And no, I own no bitcoin. Full disclosure: In about 2010 I set up a bit coin miner on a R. Pi in a hotel room while working “on the road” as a computer “rent a guy with brains” aka “consultant”. It never found a single bigcoin and that likely colored my opinions. I personally find the idea of “digital assets” foreign. I prefer gold, silver, and platinum (natures limited assets 😉 and they have done well for me. BUT: I missed the entire Bitcoin ramp from about 25¢ per coin to now about $100,000 (modulo swings of 50%).
Do I regret it? Nope. There is no inherent value in Bitcoin or any other artificial scarcity “asset”. Like cards for “Magic the gathering” it is a social construct, not a real thing. I have a blindness to that. Just can’t get interested in things that are “social constructs” as I am obligatory Reality Centered. Yes, you can make a lot of money out of the idiocy of it; but I can’t and won’t. I see it as an entirely artificial construct from the start and “just can’t go there” due to the risk of people just changing their minds about it.
So no, I don’t “endorse” this guy. BUT he does give me insight into “them” and their behaviours.
He’s a hard core bit coin advocate and at about 18 minutes pushes a “digital wallet”. Whatever. His observations about Chase bank and Mr. Diamond are interesting and likely have some worth. To what extent is our world owned and manipulated by TLAs? Things to ponder.

Texas Takes First Step Toward State Bitcoin Reserve with $5 Million ETF Purchase
Texas has invested $5 million in a bitcoin ETF as an initial move toward establishing the first state-based crypto reserve in the U.S.
CoinDesk reports that Texas has purchased $5 million worth of shares in BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) exchange-traded fund (ETF). The investment, confirmed by a spokesman for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, serves as a placeholder as the state continues working toward directly holding bitcoin in its own reserve.
The purchase comes after Texas passed legislation earlier this year, appropriating $10 million to fund the creation of a state-managed bitcoin stockpile, known as the Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. As part of the process, Texas recently concluded an information-gathering phase, soliciting input from the crypto industry on best practices for implementing and managing such a reserve.
While Texas is not the first state entity to invest government funds in a crypto-based ETF, with states like Michigan and Wisconsin having previously allocated pension fund money to similar investments, it marks a significant step toward a state directly holding and managing its own cryptocurrency reserve.

Trump: South Africa to be excluded from 2026 G20 Summit
President Donald Trump has announced that South Africa will not receive an invitation to the 2026 G20 Summit, which is set for December in Miami, Florida, at his Trump National Doral resort.

Russia Unable to Send Astronauts to Space for First Time Since 1961
Damage to a Russian launch site has stopped Moscow from sending people into space for the first time in over six decades, it has been reported.
Moscow’s space agency Roscosmos said that Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan had sustained damage during a launch on Thursday carrying Russian and American astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).
But Russian space bloggers said the damage to Russia’s only launch site for crewed missions was more serious than authorities were claiming.
One expert, Vitaly Egorov, said if the damage is as suspected, Moscow will have lost the ability to launch people into space for the first time since it put the first human in orbit in 1961. Newsweek has contacted Roscosmos for comment.

FIRST ON 7: Nearly 400 gallons of fuel dumped into wrong home with no oil tank in Medford
MEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) – Hazmat crews were called to a home in Medford Monday after an oil delivery driver dumped 383 gallons of heating oil into a home that had a fill pipe but no oil tank, according to officials.
Officials said the Fawcett Oil delivery driver went to the right address, but in the wrong city. Instead of going to 48 Linwood Street in Malden, he went to 48 Linwood Street in Medford.
Fire officials said the driver attached the hose to the fillup pipe on the side of the house, but that pipe was not connected to any oil tanks — so 383 gallons of oil ended up in the home’s basement.
“Oil delivery driver pulled up to the wrong address,” said Medford Deputy Fire Chief Nick Davis. “Put 385 gallons of oil into a basement with no oil tank.”
Residents of the two family home quickly evacuated and the area was sealed off.
“It smelled very bad,” said Dang Nguyen, the homeowner. “Even, you know, I’m living in the second floor and I smell. I came home and came in to drop something off and it smelled very bad.”
Crews began cleanup using shovels and speedy dry. They first tried to contain then remove the oil with the Department of Environmental Protection on the scene.

