After the midterm elections, when Democrats, their moneybags backers, and corporate media lackeys are stunned that they’ve lost Congress by margins larger than now anticipated — and heaps of state and local offices are lost — the quiet may end abruptly. Don’t bet against it.
The Central Importance of Infrastructure
Infrastructure requires careful definition these days. Leftists have recently repurposed the word to describe not pipelines and power grids but social services and public education. Where leftists trod, moderate Democrats and RINOs have followed, muddying the meaning by imposing a broad concept onto what should be straightforward and tangible. This isn’t a trivial problem, because infrastructure, traditionally defined, demands painful clarity from ideologues committed to limited government.
For example, if you are going to build a pipeline to transport natural gas from wells to refineries and from there to end users, you have to lay the pipe in a route that minimizes material waste. The same reality holds true for high-voltage power lines, freeways, and railroads. Without the ability of government to exercise eminent domain, it would be impossible to secure easements to build these necessary assets.
Even infrastructure built with private funding, such as toll roads, can’t be constructed without eminent domain. Without that legal authority, one private landowner occupying a small parcel in the path of a project could stop it cold.
The moral worth of eminent domain falls along a continuum, and where the line is drawn between justified versus unjustified use is subjective. Necessary pipelines, aqueducts, and power lines are on one end, and sports stadiums, “redevelopment,” and urban renewal are on the other. And even in those less justifiable categories, history is filled with examples of glorious rebuilt cities arising on top of decaying slums, and only the arbitrary use of power made them possible.
But we don’t have to go that far in this discussion. We’re just trying to keep the lights on.

BTW, while I own a bunch of similar gear….I would strongly recommend getting all your sound into the digital domain ASAP using a quality ADC (Analog-Digital Converter), then using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to arrange, mix, and apply effects to it.
CD quality is 2 channels of LPCM audio, each signed 16-bit values sampled at 44100 Hz. Just about any ADC can do better than that.
The Ardour project ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ardour_(software) ) is a very capable DAW available to anyone, providing you understand that it eats hardware capacity quite readily. OTOH, I am experimenting with it using 8G Pi 4’s.

These concerns were memorable because I had her laughing throughout my explanation of them…..and, no, I did not use the word “whorehouse” because this was in a business setting.
So I went back to check our back stock. It was 100% whorehouse.
I went to Walmart — whorehouse. Home Depot — whorehouse. Walgreens, CVS, Lucky, Smart & Final (restaurant supply), Target, Safeway — whorehouse.
Amazon has it available, but as you might imagine when a product is mostly water, shipping makes the price incredible. Instead of about $6 for 50 ounces, they wanted $22 for 96 ounces.
So, I’m going to need to see whether there is availability in the distribution networks for local retail outlets — I might be able to get a case of unscented from Lucky as a special order, for instance.
And I’m really getting steamed-up at the idiot marketing person who felt the need to show his excellence by screwing up my decades-long purchasing preference. There are now more disgusting whorehouse Softsoap scents than there are specialties in a bordello. The customer service rep said that many people were calling about changing the scents (though I was calling about marking the bottles), and now I understand why. This brand was painstakingly built for decades, and some marketing youngster has decided it needed more influence from the stupid youth.
This reminds me of past times when finding unscented products was very hard – and which are invariably sandwiched between times when there is more unscented product than you could possibly buy, even in prepper mode

Update on the Gland problem under my chin, I saw the doctor who thinks I have a stuck gland that is not draining. I am making hot compresses and have allergy meds. There is no more pain except when I press on it.
I had a calcium scoring test last week that gives some radiation. Doc thinks I might have the gland problem as reaction. So he does not know.After two weeks when this has not changed I need to see a throat and nose specialist they might have to take the gland out he the doc said.
One good thing is the Calcium Test was “0.” Doc said that I will not have a heart attack.
I am not as tired anymore that is a good sign. Funny what a little gland can do to take over control over my energy 😂

I made a big pot of chicken soup had much bones from roasted chicken. Have now good amount in freezer for winter when or if we get a cold. Nothing better than homemade chick soup. 🙂

Yes it is good comfort food. Made enough for freezer when it is cold in winter to get out to eat. Love soups all kind. If I was alone I would have soup everyday and Sundays different food.
I’m a bit of the soup queen around here. It’s a great way to be creative with scraps. I’ve got a pot of veggie broth in the fridge & hubby just returned from hunting camp bringing steak bones for me to use in a concoction of my choice!
I had a book called “Broth” out from the library that had a chart page showing the main broth types & what they are good for. The chicken broth checked almost all the boxes, by far more than any of the other 8-10 types. My mom called chicken soup Jewish Penicillin 🙂
It is Jewish Penicillin. Traditionally my grandmother made chicken soup out of chicken feet. One cannot find cheap chicken parts any longer. Maybe in some stores?
At the end of the week I clean the fridge anything that is nailed on winds its way into a soup 🙂

If you can gently stretch that side of your neck, sometimes that helps me. I have a tendency to have swollen lymph glands under my chin at the slightest provocation. I can just be overtired and they will swell up.

