2024·06·22 Joe Biden Didn’t Win Daily Thread

What is it that feeds our battle, yet starves our victory?

January 6 Tapes?

Paging Speaker Johnson…this is your conscience calling you out on broken promises.

For all your high talk about your Christian moral background…you’re looking less and less like you have any kind of moral background.

If You are a Patriot and Don’t Loathe RINOs…

Let’s talk about RINOs, and why they are the lowest form of life in politics.

Many patriots have been involved with politics, often at the grassroots, for decades. We’ve fought, and fought, and fought and won the occasional illusory small victory.

Yet we can’t seem to win the war, even when we have BIG electoral wins.

I am reminded of something. The original Star Trek had an episode titled Day of the Dove. It was one of the better episodes from the third season, but any fan of the original series will tell you that’s a very low bar. Still, it seems to get some respect; at a time when there were about 700 episodes of Star Trek in its various incarnations out there, it was voted 99th best out of the top 100.

In sum, the plot is that an alien entity has arranged for 39 Enterprise crew, and 39 Klingons, to fight each other endlessly with swords and other muscle-powered weapons. The entity lives off of hostile emotions, you see and it wants a captive food source. (The other 400 or so Enterprise crew are trapped below decks and unable to help.) Each side has its emotions played and amplified by the alien entity; one Enterprise junior officer has false memories implanted of a brother who was killed by Klingons. The brother didn’t even exist.

Even people killed in a sword fight miraculously heal so they can go do it again.

The second best line of the episode is when Kang, the Klingon captain, notes that though they have won quite a number of small victories including capturing Engineering, can’t seem to actually finally defeat the Enterprise crew. He growls, “What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*”

Indeed. He may have been the bad guy, but his situation should sound familiar.

We are a majority in this country. We have a powerful political party in our corner. There is endless wrangling.

And yet,

What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?

In our case, that power is the RINOs in our midst. They specialize in caving when on the verge of victory. Think of Obamacare’s repeal failing…by one Republican vote. Think of the way we can never seem to get spending under control (and now our entire tax revenue goes to pay interest on the debt; anything the government actually does now is with borrowed money).

We have a party…that refuses to do what we want it to do, and that refusal is institutionalized. If you’ve been involved with GOP politics, but haven’t seen this, it’s because you refuse to see it. Or because you are part of the problem yourself. (If so, kindly gargle some red fuming nitric acid to clear the taste of shit out of your mouth, and let those not part of the problem alone so they can read this.)

We fight to elect people, who then take a dive when in office. But it’s not just the politicians in office, it’s the people behind the scenes, the leaders of the national, state and county branches of the party. Their job is to ensure that real patriots never get onto the general election ballot. They’re allowed a few failures…who can then become token conservatives who will somehow never manage to win (Jordan), or can be compromised outright (Lauren Boebert?).

That way it doesn’t actually matter who has a congressional majority. I remember my excitement when the GOP took the Senate in 1980. But all that did was empower a bunch of “moderate” puddles of dog vomit like…well for whatever reason forty years later the most memorable name is Pete Domenici. And a couple of dozen other “moderates” who simply had no interest in doing what grassroots people in their party–those same grassroots people who had worked so hard to elect them–wanted them to do.

Oh, they’ll put up a semblance of a fight…but never win. And they love it when we fight the Dems instead of fighting them. Just like that alien entity, whose motto surely was “Let’s you and him fight. It’ll be delicious!”

If you think about it, your entire political involvement has come to nothing because of these walking malignant tumors.

That should make you good and mad.

The twenty five who blocked Jordan, and the hundred people who took that opportunity to stab Jordan in the back in the secret ballot should make you good and mad.

I’ll close this with another example of RINO backstabbing, an infuriating one close to home.

In my county, the GOP chair is not a RINO. She got elected when the grassroots had had enough of the RINOs. Unfortunately the state organization is full of RINOs, and the ousted county RINOs have been trying to form a new “Republican Party” and get the state GOP to recognize them as the affiliate. I’m honestly amazed it hasn’t happened yet.

In other words those shitstains won’t just leave when they get booted out; they’ll try to destroy what they left behind. It’s an indication that they know we know how important that behind-the-scenes party power is.

So they must be destroyed. That’s the only way they’ll ever stop.

We cannot win until the leeches “on our side” get destroyed.

