An Eternal Perspective
Living with eternity in mind is the wisest way to live. An eternal perspective keeps us from chasing empty dreams and material gratification. It keeps us from wasting our years pursuing temporal things that we can’t take with us when we die. We gain an eternal perspective when we think of our lives as a 1000-foot rope with a black tip on one end: the rope symbolizes our existence; the black tip is our life on earth. We tend to focus all our passion and energy on the black tip while giving little thought to the rest of the rope.
There are several ways to develop and maintain an eternal perspective on life:
1. Make certain you have been born again (John 3:3). Eternity awaits all of us, but the only way to ensure that we spend eternity in heaven with God is to be born again. That new birth results in a renewed spirit and a new desire to please God. When we accept by faith the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on our behalf, the Holy Spirit moves into our spirits and births us into God’s forever family (Romans 8:15–17). It’s at that point that we begin to gain an eternal perspective.
2. Be filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:31; Ephesians 5:18). We receive the Holy Spirit as a gift the moment we are saved (Acts 2:38), and He continues to work in our lives. However, the degree to which we submit ourselves to His transforming work is the degree to which we can live with an eternal perspective. When we are “filled” with the Spirit, we are totally yielded to Him. He has control of us. Galatians 5:16 says that, if we walk by the Spirit, we will not gratify the lusts of our flesh. Sinful self-gratification, focused on the things of this world, cannot coexist with an eternal perspective. The solution for self-centeredness is to surrender to the Holy Spirit (Galatians 2:20).
3. Store up treasure in heaven. Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19–21). The treasures we store for eternity are the things done for Christ on earth. Even offering a cup of cold water to a servant of the Lord is cause for reward (Matthew 10:42). An eternal perspective is one that has shifted from earthly concerns to heavenly ones and invests time, energy, and resources in God’s kingdom.
4. Spend time with God and His Word (Psalm 119:11). We would not expect our cars to go a thousand miles on a single tank of gas. Yet, we think a quick prayer or a tweeted Bible verse is sufficient to sustain an eternal perspective for weeks or months. We need continual refilling of truth. Romans 12:1–2 calls it the “renewing” of the mind. Spending time in the presence of God invites Him to reveal areas of our lives that are not surrendered to Him. We acknowledge and confess those and then replace the lies we’ve believed with truths from His Word. This continual “washing” of the Word (Ephesians 5:26) keeps our priorities in agreement with God’s and helps maintain an eternal perspective.
5. Stay conscious of the fact that this world is not all there is. It is easy to lose ourselves in daily cares and desires. But those who live with an eternal perspective are equally aware that every day counts down toward our final journey. Second Corinthians 4:17–18 says, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” We must intentionally redirect our thoughts toward that which is eternal, judging the value of decisions based on their eternal significance. Colossians 3:1–3 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
God has commanded that we live with an eternal perspective. If holding an eternal perspective came naturally, He would not need to command it. So we choose to continually set our minds on things above. As we develop a habit of setting our minds on eternal things, we begin to handle things differently from those with earth-bound perspectives, and the eternal mindset becomes part of us.

All of us who are born again struggle daily because we realize just how short we fall from the example of Christ. That we recognize it is a blessing from the Lord. The apostle Paul even struggled with this constantly. The Holy Spirit will remind us of our screw ups and short comings as the Lord wills to serve as a reminder of where we need to pick it up a bit and where we once were. It is not to condemn, but to educate and help. As painful as that is, I am eternally grateful because it humbles me more.
My own failure frequently has been in the being more forgiving of others who are caught in the cycle of sin, then He reminds me of my own. I will be praying for Him to strengthen you in this pursuit because it is highly worthy of your efforts!
I struggled with forgiveness for a long time, for people who had damaged me beyond repair, until it was explained to me that forgiving them only meant that I didn’t seek vengeance for their actions, but that I was giving that up to God.
That I can do. I don’t want to punish others. I just want to let them go, and let God handle their sin and any consequences for it. I can’t tell you the freedom this has given me. It is the lifting of the heaviest burden I’ve ever known.

