It’s a closeup with no surrounding points of interest…which leaves it up to one’s imagination, as to what we are looking at.
In the upper left hand corner, we are given a glimpse of a golden area…which resembles sandstone.
This is an indication that we could be looking at a sandstone formation.

Their parents worked there…and even their grandparents, in some cases.

It doesn’t affect them.
Their jobs are ‘recession proof’.

Govt jobs…especially bureaucrat jobs…should not be recession proof!
When the Govt does things that Kills Jobs in the private sector, there should be permanent layoffs in the govt sector too!
Govt Jobs are revenue negative anyway.
So getting rid of excess govt jobs is a plus for taxpayers.
A govt worker might say…
“But we pay taxes too, so you can’t say our jobs are revenue negative!”
To which I would answer…
“Your job is paid for with taxes from the private sector. So all you are paying in taxes is just Recycled Taxpayer Funds!”

When Pres Trump announced last year that he was having Mick Mulvaney work on “completely restructuring the fed govt”…I was thrilled and hopeful that it would mean reducing the size.
I think that the Trump Team was working all along and planning for the eventuality that there would be a ‘shutdown’ over the budget.
Our VSG knew that Congress was going to fight him over any attempts at reducing spending and balancing the budget.
Giving him funding for the wall was yet another thing that he probably anticipated a fight over.
This is why they already had a plan to make this shutdown as painless as possible for us taxpayers.

A little known secret about the government was how they figured out a way to keep Blacks on the plantation, happy and voting for them. It meant expanding the bureaucracy, which we’ve seen for decades.
They also gave over whole agencies/dept. to this same train of thought, one of those agencies being the post office.
If you’ll notice almost all low to mid level employees at most federal agencies are almost all Black – consider your local DMV.
It long puzzled me why I didn’t see diversity, a mixture of people at my local government offices, and what the friend explained… well, I think it’s true. Even my local public health department – in an area where we have about 80% White, Latino and 20% Black, all of the employees, including nurses are Black. This is not explained by natural job processing…
But it does ensure a certain base constituency never stops voting for Democrats.

New processes can slim down the need for transfers too, reducing overall employee load.

So far, the only concrete step Ocasio-Cortez describes to enact the Green New Deal is the formation of a House select committee to formulate specific goals. On the environmental side, these would include, among other things, expanding renewable-energy sources until they provide 100 percent of the nation’s power; building an energy-efficient “smart grid;” upgrading every residence and industrial building in the U.S. for energy efficiency, comfort, and safety; eliminating greenhouse-gas emissions for industry and agriculture; funding “massive” investments to draw down greenhouse-gas levels; and making the United States a leader in the use and export of green technology.
To these ambitious goals, Ocasio-Cortez adds a long list of social objectives: providing training and education for the energy transition, including “job guarantees at a living wage for everyone who wants one”; diversifying the economies of regions dependent on fossil-fuel extraction; helping communities most affected by pollution; protecting the “sovereign rights of tribal nations”; mitigating racial, regional, and gender-based inequalities; developing universal health-care and income-support programs; and ensuring that organized labor has a major role in all these efforts.
Achieving even a small portion of this to-do list would have enormous costs. At last count, there were some 136 million housing units in the United States. Upgrading each unit to high standards of energy efficiency would cost, conservatively, at least $10,000 per home, adding up to a total cost of $1.3 trillion. Doing the same for industrial structures would easily exceed that amount. The single-payer health-care part would cost another $3 trillion or more, annually. Stabilizing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would add another $1 trillion to $2 trillion to the price tag—and all these still only account for three items on AOC’s list.
To be fair to Ocasio-Cortez, she does not downplay the costs. She did, after all, draw a parallel to World War II. She has also acknowledged that a 70 percent marginal tax rate would increase annual federal receipts by only about $225 billion—far short of what would be needed. For the rest of the cost, she would rely on debt, “printing money,” and government willingness to take an equity stake in some of the enterprises involved.
AOC’s proposals to expand government ownership and take on more debt didn’t cause much of a media stir. What did get attention was her suggestion to raise taxes on the wealthy—in part because Krugman has taken up the fight on her behalf. …

Convos among those in the same discipline are hilarious. One time, we were expanding our 3car garage to make it a lux suite above and dreamy man cave/game room below.
I wanted herringbone brick patterned flooring and I wanted to keep the wooden slat ceiling. Rough, rugged, and manly and frame pics of all the men in the family – doing manly things.
But then, the guys took over – which was unexpected and the BEST thing possible.
I had 2 Civil Engineers, 4 architects, one landscape architect, 3 Corps of Engineers guys, and 3 Construction company owners, all laying the brick pavers = lots of beer and bourbon.
And they kept adding things to the game room, the bar and pool table are spectacular. The place is their gorgeous little club house and I gave them all keys.
We love our men.

IIRC, I do believe then-candidate Trump talked about wanting to shrink the size of government. He also reiterated his goal, as POTUS, in one of his meetings.

