The Promised Land
God promised a heritage to His people, Israel (Genesis 12:7; 15:18–20). The Promised Land was an endowment from Earth’s Creator to the children of Israel. Israel acquired the Promised Land only through God’s guidance and His miraculous intervention in history (Exodus 33:14–16; Psalm 44:1–8; 136:10–22).
The promise of a land for God’s people began in Genesis 12 when God appeared to Abram (Abraham) and told him that he had been chosen to be the father of many nations. God promised to bless Abram and lead him into a land that would belong to his offspring as a lasting heritage. God later confirmed this promise to Abraham’s son Isaac (Genesis 26:3) and then to Isaac’s son Jacob (Genesis 28:13).
The boundaries of the Promised Land were from the River of Egypt (the Nile) to the Euphrates (Exodus 23:31). Also, in Joshua 1:4 God promised Joshua that the land of Israel would include territory extending “from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.” This territory would include the land from the southern tip of Israel along the Red Sea to the Euphrates River on the east, the border of Syria on the north (land of the Hittites), and the Mediterranean Sea (Great Sea) to the west: Modern-day Israel, including Gaza and the West Bank, and Jordan, as well as parts of Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
By the time Israel was ready to take the land, hundreds of years after Abraham, it was inhabited by pagan nations: Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites (Exodus 33:2). When it was time for the Israelites to inherit the Promised Land, God raised up Moses to bring His people out of slavery in Egypt and used Joshua to lead a military conquest of Canaan.
The Bible teaches that God will eventually fulfill the promise to give Israel full control over the Promised Land. Israel’s full territory will ultimately be ruled by the Messiah during the Millennium (Revelation 20:1–6). God’s promises, partly fulfilled throughout history, will have complete, literal, fulfillment prior to God’s creation of new heavens and a new earth (Revelation 21—22; cf. Psalm 72:8).
For all time?
In Deuteronomy 4:40 the Lord gave the Israelites this command: “Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.”
This passage contains a conditional offer. Israel would have the Promised Land as they kept God’s “decrees and commands.” The Israelites had to obey God’s statutes in order to remain in the land. History reveals that the Israelites often disobeyed, resulting in temporary times of exile from their land. However, the end of this passage notes that God is giving Israel the Promised Land “for all time.”
There are both a conditional and unconditional aspect to God’s promise. God offered blessings within the Promised Land conditionally, related to the Israelites’ obedience. Yet God also made an unconditional vow that Israel would have the Promised Land “for all time.” The promise of Deuteronomy 4:40 is a far-seeing promise, extending to the end of this world’s existence and even into the time of the new earth.
Many other passages of Scripture support the fact that Israel will possess the Promised Land forever. For example, God spoke to Isaac in Genesis 26:3, saying, “Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.” The Lord also spoke to Jacob in Genesis 28:13–14 with similar words: “There above it stood the Lord, and he said: ‘I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.’” See also Psalm 132:14; Isaiah 14;1; and Zechariah 2:3–5, 10–13.

Do I trust these clinical trials of NDT? Not if they were set up by the industry! NOPE. Don’t trust them. DW Thyroids lopped out ~2002. Prolly fifteen year it took quacks to get her thyroid med “right for her”.
A couple years it was Armour Thyroid, which she did well on.
Levothyroxine at varying dosages was toyed with all other years.
Finally, a cardiologist figured the correct meds for her.

I have not been happy with my thyroid meds because the drug store kept switching the pills Levothyroxine. Same dosage but different looking pills. I wondered if it caused my heart problems but no one wiil listen. What do I know 😡
I finally convinced my husband to use Kroger again for my meds because I get the original Levothyroxine meds. I will talk to my doc when I see him in Oct.
I don’t know if this will make a difference, but try to find the Levothyroxine with NO DYES. It’s just a plain white pill. Some people experience “off” symptoms when they take the medication that has been colored either red, or blue. Just ask for the NON COLORED pill.

They use dose-dependent coloring for almost all brands of thyroid pills, so there is some possibility that many people are associating wrongly prescribed dosages with pill colors. The correct window on T4 therapy is really, really narrow, IMO – and the optimum is likely far less optimal than a more complete thyroid replacement like NDT (but those are hard to make consistent in manufacture).
Bottom line – I suspect that most patients are taking too much or too little T4.

