Dear KAG: 2021006 Open Thread

Live from Yellowstone:

I’ve read that the reintroduction of wolves helped restore balance in the park. Interesting.

Discussion topic:

What would you pay good, hard earned money to see on pay per view?

I’ll give you an example. The Couch Commando would pay to see Hillary perp walked.

Any other thoughts?

Alright, let’s see what have I got….

Worth repeating.
MSDNC pushes coordinated FAKE, FALSE, MISLEADING DISINFORMATION based on a biased [D] political viewpoint [controlled mouthpiece(s)].
Blue checkmarks then defend and attack [target] opposing viewpoints using slander, aggression, suppression, group-think, etc. [suppression tactics].
Non-blue checkmarks then defend and promote attacker(s) [blues] viewpoint(s) [leftwing ‘cult’] to instill echo_chamber wall-to-wall amplified narrative for each designated subject.
Select [public discovery] topics are deemed and ranked in priority order [ranking determines use of assets [big-to-small]].
[How to herd the sheep (you) 101]
If you do not follow [remain in-line] with their political viewpoints you are deliberately made to feel in the minority [isolated] and inferior [using aggression-slander].
[If majority thinks x then x must be true _projected false reality _minority projected as majority using news _ social media platforms to spotlight designated viewpoints [the ‘narrative’]].
A public (person) that thinks for themselves [independent free-thought] is what they FEAR the most [loss of control].
Q

Given the diverse places where the jabs and lockdowns are being protested, it’s a good bet that far more are already awake than they really want. Stuff like this is sad, but the sheer number of people dying and being injured is doing a lot to help the cause. It is horrifying that this is what it took.

Dolores Cahill takes the floor.

And about Luciferese, which was given Satan’s former name (he told an exorcist he used to go by that name, Lucifer, but since he fell, no) (yes, I put this up at some point last week, but it’s worth the refresher):

One more time:

Discovery in such a case would be mighty interesting.

And then there’s this:

If only it was that simple.

Word of advice from an opera singer who endured the Metropolitan Opera Auditions twice and Italian trained maestros…grow a thick skin. You’re going to need it in life. I was roundly criticized by more than one judge and more than one maestro for standing in ballet’s third position to sing. Seriously. You learn to let it roll.

Have a good day y’all.

(I don’t remember who brought this to a daily in the comments, but thanks.)

And, of course, the obligatory George Carlin:

Per the Boss:

It’s October. We’ll go with horror films until whatever we are waiting for happens. No clue what it’s going to look like, though.

And now for the obligatory message from our sponsors:

Here at the Q tree we believe in the concept of CIVIL open free speech and the discussion that fleshes out ideas. When commenting and participating in the OPEN discussion on this thread all comments MUST NOT CONTAIN personal threats, baiting, name calling, or other anti-social words fomenting hate, violence or destruction. Our host Wolfm00n has strict rules about that.

Fellow tree dweller Wheatie gave us some good reminders on the basics of civility in political discourse:

  1. No food fights.
  2. No running with scissors.
  3. If you bring snacks, bring enough for everyone

Please, stock up on blanks for celebratory gunfire, be ready to swing from the chandeliers…and no messing with the nuclear weapons.

Please remember to remain locked and loaded and ready for trouble should the insurrectionists try to invade your space.

Those who have things to say that do not fit the generally accepted limits of “civil” discussion, Wolf has provided a venue known as the UTree. You’re welcome to visit over there and say hi to anyone hanging out over there. The “Rescue Thread” is also over there. In the event a rendezvous of the tree is needed, please check it out.

Auntie DePat’s requests as we are all, ahem, adults, not uncivilized pygmies:

If you see something has not been posted, do us all a favor, and post it. Please, do not complain that it has not been done yet.

The scroll wheel on your mouse can be your friend. As mature adults, please use it here in the same manner you would in avoiding online porn.

Thank you so much for any and all attention to such details. It is GREATLY appreciated by more than one party here.

One other vital note:

Please, review these rules that our host Wolfm00n outlined toward the beginning of the growth of the tree itself. it won’t take long.

