The Christian life is supposed to be a life lived by faith. It is by faith that we enter into the Christian life, and it is by faith that we live it out. When we begin the Christian life by coming to Christ for forgiveness of sin, we understand that what we seek cannot be obtained by any other means than by faith. We cannot work our way to heaven, because nothing we could ever do would be sufficient. Those who believe they can attain eternal life by keeping rules and regulations—a list of do’s and don’ts—deny what the Bible clearly teaches. “But that no one is justified by the Law in the sight of God is clear, for, ‘The just shall live by faith’” (Galatians 3:11). The Pharisees of Jesus’ day rejected Christ because He told them this very truth, that all their righteous deeds were worthless and that only faith in their Messiah would save them.
In Romans 1, Paul says that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power that saves us, the gospel being the good news that all who believe in Him will have eternal life. When we enter into the Christian life by faith in this good news, we see our faith grow as we come to know more and more about the God who saved us. The gospel of Christ actually reveals God to us as we live to grow closer to Him each day. Romans 1:17 says, “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” So part of the Christian life is diligent reading and study of the Word, accompanied by prayer for understanding and wisdom and for a closer, more intimate relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.
The Christian life is also supposed to be one of death to self in order to live a life by faith. Paul told the Galatians, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Being crucified with Christ means that we consider our old nature as having been nailed to the cross and we choose to live in the new nature, which is Christ’s (2 Corinthians 5:17). He who loved us and died for us now lives in us, and the life we live is by faith in Him. Living the Christian life means sacrificing our own desires, ambitions, and glories and replacing them with those of Christ. We can only do this by His power through the faith that He gives us by His grace. Part of the Christian life is praying to that end.
The Christian life is also supposed to persevere to the end. Hebrews 10:38-39 addresses this issue by quoting from the Old Testament prophet Habukkuk: “Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” God is not pleased with one who “draws back” from Him after making a commitment, but those who live by faith will never draw back, because they are kept by the Holy Spirit who assures us that we will continue with Christ until the end (Ephesians 1:13-14). The writer of Hebrews goes on to verify this truth in verse 39: “But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” The true believer is one who believes to the end.
So the Christian life is one lived by faith in the God who saved us, empowers us, seals us for heaven, and by whose power we are kept forever. The day-to-day life of faith is one that grows and strengthens as we seek God in His Word and through prayer and as we unite with other Christians whose goal of Christlikeness is similar to our own.

Tony is a good guy! I spent years on his blog until Trump ran for president. Then I migrated to the Conservative Tree House, then here.
There seems to be a mental virus among the top climate skeptics that Trump is accidentally right on many things, but that he’s stupid, wrong, or a chump on the rest The “Trump is a baby” and “Trumpneedsta” mentalities. Zero belief that Trump might be smart or strategic.

People need to read Sundance’s new post. Think he has met with Pres. Trump and 8-15 may be huge. Pray for our country and for Pres. Trump and family. We all need to be on high alert this week. I sound as if I might know more than I do, just passing on what I gleaned from comenters there and from friends.

Sundance rumors are starting to blend, IMO. I think some which are purposefully wrong are being promoted by shills, including WuMao (Chinese trolls), Brock types, Eeyores, CIA, NeverTrump, etc.
They’re really pushing “anti-Pence” stuff.
SD came after all the commenters, hard, in the comments section of that thread, saying people were missing the point and focusing on the wrong things. When you ask questions and present a mystery, though, it is human nature to speculate and try to solve it.
I was hoping SD would do that – I missed what you’re talking about (I saw the thread very early). Yeah, he has opened up for speculation, and some of the speculations are (IMO) intentionally WAY TOO BIG for the simple reason of undermining the message when the real stuff comes out.
Here is another issue tying into the push against Pence from a completely different angle, but yeah, that’s how they work. Pence looking “bad” from two different situations = “believable”. Note that Pence would be “too big a fish”, and thus a way to call the likely person that SD reveals “puny”.

No problem! I was talking about the wild theories EVERYWHERE about SD’s mystery and mystery trips. They are literally all over the place, including SD + Trump, Pence is the bad guy, Gauhar is the bad girl, certain legislators are the bad guy, SD met with [fill in the blank], etc. Wild stuff, much of it far beyond what I think he proved.
Well, S.D. stoked the curiosity a about where he went and what he was doing and whom he met with. If he didn’t want people to conjecture, he should either have been up front or kept quiet.

