BREAKING: Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Strikes Down California’s Ban on Open Carry – Trump Judge Issues Scathing Opinion

A US Appeals Court on Friday in a 2-1 decision struck down a California law banning people from openly carrying firearms.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals cited a 2022 Supreme Court ruling and said California’s ban on open carry is unconstitutional.

US Circuit Judge Lawrence VanDyke, a Trump appointee, wrote the majority opinion and blasted the state of California for banning open carry for 95% of its population.

California banned open carry on all counties with populations greater than 200,000 – which is 95% of the state.

In 2019, Mark Baid filed a lawsuit against the California Attorney General challenging the state’s ban on open carry.

Judge VanDyke, a known gun enthusiast, said California’ ban on open carry is unconstitutional.

“For most of American history, open carry has been the default manner of lawful carry for firearms. It remains the norm across the country—more than thirty states generally allow open carry to this day, including states with significant urban populations,” VanDyke wrote.

VanDyke said many states allow open carry and California has a history of open carry.

“Similarly, for the first 162 years of its history open carry was a largely unremarkable part of daily life in California. From 1850, when California first became a state, until the Mulford Act of 1967, public carry of firearms in California (open or concealed) was entirely unregulated. And when California first deviated (or considered deviating) from this practice, its reasons for doing so were less than morally exemplary,” VanDyke wrote.

“In our Nation’s history and tradition, open carry was widely recognized as being central to the Second Amendment right,” VanDyke added. “A ban on that which is at the core of the Second Amendment is not a ‘minimal burden’ on the Second Amendment right.”

This analysis is a good example of what has really been bugging me lately. It’s been one year. Trump II is in the process of paradigm-shifting victories on immigration, presidential control over the executive, and the enforcement of the CRA against the many illegalities of the racial reckoning. It has demonstrated willingness to cut higher Ed’s federal lifeline to force institutions to their knees.

It’s forced the legal definition of sex back into the law. It is rooting out billions in public support for the institutional leftist machine.

Progress in each of these areas is tangible, I can list cases, firings, funding cuts, and lawsuits, not just rhetoric.

And yet people whine because the world hasn’t been completely and utterly transformed in a mere 360ish days, and there’s still work left to do. What did you expect? 20M deportations overnight? Did it occur to you that that’s a massively difficult logistical feat to organize, and would take some time even if they WEREN’T fighting a recalcitrant system? Did you think there really was a fix everything switch?

Some parts of the “online right” have an even more magical view of governance than the oldhead Washington Generals chattering classes.

In my book, this administration has racked up more critically important wins than any R administration in my political memory, and I think the case can be made it’s the best R administration for the right in 100 years.

I find this crap interesting, perhaps hilarious.  As Both gold AND Silver are seriously on a rocket nearly vertical.

A bit on Finance & Economics

Gold & Silver have been on a bit of a rocket ride. I’ve been doing well, though a bit stressed over holding the position over the holiday market shutdowns. As a classic Short Squeeze, this WILL end badly… for someone. Hopefully not me 😉 Rumor is that several Name Banks decided to close out their short position which is why silver rapidly jumped from $60/oz to close over $72/oz. I think I bought in at about $50/oz.? as a rough average.

When will the short squeeze end? Don’t know. Several nations have shut off silver export, most notably China (who refines most of it). A few manufacturers have bought up all the physical they can (mostly solar panel makers that use a fair amount, and semiconductor makers like Samsung). COMEX has had a huge number of contracts not “roll over” but ask for physical at settlement – so the vaults are getting low. London Metals Exchange is rumored to be nearly out of metal and scrounging. We’ve used more than is mined each year for 5 years now…

Between a lot more demand by Gang Green Dreams, and inadequate supply, along with major players willing to work The Squeeze: I don’t see a quick end. There just isn’t the physical metal above ground to fill all the holes.

At some point, price will simply lock up the market. (It eventually becomes cheaper to NOT make solar panels and jewlery and electronics that will be sold at a loss due to the cost of the embedded silver…). I’m going to hold tight until mid January then evaluate again.

The USA economy is growing at over 4% (a lot of it medical care / expenses / insurance; but a lot not) while the UK & EU are shrinking and Russia is “off line” relative to The West. China is having ongoing deflation problems with continued real estate massive problems. Japan is doing OK, but with rising interest rates and a likely unwind of the Yen Carry Trade.

Overall, I continue to see the $US as “the best whore in the whore house” so not doing a lot to move into any other major currency (using Gold and Silver instead as an alternative store of value). So probably about a Break Even mix in real terms.

A Lot will hang on a few unknowns. Will Europe succeed in starting a Hot War with Russia? Will that then pull in the USA? How fast will the EU Economy collapse? (in progress now…). Will Right Wing Parties gain power in Europe? (They are leading in polls in many countries, but parliamentary maneuvers have been keeping them out of positions of authority). This will eventually change, but when?

So I’m just rigging for Rough Times and avoiding most risky things. The exception being riding the rocket ride in precious metals, and a few AI stocks. Yes, eventually it will crash, so get out on a 10%+ downturn, but don’t get off the rocket before the motor burns out 😉

The EU has decided to add more nails to their coffin. Promising to float a €90 Billion loan to Ukraine guaranteed by the EU Budget. To be repaid from non-existent “Russian Reparations” that will never exist as Russia is busy winning this war. So with no repayment possible, and with NO “maturity date” (‘when Russia loses’) just who would buy the bonds? Hmmm? WITH LUCK, nobody and the scheme will fail.