The fact is that EVERY brand of generic levothyroxine is actually a front for some Indian manufacturer, and every one of those has all sorts of FDA problems. It takes research to figure out who is who.
It costs a bit under a dollar a pill for name-brand Synthroid® – but multiple doctors, nurses and patients have told me that it’s very consistent, free of impurities, and solves patient problems. A generic brand that seems to be good for thyroid is Amneal. But Accord just got slapped by FDA, and I don’t trust them. There’s another Indian-backed generic brand that I can’t recall ATM, also one to watch out for. I’ll post if I can remember.

This really caused a lot of angst in the thyroid forums. I’ve used natural dessicated thyroid for many years because the synthetic just doesn’t work for me, as it doesn’t for a lot of people. And it makes sense that it doesn’t. Synthroid and other synthetics only have T4, which isn’t the active hormone. It has to be converted into T3 by the body to do its job. But many people are hypothyroid because their bodies no longer do a good job of converting T4 to T3. Armour and all the other natural thyroid brands have all the hormones needed, including T3.
Also, Armour Thyroid and others have been around for over 100 years. If there were anything seriously wrong with them, it would have been found out long, long ago.
This is a GREAT example where FAKE SCIENCE has gaslit the whole world and made everything we are told about thyroid pharma science literally backwards.
NDT should actually be the GOAL of thyroid replacement.
There is real opportunity here, if only pharma science would ADMIT that it’s been gaslighting the world about the sufficiency of T4 as a universal substitute for NDT. A highly pure, partially recombinant, human, artificial NDT would be a godsend for millions of thyroid patients. It would be expensive at first, but it would eventually be the humulin of thyroid.

However, revival is springing up in and spreading among the young people.

Your second and third questions bother me. As I understand repentance, it is an act of an individual’s will. Not something God gives. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding. As far as the last question, hasn’t that already happened? Again, maybe I’m misunderstanding but the only thing [as I understand it] that needs to be done after the Resurrection is to spread the Good News of the Gospel throughout the world.
The Bible says repentance and even conviction of sin are gifts from GOD.

Repentance, as I understand it, is turning away from sin. Perhaps God is granting the desire to repent & the then the will to follow through.
Once we realize our sin then we know it and need to repent. If we become aware of our sin then we come to God and repent then he gives us grace and unconditional love. If we continue our sin knowing it is wrong then we are responsible for it and deal with the consequences . I could be wrong because with self awareness brings responsibility.

my update on my visit with mom:
The visit with mom was good, BUT my brother is thinking of moving her yet again! Mom shares a room with another woman. Mom sleeps in her recliner (not a bed) so they allowed her to bring her recliner. The problem is, this really doesn’t look like a double room to me. there are 2 closets, but Mom has her chair, a dresser and a tiny nightstand on her side which also has the bathroom door and the window, but below the window is the heating/cooling unit so she’s pretty cramped. She doesn’t even have a tray or anything close by to write on. There are no tvs in the rooms or phones. If she wants, she can bring a tv from home but she wants to wait to see if she stays there. She was promised a single room, but there were none available when they moved her, so now he’s looking at ANOTHER place. sigh
And mom is annoyed that my SIL threw out a lot of her clothes. she didn’t offer them to anyone or donate them and Mom had nice coats and clothing she’s too small for now. I was asking about other things too–things Mom forgot she had and now wonders where it all is…
her house is already sold.
on the plus side, she was walking really well with the walker and we walked all around the facility and she kept a good pace. She forgets some things–but i really doubt she is on a level with any of the other patients there.