No need for an apology. It is just as I thought, that some people are speculating. Because SD has surrounded everything in mystery, some people believe he is so influential that he could meet with the president. (And they take his every theory as fact.) Effectiveness of Ivermectin as add-on Therapy in COVID-19 Management (Pilot Trial)
Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of ivermectin (IVM) as add-on therapy to hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and azithromycin (AZT) in treatment of COVID-19. Methods: This Pilot clinical trial conducted on hospitalized adult patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 diagnosed according to WHO interim guidance.
Sixteen Patients received a single dose of IVM 200Mcg /kg on admission day as add on therapy to hydroxychloroquine ( HCQ)and Azithromycin (AZT) and were compared with 71 controls received HCQ and AZT.
Results: All the patients of IVM group were cured compared with the controls [ 16 (100 %) vs 69 (97.2 %)]. Two patients died in the controls. The mean time to stay in the hospital was significantly lower in IVM group compared with the controls (7.62 ±2.75 versus 13.22 ±.90 days, p=0.00005, effect size= 0.82). No adverse events were observed
Conclusions : Add-on use of IVM to HCQ and AZT had better effectiveness, shorter hospital stay, and was relatively safe compared with controls.

The result with Ivermectin is interesting (very interesting), but also note that the HCQ/AZT only group was hospitalized. If HCQ is authorized at all, TPTB are trying to relegate it to outpatients, before hospitalization. It’s not supposed to work well for hospitalized patients . . . and certainly not many times better than the highly touted but basically impotent Remdesivir.
But . . . 97.2% of the infected and hospitalized HCQ control group survived the experience. Not a bad cure percentage for a drug that’s not supposed to be effective for later stages of the coronavirus infection.

You will see that there is no mention of zinc, and that’s critical, because zinc could actually be a factor here, as well as many other things.
They did NOT run the ivermectin study and the “only HCQ/AZT control” at the same time. The non-ivermectin HCQ study was simply done BEFORE the study WITH ivermectin. Zinc was UNCONTROLLED. This means that simply changing the food in the cafeteria could change the results.
Not just that – there could have been other changes at the hospital, that we don’t know about.
So some differences, take with a grain of salt.

Regarding the Floodwatch on China’s Three Gorges Dam:
The ChiComs have declared it “illegal” to report on the conditions at the Three Gorges Dam…and are arresting anyone who tries to post anything about it.
They say it’s “misinformation” — and they have declared it a crime.
So, reports have been scarce the last two days.
I don’t know if that means that things have gotten worse, or what…but the water from heavy rains west of the Dam is probably making its way down to it by now.
In Mike Adams’ Health Ranger podcast, he talks about how many Nuclear Power Plants are downstream from the 3 Gorges Dam.
There are dozens of them!
So if the Dam goes…we’re looking at multiple disasters like the Fukushima plant in Japan.

A non-profit group says more than a half-million inaccurate applications for absentee ballots were mistakenly sent across Virginia this week — including to dead voters, errant relatives and even a pet — in an unprecedented mailing flub that has heightened concerns about the integrity of expanding mail-in voting efforts.
The mistakes raised alarms with recipients as diverse as election monitors, members of the League of Women Voters and a retired FBI agent. The Center for Voter Information, the nonprofit group that sent the mailers with pre-filled absentee ballots, is now apologizing.
The Center for Voter Information said the absentee application mailings were sent to “eligible voters” in the state and “some of the mailers may have directed the return envelopes” for the absentee applications to the wrong election offices.
The counties impacted by inaccurate mailings included Fairfax City, Fairfax County, Franklin City, Franklin County, Richmond City, Richmond County, Roanoke City and Roanoke County.

when I was growing up, the house across the street blew up–underground gas leak. luckily the older woman who owned the home was not home, so it was not a deadly tragedy–but our house shook from the blast—never forgot it.
We spent a month hiking in New Zealand and had quite a few minor earthquakes in the north island. One time we were sitting at the bar in our hotel and all the hanging fruit baskets started a mad dance, the first indication of the quake. Instinct is to grab on and hold tight.
Another time while visiting parents in Oregon, at 6 am a “train” came barreling through the house” or so we thought at the time. They are loud!
But the most interesting is Japan, where earthquakes and typhoons are common-place. I was attending an opera in Tokyo. Almost at the beginning of the performance, the seats started violently shaking…the Japanese people around me indicated it was an earthquake and remain calm. But, in this particular opera there was a big, winding staircase as a major part of the stage set. During the quake it became detached and started rolling across the stage with the on-stage performers scrambling to get out of the path. The curtains quickly closed and there was quite a long pause to not only calm the cast from Slovakia down but to reset the stage. They started the performance over again. (BTW, think of a Slovakian opera company, performing in Italian with Japanese subtitles on the overhead screen…it was a bit surreal for me.)

The Durham area where I’m currently staying felt it. I think an aftershock hit about 5 minutes ago, made a sound like a garbage can being dropped on the roof.
Then you are not far from me. (We did a birthday party in Durham yesterday evening — NO MASKS!)
You felt a 3 but apparently closer to the epicenter it got up into “very noticeable” territory. (Many people don’t notice a 3.)