What it will do, IF any bonds are sold and money delivered: It will assure that the EU will fight tooth and nail to assure that the Ukraine War never ends in peace, since then no reparations will arrive and they will be on the hook for all the money. Perhaps that was the goal?…

The Ukraine Army continues to have Great Victories… every one closer to Kiev and with fewer soldiers left in their Army and less land under their control. /sarc;

Perhaps someday folks in the EU & UK can discover the joys of Reality Awareness and the vast improvement in the quality of decisions made when using facts based in reality rather than fantasies based in “The Narrative”…

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for Israeli Air Force pilots, Netanyahu said he approved, together with the defense and finance ministers, a NIS 350 billion (about $110 billion) multi-year plan aimed at ensuring Israel can arm itself independently while maintaining its battlefield edge.

“We will continue to acquire essential supplies while independently arming ourselves,” Netanyahu said. “I don’t know if a country can be completely independent, but we will strive to ensure our arms are produced as much as possible in Israel.”

The All-In podcast hosted a wonderful Christmas season event featuring comedian Tony Hinchcliffe with the hosts and guest presenting their “Bestie” awards, and a “Kill Tony” special.

The podcast, hosted by multi-millionaire venture capitalists David Sacks, David Friedberg, and Jason Calacanis, brought on Hinchcliffe to replace Chamath Palihapitiya, who was unable to make the show that night. And Hinchcliffe came out swinging in a fantastic roast of the billionaire hosts.

Hinchcliffe first took aim at the “shithole” San Francisco after taking the stage.

“You guys live here in San Francisco?” he asked the audience. “What. A. Shithole,” he added.

He went on to joke that San Francisco is “actually worse than a shithole” because it would be good to have an actual shithole to put all the shit that is covering the streets into. He then insisted that “a shithole would be an actual upgrade.”

Here Are Some New Trump Tax Breaks That Could Give Republicans an Advantage in the 2026 Midterm Elections

Several new tax breaks were signed into law this year by President Donald Trump that could help spark an economic boom, and with it, a Republican victory in the upcoming midterms.

These new rules were enacted through the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which the commander-in-chief heavily lobbied for, and will be available to people filing their taxes from 2026-2028.

First, Trump’s proposal of no tax on tips and overtime is sure to provide economic relief. The maximum deduction for tips is now $25,000, and the maximum deduction for overtime will be $12,500.

This will likely be very popular with middle-class earners. Nurses, trade workers, service industry employees, and others whose votes are crucial to Republican success will have more money in their pockets.

Another important voting bloc is seniors over 65, especially those who are in need of financial assistance. They are also set to benefit from the new deductions.

“Effective for 2025 through 2028, individuals who are age 65 and older may claim an additional deduction of $6,000,” the IRS website reads. “This new deduction is in addition to the current additional standard deduction for seniors under existing law.”

Western Civilization needs to have an honest conversation about Islam after Sunday’s deadly shooting at Australia’s Bondi Beach, as it is by no means a stand-alone affair.

Actor James Woods is someone who realizes this, as his Wednesday post on social media platform X showed. Woods noted that the shooters that day in Sydney, Australia, targeted Jews celebrating Hanukkah.

He also pointed to the genocide of Christians taking place in Nigeria.

The common thread, he pointed out, is Islamic terrorists.

“It isn’t just about who is being killed,” Woods wrote. “It’s more about who’s doing the killing. It is, of course, Islamic terrorism. The jihad to eradicate ‘infidels’ and occupy their nations is in full swing.

“The only way to stop it is to state the facts out loud. And the facts are that Islam is a plague intent on ending any semblance of civilization as the enlightened world now knows it.”

Woods is absolutely correct: These terrorists are not fringe actors or radicals; these are people following the dogma found in the Quran, which is clear in its call for Muslims to use violence in furtherance of their cause.

We do not have to live like this.

We do not have to keep importing and tolerating a flood of violent barbarians who have no interest in Western notions of tolerance.

Our systems and our outlook stand only as a means to power for the Muslim world.

The great Russian dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn spent eight years in the Gulag prison system for daring to speak out against Joseph Stalin. He once prophetically said, “One man who stopped lying could bring down a tyranny.”

Woods is one of those men.

The Religion of Peace counts almost 2,000 attacks by Muslims across nearly 50 countries, with over 13,000 dead and over 6,000 injured in 2025 alone.

It is time to stop this.

Millions are waking up. The Western world cannot tolerate these people any longer. We cannot afford to import people whose toxic politics masquerade as a faith.

That’ll offend every Muslim there, but it will also be a relief and give hope to many non-Muslims.

France, Australia, and Germany Have all Canceled New Years Celebrations – We All Know Why, But They’re Not Brave Enough to Tell Us

A beautiful and spectacular event, and it has all been canceled because the French government can no longer keep its own people safe from potential radical Islamic terrorists that they have welcomed into their country. The one in Germany, a Muslim cleric that left Egypt to move to Germany, moving to a country which tolerantly allows him to work at a mosque, to have a mosque. What does he do when he gets to Germany and he’s saved by the West? He begins indoctrinating other Muslims to murder as many Christians as they possibly can. Going to a German Christmas market at this point is a bit like playing Russian roulette.