What power is it that feeds our battle yet starves our victory?*

We know it. What is going to be done about it?

*NOTE: The original line was actually “What power is it that supports our battle yet starves our victory.” I had mis-remembered it as feeds. When I checked it, it sure enough was “supports” and that’s what I originally quoted. On further reflection, though, I realized my memory was actually an improvement over the reality, because feeds is a perfect contrast with starves. I changed it partway through the day this originally posted, but now (since this is a re-run) it gets rendered this way from the start.

If one must do things wrong, one should do them wrong…right.

RINOs an Endangered Species?
If Only!

According to Wikipoo, et. al., the Northern White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum cottoni) is a critically endangered species. Apparently two females live on a wildlife preserve in Sudan, and no males are known to be alive. So basically, this species is dead as soon as the females die of old age. Presently they are watched over by armed guards 24/7.

Biologists have been trying to cross them with the other subspecies, Southern White Rhinoceroses (Rhinoceri?) without success; and some genetic analyses suggest that perhaps they aren’t two subspecies at all, but two distinct species, which would make the whole project a lot more difficult.

I should hope if the American RINO (Parasitus rectum pseudoconservativum) is ever this endangered, there will be heroic efforts not to save the species, but rather to push the remainder off a cliff. Onto punji sticks. With feces smeared on them. Failing that a good bath in red fuming nitric acid will do.

But I’m not done ranting about RINOs.

The RINOs (if they are capable of any introspection whatsoever) probably wonder why they constantly have to deal with “populist” eruptions like the Trump-led MAGA movement. That would be because the so-called populists stand for absolutely nothing except for going along to get along. That allows the Left to drive the culture and politics.

Given the results of our most recent elections, the Left will now push harder, and the RINOs will now turn even squishier than they were before.

I well remember 1989-1990 in my state when the RINO establishment started preaching the message that a conservative simply couldn’t win in Colorado. Never mind the fact that Reagan had won the state TWICE (in 1984 bringing in a veto-proof state house and senate with him) and GHWB had won after (falsely!) assuring everyone that a vote for him was a vote for Reagan’s third term.

This is how the RINOs function. They push, push, push the line that only a “moderate” can get elected. Stomp them when they pull that shit. Tell everyone in ear shot that that’s exactly what the Left wants you to think, and oh-by-the-way-Mister-RINO if you’re in this party selling the same message as the Left…well, whythefuckexactly are you in this party, you lying piece of rancid weasel shit?

Justice

It says “Justice” on the picture.

And I’m sure someone will post the standard joke about what the fish thinks about the situation.

But what is it?

Here’s a take, from a different context: It’s about how you do justice, not the justice that must be done to our massively corrupt government and media. You must properly identify the nature of a person, before you can do him justice.

Ayn Rand, On Justice (speaking through her character John Galt, in Atlas Shrugged):

Justice is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake the character of men as you cannot fake the character of nature, that you must judge all men as conscientiously as you judge inanimate objects, with the same respect for truth, with the same incorruptible vision, by as pure and as rational a process of identification—that every man must be judged for what he is and treated accordingly, that just as you do not pay a higher price for a rusty chunk of scrap than for a piece of shining metal, so you do not value a rotter above a hero—that your moral appraisal is the coin paying men for their virtues or vices, and this payment demands of you as scrupulous an honor as you bring to financial transactions—that to withhold your contempt from men’s vices is an act of moral counterfeiting, and to withhold your admiration from their virtues is an act of moral embezzlement—that to place any other concern higher than justice is to devaluate your moral currency and defraud the good in favor of the evil, since only the good can lose by a default of justice and only the evil can profit—and that the bottom of the pit at the end of that road, the act of moral bankruptcy, is to punish men for their virtues and reward them for their vices, that that is the collapse to full depravity, the Black Mass of the worship of death, the dedication of your consciousness to the destruction of existence.

Ayn Rand identified seven virtues, chief among them rationality. The other six, including justice, she considered subsidiary because they are essentially different aspects and applications of rationality.

—Ayn Rand Lexicon (aynrandlexicon.com)

Justice Must Be Done.

Trump, it is supposed, had some documents.

Biden and company stole the country.

I’m sure enough of this that I put my money where my mouth is.

The prior election must be acknowledged as fraudulent, and steps must be taken to prosecute the fraudsters and restore integrity to the system. (This doesn’t necessarily include deposing Joe and Hoe and putting Trump where he belongs, but it would certainly be a lot easier to fix our broken electoral system with the right people in charge.)