It’s simple.
Money is whatever people decide it is. For most people today, money is worthless federal reserve notes backed by the full faith and credit of a government that is $38 trillion in the hole.
IIRC, Indians in Manhattan used glass beads for money. Earlier societies used sticks (I think that’s where the expression ‘short end of the stick’ comes from, but I read it about it a long time ago, so that could be off).
For a long time, gold has been considered the ‘best’ money, for a variety of very good reasons.
It’s reasonably rare. It’s reasonably hard to counterfeit. It’s durable (doesn’t rust away). It requires, on average, a quantifiable amount of work to discover, dig up, refine and cast into a coin or bar.
It’s also heavy, not easily transported in meaningful quantities, and it’s expensive to assay to prove purity (and therefore value), among other things.
So it’s a series of pros and cons, compromises. It’s also essentially useless for industry, which is a positive, because there is little demand from industrial sources to cause the value to fluctuate, unlike silver, which has many industrial uses.
So for many reasons, gold became the chosen or defacto choice as a store of value.
Gold is also seizeable, both by garden variety robbers and by government variety robbers. And it has been confiscated by both.
Bitcoin was invented with the specific intention to be a better money, a better store of value, than gold.
Scarcity is a major component of value. Gold is scarce, but more is mined and brought to market every year. And if the price continues going up, miners will be incentivized to explore and locate and dig up even more of it.
As increased supply is able to meet demand, prices stabilize, and then eventually mean revert.
By contrast, Bitcoin is finite. There will only ever be 21 million produced, of which around 19 million have already been created, of which around 5 million have been lost.
So excluding the lost Bitcoin, there are only about 15 million Bitcoin in existence, and there will only ever be about 17 million. For 8+ billion people.
Unlike many (nearly all) other cryptos, Bitcoin cannot be created out of thin air, it must be ‘mined’, i.e., computers solve equations to earn Bitcoin rewards. This is a highly competitive industry, which results in the cost to mine Bitcoin (computer equipment and electricity being the major costs) being roughly equivalent to the spot price, much of the time.
If the spot price drops too far below the cost to mine Bitcoin, miners will shut down their computers, rather than lose money. As the price of Bitcoin rises above cost, more people are able to mine profitably, so competition rises.
But no matter how many people are trying to ‘mine’ Bitcoin, currently there are only 450 Bitcoin mined, in total, each day.
Every four years, the number of Bitcoin that can be mined per day is cut in half. So last cycle, 900 Bitcoin were mined per day, next halving cycle, the current 450 per day will be cut in half, dropping the amount mined per day to 225.
So the supply gets less and less, with each 4-year halving cycle.
Critically, no government can inflate Bitcoin, or debase Bitcoin. And if you learn how to self-custody Bitcoin, no government can steal it.
And unlike gold, which is very expensive and difficult to transport, you can send a billion dollars (or $10 billion, or $100 billion) around the world, in minutes, for practically zero cost.
This can be very useful, especially if you need to flee a dying country that is trying to confiscate all wealth possible as the population (with the means to do so) evacuates. By contrast, you won’t make it very far, trying to drag a significant amount of gold bars through airport security. Or crossing a border by car. Or getting onto a boat, etc.
Since Bitcoin was created to do the same thing as gold, without some of the drawbacks of gold, it has been termed “digital gold”.
It is a fascinating subject. The more you learn about it, the more you learn about the concept of money and value itself, and the history of money, and the historical problems associated with money through the millennia, and how Bitcoin was designed to solve the inherent problems that exist with all prior forms of money.
Bitcoin (spot price) is also volatile, having big swings in value between bear market cycles and bull market cycles, but as the size of the asset class increases, volatility will diminish (and is diminishing).
Long term, the price (as measured in fiat currency) is going up and to the right.

