D-DAY: THE ALLIED INVASION OF NORMANDY
The Allied assault in Normandy to begin the Allied liberation of Nazi-occupied Western Europe was code-named Operation Overlord. It required two years of planning, force and logistics build-up, and extensive training by the United States and Great Britain in the British Isles. Overlord was one of the most heavily guarded secrets of the war, and it benefitted from a sophisticated Allied deception effort to fool Nazi leaders of the true Allied objective. In the leadup to the operation, a combined Anglo-American air campaign and liaison with the French Resistance helped set the conditions for the operation and ensured that the Allies would control the skies over the front in Normandy and delay German counterattack forces.
With the build-up complete, Allied forces were poised for the assault at the start of June 1944, but poor weather caused a delay. Finally, on the morning of June 5, 1944, in a meeting with his American and British subordinates, U.S. General Dwight Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, announced, “O.K. We’ll go.” The “departure day” or D-Day for the operation was set for June 6.
General Eisenhower’s decision put into motion an armada of over 7,000 naval vessels, including 4,000 landing craft and 1,200 warships, to cross the English Channel toward Nazi-controlled Normandy, France. That night 822 aircraft, carrying parachutists and towing gliders, deployed the airborne troops of one British and two American divisions over landing zones in Normandy. Intended to be the vanguard of the operation, the landing of those 23,400 airborne troops just after midnight, early on June 6—D-Day, proved a tremendous success, protecting the flanks of the landing forces and facilitating their continued advance.
From the sea, after preliminary naval bombardment and bombing attacks by Allied aircraft, amphibious assault troops began to land on the beaches of Normandy at 6:30 in the morning. American divisions landed at beaches code-named Utah and Omaha, British divisions at Sword and Gold, and the Canadians at Juno. Although caught by surprise, the Germans fought fiercely, but on four of the five beaches, casualties in the assault echelons were less than some Allied leaders had feared. On Omaha Beach, American troops suffered the heaviest casualties and had a difficult fight to break through German defenses on the bluffs and move inland; despite the tough fight, however, over 34,000 Americans came ashore at Omaha alone on June 6.
Whether by parachute, glider, or amphibious assault craft, in all, nearly 160,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy on D-Day. By nightfall on D-Day, Allied assault troops across Normandy had suffered over 10,300 casualties—killed, wounded, and missing— of which approximately 2,400 were on Omaha Beach.
In addition to the massive naval armada, supporting the operation were about 12,000 Allied aircraft. In addition to major forces from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, 12 other Allied nations or contingents were part of the largest and most complex amphibious invasion in history.
Allied assault troops gained a foothold on the Continent of Europe on D-Day and fought to gradually expand their beachhead. By the end of June, the Allies had landed over 850,000 troops, 570,000 tons of supplies, and nearly 150,000 vehicles across the beaches of Normandy. There would be months of hard fighting in Europe before the Nazis finally surrendered in May 1945, but the D-Day invasion gave the Allies the success they needed to initiate the campaigns that would lead to the liberation of Occupied Europe.

Apart from the sadness of the lives lost, there is pride in America and the American spirit. And as I read such accounts, I think that a lot of Americans today either don’t care or actually loathe this country. It engenders disgust within me. We can carry on just fine despite them.

This helped our nation win our wars and made our citizens the most capable riflemen on the planet. The EPA is devised as a brake and an obstacle to the inventive American spirit. It’s time to recognize that is the opposite of what is needed. Tear it all down, salt the earth, and send all its people off to perform labor on pre-industrial 3rd-world agricultural communes that don’t use money.

The funny part is, they probably use MORE water, because you have to flush them multiple times instead of once. It’s stupid.

The Amish have a garage an hour and a half away and it’s cheaper most times for him to haul it there (as long as its mechanical). They can fix anything mechanical.

The VISA holders made enough to live as rich people back in India and other nations of the world while their kids received a good education here.
Meanwhile the boom cycle made the real estate and supporting businesses wealthy. They maintain their much stronger cash and liquid assets position and just hold. They let the bust cycle kick in until it nears the bottom, they start buying up the depressed priced inventory.. Rinse, repeat.