We had a 5-pointer here in OK back in 2009 and we felt it even though it was over 60 miles away.
It shook the house but nothing fell.

Hope NC residents have earthquake insurance (& TN too + MO, KY, etc.). We lived in NC (just outside of RTP) for 12 yrs and always had an earthquake rider on our home insurance. It is not automatic. Does’t cost much because earthquakes in the Carolinas are infrequent … but they do happen. See Charleston Earthquake – Huge1
Here in TN we have a seperate policy, $120 a yr. See 1811 when the trees fell, structures collapsed, Mississippi ran backwards and Reel Foot Lake was created by an earthquake/series of earthquakes.
We don’t do much except for having our home owners earthquake coverage, making sure bookcases and cabinets are attached to the walls & securing heavy pictures. Plus, making sure canning jar shelves/storage have a little extra protection so they don’t slide of the shelf, having a low bar around the shelves, just in case.
Additional – knowing how to turn off the water at the house &/or from the main and how to turn off the gas/propane ASAP if a big earthquake comes + making sure propane tanks are secure. Sometimes those big 500 gallon tanks are on slight or significant inclines. Of course, it would take a big earthquake to dislodge them as they are so heavy.
Anyway, things we have thought about as home owners in NC and TN. Think about, take a few actions and get a little info and then forget about & hopefully never need it!
The New Madrid Fault has had a number of stress relieving tremors during my lifetime. It still could go at anytime, though, hence the stringent building codes here. Even the Arch has enough clearance on both sides that it won’t hit anything if it falls over in a strong quake.
If you are ever in Columbia, SC, don’t miss visiting the Capitol Statehouse…it’s beautiful! But, also interesting is something most visitors are unaware of…a wide and deep, stone-filled trench completely around the building to act as an earthquake barrier to absorb the shock waves before they hit the building itself. Think of it as wooded barrier islands protecting the mainland for storms.
If I recall correctly, it wasn’t a modern-day afterthought but was part of the early construction plans.

When the Transamerica Pyramid opened in San Francisco, for 2 wks they had the Architectural Drawings on display in the Lobby.
This structure was built on HUGE Teflon barrel-shaped bearings…so in a quake, the entire Building actually moved.

Think that type of architecture design is fairly common today is earthquake-prone areas….new construction in Japan, for example. It would be interesting to see a slow-motion video of a skyscraper swaying during an earthquake…I seem to remember one several years ago when it was first used. Having experienced several hurricanes and watching the palm trees sway almost to the ground, I wonder if, like so many things in life, if man took their clue from nature and adapted it to man-made objects. 😉 spiderwebs, anyone?
Earthquake insurance here, no one has except those who can afford it. Its about 1000 a year or more.
Always figured if there is a horrendous quake where I live, the Feds will be tossing money or low to no interest loans all about.
The one time I did price earthquake ins in CA, the price was obscene. What the insurance covered or did not cover, deductibles made it a poor choice.

We pay ~$30 a quarter for our earthquake insurance here in TN. Very affordable.
In NC we paid a rider to our State Farm, couple hundred a year at most and I think I am pretty sure it was less than $200. We lived in Durham, just outside of RTP. Our agent had never had anyone request it and wasn’t part of our regular home insurance. Have to add it. Ask b/c you might not be covered for earthquake damage otherwise.
Very affordable in most states where an earthquake is unlikely. Much more expensive to be without it and a big earthquake hits, ruins foundations, etc. and costs of multiple $1,000s.
We have had 2 homes burn to the ground in the last 10 months in our county with no fire insurance/home owners. Left distitute. Expensive to have, more expensive not to have it.
One of the expenses to consider when buying a house.
Mortgage + taxes + full coverage insurance + maintenance (small routine to big like window/door/roof replacements, plumbing/electrical works, etc.) + property upkeep (trees, driveways and more routine like lawn care and building upkeep) = can we afford this house?
Too many just consider their mortgage/taxes. Can always scale back the house to own a house one can afford to insure.
We always do flood insurance too. Same principle.
a) if the insurance is too expensive then the house is too expensive for us
b) if the insurance company knows the liklihood of disaster is that likely then maybe we should move to another location as its not just about the house!
c) if its expensive to insure its even more expensive to be uninsured and dependent on fellow taxpayers for help if/when disaster comes. heck, even with insurance will probably need plenty of help in a disaster!
Just food for thought as I would hate to see online “friends” have an avoidable economic disaster coupled wiht a natural disaster
Flood insurance is just as expensive and mudslides, floods arent covered under lots of policies. This is California specific. The politics of the left, laws created that force purchases, high taxes, legal requirements for things as simple as a smoke alarm, have made insuring almost unaffordable and little benefit for the extras. Everyone who owns a home at the very least should have some standard coverage.
