Open Carry for Terrorism and SHTF?
If you train seriously and live in a state where open carry is legal, make open carry part of your elevated-threat plan. It is not required every day, and it does not turn you into a superhero. But in a sudden, widespread terrorist rampage open carry can be a force multiplier. The discomfort or myths that deter many people today become irrelevant when the stakes shift from reputation to survival.
Normally, whether carrying openly or concealed, the goal is to avoid a confrontation. In these cases, the confrontation comes for you, so a hard posture with the best defense possible is the way to go, and your subcompact pistol beneath two layers of clothes isn’t going to cut it.
Why openly carry in a time of heightened threat? Rifles and carbines essentially have to be carried openly. They are unnecessary for ordinary day-to-day self-defense against criminals, but they become highly valuable in the face of terrorist attacks or active shooters. A long gun offers superior accuracy, range, penetration, and stopping power compared to any handgun. It is also far more visible, delivering a much stronger deterrent effect.
An unconcealed handgun is far easier to draw than a concealed one. There is no clothing in the way and the draw is often straighter and more natural. It also allows you to carry a larger handgun, which is useful if you have an attached light or want a service-sized pistol if you expect trouble.
Open carry has value for deterrence. Criminals like easy targets. Looters and rioters have been documented as going elsewhere because neighbors were armed. Someone standing around with a firearm, particularly a rifle and especially if they are kitted up, indicates that the person has taken a interest in the safety and security of their community. Attackers seeking maximum casualties prefer easy victims; an openly armed, alert defender raises the perceived cost and risk, often causing them to redirect or hesitate.
Many mass shooters have revealed in their manifestos or interviews (if they survived) that they selected a secondary target because their primary target was too difficult because of armed security. Open carry clearly communicates the potential for armed resistance. Unlike concealed carry, in which the criminal is unaware the “victim” is armed until the weapon is drawn, open carry can stop a potential crime before it leaves the suspect’s mind.
Deterrence doesn’t come from carrying a gun alone. Deterrence shows externally through a person’s bearing. People who are alert tend to carry themselves differently from those who are distracted. That outward posture signals that the person is engaged with their environment rather that lost in their phone or thoughts. Bearing also communicates confidence and capability. Criminals often prefer targets who appear unsure, passive, or unaware; someone who looks steady and attentive presents a higher perceived risk.

One big problem with open carry is that if anyone besides a properly dressed white man is openly carrying, every rational person in the vicinity is going to (rightfully) think something bad is about to happen.

In the beginning, Savannah wanted to post a $1m reward for information, but the cops said it would result in too many false leads.
The only thing I can figure is that, if this was a supposed kidnapping for ransom, no exchange was made because Nancy had been deceased from the beginning and someone was trying to extort money from the family. They couldn’t provide proof of life. So some criminal is still out there, probably having caused the death of Nancy.

At the start of this, I said it was likely manslaughter at best. My hypothesis is that Nancy said no to a money request by Savannah’s sister and spouse after they had been accustomed to Nancy saying yes to earlier requests.
One of the two lost control and struck/pushed Nancy. The striking was likely hard enough to knock her off balance [and she struck her head while falling] OR the striking was hard enough to trigger a heart attack.
Stuck with a dead relative and blood stains, they panicked. Dragged the body out the back door and buried it somewhere. Police may have already found the body and are waiting for one of the two to relax, at which point an oral slip connecting them to the death will be the ‘break’ in the case.
Everybody knows Nancy is dead but there is one more dot to be connected.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

My impression is that there are communication failures too. It seems unthinkable that some of these situations are allowed to take place, like the fire truck and the plane not being able to hear what was being said to the other one. It’s basic common sense that that would be important.
There have been other close calls, like one in D.C. last year, where it is said that that kind of thing happens frequently. It seems that the logistics need to be adjusted.
I have not seen any reports about what happened to the occupant(s) of the fire truck. It’s as if he/they don’t exist. It makes me think the truck might have been shoved aside by the plane and that the majority of the damage to the plane resulted from impact with the ground rather than the truck.

