I loved my Rolodex. I wish we had kept it up! It is much easier than trying to find an old number on a computer or phone you used a few years ago.
I’ve always had something of a trick memory for numbers (which ends up very useful as an accountant). I don’t do anything special for it to happen, it just does.
So one time, I’m doing something near the front office, and the receptionist goes, “hey, Cooth — what’s the phone number for XXXXX [one of our suppliers]?”
And I replied with the number. Then, a couple of seconds later, my actual thinking caught up and I said, “why did you ask me? It’s in the rolodex right next to you sitting on a couple of phone books.”
And she replied, “well, I knew you’d know it.”
Some brains handle numbers with silk gloves and soothing music, almost magical. I’ve always recalled numbers with ease – like my phone number from 64 years ago. However, what my wife said 5 minutes ago – not so much.
My first Crocker Bank (no longer in existence) Visa card number was 4040 165 001 506 (note the number of digits). I remember my student ID # from the University of Casual Sun Bathing (that I left in 1983). I know my driver’s license number. I remember the Federal ID number of the company I worked at for seven years in the 90’s, as well as their FedEx number.
By contrast, I have a great deal of trouble with people names, frequently falling back on ornate versions of “hey, you” within minutes of being introduced. OTOH, I delighted in being able to remember people by their online nics at a Moron Meetup in Vegas — I scrolled through about 20 with ease. Of course, they had each also revealed their IRL name when first coming face-to-face, which I promptly forgot.
I have a neighbor that I knew as “Kati’s mom” for a dozen years before I could remember that her name is Marilynn (Kati was her dog). I still can’t recall her last name. A couple of doors away, the family’s dog was named Kirby…..which I couldn’t remember until I convinced myself that it shared a name with a vacuum instead of a person. I still don’t know the names of anyone else in Kirby’s family, though we are on friendly terms. Kirby was a Havanese, which reminds me of DePat’s doggos.
I’ve had people work for me when I couldn’t remember their names. I could remember the kind of car they drove, the name of their pets, extensive anecdotes about them, and sometimes their employer ID or Social Security number, but I’d go for years without being able to introduce them properly — “….and this is my top lieutenant, who worked with me on the XXXXX job and the YYYYY job, where she put in 125 hours of overtime in July of 2023. She’s got two great kids and a white mixed-breed dog named Fifi. Whoops, I’ve got to tie my shoe. Say ‘hi’.”
It’s not like I don’t know them — I can recognize them by gait across an airport concourse. I know their abilities and history. I know their performance over the last couple of months and what I intend to train them to do. I know what parts of their commute sucks and when their kids’ schedule allows them to work overtime.
I just can’t remember their names, particularly when trying to introduce them.
On one side, it’s a huge pain…..on the other, it’s amazing how much I’ve managed to bluff my way through it.
We share a lot of that. One of my favorite sayings is, ‘I’ll never forget good old what’s-his-name.’
I have this exact disability! Lol, everybody close to me knows that if someone comes up acting like they know me, they have to introduce themselves to whoever it is, because I don’t know their name!
However, if I met you at a conference one time 20 years ago, I remember your face.
My memory is getting increasingly crappy & I’ve been pretty bad with names, & now even faces, for a long time.
Hubby & I try to recall names of actors & actresses & where we’ve seen them before. I also make a note of those who have autistic kids, like Sylvester Stallone. Another autistic parent is Joe Montaigna (sp) & I could never remember his name though. For some reason I would think of Inigo Montoya & That would bring Joe’s name to mind 🙃

I think it’s the similarity of the last names. Inigo is much more strongly imprinted on my memory, having seen the Princess Bride many times before my mind went Swiss cheesy 😉

The best example of that would be Srinivasa Ramanujan, an Indian mathematician of some renown. He traveled to Cambridge to interact with the mathematicians of his age, with a personal relationship with G.H. Hardy. It was said that “Every positive integer was one of [Ramanujan’s] personal friends.”
Life in Cambridge didn’t agree with Ramanujan’s health — which, to be fair, might not have flourished anywhere while amoeba were eating his liver. He died at the young age of 32.

Make sure you use the measure of “cholesterol ratio” when considering your levels.