Is today Can you say the day that one of our asylum seekers, living off our tax dollars, is going to plow his car through this market and kill 20 of us? We don’t know. In Australia, where 16 were murdered on a beach this past Sunday, many say that they have felt the threat skyrocket as their own government imported tens of thousands of migrants from Muslim countries.

Investigators said the suspects self-identified as members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front, described as pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government. Prosecutors allege the group planned coordinated improvised explosive device attacks at five locations around Los Angeles at midnight on New Year’s Eve, including two U.S. companies.

Authorities said Carroll authored an “Operation Midnight Sun” document detailing the plot, bomb-making instructions, and methods to avoid detection. Investigators also allege the group recruited others, gathered materials, and conducted a test in the Mojave Desert on December 12 before being arrested. If convicted, the defendants face up to 15 years in federal prison.

The next signs of the nation’s political divide might be jingling in your pocket next year.

  • The administration plans to issue a $1 coin with President Donald Trump’s likeness on it next year, despite a century-old precedent of not honoring sitting, or even living former, presidents on coins.
  • Instead of quarters honoring the abolition of slavery, granting women the right to vote and the Civil Rights movement, the Treasury will instead issue historical quarters featuring white men from the 18th and 19th centuries who were already well represented on currency and in historical tributes.

The new coins, coming after the administration stopped issuing new pennies earlier this year, underscore Trump’s drive to put his own stamp on the presidency far beyond the confines of the White House – whether it’s by putting his own face and name on US institutions or by pulling back on diversity efforts to reframe the story of America itself.

The US Mint on Thursday released the final coin designs for historical quarters celebrating the country’s 250th birthday next year. Rather than the fight against slavery or giving women the vote, the designs primarily honored a more homogeneous view of US history: George Washington for the Revolutionary War, Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence, James Madison and the Constitution, Abraham Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address, as well as pilgrims to celebrate the Mayflower Compact.

“The designs on these historic coins depict the story of America’s journey toward a ‘more perfect union,’ and celebrate America’s defining ideals of liberty,” said Kristie McNally, the acting director of the Mint, in a statement.

The US Mint told CNN on Friday that instead of the previously recommended tribute quarters to abolition, suffrage and the Civil Rights movement, the new designs celebrate “American history and the founding of our great nation.”

The Trump dollar

The controversial Trump dollar coin is also part of Treasury’s plan to mark America’s 250th birthday.

The US Mint issued three different proposed coins Thursday with different likenesses of Trump, including one resembling his famous mug shot from 2023. Designs for the back include different versions of the American eagle.

A previously released version of coin would have also featured Trump on the back, raising his fist after an assassination attempt last year. However, US law prohibits images of living people on the backs of coins. The US Mint told CNN there is no such restriction on the front of coins, though it’s been US law since 1866 that living people can’t be on paper currency.

Still, Trump’s coin will only be the second time a US coin features a living president. The first was a half-dollar coin with both George Washington and then-President Calvin Coolidge issued in 1926 to mark the country’s 150th anniversary.

These days, we’re heading for an infotainment implosion.  Even though we have all the world’s knowledge at our fingertips, many fail to grasp its meaning and importance, much less read past the headline and, at best, the first paragraph.  Meanwhile, we’re letting machines do our thinking for us.

Glenn Beck’s new A.I. project is meant to get ahead of the curve, and it’s laudable in all its goals.  But there is also a vital function that cannot be neglected: archiving and storing away the facts and data of our society.  At present, these critical functions are performed by entities such as the Internet Archive, doing a yeoman’s job at storing away these irreplaceable records.  They’ve come under attack recently and have had some breakdowns that point to a need for a separate system that performs the same function, albeit from a conservative point of view.  Thus, this is our case for Glenn Beck and everyone else to support a Freedom Archive.

Multiple systems are better than one or two.

Most preppers can recite the rule of three: “Three is two, two is one, and one is none.”  In other words, you need to have a couple of back-ups for every primary system that you rely on — water, food, self-defense, etc.  The same holds true in storing information.

In engineering terms, you don’t want to have one failure mode that will lead to disaster.

I have traveled extensively in Europe, and while it may be the modern world, Europeans are vastly more hung up on matters of economic and social class, titles of nobility, differences in ethnicity and differences in race than America is. Despite its long history of attempting to be egalitarian, class still matters in Europe. Titles of nobility still matter. Generational wealth from centuries back still matters. Look at the stiffs in the photo. How many of them earned it? Americans of European descent escaped Europe to get away from that ossified class structure and to make their own way with unlimited opportunity, and that vision still separates us from Europe culturally and intellectually. In the movie “Gettysburg,” Jeff Daniels—playing Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain—delivered an amazing soliloquy, an excerpt of which goes like this: “America should be free ground — all of it. Not divided by a line between slave state and free — all the way, from here to the Pacific Ocean. No man has to bow. No man born to royalty. Here, we judge you by what you do, not by who your father was. Here, you can be something. Here, is the place to build a home. But it’s not the land. There’s always more land. It’s the idea that we all have value — you and me.”