JONAH 4:1-11

1But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. 2And he prayed to the LORD and said, “I pray thee, LORD, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that thou art a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love 3Therefore now, O LORD, take my life from me, I beseech thee, for it is better for me to die than to live.” 4And the LORD said, “Do you do well to be angry?” 5Then Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city, and made a booth for himself there. He sat under it in the shade, till he should see what would become of the city. 6And the LORD God appointed a plant, and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to save him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the plant. 7But when dawn came up the next day, God appointed a worm which attacked the plant, so that it withered. 8When the sun rose, God appointed a sultry east wind, and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah so that he was faint; and he asked that he might die, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.” 9But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.” 10And the LORD said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night, and perished in a night. 11And should not I pity Nin’eveh, that great city, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”

Do not be afraid to take a chance on peace, to teach peace, to live peace. Peace will be the last word of history” – St. Pope John Paul II

As always, prayers for the fight against that which seeks to enslave us are welcome.

Please include: President Donald Trump, the Q team, our soldiers in the field, special forces, tactical units, first responders and those working behind the scenes…and any and all people with family members in the hospital, COVID or not.

Thanking everybody for your patience. Whether happenstance, coincidence, or enemy action, I’m dealing with some technical issues. In addition to those, and the obvious spiritual attacks, I am dealing with the obvious site stuff in what are best maintained as unobvious ways.

I suspect we struck a nerve.

A combined technical / spiritual / strategic response by all of us will prevent this attack from succeeding. Hold the line – bite the bullet – gird the loins – bite the lip – pray for guidance, discernment, and strength – whatever YOU believe keeps the ship aright for the moment. Everything else is lower priority.

In that spirit, the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel from Tuesday’s threads, and the Breastplate of St. Patrick, not to mention the Litany of Humility are favorites recommended by exorcists in spiritual warfare.

OK, some stuff for Robert’s Linux explorations.

There is a customary way for Linux’s directories to be set up. I’ve previously used some my knowledge of this to take you places, but didn’t give an overview or explanation at the time. I certainly hope that you took a moment to look around whenever I put you in some new directory.

Here’s an overview — https://www.linuxtrainingacademy.com/linux-directory-structure-and-file-system-hierarchy/

Note that these may be easy to grasp, but are often not completely accurate. Take, for instance, “The directory called “root.” It is the starting point for the file system hierarchy. Note that this is not related to the root, or superuser, account.” I would comment, “Oh? Who owns ‘/’ ? Who controls its access? That might seem a bit related, n’est ce pas?”

Here’s another overview — https://www.tecmint.com/linux-directory-structure-and-important-files-paths-explained/

Here’s some light reading — https://refspecs.linuxfoundation.org/FHS_2.3/fhs-2.3.html — probably a bit more reliable than the other two, and certainly more boring.

I should also note that directories like bin, tmp, dev, etc, lib, usr, and var go back to the very first implementations of UNIX, while effete and foppish add-ons like home, cdrom, media and proc were brought in later. Three letters tells you something….

There are two directories, in particular, that I want to discuss, because they are so weird. Let’s start with /dev . Go ahead and cd over there and do an ls …

This directory, short for “devices”, is essentially everything outside of the processor and memory of your computer (and sometimes parts of that). The fundamental conceit of all UNIX-type systems is that, to the CPU, EVERYTHING IS A FILE.

Mind you, not all files are created equal. A lot of files in /dev look like “crwxrwxrwx”. What does the “c” mean? Let’s punch “crwxrwxrwx” into a search engine and see what they recommend. “https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24890570/what-is-the-meaning-of-hyphen-in-rwxrwxrwx” looks good, and at a cursory glance, is likely to be accurate. It says that such files are character special files — I’d have to write a program to write one character at a time to it, or read one character at a time from it.

Overall, the files in /dev are dark blue, light blue, and yellow. Normal files are white — these are directories, links, and character specials, respectively. Back in the day, you could find out what tty your friend was on, and make a file of about 25 of the ASCII bell character, then just go “cat ding > tty14” and have their terminal ring 25 times…..

/dev/null is worth knowing about. It’s like a black hole — things go in but nothing comes out. Don’t try to copy, paste, delete, or move these files.

Next fun directory is /proc. This one is maybe the freakiest of all. None of the files are actually files in any real sense, but the system will very much behave as if they were. It’s full of all these numbered directories.

If you look at “ps-e” it tells you about all the processes currently running on your machine, with a process ID number. The directory in /proc with the same number is the kernel showing you information about that process in the form of files.

For example, I can “ps -e | grep thunderbird” and find out thunderbird is process 3680. I can then “cd /proc/3680” and find information about my running program. Be sure to use “ls -l” so you don’t bump your head into forbidden things too often, but take a look around. You won’t have thunderbird running, but perhaps you could look for bash. Or open LibreOffice and look at that.
