A true story:
Dr. Joseph Henry Salisbury (1823 – 1905) served in the Civil War as a physician to the Union Army. The soldiers were dying from diseases — dysentery, typhoid, diarrhea. Dr. Salisbury looked into the diet that the soldiers were being given — which was black coffee, beans, hardtack, and minimal amounts of meat. These items were the cheapest that could be provided in bulk. But, this diet was killing the soldiers via inducing serious deficiencies which then permitted the establishment of serious diseases. Dr. Salisbury decided to change that.
What he did was to prescribe that more meat be given to the soldiers. Lean, chopped beefsteak, cooked. Taken along with coffee. Three times a day. His prescription was implemented. The health and morale of the soldiers began to improve.
Dr. Salisbury invented what is now known as Salisbury Steak: chopped steak (ground beef is mostly used now) mixed with onions and seasoning, covered with a gravy, then broiled. Dr. Salisbury further studied the interaction between diet and disease. He believed that beef was a defense against heart disease and tumors, among other conditions. He published a book on the subject, The Relation of Alimentation and Disease, in 1888.

A recipe from Yours Truly: Almond Butter, Cinnamon, and Chocolate Cookie Sandwiches
Ingredients:
Plain, flat cookies (I use Lotus brand Biscoff Cookies)
Almond butter, any brand (or homemade)
Ground cinnamon
Bar of dark chocolate, broken into small pieces; have an extra bar on hand (I use Dove Dark Chocolate bars, broken into small pieces)
Optional, for those who desire an “adult flavoring”: a favorite liqueur or hard liquor
Method:
On a large plate, place several of the cookies, “name side” down. Have an equal number of cookies at hand to use for the “tops” of the cookie sandwiches.
Combine 2 Tablespoons of the almond butter with a sprinkle or two of the cinnamon. Add 1/2 teaspoon of the “adult flavoring”, if desired. Mix until smooth.
Spread the almond butter mixture evenly, but not thickly, on both the “underneath” cookies and the “tops” cookies. Don’t put them together yet. If more almond butter mixture is needed, make some more. Then, proceed to working with the dark chocolate pieces.
Place several pieces of the broken up dark chocolate bar into a small, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on High just until the chocolate is soft but not “runny.” (Yours Truly uses 15-second time increments for this and checks after each time segment.) Stir the chocolate gently with a small spoon. Drizzle the chocolate on the “underneath” cookies. Cover with the “tops” cookies. Press very lightly together. If more chocolate is needed, microwave some more small pieces until soft but not “runny”, the proceed as above.
Repeat the above method until all the cookies are used.
Put the cookie sandwiches, still on the plate, in the refrigerator for a few hours to chill before serving. It’s all right to “layer” the cookie sandwiches on the plate; just separate the layers of filled cookies with wax paper. Refrigerate leftovers in layers, separated by wax paper, in a covered container.
An 8-oz package of the Lotus brand Biscoff cookies makes about 12 cookie sandwiches. Enjoy!
Bonus: Leftover almond butter + cinnamon + chocolate (+ optional “adult flavoring”) spread is great on toast!

SD: “The Boston University shooter has been identified as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente (48) a Portuguese national, green card holder, and former Brown University student. Claudio Valente was identified and found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a storage facility in New Hampshire.

Claudio Valente was a student at Brown University physics PhD program from the fall of 2000 until taking a leave of absence in April of 2001, Brown University President Christina Paxson said. He formally withdrew from the university in 2003; she told reporters Thursday night.
There is no known motive being discussed, however Valante is also accused of killing MIT Professor Nuno Loureiro, 47, who was fatally shot in his Brookline home on Monday December 15th.
The killer, Valante, and the victim, Professor Loureiro, attended the same university in Portugal.
Before killing MIT Professor Louriero in Massachusetts on Monday, Claudio Valente entered a Brown University study session in the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building and fired 40 rounds from a 9 mm handgun on Saturday (Rhode Island). Two Brown University students, Ella Cook (Alabama) and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov (Uzbekistan) were killed, nine others were injured.
Valante was a resident of Miami Florida; however, in late November he travelled to Boston Massachusetts, rented a vehicle and then traveled to Rhode Island in early December. He was seen in/around the campus of Brown University for around a week before he carried out his mass shooting (Sat).
Valante then traveled back to Boston and reportedly killed MIT Professor Louriero (Mon). The rental vehicle was found in a New Hampshire storage facility along with Valante’s body and the weapons used in the targeted killings.