Fair Disclosure: I have about 10% to 15% of my net worth in gold and silver. A relatively normal level of “hedging the currency and inflation rate” holding. I’d have done much better over the last year with a higher level of holdings in precious metals. But I’ve done OK.

Realize that metals markets are very VOLATILE and can move against you, by a lot, in a single day. In my opinion, their best use is as a very long term hedge against buggery of the currency (that is almost guaranteed if history is any guide. The $US today is worth about 1 ¢ on the $ of what it was on the gold standard (when I was working in my parent’s restaurant and we had real silver money…)

“The Government of Canada has requested to buy up to seven hundred fifty (750) GBU-39 practice bombs inert with fuzes; up to one hundred (100) GBU-39 Guided Test Vehicles (GTVs); up to one hundred (100) MK-82 inert filled bombs; up to two hundred twenty (220) 2,000-lb BLU-117 General Purpose (GP) bombs; up to one hundred forty-six (146) I-2000 penetrator warheads; up to three thousand four hundred fourteen (3,414) BLU-111 500-lb GP bombs; up to three thousand one hundred eight (3,108) GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb Increment I (SDB-I) bombs; up to five thousand three hundred thirty-two (5,352) KMU-572 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance sets; up to three hundred ninety-six (396) KMU-556 JDAM guidance sets; up to one hundred forty (140) KMU-557 JDAM guidance sets; up to two thousand four (2,004) GBU-53 SDBs – Increment II (SDB-II); and up to one hundred (100) GBU-53 SDB-II GTVs,” the release revealed.

“The following non-MDE items will also be included: FMU-139 fuze systems; FMU-167 Hard Target Void Sensing Fuzes (HTVSF); DSU-38 laser illuminated target detectors for GBU-54; practice bombs; ammunition tools and special equipment; major and minor modifications equipment; spare and repair parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; weapons and weapon support equipment; test equipment; training aids, devices, and spare parts; classified and unclassified software and software support; classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation; U.S. Government and contractor technical, engineering, and logistics personnel services; and other related elements of logistics and program support.”

Canadian Defense Minister David J. McGuinty also announced their separate purchase of “critical military capabilities sourced from the United States,” totaling approximately $500 million, which will eventually be sent to Ukraine.

Several high-profile Minnesota Democrats have been linked to campaign donations totaling over $53,000 from individuals involved in the Somalian scams, one of the largest welfare fraud scandals in U.S. history.

The Minnesota Somali community’s scheme centered around the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, siphoned off approximately $250 million in federal taxpayer funds intended to feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic, but were instead used for luxury purchases like mansions and high-end shopping sprees.

The total fraud, including state payments, may reach $1 billion.

There is currently a federal investigation that has already indicted 75 people, with more than half pleading guilty to charges including wire fraud and bribery.

According to a report from the New York Post, as Minnesota’s top law enforcement officer, Attorney General Keith Ellison received $10,000 from businessmen linked to the scandal. This included three $2,500 donations on the same day following a 2021 meeting with Somali business leaders, two of whom later became criminal defendants.

It now appears that the six lawmakers have been found to have been heavily involved in money laundering. Investigative Reporter/Citizen Journalist, Bob Cushman, has just released an FEC data analysis that strongly suggests that Mark Kelly, Elissa Slotkin, Jason Crow, Chris Deluzio, Chrissy Houlahan, and Maggie Goodlander have been recipients of illegally laundered campaign funds.

In the initial investigation, Cushman cites 22 Smurf examples that have “allegedly” contributed almost three million dollars in more than 95,000 separate donations to Democratic coffers.

All six members of the Seditious Six have received funds from one or more of these “smurfs”.

Democrat Colorado Governor Affirms He Will Not Move Tina Peters to Federal Custody

Colorado’s governor will not allow Tina Peters to be moved from Colorado State to Federal custody per a request from the Trump Administration. 

Tina Peters was sentenced to prison in Colorado for doing her job after the 2020 Election.  She maintained records from the 2020 Election, and when she identified discrepancies in results before and after an election system update, she was imprisoned for 9 years.

It was Peters state and federal duty to maintain accurate records.  This is what she did, and the corrupt actors in the state of Colorado imprisoned her for it.

A local Colorado publication reported this week:

The office of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis affirmed this week a decision by state prison officials not to fulfill a request by the Trump administration to transfer custody of Tina Peters from the state to federal authorities.

Peters, the former Republican Mesa County clerk, is serving a 9-year prison sentence for her role in a scheme to breach the security of her own election equipment. President Donald Trump has repeatedly demanded that she be released.

The director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons sent a letter to the Colorado Department of Corrections last month requesting that the state “initiate the transfer” of Peters to the bureau.

“Requests to transfer inmates from the Colorado Department of Corrections emanate from the state, and not from other entities. The state has not made any requests to transfer this inmate,” Shelby Wieman, a Polis spokesperson, said in a text to Newsline.

