A total aside:
That 1964 half dollar was in such demand due to JFK’s recent tragic end, that it was simply impossible to get it to circulate. People would save them when they got them. Then, of course came the end of silver coinage over the next couple of years (they basically continued to make 1964 dated coins well into 1966, until they depleted their stockpile of silver, at the same time other machines were stamping out clad/sandwich 1965 and 1966 coins), which added to its desirability.
Today they’re quite common (because so many were made with that date) but because they contain 90 percent silver, you have to buy them from a coin shop (or be very lucky). You’ll get an uncirculated (or nearly so) coin for not much more than the silver in it is worth.
Half dollars continued to contain some silver (40% instead of 90%) through 1970, and people would save those as well. That pair of circumstances led to the end of circulating half dollars in those parts of the country (the West, mostly) where they still did circulate. For years afterwards, even the post-1970 dates that had no silver in them at all were snapped up by people who thought they still contained silver.
The US mint still makes half dollars but I believe it’s only for collector sets now.

It looks a lot like what the mint gins up on its website, and I suspect (having tried to photograph bright shiny new coins) that it’s really a CGI image. It’s too perfect and there are NO lighting issues with it. The one you posted, you can see some slight scuffing and the color is a little bit funky, meaning either the coin has started to tone OR someone photographed it in the wrong light–basically, its a real photograph of a coin.

I got banned from CTH shortly after it happened, and while a stupid ban is nothing in the grand scheme of things, “losing” one of my favorite websites when I desperately needed the distraction felt like another kick to the crotch. Just one freaking thing after another, right? So I was genuinely grateful when I found this place because at least I was able to “fix” one thing that went wrong this month.

Sadie, sudden loss and grief have been my companions for several years now so my heart truly goes out to you. My losses changed me forever. I’ve had to accept I’ll never be the same person I was. It is a good read and defends PDJT’s talking about “Obama jugdges” and he also questions why Roberts was silent all through the Obama years, but now he feels he has to stick his neck out? Most peculiar and unwelcome.
But I particularly want to call your attention to the last little bit here right at the end, FTA:

This made my Q-dar start to ping. Joe is smart, savvy, and in the confidence of PDJT. Joe obviously knows something. There is a potential positive view here – if the HAMMER is going to drop with indictments – Then you want no speculation about Trump judges or Ozero judges.

We end up once again with a 4-5 court, with Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh, and Gorsuch on our side…and Roberts liable to join the other side just to spite the President.
Why do I get this feeling like Trump could nominate seven justices and we’d still be looking at 4-5??
I hope not. I just believe there is something wrong with Roberts. I tend to believe that he is compromised, but I don’t know that for sure. I have so much more confidence in PDJT’s selection/vetting process for SCOTUS than anyone before him that I feel hopeful for the future.
Before PDJT, Republicans relied on the good ol’ boy club for SCOTUS referrals and look how that worked out for us. Spit. So we’re doing much better.
But of course, we don’t have a lot of defense against people like SCOTUS justices who are blackmailed. That’s serious. If Roberts had any honor he’d resign.
There was a peculiar eye contact between O & R when R was swearing in O, that immediately turned my stomach. R had an impish, “cute” grin on his mug. It was like a flirt look. Don’t know if it was because he flubbed the swearing in or what, but I immediately felt it spelled trouble.
DH knew R’s father and was real happy about R’s confirmation so I was also, until that look on R’s face. Wish I knew how to find that video.
Don’t worry – your last statement is SPOT-ON about eternal 4-5, but the court will be better. Trump understands the inscrutable SCOTUS more deeply than most people realize. He knows that he can pack it with conservatives and it will gain overall conservatism, but always return to 4-ish versus 5-ish as they try to form a “balancing scale of justice”.
Roberts and all the others know they have to depoliticize these commie-infiltrated institutions, and that means SCOTUS will look a lot less like “number-versus-number” and become harder to figure out. SCOTUS automatically tries to balance itself to see all sides of the thornier issues, but when it really is functioning properly, it becomes less visibly split.
Gorsuch got that from the beginning, and so did Trump. Trump was so proud of his Gorsuch nomination, as Gorsuch actually argued with him and even dissed him during the process. Only real mensch do that – they both KNEW Trump was doing the right thing. Nominate the best person, not the person who says nice things about you. Trump showed his amazing excellence right there, BOOM! Gorsuch, too.
I think Trump wins here. Roberts knows Trump is right, and he is TRYING to get rid of the idea of Obama judges, but Trump is correct – “Obama judges” are real, and will be a thorn in the side of justice for YEARS. Some of them are hidden Soviets (international socialists), I’m sure. They are a PROBLEM and Roberts knows it, even as he tries to deny it.
Best description I ever saw of Roberts was a squish. Not necessarily a terrible thing, but we need more REAL conservatives on the court to “play centrist and libertarian” as balance liberals. That will keep Roberts in line if he becomes Sotomayor Jr. 😉