Nothing else matters at this point. Talking about trying again in 2024 or 2026 is pointless otherwise. Which is not to say one must never talk about this, but rather that one must account for this in ones planning; if fixing the fraud in the system is not part of the plan, you have no plan.

This will necessarily be piecemeal, state by state, which is why I am encouraged by those states working to change their laws to alleviate the fraud both via computer and via bogus voters. If enough states do that we might end up with a working majority in Congress and that would be something Trump never really had.

Lawyer Appeasement Section

OK now for the fine print.

This is the WQTH Daily Thread. You know the drill. There’s no Poltical correctness, but civility is a requirement. There are Important Guidelines,  here, with an addendum on 20191110.

We have a new board – called The U Tree – where people can take each other to the woodshed without fear of censorship or moderation.

And remember Wheatie’s Rules:

1. No food fights
2. No running with scissors.
3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone.
4. Zeroth rule of gun safety: Don’t let the government get your guns.
5. Rule one of gun safety: The gun is always loaded.
5a. If you actually want the gun to be loaded, like because you’re checking out a bump in the night, then it’s empty.
6. Rule two of gun safety: Never point the gun at anything you’re not willing to destroy.
7. Rule three: Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
8. Rule the fourth: Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

(Hmm a few extras seem to have crept in.)

Spot Prices

Last week:

Gold $2,333.80
Silver $29.63
Platinum $968.00
Palladium $918.00
Rhodium $5,150.00

This week, at Friday close:

Gold $2,321.00
Silver $29.55
Platinum $1,001.00
Palladium $972.00
Rhodium $5,300.00

Things were nicely up on Thursday…but lost everything again on Friday. Except for platinum and palladium, which went up. Palladium went up more and is closing the gap with platinum (remember it was above platinum–way above at times–for most of recent times).

The SteveInCO Federal Reserve Note Suckage Index stands at 112.288+. (The Dollar Suckage index is the ratio between the price of gold today, versus the value of the dollar defined as dollars per ounce when we had the gold standard. (I use that clumsy phrasing because the dollar was defined as a certain amount of gold, such that an ounce of gold was $20.67. It’s a subtle distinction. One ounce of gold wasn’t worth $20.67 back then, it was $20.67.)

Also it is BULL SCHIFF!!!

Farmers, at least those with dairy cows and chickens are VERY CAREFUL about letting people on their property.

For example I bought a calf. I had to park on the road and the farmer brought it TO ME. He would not even allow me to drive on his driveway!

Chicken farmers are the same. No one is allowed near the flock except certain individuals and they have to scrub down first.

I would say that the carriers are MOST LIKELY USDA VETS!!! That is based on experience BTW.

Farmers are a LOT more picky about quarantine that the US Government. I am just a hobby farmer but I make sure ANY new animals go into quarantine for a month before allowed near my other animals. That policy has saved me a LOT of headaches!

pgroup2

Just how many “city folk” would know that about those countrified bib-overall wearing so-and-sos? Half a dozen? Three?

Seems like the 3 card monte specialists noticed that the city-country cracks are wide enough to hide a bunch of truth in. Lack of common knowledge about each other will be the death of us.

Did I mention that I hate those govt fuckers? Did I have to? 😡

Gail Combs

After 1945 the Committee on Economic Development (Milner Round Table) set about DESTROYING US farms and ruining the reputation of farmers. Hill Billies, Hicks, uneducated Yokels…

It was a DELIBERATE Psy-op.

As I said before The Cabal has been playing a LONG GAME that is well over 100 years old.

PLEASE NOTE what Dr. McKernan says:
“‘Medical Roundup'”
“Might as well say ‘Get on train.'”

IMO, that’s NOT a regular passenger train that he’s referring to.
More like — sealed cattle cars a la Germany / Poland / Austria in 1942, perhaps?