President Donald Trump and his allies have ramped up the political pressure on those who oppose or are undecided on redistricting, threatening to back primary opponents even though many senators aren’t up for reelection until 2028. It never found a single bigcoin and that likely colored my opinions. I personally find the idea of “digital assets” foreign. I prefer gold, silver, and platinum (natures limited assets 😉 and they have done well for me. BUT: I missed the entire Bitcoin ramp from about 25¢ per coin to now about $100,000 (modulo swings of 50%).

Do I regret it? Nope. There is no inherent value in Bitcoin or any other artificial scarcity “asset”. Like cards for “Magic the gathering” it is a social construct, not a real thing. I have a blindness to that. Just can’t get interested in things that are “social constructs” as I am obligatory Reality Centered. Yes, you can make a lot of money out of the idiocy of it; but I can’t and won’t. I see it as an entirely artificial construct from the start and “just can’t go there” due to the risk of people just changing their minds about it.

So no, I don’t “endorse” this guy. BUT he does give me insight into “them” and their behaviours.

He’s a hard core bit coin advocate and at about 18 minutes pushes a “digital wallet”. Whatever. His observations about Chase bank and Mr. Diamond are interesting and likely have some worth. To what extent is our world owned and manipulated by TLAs? Things to ponder.

Texas Takes First Step Toward State Bitcoin Reserve with $5 Million ETF Purchase

Texas has invested $5 million in a bitcoin ETF as an initial move toward establishing the first state-based crypto reserve in the U.S.

CoinDesk reports that Texas has purchased $5 million worth of shares in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) exchange-traded fund (ETF). The investment, confirmed by a spokesman for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, serves as a placeholder as the state continues working toward directly holding bitcoin in its own reserve.

The purchase comes after Texas passed legislation earlier this year, appropriating $10 million to fund the creation of a state-managed bitcoin stockpile, known as the Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. As part of the process, Texas recently concluded an information-gathering phase, soliciting input from the crypto industry on best practices for implementing and managing such a reserve.

While Texas is not the first state entity to invest government funds in a crypto-based ETF, with states like Michigan and Wisconsin having previously allocated pension fund money to similar investments, it marks a significant step toward a state directly holding and managing its own cryptocurrency reserve.

President Donald Trump has announced that South Africa will not receive an invitation to the 2026 G20 Summit, which is set for December in Miami, Florida, at his Trump National Doral resort.

Trump tied this to the U.S. boycott of the 2025 G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, over human rights abuses against White Afrikaner farmers, including killings and land seizures. Additionally, he accused South Africa of refusing to hand over G20 presidency responsibilities to a U.S. Embassy representative.

“At my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year. South Africa has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of Membership anywhere,” Trump wrote on Truth Social platform on Friday.

Russia Unable to Send Astronauts to Space for First Time Since 1961 

Damage to a Russian launch site has stopped Moscow from sending people into space for the first time in over six decades, it has been reported. 

Moscow’s space agency Roscosmos said that Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan had sustained damage during a launch on Thursday carrying Russian and American astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).  

But Russian space bloggers said the damage to Russia’s only launch site for crewed missions was more serious than authorities were claiming.

FIRST ON 7: Nearly 400 gallons of fuel dumped into wrong home with no oil tank in Medford

MEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) – Hazmat crews were called to a home in Medford Monday after an oil delivery driver dumped 383 gallons of heating oil into a home that had a fill pipe but no oil tank, according to officials.

Officials said the Fawcett Oil delivery driver went to the right address, but in the wrong city. Instead of going to 48 Linwood Street in Malden, he went to 48 Linwood Street in Medford.

Fire officials said the driver attached the hose to the fillup pipe on the side of the house, but that pipe was not connected to any oil tanks — so 383 gallons of oil ended up in the home’s basement.

“Oil delivery driver pulled up to the wrong address,” said Medford Deputy Fire Chief Nick Davis. “Put 385 gallons of oil into a basement with no oil tank.”

Residents of the two family home quickly evacuated and the area was sealed off.

“It smelled very bad,” said Dang Nguyen, the homeowner. “Even, you know, I’m living in the second floor and I smell. I came home and came in to drop something off and it smelled very bad.”

Crews began cleanup using shovels and speedy dry. They first tried to contain then remove the oil with the Department of Environmental Protection on the scene.

Placing the wisdom to own metals, aside, for a moment.  Discussed many months, perhaps a year ago. 

How or where to hold the metals comes with a few choices.  Three of them are:

  1. Hold physical metals at home, bank safe deposit box…
  2. Pay someone to hold (safekeep) owned metals.  (Trust someone you’ve never met)
  3. Or, essentially have a piece of paper, saying the purchaser owns, or is owed  XX amount of metal, gold, silver, etc. 

Two and three, IMO, obviously recipes for FAILURE.  There is no guarantee, metal will be provided, “on demand”. 

Whether the metals “physical issue on demand” is based in London, the US, or anywhere, really does not matter.  The concept is FUBAR from its inception.  MeThinks.

There’s Billions of ounces being traded against Millions of inventory. Most folks are doing cash settlement, but… it doesn’t take much of a “glitch” of extra folks choosing “delivery” for things to go sideways fast.

In other news: COMEX Commodities Exchange does a lot of futures and options contracts. As of now, the SPOT price (for “right now on the spot!”) is higher than the price in futures contracts. This is backwards from The Usual expected state (contango) which it ought to be. Why? Because to guarantee delivery at a future time, somebody has to hold the commodity in inventory, which has a cost, and must have money tied up in that inventory, which means not getting the bank interest you could get by leaving the money in the bank.

