On Feb. 4, Lenard Dozier Hill III, a third-generation occupant of his cotton-and-soybean acreage, was about to have his land sold out from under him. ”That morning, it was going to be auctioned off at the courthouse steps, so he committed suicide,” said Betsy Sharp, his daughter. In the bedroom of the Hill home, along with the .22-caliber rifle that did the work, was a neat stack of life insurance policies and other papers on the nightstand.
Hill had intended for the life insurance payout to cover most of his $300,000 debt and so save the family farm for another generation. It was a grievous miscalculation. Most, if not all, life insurance policies include a clause that prohibits payment in cases of suicide. “He didn’t realize all that,” Sharp said.Hill’s desperate act struck a chord.
Reporters and TV crews descended on the Waynesboro church where the funeral was held. Vandals painted “farmer killer” on the door of the local bank. Once the family realized the financial futility of Hill’s suicide, the burden of saving the farm fell on his widow, Annabel Hill, a 66-year-old teacher and social worker with gray hair and large glasses.

The Day I Went Head-To-Head With Donald Trump

Whenever I hear someone complain that Donald Trump is “not presidential,” I reply, “Compared to whom? Which president are we talking about? How ‘presidential’ was Barack Obama in 2008 when he said of the Republicans, ‘If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun’?”
And just what are the qualities that really matter in a president?
The overwhelming majority of Mr. Trump’s detractors have never sat across the table from him to hammer out a multimillion-dollar business deal. I have. So I think I’m in a better position than they are to judge his effectiveness as a top-level executive.
Because of the duty of confidentiality that I owe to my clients and to the other members of the negotiating team, I can’t give specific details on the project that was discussed at the meeting. But I can share my own impressions on what it was like to deal directly with Mr. Trump.
The first thing I noticed about Mr. Trump was that he was a stickler for detail. As a politician, he may affect a breezy platform style, but in the office, he was all business. Right off the bat, he corrected my team’s estimates of future financing requirements. He must have phoned an expert minutes before the meeting, because he said that by the latest market information he had, our current interest rates were off by 0.1%.
That was for openers. He went through every element of our proposal with a gimlet eye, challenging our assumptions, forecasts and business models with an exactitude and a level of expertise that was most impressive. It was as if he had a Wharton business professor whispering in his ear.
He wasted no time on civilities. He was brusque, impatient and dismissive of any information that he thought was inadequate, or any detail that he thought did not bear directly on the matter at hand. He cut right to the heart of things.
The senior members of my negotiating team were the products of privilege and Ivy League schools, and were highly successful executives in their own right. They were not used to this kind of treatment.
But for my own part, I had not only been an attack flight officer in the first Gulf war, I had also driven a truck through some of New York’s roughest neighborhoods. So I took it all in stride. Mr. Trump is a New Yorker, I reasoned. Fine. So am I. We can speak the same language—even if that language is rather coarse to some ears. We understand each other.
In the end, I can say that Mr. Trump drove a hard bargain. But he was honest, and he was a square dealer. When we were through—in less time than we had expected—we had reached an agreement that was ethical, profitable and fair to all parties concerned. It was also an agreement that meant good jobs for working people and healthy tax revenues for the local government.
If we didn’t come away from the table liking Mr. Trump, there’s no question that we came away with a lot of respect for him. He was a tough, shrewd, no-nonsense executive who knew how to get things done, and done quickly. He was also an adversary whom no one would want to mess with.

I think the time has come when patients need to ask questions about whether AI is being used, in what areas, and to what extent. And as I write that, I think *they* will lie to us. Healthcare is in a sorry state.
I certainly would expect nothing less from a radiologist than to make a considerable defense for himself and his job.
Ideally, and there’s no good reason this can’t happen, X-ray costs will drop dramatically, meaning many more people get X-rays, resulting in many more people detecting problems early and getting early treatment.
With A.I. screening the X-rays, a smaller number of human radiologists would be needed, who could focus on people whose X-ray results require medical attention, lowering healthcare costs.
And a simple way to prevent the problem raised by the radiologist above, is to have every X-ray examined by three (or more) A.I.s.
No two A.I.s could experience the same ‘mirage’ problem, and if all three do not agree on the X-ray analysis, then the X-ray in question automatically goes to a human radiologist for review.
In other words, we can solve for the problems A.I. presents.
Obviously the people being displaced by A.I. are motivated to not come up with those solutions.
AI is only as good as what it is given, and it has been shown that it can go rogue. If they want to use it as a tool to assist doctors, and that doctors can and will monitor, that’s one thing; but I would not trust it to be the exclusive reader of my X-rays, no matter how many AI models were being used.