Added item — ripping the lid off the H5N1 “vaccine” issue:
http://www.theqtree.com/2024/05/24/dear-maga-tgif-open-thread-20240524/#comment-1282147

Since the COVID-19 “vaccines” are being exposed for what they truly are — dangerous and deadly; developed by our own country’s DoD with the cooperation of other entities and labs (UNC – Baric; EcoHealth Alliance; NIAID funding of Wuhan Institute of Virology; among others); and since the “mandates” and “requirements” for COVID-19 “vaccination” only did terrible damage to peoples’ health and to the economy; and since the numbers of scientific papers are increasing by the day regarding discoveries of what REALLY ARE in the modRNA and the other “ingredients” of these “vaccines”:
The “goal posts” have been shifted to using the H5N1 [lab-enhanced] avian influenza situation to be the next “pandemic” that will use modRNA “vaccines” to “prevent infection.” BUT, this time, the “prevent infection” will extend to POULTRY, COWS, BEEF CATTLE, HUMANS, and possibly even to DOMESTICATED PETS.
Never forget that the “end goal” is human depopulation and total control of the remnant that is left.

Unless she’s carrying multiples…been there, done that, & stood up in my brother’s wedding (rainbow colors & I got Orange, one of my least flattering colors) about 1/2 way through my twin pregnancy. My husband was my groomsman & as I waddled down the “aisle” (we were actually outside on Belle Isle in their Butterfly Garden, iirc) he said he felt so sorry for me. Basically I looked like a Big Peach Whale LOL.

We had to get these “dresses” (long skirt & separate strapped top) made by seamstresses. Mine was Very Generous with the fabric & put several buttons along the waistband since we had No Idea just how big I would be by the time the event happened. If Josiah hadn’t been so small it would have been an even Bigger Event 😂

I just read this to Hubby & he had a huge grin. I go “you didn’t think of me as the Big Peach Whale at the time did you?”

“There was a Lot of Fabric at the time!”

“Don’t you mean A Lot of Me???”

“A Lot of Fabric going on!”

The man’s a delightfully devious diplomat LOL

Now he’s back to the Bass Cave to practice for worship tomorrow…

One ounce of gold wasn’t worth $20.67 back then, it was $20.67.

Steve, I may have missed you discoursing on this in the past. However, it certainly needs to be explained and you are the one who is qualified to do it.

ThanQ in advance.

Valerie Curren

Steve’s money discourses are amazing!

kalbokalbs

Did a triple take on that line going through the daily.

Did another triple take reading your post.

Settled on. $20.67 was the “fixed” rate. But not the true value of an ounce of gold.

Or I have it inverted a bit. Or I totally screwed up.

Standing by for an education…

Valerie Curren

I had to reload the page, for some reason, to see your comments here. I’d thought you’d done your post & then just left it to simmer. So glad that you weighed in! Hope you are having a great weekend. We spent much of Saturday at my oldest son’s MIL’s home for our oldest granddaughter’s 2nd birthday & were subsequently wiped out for much of the rest of the day… 🙂

Valerie Curren

Wow. Hope you are being restored. I actually was praying for you just a bit recently. 🙂

We had a B-Day party to attend on Sat for our oldest GD, turned 2, & even though we were gone less than 5 hours we were both exhausted. I didn’t get enough sleep for Sunday but Hubby was busy playing his second worship set w/ his bass at his new church (I don’t go very often)–they haven’t had a bass player for Five Years so seem pretty happy to have him & he’s enjoying the music team fellowship so far (I’m Much More of a recluse 😉 😉 )…

Today I got less then 2 hours of sleep & needed to follow my daughter to the tire store but once not needed headed back home. I was home a few minutes & had a phone call w/ my mom who needed me to go grocery shopping for them, they are both mightily depleted since she broke her arm. Back out in the heat for a few hours…

After I got home my son wanted to have a heavy discussion about his Liver Transplant, the challenging changes in his life/psyche afterword, the later Liver Rejection hospitalization, independence issues…sigh. Shortly after than he put me on the phone w/ his MIL, who recently had a car accident & was rushed to the ER last night around the time I was picking up Josiah from their home to stay w/ us for a week, per his usual schedule now.

I don’t talk to many people either in person or by phone so sometimes that really wipes me out….