The spouse, her twin, and a couple of their kids all have had migraine issues from time to time. They have since abated even if not totally gone ( the son used Imatrix to good effect, IIRC).

In the video below, the presenter says that use of NAC Suppliment helped her reduce her migraine frequency a lot, in conjunction with some other dietary suppliments.

In addition to that “testimonial”, the spouse has had significant effect on some inflammatory issues she is dealing with (joint pains & arthritis mostly).

I’ve not noticed as much, partly because I don’t have as much of an issue I think…, but it has improved “mood” and overall energy levels (very subjective, I know).

There are also a lot of medical studies to back up the positive effects in a variety of illnesses as an adjunct.

Six Democrats in a YouTube video have urged military members to refuse illegal orders!

The posting advises military members to go ahead and decide their own law.  If you feel that something is unjust, if you believe that some order conflicts with the Constitution, take it upon yourself to commit a crime under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 92 of the UCMJ criminalizes “failure to obey an order or regulation.”  This congressional advice is unconscionable.  These six Democrats failed to mention the disastrous life impact upon any service member who may choose to follow it.

Let me provide any tempted service members a little supplemental information.  I reviewed hundreds of court-martial records as a military JAG officer.  All orders from a superior are legally presumed to be lawful.  Your opinion about whether an order is legal is irrelevant.  If you defy them, you go to the brig and await trial.  Your command may instead opt to simply administratively separate (“AdSep”) you for misconduct for the convenience of the government.

Many years ago as a young Army captain I was fortunate enough to serve as an intern on the Joint Staff (i.e., the staff that supports the Joint Chiefs of Staff).

One of the duties all Joint Staff interns routinely had was to be a “rent-a-crowd” for VIPs giving speeches.

One day me and my buddy Werner got the order to put on our Class A uniforms and head over to Fort McNair to hear a speech by President Bill Clinton.

Little did we know that we were about to hear the historic “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” speech allowing gays in the military.

I was literally in the second row in the auditorium. David Gergen and George Stephanopoulos were in the front row right in front of me. Before the speech started, the two of them were laughing and cackling like school girls over how successful they had been at setting up the imaging they wanted.

That imaging was Slick Willie at the podium with the Joint Chiefs of Staff sitting behind him, as if they supported what he was about to say.

I was about twenty feet from General Carl Mundy, who was then the Commandant of the Marine Corps. As Clinton started giving the speech that would begin the U.S. military’s death spiral into social experimentation that valued DEI over lethality, my eyes were riveted on Mundy. He sat perfectly motionless in his chair, legs spread, hands on knees, with a look on his face that said “Daggers.” He was apparently frozen and motionless. However, I was close enough to see that he was actually flexing his jaw muscles and gritting his teeth repeatedly as he endured Clinton’s speech.

His anger was palpable. He had been on record as strongly opposing the new policy, and it was obvious he was doing everything he could to control his emotions.

But you know what? As badly as Mundy obviously hated what Clinton was doing to his Marine Corps, he knew that Clinton’s order was lawful. While he hated it politically, he did not pretend the order was “unlawful.”

But not just Mundy.

ALL OF US hated the order politically and socially, but all of us knew it was a lawful order coming from the President and that it was our Constitutional duty to execute that order to the best of our abilities, enthusiastically.

So we did.

But somewhere along the way today’s cretinous veteran Democrats in Congress decided that they would no longer do the right thing that we and Mundy did.

They decided that lawful orders are “unlawful” if they disagree politically.

Now they are destroying our military and our nation out of sheer disloyal, treasonous ego.

Pretending that lawful orders are “unlawful” if you disagree politically is not the role of a U.S. service member who follows his or her oath of office.

Encouraging troops to take such steps is sedition.

Democrats need to step back and remember what General Carl Mundy knew before they start their second U.S. civil war.

Back off, traitors.

Housing news out of, Great Falls, Montana.

I just visited a shop class in Great Falls, Montana where high school students are building houses for people who need a place to call home.

Let that sink in for a moment.

High schoolers in Great Falls Montana, under the guidance of an excellent shop instructor and lots of community support, are building actual houses. Not birdhouses or doll houses – real homes, built to code from the ground up for real people, and move-in ready.

Yesterday, I toured the latest home these kids are in the process of building. It’s the 48th such home built since 1998, through this remarkable program. While I was there, I ran into @GregForMontana. Like me, the Governor was blown away by what these kids were doing and took the time to talk to each one of them, thanking them for their hard work and congratulating them for what they’d accomplished. I was then invited to join the Governor on stage at Great Falls High, where I answered a few questions about mikeroweWORKS, talked about the many opportunities in the skilled trades, and discussed the ways we might be able to encourage more projects like this one, in Montana and beyond.

It’s encouraging to see public/private partnerships done right. And really, it’s not that complicated; it just takes a few stubborn people in various organizations who won’t take no for an answer. In this case, too many to name, but a quick shout out to Pete Pace, the shop teacher at the center of High School Homes, the administrators in the school district, the principal at Great Falls High, Sherrie Arey and her devoted crew at @neighborworks, the incredibly generous executives at @WellsFargowho offered another round of financial support, and a Governor with the good sense to push through the normal bureaucratic nonsense that kills programs like this. Bravo to all!

