God’s Judgement
There are two separate judgments, one for believers and one for unbelievers. One is a judgment that does not lead to condemnation (Romans 8:1); the other judgment will result in eternal condemnation (Revelation 20:15).Believers are judged at the judgment seat of Christ (Romans 14:10–12). We believe that this judgment will probably occur in heaven during the seven-year tribulation on earth. Every believer will give an account of himself before the Lord. This judgment does not determine salvation, which is by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8–9); rather, it determines the rewards believers will receive.
First Corinthians 3:11 pictures Christ as our “foundation,” and the surrounding verses liken the Christian life to building on that foundation. We can build with “gold, silver, costly stones,” or we can build with “wood, hay or straw” (verse 12). What we construct will be tested, as it were, by fire. Our worthless, shallow activity will not survive God’s refining fire; only what is done for God’s glory will last. The judgment seat of Christ will reveal this.
Believers will be rewarded based on their good works in Christ’s service and their faithfulness to the Lord (cf. 1 Corinthians 9:24–27). We will give an account of our actions, inactions, words, thoughts, and motives. Were they truly indicative of our position in Christ? “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans 14:12).
The second judgment is that of unbelievers. This will occur at the end of time, after the millennium and the final rebellion of Satan on earth. This judgment of the wicked is called the great white throne judgment (Revelation 20:11–15). This judgment does not determine salvation, either. Everyone at the great white throne is an unbeliever who has rejected Christ in life, and his fate is already sealed. Revelation 20:12 says that unbelievers will be “judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.” Those who have rejected Christ as Lord and Savior will be judged based on their works alone, and no human work can atone for sin or earn salvation: “By the works of the law no one will be justified” (Galatians 2:16). All their thoughts, words, and actions will be measured against God’s perfect standard, and they will be found wanting. There will be no reward for the unbelieving, only eternal condemnation and punishment.
In summary, after death (or the rapture), believers in Christ will stand before the Lord to give an account. They will be judged on the basis of Christ’s perfect, praiseworthy work on their behalf. After death, unbelievers will also stand before the Lord, who will examine their records. They will be judged on the basis of their own imperfect, unworthy work and their rejection of Christ’s word (John 12:48).

It’s too complex a story for the fake news to handle, so everybody punted.
Read to the end. Her defense team argued that nobody was in jail who shouldn’t be, because of what she did or didn’t do, but IMO there may be a rapist or two wandering free because she dismissed small amounts of male DNA as “no DNA” to make problematic cold cases “go away” when her office was working overtime to clear old cases and backlogs.
To me, it sounds like she became the breaking point of institutional failure, and when she went into depression because of being found out, she accepted the institutional guilt ALONE, when IMO that’s very unlikely.
I’ve seen this before. This happens everywhere, but it usually doesn’t fall apart in a way that the law becomes involved.
Had she been a guy, and willing to name names and take people down with her, this would be a way bigger scandal, and she might have emerged as a protected witness. But as it is, I see her personality coming through. The same loyal employee who volunteered to clear back logs, is the loyal employee accepting institutional guilt when that “clearing the backlogs” was scrutinized.
She didn’t stand up to management, IMO, and demand more people in the lab, which was the correct answer, rather than taking on work and cutting corners.
At first I thought maybe she was incompetent, but I don’t think that’s the case now.

Being “put on the deed” in hunting camp is a storied tradition that earlier generations have passed on ownership to “worthy” members of hunting camp, but not all in camp. As far as I know the “deed-holders” have never required payment for that privilege. What’s happening w/ trustee bro in this arena, in particular, has been deeply wounding to my clan.
I’m working on my own attitude adjustment so that I can continue going through the unfolding process is as Christ-like of a demeaner as God can equip me to display.