My take is the truck, as it entered the runway, tried to veer hard left. Too late.
AC nose landed on truck. Entire, or major portion of truck shoved, to the right of the AC.. AC front tipped up, after all passengers, headed to the back of the AC. (One report.) There are quite a few four-way crossings in my backwards little town with no stop signs. Two are on each end of the block my house is on. There are at least 3-4 accidents a year. People take my right-of-way and blow through without looking all the time. It’s nuts. It’s like they are totally oblivious.
Just saw FOUR CARS run a red light together yesterday. First one accelerated on a stale yellow, hit the intersection fully red, and the others just followed. Crazy.

Some color on who is & isn’t being paid in ICE & CBP via the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Most of ICE & CBP are funded through 2029 via the OBBB and operations won’t be impacted if they aren’t funded through appropriations, for now.
All frontline law enforcement is being paid. The ICE, Border Patrol, and CBP agents we see in the field are all getting paid via OBBB.
HOWEVER… their professional and civilian support staff are NOT being paid. These are people who work the computers, the public affairs offices, and other support staff who aren’t on the front line making immigration arrests, but are supporting the agents who are.
These civilian support staffers haven’t been paid for almost half of the last six months when you factor in the prior shutdown last fall. They feel left behind – and feel they have no light at the end of the tunnel with this Senate bill leaving CBP & ICE unfunded through appropriations. They would have to hope GOP could take care of them in a future reconciliation bill, or that more funds could be moved around to pay them.
These are some texts I’ve gotten from these staffers…
CBP support employee:

The more I read, and the more I think about the situation we have with healthcare, Big Pharma, and Big Medicine in our country, the more I believe that someone(s), somewhere, at the very top of our government has decided that, if we are gullible enough to take their poison, or give it to our children, well then, we deserve what we get.
Whether this is a “conscious” decision, or an underlying, subconscious one, matters not one bit.
We have been abandoned to the “Big Money” machines. I have only one piece of advice for anyone at this point, and it’s really simple; as much as you possibly can, BE AMISH.
Go to church, eat clean, preferably homegrown food (look around and buy from farmers), don’t take vaccines, and stay away from “medicine.”
The “go to church” piece is the most important, but maybe for a different reason than most people would think. GOD and FAITH are important, because understanding that death is not “unnatural” or “tragic,” but inevitable and in the hands of a Higher Power is how you avoid the FEAR OF DEATH that allows Big Medicine and Big Pharma to work their lies on you in the first place. We are NOT in control, and there is heaven awaiting us.
The “myth” of vaccines, medicines, and “treatment” in general is prolonging life. That’s it. I am in no way against interventions like surgeries that improve QUALITY of life, like joint replacement and such. But when you have terminal cancer, what is the point of treatment, other than to destroy whatever time you have left?
Think about it; the FEAR of catching a bad flu has literally destroyed the quality of life for millions of people around the world.
AND enhanced the lives of all those who benefited monetarily.

IMO, I think that the concept of Quality of Life is a multifaceted thing.
Take the case of the late Stephen Hawking. He was diagnosed with a “slow-growing”, but eventually fatal, case of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) when he was 22 years old. For the next 54 years, he fought that disease. Yes, he had people to help him. Yes, he lived in a wheelchair for decades. Yes, he had personal problems (he and his first wife divorced; he married another woman; they divorced; Dr. Hawking developed a close relationship with ex-wife #1 and their three children.)
But, at the same time, Stephen Hawking created several theories that would change some aspects of astrophysics forever, such as the “Black Hole” theory. He traveled all over the world. He wrote books. He taught at universities. He was determined to live his life for as long as he could, and in the way that he wanted to live it.
Yours Truly isn’t saying that all persons who have a terminal disease have to do the kinds of things that Stephen Hawking did. What is important is to understand that human beings are “wired” to live — and to live the longest and best life they can — without fear.

In Canada, MAiD is now being offered to persons who have emotional illnesses, in addition to those who have terminal physical illnesses.

