It is just 20% of the Oil & Gas only (NOT the coal or nuclear power) taken off line. Given that the “goal” of the Climate Crazies is 100% net zero by 2030 (last time I looked), we have simply moved 1 year closer to that goal, and will need to do the same every year… ’27, ’28, ’29, ’30 & ‘success’… so WHY bother to reopen it? It will just set the world back a full year on their “progress” to their “goal”…
Embrace the pain. Live with the economic collapse, the $10 / gallon gasoline & Diesel fuel. The hunger from food system collapse and the lack of damn near everything as shipping and international trade shudders to a halt. That IS what will come anyway, as long as the goals do not change.
So think of this as a small 20% “taster” of stopping oil & gas. Realize that more power comes from Coal, and that isn’t done yet (so really this is about a 10% “hit” of the total).

I’m in the USA, so this mostly has no effect on me. Gas is up about $1 to $1.50 compared to Trump’s best and still lower than Biden’s disaster. Stores are still fully stocked. I expect no significant worsening for things here. BUT even with the USA oil & LNG “lifeline” to Europe, they are toast. Just not possible to refill the natural gas storage in time for winter without M.E. LNG. (or Russian gas… that will now go to China instead). Were I living in Europe, I’d be moving out.
Oh, and California is going to implode badly too, as they are shutting oil refineries and depending on tankers to deliver oil from Russia & the Middle East after refining in Asia… who have announced they are halting exports.
How bad will it be in Asia? Remembering that we get most manufactured goods, materials & products from them now. China got hacked, China NOT backing a UN Security Counsel move to open the Strait. Continuing decline of Real Estate and exports…

From what I get of news, there are some massive protests there, which started with the prices of fuel, which has truckers and farmers out and protesting, demanding that the taxes and fees on fuel be reduced. The authorities won’t have any of that so now things are escalating, with the police making themselves ready for action.
Whether this will escalate into some kind of civil war or become an excuse for establishing the Panopticon is not so clear at the moment.

I usually skip a lot of the math and science opens initially. its morning, give me funnies, and the news and coffee.
then when my brain makes an appearance, I can go back and read the finer details of the heavy opens.

In a recent move, Florida went full English-only on its driver’s license exams. If you can’t read and write in English, you won’t be driving in the state of Florida.

– 176 were ‘taken out of service’ for issues
– 54 drivers found with “language deficiencies”
– 42 drivers were illegals and referred to ICE
They discovered drivers with NO NAMES on their CDLs, “I saw several, actually, some of the driver’s license that we would find wouldn’t even have a name on the CDL. Literally no name, but you got a CDL, no first name — No name given from other states. That is not from the state of Florida.
So you’re having people with no names, operating commercial motor vehicles with different types of endorsement, running up and down your highways.”

This entire article is fascinating material on the effect of having wealth vs. genetics being a driver of generational success. But if you read nothing else in it, this paragraph is a necessity. I did NOT know this information:

Here’s another very interesting paragraph:

This reminds me of the effect of putting a child into an environment that they can’t live up to, and what happens to them then. I’ve watched it happen; children with special needs who are put into classrooms with kids working far above them get discouraged fast. That’s what I think the above paragraph might reflect; discouragement in face of inability to keep up.