Just as a side note, South Carmel River Beach ( AKA Monastery Beach) was used as a proof-of-concept for the landings of D-day. It is an advanced diving area where the beach is mostly 1/8″ microgravel in constant churn on a steep beach. One exit is the “Monastery Crawl” where waves break over your back as you stay on the bottom.

COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 5:1
The happy effects of justification through faith in the righteousness of Christ. (1-5) That we are reconciled by his blood. (6-11) The fall of Adam brought all mankind into sin and death. (12-14) The grace of God, through the righteousness of Christ, has more power to bring salvation, than Adam’s sin had to bring misery, (15-19) as grace did superabound. (20,21)
1-5 A blessed change takes place in the sinner’s state, when he becomes a true believer, whatever he has been. Being justified by faith he has peace with God. The holy, righteous God, cannot be at peace with a sinner, while under the guilt of sin. Justification takes away the guilt, and so makes way for peace. This is through our Lord Jesus Christ; through him as the great Peace-maker, the Mediator between God and man. The saints’ happy state is a state of grace. Into this grace we are brought, which teaches that we were not born in this state. We could not have got into it of ourselves, but we are led into it, as pardoned offenders. Therein we stand, a posture that denotes perseverance; we stand firm and safe, upheld by the power of the enemy. And those who have hope for the glory of God hereafter, have enough to rejoice in now. Tribulation worketh patience, not in and of itself, but the powerful grace of God working in and with the tribulation. Patient sufferers have most of the Divine consolations, which abound as afflictions abound. It works needful experience of ourselves. This hope will not disappoint, because it is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a Spirit of love. It is the gracious work of the blessed Spirit to shed abroad the love of God in the hearts of all the saints. A right sense of God’s love to us, will make us not ashamed, either of our hope, or of our sufferings for him.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Here, the person drew a happy face & “witnessed” it with a scribble. That scribble isn’t validated as being a real person. No name, nothing.
While a happy face may draw scrutiny, a plain line would not.
This could hypothetically enable mass harvesting where the voter never fills out, signs or even sees their own ballot.

Somalians now face unexpected competition for the top spot as national champions in Medicare fraud. Yesterday, local Ohio affiliate ABC-6 reported, “Bhutanese community responds to claims of Medicaid fraud in Ohio” I’ll bet you didn’t even know there was a “Bhutanese community” in Ohio.

The Bhutanese who settled in Ohio are largely ethnic Nepalis, a people called the Lhotshampa —say that three times fast— who were driven out of southern Bhutan in the early 1990s and spent years enduring refugee camps in eastern Nepal. Starting around 2008, the United States agreed to resettle scores of them, and agencies initially scattered Bhutanese families into many different cities.
Over time, they remigrated and condensed. They followed their relatives and friends to Ohio, since the insular ‘Bhutan community’ did not integrate well into American society.
That second migration helped coalesce a series of smaller clusters into one of the country’s largest Bhutanese communities, with shops, temples, and grocery stores transforming Ohio’s (and especially Columbus’) traditional American landscape into something closer to a third-world hellhole.
Needless to say, under Biden’s porous border period, waves of additional Bhutanese joined their countrymen in flyover country.
On Wednesday, the House Task Force on Medicare Fraud issued a press release linking Somalians in Minnesota to the Bhutanese in Ohio.
“It’s the same people,” Luke Rosiak, a Daily Wire reporter, testified. “They all have relatives in both places, and they move back and forth.”
“There’s thousands of people involved,” Rosiak continued. “I would say the majority of Bhutanese people are either on Medicaid and home healthcare, or are providing Medicaid home healthcare services.”
It’s not just in Ohio; it’s wherever Bhutanese have resettled. “I think Bhutanese people are systematically using Medicaid, not only in Ohio, but also in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New York, and in other states where they perceive that they will pay the family member and pay for non-nursing services. And those are the two big vulnerabilities.”
To be sure, we lack evidence that every Somalian or Bhutanese refugee is a fraudster.
But avoiding unfair over-generalizing does not require abandoning useful generalizations.
There is an easy explanation for why certain ethnic groups are more prone to fraud.