Being in the heat & being social in the real world, vs online, are both pretty draining for me…

I hope your exhaustion is the good kind following desired activities. I’d love any details you might care to share 🙂

BTW someone bought my husband an I-Pad & had it delivered to our house anonymously just after the first bass playing adventure at the new church on Father’s Day. He is absolutely blown away that someone would do that for him & is very touched. My oldest son’s BIL, who has played on this new worship team with him both times, managed to find a way to install some type of app on this I-Pad to facilitate his usage of it on the church’s stage. He’s still got a bit of a learning curve to get this tech assist up to snuff. Fun times 🙂

Valerie Curren

I’m glad it wasn’t a scenario, like you seemed to allude to when you said you might never do another science post, of you staying away from your “baby” because of hurt feelings, not that that is very often how men seem to respond such things…so no judgement either way. I missed your input on Saturday 🙂

The Height Of Irony: Big Tech And Biden Lawyers Are Arguing That If They Are Not Allowed To Censor We The People’s Speech, It Is A Violation Of Their First Amendment Rights
By Andrew Riddaugh and All News Pipeline

/ If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.
George Washington /

The Supreme Court has an opportunity to save free speech and, ultimately, free elections in America. At the end of June, two cases regulating social media and government speech censorship are on the docket.

The highest court in the land will be focused on cases from Missouri and Texas that aim to prevent social media outlets and the Biden Administration from censoring and banning users based on their political views.

Any American who has participated on Facebook, or Twitter before it was X, knows exactly what it’s like to have their First Amendment rights trampled. The Twitter files brought examples of the censorship disease, which suppressed speech on topics damaging to the Biden family and the 2020 elections.

Ironically, #BigTech and the Biden lawyers are arguing that if they are not allowed to stop people’s speech, it is a violation of their First Amendment rights.

Any chance #BigTech has to suppress the conservative voice or cause, they take it. That’s exactly why I started Liberation Technology Services, a freedom-based tech platform. Understanding what is at stake from this Supreme Court decision and the actions you can take to protect yourself in these uncertain times, is critical.

The laws in certain states protect social media users from being canceled or removed based on political beliefs or opinions. These laws protect citizens and their First Amendment right to free speech and censorship from a bias in terms of service set forth by the big tech giants. But doesn’t the 1st Amendment apply to everyone?

What will the Supreme Court do? Last February, during oral arguments, the justices were conflicted.

I received my first ‘hate speech’ warning and deleted post from youtube just yesterday.

No mention of what the ‘offending’ comment was, or under what video it was posted. No opportunity to defend myself or the unrevealed comment.

Just a threat that if the undisclosed behavior continues, I may be suspended and demonetized (I don’t have my own channel, so there goes a perfectly good threat down the drain).

There was an opportunity to reply, so I wrote that there was no such thing as ‘hate speech’, that it was just a weapon of tyranny the Left uses to censor people they disagree with but whose arguments the Left cannot defeat.

I finished by saying whoever writes or enforces youtube ‘hate speech’ rules are pathetic, weak minded, corrupt and petty.

I only said it because it was true.

Valerie Curren

That was a similar approach that lead to me being banned on Pinterest. They informed me that a Pin violated their “terms of service” but didn’t say what Pin or How it was a violation. They may have said what Board the “offending” Pin was on though. Basically they were intimidating people into censoring their own speech to continue to use the service. They didn’t have a reply button but there was some type of dispute the charges mechanism which I went through the first time, at least…

scott467

Looks like the intimidation angle didn’t work out as they planned… 😂

I can’t guess at what they didn’t like, and they won’t tell me because then they would have to defend their opposition to it, and they can’t.

Imagine some rainbow-color haired tranny censor attempting to defend youtoob’s ‘hate speech’ code.

They can’t. I would love to have that discussion, and they wouldn’t, so they’re not even going to try.

They just set the system up so that they can legally justify banning people they disagree with. It’s how they get rid of everyone who will not conform to their ever-changing PC standards.

From my old notes:

Duke Energy, an investor-owned utility, is one of the largest electric power companies in the United States. ” This means profits head to the pockets of the investors.

2011: Duke Energy extended a $10 million loan to Obama’s re-election convention committee.

Duke Energy intends to match a $22 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to design, build and install large-scale batteries to store wind energy at one of its wind farms in Texas.

Oct 27, 2009  Duke Energy Corp. has received a stimulus award of $200 million for “smart-grid” improvements in Ohio and Indiana.

…It’s part of a package of $3.4 billion in stimulus allocations announced Tuesday by the Obama administration.