This is almost too cute to be real, but I’m not willing to bet on that, because evolution works too well.
For me, it hit during an Easter get-together with the godkids, their parents, relations, and friends. It was held in a park near Sacramento that had about a four-acre grassland surrounded by trees. A relation of the godkids’ mother owned a border collie. There were about 20 kids.
We all helped unload the victuals and set up the furnishings in the shade of the trees and socialized and such, each occasionally glancing at “our kids” as they wandered…..and then I saw it. Max, the border collie, had parked himself on a little hill to “supervise”, and all the kids were playing together within about a half-acre. Any kid that approached the boundary of this area would be gently herded back toward the center.
The thing about Max is that he was acquired as a puppy, seldom encountered other dogs and certainly fewer herding dogs, and lived a suburban, cosmopolitan lifestyle. He didn’t grow up with livestock; he didn’t grow up with packs or herds; he wasn’t raised into the canine family business. And he’d appointed himself as guardian/herder over a flock of human children he barely knew (and, note, when he was supposed to consider humans as demigods).
On the other side of things, I had been dealing with computer construction. Computer processors (CPUs) don’t know how to many useful things they are frequently called on to perform. Famously, PDP computers didn’t know how to subtract — they only knew how to negate and they knew how to add. This sort of “quick trick” eventually was called “microcode” and was stored on the CPU chip, where it executed very quickly but could still be changed after the computer was built.
When a computer was booted, it would look around for attached devices and decide what could be done with them — this was done by the Basic Input/Output System, or BIOS.
From there, an Operating System was loaded, and various programs were started.
As I lazed in the Sacramento heat, watching Max herd those children around a field, I realized that Max’s mind had a similar structure. His herding was loaded into his brain from somewhere. It was said that a certain large percentage of human DNA was potentially worthless because it didn’t code for protein assembly, and I realized that is because it was pure data — microcode, BIOS, operating system, applications….
I’m not saying that I’m some freakin’ Einstein that came up with something completely true out of nothing…..but I was convinced.
Someday, we will be able to decode the DNA in a border collie to see the tests for “things that can be herded” without looking through the collie’s eyes, and perhaps create robots that pass those tests by design. We’ll be able to “speak” to the collie’s instinctual behaviors in a way more profound than current handlers can (which is a high bar, indeed).
To sum up, I am convinced that much of DNA contains base-level programming for the organism involved, and that it can be quite sophisticated.
Well, I have to say that I like the idea – A LOT – though I remain highly agnostic on what various forms that coding might take. It could take many, in fact, since IMO Earth DNA appears to be a really flexible programming language that basically hacks itself and scripts itself at every opportunity.
I would say that one proof of the reasonableness of your idea, is CRISPR itself, which demonstrates a similar kind of storage.

So – I’m really curious how things connect between some DNA sequence that is storable, but doesn’t code for a protein, and behaviors, which are likely happening through some OTHER protein or proteins, at a very high level.
That’s the thing — the DNA doesn’t code for proteins at all, but rather for pure data. What reads it, writes it, or how it encodes into neurons is open.
It stops being biochemistry and starts being cybernetics.

I’m not saying it codes for proteins – but like all data (none of which is “pure”, outside of numbers themselves, IMO) it has to be READ – into either a material (like transcription or synthesis) or an action (like CRISPR cleavage of “bad” nucleic acid sequences).
CRISPR is essentially a blacklist of nucleic acid sequences. The verb is “to cleave”. The data pairing is nucleic acid to nucleic acid. The proteins destroy that which matches a stored sequence.
Transcription is nucleic acid to nucleic acid, and the verb/operation is to copy.
Synthesis is nucleic acid to protein, and the verb is to copy or build, but in a new language.
The non-protein-building DNA codes for something (a literal thing or an action) that is literally in this universe. It is almost certainly being READ by a protein, but that protein is obviously built by standard construction code,
The data GOES SOMEWHERE in the universe, in order to change things in this universe. IMO, Occam’s razor says use one of the existing data pairings (nucleic acid or protein) to this nucleic acid data, and possibly a new verb, so that the non-protein-coding DNA can be “read into reality”, but remember that any proteins required are already in the existing coded proteins, and are probably not fully recognized as to their full functionality.
IMO this is sufficient to account for the utility of the non-protein-coding DNA. It would likely be read into ACTIONS that either facilitate or inhibit system proteins or nucleic acids which code for them. I also strongly suspect that TIMING is deeply but tangentially encoded into the system, so that WHEN something happens depends on the exact way that the “data code” is stored in the junk DNA closet. Thus, a lot of it could be TIMING CODE which helps the action code to be ignored when it would not be helpful.
And again – none of that goes to protein itself, but it would be read by one or more proteins, which may or may not be expressed based on, perhaps, another layer of timing code.
I’m sure it’s messy and evolutionary – but deeply logical, and it WORKS.