Bitcoin was designed to fight that system. To give people a store of value that could not be debased or inflated away, by central banks around the world printing trillions of dollars out of thin air to save banks that were ‘too big to fail’, and devaluing the purchasing power of every human being on earth in the process.
So it’s a monetary rebellion or sorts, for anyone seeking an escape from the wholly corrupt fractional reserve fiat currency system.
Necessity being the mother of invention.
There were several people involved with the creation of Bitcoin, including one person, Hal Finney, who has since passed away, and another person named Adam Back. Each of these guys solved various pieces of the puzzle required to make a secure network that could not be hacked, solve for double-entry, and a lot of other stuff beyond my technical understanding.
But it was an anonymous person, known by the name Satoshi Nakamoto, who used the ideas developed by Adam Back and Hal Finney, who put it all together into a workable whole.
IIRC, Satoshi Nakamoto was in contact with Adam and Hal, and many other people during the development, and many of their email discussions and message board discussions are a matter of public record, but as far as we know, either no one involved actually met Satoshi Nakamoto in person, or if they did, they’re keeping it to themselves.
Admittedly it sounds sketchy, but people are welcome to do their own digging and verify what is known to their heart’s content.
It is good that the ‘creator’ (at least the person most responsible) remains unknown, because so long as he remains anonymous, he can’t be targeted.
And the first approximately 1 million Bitcoin are in Satoshi Nakamoto’s online wallet, visible for the whole world to see, and it hasn’t been touched (nothing moved into it or out of it) since around 2009.
So when I mentioned that around 5 million Bitcoins have been ‘lost’ over the years, that includes Satoshi’s 1 million.
One of the amazing things about the blockchain is that it is publicly viewable, so if you know that a particular “wallet” (address) belongs to a specific person, you can monitor it. And thousands (probably tens of thousands) of people monitor Satoshi’s wallet every day, just checking to see if he might still be alive, and if so, whether he moved any of his Bitcoin.
So far, he hasn’t, so no one knows if he’s alive or not.
The halving cycles (every 4 years), the number (21 million) to be mined, etc., were determined by Satoshi Nakamoto.
I think there is a reason why he chose “21”, but I forget now.
There are many reasons for the 4-year halving cycle, but at least one of the important ones is to systematically and predictably reduce the supply over time, on a regular schedule.
It’s like the opposite of what the government does. They are always adding to the money supply, which decreases the value of every dollar already in existence.
Bitcoin is programmed to reduce the amount of new supply every 4 years, and then stop forever once it reaches 21 million Bitcoins mined.
It also creates an entire ecosystem around the 4-year halving cycle. Miners used to be individuals who could mine Bitcoin on their home computer.
There was practically no competition, so the mathematical equations to solve in order to get a Bitcoin reward were easy enough for home computers to solve with low electricity requirements.
But back then, around 2009, a Bitcoin was worth less than a penny.
The first time Bitcoin was used to buy something, it was used to buy a couple pizzas from Papa Johns 😁

As Bitcoin became more valuable, more people started ‘mining’ it.
Bitcoin has no headquarters, there is no board of directors, there is no person in charge. This means there is no one for a government or intelligence agency to coerce or threaten or kill.
Because if they could, they would. Satoshi was well aware of this.
It is a program that runs autonomously, and there are verification or validation ‘nodes’ (computers) all over the world to verify each transaction on the blockchain.
This makes Bitcoin “decentralized”. There is no single or localized chokepoint that could be attacked.
Anyone can run a validation ‘node’, and there are over 24,000 nodes around the world as of today.
So suppose there was an EMP nuclear attack.
Unless it knocked out electricity on the entire planet, Bitcoin would be safe, and people could access it same as normal, as soon as electric power was restored in their area.
And I suspect Elon has had a Bitcoin node in space for some time now, so even if ALL of the computers on earth were zapped, Bitcoin would survive 😁
President Trump has access to pretty capable financial advisors, people who understand scams and ponzis and such.
DJT has a significant amount of his personal wealth in Bitcoin. It began when the banks started closing his business accounts, after his first term ended, and the Derp State was trying to crush him with lawfare and economically and every other way.
He was being debanked, with a multi-billion dollar real estate empire (and other businesses) to run. That forced the Trump family to find other viable options, which led them straight to Bitcoin.

Apparently DJT, and his family, and United States Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and United States Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, are not concerned that Bitcoin is some kind of scam.

