20200325: CoronaCRISIS/China Crisis Daily Thread + Dear Congress, Please Get Your Act Together

For the time being, given our national emergency, we are switching to DAILY COVID-19/China Virus threads instead of weekly threads. Your comments and updates are most welcome. PLEASE continue to post your valuable information, hard source links, and local observations within these Daily Threads. Additionally, we will try to include links to government and official pressers, so those who no longer have cable can remain informed.

We’ll get through this crisis, together. As a group, there is probably no one better prepared than we are.

For our newcomers: The Q Tree community has been diligent in covering the threat of Coronavirus, COVID19, Wuhan FLU. We started accumulating information about this virus in mid-late January, in what became almost weekly threads. We’ve been weeks, if not months, ahead of MSM outlets to vet rumors and other medical papers, etc.

Primary Update Links:

In our past weekly threads, we assembled information on the following:

  • Primary update links. The dashboard from Johns Hopkins which counts “official” cases all over the world, the CDC, and WHO, and includes the links for our past threads.
  • Hard Data Medical Information- Explanation about testing, reliance on China for drugs, analysis of NE Journal of Medicine results and other published papers.
  • Vaccine and theraputics (new/old drugs to alleviate symptoms) news and updates
  • Trump Administration response (the timeline and links to various agencies)
  • China Responses, timelines, research, attempt to cover actions, or secrecy in results discovered.
  • An aggregate of info/responses from other countries, listed by country.
  • Economic impact from around the world. A change in economic activity will indicate a “return to normal”.
  • Speculation/debunking on how the virus started
  • Media Bias, political response, and debunking section, like the article from AP News, overt bias from Politico, inflammatory headlines, etc.
  • Other medical info to boost immune system, herbal remedies, ways to keep your house clean and NOT spread the virus to others. Excellent information to incorporate into daily lifestyle.
  • Hard links for OTHER valuable sources/blogs and a brief sentence or two about what they provide
  • Other news items

Our weekly updates. timelines, collection of valuable information, can be found here:

Please try to keep your sense of humor during this National Emergency, and remember, patience is a virtue.

Love to all!

For the Dems, it’s “The Enemy of My Enemy…….”

All of the local news media is really pushing the chloroquine hitpieces. I’m not sure why this surprises me after all of these years of watching them try to tear apart this country, but this is a new low.

LM

Wondering how many doctors in NY are using hydroxchloroquine compared to rest of the country.
What are the comparative mortality rates when it is used. By now there should be data.
I know they ae busy, but the medical community needs to step up and speak out in support of the President on this.
Interesting comment from OT….

Given the current situation it is very informative to separate the data in New York State from the rest of the U.S.
Total Tested positive (%) Hospitalized Deaths
NY 103,479 30,811 (29.8%) 3,805 (12.3%) 285(0.93%)
US-NY 315,331 32,862 (7.1%) 2331 (7.1%) 602 (1.83%)
All US 418,810 63.675 (15.2%) 6136 (9.6%) 887 (1.39%)
The positive infection rate in NY is more than 4 times the rate in the rest of the US (29.8% compared to 7.1%) and the hospitalization rate if infected is about 1.7 times higher in NY (12.3% compared to 7.1%). Both of these numbers indicate that NY is testing a much higher proportion of highly symptomatic subjects. It is misleading to imply that these numbers are largely due to higher transmission rates in NY, although that may contribute to it.
However, the death rate in NY is half the death rate in the rest of the US (0.93% compared to 1.83%). Think of that. Due to testing procedures, there are proportionally more serious cases identified in NY than the rest of the country, yet the mortality rate is half. This is a strong indicator that the treatment is more effective when hospitalized in NY. This may be due to more research hospitals in NY with more use of hydroxychloroquine and other effective but not approved treatments. This indicates that COVID-19 is very treatable with the mortality rate cut in half in NY. In addition, both mortality rates will continue to go down with more testing. The NY data has some encouraging news and begs the question, why continue to close a vital city due to a 0.93% mortality rate and viable treatment options for severe cases.

Supposedly the big push to use the stuff began yesterday.
From some of the stories I heard, results should have been visible TODAY if that were true.
Yet we have heard nothing. That could be for many different reasons; but I’d hope to hear something by tomorrow.

LM

I found this…
https://forward.com/news/national/442285/coronavirus-hydroxychloroquine-trump-doctor/
Thought I slso read that Cuomo was receptive to using it.

SteveInCO

Well, yes. He was planning to start yesterday. That’s the “big push” I was referring to; I suppose I should have been more clear.
We’ve been seeing, again and again the story of this specific doctor (Zelenko), and a guy who turned around in a day when he got his docs to give it to him, and one other report.
I want to see what happens as a result of Cuomo’s directive.

LM

Me, too. I know that certain doctors have been using it.even in Washington State (according to the Swedish Dr. on the video posted earlier on on one of these threads). Their mortality rate may have been positively impacted since they have been doing better.
Found this, dated yesterday.