It is now. It will probably be fine. I went to the hippie store to buy a fresh organic grass fed cage free joyous happy and free turkey breast, but they were sold out so I got a frozen one. For what I paid for it I could have gone to the Grocery Outlet and bought a Butterball turkey raised on hormones and antibiotics and infused with perfectly yummy tasting chemicals and a pop up thermometer that was three times the size. And it would have tasted delicious. But no, I had to try and be all healthy and stuff. Grr…

Note that I have not watched this yet – just saying this after a couple of days of looking at the videos out there, especially Ace’s “key” video. THAT was the one that made me see it.
I never in my life expected to be a convert to this stufff, but once the videographic hoaxes are explained in scientific detail, and the LIARS lie or accidentally tell the truth and are caught on camera, TIME itself undoes the whole thing. Love Peter Jennings blowing it wide open. THAT is classic. That undoes ALL of it.
I could not have seen this if Trump had not undone the psychological programming, but once you see how it worked, there is no going back. The SAME NYC media XXXXERS who conspired with deep state CREEPS in the case I know about are at work here, I am certain. They were “doing it for our good” in both cases. THAT is the signature.
There are still a lot of places where I have to say I don’t know what the plotters did, and I just have to leave those plot holes for now, but the videographer lies match up perfectly not only with all the media lies I’ve known about over the years, but it matches up with what I personally know about a case which has NOT been in the public eye.

Mark Steyn was filling in for Tucker tonight. I caught part of a segment he did with Kris Kobach, who sadly wasn’t elected Governor of Kansas, and they were talking about the border problem.
I guess Kristin Nielsen has had our folks embedded with the caravan so we’re getting some intel that’s useful. If I heard this part correctly they think there are at least one thousand who are threatening to rush the border. According to Kobach, there is a provision in a bill Congress passed in 1995 or 1996 that would allow for Homeland Security or ICE or Border Patrol to deputize existing law enforcement. He thinks the federal government needs to put out a call now for deputies from all states to report to the border because we’re going to need all hands on deck.
NO! We already have a war on cops, thanks to Jugears. We do not need to thin out our street level cop forces because that will tempt the less-than-courageous thugs to act out. We need what DJT just did – empower the military to jump into any fighting with border patrol officers. Right as a four day weekend began. This man’s timing sense is amazing.

It’s not a violation of Posse Comitatus if the troops are defending out border.
Posse Comitatus, I believe, prohibits the Military from engaging in law enforcement within the country…against US citizens.
Defending our borders is certainly within the mission of our Armed Services.
I am hoping they have rounded up as many LRAD and ADS units as we have, and moved them down along the border for our BP and troops to use.
LRAD and ADS are non-lethal systems of crowd control…and to repel an oncoming group of hostiles.
LRAD uses sound waves.
ADS uses microwaves to synthesize the sensation of heat on the skin.