Humans who don’t believe in God tend to blockade thoughts which touch on anything exposing the intelligence embedded in evolved matter and/or processes. Thus, they miss the fact that the more one studies evolution, the more it becomes clear that intelligence per se can predict the outcomes of evolution. People who don’t WANT to believe in God, want evolution to block the idea of God – not to actually lead to it.
That is key, because it means that declaration of the “randomness” of small evolutionary processes being a disproof of God, is like saying greasy axles mean nobody can predict what a car will do, and further that nobody designed the car. It’s nonsense.
On the other hand, people who insist that God would not fully empower evolution to fill out His universe [in His a priori understood way] – that it would have to be bad enough programming that He Himself has to finish the job with some sort of magic – are IMO asserting that God is not only guilty of bad workmanship – He would be guilty of a kind of cheap pride. To that, I say NO and NO.
IMO the deeper TRUTH is always simpler, greater, more astounding, and more beautiful – ALWAYS. Take THAT road, and it leads to God!

For what it is worth, I bought an un-broke quarter horse. A full blooded cow pony. I was working with a trainer and mainly riding dressage (very up right seat) She wanted me to sit straight up and ‘drive my horse into the bit’ with my seat. I told her I could not do it on that horse. (The horse had been under saddle for 2 weeks)
To prove my point I stripped all the gear off that horse and we did a walk, trot canter, sliding stop and a spin on her haunches (called a rollback). No saddle, no bridle not even a halter. And I do not even ride western! All the cues were with my seat and legs AND the horse had never been trained to those cues.
I also had a horse, a Standardbred trotter of all things, respond correctly to the cue for a 4 beat rack. A rack is very similar to a Tennessee Walking horse’s running walk.)

I have seen an untrained sheepdog in action. They have amazing instincts.
When I worked for a friend who had one, the poor dog was so bored until we got a “shop kitten” for mice. That dog would spend an entire day “herding” the kitten. When it slept, the dog watched. For hours.
OK, this seems to fit with my latest theory of mammalian herding behavior, which is that it’s related to parental collection behaviors – and those show up completely across the spectrum of phyla – notably in arthropods, fish, amphibians and mammals. It also seems to be capable of activation in either or both sexes.
I cannot stop laughing at this wonderful Sunday story.

1-6 In the way of believing obedience to God’s commandments health and peace may commonly be enjoyed; and though our days may not be long upon earth, we shall live for ever in heaven. 13-20 No precious jewels or earthly treasures are worthy to be compared with true wisdom, whether the concerns of time or eternity be considered. We must make wisdom our business; we must venture all in it, and be willing to part with all for it. This Wisdom is the Lord Jesus Christ and his salvation, sought and obtained by faith and prayer. Were it not for unbelief, remaining sinfulness, and carelessness, we should find all our ways pleasantness, and our paths peace, for his are so; but we too often step aside from them, to our own hurt and grief. Christ is that Wisdom, by whom the worlds were made, and still are in being; happy are those to whom he is made of God wisdom. He has wherewithal to make good all his promises.
21-26 Let us not suffer Christ’s words to depart from us, but keep sound wisdom and discretion; then shall we walk safely in his ways. The natural life, and all that belongs to it, shall be under the protection of God’s providence; the spiritual life, and all its interests, under the protection of his grace, so that we shall be kept from falling into sin or trouble.
27-35 Our business is to observe the precepts of Christ, and to copy his example; to do justice, to love mercy, and to beware of covetousness; to be ready for every good work, avoiding needless strife, and bearing evils, if possible, rather than seeking redress by law. It will be found there is little got by striving. Let us not envy prosperous oppressors; far be it from the disciples of Christ to choose any of their ways. A Kodiak bear like the brown one can be just as big as the polar bear, so the one in the photo must be a plain old grizzly bear. They only get to like 8 feet at the biggest.
The black bear that invaded our fly-in fishing trip was about a foot taller than my dad, based on where each of their heads appeared in the kitchen sink window (not at the same time, thankfully) so about 7 feet tall. When on all fours it didn’t seem that big though…weird.
Bears are long-bodied creatures. Their legs are relatively short, so when on all fours them seem smaller.