I could write a 5-page essay full of all of the boilerplate ramblings. IMO the format of these press briefings needs to be evaluated. Expressing condolences and naming the agencies involved and individuals whose work and leadership stood out ONCE should be sufficient, with maybe a reiteration at the end. Then give details about how the work was done, about the perp, etc., because that’s what the public wants to know. We should not have to wait for the media’s questions to learn pertinent details.

Authorities figure out who the killer is within 24 hours, and maybe even contact him at his cell number, telling him to turn himself in.
Claudio sees the walls closing in around him, and checks out.
That’s my guess at this point.

Yup. Other than MK, there is method to the madness.
PCP? Unfortunate acronym. I remember being told in college that PCP was a dog tranquilizer. I never encountered it.
I was a young aspiring chemistry and physics student, when it appeared on the scene, back in the 70s, and I was fascinated by the simple structure yet profound pharmacology. It was notorious for causing a certain phenomenon of intoxicated people who were very difficult to arrest, and who often crashed through picture windows of houses. Some of those windows were not far away, and thus it became of interest.
The thing was, I never heard of anybody taking it. Eventually, by talking to enough people who were taking drugs, or who knew people taking drugs, I figured out that it was probably being sold as something called “T”, which was supposed to be “synthetic THC”, but according to those who took it, produced nothing resembling cannabis in terms of effects. It was cheap as dirt, and competitive with low-grade cannabis. When people took too much of it, they became zombies of the window-crashing type.
IIRC, it was eventually displaced by MDA, MDMA, crack, meth, etc. After a while I didn’t hear much about “T” or PCP any more, either in the news or on the street.
PCP took a much different track than a similar abused drug, ketamine, which is now being considered mostly therapeutic – weirdly, IMO. That’s the one that Elon has supposedly taken. It’s very trendy as a therapeutic.

Kelsey Grammer is one of those rare Hollywood types who is very open about the fact that he is a conservative Republican and Trump supporter. There are a few others but they are definitely a minority in the entertainment industry.
Grammer recently appeared on Tomi Lahren’s podcast and made a point about where we are as a country and where things are headed politically. It is something that every Trump supporter needs to hear.
Grammer goes over some examples of recent left wing extremism and then reminds everyone that while Trump has absorbed everything that the left has thrown at him, he is no longer standing ‘in the gap’ as Grammer puts it. The left is coming after all of us and at the end of the day, we are all basically on our own as people. It’s not a criticism of Trump as much as it is just common sense.

