On this day and every day –

God is in Control
. . . and His Grace is Sufficient, so . . .
Keep Looking Up

Hopefully, every Sunday, we can find something here that will build us up a little . . . give us a smile . . . and add some joy or peace, very much needed in all our lives.

“This day is holy to the Lord your God;
do not mourn nor weep.” . . .
“Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet,
and send portions to those
for whom nothing is prepared;
for this day is holy to our Lord.
Do not sorrow,
for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

REJOICE!!!

For most of the culture today, it appears that joy is elusive.

Turning to entertainment, impurity, drugs, sports, relationships, shopping, or whatever else – all in the hope of finding deep soul satisfaction. Perhaps it’s the confusion that joy is an emotion – a desire to find continual happiness – and thus always on the search for the next emotional high. But the only way we’re going to experience joy is when we realize the source of it is not in circumstances, situations, or emotions. The source of joy is God Himself. He is the fullness of joy.

Psalm 16:11 tells us “You [God] make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

The fullness of joy is found in the presence of God … nowhere else.

Paul tells us in Galatians that joy is a fruit of the Spirit (5:22). Joy is not something we produce or whip up – joy is something that comes as a natural outflow of having the Spirit of God residing within us. When we’re in Christ and He is in us, we find the fruit of His Spirit being produced within us.

Regardless of circumstance, situation, or trial – we can have joy within our lives because we set our gaze on Christ and declare our trust in Him, no matter what we face. It was from a prison cell that Paul commands us to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4).

Again, joy is not about emotions, feelings, circumstances, or trials – it’s about a steadfast trust in our God amidst the difficulties.

Three times Paul explicitly commands believers to rejoice.

  • Philippians 3:1a – Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. …
  • Philippians 4:4 – Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

In all three verses above, the main verb (“rejoice”) is in the present, active, imperative. An imperative is a command – so we’re commanded to “rejoice always.” The active voice tells us that we’re responsible for the action – we’re commanded to choose joy and rejoice always. And the present tense in Greek is the idea of the “ever-present tense” – in other words, this action should always happen.

So Paul commands us to choose joy every moment of our lives. We’re to rejoice regardless of circumstance, situation, or emotion.

How can we practically “rejoice always” in all situations, every moment of the day? Here are some reflections and ideas how …

We must know that God is the source of joy

True joy (and the fullness of it) comes from God alone. He is the fullness of joy as Psalm 16:11 tells us “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

You can see this idea in our passage in Philippians 4:4. The command is to rejoice “in the Lord.”  Our joy and rejoicing comes from and is found in Jesus. He is the source of all joy. And if the fullness of joy is found in His presence and He does not change (see Hebrews 13:8), then the only place we should ever seek joy is in Him.

Joy is a fruit … the natural outflow of the life of the Spirit within us

Joy is not something we produce within us, nor is it a facade or smile we put on to make people think we have joy. Joy is an evidence of the life of Christ within us.

When we’re filled with the Holy Spirit, what comes out is His “fruit” – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We don’t have to strive to replicate or produce it, it will naturally bear itself as long as we remain (abide) in Him. Just as a healthy tree doesn’t have to work, strive, or grit its teeth to produce fruit – if it’s a healthy tree, it’s guaranteed to produce fruit – because of the life within it.

We’re told in John 15, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. … Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing (John 15:1, 4-5).

The job description of the branch is not to produce fruit (that will come as a natural result of abiding) – the job description is staying/remaining/abiding in the vine. It’s only in the vine that the branch receives life. And when that branch abides (remains) in the life of the vine, it will bear fruit.

In the same way, God, through His Spirit, wants to produce (and be) the joy in our lives.

Joy will be evident in our lives when we abide in the source of life: Jesus.

Joy is not about circumstances but a purposeful response amidst the circumstances

Being joyful doesn’t mean you need to be ignorant or ignore what’s going on around you, rather it’s about having the proper perspective amidst whatever life throws at you.

Joy is the set of the sail of the soul in the wind of circumstance. Joy is living from a new heavenly perspective.

When Paul commands us to rejoice always, he’s not giving us a cute phrase that we can put upon our refrigerator – he’s writing this with a beaten back sitting in a prison cell.

Paul knew great suffering. In 2 Corinthians 11:24–28, Paul recounts his struggles by saying, “Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. And, apart from other things, there’s the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.”

Yet it same man who despite all those painful struggles, commands from a prison cell, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). Paul wasn’t ignorant of his situation or the pain he experienced, but rather determined to “leap for joy” no matter what he faced.

Jesus gave the same commission in Luke 6:22-23, “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.”

Rejoicing doesn’t have to make sense … but it does need to happen (always)

It’s encouraging that “rejoicing always” doesn’t always have to make sense. But whether joy makes sense in the situation or not, we’re still called to do it.

Because joy is not an emotion like happiness, we can rejoice even with tears in our eyes and sorrow in our soul. So whether we feel happy or sad, we’re still called to rejoice.