trust me, I’ve been wondering that my whole life. I wanted a bike–they brought home a baby brother…
it’s a little unnerving though…the rooms can lock from the inside and they can be unlocked (if you know the trick) from the outside. There’s this older gentleman–tall and thin, who goes into Mom’s and her roommate’s room at night. They locked their door but he knows how to open it.
He did it yesterday during our visit and Mom said this isn’t your room and he insisted it was and wouldn’t leave. Mom’s roommate, Mary, threw her shoe at him and SCREAMED for him to get out. Then an orderly got him out of the room.
Later when we were in the tv room chatting, he walked by and I am a smiler–I smile at everyone all the time–and I smiled. He immediately came over to me where i was sitting and said there you are–I was looking for you. An aide quickly came over and said Ken how about we go for a walk and his expression changed and they left.
not sure Mom or any of the other ladies there should be dealing with someone like that.
I thought there were different levels of need/care and that facilities needed to screen patients for which level they were.
Praise the Lord that I have a devoted wife and totally estranged siblings.
I have only observed him that one day. and there were plenty of folks walking around the hallways and outside. (they cannot get past the 10 foot fencing that surrounds the facility–but they can sit out at lovely umbrella covered tables and get some sunshine.)
More than one aide looked at me and said I know you, don’t I? which was weird, so maybe i looked like someone who visited that man?
I don’t know that he is a threat per se. The facility is strictly memory care–that’s all they do.
There are in most of the better operated ALC’s. Most have memory care units behind locked entrance and exit doors for folks like the wandering dude. If the staff believes they can handle the person with marginal memory loss they can elect to leave them in the general populace, but they then become responsible for any bad deeds.
The double resident room situation is personal cost and insufficient rooms being available related.
That lock situation will get the ALC sued big time if something unfortunate happens. If a resident cannot unlock their own room door, the resident is supposed to be in a different boarding situation with staff security to prevent intruders. Keyed exterior door locks to rooms are supposed to be present on all others except memory care and as described above. If a resident can jimmy a lock something is wrong with the door/lock and/or the resident doing it.
MIL was in an ALC for ten years. Daughter was a CNA in one for three years while a college student. FWIW, they caught memory care residents doing the deed on many occasions behind the locked doors of that part of the facility. They had no idea what they were doing or who they were or the person they were doing it with. 😀 One time the female resident asked the male, “Now, who are you again?” afterwards.
there are coded locks on every door into (and out of the facility). There’s a door to the entryway (coded entry–visitors have to be buzzed in) and your names have to be entered into their log book. Then there is another coded entry door into the facility itself. Once we were ready to leave, we asked for directions out–and the aide said turn right, then left down the hall–the exit door is there. We walked around the entire facility twice before another aide showed us the door–it was painted to cleverly blend into the design on the wall and was coded as well. so i think they have that part pretty well covered.
wandering patients are not untypical there, but this guy thinks every room is his room and that seems to be the problem.
Or he thinks that every room has a female who is just head over heels excited to be with him. 😮

This “tall, thin guy” sounds like trouble — most likely not because he wants to cause trouble, but because of something wrong with him.
On the other hand, if he knows “the trick” about how to unlock doors from the outside — that’s a red flag, IMO.
Sounds to me like this facility “divided” an original single room into two tiny rooms — not a good idea.

When my dad’s father had to be placed in a nursing home, it was before security at those places was as great as it is today. He had alzheimer’s and escaped numerous times. the last time they brought him back, he broke an orderly’s arm. He was a tall, strong carpenter his whole life and he thought they were trying to unjustly arrest him. My grandmother was 4 ft 8 inches tall and he scared her too many times, so there was nothing she could do with him at home. when my parents took her there to visit, he thought my mom was his wife and when GiGi said she was his wife–he said…you’re too old to be my wife. broke her heart.
Memory care. WOW. I will warn you that this stuff is similar everywhere. Moving can only change the mix of dysfunctions a resident is exposed to. Hope that she can get a private room, although a good roommate can come in handy as long as things stay sane and friendly that way, too.

They got the infection cleared and the swelling down and she was doing physical therapy to ensure she could walk (with her walker) and she was beating all the times they gave her. for example, they wanted her to do 20 minutes on a stationary bike–she did 30. they wanted her to walk the length of the room 3 times, she did 7 before she thought she needed a rest. they released her from THERAPY and she thought she was going home. then someone gave her a cognitive test which they said she failed. and that’s when memory care became her only option.
we discussed moving her with family–we live 4 hours from all other family members–it would be “burdensome” for her to live here –for the rest of them.
my brother and sil live 5 minutes from her home, but sil who is 72, didn’t want to quit work to care for her.
so that’s how we ended up with “no other options”.

her roommate is fine, but like any roommate has her flaws. she is not clean in her bathroom habits in their shared bathroom and Mom was meticulous about her home, especially her bathroom. the toilet remains unflushed and there is hair and toothpaste everywhere.