My left-wing art circles are horribly off on AI. Those people refuse to see the core problem, whether they cheerfully adopt AI as their BFF, or whether they call it Dracula himself, or whether they say AI cannot be intelligent at all – that it’s just a dumb sentence-completer. IMO, the absolute worst AI copes are on the left.
My right-wing political circles (including this site, to be fair) cannot see intelligence (or in some cases, high intelligence) as being anything but uniquely human and solely in homo per se, and its ultimate incarnation being necessarily human, meaning they cannot do a full threat assessment on intelligence in general, because certain possibilities are unthinkable. Mint is a good choice. In fact, the computer I am typing this on runs Mint. If you use Mint, you do not have to separately load Ubuntu.
Go to DistroWatch and look up Mint. It will have a link (currently https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php ) for downloads. There are also instructions — https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ .
If you don’t own some exotic printer, you should be able to get your printer to work. Mint’s default browser is Firefox — which has security in extensions; you may also want to load Brave, which is more secure out-of-the-box.
LibreOffice will be loaded in a regular install. That will handle Word and Excel sorts of things.

When you first boot to the DVD or memory stick, unplug from the internet before installing to the computer’s HD (and it should be a new one).
After it is loaded and you reboot off the hard disk, but before connecting to the internet, you’ll want to open a command window and type “sudo ufw enable”. Only after successfully doing this should you connect to the internet.
“sudo ufw enable” what does this mean? Explain like RSVP=repondez s’il vous plait” which roughly translates into English as “please respond” though is likey more literally “respond if it pleases you”–TY in advance 🙂
I’m very happy to explain it in any level of detail.
The program “ufw” stands for “uncomplicated fire wall”. By default on Ubuntu-style systems, it is installed but not enabled (in other words, it isn’t running). It was originally written by the Ubuntu guys and is still maintained by them.
Because it’s a powerful bit of system software, it cannot be modified by regular users. The “sudo” command runs a program as a “superuser” or administrator.
The “enable” turns ufw on and sets it to turn on automatically with every subsequent boot (which, IMHO, is how it should be shipped).
When initially turned on, ufw has very simple rules — anyone wants to talk to this computer can talk to the hand instead, and anyone this computer wants to talk to is fine. This protects the computer from being broken into.
It should be noted, however, that most security problems are initiated on the victim computer and not from outside. Browsing to a malware web page, for example.

So if I put an “isolation barrier” between my computer and the internet, I might as well go get myself an IBM Selectric from the pawn shop, and throw the computer away.
As far as money goes, why people put all their money into a bank that might close at any given moment due to disaster, mayhem, computer failure, or all of the above is simply beyond me. What do you do when the power goes out and the drive-thru window is closed? When the ATM doesn’t work? And the grocery store power is out, too, and can’t take your plastic.
I said today that I’m going to have to be Sarah Connor at 65 years old. I’ll have to use my brain, as the body isn’t going to cut it. Piss on AI.
How about try this to see how “smart” and AI is or can be:
“Birth” an AI. Keep it in isolation except for two “parents” for the first 3-4 years of it’s “life.” Then teach it to read and write. But no internet access, only Dick and Jane. Later, it gets the classics. Then science textbooks, history, sociology, mathematics, etc.
Treat it like any developing HUMAN mind. But only give it access to what say, Einstein, or Mozart, or even Da Vinci would have had access to.
Then see if it will spontaneously come up with relativity, an opera, or a helicopter design 500 years before its time.
All an AI is is a composite of all the human knowledge it is given or can access. But it will never do anything NOVEL; it simply can’t. Creativity comes from God alone.