A friend of mine advised me to check out Bitcoin back around 2015. I blew it off, of course. Looked at it for a few minutes, concluded it was a scam, and let that opportunity pass right on by.
My loss.
I first started paying attention to it and learning about it around 2021.
At the time, the entire United States government (and many other governments around the world) were strongly opposed to Bitcoin and trying to shut it down.
Because it is a threat to the entire corrupt global fiat financial system.
They failed.

There is an expression in the Bitcoin ‘community’ (I never like that term!), “Everyone buys Bitcoin at the price they deserve.”
This saying is based on two things.
First, that eventually, everyone will own Bitcoin. Bitcoin is practically infinitely divisible, but it was designed to be divisible into small increments, 100 million to a Bitcoin, called “Sats” (similar to cents). And ‘Sats’ is short for Satoshis.
So with Bitcoin spot price currently at $91,225, that means each “Sat” is worth $0.0009
When Bitcoin gets to $1 million per Bitcoin, each “Sat” will be worth a penny.
This will be much easier for everyone to understand, because people already know what a penny is.
Second, the saying recognizes that almost everyone dismisses Bitcoin at first glance, and usually at second, third, fourth and fifth glance too.
It is frequently the kind of thing which people learn about when they need to.

His company, MicroStrategy (recently renamed just “Strategy”, same ticker symbol, MSTR), owns 649,870 Bitcoin.
He buys more and adds it to the MSTR treasury just about every week.
Michael Saylor could have bought Bitcoin in 2009 when it was worth less than a penny.
He could have bought Bitcoin in 2015 when it was around $200 to $300.

A concern that I would have is that cloud seeding uses some substance (perhaps silver iodide) to get rain going. This substance would then be washed out of the air and into the rain. In most places, this would be no big deal — the rain would wash into a river, and from there into the ocean, and would be lost in the massive ocean.
In this case, however, it is washed into the Great Salt Lake, and stays there. Even at tiny concentrations for any given rain, there is no way out of the lake except evaporation, and the substance would build up there. And it would be a horrendous and wasteful process to extract that substance back out of the lake.

If my hypothesis is correct, then you have a kind of persistent night vision, so that the “seeing through” images that are possible in low light, are still registering when the light is brighter and are swamped by reflected images. There are several potential larger explanations of that, but the entire scenario requires that a variety of conditions be true. It could definitely be explored by experiment, and likely already has been. You would be in the tail of the curves where two-way mirrors “fail” or perform badly, require brighter ambient light, etc.

• Fake jobs and fake demand.
Hundreds of Indian outsourcing firms filed tens of thousands of H-1Bs this year for positions that do not exist. Multiple investigations show companies filing in bulk to “reserve” visas, then scrambling to invent projects later. Some never place the worker at all.
• Benching scams now confirmed. Whistleblowers have shown that workers still pay to stay “on the bench.” Some pay cash, some pay through offshore relatives, some have to sign fake “mandatory training contracts” to justify the deduction.
This is criminal in U.S. law, but enforcement is nearly zero.
• Proxy interview factories. The DHS Inspector General flagged the explosion of proxy interview rings.
American hiring managers think they are talking to the candidate, but they are talking to someone halfway across the world. After the visa is secured, the unqualified worker steps in.
That is fraud by any definition.
• Multi vendor stacking. One recent corporate review found six layers of vendors between the client and the actual H-1B worker.
Each layer took a cut. The client paid $180 an hour.
The worker received $32.

FBI Raids $2,000-a-Month Washington Apartment of Afghan Immigrant Who Ambushed Two National Guard Soldiers Near White House
FBI agents raided the $2,000-a-month apartment in Bellingham, Washington, on Thursday, executing search warrants as part of a rapidly expanding terrorism probe tied to Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the gunman who ambushed and shot two National Guard members just steps from the White House.

My cat Garbo cat past away during the night. She was found with her mother and two siblings at McDonald . They was brought to the vet were two kittens not made it. My husband almost to the day saw the black and white at the vet called me “if he could bring her home” then he called again and ask “if he could bring the mother also”. This was 16 years ago. She was never over 7 lb elegant and sweet. She will be missed but we are grateful having had her for 16 years. God is good.

