Boozy Root Beer Float

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce rum
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
  • Root beer (such as A&W or Dad’s Root Beer), chilled, to top

Author’s note: NO NO NO, Sioux City Sassporilla

Steps

  1. Add the rum and ice cream into a tall glass.
  2. Slowly pour the root beer into the glass until it’s full, then stir gently and briefly to combine.

After doing some research about the origins of the Chevron ruling, I found some pretty interesting discussions about this ruling when it first started. This discovery adds significant meaning to the recent SCOTUS ruling that has undone this rapidly expanding, dangerous, overreaching doctrine. First of all, the Supreme Court’s Chevron decision began on June 25th, 1984. The SCOTUS decision REQUIRED the courts to give federal agencies the benefit of the doubt and room to flex their governing muscles when interpreting and applying ambiguous and limited language federal statutes. Essentially, federal agencies were given power to establish rules, regulations, and fines for what they alone deemed to be prudent in their positions of control over businesses and the citizenry of the United States with ZERO Congressional oversight. Some opposition groups called it a “blank check” for bureaucratic overreach and abuse. The timing of the ruling is also important to understand. Ronald Reagan was 6 months into his 2nd four year term when 6 SCOTUS justices voted in favor of the Chevron doctrine. George H W Bush was by is VP. Three liberals, one centrist, and two conservative Supreme Court justices voted in favor of the ruling. If you know Reagan’s time in office, you know he faced many oppositions, one of which was a liberal leaning Supreme Court. Reagan wanted to limit government size and overreach and to prevent governmental abuse of power. That was directly countered by giving the Chevron doctrine life and support. Though perhaps misunderstood by the SCOTUS at the time to the abuse of power it would create and enable, the ruling was in complete opposition to Reagan’s style of governing because it recklessly allowed government overreach. The current SCOTUS undid this terrible doctrine, almost 40 years to the day since it was established by the 1984 SCOTUS. There is something else to this, something huge, that I will be sharing in the coming days that will strike deeply in the hearts and minds of Patriots that followed Q drops. A proof that may take the award for the most important proof we’ve seen to date. Once I put that thread together, you’ll know what I’m referring to.

In what is generally a slow news day and news weekend (4th of July weekend), mainstream media networks have many of their key journalists canceling their holiday plans and have told them to be on standby for tomorrow (July4th) and July 5th since they were told they didn’t need to be at their studios for the next few days. Many are obviously out and traveling on Independence Day, and the day after (5th) is typically one of the slowest news days of the year. News networks are anticipating a timed announcement about Biden ending his Presidential campaign but the Biden staff call indicated the White House is still planning their July 4th BBQ as if everything is normal. The dilemma is now that time is of the essence, the entire world is wondering what

@JoeBiden will do next following meetings at the White House today, but most Americans are traveling for the holiday and would be distracted if a major announcement was made. Kind of poetic that Biden’s demise peaked on Independence Day Weekend. Talk about fireworks!

DEAR MAGA: TGIF Open Thread 20240628

Miami Vice

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces rum, divided
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped
  • 1 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 ounces cream of coconut
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • Garnish: pineapple slice

Steps

  1. In a blender, add 1 ounce of the rum, strawberries, lime juice, simple syrup and 1 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into a hurricane glass and set in the freezer.
  3. Wash and dry the blender thoroughly.
  4. In the clean blender jar, add the remaining 1 ounce of rum, cream of coconut, pineapple juice and 1 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
  5. Pour into the hurricane glass that already contains the Strawberry Daiquiri, creating a layered effect.
  6. Garnish with a pineapple slice.

I promised an interview with Father Charles Murr, an American priest living in Spain who knows oodles about the insider world of the Church. His books are definitely worth the time, IMO, and he agrees with the author of The Saint Gallen Mafia, Julia Meloni, that the 2013 Conclave that, ahem, elected Jorge Bergoglio pope is suspect. Dwell in the House of the LORD

At the close of one of the most soul-soothing passages in all the Bible, King David triumphantly announced, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD” (Psalm 23:6).

Being in God’s presence meant everything to David. Since he shared such a close relationship with the Lord, David could picture himself as a permanent resident in God’s house, basking in His constant goodness, love, and care every day. And because death held the promise of eternal life in God’s heavenly kingdom, David looked forward to the intimate and never-ending fellowship of dwelling in the house of the Lord.

The word dwell in Psalm 23:6 means “to inhabit or live.” The house of the Lord is a term often referring to the tabernacle, the temple, or the place of worship (as in Psalm 122:1). But here in Psalm 23:6 the phrase speaks explicitly of “a dwelling house, palace, or local residence of a deity.”

The presence of God is the believer’s true home (Psalm 42:1–4; 84:1–4). “Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house,” declared David in Psalm 65:4. And again in Psalm 27:4, we read of David’s passionate and singular pursuit: “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple” (Psalm 27:4). To dwell in the house of the Lord was David’s deepest longing. Scripture says he was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22; 1 Samuel 13:14).

Like David, the apostle Paul was sure that nothing in this life, not even death itself, could separate him from the loving presence of God: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39).

While preaching on Psalm 23, Charles Spurgeon said, “While I am here I will be a child alone with my God; the whole world will be His house to me; and when I ascend unto the upper chamber I shall not change my company, nor even change the house. I shall only go to dwell in the upper story of the house of the Lord”.

To dwell in the house of the Lord also suggests living with an attitude of heart that expresses constant praise and worship. In Psalm 34:1, David exclaimed, “I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises”. Another psalmist declared, “What joy for those who can live in your house, always singing your praises” (Psalm 84:4).

According to Psalm 84:10, one day spent worshiping in God’s house is better than a thousand anywhere else. The verse continues: “I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked”. “Praise the LORD!” says another psalm. “Let all that I am praise the LORD. I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath” (Psalm 146:1–2).

The good things that God provides for us in this life are merely a foretaste of what awaits us in heaven (1 Corinthians 2:9; Isaiah 64:4). A glorious future day is coming when all the redeemed of the Lord will gather around the Lord’s table in His eternal house (Isaiah 25:6–9; Matthew 22:1–14; Luke 13:29–30; Revelation 19:9; 21:2–4). In heaven, as we dwell in the house of the Lord, we will enjoy full, uninterrupted communion with God (1 Corinthians 13:12).