Earlier this month, Fulton County admitted that approximately 315,000 early votes from the 2020 election were illegally certified but were nonetheless still included in the final results of that election.
The admission came during a Dec. 9 hearing before the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) stemming from a challenge filed by David Cross, a local election integrity activist. Cross filed a challenge with the SEB in March 2022. Cross alleged that Fulton County violated Georgia statute in the handling of advanced voting ahead of the November 2020 election, counting hundreds of thousands of votes even though polling workers failed to sign off on the vote tabulation “tapes” critical to the certification process.
And Fulton County admitted to it.
Ann Brumbaugh, attorney for the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections, told the SEB in the hearing that while she has “not seen the tapes” herself, the county does “not dispute that the tapes were not signed.” Brumbaugh continued, “It was a violation of the rule. We, since 2020, again, we have new leadership and a new building and a new board and a new standard operating procedures. And since then the training has been enhanced. … But … we don’t dispute the allegation from the 2020 election.”
Georgia’s Secretary of State Office investigated the alleged failure to sign tabluation tapes and “substantiated” the findings that Fulton County “violated Official Election Record Document Processes when it was discovered that thirty-six (36) out of thirty-seven (37) Advanced Voting Precincts in Fulton County, Georgia failed to sign the Tabulation Tapes as required [by statute],” according to a 2024 investigation summary. In addition to probing the unsigned tabulation tapes, the investigation also found that officials at 32 polling sites failed to verify their zero tapes.
Georgia law requires that election officials have each ballot scanner print three closing tapes at the end of each voting day. Poll workers must sign these tapes or include a documented reason for refusal. Voting laws also require poll workers to begin each day of voting by printing and signing a “zero tape” showing that voting machines are starting at zero votes.
If there is no record of whether the tabulator was set at zero at the start of polling, there is no way of telling whether ballots from a previous election (or ballots from a test run) were left on the memory card and might later be counted. Notably, this happened in Montana, where officials discovered more votes than were cast and believe the votes were leftover sample data that had not been cleared.
“These signed tapes are the sole legal certification that the reported totals are authentic,” Cross told the SEB at the Dec. 9 hearing. “Fulton County produced zero signed tabulator tapes in early voting.”
Cross stated that he obtained 77 megabytes of election records from Fulton County through an open records request that cost $15,800. According to Cross, these included 134 tabulator tapes, representing 315,000 votes. Each signature block on these tapes was blank, Cross said.
Cross also highlighted additional irregularities, such as polling locations being open at “impossibly late hours, like 2:09 a.m.” Cross also said that he found “duplicated scanner serial numbers, where the memory devices were removed from one scanner and printed on an alternate scanner.”
“These are not clerical errors. They are catastrophic breaks in chain of custody and certification,” Cross said.
“Because no tape was ever legally certified, Fulton County had no lawful authority to certify its advanced voting results to the secretary of state. Yet it did,” Cross said. “And Secretary Raffensperger accepted and folded those uncertified numbers into Georgia’s official total without questioning them. This is not partisan. This is statutory. This is the law. When the law demands three signatures on tabulator tapes and the county fails to follow the rules, those 315,000 votes are, by definition, uncertified.”
Kevin Moncla, an election integrity activist who has been at the forefront of these challenges, estimates the number is likely higher than 315,000.

Therefore, it is not surprising that any adverse events occurring during these periods may have a negative impact upon psychomotor development.
In 1968, Dobbing (1) suggested that there were vulnerable periods of neurological development that coincided with times of maximal brain growth. These periods begin during foetal development at around the 25th week of gestation and continue for the first two years of postnatal life. Nutrient deficiencies occurring during these vulnerable periods may well have an impact upon brain growth and, hence, neurological and psychomotor development. (1) These nutrient deficits have subsequently been shown to result in more functional deficiencies rather than physical abnormalities. Not only is optimal nutrition essential for achieving optimal physical and psychosocial development, but it also appears to have significant disease implications for later in adult life. Barker and his epidemiology group in the UK proposed that not only intrauterine malnutrition, but also poor weight gain in the first year of life, was associated with an increased incidence of cardiovascular disease (particularly in adults aged >50 years), hypertension and glucose intolerance during adulthood. (2) Their retrospective, epidemiological report has been supported by several studies on the Netherlands famine during World War II, which affected women during early, mid and late stages of gestation. Development of functional activity may be associated with myelination. Many nerve fibres are covered with a whitish, fatty, segmented sheath called the myelin sheath. Myelin protects and electrically insulates fibres from one another and increases the speed of transmission of the nerve impulses. Myelinated fibres conduct nerve impulses rapidly, whereas unmyelinated fibres tend to conduct quite slowly. This acceleration of nerve conduction is essential for the function of the body and survival. In humans, the myelin sheath begins to appear around the fourth month of foetal development and first appears in the spinal cord before spreading to the higher centres of the brain. It is assumed that this myelination precedes functional activity. The lack of meat in the diets of the soldiers was likely causing zinc deficiency.
Lack of zinc depresses the immune system, causes fatigue and irritability, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and slow healing wounds. All of which are not good when you are fighting a war!
I buy almost all my meat from a local butcher/processor. They have weekly sales, so I buy in bulk, wrap and freeze it myself. It has kept us in beef several times a week so far. Most seafood sucks anymore (I won’t eat farmed; it is gross and awful), and I only buy chickens from the Hutterites. They cost more, but are far and away better.