She did not seem to belong there at all yesterday. God love her, she is 86. I asked if there were any cards she needed (thank you, birthday, etc) and she rattled off the birthdays in the next 2 months, and thank you cards and get well cards.
but while she was in the hospital, she flunked her cognitive test, so they declared she needed to be in a facility and my brother ran with it. I didn’t know at the time she could request to do another.
I hate troubleshooting the past [coulda shoulda] but in this case I’d suggest a lawyer’s secret – always exercise the right to have another test. To compare. If it’s good enough for suspected drunk drivers, it’s good enough for innocents. Based on your comment, I’d bet that the test that she ‘flunked’ was done improperly or otherwise tainted. 😠
the one things they stressed (and the only thing they told us about) was she was asked what would she do in an emergency. she said call the cops. they said and that number is…? she touched her upper chest where her emergency alert button/necklace usually lays and said…i’d press this. since she couldn’t or didn’t say 9-1-1 she flunked.
i asked my sil if they explained that to the doctor–that she HAS that system in place for any emergency–medical, police, fire, and they respond immediately. she said it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.
I disagreed…but i am here and they were there and made the decision.
(my sil is an aide at a different facility and an unlicensed know it all in “medical” stuff. She’s been telling mom she had dementia –according to her diagnosis for the past year.)
This is breaking my heart. So sad. 😥

Thank you for your report I wondered how your mom is doing. Health wise she seems fine but yes they remember their stuff bit by bit when one does not expect it. My mother in law did and she wondered. Thank god I took lots of her stuff was able to go in the attic and reclaim the stuff for her now I am stuck with it but was well worth it for her peace of mind 🙂 Of course in a facility one cannot do it but would be nice to bring her here and there one of her items she liked. My prayers are with your mother and I hope she finds a place she is happy with. The room sounds to me like a 1 1/2 room not a 2 person room. That is not fair to your mom.
I made her a large wall collage of photos of her and Dad and family members when Dad passed away. She had it hanging next to her chair at home and my brother at least brought that. She can’t hang it on the wall, but she has it propped up on the dresser so she can see it.

1 “If we would get knowledge and grace, we must try all methods of improving ourselves. #2|. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Newsom doesnt seem to care about any company leaving CA. Now a farm, a FARM , that is the only sugar beet processing facility allowed in CA is closing.
The last sugar beet factory in California is closing after almost 80 years in business.
The Spreckels Sugar Company factory in Brawley in the Imperial Valley has already begun the closure process that will soon lead to the loss of 700 local jobs.
The Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, which owns and runs the factory, said it could no longer keep up with declining sugar prices as well as post-pandemic inflationary pressures.
The factory was the last of its kind in the state that turned the root sugar beet into sugar, and marks the latest of a series of companies to leave California.
The cooperative will now ‘focus its resources’ on a more profitable plant in Renville, Minnesota, the company said in a statement.
While production phases out the factory will remain open. It will close for good towards the end of this year or early 2026.
It is unlikely any other sugar beet factory will spring up to replace it, as strict federal regulations block the Imperial Valley from processing beets at any other facility, according to the LA Times.
‘This was a difficult decision brought about by factors largely out of our control,’ Paul Fry, chief executive of the cooperative, told the publication.
Despite our extensive investments in the facility, the economic challenges facing the sugar industry have been building for several years as the costs of operating the Spreckels facility have continued to escalate,’ Fry explained.
The closure of the factory is a devastating blow to the Southern California region where unemployment rates are high and agriculture is the second-largest creator of jobs.
The closure will wipe out a $243 million industry in the state, Imperial County officials told local news KPBS.
Since 2000, 28 sugar beet and sugar cane factories have closed in the US, leaving just 43 left, the LA Times reported.
Sugar beet grows well in the Imperial Valley thanks to the nutrient-rich soil, year-round sunshine and water from the Colorado River.
‘It’s not the first time a crop has left the Imperial Valley,’ local sugar beet farmer Ben Abatti III told KPBS.
‘The million dollar-question is, what do we grow now?’

Context: Devin Nunes is the chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, an alternative mechanism to review and analyze global and domestic intelligence information – with overlay against truth and reality that underpins the issue(s).
Action: Accepting the intent of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, now insert the recent DNI Tulsi Gabbard’s directive to stop information sharing with allied countries as it specifically relates to President Trump’s efforts to create a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
Back to the interview: Here’s the statement that really deserves to be emphasized @05:25: “Imagine where we sit today, with all the things going on around the world, and the President has to have the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA, his own intelligence board, all making sure the intelligence is not weaponized. I mean it’s rather incredible, this is something that is unprecedented in the United States of America.”