We must decide to rejoice in every moment – good, bad, or ugly – even if it doesn’t make sense … perhaps especially if it doesn’t make sense.

To rejoice is a command. We must obey.

There are times when we must command our minds or souls to come in alignment with truth. In the Psalms, you find that the Psalmist will do that very thing. For example in Psalm 42:11, the Psalmist asks himself, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?” Rather than live in self-reflection or the despair, he commands his soul in the second half of the verse, “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”

Regardless of how we might feel, let us choose to obey the command to rejoice always, in all circumstances.

Joy increases with the increase of pressure (suffering, trial, persecution)

Joy has an interesting quality about itself – the more pressure we experience, the more joy should be produced.

When life presses us with pain, suffering, trials, hardships, or difficulty – that added pressure should only cause our joy to leap all the higher. Can we imagine living in such a way that the harder we’re squeezed, the more joy bubbles forth? Sound crazy? Perhaps. But it describes the life of a Christian.

Joy is a present declaration in our future hope (we rejoice because we know the future)

When we rejoice, it’s our present declaration in our future hope.  If we know the end of the story, and the hope that awaits every believer, we can rejoice regardless of what happens around us.

Jesus said, “Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). When we know where we’re going, we can rejoice! What if we lived with an eternal perspective – looking at our “momentary afflictions” in light of eternity?

  • 1 Peter 4:13 – But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
  • 1 Peter 5:10 – And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
  • Romans 8:18 – For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:17 – For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
  • Hebrews 12:11 – For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
  • Hebrews 13:5b-6 – For He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Joy exposes and declares our focus and trust in God

What we rejoice in declares our focus.

When we experience God’s joy in our lives, it reveals that our focus is Jesus and that we trust in His provision and timing (even if we don’t see the results immediately).

We rejoice because we know trials and difficulty lead to maturity

When you see the end result of difficulty, you find yourself joyfully enduring it.

James tells us, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2–4).

Similarly, Paul says in Romans 5:3–4, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope …”

When we face trials and difficulty, it produces steadfastness, endurance, character, and hope. In short, trials and hardships develop maturity in our lives.

Joy is most evident (or seen more clearly) in our trials, sufferings, hardships, difficulties, and weaknesses

The best place to see if we’re rejoicing is not during times of ease. It’s easy to have joy when things go well … but joy is proven in difficulty. As pressure increases in our lives, so too our joy should expand and be seen more clearly

Paul rejoiced in his weaknesses because it was in his weakness that the power of God was made more evident (see 2 Corinthians 12:9). What if we saw trials, sufferings, hardships, difficulties, and weaknesses not as something to dread but something to rejoice in.

What the world needs now more than ever is to see believers not walking in fear or worry but rejoicing – especially with everything going on in our world.

We rejoice because we know God is King … and He has overcome the world

There is always a reason to rejoice because our God is King of kings and Lord of lords and He has overcome the world! He is the victor! He is the savior! He is King!

  • Psalm 97:1 – The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!
  • John 16:33 – I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

We rejoice because God is a God of Joy

God is a God of joy.

  • Psalm 16:11 – You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
  • Zephaniah 3:17 – The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
  • Nehemiah 8:10b – And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
  • John 15:11 – These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

God does not want us to be conformed to the pattern and image of the world (Romans 12:2), rather we are to be conformed to the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29). Since He is full of joy, so too our lives should ever be rejoicing!

Joy is to be a distinctive mark of a Christian

Is joy one of the distinctive marks in our lives?

We know Christians are supposed to be known for love (John 13:35) and Peter says that we’re to wear the clothing (the mark) of humility (1 Peter 5:5). In fact, all the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) are to be the evidence of the life of the Spirit within a believer – which means joy should be one of the “dominant themes” bearing itself out in our lives.

Paul reminds us that the Kingdom of God is one of joy (remember, He is a God of joy and His kingdom bears His nature) – “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

Let Us Rejoice Always

If joy isn’t an emotion nor based upon circumstances, then there’s every reason to “rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!”

Is that true in our lives?

Would we walk with God along His paths, in Whose presence is the fullness of joy, as He becomes our joy and bear that fruit in and through our lives?

As Isaiah wrote, “I will greatly rejoice in the LORDmy soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels” (Isaiah 61:10).

Sunday is the day when Pacific NW finally gets appropriate winter weather.

IOW the low temp is 25-35 degrees and the high is no more than 45. Next weekend it’s supposed to get down to 15 degrees and warm up to 27 degrees.

Snow? Maybe.

cthulhu

Our local weather reporter said something like, “enough of that mild post-Christmas weather — back to January.”

We might even get a freeze.

Valerie Curren

We’ve got a light dusting of snow now just today that’s covering up the grime just a bit!

Cuppa Covfefe

Quick!!!