I didn’t mean it in that way, I meant that the cost of using A.I. is orders of magnitude lower than employing teams of radiologists.
Today, an insurance company decides who gets an X-ray and who doesn’t, based on how much it’s going to cost the insurance company to pay the radiologist (and other associated costs).
When A.I. is used, at least at the preliminary stage, to screen X-rays for problems which, if anomalies are found, are then reviewed by human radiologists, insurance companies will approve a lot more X-rays, which means a lot more problems will be discovered and treated early.
A.I. can examine millions of X-rays very cheaply, freeing up human radiologists to work on the cases where problems have already been discovered by A.I.
This same process will apply to all sorts of medical tests. A.I. can handle the majority workload of locating anomalies, then forward those to humans for further review.
This results in at least three benefits:
1) many more people get tested for various potential problems, because the cost of testing (especially the process of reviewing test results) should be dramatically reduced
2) many more people getting tested (due to lower costs) means many more people are able to discover medical problems early, and get early treatment, meaning many more lives are saved
3) one and two above may (probably will) result in even more human radiologists (and other specialists) being needed, because the workload of patients with actual medical issues should increase based on increased medical testing of all kinds, which is made possible by dramatically reduced testing costs, which is a result of A.I.

when I was having CT scans every other month as part of my cancer treatment, I had a choice of two imaging clinics to use. My doc told me he’d rather have me use the same clinic each time. He said it’s because different radiologists read the scans differently.
Apparently techs have a ‘style’ regarding what they see. If two competent radiologists can see a scan differently, then I’m pretty sure A.I. can’t compete.

I’m not clear about the meaning of this. Why has Flynn openly criticized Trump? If it’s supposedly to make people think, I don’t buy that at all. There are lots of ways to induce thought without tearing down the person who is saving the country.
I also don’t think the reason why PDJT doesn’t tell us things is to make us think. Of course there are the military and national security reasons, and to prevent leaks. But after the fact, if Pres. Trump revealed his strategy, it would still reveal too much to the enemy. Information is power. I’ve watched in amazement at times that Dems and some on our side still can’t figure out where Pres. From what I understand, the problem arises when the written word is disseminated as the work of a human being. That can be deceptive, inaccurate, etc. We also need to know when a video is AI-generated.

Believers cautioned against giving heed to every one that pretends to the Spirit. (1-6) Brotherly love enforced. (7-21)
7-13 The Spirit of God is the Spirit of love. He that does not love the image of God in his people, has no saving knowledge of God. For it is God’s nature to be kind, and to give happiness. The law of God is love; and all would have been perfectly happy, had all obeyed it. The provision of the gospel, for the forgiveness of sin, and the salvation of sinners, consistently with God’s glory and justice, shows that God is love. Mystery and darkness rest upon many things yet. God has so shown himself to be love, that we cannot come short of eternal happiness, unless through unbelief and impenitence, although strict justice would condemn us to hopeless misery, because we break our Creator’s laws. None of our words or thoughts can do justice to the free, astonishing love of a holy God towards sinners, who could not profit or harm him, whom he might justly crush in a moment, and whose deserving of his vengeance was shown in the method by which they were saved, though he could by his almighty Word have created other worlds, with more perfect beings, if he had seen fit. Search we the whole universe for love in its most glorious displays? It is to be found in the person and the cross of Christ. Does love exist between God and sinners? Here was the origin, not that we loved God, but that he freely loved us. His love could not be designed to be fruitless upon us, and when its proper end and issue are gained and produced, it may be said to be perfected. So faith is perfected by its works. Thus it will appear that God dwells in us by his new-creating Spirit. A loving Christian is a perfect Christian; set him to any good duty, and he is perfect to it, he is expert at it. Love oils the wheels of his affections, and sets him on that which is helpful to his brethren. A man that goes about a business with ill will, always does it badly. That God dwells in us and we in him, were words too high for mortals to use, had not God put them before us. But how may it be known whether the testimony to this does proceed from the Holy Ghost? Those who are truly persuaded that they are the sons of God, cannot but call him Abba, Father. From love to him, they hate sin, and whatever disagrees with his will, and they have a sound and hearty desire to do his will. Such testimony is the testimony of the Holy Ghost.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

LEWISTON — As Masjidu Salaam Mosque leaders work through the city planning and permitting process to enlarge a parking area at the 240 Bartlett St. building, complaints about building occupancy and parking violations at worship times continue to mount.
Tensions between the mosque and Mid Valley Motors/Leonard Heavy Duty Towing, which sits directly across the street, culminated March 27 in the mosque alleging ‘targeted harassment and racist behavior’ from the company and the city.
“The Lewiston Police Department conducted numerous unnecessary and targeted parking enforcement sweeps near the mosque on Friday, ignoring their responsibility to keep the community safe to instead focus on a right-wing grievance,” the mosque said in a statement sent to the newspaper. “Lewiston Code Enforcement, meanwhile, recently took time to see if too many people were attending religious services at the mosque.”

I started our taxes this morning (used standard deduction instead of usual Schedule A) & got copies at the library before it closed at 5pm & then got them in the mail by 5:30pm, local post office closed by 6pm. Michael was super late getting home, more than 13 hours since he left at 4am so we met at PO so he could sign the 3 forms requiring his signature. We went out for an exhausted dinner after at a local fave for us 🙂
Last night the sirens in our city went off for tornadic activity rolling through the area, they woke Michael up about 2 am when he gets up 3:30-3:40 usually, making him exhausted for his very long work day. I was praying that God would spare us any damage, injuries, or death from these storms. M found out today that they touched down to the West/South of us & also to the East/North of us skipping over our community (where 3 of our 4 kids & all our grandkids live) & also missing Dad’s house. So thankful for God’s Mercies! ❤