From the article:
New York state secured 70,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine as well as other related drugs on Sunday, and was set to begin trials on Tuesday

kea

BB had an article where NY said they had so many because they are “so welcoming to people”

bakocarl

Yeah. New Yorkers, that is NY City people, have a long and well-known reputation for being so charming and patient and polite . . . never demanding or pushy or insulting . . . just warm and wonderful people to be around . . . almost without exception!!!

Wolf Moon

Is the now becoming “Cuomo Hero Theater”?

LM

That would be truly regrettable since he is not only responsible for importing the virus into the state, not ordering the necessary medical equipment (respirators) to handle emergencies, and was late in the game on ordering emergency orders to slow the spread until the President made an issue of it.
Hammering these things home as much as we can might be a small thing we can do.

Wolf Moon

Yup. Oh, yeah, he don’t got a chance in hell as long as the TRUTH is there to set us free!

I can think of a few reasons off the top of my head that NY might be showing different patterns than the rest of the US.
IF this was some type of bio-weapon, the NY area may have received a different strain. Even if not a weapon, per se, the viral mutations would likely be different in different locations, some may be more contagious but less deadly perhaps.
The main source of the NY cases is likely different from those in WA, where that one nursing home had a Very High death rate too.
NY has a very large Jewish population & at least one article mentioned travelers returning from Christmas travel overseas. This would also imply Hannukah travel, perhaps to Israel where there is also a CCPVirus problem, I believe, also a potential source for a different CV strain.
Continuing with the NY Jewish theme, if many of these people were Hasidic or Orthodox or Conservative Jews (I’m speaking as a Gentile very loosely & meaning Zero Perjoratives) it could also mean a much more insular community that is spreading the CV infection pretty far within itself. Also, I believe some of those faith viewpoints have way more children than id typical in the NYC area. This could also mean that many may test Positive for CV but have minimal symptoms. Are they widely testing the family/close contacts of those severely ill w/CV?
If the Jewish connection is borne out there could perhaps be dietary or environmental influences that change the nature of how CV reacts w/ the body for that population compared to other Americans. What if they use a form of incense in worship, or even candle wax aerosolized &/or smoke that has some CV killing benefit–like the propylene glycol or MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceroid–we used to have to use this along w/ Portagen, & Moducal to feed our post heart-surgery baby who could no longer medically tolerate breast milk…& MCT oil was $60/qt in the mid ’90s!) oil another Q-Treeper mentioned elsewhere.
Anyway that’s just a sample of how things Might be different in the NYC area than much of the US.
Oh, & obviously any city w/ very dense human population & lots of public transportation is going to likely more widely spread any contagion it would seem.

churchmouse

Your last paragraph nailed it.
Across the pond, London is our epicentre for that same reason. Birmingham (our second largest city) has the next biggest concentration of coronavirus cases.

So the grocery store had a little more food today. Limits on everything. By Aldi it was one person per check out line. Had to wait for your turn.
Meat mostly gone and no TP but at least they had more food than last time.
Not that many people out and about. Saw a few more gloves.
One lady had on two masks?
One person kept her shirt over her nose and mouth? Ok!?!?

Pretty pissed about all this right now. Third glass of wine is helping as I look for the bright side to this total disaster.
The reaction to this WhuFlu is a total disaster. But, it has brought out the worst in the democrat run States and cities. The impulse to suppress civil liberties to provide safety for the populace has shown everyone what they are willing to do. Reminds us of that famous quote “Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither”.
The death toll from this while bad will not be even close to the models these idiots are using. I am hoping PT starts to shut this crap down next week.
I am hoping this can be an impetus to get more blue collar dems and independents to vote for a MAGA ticket in the fall. A big dem wipeout is needed in November to put them in a hole for a couple of decades.
We are only an election or two away from going down a road that will end this republic as we know it. Short of Civil War II which no one wants it is not a place any of us wants to go. But I will for my kids.
Unhappy patriot.

bakocarl

Gee. How are they “one of the first in the world” when they administered the drug “in line with treatment regimens that have seen success in China and South Korea”?

rf121

And I read this protocol was first investigated back in 2005 during SARS and they saw the benefits. Problem for big pharma it is now a generic and there is no profit in it. Current rates on the malaria pill are like 50 cents.
Sometime in the next year they will produce a wonder drug for $XXXX against COVID type viruses.

LM

I have to say, it says a lot about people who would rather watch other people die a slow agonizing death than allow them to receive treatment that would reflect well on the President.
The country needs to see these people as they really are and what side of the aisle they occupy.

kalbokalbs

^^^ Bingo.
MCM and D-Rat rage against President Trump allows them to rationalize destroying America AND allowing Americans to needlessly suffer and die.

Linda

Anecdotal evidence, but good to hear.

churchmouse

I’m not surprised!
I cannot blame them one bit.