Go out and soap it up 🙂

Cuppa Covfefe

You could always sing… that might help 😆

Catch the SF Warbonnet at the end… maybe that was part of their problem 😀

scott467

Just watching the first half minute or so, this scene is kind of creepy…

I don’t think people actually break out into song like this, not even in the 1950s.

Probably because it would be really creepy 😂

And where’s the band supposed to be coming from? Sounds like a full string section. Can’t hide something as big as a full string section in the corner of a cafe.

I’m beginning to think this whole scene looks suspicious… 😁

The scene was on a train. Have you never watched White Christmas? It’s a bit of a classic though Hubby prefers the B&W precursor, Holiday Inn.

Cuppa Covfefe

What drives me nuts is apparently the Minstrel Show number “Abraham” was cut from “Holiday Inn” because the BLM snowflakes don’t know anything about history, and think both minstrel show performers and Abraham Lincoln himself were rayyyycissssts…

Funny thing about these movies (and the Father O’Malley ones) is that they recycle some of the tunes… for example “Bells of St. Mary’s” and “Tu-Rah-Lu-Rah-LuRah” (from “Going My Way”) share the same “outline”… also, funny trivia, the fellow who played Bing’s senior pastor was actually younger than Bing 🙂

Then there’s the tie-in between Mr. Bogardis (“Bells of St. Mary’s”) and Clarence the Angel (“It’s A Wonderful Life”)… Five movies we always would watch at Christmas (that were FREE on TV) every year, along with “Miracle On 34th Street”, along with others… also “Nicholas Nickleby” would be on PBS around then, a RST masterpiece, indeed… sad, but “Cheeryble” in the end…

We have the Abraham blackface number is still on our Holiday Inn DVD…didn’t know it got cut in the TV showing…sigh…

They could just insert some type of “trigger warning” for snowflakes before & even after the scene & leave the art as is…

Cuppa Covfefe

Actually people do, musicians that is…

There were a group of us, when I was in high school, who performed in musicals not only at our schools, but at other schools and colleges and junior colleges in the area because we were (for the most part) the best around at our instruments (including voice) in the area….

We were also, at times 🙂 (OK, maybe most of the time) inveterate screwoffs…

So we were often asked to finish our meals (and “concert”) early and leave 😀

Those were the days 🙂 And most of us ended up studying music, some of us performed pro or semi-pro from then onwards, and/or teaching.

One time we were caroling at Christmas on BART (going to Ghiradelli Square, to sing there)(and have their great hot chocolate) and we had the whole train, on the TransBay tube under the SF Bay, singing Christmas Carols… Yep… that was a long, loooong time ago. Christmas wasn’t hated in the Bay Area back then… sigh…

Cuppa Covfefe

You need to see the context of the scene… more suspicious is the fact that the train is part of a Santa Fe consist, probably SF Daylight, in Warbonnet Colors, which wouldn’t normally be running on the East Coast 🙂 But that would explain the lack of snow…

Here’s a “Reaction Video” that I ran across while looking up “Snow” (and btw. my musician gang really did do that sort of thing and get kicked our of just about every restaurant in Newark and Fremont)… BandDramaDeStrange was one term used back then…

(It’s pretty obvious that these two never saw this movie before, and their reactions in some part make me feel, erm, old…)…. 🎄 🎄 🎄

Defense Secretary Austin Scandal Is Even Worse Than We Thought

When it was first reported on Saturday that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been in the hospital since January 1, it was natural to assume that key figures in the Pentagon and the White House, for whatever reason, chose to keep his hospitalization a secret. What possible motive could there be for doing this? Who knows? It didn’t make a lot of sense, but the Biden administration has an extensive record of covering up scandals, so it wasn’t exactly out of character for the Biden administration to cover something up.

The truth that has been coming out over the course of the day suggests something far, far worse. According to the latest reports, not even the White House knew about Lloyd’s hospitalization.

“Senior Biden administration leaders, top Pentagon officials and members of Congress were unaware for days that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had been hospitalized since Monday, U.S. officials said Saturday, as questions swirled about his condition and the secrecy surrounding it,” the Associated Press reported. “The Pentagon did not inform the White House National Security Council or top adviser Jake Sullivan of Austin’s hospitalization at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, until Thursday, according to two administration officials.”

That’s bad. Really bad. And it gets worse.

A source familiar with the situation told CNN that not even Joe Biden knew.

“National security adviser Jake Sullivan ultimately informed Biden late Thursday afternoon, soon after Sullivan himself learned that Austin had been hospitalized, that source said. Austin was admitted to the hospital on New Year’s Day due to complications from an elective surgery,” CNN reported.

Let’s think about this for a minute. Joe Biden, who is supposed to be the commander in chief, didn’t know for four days that his own defense secretary, a member of his cabinet, was in the hospital. Now, considering what’s going on in the world right now—the Israel-Hamas war, the Houthi attacks on container ships in the Red Sea, and many other things—how is it possible that Biden isn’t talking to his defense secretary daily? Sure, he has time to give speeches about how Donald Trump is a threat to democracy, but he didn’t even know his defense secretary was incapacitated for days?

