Just some notes. Iran is aware of Trumps comments about coming to DC for talks and have publicly refuted any intention of coming to DC.
Keeping it simple, yes two weeks Iran runs out of enough fire power to finish what they started without US getting more directly involved than we already are. In fact other than sensitive sites they have little left to protect themselves now and Israel is getting desperate. Even going to the point of announcing yesterday the current conflict will be long and protracted, an admission that they’ve bit off more than they can chew. If Trump decides to intervene Israel will owe him biggly and Trump knows this. Trump can let Israel sink or swim but if it’s swim they’ll be conditions toward resolving toward peace. Also doubts Trump will be in to extending the gopher hunt knowing no one knows exactly where Iran’s Nuke stuff is at or how much exists. Too much of a risk to miss and there are too many other matters with Russia and China for Trump to engage.
Likely the two weeks will result with Israel having to slowly ratchet down their attack letting it dwindle to nothing and hope Iran does not continue with retaliatory strikes which will likely happen as they need to start recovering from the hurt Israel has put on them.
Isreal started this and Trump is going to force them to finish it or capitulate and capitulate is while trying to save face is what’s most likely at this point.

They knew this before they passed the law. Everyone who knows anything about the Constitution knows this. They just want to chip away at the Second Amendment, which IMO makes them enemies of the people and the United States.
The fact is that the way the system is set up the courts can only do whack-a-mole.
They pass a laws. A court strukes it down.
Nothing prevents them from re-passing the same law (or one very similar) forcing us to go through the process all over again; someone has to violate the law so they have standing to sue when they are punished–then they have to appeal; years later we’re back to no law but they can pass yet another one.

In a way; lawfare usually means dragging people into court for violating an existing law–selectively, because they’re the “wrong” people.
This is different from passing laws that should never had been passed, forcing defenders of the constitution to play whack-a-mole forever. Not TOTALLY different; both are using the legal system to be assholes.
Part of the defensive process unfortunately has to involve some good person deliberately getting themselves arrested and charged and convicted of violating that law. (He can thereby show that he was “harmed” by the unconstitutional law and has therefore has standing to sue to have it overturned.) Personally I think you shouldn’t have to be arrested for violating an unconstitutional law; how about just saying: “because of this law I was forced to do (or not do) X Y and Z under duress, and shouldn’t have had to do (or not do) so.”
As long as you can then say the law prevented me from the following business ventures that would cross state lines and which would be legal in _________ state, then you’re good to go. Call a tort lawyer!

How did your experiment go?
Just barely made it in time. I had planned for about an hour to construct a hanging stick, but burned up the time on a “honeydew” project, so I had to throw together something at the last minute. I had things leveled and took my first measurement at exactly solar noon. Talk about flying by the seat of my pants. Second measurement, some seconds later, after re-leveling, same values in mm, called it done. I have not checked the results.
It occurred to me that a plumb bob hanging off the bottom of a tripod could have worked too.
The taller the worse, though as a thin string won’t cast a shadow very far.
Yes, there is definitely an optimal thickness of the “stick” – and anything less than ideal sunlight will quickly turn a string or wire into nothing as a shadow.
The height of the sun on the solstice, however, was very evident. Some nearby trees were casting shadows almost directly beneath themselves – sufficiently unusual that it was quite notable!
The sun angle is well over 70 degrees at latitudes similar to ours.
Even in ideal sunlight (which I had yesterday) a string won’t cast a shadow too far because the sun isn’t a point source (it’s about half a degree across) and therefore there’s an umbra and penumbra. At a certain distance the string won’t be wide enough to cover the sun, and at that distance it’s not casting a shadow.

That’s impressive! If that error was translated into “miles north” or “miles south” relative to your actual coordinates, what would that be? I’m guessing just a few miles.
0.06 degrees is between 3 and 4 minutes of arc.
Unless my picture of the geometry is wrong, that is also the arc length of the error in the latitude, so I’m good to within 3-4 nautical miles (1 nmi is one minute of arc on Earth’s surface–there’s a reason for the unit to exist, it’s not just some wacky thing drunk sailors came up with).
So I am going to call it +/- 4 statute miles error bar (that would make sense if I didn’t know the right answer).

Why Pres. Trump didn’t want to talk with the Gang of Eight or others. No leaks. He knows what he’s doing.
Trump NEVER abuses the military as a negotiating tool, letting it walk away weakened and disrespected, like Democrats tend to do. When Trump uses the military, he means business.
The military in the wings always provides leverage, but that leverage can easily be abused in a way that incurs a kind of credibility debt which weakens the leverage over the long term. Biden and Obama did it all the time. Trump doesn’t do it.
Trump’s time in military school gave him a sense of that difference, IMO. Every time he uses the military, it becomes more respected.

Trump has the Iranian regime in a “fork to a checkmate” – to use chess terms.
If the Iranians don’t surrender, Trump simply bombs the regime government into enough weakness that the opposition takes them out. He may even be counting on them refusing to negotiate, so that the problem is over soon.
Alternatively, they negotiate and allow complete denuclearization. I suspect they may try to pretend doing this, while really just stalling for time.
There is a third alternative, sadly. That would be “kick over the chessboard” using some nuke they have already assembled, and smuggled out of danger. IMO the danger of that path growing every day is part of why Trump acted. IMO the Iranians were at the point of desperation to “do something against the Jews” – whatever they could do.
THAT would be a huge mistake, but it would put Iran in a box for 1000 years, and that’s not a bad outcome, either. But millions will die if that happens.

Re: Iran.
I have no inside intelligence or operational info, but my read here is that our involvement began and ended with today’s bombing.
It is in the best interests of the entire human race for the crazed theocracy in Iran to not possess nuclear weapons, and I believe that was our sole mission objective.
Iran is too big, too mountainous and too heavily populated to even contemplate any sort of ground war involving the US Army or USMC.
Moreover, the USA is suffering a sort of “nation building” PTSD after 20+ years of useless, endless ground wars. People always point out that Donald Trump is a populist, and no populist would ever take on such an unpopular and unnecessary mission.
Presumably today’s B-2 raid eliminated Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons, and now the mission is likely complete.
We could, of course, face some sort of counterattack, but Iran lacks the strategic power projection capability to do that in any fashion beyond random terror, so any protracted ground war seems highly unlikely.
Thank you President Trump for protecting the human race with the least amount of force needed, and thank you United States Air Force for your precision and professional excellence.