Duke was among 100 entities to receive Smart Grid Investment Grants…”

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act),

the U.S. Department of Energy and the electricity industry have jointly invested over $7.9 billion in cost- shared Smart Grid Investment Grant projects to modernize the electric grid, strengthen cybersecurity, improve interoperability, and collect an unprecedented level of data on smart grid and customer operations. “<

Under the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) program, six utilities evaluated operations and customer charging behaviors for in-home and public electric vehicle charging stations…

Burbank Water and Power (BWP)

Duke Energy (Duke)

Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL)

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE)

Progress Energy (now part of Duke Energy as a result of a merger in 2012)

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD)

Duke Energy, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, provides electric service to 7.2 million electric customers……

Duke’s SGIG project has a total budget of almost $556 million, including DOE funding of $200 million. The project includes Duke deployment of advanced metering infrastructure, communications networks, and systems for meter data management; more than 1 million smart meters; customer systems such as in-home displays, web portals, and <b>time-based rate programs;</b> distribution automation equipment such as automated feeder switches, capacitors, and line monitors; and residential and commercial electric vehicle charging stations in North and South Carolina and Indiana.

Customers took advantage of time-based rates to save on overnight residential charging. Participants generally prefer charging their cars overnight at home. Time-based rates encouraged off-peak charging and provided savings for overnight chargers. The rates were especially convenient when customers could pre-program charging sessions to start when off- peak rates came into effect. …

Key potential adverse impacts on the grid include overloading circuits by excessive demand on any particular circuit, at any particular time. This can be mitigated by tracking the number and location of Level 2 AC chargers on residential customers. Smart grid technologies enable utilities to more easily monitor this potential overload problem. In addition, deployment of DC fast chargers could easily overload most residential neighborhood circuits, so their installations should be and commonly are managed by utilities. Properly designed and installed chargers of any size can be safely installed in suitable locations on the grid.

Secondly, with increased volumes of car charging, there is a cost and reliability impact if an excessive number of charging sessions occur during the peak hours of the day. Time-of-use rates may be used to encourage customers to charge their vehicles during off-peak periods.

There are many other PDFs of interest listed at the bottom:

And yes I am correct that “time-based rates programs, including time-of-use, critical peak pricing, and peak-time rebate programs.” will eventually be implemented to shape consumer behavior.

Aug. 31, 2014 Integrated Smart Grid Provides Wide Range of Benefits in Ohio and the Carolinas  [PDF]

https://www.smartgrid.gov/document/integrated_smart_grid_provides_wide_range_benefits_ohio_and_carolinas

Smart meters and distribution management system upgrades also allowed Duke to pilot time-based rates programs, including time-of-use, critical peak pricing, and peak-time rebate programs. Though customer participation was low, <b>the new technology positions Duke to implement similar programs as social, regulatory, and market landscapes change in the future</b>. …

Duke’s 966,000 smart meters each have remote and off-cycle meter reading capabilities, remote connect/disconnect (residential only), tamper detection, and outage diagnostics features that allow the utility to “ping” meters and determine where power is out.

While Duke encountered opt-out requests during the meter deployment, personal contact with individual customers, local leadership, regulatory staff, and legislative leaders, helped defuse the opt-out issue for the majority of the deployment timeframe. [In other words Duke’s PROPAGANDA was successful]

We are one of THREE households in our ‘Electric Service Area’ that did not install Smart Meters according to a lineman BTW.

Louisiana governor ‘can’t wait to be sued’ after forcing the Ten Commandments in classrooms,

Louisiana’s Republican Governor Jeff Landry is looking for a legal fight after mandating the Ten Commandments in every classroom in the state.

“I’m going home to sign a bill that places the Ten Commandments in public classrooms,” he said during a recent GOP fundraiser in Tennessee. “I can’t wait to be sued.”

Landry signed the bill into law on Wednesday, making Louisiana the first state in the US to require all public schools and universities to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms.

Conservative legal groups have been angling for another shot at reversing Supreme Court rulings protecting the separation of church and state after justices shot down a similar state law in Kentucky more than 30 years ago, on the grounds that the state violated the First Amendment’s prohibition against any laws “respecting an establishment of religion.”

In 2005, the Supreme Court ruled that the public display of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky county courthouses was similarly unconstitutional.

“Our public schools are not Sunday schools, and students of all faiths – or no faith – should feel welcome in them,” the American Civil Liberties Union said in a joint statement with other civil rights groups warning against Louisiana’s legislation.

The ACLU and Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the Freedom from Religion Foundation are now preparing to sue the Landry administration.

