, they have even thrived. And that makes some people absolutely wild with hatred.
It’s still weird to me.
P.S. Don’t give me any shit about “bloodlines” please. I have explained multiple times that whether today’s Israeli Jews descend from the bloodline tribe of Judah makes not a hill of beans of difference Biblically. Which is all that matters.
I believe it’s satanic hatred – i.e., inspired by Satan in his earthly minions. Satan knows that if he can somehow kill off all the Jews, then what God has prophesied can’t happen, and he won’t meet his prophesied end. Prophecy says that 1/3 of the Jews will be saved in the end and Satan will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. Satan has been getting nations and dictators all through the ages to try to annihilate the Jews, but God will never allow that to happen.

Christians do. Not an ethnic group, but I am nearly certain the hatred and persecution (and deaths) are far greater for Christians than any other group of people since the 1st century.
But Christians don’t have influence or control of media or the narratives therein.
Interesting thought. I would have to do some research to document it. I do know for certain that Christian sects have persecuted other Christian sects down through the ages. That’s how we got a whole lot of early American colonists.
Including my ancestors, whose sect fled to America after crossing Europe!
And many of mine. I had Quakers, Dunker Baptists, and I even recently discovered a Puritan. George Whitefield, who we read about just a few days ago, successfully converted a whole bunch of them to his “New Light” Baptist faith.
I wouldn’t say NONE – IMO, Christian influence is just spotty, apathetic, disorganized, incidental, and more “lazy majoritarian” – which contrasts markedly with Jewish strategies to keep presence and power in media, those being well-distributed, pro-active, highly organized, and “strivingly minoritarian”.
Jewish presence in media is similar to Armenian Christian presence in Ottoman government – and by saying that I’m not trying to create “genocide scare”, which is bullshit, but rather to point out that “power presence” is a common human minority strategy. We’re seeing more and more of it with Muslims now, with their style being somewhat different from both Jewish and Christian strategies – a bit in between, IMO.
People as a minority group will always try to “deal” with their lack of numerical power as a minority – and both Jews and Christians frequently have to contend with VIOLENCE as part of that when MUSLIMS are either the majority or a significant minority.

Vengeance is Sweet . . . like Honey
In the charming little town of Willowby, where picket fences gleamed whiter than a politician’s smile and every lawn was mowed to manicured perfection, people had a peculiar habit of dropping dead. Not in a dramatic, blood-splattered way, mind you – just quietly, mysteriously, often with a teacup in hand or a half-eaten scone on their plate. The townsfolk, ever polite, chalked it up to “the way of things,” as one does in charming little towns everywhere. After all, Willowby was the sort of place where bad things only happened to people who probably deserved it, or so they whispered over chamomile tea at the weekly book club.
The first to go was Mr. Clarence Tuttle, the bank manager who’d foreclosed on half the town’s cottages during the Great Recession, chuckling as he signed the papers. He was found slumped in his leather armchair, a jar of honey – charmingly labeled with a hand-drawn bee and a looping “From Mabel’s Garden” script – sitting open on his desk. The coroner, a nervous man named Dr. Peebles, muttered something about heart failure and scurried off. Nobody thought much of it. Clarence was a miserable old git, and heart failure sounded about right for a man whose heart was mostly made of compound interest.
Then came Mrs. Agatha Pimm, the gossip who’d once spread a rumor that the vicar was secretly a nudist. She keeled over mid-sentence at the garden fete, her teacup spilling Earl Grey onto her prized petunias. Beside her, another jar of Mabel’s honey, tied with a pink ribbon, glinted in the sun. “Natural causes,” Dr. Peebles stammered, avoiding eye contact. The townsfolk nodded sagely. Agatha’s tongue had been sharper than a hedge trimmer; maybe the universe had finally snipped it.