That is EXACTLY how I have chosen to handle it. I know I have harmed others in my life, how could I not forgive by letting the offenses of others go and giving it to God? That does not mean you can always reconcile with people face to face. Death and circumstances may determine that to not be possible. But you can release it in your own heart and not desire for them to be punished any more than you want to be for your own sin and issues.

Quite profound.
Many times, I’ve struggled to forgive, because it takes *two* parties – one to repent (genuinely sorrowful for the one wronged), and the other to forgive by accepting the ones apology.
I’ve felt “stuck” when I *don’t* receive an apology, especially when the transgressor acts as though nothing happened – or even worse, as though the wrongful act was actually righteous.
Reading your words, though, helps a lot. It almost never occurs to me to seek vengeance, because it just serves to further more destruction – it’s useless.
Perhaps even the ‘neutral’ meaning of forgiveness (i.e., not requiring an apology) works just as well, and especially because God will sort everything out according to His divine wisdom and grace.

My parents did terrible things to me, for which they never asked me for forgiveness. They never said they were sorry for what they did, even when I confronted them with their actions. They were incredibly toxic to me. My mother sent spies to watch me and my children for years, as confirmed by relatives who knew she did it. For all I know, she does it still.
Over the years, many people told me I had to “forgive them.” Without ever telling me that forgiving them did NOT mean I had to let my parents back into my life, tolerate their abuse, or accept their toxicity.
I once believed what you said, that forgiveness is not possible without repentance. But it’s not ME they have to repent to; It’s God. And it’s His place to exact vengeance if He chooses, if they refuse to repent. It certainly is not my place.
When forgiveness was finally explained to me properly, my literal first response was “Wait a minute! I did that already, years and years ago!” Because I never thought it was my place to punish them or seek vengeance or whatever for all the things they did. I just wanted to be left in peace, away from them.

No, it shouldn’t. It is not just a pattern of abuse, both of the People and the legal system, but it’s their entire modus operandi, it’s an open WAR against the People and the Constitution, and it needs to be put down with government VIOLENCE.

IMO, elected officials who swore an oath to defend the Constitution should be immediately removed from office the first time they propose or support an unconstitutional measure. I would have a judicial body review every piece of legislation, declare whether it is in line with the Constitution and American values, and determine whether those people could stay in office.
Of course that is extra-Constitutional, so it’s not going to happen without legislation, and that’s not happening, either.
I don’t know what state officeholders’ oaths of allegiance say and whether they swear to uphold the U.S. Constitution, so it might not work in those situations. Saturday morning, I was at the other club — BAEM. Our most experienced member, Dwight, recently had a fall on his driveway and is hobbling around with a walker, so he wasn’t at the meeting. He is of an age where this is quite a setback, so prayers for his recovery would be appreciated. Over the years, in his private capacity, Dwight built an airplane from scratch for himself and flew it around for a while, as well as casting molten metal in forms on his driveway. In his professional life, he worked on nuclear submarines…..but if he told us more, he’d have to kill us.
One of our other members brought in a steam engine for a bicycle. The burners were from a Coleman camp stove, and he had a friend calc whether he’d get enough steam. Unfortunately, his friend thought it would be one piston and it actually had two, so the builder made it into a compound engine where the 2nd piston ran off the exhaust from the first (you have to change the cylinder size and valve timing, this is non-trivial). He got the boiler and the steam engine parts working, but the thing weighed 70 pounds when ready to mount onto the bicycle…..which caused the bike to flip the non-driven wheel into the air. He decided to bring it in to show to us before he parted it out. Charlie does quirky, inventive projects (including a calliope for the GGLS club), which helps to reconcile oneself to this steampunkish project’s disassembelly.