Buy a quarter or half of beef with daughter/SIL, sometimes with another couple. Freeze. Supplement from a regional grocer on Angus from a farm we know about in KY. We only buy non-farmed salmon. We buy Gerber Amish Farms chicken products. We buy pork products from a local slaughterhouse that buys hogs from local farmers.
All of the above are excellent. Never a problem on quality.

Retired NASCAR driver GREG BIFFLE, his wife, and Biffle’s two children (one with this now-deceased wife, the other with his first wife), along with three other passengers, were all killed when Biffle’s private jet crashed yesterday at the regional airport in Statesville, NC, while attempting to make an emergency landing. The plane had taken off from this airport yesterday morning. Mr. Biffle was piloting the plane.
Greg Biffle was an experienced pilot. He was a jet pilot and also a helicopter pilot.
Mr. Biffle flew his personal helicopter for a couple of weeks to help in the aftermath of the Hurricane Helene disaster in western North Carolina.
Yours Truly is hearing unconfirmed reports on radio news that the jet’s transponder system was turned off, and/or that the entire electrical system of the plane was turned off, before the crash.

President Trump Announces Nine New Big Pharma “Most Favored Nation Status” Signees Today – HUGE Implications for Healthcare Costs!
Today, President Donald Trump announced the “Largest Development to Date in Bringing Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) Pricing to American Patients via the White House website and an Oval Office press conference.
The new agreements announced this afternoon include nine major pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Amgen, Bristol Myers Squibb, Boehringer Ingelheim, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, GSK, Merck, Novartis, and Sanofi, and will help “reduce prices on drugs that treat numerous costly and chronic conditions, including type two diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, asthma, COPD, hepatitis B and C, HIV, and certain cancers,” according to the White House Fact Sheet.
The agreements will provide “every State Medicaid program in the country [with] access to MFN drug prices on products made by the nine companies” which will result in “billions of dollars in savings” to American taxpayers.
Today, during a press conference, President Trump announced the deal while highlighting that America has just 4% of the world’s population and we consume 13% of the world’s prescription drugs. But, most shockingly, we account for 75% of Big Pharma’s profits.
That ends now. And it is in part thanks to President Trump’s favorite word: tariffs.
The MFN will essentially require the Big Pharma powerhouses to sell their respective drugs in the United States for the lowest price offered in the other nations.
As an example, President Trump highlighted the price reduction of a blood thinner from Sanofi Pharmaceuticals that used to cost $750 now down to less than $16 and HIV medication from Bristol Myers Squibb that used to cost nearly $1500 down to $217. He also announced that a hepatitis B medication will decrease from $1400 to $413.
Lastly, President Trump mentioned a hepatitis C medication from Gilead that previously cost from nearly $25,000 to less than $2,500.

When caving in the 70s, we were in outback Mexico. We met the sheriff of a small village in the mountains. He worked in the USA picking crops for several years. He save that money and is now the BIG MAN in his village. He was maybe 40 if that.

Roberto was originally from Guatemala. He’d come up to live with his sister in the SF Bay Area during the dry season and work random labor. After the season ended, he’d buy a bunch of stuff — chainsaws, power tools, hand tools….and palletize it, then ship it to himself in Guatemala where he’d use it, hand it out for favors, or sell it.
We would always joke that he’d get on the plane in his grungy work clothes and change during the flights so that he’d step off the plane as Don Roberto, in a white suit and Panama hat. He did this for years.
Then (as I understand it), his wife’s relations decided he had amassed sufficient wealth and took it, explaining that he’d be killed if he came back to Guatemala again.
Learned two younger family members who are still in the 60’s, have experienced recent health issues and have been taking the jabs since the beginning. One had to have a stent ue to a 99% blocked artery. She nearly died on a trip to Slovakia to see family. The other has lung/pulmonary issues. They went to a wellness center in FL to detox, but we all know that is not enough. The doc did tell them to stop being jabbed and they agreed. But they never want to know what others do that may offer a better way. If a conversation starts up, they walk away.
I am frustrated about it. Want them to know a better way, but they are locked in to believing their docs.