This whole concept of religious exemptions from certain things bugs me. It’s ALWAYS an exemption from a rule where violating it hurts no one else and violates no one else’s rights…in other words, where the government is overreaching. They’d never give a religious exemption to, say, the law against murder on religious grounds. It’s always some damn thing the government shouldn’t be telling you to do (or not to do), ANYWAY.
So why do I have to fake some religion to be exempted? If my violating whatever rule isn’t harmful enough that a government must force you to do it regardless of your religious beliefs, they shouldn’t be forcing you to do it, regardless of religious belief.
Not your point, but related. A person with genuine religious beliefs is not necessarily a person who belongs to an “organized” religion, or who attends services on a regular basis. But a person’s individual conscience, and individual, genuine beliefs are insufficient. The religious exemption is at best inadequate, but also insultingly stupid.
You don’t have to fake a religion. You say your “religion” prohibits taking it. Your “religion” just happens to be atheism, but that’s no one’s business but your own.

I don’t have a problem but with 5% of his vid which was the bad mouthing of Vanguard which I’ve mentioned here before. If someone has something more substantial than their size I’d like to hear about it. Guilt by Association is what I’m seeing. Because Vanguard is the top stock owner of Pay Pal followed by Black Rock means nothing by itself. Vanguard is owned by the stock investors.
In any Prospectus (the self imposed, legal rules that a fund sets for itself) it states plainly that they do not actively control the shares they buy in a company. This means they do not use their clout with companies they invest with, that they do not exercise their shares with with the intent of controlling any companies behavior, that they don’t put their members on company boards. Vanguard invests in the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly as long as they have profitability and are not breaking any regulatory laws. They are blind to social concerns with the exception of a tiny handful of funds that are actually called “Social Funds” and it is those companies that do the Social thing, not Vanguard. Vanguard simply allows investors access to those funds through it’s family of Mutual Funds, be they traditional funds or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
Vanguard keeps showing up on these lists of bad companies we hear about simply because of their size as their size is result of all the mom and pops across America that want to invest in low cost Mutual Funds. It’s that simple. Vanguard does not care if a company is woke, goes woke, is not woke, will never wake, it only cares about the return it can bring back to its investors. The arm twisting does occur however with the Black Rock’s, the State Street’s, the Berkshire Hathaway’s and a host of other financial companies who will exercise their shares in these companies. It’s the companies themselves along with some of these other behemoth financial companies that have to be brought to task, not Vanguard as they are strictly in the business for their share holder owners to bring about the best return on investment that they can provide and they do that by flying blind when it comes to social concerns.

Meanwhile you have the left who would love to see the right disinvest from Vanguard in the hopes that they either don’t reinvest or if they do, they reinvest in one of these other socially active finance companies. What better way to empty the coffers of your political enemies.

Does Vanguard own PayPal, or do the investor clients of Vanguard own PayPal? I believe it’s the latter. Those ahares are a collective of the shares owned by investors through Vanguard. It still gives them leverage, to be sure. But, if Vanguard investors all sold their PP stock (and ETFs, etc that hold PP), Vanguard wouldn’t have any PP stock on their books. Am I wrong?
As long as Vanguard is explicitly anti-ESG, then great. I think it’s HEALTHY then to have a large bloc of influential stock ownership that explicitly opposes the WOKE ESG agenda, that opposition taking the form of neutrality and agnosticism in stock purchases.
But the moment Vanguard knuckles under to Wokeism, in even the slightest ways, then they go in my bad guy column, just like BlackRock.

The programming to run a CNC machine is in “G code”. If you run the same G code on a similar brick of metal, you’ll get the same result each time. So if you decided to re-use the G code for an AR-15 lower receiver in order to make a cheese grater, you’d end up with a cheese grater that looked a lot like an AR-15 lower receiver.

And the main anti-Russian energy map is gradually being lost.
Germany and France want to play it completely differently.
Thus, Olaf Scholz said that he intends to allocate €200 billion for the implementation of the domestic energy assistance program. And Emmanuel Macron was outraged by this.
The first one(Scholz) is trying to somehow save the country’s economy by reducing the cost of gas, oil and electricity for consumers. He needs it elementary in order to retain power.
And the second(Macron) is furious, because he understands that the “yellow vests” are about to require similar measures. We’ll have to look for money somewhere. As far as France goes, there’s talk of building new reactors, though that won’t help the immediate situation. Over at chiefio’s there’s a fellow who lives in France saying they’re doing everything they can to get the rest of the reactors that are undergoing maintenance back online…
The real pity (or one of them) is that almost all of the expertise, equipment, tooling, and factories/facilities for what was probably the best nuclear reactor technology has been shut down, abandoned, or moved elsewhere (read: RED China)…

I actually wrote a letter to Elon Musk and mailed it today. Long hand and snail mail so it will take a while if I get a response. I mailed it to the corporate headquarters of Tesla.
I asked him who was paying for the copious amounts of water it takes to extinguish the fires, how the contaminated water was being restored to its original state. If any thought had been given to how this would have an impact on insurance premiums going forward. I told him that he should put his brilliant mind to work and come up with a solution.
I told him the reason I was interested was because my brother was killed in a head on collision last year. The other vehicle was a dump truck and it spilled a tank full of diesel fuel on the roadway. I am the executrix of his estate and I received a letter from Letitia James advising that his estate owed ~$7,000 for the cleanup of the fuel. Thankfully, the insurance company paid the bill for the cleanup. The dump truck was totalled at a cost of $63,000 along with the cleanup cost. The insurance company paid the funeral expense and $2K for the death benefit. That is some big bucks.
This could potentially cripple insurance companies paying for cleanup of contaminated water, plus the cost of the water and the personnel tending the accident. The average person may not be able to afford insurance even if you don’t drive an EV. In my brother’s case, he was driving an older model Ford Ranger and the dump truck wasn’t new.