COMMENTARY FOR REVELATION 21:7
A new heaven, and new earth: the new Jerusalem where God dwells, and banishes all sorrow from his people. (1-8) Its heavenly origin, glory, and secure defence. (9-21) Its perfect happiness, as enlightened with the presence of God and the Lamb, and in the free access of multitudes, made holy. (22-27)
1-8 The new heaven and the new earth will not be separate from each other; the earth of the saints, their glorified, bodies, will be heavenly. The old world, with all its troubles and tumults, will have passed away. There will be no sea; this aptly represents freedom from conflicting passions, temptations, troubles, changes, and alarms; from whatever can divide or interrupt the communion of saints. This new Jerusalem is the church of God in its new and perfect state, the church triumphant. Its blessedness came wholly from God, and depends on him. The presence of God with his people in heaven, will not be interrupt as it is on earth, he will dwell with them continually. All effects of former trouble shall be done away. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Yes, the full context of both:
Acts 2:

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
So if anyone uses Acts 2:17 to say that these are the last days and Scripture says there will be prophets and visions, they are not taking into account the context and the other things that are predicted to happen, that aren’t happening.
Interesting view. It could be that these verses are describing a continuum of things that will happen in the “last days” before “that great & notable day of the Lord” comes, not that they necessarily will have to happen simultaneously.
A continuum, possibly. But in that case, what is the timeline, and why do certain people think they have been given knowledge of it? How long, during the purported last days, does the prophesying go on before the other events? Scripture very clearly uses “and” in listing the events. There will be prophesies AND all the other things. IMO it is ill-advised to say that the “prophets’ of today indicate a fulfillment of those Scriptures. I have yet to investigate even one whom I would consider to be a prophet in the Biblical sense (i.e., a true prophet of God).
I spent my youth in an independent Spirit-filled church & there were sometimes “prophecies” during the worship portion of the service. These were (perhaps) Holy Spirit quickened verbiages that were mostly of either a praising of God or edifying of The Body Nature, not predictions to be verified, iirc. I don’t recall anyone referring to those who had such “outbursts” as “prophets” so it might have been more a term of art growing out of certain faith traditions. That church had sort-of grown out of an Assemblies of God background though the founder had been raised as a RCC before being “saved” in a direct encounter with God.
I know this comes from rather allegorical fiction but there is a passage in one of C. S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia where the great Lion, Aslan (a type of Christ), speaks with a young girl Lucy & mentions something that would be happening “soon”. When she inquires of Him how long “soon” would be He replies, “I call all times soon.” In God’s perspective that is probably also pretty true!
Wow, I started to write my feelings on the subject of false prophets and how their defenders take Scripture out of context, and a dissertation emerged! I will not burden you with that, but I am saving it in case it could ever be useful. (And this is still long; sorry.)
I agree that we don’t know God’s timeline. But I see this happening:
• There are verses in Acts and Joel about the last days and prophecy.
• There are people today who have made a business out of being “prophets.”
• Those people and their proponents use part of the passages in Acts and Joel to validate their assertions while ignoring the other parts of those passages.
• They justify this by saying we don’t know God’s timeline, using only part of the Scriptures to represent that they are a fulfillment of prophecy.
It doesn’t take long, if one is open, to debunk their claims, their lifestyles, and their practices.
Here is the latest egregious one. The other day a report was posted that “people connected to intelligence officials” (or some such) had sounded the alarm for pastors about what is to be revealed about extra-terrestrials. The idea was that the information would be so stunning that people could start to question their faith. I did some digging and could find nothing from this administration, but it led me to one of the pastors who twists Scripture into false teachings, and his buddies. It turns out that the “intelligence” people also had connections to this group.
So it was a tale made up by the fraudsters who are conning Christians, leading them to a new “mystery” to keep them hanging on. I don’t have words for the level of disgust I feel for what those people are doing.
Bottom line for me (not aimed at you): Trust nothing and verify everything, especially regarding people who claim to speak for God and those who claim to have new information. A number of so-called prophets of today are using people just as egregiously as the Dems do.

