Truth and common sense must be valued by us, as individuals, in order to lastingly disempower the authoritarian fake news media. This includes the perniciously smarmy science media, which never answers for its errors and lies. I believe that the media has been responsible not only for leftist pathologies like scientism, medical fascism, and radical gender ideology, but also for reactionary movements like modern flat Earth, rejection of all medicine, and Biblical geological literalism.


Just as Wheatie’s Stormwatch Monday Open Thread was created as a place for people to openly express their thoughts and opinions, so, too, is this Thank God Thursday Open Thread, where honest but civil discussion of all topics is encouraged. This thread is also to be known as Theistic Evolution Thursdays, due to the author’s expected “pontification” about his scientific, religious, and political opinions. You are welcome to pontificate back! Free speech matters!

It is important that we as individuals not begin to pretend that socially derived artificial intelligence is actually our own, as this form of stealthy social information averaging and feedback would be one more pretense and deception between people, in service of stupid Marxist socialism, and of those who wish to substitute their communally protected lies for actual truth.

Watch for the typographical errors by the writing AI, which get sucked up into face-palm narration by the vocalization AI. It’s just stupid and cringe. Nevertheless, the science is good.

(3) Transitional hominin species Homo habilis gets a new set of skeletal remains, confirming the earlier ones, and our favorite junior anthropologist (Erika, a.k.a. Gutsick Gibbon) summarizes both the background science and the new paper on the new find. The real science can be a bit boring, but that’s often definitive for real science.


(4) Reaction video to (IMO) one of the best live rock performances from back in the mid-70s – by that band called Rush.

Yes, it’s annoying that she keeps interrupting the good parts, so here it is without interruption.

Since we are created in the image of God, any limitations upon us are placed there by us. Ergo, the limitations placed upon machine intelligence are placed there by us which cannot exceed the limitations placed upon us.

Interesting. If we have to have artificial intelligence, music, and the like, I’m glad that quality tunes are being included, even sometimes with the added “spice” of electric guitar sounds. IMO society needs the old songs, as well as beautiful melodies, that bind us together. That one is English, but it still applies.

I have thought that they have to know what they’re doing and the effect it could have. They have all been vocal thought leaders, and they understand that people need motivation to vote. All the reasons I can think of for why they would be acting in such ways are appalling:
• They have turned on MAGA because they don’t want America to be great, domestically and internationally.
• They have TDS and hate Pres. Trump.
• They think they know better than Pres. Trump, and many others, how the country should be run.
• They are jealous of someone or some others and are lashing out.
• They are being paid by enemies within to tear down Pres. Trump and what he is accomplishing.
• They are being paid by foreign enemies, countries, and/or organizations to tear down Pres. Trump and what he is accomplishing.
• They were never what they represented themselves to be.
• And more.

It all amounts to one thing, IMO, that is hard for me to get my head around: they are worse than Thomas Paine’s “sunshine patriots”; they are traitors.

Last week, former State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis was sentenced to probation and community service after being convicted of four felonies including Attempt to Influence a Public Official. She made a horrible mistake, and she was wrong. I hope she learns from this and can rebuild her life. As someone who has known Sonya as a friend for many years, on a personal level I was glad to hear she isn’t going to prison which is a hard place for anyone, no less a retired 68-year old pharmacist. But it is not lost on me that she was convicted of the exact same felony charge as Tina Peters — attempting to influence a public official — and yet Tina Peters, as a non-violent first time offender got a nine year sentence. Justice in Colorado and America needs to be applied evenly, you never know when you might need to depend on the rule of law. This is the context I am using as I consider cases like this that have sentencing disparities, which is why I have extended the deadline for clemency applications until April 3rd. I will be making decisions on these cases throughout the remainder of my governorship.

Polis said he would use that context as he considers such cases sentencing disparities and that he has extended the deadline for clemency applications until April 3. 

…Peters’ attorney, Peter Ticktin, told “PBS News Hour” on Wednesday regarding the governor’s post that he hoped his client would be released this week.

“I was anticipating this, as I know that he feels strongly that Tina’s sentence was excessively harsh. Now that he sees the dichotomy between Tina’s sentence and that of Sonya Jaquez Lewis, who got off felonies with probation,” Ticktin said. 

Polis previously indicated that he was considering granting clemency to Peters, whose sentence he previously described as “harsh”…

It would be excessively cruel not to grant clemency now, with it being discussed like this.

Language & communications barriers only make it harder for callers to get the results they want.

So the FCC is seeking comment on several ideas that could help, including 

✅ Facilitating the onshoring of foreign call centers

Me: Unless this means “Facilitating the onshoring of CALL centers, not foreign ones, then no! No more foreign call centers. The idea that a foreigner in a different country, or a foreigner recently brought to our shores, could understand the nuances of the language and culture well enough to provide excellent customer service, is preposterous. Bringing foreign call centers here won’t solve the problem of thick accents that are sometimes impossible to understand. And we don’t need more foreigners here. Give the jobs to Americans.

✅ Requiring operators at call centers to be proficient in American Standard English 

Me: How likely is it that very many foreigners (*cough* Indians in India *cough*) would be proficient in American Standard English to be able to communicate effectively with Americans? And who would be the judge of that? I had to talk with a woman once who tried to give me a phone number, and every number sounded just alike.

✅ Further cracking down on illegal robocalls from abroad through the use of targeted tariffs or bonds.

The FCC’s proposals focus on the call centers run by the communications providers regulated by the FCC. And could represent steps for the government to build on more broadly.

I don’t see a way to comment, yet. I wonder if AI is going to eliminate this problem by being able to handle all of the customer service calls.