Yeah, that means that contractors are SOL, but with a growing job market, there will be other options (especially considering that some contractors only took contracting jobs due to limited options).

Assuming the average “non-essential” persons are earning $100K per year, and expenses, per diem, healthcare, incidentals, etc., etc. add up to around the same amount (considering they’re gubmint, and get bennies we proles don’t see), making $200K per capita. Then assume (OK, makes an a$$ out of you and me)(not) that Botox Betty’s figure of 800K Federal Employees and contractors, etc., are considered “non-essential”.
Multiplying that out gives a potential savings of $160 Billion.
Of course the hue and cry from the congress-critter gallery will be deafening, and the newly-unemployed will also be less than happy (and certainly more than happy to vote for any and every DEMONcRAT; but they already do).
To counter this, VSGPDJT only needs to say that these folks were considered non-essential, and, as such (just like in the REAL WORLD™) would be the first to go when times or needs dictate. I’ve seen similar cullings done over the last 45 years in the biz world, many of them with FAR less justification than this.

The Federal government has owned most of the Western US, basically forever. There was even a “sagebrush rebellion” in the 1980s (no shots fired, but lots of talk in some state legislatures).
The “landgrabs” people talk about are simply transferring land from BLM or the Forest Service to the Park Service as national monuents–which puts them off limits to any sort of agricultural/mining/forestry use. But the government owned the land before the landgrab as well as after.

I don’t own that land, not even in part, and never did. What happened was the owner stopped leasing it to certain people.
The real problem is federal ownership of the land, period, so yes, the transfer IS just a bookkeeping deal. As long as someone else owns the land we have as much right to it as any tenant has to get his lease renewed, i.e., zero. It’s a privilege.
Ranchers, loggers, miners should be allowed to purchase the land outright and that will end all the quibbling.
But even that aside, Klinton did a lot of these so-called land grabs too, so even that wasn’t mostly Soetoro’s doing.

In other words, the original intent excluded the federal government of hoarding excessive amounts of undeveloped US land for itself!

IMHO the toilet questions ARE in fact unconstitutional, but the citizenship status isn’t and shouldn’t be.
I’d add one more caveat. There’s a tendency to forget the legally-resident, non-US citizen, the green card holder. Though he shouldn’t be allowed to vote (of course), he shouldn’t be lumped in with illegal aliens as we sometimes tend to do. But I think there should be a question about that, so that we don’t just have “citizen”/”non-citizen” numbers but “citizen”/”legal resident”/”illegal alien” numbers–finer granularity.
Remember the fuss being made about states giving licenses to non-Citizens? People got outraged for two reasons: 1) In some states you’re automatically registered to vote when you get your driver’s license, unless you admit you’re not a citizen. 2) Why give a driver’s license–or anything but a size 12 boot up the ass–to an illegal alien?
But what’s missing from that is that states SHOULD give licenses to registered aliens, who are not US citizens, so using “giving licenses to non-Citizens” tars a lot of perfectly OK people with the illegal alien brush. The REAL complaints should have been “Giving licenses to illegal aliens” and “registering non-citizens to vote automatically” Trying to shorthand the two under “giving licenses to non-citizens” simply gives people a rationale for assuming you hate ALL immigrants.
That legal resident/illegal alien distinction is as important in its own way as citizen/non-citizen, and ought to be kept in mind.

When I’ve worked in other countries, I had a temp driver’s license but it was always a piece of paper nothing permanent.
THOSE citizens, including the H1B of Silicon Valley and NYC, plus academia, should NOT be counted as permanent citizens.
Again, the left wants to obscure the REAL number of illegals or non-citizens.
I wonder what document you would have had if you had learned to drive while over there?
States should be able to issue a non-citizen a driver’s license. That’s OK–as long as that non-citizen is here legally ****and**** they aren’t registered to vote automatically when they get the license! I’d even go so far as to require some sort of mark on the license that means “legal resident, not a citizen.”
Better to run with the old numbers if they can’t ask a simple question.

I don’t like to be alarmist. Painting too grim a picture can be harmful to those who already are struggling–if it causes them to give up all hope. (If interested, search on White Zones in France for a start.)
It always helps to have a side serving of hope with every difficult serving of bad news. So in this case the good news is that the story is finally getting coverage at all. The first step has to be awareness.
The scientists that “get it” have been working with some who have been affected that also have a tech background to try to work out some solutions. There are ways to provide decent connectivity without the level of radiation 5G is currently designed for.
Another thing to keep in mind: once people start understanding what kind of risk our national policies (especially that 1994 telecom act) have placed us in, there will be some anger. So far no one is trashing cell installations the way the yellow jackets in France are trashing the speeding ticket cameras, but I believe it could happen.
For now, politicians still don’t want to know there is a problem. Big Telecom lines their pockets even better than Big Pharma does. (The suppression of normal immune function creates more business for Big Medicine too.)