John Fetterman Opens Up About Phone Call to Erika Kirk, Rips Into Her Critics: ‘What’s Wrong With People?’
In the cutthroat world of hyperpartisan American politics, it’s rare to see much warmth emanate across the ideological aisles.
So many observers were somewhat surprised that after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner assassination attempt, reports surfaced that Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman had personally reached out and called Erika Kirk to make sure she was okay after the April incident.
(For the somehow unaware, Erika’s husband, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated by a shooter in September 2025.)
“The Charlie Kirk Show” executive producer Andrew Kolvet said that Fetterman was “pretty emotional” on the call with Erika, but didn’t offer too many other details.
And until now, little was publicly known about what was actually said during that call.
Fox News spoke to Fetterman about that call in a piece published Thursday, and the outspoken lawmaker offered a bit more insight into what happened.
“I expressed how sorry I am,” Fetterman said. “She was frantic, understandably, after her husband was assassinated.”
He added, “How triggering that must have been for her.”
Fetterman would go on to call the phone conversation a “very personal human interaction,” and said his “heart breaks” for Kirk after she had to live through more political violence less than a year following Charlie’s murder.
Fetterman’s more biting words were reserved for the people who saw fit to attack Kirk about her situation.
When asked about those online attacks against Kirk, Fetterman said, “It blows. People attack a widow. I mean what’s wrong with people? That’s bonkers.”

I will admit that to rate the book 5 stars, you probably have to enjoy reading about politics, or at least find them intriguing. I thought John Fetterman’s book was full of raw feeling and honest emotion, and he successfully conveyed the trauma of politics. I further admit that I am a conservative Independent, so don’t agree with the author on many points, but I do respect his honesty and the loyalty he maintains to his constituents. Unlike many others, he is true to himself. I do admire people who are faithful to their ideals and beliefs, and don’t “read the room” before speaking.

This book starts, “My name is John Karl Fetterman.” It doesn’t get much better from there. Fetterman is your garden-variety bully, which he admits, with a big ego. He takes no accountability for anything. His size was the reason he didn’t have friends, not being a bully. He had a stroke because he has a fib, and on and on. The one aspect of this book with any value, is encouragement for those seeking help for mental health problems. Which of course he has and is responsible for his inability to connect with people. He goes as far as turning the spotlight on himself when discussing the suicide of a friend, saying he considered suicide. He also takes his shot at Shapiro while he has the chance. It’s more important to look like the tough guy.
I am sure that he has done good things, likely bankrolled by his father. He was a volunteer big brother, although only for 2 years, and he agreed to see his little through school when the parents passed. Sounds great, but he only worked at CHUBB for 2 years, so I’m not sure where he got the money. Probably Dad. Look, he called the book Unfettered, and I get it .. he survived a stroke and had mental health issues, but if he truly was a man of the people, you call the book Fettered, and highlight the fallibility of us all, and the grace of asking for help. That’s being humble, which he is not. But I bet his father is. That’s who should be writing a memoir.
The book has 4.1 stars on Goodreads somehow, but book sales are very low.

It was just okay. Did not blow me away. Some good historical points, but could have just as easily been covered in an article.

Yours Truly: if one is reading the above paper correctly, it appears that all work for this experiment was performed at the Baric Lab at UNC. The Baric Lab is a BSL3 lab. Dr. Baric was experimenting with the Ebola virus during the timeframe when several persons in the United States were diagnosed with the virus. This is not to say or imply that the virus “leaked” from his lab during that time. It does mean that Dr. Baric was experimenting with a very lethal virus in his BSL3 lab at Chapel Hill.

Yours Truly: the above study was conducted with the cooperation of the BSL4 lab at the NIH Rocky Mountain site. All procedures using Ebola virus strains were performed at the Rocky Mountain site. If Yours Truly is reading the study correctly, it appears then that, after this part of the experiment was performed, procedures to remove cells, samples, etc., from the euthanized Ebola-infected mice were conducted at the Rocky Mountain site, where they were also disinfected / cleaned / processed, etc., and transferred to Baric’s lab at UNC. (See the Ethics Statement and related items below this in the paper.)
Although I’ve been freshly split from stem to stern, things are going well. Anytime you do something like spreading your intestines out on the table next to you snd run through more than 30 feet of it looking for obstructions or adhesions that could develop into obstructions, your body goes into “repair” mode which is condusive to making more adhesions with the possibility of developing into more obstructions . . . a never ending circle.
They’re easing me off the narcotic pain killer by cutting me back from every 4 hours to every 8 hours, which usually causes a significant amount of unpleasantness. Not really looking forward to that.