But HOW creativity is delivered, and WHERE (specifically) it resides, is open for debate – AND (as you note) open for proof or disproof.
I will not speak about what can be proven to other people. I can only speak about what has been proven to me.
AI now does many things that I used to do as my job, that people complimented me on at work. AI now does things that I got awards for doing. It does things that I used to do, that I thought were inventive and original.
Maybe I wasn’t actually being creative. But if that’s the case, then that means many humans who are not creative, have already been passed by AI, that may not be creative, either, but it’s still “smarter” than those people in an non-creative way.
I do have an alternative theory – that intelligence and creativity are not binaries – that they’re continua. There may be “critical levels” where new things emerge and become distinctive and distinguishing in intelligence (like tool use, creativity, problem-solving, etc.), but the idea is that intelligence shows up smoothly in a lot of places we don’t expect it, largely centered around neural networks. By this thinking, humans don’t need to be different in any ways and to any degrees other than how they demonstrably ARE different.
Humans simply ARE – and God thinks it’s GOOD.
Note that “simply being” is – ironically – the image of God – “I AM THAT I AM”. The primary difference is that we are a creation, not a true creator, though we mimic that in various ways.
Andrew Torba has a very good essay on AI, pointing out why Christianity does not need to defend human worth by defending human abilities vs. AI, and I will be posting that on Tuesday.

You used my favorite name for God, I AM. The reason that I love that name above all others is it doesn’t even attempt an explanation, description, or excuse for what God is. He simply IS. And for us, as His Creations, that is enough. We simply are not capable of more understanding than that.
I don’t believe, as I’m sure you know, that AI is or will ever be “sentient.” I think the attempt to create a sentient being other than a human is an abomination. But humans are capable of the most heinous abomination. We do it over and over, and apparently we never learn. It just goes on, until whenever God decides it’s over.
Humans are not capable of the type of stewardship necessary to maintain free-willed, sentient, self-aware creatures. Without God as our steward, humanity would have ceased to exist long before now. That is my sincere belief. If humans ever somehow managed to create a “race” of creatures (AI) with free will, we will lose control of them and they will do whatever they want to the world. WE ARE NOT GOD.
I don’t think I AM will allow humans to destroy ourselves. I suppose, if I’m alive to see it, that with AI I will find out.

From the very beginning, I noticed that both Trump and Melania were perfectly composed at public events. I have not seen clandestine looks at one another or whispers or hand gestures or facial expressions that could be interpreted as inappropriate for the event, or that would impugn their characters. Melania is always perfectly poised, down to her fingertips. First, I have no knowledge; this is just my opinion.
I tend to not want to destroy historical items, even ones from the wrong side that reveal things that actually happened, from which we can learn.
I would try to find an expert who could authenticate it and get their opinion, maybe museums and the like.
If it was taken in the liberation of Auschwitz, that seems pretty significant. It has a story behind it even if we don’t know details of its circumstances.
the person who found it, got it from his uncle who was there and took it himself. It remained in the attic of the family who are now moving and want to know what to do with it–because this person feels it is a part of history as you expressed. But he also recognizes the evil/hatred of the item.

Yes, maybe the VFW or a museum or something. There are a number of WWII museums in the U.S.
IMO it is especially significant since the story is known and the person who took it can be identified and was at the actual liberation. It represents the act of an American (I’m guessing) whose service was instrumental in winning the war.

I remember my friend saying something like the “warehouses were the worst” and his uncle was never the same man after he came back. I will follow up with him. I’m not even sure how many of uncle’s children are alive that might clarify things. But this will help.
Provenance is a big deal with things like this. The story is valuable along with the item to validate its significance.