Barn cats can be strong and long living. I am sure the cat was well taken care off.
Garbo was never a strong cat but never sick until the last two weeks. After spending $900 and many tests the vet did not find out what was wrong and send her home
She was from a barn cat litter. We got her and her brother from a private rescue. We wanted mousers so she gave us those two kittens from a semi-feral barn cat mom.
They were both great cats. we brought them down from MA to NC with us.
I am sure they enjoyed their hunting days.
The other day I gave my Russian blue a big piece of Turkey she acted as if she had a mouse in her mouth that was so funny.
My Siamese (Long haired Balinese) would KILL for turkey. That is the treat I used to train him. He was my first cat.
He was a very unusual for a cat. More dog like.

A friend gave me a Siamese she also was like a dog and only liked one person guess who 🙂 She slept in my arm every night.
I use to take mine camping with me. He would ride in the back pack and sleep in my sleeping bag.

A few years later, I had a photography class in High School (learned to develop my own film!!!). My teacher, Mr. Maxwell, was, like many creative and geeky types, sometimes a tad too creative. He replaced the plastic capsule with a small frog (hence this reply 🙂 ), and launched it from his backyard.
His neighbors, at the time, were having a barbecue…

The poor frog had a nice Corny7 launch, but re-entry was somewhat warm, indeed close to fried froglegs for him 🙂

Eventually, the Fidelity Bitcoin ETF and maybe a couple others will be big enough to do the same, but at the moment, Blackrock is apparently the go-to Bitcoin ETF for big players who need a large options market.
That doesn’t really explain the Texas purchase though. $5 million is a drop in the ocean.

What inherent value does gold have, besides the fact that enough people have agreed to use it as a store of value?
If you put gold under an electron microscope, you will not find tiny dollar signs inside.
It’s just metal. We (people) give it value by agreeing to use it as a store of value and value exchange.
We could do (and have done) the same with lots of things, e.g., glass beads, sticks, gem stones, paper currency, etc.
The difference between all of these things, and Bitcoin, is that the supply of all of the other things is continually increasing. More gem stones, more gold, more fiat currency, more of whatever we might use as a store of value, is being added to the total amount in circulation, every year.
The amount of Bitcoin in circulation is also going up every year, but importantly, it is going up in a fixed amount (450 per day), which declines to 225 per day, and then 112.5 per day, and so on, in four year intervals.
So even if the price of Bitcoin goes to $10 billion per coin, tomorrow, it is impossible to increase the supply. It will be 450 per day, until the next halving, at which point, no matter how high (or low) the price is, it will drop from 450 to 225 per day.
Now consider gold.
If gold goes up to $10k or $20k or $100k per ounce, tomorrow, you can be absolutely certain that exploration and mining for gold will EXPLODE, and the current daily (or annual) supply will double or triple in the next few years, literally as soon as humanly possible, to meet market demand.
That cannot happen with Bitcoin. It is not possible to increase supply to meet increased demand.
This (apparently) is something many people have difficulty in grasping. Not the facts, but the implications of the facts. It’s a psychological thing, it’s not about intelligence.

But he likes the value proposition of metals like gold, which are also social constructs. You could at least argue that silver has many industrial uses, but gold has practically none, so gold’s value proposition is almost fully a social construct.
Gold is a store of value because enough People decided to use it as a store of value (i.e., social construct).

But he thinks he missed the boat, so from that perspective, it’s easy to call it ‘idiocy’ and say “I can’t and won’t.”
What he doesn’t realize, for some reason, is that just to attain parity with the market cap of gold, Bitcoin, which has a current total market cap of $1.8 trillion, still has to 15x from here, to equal the current $28 trillion market cap of gold.

People change their minds about stores of value all the time. Just look at the Zimbabwean dollar 😂
So the risk of people changing their minds about the value proposition can happen to anything, and the way to deal with that risk is to understand the risk profile of any proposed store of value.
The fiat currency of Zimbabwe obviously has a higher risk profile than the U.S. dollar, for example. But the U.S. dollar isn’t exactly the gold standard (pun intended), considering the U.S. dollar has lost 96% of its value over the past 100 years.
Gold does much better.
Bitcoin has done much better than gold since it came into existence, and over any 4-year or longer time horizon, there is every reason to expect Bitcoin’s outperformance (compared to gold) to continue.