…The Pentagon claimed that Austin “was prepared to act for and exercise the powers of the Secretary, if required,” at all times he was hospitalized, but according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, Austin was in the intensive care unit, suggesting that his condition was more serious than the Pentagon had let on.

Secretary Austin released a statement accepting responsibility for the lack of transparency.

“I recognize I could have done a better job ensuring the public was appropriately informed. I commit to doing better,” Austin said. “But this is important to say: this was my medical procedure, and I take full responsibility for my decisions about disclosure.”

Before I go any further, let’s make something very clear: This doesn’t absolve the White House or Joe Biden one bit. As the above report pointed out, the White House found out on Thursday and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told Biden that afternoon. It wasn’t until late Friday that the Pentagon revealed Austin’s hospitalization. So the White House knew for a day about Austin’s hospitalization and said nothing.

YUP. Good call.

IMO—Even if direct “vaccine” issues weren’t the primary reason for hospitalization, “secondary involvement” cannot be ruled out, since the “vaccines” can, and do, increase / aggravate existing medical issues in “vaccinated” people.
And there’s, IMO, a 100% probability that Sec. Austin is “fully vaccinated and boosted.”

Maybe he ‘died suddenly’, and they don’t want to look like they got caught with their pants down (where they always are) having no one ready to step in to Tiny’s shoes.

If no one has seen him since Monday, January 1st, then the longer he hasn’t been seen by anyone, the more likely it becomes that he kicked off.

Good stuff, that I needed right now.

Similarly, Paul says in Romans 5:3–4, “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope …”

Amen!

Valerie Curren

Amen Carl, what a wonderfully uplifting message to begin this New Year–Thank You!

Valerie Curren

I wanted to share a tidbit from my family “archives”…

Last week some family members went to my parents’ home to watch Michigan in the Rose Bowl game, as they are the only ones with cable TV.

While there I read a letter they had put up on their Fridge. It began “Dear (their street name) Angels”…

It was a very heartfelt 2 page letter from neighbors that regularly walk by my parents’ home & wanted to thank them profusely for their sidewalk chalk scripture ministry.

For some time now my mom & dad have been writing Bible verses on their sidewalk in front of their home. There is one on the south end w/ a North oriented message & a different one at the north end with a South oriented message–oriented meaning most easily read when heading in that direction. So basically whichever direction one approaches their property there is a Bible verse at the beginning & end of their land. They put up new verses whenever the old ones are gone, like after a rain…

The people who left the note have said that they take many different walking routes but Always make a point to go by my parents’ home so they can read the Bible verses, which often represent the highlight of their day. They said that the verses often become a part of their discussion as they walk & often seem to speak directly to circumstances that they face–since clearly God’s Word does not return void!

Amazingly, based on some of what they penned, it appears that they are Muslim, or at least refer to Muhammed w/ reverence so have a background or culture that is Islamic friendly, at a minimum. Regardless, God’s Word is still at work in their lives & they look at my parents as brother & sister though they’ve never met nor even seen them so have no idea who they are.

I just wanted to share this to say that you never know in how you live your life for the Lord the He is continuing to move & touch lives with His love, mercy, & truth.

Interestingly, I had put sidewalk chalk in my dad’s Christmas stocking knowing he was usually the Bible verse scribe at their home so I was quite blessed to see that their sidewalk chalk ministry was bearing fruit in at least one family’s life. Praise the Lord!

cthulhu

Welcome news, and very appropriate for the day.

Valerie Curren

I decided to share it for a Sunday post as thought it would be fitting.

I have less pleasant info on an in-law death that will pend to a weekday 🙁

Hope things are going well with you!

I was thinking of some of your home improvement adventures while my husband tackled an unexpected plumbing scenario over the holidays. He discovered the cold water pipe going to our only bathroom sink (yeah we had a family of 6 in a 5 BR house w/ 1 bath & a “throne” alone in the basement w/ less than 1500 sq feet above ground) was developing a leak that started producing even more water when he finger nudged some of the green patina off of the copper near the split.

Anyway he studied a few online videos to get a good grasp of what needed to be done, bought his materials & did some of the work Before needing to turn the water off. Basically these pipes to that sink were so old & corroded he decided to replace them both & the cut-off valves for each temp & also to install a new faucet we’d bought a while back but had never got around to upgrading it yet.

So unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, in joy & all) he has had a bit of pipe repair experience over the years, mostly at my parents’ Northern Michigan Cottage, where sometimes the winterization process was inadequate to forestall occasional breaks. He was Planning to solder the stuff that would be installed under the sink & drop them through the floor to join them with the pipes coming up from the basement so only have to turn off the water, hopefully for less than 2 hours, to complete the connections.