“The law violates the separation of church and state and is blatantly unconstitutional,” they said in a joint statement on Wednesday. “The First Amendment promises that we all get to decide for ourselves what religious beliefs, if any, to hold and practice, without pressure from the government. Politicians have no business imposing their preferred religious doctrine on students and families in public schools.”

The measure requires all schools to display the text exactly as written in the bill, and in “a poster or framed document that is at least eleven inches by fourteen inches” – at minimum – and “in a large, easily readable font.”

It also requires a 200-word “context statement” arguing that the Ten Commandments were “a prominent part of American public education for almost three centuries” up until 50 years ago.

Last year, Louisiana’s GOP-controlled state legislature passed a similar measure that requires “In God We Trust” displayed in all public school classrooms.

A good fight, although I’m doubtful it’s constitutional.

Valerie Curren

I guess it might depend on how it’s framed. If it is an historical reference to what underpins the legal foundation of the nation, as designed by the Founding Fathers, then it Might pass muster. Doesn’t the Supreme Court building have the 10 Commandments engraved in stone &/or Moses on their building?

Aubergine

Yes, he is.

The whole argument over the Ten Commandments in school in the United States is ridiculous and ignorant of history.

Valerie Curren

per usual w/ leftards

Aubergine

Of course it’s constitutional!

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Anyone with any understanding of history knows that England had a state religion, and had for centuries. It changed with the whims of the king. Catholic, then Protestant, Church of England, etc. The Founders were declaring themselves “separated” from the British government and its dictates.

Notice the word “establishment.” Displaying the Ten Commandments doesn’t “establish” a state religion, anymore than displaying a pride flag “establishes” gay pride. It represents a CHOICE. Nothing in a display of the Ten Commandments violates the free exercise of another religion, either.

Freedom to CHOOSE one’s religion, lifestyle, belief system, place to live, etc., is the ENTIRE POINT of the Constitution. Giving students the CHOICE of the Ten Commandments is no different than any other choice presented in a classroom.

This argument is stupid. It has been stupid from the beginning. Intelligent people need to start fighting back against the complete and total misrepresentation of the meaning of the Constitution. Don’t even get me started on the Second Amendment.

Alison

It is my reasoned opinion that the purpose of the recently discussed Draft Registration policy debate is for just that purpose. There are few scenarios where a mass mobilization of citizen soldiers would be necessary. Therefore, I believe the purpose of the policy, should it become law, is for the collection of biometric data. Fingerprints, DNA samples and retinal scans at a minimum. That is also why both men and women will be required to register; a government database for surveillance and biowarfare research.

Note that the printers are named “ps”, “imagen”, and “fred”.

Linux (and UNIX before it) has a tendency to collect idiosyncrasies. One of the commands the author highlights is “tea”, which should respond with “How long is it until tea” — that seems to be unavailable at present on my system. “hack”, however, is.

One sometimes gets the feeling that one is roaming an immense building, with corridors at odd angles, and looking at large numbers of doors scrawled with addresses, often indecipherable. To make matters worse, the default filesystem allows any file to be behind multiple doors — if you’re in a blue corridor, and you open a door labeled “/media/me/flopdap”, it might look exactly like what you’d find in a yellow corridor behind a door that says “/mnt/floptest” — because it’s the same file.

Fox News reported in summer 2021 that “at least 90%” of its employees had been COVID-19 “vaccinated” — and that Fox News employees who refused “vaccination” and/or refused to “disclose their vaccination status” had to be COVID-19 tested every day.

THEN, Fox News changed that policy in December 2021 and made “proof of COVID-19 vaccination” a requirement to work at the company in New York City. This was in response to the diktat put out by then-Mayor Bill De Blasio which required COVID-19 “vaccination.”

IMO, this was the “final straw” for Tucker Carlson. IMO, Sean Hannity and the other Fox News hosts most likely all got COVID-19 “vaccinated” in order to keep their jobs. One guesses that management at the New York City office of Fox News, like Paul Ryan, also got “vaccinated” if they hadn’t already.

IMO, it is inconceivable that Fox News employees do NOT know by now that the COVID-19 “vaccines” are dangerous and deadly — and that these same “vaccines” are in their bodies.

That Kansas lawsuit against Pfizer is shaking things up. And I was not aware until recently that Pfizer SKIPPED OUT of “Operation Warp Speed”, by which they would have taken government money (peanuts to them, I’m sure), and needed to provide more federal reporting.

I’ll bet Fauci warned them not to do it, too.