PS. This is the third time in two months I’ve seen a program like this in action. The first was in Western North Carolina, (Rebuilding the Hollars), the second was in New Orleans, (@uCCNOLA.) The projects all have one thing in common – a shop class with an exceptional instructor. Like I said, it takes support from every direction, but a high school shop class is always where it starts.

For years, I’ve argued that removing shop class from high schools was a mistake that would deny a whole generation of students’ critical exposure to a long list of essential careers and rob them of an opportunity to prepare for the all-important apprenticeships on which most skilled careers are built. Today, standing in the shop class at Great Falls, watching dozens of engaged students cutting, hammering, measuring, and fabricating, it occurred to me that I was wrong. Taking shop class out of high school was not merely a mistake – it was the single dumbest decision in the history of modern education. We didn’t just rob a whole generation of students, we robbed ourselves, in a colossal, self-inflicted wound that’s led directly to a host of unintended consequences – including the current shortages in every essential skilled trade.

Correcting it, should be at or near the top of every Governor’s agenda in every single state. Because tomorrow’s skilled workforce is currently in the 8th grade, and if we don’t meet these kids where they are – right now – with programs like this, we’re in for a world of hurt.

Building Rail to Bypass Sanctions & Venezuela buddies up with Russia

A little while ago, I’d posted that EwTube was becoming unusable for me as a “news” source, or even just for keeping tabs on what was the topic of the day. Here I’m going to present 2 examples of “the problem”. Sites where I “clicked” on the click bait like thumbnail, and DID get what I was interested in; BUT where the whole ambiance, content, and site looks to me like “A.I. For Effect”.

But who’s benefit? Who is driving the agenda?

A Little Obvious Pro China Agenda?

This first example is in some ways easiest to demonstrate. Named “4 Daily Mews”, I’ve run into it a couple of times. The latest was about the Polish block on Chinese rail to Europe crossing from Russia via Belarus. I’ve included that video below. When you look at the site on EwTube, you find that pretty much every video is about China and with a pro-China bias. Then notice that it puts out about a dozen videos a day. No single person, or even a small group of people, could do that without an A.I. “helper”.

So my strongest suspicion is that this is a Chinese Government Information Operation to promote “China Issues” to the American audience, and secondarily to the Anglosphere in general. So first check out this link to their videos and just look at all the Pro-China 12 a day thumbnails.

So that’s one of my basic checks on any channel. What is the thrust of it, or the bias if you will, and what is the volume.

Then looking at any one video, I look for “A.I. Artifacts”. This will get harder over time as the tech matures; but for now, there are a few simple to spot things. In this Train Video, for example, there is a lack of geographical awareness of details.

A border crossing with English signs and US type cars that looks a LOT like a US / Canada border crossing, when talking about Belarus / Poland borders?

The gauge of the tracks wobbles between “standard gauge” (the skinny 4′ and a bit) and Confederate / Russian gauge (5 foot). Then some trains are clearly European type, others not so much.

Some have catenary electric power (like near the end at 20:43) which is not used in continental cross country lines and only used in the USA for local trolleys and such). Not a lot of electric generation in the middle of rural Siberia…

And then there is the repetitiveness. A.I. tends to repeat after a while. Usually about 1/2 way through the story. This one not as much as the next one; but still it starts to feel like “I’ve heard that already”. And you get a LOT of images somewhat disjoint from “the message”. A pan of what looks like a random European City skyline while talking about freight volume levels increasing? Random shots of rail yards, one at a port with cranes over a waterway (12:44) when talking about an overland route from China to Europe? All just “a little off” as context.

Then there’s the tendency to pronounce dates as numbers… 2008 isn’t “Twenty Twenty Eight” but “2 Thousand and Eight”… or 1969 becomes One Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty Nine (as made up examples). Seen in most A.I. videos that have dates in them.

Also, eventually the ear becomes attuned to The Voices. There are a few that are used across many different A.I. videos from many makers. You start to think: “Who is that, I’ve heard him before”… Note that the next video has a different speaker, one with a sort-of Hispanic lilt… BTW, as a lip reader (due to deafness, profound at one point but now better) I especially notice when they show a “speaker” and the lips are not quite right for the speech…

First off, this site has all of 3 videos up, and not much else. The “about” listing is sparse, saying it has been “up” since July 26, 2022, yet the only videos are from yesterday (2) and today (one hour ago). Highly suspicious. Like maybe something was banked or repurposed?

A search on “Nadikudi Nadine” only finds a railway station in India…

and the name in general doesn’t fit any pattern I recognize from several languages & cultures. Just seems a bit artificial somehow. It could be that his parents had a strange sense of humor (it happens), but… And then the channel handle “@TheGlobalShift-e1w” seems very artificial and is disconnected to the name “Nadikudi Nadine”. Most folks don’t do that…

Then the videos have the same “look”: Close up on one guy, same “clothes” and background. The hand gestures seem to repeat at odd times and be almost exactly the same in placement, duration, and seem artificial.