no disrespect to the immensely vital times we are living in as i read some posts on this page and remind myself what i am about to paste in will probably be regretted in about 5 minutes, but i have to lighten up a little…
this will sound corny as heck, but here goes:
i had a conversation with someone two nights ago that referenced in one part the movie “heidi”, shirly Temple version. there was a specific visual needed from that film which is how it was brought up in the first place.
tonight i was just doing some work and decided to get a screenshot from the film to send to the individual i was conversing with, so i did some image searches, etc. finally looked up on the video site there, and i start watching it.
Just To Clarify: This has nothing to do with the treatment of child actors of the early days in hollywood. has nothing to do with the real life persons involved. has nothing to do with rumor, speculation, gossip of any form surrounding shirly temple whatsoever at any time in her life. she just happens to to star in these movies and i was exposed to her collection as a kid as “approved” content to ingest from a television. and truth be told i am glad because i really enjoy them – and mostly for what will follow.
now if anyone knows about shirly temple movies there is almost certainly a very well meant hard life lesson to be learned. none of the lessons are learned easily or without, at times, sheer mental agony and intense soul searching. the movies, seem to also generally follow a basic outline:
a beginning intro where we are introduced to the great positive spirit even if she was just orphaned, that smile and determination is there wish a touch of rebellious and rightly so sassy attitude which you learn helps inform our heroine of the intentions of those around her, and the restraint to which she should temper her spunk with well placed ambition.
a middle portion of the movie emerges after the first part concludes and you are pretty much introduced to the working model of who this free spirited, adversity overcoming, red white and blue loving example of what we all should be knowing what we know now yet with the honest appraisal of bull shit and the invincibility of a child who has not been shown yet how dangerous our “lives” can be…opportunity arises in this middle part, optimism grows, good times are had again, i mean, songs are sung and dances are danced and acts of great compassion and understanding are done to help others because this spirit has such a heart and burden for others that it must share it’s wealth and good fortune that it worked so hard to get. playing adversaries off each other, negotiating the deal, sometimes just loving someone so much their outer shell just falls off…
then the inevitable – almost, not all of them are super high drama, but for the purposes of this writing – an intense crescendo. the can include such lead in moments like her lost father walking past an elevator seconds before she comes out and walks the other way, or true allys are taken down or removed moments before spine tingling moments of terror and battle between good and evil. i have even seen an organ grinder and a monkey with peanuts playing a huge role in these movies. but regardless, the happening happens…
and then the coda i guess. the fight has been fought, you almost always feel like the best scenario happened, even with some loss the greater understanding is that the good and unbeatable determination of this spirit, and a positive outlook, and a very keen suspicious understanding of those around you especially those in places of authority can be enlightening in many ways…and they, many times, they live happily ever after.
ok, i know this sounds strange already, but honestly, watch 10 movies and see if this is not played out call me out. i will admit that this was all a hoax to get you to watch shirly temple on someone’s youtbe channel to funnel money to the needy refugee children.
i am not going to go through this scene by scene, but i will describe the characters and the people/institutions i perceive them to be playing. this is really only for fun but since it came up in a conversation i had regarding current events, and then i watched it with those events in mind, and putting the principle of the above in play. so if you totally disagree, that’s fine because you will have watched a classic tale of the human spirit. (and like i said, these were part of my childhood so i have a soft spot)

clara: the spirit of the american people that is sick. it has been strong before but can’t remember or dare to try to go to far. in it’s heart it wants to do right. it wants to get better. it wants to be the best. it knows that there is danger and is at times very self preserving at the expense of others our a desperation to be free.
Father of Clara: caretaker of the american spirit. he is good natured and when called on and needed he will fight with all he has for you. but he has many responsibilities and he is so busy with his tasks he needs some helpers to make sure his household is in order.
Fraulein: the deep state. enough said.
Andrews: an inside source sympathetic to achieving the goal of MAGA and a true friend to the american spirit as he has been watching over her in lieu of it’s father (the true spirit of the republic) and battling the deep state when he can, and alerting others when he cannot.
the deep state have a plan to keep that american spirit sick. they do not want to lose their cushy life and will destroy and cut whenever they can to the bitter end.
freedom has the light rekindled when MAGA goes to the town…MAGA helps the spirit heal…the deep state fights back…freedom comes to town to embrace and once again defend the MAGA spirit that he knows is pure and true…deep state wants this final battle to end with freedom destroyed and lost at every juncture and it almost succeeds…
when you are comparing current events and MAGA to a movie from 1937 you might just be seeing it in everything 🙂

You all are so amusing. I was just thinking and looking at CTH and I think there are more ads thatn before, and I wonder if some of us with ad blockers can’t post due to those blockers. I can’t turn mine off, because if I do, reading articles many places becomes impossible, so I can’t test my theory. What do you all think?

The more I think about it, the more I am thinking it’s a combination of factors.
The assholes seem to be gone. There were quite a number of names that were missing over there today. Surely some of them would comment today, it’s what they get off on. They (and the indignant responses to them) accounted for hundreds of posts.
People who were invited to leave because of Sessions and/or Q would account for more hundreds of posts.