These are much better indicators than a simple cholesterol total.
LDL/HDL ratio is simply the LDL level divided by the HDL level. LDL/HDL ratio is one of the most popular measures of heart disease risk.
Total cholesterol HDL (TC HDL) ratio is found by dividing the total cholesterol level by the HDL level. The cholesterol HDL ratio is considered the worst of these three indicators — the American Heart Association does not recommend using it for diagnosis. Still, you can look at this number to get a general idea of your health condition.

I am very glad you got me to watch that. I think Nick could have been a very important person for our movement if the Con Inc crowd had not targeted him for destruction. Yes, Fuentes could have been a very important person in America First conservatism, BUT he could have proven very dangerous, too.
I feel like people were looking for bona fides that he wasn’t a potential danger, and they were absolutely not finding them.
One of my psychological theories of Hitler is that he was more of an attractor than an originator of schemes, BUT he was also a “cunningly bad” manager of those around him, with great intention, who was content to allow evil to flourish under the responsibility of others, if it was moving in a direction that he wanted. Hitler knew how to SPREAD evil.
I knew a guy who was EXACTLY like that, and – IMO – that guy was utterly demonic and possessed. There was an evil subintelligence – an evil and spontaneous subconscience – that was driving him to self-destruction, and the destruction of others around him.
Eventually, I think Hitler became boxed in by both his own mistakes, his pathological moral weakness, and his allowances for his top people to do evil in his name – to the point where even if some part of him had wanted to stop the evil he had ginned up, it would have been impossible.
I do NOT see in Fuentes certain aspects of moral maturity that are needed to be a leader who makes the world a better place. Instead, I see risks. He attracts people who could easily create the horrors of the Nazis. Which is not to say that a lot of America’s leftist Jews in power would not create the horrors of Stalin, because many of them would – and have no qualms about it. The lying Schiffty Schiff is quite evil, and the thought of him as President is horrifying – but Fuentes could easily lead to such disaster, too.
Does Fuentes’ admiration of Stalin include Stalin letting Beria become a serial rapist of teenage girls – to “get the job done”? That is Bill and Hillary stuff.

There is a LOT of good stuff in there – and IMO Tucker did a great job of not only letting Fuentes expose his real thinking, but pushing back in a gentle, honest, friendly, and frankly loving manner.
Fuentes is a smart guy, BUT he has some historical blind spots and some reflexive tendencies that – to be completely honest – were sadly but very correctly flagged by the Jewish media gatekeeping complex. I attribute it to dropping out of college too soon. People’s sense of history really develops during that key 18-21 period, and Fuentes, IMO, is weak on history, and particularly on the history of socialist movements across the spectrum of politics.
His persistent and reflexive attitude that giving real and basic assurances is “bending the knee” is what gets him in trouble, IMO. I now don’t think he was “simply trolling” on Stalin, as much as trolling by non-qualification on top of a real fascination with authoritarian leaders having the “guts” to do what they thought was needed. There’s a name for that kind of trolling when using Hitler instead of Stalin, and that name is Jew-baiting. Doing it with Stalin is different, but IMO rather instructive on Fuentes’ naivete regarding the real dangers of extremism.
The fact that Fuentes was so obviously and strongly gate-kept by Jews in conservative media is very third-rail, but frankly I think it should be talked about, because I think it was both needed and correct here, and actually really generous. As always, education is the first step, and Fuentes is just remarkably resistant to it. Tucker may have been right in some of his early push-back that the media complex made a mistake, because I can see ways of dealing with Fuentes that would have publicly educated a lot of people – and maybe even him – away from Holocaust denial. I myself have a desire to “take him to lunch” and talk about what my own mother saw – but I fear and am even rather certain that he would not listen to me.
I don’t think he’s a fed – but I think he’s a useful magnet for observation by everybody, and I think he actually enjoys it – which is part of why he baits everybody by holding out as a lightweight denier.
Bottom line, he’s not a shit sandwich, but the mayo has gone dangerously bad, and those who swallow him, are gonna be sick. Leave it in the window at the shop. He is not a necessary participant for America First, IMO. Stephen Miller, quite ironically, is.

You know, there is certain sense of fulfillment when one pursues the truth and communicates it while getting harassed, ridiculed, attacked, ignored, whatever. You sound the alarms or even tactfully give warning that something important is amiss while providing evidence of same and the world goes gliding by paying no heed. You know what you know down deep in your gut and you care enough for others that they at least have the opportunity to truly listen and consider. The fulfillment comes not from the “told ya so” moment. It comes before that from the knowing you did the right thing regardless of the negativity or lack of response.
This has to be yet another one of those moments for PAVACA along with others of us who have spoken out on major issues and concerns of our day. It does not lessen the pain of losing loved ones and relationships needlessly, ever. Only the Lord can make that right and whole again.
My admiration for the pursuers of truth has grown exponentially over these past half dozen years we have met together here. We are truly in remarkable times of evil and good at war. Much appreciation to Wolf for offering us a home where we can flesh things out and be our own versions of Paul Revere.