Well he was having Real Problems getting the solder to flow properly & those replacement valves & pipes started looking pretty shabby, gunked up with dripping metal. So yet another trip to the hardware store where he discovered some pricey chemical bond that could be used instead of solder (he was also using “shark bites”, I believe). This chemical bonding process worked Amazingly so we actually were able to take back the $30 soldering kit he’d acquired thinking part of his issue was older solder, for he’d just bought the flux (not capacitor 🙂 ) prior to the project.

So he cleaned up all the solder mess from the pipes & chemically joined stuff & it all looks great & works great too. I’m so thankful that he can tackle such projects & do them so well. & I accompanied him on a couple trips to the hardware store & was able to finagle the retroactive application of coupons he forgot to use so ended up saving us $40 on top of it. Way to go home team!

cthulhu

My next big project is re-keying the locks around the house. Eleven of them.

Valerie Curren

That sounds like a bit of a pain. Yesterday our daughter stopped by & was so glad to use power tools to help her dad replace a handrail bracket that had just broken on basement stairs. She also assisted in replacing a broken hall tree dual hanger, not sure if that’s the right word but if the pic shows below that’s close to what we have, so she has a dedicated place for her coat whenever she stops by. She misses her old job where using power tools was a regular part of her day 🙂

comment image

Hope your projects are problem free!

cthulhu

I don’t solder pipes. When I first moved up here, I lived in a place that got their maintenance man from another complex where he had burned-out three units soldering pipes.

We didn’t have to worry about him very long, because he used a Skilsaw to cut a 2×4 across his leg and scored a 3/4″ deep cut across the top of his thigh (luckily, all muscle).

Such a wonderful tale.

Valerie Curren

Oh my goodness. This isn’t the place to mention my husband’s calf scar from a chainsaw is it?

Cuppa Covfefe

Over here, soldering pipes is just this side of illegal (due to the lead, which isn’t that big of a problem, if done correctly, and, erm, there are WATER MAINS still around made of lead pipe [rare, but there])… what they use here, even on GAS PIPE!!!!! are special crimp fittings, along with a VERY expensive tool with which to do it…

I’m not too sure that those kinds of fittings will hold over the years, but the unicorn-fart/pixie-dust tree-hugging greens think so…. WHATEVER could POSSIBLY go wrong??? Especially with a gas pipe… in the furnace room…..

We had (gangGreens again) our Furnace replaced in 2015, and ALL the fittings were these creepy crimpy ones… 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

Soldering copper is not a huge problem as long as the pipe is clean, smooth, and dry (inside and out) and heat can be applied evenly and consistently (with a flame barrier behind so that framing, etc. doesn’t go up)… Those used to be made with asbestos and worked well, but the gangGreens got us there again, as well….

Glad you got it sorted! Plumbing in freezing (or near) weather is no fun…

(or in 100°F humid West-By-God weather either, for that matter 🙂 )…..

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

There is such a thing as lead-free solder and that’s what we use here.

Cuppa Covfefe

I’ve used it for years in electronics, but never with water pipe… I’m assuming it’s not rosin as flux, then…

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

IIRC the flux is separate from the solder when plumbing, rather than being in a central cavity in the solder.

Valerie Curren

Yes, hubby brushes on flux to help the solder flow, iirc.

Cuppa Covfefe

And uses a flux capacitor to make it go faster 🙂

Oh, wait….

I’d still trust the old soldered joints over these newfangled crimp disasters-waiting-to-happen any day…  💧  🌊  🌊  🐋  🐙

Valerie Curren

me too; at least old school meant some learned basis for the behavior not just delusions (like lets cut/modify heat shields on a Space Shuttle for environmental reasons…oh they burned up on re-entry, too bad, so sad, but at least we’re saving the planet) 🙁

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I had better luck soldering pipe than gluing PVC or pipe dope on gas lines. I eventually got all three down but pipe soldering always just worked right the first time.

Valerie Curren

Isn’t that PVC glue purple so it shows up real well against the white? Hubby has “played” with all those kinds of pipes too–his dad & granddad were both steamfitters or pipefitters, ironically, so it might be in the genes a bit, even if he never learned such stuff from his dad as he was moved away from him when about 5 & only saw him twice more before he died when Hubby was a teen…

Our guys made marshmallow guns out of PVC pipe but not sure if glue was involved–fun!

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It’s not the glue that is purple, it’s the primer you’re supposed to put on before the glue. And yes the inspectors will bust you for not using the primer.

Valerie Curren

Inspectors are in short supply around here (in my home) LOL

Cuppa Covfefe

Yep. And the lead in the solder shouldn’t be a problem, either, if properly applied…

Karens again, just like with the supposed problem of children being poisoned by lead leaching (or something) off of the type/printing plates used to print childrens’ books… Libturds were probably (and still are) more worried about being able to poison childrens’ minds…

(I was already over here when that last idiocy occurred, otherwise I’d probably have scored a ton of cheap library editions of classic books… drat…)…

The Katie Hopkins video is, IMO, important to watch. It appears that cardiovascular events is the largest culprit in the excess mortality numbers in England in the ages 20 – 64 combined age group.

