Quoting “liberally” from that page……

Hanukkah for the year 2022 is celebrated/ observed on sundown of December 18 ending at sundown on Monday, December 26.

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish festival with the first day known as Chanukah, Festival of Lights, and Feast of Dedication. In the Jewish calendar, the first day of Hanukkah is on the 25th day of the month of Kislev. In the Gregorian calendar, Hanukkah may occur between late November to late December.

Why do Jewish holidays start at nighttime?

According to the Torah, the story of creation in Genesis says “And it was evening, and it was morning day one”, “And it was evening, and it was morning; the second day”, thus night comes before day. So for the Jewish calendar all days begin at nightfall and end the next day at nightfall including holidays.

SO – Hanukkah starts on the night of December 18th this year.

You can start celebrating by enjoying this music video!

If you want to learn more about how to actually light a menorah (which apparently isn’t a menorah, technically, even though everybody calls it that), go here:

And left to right, right to left, add lit candles, subtract lit candles – there is a certain amount of flexibility, although some aspects are basically requisite (kosher).

Hanukkah reminds me of Melania, Ivanka, and Jared, in particular, because the ladies always looked so nice in those Hanukkah pictures from the White House.

Enjoy this gallery of photos!

One of the first images from the White House website!

I always love this picture!

Ivanka and Jared and family on the first night of Hanukkah.

Apple and Android beating the media to the story!

Look at those well-behaved kids!

Arabella and Joseph lighting the first candle!

Ivanka and Jared’s window menorah, with a candle-filled one visible in the background.

So – there you have it!

Whatever your faith, enjoy the Festival of Lights!

Trump always had great respect for Jewish holidays and the Jewish people.

My first job in accounting, after I’d graduated from the University of Casual Sun-Bathing, was at a small family yiddische kopf CPA firm in Encino. They were such good people.

In return, I was their farblondjet blond goy — but they took me in and taught me well.

Valerie Curren

reading your yiddish link makes me think you weren’t the mixed up guy very often 😉

I had my moments….

One client, I’d go out there quarterly and post their general ledger. Their disbursements under “Auto Expense”, would typically be $900, $1100, $1000, $850, $1200…..until it was $14,000 in December. I expensed it all.

And got called-up on the carpet for expensing a car.

Valerie Curren

although I’ve done my/our taxes all my life, since being a teen, I don’t Really know what you mean by “expensing” something…slow guy stuff apparently 😉

If you buy an automobile for business use, you’re supposed to book it as a business asset and depreciate it. The business had been averaging about $1000/month for “automobile expenses (gas, repairs, etc.) and all-of-a-sudden paid $14,000 in one month…..because they had purchased a new car. I hadn’t caught it and left it in with “expenses”.

Ah, thanks!

There is a joke with a complicated build-up that, for once, I will spare you….but it ends up with a random Jew greeting the Pope with, “Gut Yontiff, Pontiff.”

KJV Genesis 1 says:

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

So, it’s not like it’s a Jewish thing.

Slow night.

Some may remember when the Trumps visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem in 2017.

Being that the wall is a little bit older than modern gender roles, there is a section that may be visited by men and a section that may be visited by women. Melania and Ivanka visited the ladies’ wall, while VSGPOTUSDJT visited the men’s wall.