There is no “sense of fulfillment” that one feels in doing the research and writing for the Health Friday posts related to COVID-19. I have now lost two COVID-19 “vaccinated” members of my family, and several COVID-19 “vaccinated” good friends and former colleagues. I am watching living COVID-19 “vaccinated” members of my family presenting with adverse effects from the injections of this Bioweapon that they took (and are still taking.) I miss being able to visit my own sister, who forbade anyone who isn’t “vaccinated” from visiting her or her family.
I miss just going into a public space (for example, a grocery store), purchasing items, and go about living life. Now, it’s a completely different routine: a routine that involves wearing disposable gloves, that involves changing clothes when back at the house, that involves taking extra Vitamin D and Quercetin.
I miss just living life. Now, it’s a different routine: a routine that involves taking daily vitamins and supplements, and weekly IVM, to avoid getting a COVID infection (and this includes an infection from having been “shed on” by “vaccinated” people.)
Is this “new routine” based in fear? In part, possibly so. On the other hand, I know enough about how the COVID-19 virus itself works, and about how the COVID-19 “vaccines” work, to have had to craft this routine.

I didn’t have an inkling of a relationship between Bannon and Epstein. There appears to be a conservative media blackout, which strikes me as hypocritical. If we’re going to look at every Democrat name in the Epstein files and condemn those who had any dealings with Epstein after his 2008 sentencing (Katie Couric, for one), then we certainly should look at a years-long relationship between Bannon and Epstein leading up to Epstein’s death. Substitute the name of any Democrat for “Bannon” in the material presented by Stone, and conservative media would be having a field day.
I don’t like in-party fighting, but IMO Roger Stone makes some good points. He presents information that I didn’t know. And it’s not hearsay; there are emails.
This can’t be swept under the rug, and Bannon has some explaining to do. As Stone says, it’s not that there’s any evidence of Bannon being a pedophile; there isn’t. But Stone ends his piece with this:
I can’t get past the fact that our side would be heartily condemning and casting suspicion on anyone on the Left who maintained a relationship with Epstein after his first sentencing where he pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution, including soliciting prostitution from someone under the age of 18.
All of the dirty laundry, if it exists, should be aired out publicly.
Let the chips fall where they may. If something, someone needs to be flushed, make it so.

Either contact with, friendship with, and any sort of relationship with a confessed and convicted pedophile is out of bounds for everyone, or we lose credibility when it comes to principled stances.

Bannon may have been spying on Epstein, by letting Epstein spy on Trump through Bannon. It’s a rough game, but what Paul says still applies.
The emails, especially the “Ms. Miller” references, absolutely REEK of the demonic side of Jeffrey Epstein. I will bet that they are evil jokes. It’s what criminals do. Every minute that Bannon was there, the demon in Epstein was toying with him – testing him – tempting him – even in jokes.
It’s that abyss, again. Epstein was a very scary guy. I remember watching that scientist interviewed, who talked about meeting Epstein. He said he was terrifying. He was very believable.

If it is true that “Bannon’s intention was to be doing undercover work and that he pretended to be pals with Epstein,” then having written communications was not a smart plan unless it was documented that he was going to do that. Now it looks highly suspicious. If Bannon has a witness who knew what his intentions were, that might help.
Personalities so often cloud situations. Both men are patriots. Bannon, IMO, goes too far sometimes and that is one reason he is no longer in the Trump administration. He does great work with his podcast, etc. Stone uncovers truths but always seems a little “out there.” Having a boxing match with Bannon would accomplish nothing.

You’re saying the reporting comes from the BBC? I don’t think they manufactured the emails. If they did, and if they made up the quotes attributed to Bannon, then he could easily deny it all and file a lawsuit.
In any case, wherever it’s coming from, Bannon needs to address it sooner rather than later, IMO. If there is nothing there, it will be easy for him to deny everything. But it looks to me as if there is way too much, as shown in the link to Roger Stone’s article, for him to easily sweep it aside.