It also appears that a significant number of these cardiovascular events are occurring to people when they are at home, as opposed to being in the hospital or otherwise under care.

Of course, the Lancet article does NOT mention the “vaccines” as a cause of the excess deaths — IMO, this is due to the disclosure at the end of the article that the lead author of the said article, Jonathan Pearson-Stuttard, receives fees from Pfizer! “Other reasons”, including COVID-19 infection, are mentioned.

Yours Truly can posit that the authors of the Lancet article know the real truth — that the excess deaths are occurring because of the ingredients and the mechanisms of the COVID-19 “vaccines” — but either choose not to tell the truth, or are afraid of the repercussions that telling the truth could do to their careers.

Yours Truly will also posit the following: Since the heart and cardiovascular system damage that the COVID-19 “vaccines” do can be cumulative and incremental to the “vaccinated” person, many people don’t know that “something is wrong” until things are out of control, or nearly out of control.

And here’s the proof:

Yes. That explains all the “sudden deaths,” as well as the fact that people are dying at home, or at least not in a hospital setting.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

COUNT IT ALL JOY

At daybreak, God coaxes you out of your sleep;
At first light, God’s blessings you’ll surely reap;
As His love surrounds you, arise in awe;
From His bountiful harvest you will draw!

In silence, thoughts of God will fill your mind;
His presence in you – know God has defined;
Open your heart and receive His great love;
His grace and His blessing sent from above!

Sing unto God – Sing a new song today;
As His Spirit indwells – shows you the way;
Praise Him – oh, Praise Him with all of your heart;
From you, He promised He would not depart!

Draw from His strength – as He dwells within you;
Without Him, there is – nothing – you can do;
Give Him this day – your sorrow and pain;
Repent of your sins – please do not refrain!

Tell Him you love Him – and thank Him outright;
For all that He does – what He brings to light;
For a smile – a kind word – encouragement, too;
For what He accomplishes through me and you!

Count it all joy – raise your voice strong in song;
Be grateful – be joyful – to Him you belong;
Your sorrows – your happiness – give it to Him;
And His Spirit – will fill your heart to the brim!

Rely on Him – do nothing – without His consent;
In your prayer – be mindful He’s omnipresent;
Give Him this day your acceptance and pray;
You can count it all joy at the end of the day!

RE: The Deagel Report

Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but the name “Deagel” is similar to “Deagol”, the brother of Smeagol (Gollum) in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. Smeagol murdered Deagol to gain possesion of the “One Ring” of power, which Deagol had found.

Brother against brother.

The Deagel Report is basically about the same thing; The murder of brothers (broad meaning) against brothers.

Possibly a Deep State/ Lucifarian use of symbolism???

Interesting things about Edwin A. Deagle:

1) He doesn’t appear to have a Wikipedia page. That seems odd.

2) There are two kids from a first wife. They divorced in 1978 in Virginia. One of the two boys died in 2016. The other is be still living. He is not named in his father’s obit, but he was in his brother’s. He is Edwin A. Deagle III, and was a psychologist with the 82nd Airborne in 1998:

https://academic.oup.com/milmed/article/163/6/iii/4831925

In the same year, 1998, he co-authored research about body-image disturbance in anorexia and bulemia:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/(SICI)1098-108X(199709)22:2%3C107::AID-EAT1%3E3.0.CO;2-J

Edwin III was in the Army Special Warfare Center in 2005. He wrote a research paper about the tactical importance of interpersonal skills:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjkuMDd9cuDAxUzMjQIHcmOCGAQFnoECBEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fapps.dtic.mil%2Fsti%2Ftr%2Fpdf%2FADA434652.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0IhUpH4Nnne-RbR_CmEePC&opi=89978449

That’s what I was able to find. Nothing after 2005. Spook?

COVID didn’t work, and the flu has been around for years. I don’t think RSV alone can be spun as cause for lockdowns and vaxes. So they have to combine the three to make it seem we are facing a triple threat.

Why fears over a ‘tripledemic’ are surging
Not enough people are getting vaxed for each of the three.
Hospitals might become overwhelmed.
There might not be enough health care workers to deal with the patient load.

Artificial Intelligence Is Allowing Them To Construct A Global Surveillance Prison From Which No Escape Is Possible

Every inch of our planet is being watched, and incredibly sophisticated “artificial intelligence solutions” make it possible for those that are watching our planet to find whatever they want in just minutes.

You can try to run, and you can try to hide, but if they really want to find you it won’t be very difficult. All around us, a global surveillance prison is being constructed. Even if you completely stay off the Internet and you totally avoid all forms of modern technology, cameras and satellites will still be endlessly watching you.  And once your face has been identified, artificial intelligence can be used to locate you wherever you pop up on the entire planet…

Corey Jaskolski is the CEO of an artificial intelligence company known as Synthetaic, and the system that his company has developed is extremely impressive…

And now AI has made it possible for the watchers to seamlessly connect everything that we do online to everything that we do offline.

