Yours Truly went to the ophthalmologist a couple of days ago. Long exam, many tests.
The good news: Eyesight is stable; no new glasses Rx needed. No retina issues. No macular degeneration. No glaucoma.
The not-so-good news: Cataracts are slightly worse. I may need cataract surgery in a year or two.
Next exam is a year from now.
So, when one got back to the house (after waiting at the eye clinic for awhile for the eye dilation drops to start wearing off), one contacted the ND + TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) practitioner who’s been treating me for over 30 years. The goal is to either slow down the progression of the cataracts, and/or to dissolve some of the protein buildup on the lenses of the eyes (the reason for the cataracts.)

It is my understanding that human cells have a lifespan. Therefore, those altered cells don’t survive indefinitely but get replaced by a copy of themselves.
I would call it reversible if that cloning process could be halted. Sort of like not filling job vacancies.
If my understanding is correct, the DNA of the LINE-1 cells is basically “swapped out” with new gene code.

If I understand correctly, what’s going on is the changing of the underlying DNA sequence itself in the LINE-1 cells, as opposed to altering the ability of the DNA for gene expression.

[For those not familiar, many say that you should begin each morning by eating a live toad. This dramatically increases the chance that nothing worse will happen throughout your day. In this case, I had my DMSO before my tea.]
Being that #2 was an improvement over #1, I’m continuing with the same mix.
I made sure not to smell the stuff, then rapidly glugged it down the hatch. This was another improvement — there wasn’t a pause for the time-lag and odor to kick in, there was still the taste of lemon-lime to buffer it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do the whole dose in one run, but got 2/3 finished before coming up for air. As before, my second quaff was better than the first.

Devion Canty Jr. was captured on video disrespectfully reenacting the conservative commentator’s murder during a memorial event held on the Texas State University campus.

So it sounds like the Franklin Armory’s new Antithesis looks and functions like an AR-15, fires regular AR-15 rounds (5.56 NATO / .223) and it can also fire multiple-projectile cartridges in a form factor that looks similar to a 5.56 / .223, but contains multiple small projectiles like a shotgun shell.
So whether you ever use the multiple-projectile ammo or not, it’s basically a legal short-barrel AR-15 that requires no NFA paperwork or tax stamp.

I’m not sure, this is the first I’ve heard of it, but whether anyone takes advantage of the alternate ammo capability, the fact that it can use two different types of ammo (standard AR-15 ammo plus multiple-projectile ammo) exempts it from NFA, as the laws are written, and apparently Franklin Armory has already tested it in the courts, according to the video.
So it’s legal anywhere an AR-15 is legal, which is everywhere, now that AR-15 and high capacity mag bans are being ended.
And they are licensing the manufacture to everyone, so all the AR-15 companies will be able to offer it.

Okay, I’m reading the EO on the H1b visa and researching the program itself.
Key points.
It impacts all H1B visa applications submitted after 12:01am Sept 21st so Sunday.
The visa is good for 3 years and can be renewed for another 3 years.
The new fee of $100,000 will be for each visa.
New rulemaking will be done by the dept of labor (prevailing wages) and dept of Homeland (make sure only highskilled and high paid positions filed)
Payment must be made Before visa is even applied for.
Sec of Homeland can waive the restrictions if it’s a matter of national security and does not pose a threat.
Sec of state gets more leeway to determine B visas issued for family members of H1b holders. (Probably will crack down on the H4 visas).
The H1B cap remains at 85,000 a year. (65000 for undergraduate and 20,000 for advance degrees)
If all visas are granted, it will add $ 8.5 billion to US fed treasury.
Final thoughts: This is a great policy that will change the thinking by CFOs on hiring practices in the US and will help college educated Americans obtain jobs after graduation. It’s not perfect, but compared to the current system, it is a very good policy. The rulemaking and the sec of state having more leeway to restrict H4 visas are the hidden gems in the EO.

Rule making. Is the hidden gem in the H1b visa.
“(a) The Secretary of Labor shall initiate a rulemaking to revise the prevailing wage levels to levels consistent with the policy goals of this proclamation consistent with section 212(n) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1182(n).
(b) The Secretary of Homeland Security shall initiate a rulemaking to prioritize the admission as nonimmigrants of high-skilled and high-paid aliens, consistent with sections 101, 212, and 214 of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1101, 1182, and 1184. ”
This stops the next president from simply opening up the floodgates again because the economic incentive will not be there for companies.

I see so many people asking some very important questions.
Why didn’t the Left stop when they already had power? Why didn’t Conservatives realize what was happening sooner? Why did it have to get to this point?
People will look back one day and realize that, whether they realized it or not, Progressives wielded an immense amount of cultural and political power in the late 2000s and early 2010s, and yet it was not enough for these individuals.
For some reason, these people wanted even more. They went way too far during the Great Awokening and became explicitly authoritarian and illiberal. And in doing so, they destabilized the entire system and radicalized the Right to become illiberal in response…thus initiating the crisis we now find ourselves in.
What’s so astonishing is not the fact that we’ve finally reached this point. It’s that Liberals are completely incapable of realizing that it was their actions from 2013 to 2024 that initiated the Right-wing backlash that’s now playing out.
But still, the question is why? I’ll try my best to answer this to explain where we currently are and where we might be heading.
Conservatives might already know the answer to the first question of why the Left didn’t stop before violence broke out. The Left’s entire project has never been just about winning an election or changing policies. It has always been about changing the nature of society and mankind itself.
Asking why the Left didn’t stop before violence broke out is like asking why water flows downhill. Doing otherwise would have meant violating a fundamental metaphysical law. The Left will never be satisfied with anything.
Everything will always be a good first step for them. Nothing will ever reach its end because the whole ideology is built around endless critique and perpetual revolution. Each new victory opens the door to a new struggle against oppression.
Which sort of leads me to why Conservatives didn’t realize what was happening sooner. They have the exact opposite problem of the Left in some ways. While the Left sees everything as an existential battle that requires total ideological mobilization, Conservatives have (until recently) bought into the illusion of neutrality.
In short, they continued to believe they were losing a game without realizing the rules of that game had been rigged from the start.
This also explains why we reached the point of violence. Once the old rules that Conservatives still believed in had been either abolished or rigged in a way that perpetually benefited the other side, the Left could no longer tolerate even the existence of dissent, because the dissenters were committed to bringing back the old rules which Liberals had long since declared to be oppressive.
And once dissent became synonymous with “bringing back oppression”, even the idea of tolerating the existence of Conservatives became an immoral act. And if Conservatives refuse to repent and become Progressives themselves (let alone if they continued to preach in places that had already moved past the point of debating what is sacred vs what is profane), then violence naturally became the logical endpoint.
Charlie’s murder is the most extreme example of this, but there are countless others. Many accounts on this site have documented this, particularly in the education system and on college campuses.
I’ve spent the past week mulling over what we could have done differently or how we as a society could have avoided this calamity that we now find ourselves in. But I can’t see an off-ramp in the rear-view mirror. I don’t think this was a detour so much as it was the destination.
The fact is, the Left cannot and will not stop because their worldview contains no brakes. It demands a universal, totalizing view of the world between the forces of good (them) and the forces of evil (everyone else). And once you map that worldview into a political movement, violence against those you demonize is essentially inevitable.