From my experience in AA and such, that is an aggressive step down used for when there’s a serious complication [drug interaction or allergy]. It is not a kind protocol. You need to argue with your docs about this.
On my recent effort a year ago, trying to lessen my need, we tried to get me from 5mg oxycodone every four hours to 5mg every six hours. That failed. I started to detox at about 5 hours.
Keep in mind that oxy is likely much weaker than what you’re on.
I’d demand a damn good answer from your docs or mention that you haven’t talked to your lawyer in awhile.
Fortunately, I’m not prone to getting addicted. I go on and off narcotics with a problem. It’s only when the underlying pain rears its ugly head that it’s a problem. I’m not doing badly with that approach.

We have 2 wars (Iran & Ukraine) Messing up the Global Economy

Iran is now at the top of the Leader Board, displacing Ukraine. It has “focused the minds” of a lot of folks.
We have about a 10% to 15% reduction in fossil fuel shipments globally, and it has thrown the world into a Hard Panic and marginally an Economic Collapse started.
Yet somehow the Gang Green Machine still bleats about the need to go to zero “carbon”.
We’ve just handed them our 2026 allotment of reduction, they ought to be happy about the consequences… Praising how much this is going to cool off the planet. But nope. The graft and scam rolls on.
At the same time, China is now suffering the start of an economic recession / depression. That had been in a kind of static state ( which, after decades of 12% range growth was bad enough) but between fuel starvation, tariffs, and their “customers” running out of money, then topped up with difficulty shipping things due to Bunker Fuel Oil dislocations:
Well, let’s just say China is in a bad way. So blocked exports of fertilizer, oil & oil products.
Pakistan & India look to be having it worse. They depended heavily on imports of LNG & LPG (methane and propane / butane) to run their economies and their cooking stoves. With that halted, there are cascade effects as city workers who can’t cook meals head back to the country homes where they can use wood scraps & dry dung.
The lack of fertilizers from The Gulf States and exports from China being blocked (as they can’t use Gulf oil to make any either) means many poor places (Pakistan / India / Africa) will have a hard time growing the needed quantities of foods. Add in the lack of exports of grain from Ukraine and the Sanctions on Russia food products – well, it’s going to be a very hard time in places that import food. Russia will be fine, as they have excess capacity for oil, oil products & lots of food production (being a major net exporter).
The Europeans are also going to be whacked by this, but more on them below. The UK too. Here in the USA we ought to be OK. We did import fertilizers from other countries lately, but we can get by on somewhat less, and we can also do other adaptations (plus we can outbid most of the world).
But just in case, I’ve got a few months worth of “preps” stored. I’ve also pretty much stopped buying fresh meat (other than chicken) since Australian Lamb (our preferred red meat) has doubled in price. So we have swapped over to ever more of our meals being “from inventory”, removing us from the buying pressure as the next crop cycle “has issues”.

I also expect to see European NATO idiots try some kind of attack / invasion of Transnistria and fail badly (or worse, some idiots may decide to attack Kaliningrad and get the Baltics overrun as a result).