…check out what anyone that buys a new Subaru is agreeing to

“Here’s something you might not realize. The moment you sit in the passenger seat of a Subaru that uses connected services, you’ve consented to allow them to use — and maybe even sell — your personal information. According to their privacy policy, that means things like your name, location, “Audio recordings of Vehicle Occupants”, and inferences they can draw about things like your “characteristics, predispositions, behavior, or attitudes.” Call us bonkers, but we don’t think that simply sitting in the passenger seat of someone’s Subaru should mean you consent to having any of your personal information use for, well, pretty much anything at all. Let alone potentially sold to data brokers or shared with third party marketers so they can target you with ads about who knows what based on the the inferences they draw about you because you sat in the back seat of a Subaru in the mountains of Colorado. We’re gonna really call out Subaru for this, because they lay it out so clearly in their privacy policy, but please know, Subaru isn’t the only car company doing this sort of icky thing.”

TheseTruths

For now we can say, Just don’t buy new cars. But that can’t last forever. Parts for the older cars will be unavailable or hard to get. Other things will happen that make it hard to have only a pre-computerized vehicle. People who don’t wlant to be spied on will be forced into an off-the-grid life of a hermit living off the land in a self-sufficient way, but that is not feasible for the majority of people. Something needs to be done to protect our privacy. This seems like a violation of the Fourth Amendment to me. The amendment doesn’t address listening devices because they didn’t exist at that time, but it seems it should apply to them.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

pat frederick

the expected bad news will be that insurance companies will no longer insure vehicles without this “safety feature” or that one–meaning older cars

TheseTruths

Yes, I think that’s a problem. They are boxing us in “for our own good,” but it’s because money is involved for the big companies.

pgroup2

New growth industry – liability co-ops

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Not if states won’t recognize them as fulfilling the requirement for insurance.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

…that, of course effectively gives a small group of insurance companies an oligopoly…and they’re using it.

pgroup2

All states ‘recognize’ surety bonds for any legal purpose. Insurance is just a generalized surety bond anyway.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

IIRC in California if you posted a bond of something like $30K (I’m sure the number is much higher now) you did not need to have liability insurance (though if the amount of the injury went above that I am sure you’d be on the hook for it). But that, of course, is putting the money up, up front. If there were a “co-op” would they be able to cover multiple people with the same money? If not, it’s just back to the case where everyone must post individually.

cthulhu

Not much higher — only $35,000 at present.

https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/insurance-requirements/

The bond used to be the same amount as the minimum insurance. If the minimum insurance was $15K (one victim)/$30K (multiple victims), then the minimum bond was $15K. That seems to have gone out the window, along with a lot of things that used to make sense in this state.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

I just found the Colorado rule. No self-bonding unless you own 25 vehicles or more. Yikes!

On the other hand insurance is cheaper here than it was in CA. When I lived in CA, the insurance for someone under 25 consumed over 10 percent of my income, and that was for a car that was paid for.

scott467

Then we can get a bond.

A bond is always acceptable in lieu of insurance, and since it goes back to Common Law, TCTB can never close that loophole.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Sure they can.

Common law is a default and can be overridden by explicit act of the legislature.

cthulhu

Besides which, the dollar amount of bond is explicitly set by law. Boost it by a factor of 100x and it would soon go out of style.

scott467

Any attempt by the state to set a bond limit that was unreasonable would obviously be challenged in court.

By bond issuing companies, if by no one else.

scott467

“Common law is a default and can be overridden by explicit act of the legislature.”

____________

I don’t think that’s true, at least not how it was explained to me.

I’m not saying the crims wouldn’t or don’t try, but an explicit act of the legislature to make something unlawful that has been established as lawful under Common Law should not be able to withstand court challenge.

Common Law is the superior form of law. It’s foundational. Like the Constitution, which is likewise based on Common Law.

The example I remember best is the use of a family Bible as an acceptable form of identification for obtaining a passport.

Family Bibles were common and every member of the family’s birth would be recorded in the family Bible. It obviously long predates Social Security numbers, state I.D.s, photo I.D.s, etc. At the time I heard about it, maybe 8 or 9 years ago, I checked the government website, and the family Bible was still listed as an acceptable means of identification.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Only because the state legislature didn’t ban it for that purpose.

scott467

And that’s what I’m saying, I don’t think they can ban it, because it was already established under Common Law.

I don’t expect you to believe me.

I don’t expect anyone to believe anything anymore 😂

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Well any state that passes a Voter ID law requiring a picture ID is basically saying that Common Law or no, a family bible is not valid ID.

