How to Contact Authors on This Site

Recently, I got an excellent request from a member here, asking if I could forward their email address to one of the authors here, along with the nature of their question for the author, so that a private discussion could ensue.

On any normal blog, this might have happened – but not here – and there is a reason.

It turns out that – as far as I am aware, or can remember – I have NEVER given any of the email addresses of anybody here to anybody else.

I know that this gives people like cthulhu great joy and peace of mind.

I love being able to say that, too. Even if I did give out a single email with permission, I would then have to qualify my answer. I would have to say something like “I have NEVER given any of the email addresses of anybody here to anybody else, except one time with permission.”

YUCK! That just doesn’t sound as strong.

No authors or moderators (there are no mods) have access to these email addresses. Only me. Technically, our hosting company does as well, but they’re actually pretty good about privacy, so the only people besides me who have access to the email addresses are basically the intelligence community. And they’re going to hide their sources and methods.

So I’m just not going to do it. BUT – I have several great alternatives.

Use Private Message To Wolf (with underscores) on the Author’s Own Thread

The “Private Message To Wolf” function (a.k.a., PMTW) is discussed on the Contact Page.

If you don’t mind ME seeing a question to an author, you can just do a “PMTW” on the author’s post (meaning THEY are the author of the article/daily/whatever), and both ME and the author will see it. Well, hopefully. Some authors will just ignore “orange comments” that drop into the moderation bin, so you are taking a chance.

There is another problem with using PMTW – there is no way to private message BACK. You would have to be answered in public. Yes, you can use PMTW to pass on an email address, but even that is a bit sketchy. What if your PMTW has an error, and accidentally posts so that the whole public sees it? Yes, that can happen.

All of this leads to the next option.

Contact the Author Using Gab Chat or Twitter DMs

This is my favorite.

Gab Chat is right on the home page menu when you log into Gab. You simply click on “Chats” in the menu. It’s not the same as the old highly secure Gab Chat with end-to-end encryption, but it’s still good, and better than Twitter right now. And you CAN use the end-to-end encrypted Gab Chat, too, if both of you have it.

To contact somebody on Gab, you need to be on Gab, and then to know their handle. Go to their page and click on the two-bubble chat icon.

IMPORTANT! If you want to make sure the person sees your message, tell them on this site in a reply, that they have a Gab message waiting.

Here are the author handles on Gab:

Wolf Moon – @ WOLFM00N

TradeBait2 – @ TradeBait

Deplorable Patriot – @ FlyoverDeplorablePatriot

SteveInCO – @ SteveInCO

bakocarl – @ bakocarl

Aubergine – @ frznpch

michaelh – @ mhtx76

Gail Combs – @ GC0mbs [note the zero]

Valerie Curren – @ ValerieCurren

To contact somebody on Twitter, you need to be on Twitter, and POSSIBLY to be following each other. It depends on how permissive people have set their DMs.

Here are the author handles on Twitter:

Wolf Moon – @ WOLFM00N

TradeBait2 – none

Deplorable Patriot – @ LaughLoveLive1

SteveInCO – none

bakocarl – none

Aubergine – @ frznpch

michaelh – @ mhtx76 [suspended]

Gail Combs – none

Valerie Curren – @ ValerieCurren [seems to be no longer suspended]

Twitter is not as good as Gab, in my opinion, because Twitter DMs are all visible to the entire Regime AND the DNC. Gab is much preferred, IMO.

Hopefully this helps. If you have questions, comment below!

Gab Chat and Private Messaging Are BACK!

This is just to let you know that Gab Chat and Private Messaging are BACK and in BETA TEST – but the beta product is REALLY GOOD (although it does NOT work on Firefox yet – BECAUSE FIREFOX).

REPEAT – GAB CHAT AND PRIVATE MESSAGING DOES NOT WORK ON FIREFOX YET! PLEASE USE ANOTHER BROWSER FOR NOW!

Let’s take a closer (if slightly stretched) look at that…..

Gab needs more people on it for testing, so GIT YOU AZZEZ ON IT, PEEPS!

Here is a sample of what it looks like right now, for me.

IMPORTANT!!! Note my “handle” @WOLFM00N in the upper left-hand corner. THAT is important. THAT is where you will find notifications and invitations – by clicking on it.

Along the left, and down a bit, you will find private rooms, private messages, and public rooms.

All of these are fundamentally the same, but there are slight differences which define them.

Private rooms are named rooms, to which the owner/starter invites others

Private messages are basically un-named, invited rooms – conversations, usually between 2 individuals, but there can be more than 2 in the room.

Public rooms are like private rooms, only the URL for the room can be shared, and people don’t have to be invited – they can just walk in. Both of the images above, are of public rooms.