Europe & UK vs Russia & The BRICS+
Germany and several other European nations seem to be hell bent on direct war with Russia. The “mood” seems to be aimed at spending a year or two building up military men & material for a war on Russia. They don’t seem to notice that Russia saw this coming as soon as BoJo flew to Istanbul to assure no agreement was signed (after it was initialed and verbally agreed to); so Russia has gone from a 900,000 man army to 2.2 Million Man army, all fully equipped. They are also making oodles of tanks each year, and stockpiling ammunition and strategic drones & missiles. Far more than Europe has, and far faster than the USA can build ours.
Any attempt to “stretch out the Ukraine war” long enough for NATO to “directly engage” is a folly. Putin saw this coming and Russia has been preparing for an attack from The West for at least 3 years this time. Note that Russian history from a Russian POV is that The West tries to invade and destroy Russia about every 100 years, starting about 900 years ago. They culturally expect it to happen again, and they are fully prepared to squash such an event (as they have had to do so many times before).
Meanwhile the German Economy is in the toilet and unable to crawl out of it. Substantially the same state for all of the economies of Europe (including the UK). All from following the destructive Green Dream and then the stupidity of shutting off Russian oil & gas. THE foundation of any thriving economy is LOW COST RELIABLE ENERGY. Really. And Europe has chosen to throw that away.
This means the economies of Europe, from The UK to Poland, are guaranteed to have a spiral decent into collapse.
So no, Europe can not make the needed weapons nor do that have the pool of men to draw from to conscript the soldiers needed to take on Russia.
Somebody over there needs to learn how to do basic High School (secondary school) maths. Look at the damn numbers, people. Italy is mostly over 60 years old and most of the EU south depended on Germany & the UK to stay funded. UK is now out (and broke anyway) and the German Engine has been turned off.
Trump is quite P.O’s about European NATO denying our rights to use the bases we built; or to even fly over their nations (use the air space). Frankly, I’m 100% with him. He’s started with a 5000 troop redeployment out of Germany. In the latest development, following the Tucson, Arizona, capture of Gerardo Mérida, a retired Mexican army general who served as public-security secretary in northwestern Sinaloa state, today Sinaloa Senator Enrique Inzunza Cazárez, who is also facing drug trafficking and weapon charges, was taken into custody in San Diego by the DEA.
Both Merida and Cazarez were named in the lengthy indictment that included current Sinaloa Governor Rocha Moya, who, if ground reports are accurate, appears to be hiding while protected by the Mexican national guard.
Here’s where it gets really interesting. According to the New York Post reporting, businessman Enrique Diaz Vega – another name from the indictment – also turned himself into U.S. authorities in Arizona last Friday. That means four of the ten men named are currently in custody, with Governor Rocha Moya hiding out in Mexico.
However, it gets even more interesting when highlighted with this section:
… “Inzunza Cázares’ lawyers reportedly held talks with the Department of Justice for his voluntary surrender and to become a government witness, Mexican newspaper El Universal reported May 2.”… {link} “A drug trafficker who surrenders and offers information primarily falls under the category of a cooperating witness,” a Department of Justice source told the outlet.
However, Inzunza Cázares shut down the report the same day. “Utterly false,” he wrote on X.
So, three days after the primary indictment was announced, Inzunza Cazares is reported to be working with the DEA and DOJ. He denies cooperation while in Mexico, and then two weeks later turns himself in to the DEA in San Diego.
It sounds like each of the men turning themselves in to U.S. authorities were facing a rather dangerous Hobson’s choice.
If they stayed in Mexico the Sinaloa cartel would consider them a threat, and it is likely that threat would be eliminated. After all, cooperation would be detrimental to the interests of the cartel. Or Senator Cazares, General Merida and businessman Vega could flee from that threat, turn themselves in and hope to live. It appears they chose the latter.

With three of the officials now in custody and reports of cooperation very visible in the headlines, is it only a matter of time before Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is forced to extradite Rocha Moya?… Or will the Sinaloa cartel just eliminate the threat Moya represents.
Perhaps the answer within that outcome determines who is in charge of Mexico, President Sheinbaum (Morena party) or the Cartels (Morena party).”

Cuba’s Officially Out Of Oil. Here’s What Happened
Cuba’s communist government confirmed on Friday what many of us predicted months ago: The island nation has officially run out of oil.
On May 14, Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy delivered the stark admission: “We have absolutely no fuel oil, absolutely no diesel.” Blackouts in Havana now exceed 20-22 hours daily, with electricity returning for as little as 90 minutes. How did it happen? It wasn’t bad luck or an act of God. It was the direct, deliberate result of the Trump administration’s energy policy and the implementation of what has come to be referred to as the “Donroe Doctrine.”
For decades, Cuba survived on underpriced — sometime even free — Venezuelan crude shipped by the Nicolas Maduro regime in Venezuela. That lifeline ended abruptly in January 2026 when the Trump administration removed Maduro, seized effective control of Venezuela’s oil industry and redirected those resources toward legitimate hemispheric interests.
No more using Venezuelan oil to prop up another failed socialist dictatorship in America’s backyard.
The Trump administration followed with an effective energy blockade. An executive order imposed tariffs on any nation supplying oil to Cuba, effectively slamming the door on workarounds from Mexico and elsewhere. Cuba’s domestic production, always minimal and hampered by decades of mismanagement, couldn’t begin to fill the gap.