If common law were not overrideable by state legislatures, state legislatures would literally have nothing to do, other than pass budgets. But apparently they do have a role in criminal law, and that was true even in the days of the Founders.

scott467

If I remember correctly, in order to obtain a passport, there were two lists of acceptable identifications, a primary list and a secondary list.

You needed at least two if I remember correctly, and at least one of them had to be from the primary list.

Family Bible was on the secondary form of identification list, but it was still there.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

That just means the feds didn’t get around to disallowing its use. Not that they couldn’t.

scott467

Okay.

scott467

“Well any state that passes a Voter ID law requiring a picture ID is basically saying that Common Law or no, a family bible is not valid ID.”

______________

If it was not previously established that a Bible is acceptable for a voter I.D., then it doesn’t need to be acceptable now.

To my knowledge, using a family Bible for purposes of voter I.D. was never established, because it wasn’t necessary way back when.

But if it had been the common form of identification in order to vote, i.e., if it had been common established practice to show up at the voting booth with your family Bible in hand, and doing so had been established historically in Common Law, I don’t believe an act of the legislature can ban it.

They can try, but it will be challenged in court and overturned.

There has to be a foundation. Common Law is that foundation.

If there is no foundation, there there is nothing, we are anchored to nothing, we are just free-floating through the whims and fancies of elected officials.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

You misunderstand what a foundation is–or rather you’re making an assumption as to what “foundation” means.

You’re thinking of common law as if it were a list of things the government is not allowed to forbid (like the BOR is). Or alternatively, perhaps you’re thinking of it as if it were the maximum list of things the government is allowed to ban.

That’s utterly incorrect. It’s simply the list we started with. Legislatures can, and do, very often, pass more laws, and they are rarely laws permitting you to do things common law forbids; rather they are forbidding things common law allows. They also refine the definitions of various crimes (very important!) and don’t just add new crimes.

cthulhu

You misunderstand Common Law.

In order to have a body of law, you must have organizations to support it. Thus, law can be thought of as being derived from the organization, through the use of force.

In feudal systems, you would have the local Sheriff, reporting to the local noble. If they found you were rustling the Duke’s cattle, there was probably a direct law written down that said the punishment was death.

On the other hand, if you were in a drunken barfight, you were probably guilty of “disturbing the Duke’s Peace.” The actual particulars, degrees, and punishments might be a bit hazy — likely with nothing written down. This would be left open to the interpretation of local judges and/or juries, and would be “common law”.

Mind you, the Sheriff would get involved at a certain point because his employer, the Duke, would be displeased if he didn’t — but neither particularly cared if it was 10, 30, or 60 days in gaol. That would be dealt with by the judges — and if one got a reputation as always doing 10 days or always doing 60, the other justices and Sheriffs would give them a stern talking-to.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

Checking https://leg.colorado.gov/content/mandatory-automobile-insurance-colorado , it would appear that self bonding ONLY applies if you own 25 vehicles or more. I have no idea how typical that might be.

scott467

Colorado is on the list, and every state should be on the list, because of Common Law:

The fourth amendment doesn’t address being spied on by non-government people, either…so unfortunately a 4th Amendment argument will fall flat.

Still, we’ve got a problem here for the reasons you identify.

TheseTruths

IMO, spying is a 4th Amendment issue, whether by the government or non-government people.

pgroup2

Then we need a privacy amendment. But that would end kiddie porn prosecutions, as well as child rape prosecutions.

The solution is to sue anyone and everyone who uses your data/info without compensation. IOW you don’t sue for invasion of privacy – you sue for [essentially] theft. Like celebrities do; they license use of their likenesses, etc.

SteveInCO · Thermonuclear MAGA

It will then be up to the car companies to figure out how to justify making you the product, like social media does.

Pence Says FBI Did Not Contribute to January 6 Capitol Protest, Cheers Arrest of More Than 1,200 Trump Supporters (VIDEO)

Former Vice President Mike Pence appeared on CNN on Sunday to discuss the January 6 Capitol protest.

Pence told CNN’s “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper that the FBI did not contribute to the January 6 Capitol protest and cheered the arrest of more than 1,200 Trump supporters.

“I’ve heard the many repeated assurances from the FBI that they were not involved, and I take them at their word,” Pence said…

“I’ve seen the director of the FBI repeatedly assure the American people that the FBI were not the instigators of the riot that occurred on January 6,” Pence said to Jake Tapper on Sunday. “And frankly I’m very grateful for the efforts of the FBI to bring nearly a thousand people to justice who ransacked our Capitol and did violence against police officers that day.”…

“I believe everyone that conducted that riot at the Capitol needs to be held to the fullest extent of the law. I’m pleased that many have,” Pence added…

Hundreds of federal agents and provocateurs were embedded in the Capitol protest.

Rep. Higgins told Tucker that government officials – feds, military etc – LURED Trump supporters into the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Higgins estimates that at least 200 FBI assets were operating in the crowd of Trump supporters at the Capitol on January 6.