At 3 AM on Friday, March 27th, in a near-empty chamber, you passed a bill by voice vote that excludes all funding for ICE and CBP.
Let me repeat that: voice vote. No roll call. No record of who was there. No accountability. Just you, Barrasso, and a handful of senators shuffling paper in the dead of night while America slept.
You could have demanded a recorded vote. You chose not to.
You could have held the line for five more days until the House returned. You chose not to.
You could have used the same procedural tools Democrats have used against you for 40 days. You chose not to.
Instead, you gave Chuck Schumer exactly what he asked for, DHS funding minus immigration enforcement, and called it a win. Then you walked to the cameras and blamed the Democrats.
Let’s be precise about what you did:
1. You caved to a demand Democrats made on Day 1 of this shutdown. Forty-one days of supposed hardball negotiation, and you settled for their opening offer.
2. You handed them a template. The next time Democrats want to defund any agency — ICE, CBP, or anything else — they now know: just shut down DHS and wait. John Thune will fold at 3 AM.
3. You punted to reconciliation. “Good possibility,” you said. Not “we will.” Not “guaranteed.” Just maybe. Meanwhile, ICE operates on fumes from last year’s bill with no certainty of future funding.
The precedent you set:
You have argued for months that the filibuster is sacrosanct. That the 60-vote threshold protects minority rights. That we cannot bend Senate rules for policy wins.
But at 3 AM on Friday, you bent every norm that actually mattered:
• Voice vote to avoid accountability
• Empty chamber to avoid debate
• Midnight deal to avoid scrutiny
• Immediate recess to avoid questions
You’ll bend the rules to avoid a fight. You just won’t bend them to win one.
What you’ve actually accomplished:
Democrats demanded ICE restrictions. They got ICE defunded.
Not reformed. Not restrained. Defunded.
And you’re out here tweeting about how Democrats are the “Defund the Police” party while you just voted to defund border enforcement at 3 in the morning.
The question you should answer:
Why did this deal have to happen at 3 AM?
Why couldn’t it happen at 3 PM, with cameras rolling and every senator on record?
You know why. Because you didn’t want your voters to see what surrender looks like.

Yes! But you must also either remember your proper user name and password, or have your browser remember them, too. When the browser offers to remember the user name and password, and they are correct, be sure to let it remember them.
The SITE is what offers “Remember Me” with the checkbox on the page, but it’s not the same as your BROWSER remembering the credentials in its password cache. In practice, you want BOTH. The site remembers it with cookies. The browser remembers it with its password database.

Let’s summarize where we are after a 40+ day Democrat shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security.
1) ICE and CBP are funded, thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts and the foresight of President Trump and Republicans in Congress.
2) After holding DHS and the American people hostage for over 40 days, Dems got ZERO restrictions that would prevent ICE and CBP agents from doing their jobs safely.
3) Due to Dem obstruction of the appropriations process, ICE and CBP will get even more funding through budget reconciliation.
4) Dems have once again established themselves as the “Open Borders, Defund the Police” party heading into an election.
5) Dem leadership has proven once again they can’t be trusted to make a deal.
Which begs the question if you’re a Dem senator or one of their left-wing supporters: What was this really all about?

I use a MY pillow under my head and lately have added a 2nd thin pillow.
I also use one on each side mainly to elevate the arm so it is not pulling on the spine.
Generally I sleep on the left but will often switch back and forth since I only sleep in 3 hours blocks.

On Milwaukee’s south side, officers and a corrections agent tried to take 35-year-old wanted suspect Jonathan Otto into custody near 12th and Burnham.
Otto refused commands to exit his flatbed truck. When an officer attempted to remove him, Otto sped away with the 46-year-old officer still holding onto the driver’s door.
Bodycam video shows the officer clinging to the moving vehicle for several blocks while repeatedly ordering Otto to stop and eventually threatening to shoot.
Near 15th and Grant, the officer fired, fatally striking Otto.
The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and placed on administrative duty.
Otto was wanted for new allegations of strangulation and assault charges.