By the time the third victim – Councilman Reginald Snoot, who’d tried to bulldoze the town park for a strip mall – expired with a spoonful of honey halfway to his mouth, people started to talk. Not loudly, mind you – Willowby wasn’t that kind of town. But whispers fluttered like moths around the teashop, where the air smelled of lavender and suspicion.
The common thread, it seemed, was Mabel Pritchard, the town’s sweetest octogenarian. Mabel lived in a cottage so charming it could’ve starred in a postcard, with roses climbing the walls, lavender swaying in the breeze, and a garden buzzing with bees. Her honey was legendary, gifted in little jars adorned with ribbons and her spidery handwriting. Everyone loved Mabel. She’d bake scones for the church bazaar, knit scarves for the orphans, and smile so warmly you’d swear she was your own granny. But lately, folk noticed, her honey only went to certain people. The ones who’d crossed her, back in the day.
Take Clarence Tuttle. Decades ago, he’d swindled Mabel’s father out of his farm, leaving the family penniless. Agatha Pimm? She’d spread lies about Mabel’s late husband, claiming he’d run off with a barmaid when he’d actually died in a tragic tractor accident. And Reginald Snoot? He’d once fined Mabel’s mother for growing “unsightly” wildflowers, then laughed when she cried at the council meeting. Mabel never forgot. Mabel never forgave.
The townsfolk, bless their nosy hearts, began piecing it together at the teashop one rainy afternoon. “It’s the honey,” whispered Betty Crump, the librarian, clutching her teacup like a lifeline. “Mabel’s bees feed on that oleander in her garden. Poisonous, it is. I read it in a book.”
“Nonsense,” scoffed Tom the butcher, who’d never crossed Mabel and thus never received her honey. “She’s a sweet old dear. Wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“Flies, maybe not,” Betty muttered. “But what about that time she told me, ‘Betty, dear, some folks reap what they sow, and I just help the harvest along’? I thought she was talking about carrots!”
The teashop buzzed with theories, but nobody dared confront Mabel. She was too beloved, too frail-looking, with her lace shawls and twinkling eyes. Besides, the victims weren’t exactly mourned. “Good riddance,” muttered the postman, who’d lost his house to Tuttle’s foreclosures. “Serves ’em right,” agreed the florist, who’d endured Agatha’s gossip for years. Mabel, it seemed, was settling scores nobody else had the guts to touch.
One evening, as the sun dipped low and painted Willowby in shades of peach and gold, young Jenny Harper, the baker’s daughter, crept to Mabel’s cottage. She’d always liked Mabel, who’d taught her to braid daisies into crowns, but curiosity – and a touch of teenage bravado – drove her to snoop. Peering through the window, Jenny saw Mabel in her rocking chair, humming to her bees. The air shimmered oddly, like heat rising from pavement, and the bees swirled around her in a golden cloud. “Time to move on, my dears,” Mabel murmured, her voice soft as honey. “This town’s clean now. Plenty more weeds to pluck elsewhere.”
Jenny blinked, and the world seemed to shift. A mist rolled in, thick and glittering, swallowing the cottage. When it cleared, the garden was empty. The beehives were gone. Mabel was gone. Only a single jar of honey remained on the doorstep, labeled “For Jenny, with love.” Jenny, who’d once tattled on Mabel’s secret recipe to win a baking contest, felt her stomach lurch. She didn’t touch the jar.
By morning, Willowby buzzed with the news: Mabel had vanished. Some said she’d died, others that she’d moved to her sister’s in Cornwall. But Jenny, and a few sharp-eyed others, knew better. They pictured Mabel, her bees humming like a choir, drifting through the mist to some new town, some new garden. There’d be oleander blooming, and jars tied with ribbons, and richly deserving miscreants who’d soon learn what Mabel’s sweetness really meant.
In Willowby, life went on. The teashop stayed busy, the fences stayed white, and nobody died mysteriously anymore. But every so often, someone would find a wildflower on their doorstep, and they’d smile, thinking of Mabel. “Good luck to her,” they’d say, raising a teacup. “And good riddance to the rest.”