Gab Chat is still a work in progress, as you can see from this Gab post by Andrew Torba, the founder and CEO of Gab.

LINK: https://gab.com/a/posts/103609187563067980

This means that they are integrating Gab Chat into Gab, so that it’s easy to go from one to the other. This way, you’ll be able to click a button in Gab to PM/DM somebody.

SO – how do you GET ON GAB CHAT?

Here is a YouTube video that may help:

FIRST make sure that you can get on Gab – back on your old account. You will need your Gab user name and password. If you have forgotten them, your user name might be HERE:

QTREEPERS ON GAB: https://wqth.wordpress.com/2019/03/10/q-treepers-on-gab/

Then, if you’ve forgotten you password, you will need to at least still be able to get into your email address that you signed up with.

Then, no matter what, you need to go here…..

GAB: https://gab.com/

THEN, once you’ve taken care of your Gab account, to make sure it’s working, if necessary, you need to head over to Gab Chat, here:

GAB CHAT: https://chat.gab.com/

You will be asked to log into your Gab account. That means that you need to know your username and password, exactly as we prepared.

Next, however, is the tricky part.

You will generate ENCRYPTION KEYS (actually, Gab will do it for you), and those keys will be protected by a password, which can be anything meeting the minimum requirements. It can be identical to your Gab password, or something different. Whatever that password is, you MUST remember it – particularly if you try to access your chat messages from a new device. Do whatever you have to do to NOT lose that password.

Here is what Gab says will happen if you lose your chat key password:

Please do not lose or forget this password. Gab cannot restore your Security Keys. The password you enter now will be used to encrypt your private key. If you lose or forget this password, you will no longer be able to decrypt messages send to you while you were using these keys.

Gab Chat instructions

At that point, you’re ready to chat.

I suggest that you send me, @WOLFM00N (with TWO zeroes in “M00N”), a new private message, and then I will invite you into the The Q Tree Members group. If you’re an author, you’ll also get an invitation to the The Q Tree Authors group, which is like the other, only more boring and concerned with infrastructure and groundskeeping.

I don’t know if there is a size limit to our group. I’m hoping there is not.

I will add more instructions and details here as needed, as we get some experience signing up.

So far, Deplorable Patriot (@FlyoverDeplorablePatriot a.k.a. Bohemian Flair Crochet) has successfully chatted with me and joined the groups. WE NEED MOAR!

PM me, friends!

New Link Limit and New Private Contact Method

I have just raised the LINK LIMIT (where you get moderated) from 4 to 10.

Thus, you can put up to *9* links in a post now.

Notice, however, that this makes CONTACTING ME by “too many links” somewhat inconvenient.

Therefore, I have a new method – a PASSWORD to put into a post for private contact through moderation.

PRIVATE_MESSAGE_TO_WOLF

Please use this RARELY – I prefer openness.

This is for the most “delicate” matters only, and bear in mind that I ALWAYS reserve the right to talk publicly about anything brought to me in private, as this is frequently the best resolution (and also the best way to avoid being set up by communists and other forms of criminals).

I *may* keep YOU confidential, but not the topic. NO EXPECTATION OF “PRIVACY” AS AN ANONYMOUS USER. Although I will never reveal your private information unless legally forced to do so with a WARRANT from a JUDGE specifically for a criminal case brought before me.

Otherwise, I want a DATE with Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett! 😉

I may also choose to simply IGNORE messages, although this is often because I have far too many posts to look at, and miss some.

OK? Are we good?

That’s why it’s just better to discuss in public.

Here it is again:

PRIVATE_MESSAGE_TO_WOLF

That has THREE underscores – NOT spaces – in it. That way you can say “Did you think about sending a private message to wolf?” and it won’t go into moderation!

Again: PRIVATE_MESSAGE_TO_WOLF

I have put this information on the CONTACT page in case you forget.

Repeating in text for the visually impaired….

Muchas gracias!!!
I have a new method of contacting me. Just do a post with this in it:
PRIVATE_MESSAGE_TO_WOLF
Note that there are three underscores, so that if you say “private message to wolf” in conversation, it won’t accidentally send it into moderation.
Let’s test it!
I just upped it to 10 links to go to moderation, too.

Wow…9 links.
I don’t think I have ever tried that many.
I may go slow and just try doing 5 or 6, for starters.
Heheh.

Test of new private message contact system

So remember – if you use 4 links now – it GOES PUBLIC!!! 😮

Instead, use: PRIVATE_MESSAGE_TO_WOLF

It can be anywhere in the post, but at the beginning helps!!!

Are we good? Of course we’re good! 😉