Again we have the Issue With Numbers, and occasional odd pauses and inflections. A not quite right “accent” to the ethnicity map of the voice. Lips not quite right for sync to the sounds.

Also, the use of a fake “chyron” in the thumbnail. Especially CNN or Fox. I’ve started to become sensitized to that as a fake indicator. Any chyron needs to match the channel name / owner.

FWIW, I tend to agree with the messages in both of these videos. I think they are much more in line with the reality of the world that I understand than is the crap in the TLA influenced MSM of The West. As propaganda goes, I’d rate their operation as better than ours in The West.

BUT…

I don’t want to be cannon fodder in the field of battle between two different Propaganda Batteries of fire. I want simple honesty and truthful reporting, NOT from an A.I. generated script made by an Agency Prompt.

That is becoming harder to find, wasting my time, and forcing me into this kind of analysis of ANY source I run into. I resent it. I’m getting tired of seeing a 1/2 hour of repetitive and barely relevant images randomly pasted over the top of a wandering PR Script, stuffed sometimes with EwTube commercials.

Which, BTW, has me wondering to what extent Google is using their own A.I. to generate some classes of channels to create their own “Click Bait” and gather in 100% of the ad revenue… Paranoia is sometimes your friend when it keeps you out of trouble, but sometimes dreams up threat scenarios that are not real… But, who knows in this case.

So that’s a little trip down my daily “Anything new today?” morning videos over coffee routine; that has turned into “how do I know this is real at all?” lately; and workload to vet some of it.

Building Rail to Bypass Sanctions

The International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is happening now. Connecting Russia to Iran by railroad. Then via ships to India. Bypassing naval choke points and sanctions regimes.

Extensions (eventually, maybe) to China Belt & Road locations, and potentially through Afghanistan (and some of the other *stans) to China as well.

Cutting transit times by 40% and costs by 30%. And avoiding Western Influence & Sanctions & Money.

Forcing the East & Global South & Russia into a shunned status has not only created BRICS+ and the Multipolar world; but is also pushing the creation of “bypasses” to all financial and transport & trade systems of The West. Rejecting 1/2 of the world will not work well for The West (USA, EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada; honorary mention Japan).

As this BRICS+ Block integrates, it will become one of the most powerful and influential blocks in the global future. Europe is already in dramatic decline (with Germany almost in economic collapse; and Germany is the financial cash cow that had paid for the rest of the EU… ). Demographics is also working against The West with most of Europe and the USA very top heavy with Old Retired Folks ( I am one ) and light on new births of new productive workers to pay the retirement bills.

As this transport system rolls out, connecting the BRICS+ nations together will also attract their neighbors to join in too. Shifting Russia from their desire to integrate with Europe (Putin in about 1998-9 asked to join NATO…) and into an Asian focus was likely the worst possible thing to do for The West.

Imagine for a moment a world where post USSR, we had invited Russia into The West. There would be an economic union spanning from the Atlantic to the Pacific across Eurasia, and then across north America back to the UK again. That is what we have thrown away via Russia Paranoia and TLA (Three Letter Agency) activism.

Instead we have the USA squandering $Trillions over the years on military adventures, Europe economically on the ropes via shunning low cost and plentiful Russian oil, gas, grain, timber & minerals. With Russia, China and increasingly India; becoming an integrated economic Eurasian Powerhouse. Good luck with that…

It seems that when you bully and piss on folks long enough, they don’t want to do business with you anymore and find other folks to work with. Free markets are like that, and when someone tries to enforce Monopolistic Abusive Policy long enough, folks get motivated to build an alternative.

Here’s a very useful video from the perspective of India on all of this. A pretty good economic and political analysis that also includes a sense of the annoyance people (and countries via their leadership) can have when others attempt to manipulate and dominate them, along with some history. Something to keep in mind in the present mode of manipulation and domination via tariffs & sanctions…

Note that in addition to rail through Azerbaijan there’s a water link through the Caspian Sea. So even destabilizing Azerbaijan (as the TLAs will want to try) can not stop this system from working. Also note the statement that Moscow is paying for most of this – Russia has plenty of money in their economy. The “economic sanctions war” is a failed approach.

Maybe, just maybe: The West would make better progress by respecting other countries and being their friends and partners, instead of the current approach of “piss & vinegar” sanctions and berating. More honey and kind words, more respect for sovereign nations and less “regime change” to impose despised “leaders”…

But having burned all those bridges already, I suspect it is a bit late to start trying to rebuild them.

It doesn’t just check how well a model predicts the next frame or maximizes reward it tests whether it can build an internal model of reality and use it to handle new situations.

They built AutumnBench 43 interactive worlds, 129 tasks where AIs must:

• Predict hidden parts of the world (masked-frame prediction)

• Plan sequences of actions to reach a goal

• Detect when the environment’s rules suddenly change

Then they tested 517 humans vs. Claude, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and o3.

Humans crushed every model. Even massive compute scaling barely helped.

The takeaway is wild.. today’s AIs don’t understand environments; they just pattern-match inside them.

They don’t explore strategically, revise beliefs, or run experiments like humans do.

WorldTest might be the first benchmark that actually measures understanding, not memorization.

The gap it reveals isn’t small it’s the next grand challenge in AI cognition.