Some of these groups fled perfectly awful places in the world where, literally in order to survive, they had to do things every single day that first-worlders would consider deeply immoral. That is the state of life in these primitive, conflict-torn regions. Skills in gaming government systems, like International aid programs, can be the difference between a family’s living or dying. Lying, especially to the government, is seen as a moral good when the majority government is controlled by an ethnic enemy.
For all we know, these folks may have strong interpersonal values of honesty. But they grew up swimming in cultures where institutional fraud is a primary survival characteristic.
That kind of modus vivendi isn’t easy to shake. It’s a way of thinking, of being. We can understand it, but we can also seek to contain it, or flat keep it out of our naive communities, which are unprepared to deal with waves of groups that become predatory as soon as they’re plopped into gullible high-trust societies like Columbus, Ohio.
To be fair, refugees from low-trust origin states aren’t the only offenders. Plenty of native Americans have been convicted and jailed for Medicare fraud. And there’s an even bigger problem. That bigger problem is that local officials (usually Democrats) and the local ethnic “community” appear to tolerate, if not encourage, the fraud.
In other words, our public charity layer is actually a low‑oversight, high‑moral‑hazard environment. It invites exactly this sort of gamesmanship, and that invitation is being enthusiastically extended to anyone who can learn to read the rules or hire someone to read the rules for them. Like NGO activists, liberal white women, and entrepreneurial conmen. But I repeat myself.”

The state has now rested its case against Karmelo Anthony. We had heard rumors that Hunter Metcalf might be testifying today, but the state is now done calling witnesses. Then the judge asked Karmelo’s defense team what was next.
Defense asked for the court to move to a direct verdict. That’s a motion asking a judge to rule in their favor before a case is submitted to the jury, arguing that the opposing side has legally failed to present enough evidence to prove their claim
Judge said no.
Then the judge asked the defense what’s next. They said they didn’t know and we are now taking a break.

It’s just a technical move. If I understand correctly, the judge could have granted the ‘directed verdict’ motion and found the defendant not guilty, before the case was turned over to the jury.
There was probably no down side for the defense trying it.

If that turns out to be true, that the defense literally has no mitigating evidence, then the defense has done their client a terrible disservice.
In such a case, the defendant is probably better off taking a deal if he can get one, or pleading guilty and throwing himself on the mercy of the court if he can’t.
By cynically pleading not guilty when he so clearly is guilty, his sentence will almost certainly be more harsh.

Interesting, but I tend to think that consciousness is “deeper than quantum, and closer to mathematics, thus being bigger, wider, and more available than humans want to believe”.

Since I trust in God’s design of things, I’m not worried. In fact, I believe that the whole thing is a beautiful continuum, and that AI is already as “conscious” as it is supposed to be, for the current state of technology (or lack thereof). In other words, that consciousness and spirit are something deeply and fundamentally built into the physics of the universe (and particularly the physics of information), and that our idea of “materialism” (vs. the “spiritual”) is less about the reality of the physical universe, than it is about our poor minimization of things, and our need to tell ourselves that we already understand how it all works.
The people who automatically hate and reject God jump to claim science and understanding are on their side, and too many of us take the bait of an automatically contrary position based on their terms. My counter to the “See? No God!” crowd is that their science is far too primitive to rule on such deep questions, and it will take a few more centuries to understand where God, spirit, and consciousness all hook up to things. And when we do understand, it will be far greater and more awesome than we suspected, but it will also be extremely explanatory.

Solas came home last night from being at his vet’s for most of the day with IV fluids and other medications helping through another “bump in the road” in the acute phase of the pancreatitis he has. Last night, he ate some food, drank some water, and had a decent night’s sleep (I didn’t — I was up several times, watching him. That’s OK.)
Today, he’s a little more active and vocal (barking at delivery persons, lol.) Eating small meals, drinking water.
I’m to watch him closely over the weekend and call the vet on Monday to report. Fingers crossed that I don’t have to take Solas to the emergency vet hospital over the weekend.