Steve Hoffman (mastering engineer and owner / operator of the Steve Hoffman Forum) remastered this song from the original tape on SACD, back in 2014, for a Rhino / Time-Life reissue of a various artists album called Legends: Get it On! 👍 😁
Which I bought immediately, because they didn’t stay in print for long (so prices went up fast on the secondary market), and mostly because Hoffman had a reputation for going back to the original master tapes and doing it right, even to the point of using a vintage restored playback tape deck and calibrating it correctly for the time when the original was recorded, and using tube equipment to preserve the original sonic signature if it was recorded that way.
Nobody else was doing that back then, and not many since.
I saved this quote from Hoffman under the album in my Word doc that has my CD collection list:

Writing a great song is tricky enough, but writing a standout duet is an even more difficult bit of business than that. After all, you have to make room for two contrasting perspectives without pulling the song apart at the seams in the process. And, since the majority of duets are inter-gender, you have to be able to write believably for the opposite sex.
Most people would agree that Tom Petty pulled off one of the great duets in rock history when he penned “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and joined Stevie Nicks on the justly celebrated recording. The only problem with that story is that the song wasn’t meant to be a duet at all.
As Petty recalled to author Paul Zollo in the book Conversations With Tom Petty, the Fleetwood Mac chanteuse was enamored with his music and wanted him to write a song for her. “Stevie came to me around ’78,” he said. “And she was this absolutely stoned-gone, huge fan. And it was her mission in life that I should write her a song.
And we were a little wary of Stevie. We didn’t quite know whether to like Stevie or not, because we kind of saw this big corporate rock band, Fleetwood Mac, which was wrong, they were actually artistic people. But in those days, nobody trusted that sort of thing and we just kept thinking, ‘What does she want from us?’”
Nicks was persistent and Petty eventually attempted a song for Nicks to be included on her first solo album. He wrote a ballad called “Insider,” but when the two sang it together, Petty liked it so much he decided to keep it for himself. He included it on The Heartbreakers’ 1981 album Hard Promises, even using a line from the song to give the album its name.
At the time that this was occurring, Jimmy Iovine, who was Petty’s producer and also was lined up to produce Nicks’ album Bella Donna, asked Tom about another song from the Hard Promises sessions with lyrics by Petty and music by Heartbreaker guitarist Mike Campbell. The Heartbreakers (with Donald “Duck” Dunn filling in for the band’s usual bassist Ron Blair) had finished “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” right down to Petty’s lead vocal, but Iovine persuaded him to give this track to Nicks after he had taken “Insider” back.
As a result, what you hear in the recording that became a #3 Billboard hit in 1981 is Nicks singing on top of the Heartbreakers recording. In the verses, Petty’s vocals, with the exception of a couple lines, were wiped away to make room for Nicks. To keep up the appearance of a duet, Nicks sang with Petty’s vocal in the refrain, actually taking the high harmony part since Petty already had the main vocal line covered.
The funny thing is that the song works better as a duet. It’s got a typically sturdy Heartbreakers foundation, featuring Campbell’s moaning guitar and Benmont Tench’s creeping keyboard. Nicks is right at home in this bluesy backdrop, imbuing Petty’s conversational lyrics with oodles of fiery attitude and a tinge of genuine hurt. “This doesn’t have to be the big get even,” she warns the guy who comes “knocking on my front door” with the “same old line.” “It doesn’t have to be anything at all.”
Having Nicks take the lead puts an interesting spin on the cautionary lines from the final verses (“Make a meal of some bright-eyed kid/ You need someone looking after you.”) Normally this would be the thing that the older guy would say to the young girl, maybe even in condescending fashion. Since it’s the woman making that statement, it levels the playing field. The guy is reduced to telling her that he’s onto the fact that, though she might be protesting at the moment, she’s the one who’s making the decision to leave: “I know you really want to tell me goodbye/ I know you really want to be your own girl.”
Petty’s lyrics are stinging and evocative in the run up to the refrain: “Baby you could never look me in the eye/ Yeah you buckle with the weight of the words.” The play on the phrase “weight of the world” is telling, because that’s the kind of pressure this fading relationship seems to be exerting on the principals. It all leads up to the title’s desperate plea for mercy, Petty and Nicks both going to the top of their registers to highlight the urgency, “Stop draggin’ my/ Stop draggin’ my/ Stop draggin’ my heart around.”
There are so many tantalizing hypothetical scenarios here. Would Petty’s solo vocal take have become quite as big a hit? Would Nicks have taken the intensely personal “Insider” and made it universal as well? As always, fate has the final answer. And the answer is that, to reach its full potential, “Stop Draggin My Heart Around” simply needed two to tango.”
